Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here. You will not be shocked to hear that another Canadian politician
00:00:06.860
is deliberately failing just to try and take a shot at Donald Trump. So last week, we had to
00:00:15.340
deal with Ontario Premier Doug Ford running these ads quoting Ronald Reagan to try and go after
00:00:22.160
Donald Trump for his tariffs. Now, I don't like the tariffs. Also, this was an obviously stupid
00:00:29.340
move. In the video I made on it, I accidentally said they cost $75,000. I meant $75 million.
00:00:35.900
So we paid $75 million helping subsidize the American advertising industry to get nothing
00:00:42.540
done. But then Trump slapped another 10% tariff on us and said he's going to walk away from the
00:00:47.700
negotiating table with Canada. Now, people are saying, well, he's just doing that cynically.
00:00:53.180
Okay, who cares? He did it. And you gave him an excuse to do it. The whole point is that
00:00:59.260
Trump wants the excuse so that other countries don't think he might do it to them because,
00:01:03.720
hey, they're not running around Ronald Reagan ads. He knows that he's just poking at Canada
00:01:07.800
to try and get more concessions because we're not negotiating properly. We don't put anything
00:01:12.620
on the table in terms of demands. We don't make any concessions saying we will do this,
00:01:17.040
but you have to do this. We don't make any threats. We don't do anything. That's really
00:01:22.200
been the main leak that's been coming out of the negotiations that the Canadian officials
00:01:26.300
can't negotiate. Dominic LeBlanc and Melanie Jolie can't offer anything because Mark Carney
00:01:32.500
has basically drawn lines around things that they're allowed to talk about and things they're
00:01:36.560
not allowed to talk about. And you can't negotiate with having all of these red lines where you can't
00:01:41.620
talk about, you know, the, what is it, supply management. You can't talk about other duties
00:01:46.480
that Canada has in our economy and other restrictions to American media and whatnot in our economy.
00:01:51.720
Obviously, you're not going to get anywhere when you're not letting your own trade representatives
00:01:56.080
go anywhere with the conversation. But we ended up having Ford today discuss the fact that he
00:02:03.300
actually had cleared his ads with Mark Carney's people before he ran them. And then later on,
00:02:08.320
we're going to get into David Eby, the premier of British Columbia, planning on running his own ads.
00:02:15.660
Can you talk to the prime minister about this and what, what's, I mean, he was, he's, he was pretty
00:02:19.840
measured in, in Malaysia today about you and about this situation. But have you, what power relations
00:02:26.600
with the prime minister, are things strange now because of what's happened?
00:02:30.020
No, not at all. He saw the ad before I put it out. So it is chief of staff. They both saw it and
00:02:35.120
we move forward on it. But again, we achieved our goal. You know, as we say, mission accomplished,
00:02:41.280
it was done. They're talking about it in the US. And they weren't talking about it before I put the
00:02:46.940
ad on. So I'm glad that Ronald Reagan was. We have a commission accomplished. We got their
00:02:53.960
attention. Did it really cost $75 million to get their attention? You're not going to sway any
00:03:01.220
Americans opinions. Because as soon as the government Ontario symbol comes up to the very end of the ad,
00:03:07.580
it's like, oh, this is Canada doing something. Nobody cares. But now let's jump over to Mr.
00:03:14.640
Eby, who also wants to get in on this action for some reason, because I guess that he sees how
00:03:20.120
unpopular John Rustad is, and he's going to try and make himself as unpopular as fast as possible.
00:03:25.960
So as Mark Nixon had highlighted a couple days ago, Doug Ford humiliates Canada. Trump shuts down
00:03:33.160
negotiations, David Eby, hold my beer. It's like these guys are competing to see who can destroy
00:03:38.820
Canada faster. And that is over top of the headline, BC to unveil its own digital campaign
00:03:44.840
directed at an American audience. Now, I was literally at a press conference just earlier
00:03:49.980
today, because I work at the BC legislature for 1BC. I was at the press conference that they were
00:03:54.960
holding on crime and bail issues with the federal attorney general, Sean Frazier, and another liberal
00:04:02.920
MP. And some media had asked David Eby about his planned ad campaign. And what I found very telling
00:04:09.520
is he was being rather coy about the ad campaign, because he's standing next to two federal liberals.
00:04:15.360
And if he comes out too strongly and says, absolutely, we're going to do it, it's going to start
00:04:19.500
tomorrow. These two guys are kind of obligated to be like, yeah, David, can you not do that?
00:04:25.640
So he kind of acted coy. I'm like, well, you know, we supported Ford's ads. And I think that
00:04:29.840
Americans need more information about what tariffs are doing and blah, blah, blah. But now he's going
00:04:35.560
to go for it. He's going to go for it anyways, as was highlighted by Rob Shaw here, who was at the
00:04:42.820
press conference as well, of course. And he says, David Eby says he intends to follow through with his
00:04:48.340
ad campaign targeting the United States, despite Trump's reaction to Ontario's ads, says it's
00:04:54.000
absolutely essential for Americans to hear about BC softwood lumber, has also asked related Ottawa
00:05:02.780
ministers for an emergency meeting. Now, this is all very hypocritical, because you know what other
00:05:09.940
country has a lot of tariffs against Canada? China, specifically tariffs on canola oil and our seafood
00:05:17.580
industry, which obviously affects not only the Maritimes, but British Columbia. Has David Eby
00:05:24.000
drafted up any ads in Mandarin to run in China to let them know why what their government is doing
00:05:29.740
is wrong? Well, no, because the BC NDP government is an ally of China. Frankly, our federal government
00:05:35.980
is an ally of China. At this point, they save all their ire for the United States. All the elbows up
00:05:40.740
rhetoric was about the United States. Nothing about China, who, you know, interferes in elections and
00:05:45.720
whatnot. And this was highlighted by the one BC party leader Dallas Brody in question period just
00:05:52.740
now. I'm bringing this to you guys like as live as I can get it. We had Dallas Brody stand up and
00:05:59.060
go after them on this issue because of how hypocritical it is. Not only is it getting us
00:06:03.440
absolutely nowhere, but it also is not actually targeted at the right country. So check this out.
00:06:10.340
He criticizes Trump, but you know who the premier will never criticize? The dictator of communist China,
00:06:18.820
Xi Jinping. China interferes in our elections, holds our citizens hostages, and has even imposed 100%
00:06:27.120
tariffs on our canola and seafood sectors. Chinese tariffs have decimated BC businesses.
00:06:33.160
But instead of retaliating and railing against China like he does with Trump, the premier rewarded
00:06:40.780
our economic enemies in China with a multi-billion dollar BC ferries contract. Mr. Speaker, my question
00:06:47.160
is for the premier. Since he's denouncing our biggest trade partner, the United States, will the premier
00:06:53.080
also denounce communist China and its dictator, Xi Jinping? And now you are going to hear the limpest
00:07:00.760
answer in your life. And by the way, that was the supplemental question that Dallas Brody had.
00:07:05.260
She'd asked an opening question about why David Eby is putting our economy at risk in British Columbia,
00:07:12.200
basically for the sole purpose of just making Trump mad. Let's run some ads to make Trump mad. And
00:07:18.560
that's basically the end goal is we're going to make a bad. And then we're going to get our own
00:07:23.240
economy hurt. And in responding to both of these, premier David Eby would not stand up, even though
00:07:30.040
whenever Dallas Brody or the house leader of the one BC sitting next to Dallas Brody there,
00:07:35.380
Kara Armstrong, whenever they ask a question, they always go white hot after them saying, oh,
00:07:41.160
you're racist, you're transphobic, you deny residential schools or whatever the smear is that week.
00:07:46.460
They always get unhinged mad at the one BC MLAs. But when you ask this question,
00:07:52.900
not only did the premier not stand up, but the person who did stand up, who previously had accused
00:07:57.220
Dallas of being a racist, and he's like foaming at the mouth screaming, Ravi Kallon gets up and he's
00:08:03.300
very, uh, he's very prim and proper. And well, you know, we believe that we need to educate Americans.
00:08:09.520
Listen to this. It's so limp for all these people who always go so hot on the one BC MLAs.
00:08:14.900
They start to get really coy when asked answering this question, because they are walking obviously in a
00:08:20.560
minefield because the premier David Eby has put BC in a stupid position right now to satiate his own
00:08:26.940
ego. Minister. Thank you, Honourable Speaker. We continue to make the case to our friends in the US
00:08:34.460
that the tariffs on our forest sector are having a disproportionate impact not only on workers and
00:08:40.300
families on our side of the border, but also across the border. He's saying this at the same time,
00:08:46.200
the BC NDP have increased stumpage fees have restricted the amount of cutting that can be done
00:08:51.840
by the logging industry. They've been beating the industry to death themselves well before Trump ever
00:08:58.200
showed up on the scene. And they're going to try and cast aspersions at the US now because of all
00:09:04.160
the effects. They act like all the negative effects started five minutes ago. They did not. And again,
00:09:10.300
okay, we get that there is a problem with tariffs on softwood lumber. I don't like it. But why is he
00:09:16.180
immediately dodging and won't talk about the seafood industry? I don't know why this member continues to
00:09:22.640
deny that that impact is hurting families in our communities. It continues to hurt families in our
00:09:27.440
communities. And so I think all of us should be standing up for forestry. I know because when I
00:09:33.980
look across the way and I talk to colleagues across the way, they understand how important these jobs are
00:09:38.140
to our communities, Honourable Speaker. And why don't you cut taxes, cut regulations, lower stumpage fees,
00:09:44.080
all these things. I love how these people always talk about how important things are. And they won't
00:09:48.300
do anything about it. They make speeches about it, but they don't actually do anything substantial to
00:09:53.200
help the industry. And I don't want subsidies. The industry doesn't want subsidies. Just make it
00:09:57.880
easier for them to actually run their own businesses and they're fine. But as soon as Trump popped up,
00:10:02.560
they're like, oh my goodness, we can scapegoat every stupid thing we've done for the past eight years on
00:10:06.780
Trump. We continue to make the case for all communities to lower trade barriers, Honourable Speaker. The
00:10:12.160
Premier has made several trips to Asia to make sure that we can strengthen our trade opportunities.
00:10:17.480
And on top of that, Honourable Speaker, we've committed to all of our partners across the country
00:10:22.160
that we will do our part to make sure when their goods are coming to British Columbia that we help
00:10:27.140
them find new markets as well, Honourable Speaker. So we're not going to apologize for fighting out for
00:10:33.180
workers in British Columbia. I certainly hope that the members can turn their heads away from being so
00:10:39.840
pro-Trump that they realize that they also represent people in this community.
00:10:43.800
So where is the answer about China? He didn't even mention China because the NDP end up acting
00:10:50.880
effectively as a partner organization of the CCP because the CCP can pretty much get away with
00:10:57.260
whatever they want and the NDP will not mention them at all. Frankly, even the BC conservatives will
00:11:03.760
barely mention them at all. The fairy issue a little bit because it's a safe issue. But if you go
00:11:08.600
anywhere else with China, they very much start tiptoeing because everyone in British Columbia
00:11:14.000
in the elite political class does not want the CCP, doesn't want the Chinese embassies to stop
00:11:20.700
inviting them to the events. They want to be nice. They also have this frankly odd view that like
00:11:26.680
Chinese people in British Columbia like the CCP. Yeah, you'll find some. The majority hate the CCP.
00:11:33.820
So why are you acting like they're all like part of like the Red Guard? It's actually kind of gross
00:11:39.400
the way that they treat Chinese British Columbians as if they may be like beholden to the CCP and you've
00:11:45.640
got to be careful about criticizing them. No, in fact, they will not vote for a party that will not
00:11:50.380
criticize them. Anyways, what was David Eby doing when he went to Asia? Because I find this all kind
00:11:57.460
of ridiculous. I'm going to go on to their Facebook just to show it to you guys. So did he go to China
00:12:03.460
and stick his finger in Xi Jinping's face and let him know, hey, you're not going to tariff our
00:12:08.360
industry? Well, no, but you went to Japan to go look at a bag of chips, literally.
00:12:15.040
Hey, it's David Eby. I'm here in Japan at a Japanese supermarket found hard by chips right out of
00:12:20.980
Suri, BC and then real earth chocolates out of Pitt Meadows. We got the best food in the world and it's
00:12:26.040
right here at just a regular store in Japan. And we're here to make sure more BC products end up
00:12:30.080
on the shelf. Guys, I'm going to be really honest. If you have ever been to Japan, you can confirm
00:12:38.120
that they're actually fairly xenophobic against non-Japanese products. Do I think that there are
00:12:44.180
actually hard by chips and just normal Japanese convenience stores and grocery stores? No,
00:12:50.080
I guarantee that they're not there. They actually have a very big consumer skepticism
00:12:55.260
to potatoes grown outside of Japan. I think they probably just set up effectively a Potemkin
00:13:01.420
village, a potato chip Potemkin village so that David Eby could pretend that where he's like growing
00:13:06.600
economic ties with Japan. You probably found the one store that carried them just to make David happy.
00:13:12.720
And that was it. But anyways, that should be it for this video, guys. I actually am going to be making
00:13:18.300
another video because BC politics has been crazy. And we have new polling out that shows that one BC is
00:13:25.160
in fact at 5%, even though we've only been really operating for about a couple months now.
00:13:30.320
So it is already a fast rise. And it's not a party with like a known brand, like you took over
00:13:35.460
something called the BC Conservatives or the BC Liberals or whatever. So naturally, people already
00:13:40.300
select that option because they don't realize that it used to not be much of a thing. Because
00:13:44.200
John Rustad always had the advantage of taking over a party called the BC Conservatives. And you know,
00:13:49.700
people kind of want a conservative option. And when it's literally called conservative,
00:13:52.580
it's easy to choose. Although Rustad's beating that brand to death right now. And so one BC,
00:13:57.640
even though it doesn't have any prior name recognition, we are already actually converting
00:14:02.060
a high amount of people who end up hearing about us. We also had this crazy thing the other day,
00:14:06.900
and I'll have to cover it, where the BC legislature got very, very mad. All the MLAs, except for
00:14:12.600
three others than the one BC MLAs. So we had Tara Armstrong, Dallas Brody, and then we had Jordan
00:14:18.660
Keeley, the Independent. Then we had Harmon Bangu and Heather Maas. They were the only ones to vote
00:14:23.780
on first reading in favor of a law to ban land acknowledgements from public institutions. The
00:14:30.540
idea that you cannot deliver an anti-Canadian land acknowledgement on the public dime, especially
00:14:36.340
with in schools, with school children who effectively can't say no in repeating your left-wing
00:14:42.000
political mantra. But anyways, but that should be another video for another time. Thank you guys
00:14:47.960
for watching. Check out one BC on Google. If you guys haven't watched, or you haven't joined the
00:14:53.260
party yet, if you're in British Columbia, you don't have to join, but check it out, read the platform,
00:14:57.880
see all that stuff. It is an actual serious party that's actually trying to grow, not like the PPC,
00:15:02.800
or it's just a social media brand. We're going to be setting up EDAs and getting members out there
00:15:08.100
and making sure if there was an election in a winnable riding that we will absolutely
00:15:12.100
hit the doors to be able to try and win it. But anyways, with that all being said,
00:15:16.820
thank you guys for watching, and I'll see you guys all later.
