Transcript

00:00:00.000 I'm here with Chris Scott, owner of the Whistle Stop.
00:00:02.740 There's a huge crowd out here today.
00:00:05.400 The weather is stormy and the storm is upon us politically.
00:00:09.900 What should people be doing at home, Chris,
00:00:12.900 to try and improve this situation that we find ourselves in?
00:00:17.000 Well, they should be writing letters.
00:00:18.920 They should be writing emails.
00:00:20.140 They should be on the phone.
00:00:21.120 They should be getting the message out there to our elected officials
00:00:25.140 that this stuff cannot continue.
00:00:27.200 It's ridiculous.
00:00:27.820 And right now, you're proposing to run for the Wild Rose Independence Party.
00:00:35.860 What brought you in that direction?
00:00:38.180 Well, I know that we need big changes in our government.
00:00:41.800 And originally, I had encouraged people to renew their UCP memberships,
00:00:46.460 get their voices heard within the parties,
00:00:48.720 because that's what the party was supposed to be.
00:00:50.760 When we formed the UCP, I was broke, but I did my part.
00:00:54.300 I worked hard.
00:00:55.040 I tried to get the message out there.
00:00:56.400 We were successful.
00:00:57.820 And I did it because I believed in a grassroots party that represented the membership.
00:01:02.440 And we're not seeing that now.
00:01:03.720 We're seeing Premier Kenney interfering in CA meetings, threatening MLAs.
00:01:11.260 Like, it's just, you can't govern like that.
00:01:14.800 And I really don't think any of this is going to change with the government like that.
00:01:18.440 The problem is, we have legislation in place that's allowing the government to circumvent our rights and freedoms.
00:01:25.020 And we need to address that.
00:01:26.200 And we need to do it quickly.
00:01:27.480 Because it doesn't matter if it's COVID today, or some other virus tomorrow, or a storm, or, you know, UV rays, or whatever.
00:01:36.420 Whatever the reason is, they could just say, you no longer have this right, and they can do it with a stroke of a pen.
00:01:42.480 And that has to change.
00:01:43.600 Exactly.
00:01:44.380 And that has to change.
00:01:44.940 Right.
00:01:45.300 And that's coming.
