00:00:29.660 no different than Justin Trudeau. I don't know what is animating them to do this. It hit the
00:00:35.160 headlines, and it was only received negatively, because this is obviously one of the dumbest
00:00:39.740 things they could possibly do. I don't know how this benefits Canada. I don't know how this benefits
00:00:45.120 British Columbia, and we are completely leaving at the lower mainland, because apparently we're just
00:00:50.180 signing away the entire lower mainland. Does this help anyone in the lower mainland? They're going
00:00:55.860 to spin it somehow. They're going to say that we have to do this, or we're not going to be able to

00:01:48.620 deal. They're criticizing the secrecy, the lack of transparency. Who cares? But I'll get to that in
00:01:55.480 just a second. So to get a bit of background on what's going on here, I am going to be reading
00:02:00.520 from this Fraser Institute article first, and then I want to get into some of the details like Premier
00:02:06.300 David Eby in British Columbia pretending he had no clue that this deal was being signed, and then
00:02:12.120 being exposed to have been at the signing this last weekend, and he absolutely knew what was coming
00:02:17.120 down the pike, and still did not inform people. Anyways, so this article, this article's headline
00:02:23.200 reads, Another Blow to BC's Economy, Ottawa Recognizes Aboriginal Title. I'm just going to read a few
00:02:30.140 paragraphs here. It says, The blows keep coming for an increasingly bow-regarded British Columbia,
00:02:36.600 on the heels of a disastrous provincial budget that envisages a largely stagnant economy,
00:02:43.260 historic deficits, and a dizzying rise in government debt, as far as the eye can see,
00:02:48.300 comes news that Carney's government has concluded agreements with the lower mainland-based Musqueam
00:02:54.900 and Indian Band that promised to raise fresh questions about the status of property rights in
00:03:00.800 BC. According to the federal government's news release, the Musqueam and the government of Canada
00:03:06.280 have jointly pledged to recognize Musqueam Aboriginal rights and strengthen Musqueam's roles
00:03:12.460 in fisheries, stewardship, and marine management. One of the three agreements goes further,
00:03:18.640 recognizing that the Musqueam have, quote, Aboriginal rights including title within their traditional
00:03:24.120 territories, unquote, and affirms that the parties intend to establish, quote, a framework for
00:03:30.440 incremental implementation of rights and nation-to-nation relations with Canada. Now, notice here
00:03:37.740 that this news release was dated February 20th. That's odd that we're talking about it on March 2nd.
00:03:44.320 Shouldn't this be old news by now? Well, the federal liberals, Carney's liberal government,
00:03:51.880 snuck in this agreement in a fisheries announcement. Nobody really follows anything that comes out of most
00:03:59.720 ministries, especially the Ministry of Fisheries. Nobody cares. Except they just slipped in one of the most
00:04:06.960 devastating things for property owners in the lower mainland into this fisheries announcement.
00:04:12.040 This was actually uncovered by Juno News, a great independent media outlet that was just scanning
00:04:18.380 around government documents and came across this that is, again, promising to just give Aboriginal title
00:04:25.360 over the vast majority of the population of British Columbia. The vast majority of the population
00:04:31.440 lives in the lower mainland in BC, and all their property is being put under Aboriginal title.
00:04:38.580 Now, this doesn't mean that for if you live in the lower mainland, you're going to get kicked out of
00:04:42.500 your house and your title of your house is going to be given over to the Indigenous band, but with
00:04:48.260 Aboriginal title sitting over top of your house's title, yes, they're not going to take away the house,
00:04:53.660 but maybe you owe a portion of your property taxes to the Musqueam Band, which requires your local
00:04:59.880 municipality to raise taxes because they are now not getting as much revenue out of it because they
00:05:05.540 have to pass more to the Musqueam. Or maybe if you have a dock and you want to rebuild your wooden dock
00:05:11.580 or put up a completely new one, you might have to consult with the Aboriginal band and they are going
00:05:17.480 to charge you archaeological digging fees and stuff like that, or they just outright block a project
00:05:22.580 happening within the territory. This isn't even just over Metro Vancouver. It actually extends quite far
00:05:29.260 up the coast as well, where there could be resource projects being worked on, lots of utilities
00:05:34.220 projects, things, you know, hydro projects could be up there. This is just absolutely insane that this
00:05:40.740 was ever signed. So I always want to show you guys what the map looks like in a second here.
00:05:46.240 It's just beyond anything that you would expect. Like I thought again, now I don't like Mark Carney. I
00:05:53.400 thought he would be smart enough to avoid nonsense like this. Now, now I realize I shouldn't expect
00:05:58.440 anything from this dude, but this is the agreement. This is where Aboriginal title has been recognized,
00:06:05.140 but from the federal government. Look at that. It basically goes a little bit south over the Fraser
00:06:11.880 River, cuts a little bit of the north off of Surrey, takes half a Coquitlam, runs over Burke
00:06:17.640 Mountain up the coast, comes back down, cuts west around Lions Bay, and then grabs up everything,
00:06:25.560 including Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond. Isn't this the funniest thing of all? Apparently we're going to
00:06:31.100 have a new First Nations war because the Cowichan are claiming Richmond, and now the Musqueam are claiming
00:06:38.800 everything. This actually is probably why the Musqueam are actually suing the Cowichan right now to try and
00:06:45.480 overturn the previous Cowichan agreement because the Musqueam had bigger ideas because there are big
00:06:52.100 brained boys and girls out there at the Musqueam band, which is only 1495 people, by the way, and they
00:06:59.300 wanted the whole thing. They were going to come in and beg the whole crowd, and the Carney liberals are
00:07:05.400 letting them. They can say all day long, well, no, no, no, this is not going to affect the property of
00:07:09.760 anyone. You're not going to be kicked out of your own house. Of course this has implications because
00:07:15.440 they only got this deal because they said they want to be more self-sufficient, more economically
00:07:20.740 self-sufficient, which means extortion. It means the Musqueam band are going to find reasons to get
00:07:26.740 cuts out of everything that happens in this territory because it's their ancestral territory.
00:07:32.260 It's their traditional territory. Now, the BC conservatives are calling this agreement out,
00:07:37.540 but they're doing it in the dumbest way possible. One BC leader, Dallas Brody, cut a video this
00:07:43.280 morning, and she is unequivocal. This needs to be reversed. In fact, every liberal MP who knew about
00:07:48.760 it should resign because they should have told their constituents about this. They knew this was
00:07:53.500 going to impact their property, and they said nothing. And it absolutely is going to affect property
00:07:59.240 because how else does this make the Musqueam more economically independent if they're not taking a cut
00:08:04.920 of things. If they're not taking a cut, this doesn't get them anything. If it's just symbolic,
00:08:09.780 it's not symbolic. And if it is symbolic based on the government's definition, this is a demonstration
00:08:16.120 of why symbols matter. But I want to now jump over to David Eby having to admit the fact that he knew
00:08:23.320 this was happening after previously claiming that they did not know. Because in question period today
00:08:29.020 in the House in British Columbia at the BC legislature, the BC NDP claimed that they only
00:08:36.600 found out about this alongside everybody else. The classic Barack Obama move. Oh, well, I read it in
00:08:41.540 the news like everyone else did. How would you not know? Oh, come on. But here is Eby admitting the
00:08:46.980 truth just an hour and a half ago. You said at the outset, Premier, on the Musqueam announcement that
00:08:53.120 you hadn't been briefed on it yet. I find that a bit startling. Did the feds not brief you? Or do you
00:08:59.760 mean you just haven't gotten caught up on it? Can you explain that a bit? Yeah, sure, Les. To the best
00:09:06.440 of my understanding, the provincial government was not briefed at the political level on this. I can't
00:09:10.540 say whether or not at this stage, whether any public service members had line of sight to it.
00:09:15.020 I certainly didn't. But with that said, I'm not surprised that the feds were involved in these
00:09:20.140 conversations. They've been involved with these conversations with Musqueam for a long time. The
00:09:24.340 Sparrow case that found that there were indigenous fishing rights came from Musqueam. Musqueam has a
00:09:30.880 title claim that's about a decade old that they filed claiming against the federal government.
00:09:37.200 And so engaging these conversations entirely appropriate. I think the lesson the federal
00:09:43.180 government is learning over the weekend is that there is a heightened environment for these
00:09:48.360 conversations and these agreements right now. And they have to go above and beyond is a lesson
00:09:52.380 that the provincial government is in no position to lecture people on. We're doing our own work
00:09:56.200 to make sure we're bringing people along on this as well. And we'll be engaging with the feds to
00:10:01.480 understand the implications of the decision for the provincial government while recognizing the
00:10:05.260 importance of this work to be done. What work to be done? Really, the only work that should be done
00:10:10.920 is getting rid of the Indian Act and amending Section 35 of the Constitution to stop allowing nonsense like
00:10:17.700 this happened. Now, we had normal judges. This wouldn't be happening anyways. But apparently,
00:10:22.060 we need it all written out in very clear crayon for them so they can understand that no, you cannot
00:10:28.200 rule that property is somebody else's because their ancestors walked by a rock 400 years ago. That's
00:10:34.700 insane. Metro Vancouver is pretty well developed right now, I would say. I don't think that they had
00:10:41.000 anything to do with the existence of these cities. Apparently, Wayne Sparrow, the chief of the
00:10:45.700 Musqueam must walk out of his house every single day and just marvel at the fact that all of this is
00:10:50.620 because of me. All these skyscrapers are out here because I will that this piece of land exists.
00:10:57.520 It's such a clown show. Here is another post that came out shortly after David Eby was
00:11:05.200 answering these questions. Rob Shaw from Check News says,
00:11:08.960 David Eby's office admits Premier actually attended the Musqueam-Ottawa signing even in his
00:11:28.080 event in person in his riding, but says Premier still unaware of contents. So he was literally at the
00:11:34.960 soiree to hand all of this land over to Aboriginal title and he still didn't know that it was
00:11:41.920 happening. So apparently he is completely stupid. He doesn't know what he's doing and he should
00:11:47.260 probably resign. Another person who should resign, I want to highlight here, is the federal liberal MP
00:11:54.940 for the area of Vancouver Quadra, Wade Grant. Because Grant Wade, Wade Grant, it's one of those two.
00:12:03.980 Wade Grant literally is a member of the Musqueam band. I posted this earlier today. I said, did Wade Grant
00:12:11.140 know about the Musqueam land title deal ahead of time? Seems like he would. Wade is a member of the
00:12:17.200 Musqueam band, a parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Environment, and a liberal MP in Vancouver.
00:12:22.780 And he did not tell the people, the public, his constituents, their land title was going to be
00:12:28.640 undermined by his friends on the band council, his minister, and the prime minister. And no,
00:12:34.200 it's not an overstatement to say his friends on the band council because he used to be a band
00:12:38.500 councillor. He would have been a band councillor for Musqueam when this lawsuit was started. So he works
00:12:45.200 for the liberal government, he's an MP, and he's a Musqueam band member, and somehow his constituents
00:12:52.280 were never told this was happening. This is a massive conflict of interest, to put it mildly.
00:12:58.600 It's absolutely insane that this is happening. And the BC Conservatives have been going out there
00:13:02.800 and saying, well, really, what's so bad about this is the lack of transparency, the secrecy.
00:13:08.880 This is going to cause division. This is an actual post put up by the interim BC Conservative
00:13:14.500 leader, Trevor Halford. Here's his take on all of it. And now he's not 100% wrong, but it's what he
00:13:22.360 leaves out, which is just so baffling to me. Trevor Halford here says, here we go again. Without a word
00:13:29.220 to the nearly 2 million residents affected, the federal government has formally recognized
00:13:33.200 Musqueam Aboriginal rights and title across Metro Vancouver. We have seen what happens in the past
00:13:38.660 when these agreements are done in secrecy behind closed doors. It creates confusion, uncertainty and
00:13:44.080 division in BC. When asked about this agreement, the Premier said he hasn't been briefed. This is
00:13:48.960 unacceptable. How could the Premier not know about an agreement of such significance? Then it later
00:13:54.000 came out that he did know about it. But seriously, Trevor, it creates confusion, uncertainty and division.
00:14:00.680 Maybe it undermines people's property rights. It undermines public and private property rights.
00:14:06.040 In fact, we shouldn't be caring about the crowned land too, the public property, because that's
00:14:10.940 everyone's public property. Not everyone's public property, but especially the Musqueam. That's
00:14:16.460 absolutely insane. But the BC Conservatives couldn't, cannot get this issue right. They'll call it out for
00:14:23.120 being secret. Oh, there's too much secrecy around this. Guys, birthday parties are basically planned in
00:14:30.260 secrecy. The secrecy isn't what makes something wrong. The wrongness of it makes it wrong. The
00:14:35.900 taking away people's private property rights is what makes it wrong. Undermining it with Aboriginal
00:14:41.640 land title is wrong. We had the conservative critic for Indigenous affairs, Scott McInnes,
00:14:50.080 get up and he even said ancestral territory. Don't use the terms like that. You're basically giving
00:14:56.980 them their legal argument that this is their ancestral territory. Their traditional territories
00:15:01.780 is, I think, the specific phrase he used. Stop acquiescing to this. What is this? Stop agreeing with that
00:15:09.260 it's their territory. It's not. It's everyone's territory or the private property right holders. This isn't
00:15:15.680 even good for First Nations people. This is further collectivization of everything for the Indigenous
00:15:22.000 Ban Council. Indigenous people have such high poverty rates because they can't own anything. Yes, they give,
00:15:28.380 they are sometimes given large benefits by their Ban Councils or by the government. But that doesn't
00:15:33.900 really fix the fact that they don't own their own property unless they live off reserve. Those who
00:15:38.240 live on reserve live in such high rates of poverty because you can't own anything. If, in fact, if you
00:15:44.240 complain about it, the Ban Council might turn off the gas to your house or the power or the water because
00:15:49.980 they're allowed to do stuff like that. We need real individualism for First Nations people. Making them
00:15:56.360 live like this is pathetic. And then using them as poverty props to then basically justify these insane
00:16:01.940 agreements that are being signed. But anyways, that should be it for today, guys. Thank you for
