00:00:00.000 Hey guys, so here's an insane story. The Joffrey Lakes Provincial Park in British Columbia is now off limits to non-Indigenous people for over 100 days out of the year.
00:00:13.720 In 2024, it was only 54 days, and in 2023, it was 39 days. It shouldn't be any days. There shouldn't be any amount of days where you have a segregated park where only a certain ethnic group is allowed to use it.
00:00:28.880 And I find it so obnoxious seeing BC Conservatives pretending that they think this is some sort of travesty when they literally support the principle that this decision is being made under.
00:00:39.960 You have BC Conservative MLAs like Scott McInnes and their leader John Rustad disagreeing with this decision at Joffrey Lake.
00:00:48.640 At the same time, they support the principles that led to this decision being made.
00:00:52.700 They support UNDRIP and DRIPA and believe that Native bands should have total veto over what goes on on the territory.
00:01:00.820 And if that's true, why can't they block non-Indigenous people from using a provincial park?
00:01:06.160 Now, after being called out by the three independent MLAs for obviously supporting DRIPA,
00:01:13.880 John Rustad is trying to backpedal recently on a podcast where he pretends that he actually opposes DRIPA now, but then says something completely asinine.
00:01:23.880 We are going to repeal DRIPA, but we will keep using UNDRIP as we move forward with economic reconciliation.
00:01:28.800 If that seemed like a giant distinction without a difference from John Rustad, it's because it is.
00:01:35.360 He's saying he's against DRIPA, but he's in favor of UNDRIP and thinks we should create policies to fall in line with UNDRIP, which is literally what DRIPA is.
00:01:45.060 It's just the legislated version of the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People.
00:01:50.920 DRIPA is now just the BC version of that, basically word for word.
00:01:54.360 So, what's his problem with DRIPA, other than he got called out by the independents for being an unprincipled hack?
00:02:01.980 Anyways, guys, if you don't like DRIPA and you live in BC, please sign the petition at droptripa.ca so that we can push to end this nonsense.
