00:00:00.000 If you guys have been following the British Columbia provincial election, you're already well aware that this is one of the most corrupt and meaningless elections ever held in Canadian history.
00:00:10.880 The NDP already had a majority government and two years left on their mandate, and yet David Eby called a snap election.
00:00:18.540 And the Conservative Party has been making sure to remove all the conservatism from their platform since day one of the rip drop.
00:00:26.540 To talk more about what's going on, I want to highlight an actual good politician in this election who's actually trying to bring meaning to the whole thing, Alexandra Wright, who is running for the 1BC party in the riding of Kelowna Lake Country Coldstream.
00:00:42.680 Welcome to the show, Alexandra.
00:00:44.740 Thank you so much for having me.
00:00:46.460 How has it been on your end of things? Because you're in a particularly interesting riding for this election.
00:00:53.080 that's a riding where I guess you can explain it just a second here, but it feels like the
00:00:59.260 politics of, you know, the backroom politics of the Conservative Party is taking precedent
00:01:04.020 over what people actually want. Absolutely, and obviously it goes back to 2023 when
00:01:11.520 Pavneet Singh was running for BCU for the nomination in this riding. He did win that
00:01:18.400 nomination, but there were some people who were not very happy about that because he had brought
00:01:23.540 in a lot of foreign students to vote for him, which is how he won that nomination. So Benny
00:01:29.460 Beaupere, who actually is going to be the NDP candidate in this riding, she actually brought
00:01:34.840 in lawyers to contest that decision. Anyway, after that, of course, BCU folded like a cheap tent,
00:01:42.400 And Pavneet realized that he had to hop over to the next cash cow.
00:01:47.000 So he went over to the BC Conservatives pretty quick there.
00:01:50.560 And as we know, he was instrumental last year in their AGM.
00:01:53.820 A lot of accusations have been made about his actions within that AGM.
00:01:59.920 And I think that's where we are today in terms of the background story.
00:02:04.400 Yeah, there's been a lot of musical chairs going on in the sort of Kelowna and Okanagan region in general.
00:02:11.020 not only in this election, but in previous ones, too, because as in 2024, at one point,
00:02:17.800 you were supposed to be the B.C. Conservative Party candidate for the riding of Kelowna Mission.
00:02:23.820 And I think your story of what happened in 2024 really is sort of one of those little seed issues
00:02:29.800 for what is currently going on right now.
00:02:32.120 So maybe if you give the audience background on what happened between you and John Rustad.
00:02:36.880 Yeah, well, I was obviously nominated for Kelowna Mission.
00:02:41.020 and everything was going seamlessly me and my three buddies in the okanagan were campaigning
00:02:46.220 together doing all the right things everybody said we were doing really well and then in mid-july
00:02:51.820 john rustad contacted me that was the first time he'd ever approached me and asked if he could swing
00:02:56.140 by my house with his wife to have coffee so i was actually very very excited because i thought that
00:03:01.820 he wanted to talk to me about my experience about the fact that i own a farm to talk about you know
00:03:06.860 all of these things and how I could actually help the Conservative Party once I was elected.
00:03:12.380 Instead he came over and we chatted for a couple hours and right at the end he threw me a little
00:03:17.500 bit of a what do we call that a shot and asked me if I wanted to move to the Vernon Lumbee riding
00:03:25.420 and at the time I said well you know I'll think about it but it doesn't really make sense because
00:03:29.820 I've already got my volunteers in place you know we're doing really well and I asked him you know
00:03:33.820 know, why do you want to do this? He said, well, he wanted to bring in Gavin Dew because
00:03:37.680 Gavin Dew was, you know, a really strong, strong candidate. So, I'd never heard of
00:03:43.740 Gavin Dew, so I went and researched him, and all I could see was that he had run for the
00:03:47.720 liberal leadership, and that he seemed to have very different political leanings than
00:03:52.700 myself. So, I emailed John Rustad after that and said, you know, I'm not comfortable giving
00:03:58.260 this writing up for two reasons. You know, one is I don't think that Gavin is actually
00:04:01.660 the right person for Kelowna Mission. And I just feel wrong about the whole thing. So that was where
00:04:06.500 we left it. And a week later, I got fired. Well, this happens all the time when people say, well,
00:04:10.980 they're such a strong candidate. We need to bring this person in because they're the one who can
00:04:15.100 win this riding. It's like, guys, Kelowna Mission is a conservative area. A refrigerator could have
00:04:20.380 won that riding back then. Honestly, there was no problem. Yeah, you don't need a star candidate
00:04:26.540 being brought in quote-unquote star candidate such a star i think he came almost last place in
00:04:32.200 the bc liberal leadership race i think one guy got one percent of the vote and he got like four
00:04:36.900 percent of the vote or whatever apparently that's a star candidate but bc united apparently was full
00:04:43.140 of stars all over the place just amazing candidates that the bc conservatives in 2024 and now because
00:04:49.120 they're reviving so many of the old bc united people they were such star candidates that bc
00:04:53.780 united took a dirt nap and then the conservatives took over but now the bc united liberals uh they
00:04:59.940 went from what i would say after the 24 election around 50 percent in terms of the bc conservative
00:05:06.240 caucus to now probably like 75 percent if this election if they end up re-winning a lot of these
00:05:13.120 ridings and jamming in some more people if these people were so great why did they ever you know
00:05:19.100 fail in the first place is always the question i ask honestly it was their election to lose in 2024
00:05:25.660 and they did because they just couldn't hold on to conservative values that is the whole problem
00:05:29.740 with that party is that they can't say what they believe they just keep on drifting to the center
00:05:33.820 because they're too scared to actually say anything that's meaningful and it's repeating
00:05:37.980 this election too they only pretend to be conservative simply because they're running
00:05:42.460 against the ndp and the the average person the public no other information given to them if
00:05:47.740 you're a conservative opposing the ndp you must be conservative in some way but it always catches
00:05:52.060 up to them by the end of the election like in 24 they ran on a bigger deficit than the ndp the ndp's
00:05:58.620 actual deficit office is only barely bigger than the one that the conservatives were planning on
00:06:03.100 running and they have turnout problems because then people realize like what is even the point
00:06:08.700 of voting conservative if like let's say government gets seven percent better if they're in for a
00:06:14.860 four-year term it feels like it's a bit of a slap in the face more than anything uh but maybe in
00:06:20.540 your region it would be great if you could kind of uh lay out some of the problems that voters
00:06:25.500 are facing out there and and why specifically 1bc is needed uh in your region for representation
00:06:32.860 well i mean i think in general obviously being in the okanagan valley we know that
00:06:37.660 our the election is going to be decided basically on the west coast as it usually is i mean it's
00:06:41.900 just like federally it always gets decided in the east so i think the people of the okanagan valley
00:06:47.100 do feel like they are kind of the red-headed stepchild sometimes in terms of you know what
00:06:51.580 they are given or promised in the course of an election people out here are very conservative
00:06:57.180 people are worried about the cost of living as you know colonna is crazy expensive just like
00:07:02.460 everywhere else in british columbia uh people are facing uh you know a huge hopeless crisis
00:07:08.460 Obviously, drugs are massive. And, you know, it was a very sleepy little town when I moved here 12 years ago.
00:07:14.320 It's just shocking that you drive down Highway 97 and it looks like East Hastings at this point.
00:07:19.500 Yeah. And you have a background with oil and gas and energy with the energy industry.
00:07:26.080 I guess one of the big issues in the in the news these days is the new Pacific Link pipeline that the Liberals federally and Danielle Smith in Alberta is working on.
00:07:35.420 apparently david eby is somewhat on board with it but this is something that's kind of unique
00:07:40.700 to 1bc or something that we put a lot more emphasis on uh we need like the consultations
00:07:46.700 and a lot of the other uh environmental regulations in british columbia consultations
00:07:51.860 with first nations groups and enter and environmental groups that any timeline that
00:07:57.280 mark carney puts out feels like it could end up exceeding the eight years or nine years he gives
00:08:03.580 himself to build the Pacific Link. Do you see any sort of problems with the current plan that will
00:08:09.100 need legislative changes in BC in order to actually hammer through? Well, again, you nailed it, right?
00:08:14.820 It's the consultations with the BAMs that we're talking about. It's the authorization, the length
00:08:19.060 of time to get that. And if you go to the BC Conservatives website, you'll see that they
00:08:23.440 actually mention consultations with BAMs within their energy program as well. So they're basically
00:08:28.800 following the NDP model where it's going to be, you know, over time and over budget once we get
00:08:34.780 through it, because everybody is going to have their hand in the cookie jar, unfortunately.
00:08:39.940 Yeah, like the problem with the consultations is the consultations. It's not that we're not
00:08:45.500 consulting hard enough. We sign a deal or the federal government and now the provincial
00:08:50.900 government will as well, apparently, sign a title agreement with the Musqueam in the lower mainland,
00:08:57.220 giving them full title over the entire area,
00:09:01.840 like over the entire region that the pipeline,
00:09:03.700 the Pacific Link will need to go through
00:09:05.300 in order to get to the Port of Vancouver.
00:09:07.340 I have not heard any party in British Columbia,
00:09:11.400 except for us, actually bring up this kind of issue
00:09:15.640 that they have veto over the entire Pacific Link
00:09:18.580 and they have not said yes to the project yet.
00:09:22.000 Well, that is quite a big problem, as you've pointed out.
00:09:25.260 No, absolutely. It's crazy. And, you know, we've seen it. I mean, obviously, working in the Alberta and BC oil patch for the last 25 years, I've seen this on a regular basis, right? This is what happens with a lot of projects. So it's kind of insane to think that we're going to be any different on this one if we are setting ourselves up for failure right from the start.
00:09:45.580 Yeah, and the thing that needs to be done is that consultations need to turn into negotiations.
00:09:52.680 The consultations effectively are asking people, what do you want from us?
00:09:56.340 What can we do?
00:09:57.500 The problem is that it's a two-way street.
00:10:00.060 If they want assistance on their projects, they want the government's help, then the
00:10:06.200 government needs, I guess, their help on this one.
00:10:08.980 You need to be engaging in horse trading, not simply asking, how much can we do?
00:10:13.580 because how much can they possibly get from you until until you're on the tap
00:10:19.700 dries up you've got to be willing to say I'm gonna walk away from the table not
00:10:23.600 just on this project I'm not gonna help you on anything if you're not gonna be 1.00
00:10:26.780 willing to help us but that is the problem with indigenous relations in
00:10:31.400 this province you know and of course in other provinces too right I mean it's
00:10:35.960 just we've handed a lot of power over and you know this is I think where Dallas
00:10:39.860 also gets into trouble here is you know we want to have an equal partnership we
00:10:43.320 to treat everybody with respect we want everybody to come out financially and socially ahead from
00:10:47.800 where they are now so we want to win-win obviously it's just it's very hard when we are not on the
00:10:53.240 level playing field and everybody is just you know dancing around these issues and everyone
00:10:57.960 and the funny thing about it is it's not like it's elevated indigenous people financially it's
00:11:03.640 elevated a few indigenous people financially people on the band councils in important individuals
00:11:10.200 in banned governance but the average indigenous person is being used by what we call the 0.51
00:11:15.160 reconciliation industry's poverty problems that we will make sure that you're never getting ahead
00:11:20.360 so we can always point to you and say well we need more assistance look at that guy over there
00:11:24.520 you know we really we don't even have clean drinking water it's like well exactly i was
00:11:28.680 just gonna say we were able to get clean drinking water for people in the 1920s the 1910s you were
00:11:34.520 able to get clean drinking water with not that much money as long as you could dig a well and
00:11:39.240 have some sort of plant in order to clean it but these days it's like an impossible task it's like
00:11:44.280 you know nanotechnology is apparently needed to make clean drinking water but it's because it's
00:11:48.680 there's an incentive when you incentivize something you're going to get more of it
00:11:52.360 when right the government you will get more problems completely like this this plays into
00:11:56.680 the government's hand because then they can look like the good guys by throwing more money at a
00:12:00.360 problem but sometimes throwing money isn't the answer to the problem the problem is actually
00:12:04.040 making sure that that money goes where it needs to go to fix the problem right yeah and
00:12:09.240 Like, I want to go through a little bit of the B.C. conservative platform, as people may have been seeing over the past couple of weeks.
00:12:17.160 They actually took their platform down and it just said coming soon for a week after week.
00:12:23.380 Apparently, they didn't know what they believed in until today.
00:12:26.340 I don't think they do today either, Wyatt.
00:12:28.380 I actually don't either, because when you go to like the our party, our leader, our team, our plan,
00:12:34.080 although the leader thing might not actually hold up that long because apparently Kevin Falcon and
00:12:38.260 Ian Black are running around trying to get rid of Lauren already. But the plan part is just
00:12:43.200 basically press releases of what they've said over the past few days. They have six entries.
00:12:47.860 Now, the funny thing is I remember on day one, Lauren Dirksen said, I'm not going to talk about
00:12:53.620 Soji this election. And then after the backlash, the next day, he says, I am going to talk about
00:12:57.900 Soji and we're going to scrap it. And then a few days after that, he's threw Heather Maas' body
00:13:02.460 under a bus because she had correctly said that soji materials in schools are grooming kids
00:13:09.100 right which they are and i've noticed now on the website there is no soji you can
00:13:14.540 search it up any other communications list you can search up sogi and it will not come up anywhere
00:13:20.460 what else would i guess you say on the conservative platform or just based on the words they've been
00:13:26.060 using what's been missing from their pitch that i mean there's the d word right like where's drippa
00:13:32.460 it's apparently the biggest issue after affordability and they've still not even
00:13:37.740 said drip on the campaign trail except for like lauren's first press conference where you think
00:13:42.960 he said that they're going to repeal it but he he partnered up with peter millibar who helped him
00:13:48.660 coup carrilyn finley and his plan from the leadership race peters was to replace the
00:13:54.460 DRIPA with his own Reconciliation Act?
00:13:59.620 Well, I mean, we haven't seen it.
00:14:01.700 So that's the first problem.
00:14:03.560 The second problem is, you know, we're less than three weeks away from an election.
00:14:07.400 So whatever gets rolled out is going to be a soundbite and a press release without any
00:14:11.960 details.
00:14:12.380 So you'll never know what the actual promise is.
00:14:15.540 And then, of course, on top of DRIPA, you've also got, you know, those health care acts
00:14:20.060 and professional acts that the BC Conservatives promised to repeal back in 2024 when they were
00:14:26.400 running, right? Bill 36, Bill 21, all of those things that normal professionals in British
00:14:32.920 Columbia are very worried about because it is another boot on their neck in terms of practicing
00:14:38.200 in British Columbia as a professional. People are aware sometimes of the HPOA, the one that
00:14:44.400 affects doctors and patients' privacy, but people often are not aware that there are other
00:14:49.700 Right. Legislation that affect lawyers and other professions that make it just completely unworkable that your own board that governs you is now being stacked.
00:15:01.860 Beholden.
00:15:03.360 Pointees all over the place, meaning that it's no longer like a independent.
00:15:08.220 Is it true that some of them aren't even lawyers on the law society now?
00:15:11.080 I believe so.
00:15:13.040 It's just government representatives. OK.
00:15:14.760 Nice. Here's a BCNDP question. What's your reaction to David Eby and I guess the Greens
00:15:22.200 as well announcing that we need to raise taxes right now? Is this a good plan or is it not?
00:15:30.840 I mean, I could never remember. Yeah, like how many people are fleeing British Columbia for
00:15:37.580 other countries every year? It's quite a substantial number, right? So I just.
00:15:42.200 I think it's like tens of thousands every year. We're losing like 15, 30,000 people fleeing to
00:15:47.220 the United States or Alberta every given year. So if you're a British Columbian doctor or a lawyer
00:15:53.100 or a business owner, and suddenly your top tax rate is now 57.5%, I think you go, wow,
00:16:00.380 where should I move to where I can actually keep some of that money that I'm earning? Is it Alberta?
00:16:05.760 Is it the United States? Why would I stay here and support a lot of programs that I don't even
00:16:11.820 believe in. I'm not seeing value for money. So yes, I mean, he's predicting a billion dollars
00:16:17.200 or whatever revenue, but I don't think that factors in all of the money they're going to
00:16:20.980 lose from people leaving even faster than they already are. And that's always what drives me
00:16:26.380 up the wall with the NDP. Every piece of good news always needs to be put into the context of
00:16:31.540 all the bad news that they haven't announced. So they'll celebrate, oh, we brought three American 1.00
00:16:35.600 doctors fleeing Donald Trump's tyranny who are now going to be working in BC hospitals. And they
00:16:41.100 don't mention that we've probably lost dozens of doctors in the same period that those once
00:16:45.220 signed on to come to British Columbia and work here. That's bad news and we don't want to hear
00:16:50.880 about it. Like with other stuff, whenever a new major project is announced by somebody like David
00:16:56.960 Eby or Mark Carney, you never hear about all the major projects that were cancelled or Mark Carney
00:17:02.520 and David Eby will talk about all the money being invested in Canada or the province of British
00:17:07.300 Columbia, but you don't hear about all of the money fleeing at the same time.
00:17:13.200 Totally. And it's not this hypothetical. I think everybody in this province at least has a couple
00:17:17.340 of friends who are now living in Texas or living in Europe or, you know, or living in Alberta. I
00:17:22.660 mean, every week somebody announces that they're getting out of here because they just had enough.
00:17:26.320 It's the combination of being taxed to death, having, you know, lack of affordability with
00:17:31.360 housing. And on top of that, there's a smack in the face where, you know, our government cares
00:17:36.080 more about you know land acknowledgements and about soji that it does about putting food on
00:17:41.520 everybody's table so you know again it's just that virtue signaling that we've seen from government
00:17:46.400 uh for at least the last decade but it's very tiring for normal people i just like to ask you
00:17:51.920 now just about your kind of local campaign how things have been going uh you have a sort of like
00:17:56.400 a medium-sized larger riding some of the other colonial ridings it's nice you get to stay kind
00:18:00.640 of in suburban areas but you have uh you have of course uh lake country cold stream i think edson
00:18:05.600 is also in the riding how have your uh days with the doors with constituents been uh based on the
00:18:12.000 mix of candidates that you're currently running against honestly the first week has been very
00:18:16.400 receptive and i haven't strayed out of my immediate vicinity because i'm still you know getting a
00:18:21.280 website up and ordering signs and all of those things that we have to do concurrently with
00:18:25.360 starting this campaign but i mean every time you knock on the door there's a person there who is
00:18:31.200 is very upset about what's going on and equally confused about why the conservatives haven't
00:18:35.720 actually been, you know, expressing any conservative values or hiring conservative
00:18:41.580 representatives at this point. Right. So there's a lot of concern about, you know, where are we
00:18:46.640 going in this province and why is the, you know, so-called like conservative party? Why are they
00:18:51.940 centrist? What's going on here? And sometimes they're not even centrist. They're straight up
00:18:56.440 left like there's one candidate uh aaron something or whatever i think he's their one of their
00:19:02.360 candidates in the vancouver area and he is a dei rep he is somebody who is a dei consultant who
00:19:10.360 tells you that your board is racist and needs to be racialized and you're under-representing
00:19:16.120 uh minority groups and whatnot and then you have a candidate on the island in saanich north in the
00:19:21.960 islands ryan windsor who's a former bc green a forming municipal green and a former trudeau
00:19:29.160 federal liberal and we're just being told they're all great they're all fantastic yes
00:19:36.920 signed up to run for the bc liberals in 24 and then he helped the run the coup against
00:19:43.400 carrie lynn finley to dump her as the bc conservative party leader but don't worry
00:19:47.720 he's a super conservative guy and don't worry as soon as we get elected we're going to act
00:19:52.920 democratically even though up to this point we've done a very poor job of actually reflecting the
00:19:58.440 members uh wants and you know their voting preferences and we basically just use them for
00:20:03.720 their cash donations and made decisions based on what we want to do to get our buddies in power
00:20:09.080 i can't stand that uh logic that people use guys yes they screwed you over multiple times up to
00:20:14.600 this point but just vote for him one last time everything's gonna be better they'll fix it after
00:20:19.560 the election avnit singh by the way if people were not aware this is more of an obscure story
00:20:26.120 but basically up until the the the candidate drop date he had been advocating in 2024 that the party
00:20:33.800 drop christina lowen in in colonna center so that he could be the candidate up until the very last
00:20:40.280 second he was still pushing against one of their own sitting bc conservative mlas to drop her
00:20:45.880 simply so he can be the candidate and that's the problem all over the place these are not like well
00:20:51.000 they're maybe not the best but they're they're pretty good they don't even know probably if
00:20:56.140 the platform exists or not they have no clue what they're running on they simply are people
00:20:59.860 who are office shoppers who shop for the party that is most likely to get them in
00:21:04.500 look at absolutely look at ryan do all of them you know vice president of the bc liberal party
00:21:12.440 and she shoved lynn block out of her seat in right over capilano to well what about ryan
00:21:18.760 dead on arrival riding no the lack of loyalty should concern everybody because if they can't
00:21:25.820 even be nice to the people in their party how are they going to be nice to a bunch of people that
00:21:29.840 they don't even know and don't feel accountable towards, right? Yes. And when they get into
00:21:35.240 government, and let's say, let's just in a hypothetical scenario, they get a 50 seat majority.
00:21:41.180 What happens now? The party is completely, the caucus will be completely salted with people
00:21:46.700 who do not believe in the mission that their own voters believe in. They'll do whatever.
00:21:51.060 Oh, it turns out we can't get her a drip. It's so much more complicated when you're actually
00:21:54.900 in government. We're going to have to just modify it this way or that way to make it slightly less
00:21:59.480 bad and you're going to have to take that as a victory it's what happened in ontario doug ford
00:22:04.440 gets in oh you guys physical responsibility is so much more difficult than you would imagine
00:22:09.560 the conservatives aren't even pretending to be physically conservative they're running on we're
00:22:14.040 not going to raise taxes it's like oh wow so anybody read uh like can anybody read a balance
00:22:19.000 sheet like can anybody read a budget like does anybody have an economic background within the
00:22:23.400 whole party at this point like there's a lot of realtors and students and i don't know developers
00:22:30.760 this party the party is the same one that bankrupted themselves after the election
00:22:36.120 because they couldn't manage their own spending they're now running on not cutting any government
00:22:40.440 spending and by the way government spending always goes up unless you cut yeah and they're also
00:22:45.000 running on we're not going to hike taxes which is another way of saying we're going to keep all of
00:22:48.840 the bc ndp taxes in place well i mean that's just such a silly statement too right as long as we're
00:22:54.440 in term what for if you got in for 20 years you wouldn't raise taxes like come on like don't be
00:22:59.320 silly it's just another tagline doug ford pretends he's never raised taxes because he hasn't modified
00:23:04.920 the income bracket specifically but they can always add on extra tax surcharges in the background
00:23:10.840 add their own industrial carbon tax like doug ford did in ontario and again the caucus for the bc
00:23:16.840 conservatives is salted with people with backgrounds in the reconciliation industry
00:23:22.200 in the green industry all these groups who are going to find their own ways of basically you know
00:23:28.920 serving the interests that they that they've historically always served exactly and if you 0.96
00:23:33.160 look at these mlas who've been in power for the last two years they're not fiscally conservative 0.95
00:23:37.960 when it comes to your money you look at their expense accounts you look how they're traveling 1.00
00:23:41.960 and they are living it high on the hog they're not worried about acting like a common person
00:23:46.840 thank you for reminding me about this hilarious because there's some people with higher travel 0.90
00:23:51.480 expenses that i totally get sharon hartwell i think her travel expenses for like a year it was 1.00
00:23:55.640 like 20 fiscally or 25 to 26 which i believe goes from like march to march she spent forty thousand
00:24:01.480 dollars on travel she lit she's in a bulky valley stokine i get it it takes her literally 36 hours
00:24:07.400 just to get home there's a lot of small airports very high cost airports to go to because it's so
00:24:12.120 obscure i get it forty thousand dollars probably that's probably a discount based on how she's
00:24:17.800 probably found ways of saving money gavin do mission has somehow spent now yes it's more
00:24:25.240 expensive to get to victoria from colonna mission than it maybe is from you know long vancouver
00:24:30.760 longsdale okay fair enough 78 000 though for one year's travel dallas because i checked the numbers 0.79
00:24:40.040 spent 12 000 and she worked i don't i think she's only worked remote once time the entire time she
00:24:46.760 was in office because she was really sick one time somehow gavin do has spent five or six times more
00:24:53.320 than dallas uh in one year doing what it's like he it's like there it's there's some mandate where
00:25:00.440 he must be at every cocktail party networking event or he's gonna that's the problem right
00:25:06.040 Right. This is a lifestyle for the finance minister for the NDP for getting a town car
00:25:10.260 when she was in Chicago. Should she have done that? No. But you at least want to have a leg 0.99
00:25:15.080 to stand on when you're criticizing the NDP for spending too much. 1.00
00:25:20.340 It's pathetic. I mean, the first thing we need to do is cut a whole bunch of government spending, 0.98
00:25:25.060 including the expense accounts for MLAs. I mean, I don't know why we have 93, quite frankly,
00:25:30.360 but that's a discussion for a different day. But no, I mean, we have to model it in our own
00:25:35.360 lifestyle, as well as modeling it within the government. And when you can't even control your
00:25:39.780 own spending, when you might have, you know, bankrupted a company or two, you know, some of
00:25:43.760 the candidates have done that, you know, it's very hard to take them seriously when they say
00:25:47.620 they're going to fix the problem, and they're going to live within their means and be fiscally
00:25:51.040 conservative. I mean, and they're not even saying that on their platform anymore. So I guess
00:25:55.060 some people do the whole, you have to vote for them to get them to get them out of office.
00:26:00.080 i can tell people guys what changed in ontario when doug ford took office very little positive
00:26:07.580 change and over the long run it's been more negative over time because he just continued
00:26:11.120 the same liberal policies but now you're in a situation where unless an alternative conservative
00:26:16.280 party really rises up quickly in ontario the only thing that can happen is it goes back to
00:26:21.120 the liberals of the ndp who might make it worse because the voters were just kind of allowed for
00:26:26.900 Doug Ford to do very little, meaning that it's almost like if we're already in decline and all
00:26:32.740 Doug Ford does is slows the decline. Well, now in order to fix the PC party, you need to give it
00:26:38.520 back over to the NDP and the liberals who are going to speed up the decline again to try and
00:26:42.280 fix the PC party so that they get in. Maybe next time they'll actually start bringing you out of
00:26:46.040 the hole. The conservatives, the BC conservatives, are just a different speed of decline. But if they
00:26:52.260 get in, that means, in theory, the only alternative, the most obvious alternative would be going
00:26:56.980 back to the NDP again. So what are we doing? Because it makes you even worse off in the long
00:27:01.360 run. If fake conservatives get in, because they're just the seat warmers for the NDP to make it even
00:27:06.060 worse, and they can say, see, the conservatives get nothing done when they get into office,
00:27:09.560 because they ran on doing nothing. Absolutely. No, I mean, they're giving us a bad name, right?
00:27:14.820 And this is the problem. When you go to a door and explain I'm a conservative candidate, well,
00:27:19.080 what's the difference between you and the conservatives?
00:27:21.380 Well, I mean, I'm conservative.
00:27:23.500 That's the difference, right?
00:27:24.640 Like these people don't know what conservatism is about at this point.
00:27:28.700 All they know how to do is pander and kowtow and follow the money.
00:27:33.040 So it's very disconcerting and disheartening to voters in the Okanagan Valley
00:27:36.920 and everywhere else in the province right now, I'm sure.
00:27:40.280 Well, thanks for coming on to the show, Alexandra.
00:27:42.640 I'll make sure to be putting your contact links in the description below
00:27:46.480 and pinned at the top of the comments.
00:27:47.720 Again, anyone out there, if you're in British Columbia, I encourage you to donate to the 1BC party. If you give $100, you actually need to pay $25 with the tax credits that you get back. Make sure to sign up to volunteer. We also have a link so that you can sign up for lawn signs. And if you're in her riding, she can make sure to drop you off a lawn sign for your house.
00:28:07.420 1 BC, we're running in 38 ridings. We're still trying to get Elections British Columbia to
00:28:12.640 actually honor the fact that we absolutely put these people on the ballot as 1 BC people,
00:28:17.400 and they're using technical issues to try and pretend that they're not. We're fighting that.
00:28:22.220 But in all the ridings that we're in, we're pushing really hard to make sure that we can
00:28:25.800 get some MLAs across the finish line and actually represent conservative values inside the legislature.
00:28:31.500 But with all that being said, thank you guys for watching, and I'll see you all next time.
