00:00:00.000 Hey guys, Wyatt Claypool here, and welcome back to the National Telegraph YouTube channel.
00:00:06.360 Now, I didn't expect much from the Mark Carney liberals, but my goodness, they could screw up
00:00:14.200 cereal. The one area of public policy I would give them a compliment on relative to how Trudeau was
00:00:19.920 performing was on immigration. Now, if I was Prime Minister, I would cut the amount of new permanent
00:00:26.120 residents more tfws more and international students but carney has been reducing them
00:00:33.320 until recently where for some reason he may increase the number of tfws again because tim
00:00:41.000 hortons lobbied him literally here's an article from back in december the headline reads tim
00:00:47.720 hortons lobbies mps for more temporary foreign workers over last 18 months and this article
00:00:53.880 stories how Tim Hortons is saying that they can't find workers to you know basically serve people
00:00:59.660 coffee and donuts and so they need more temporary foreign workers and Tim Hortons makes a lot of
00:01:05.260 noise about how they don't use a lot of them they just need a few more and for some reason now the
00:01:11.300 liberals may be reversing course on the one area of government they were doing at least a relatively
00:01:16.560 better job on compared to Justin Trudeau's version of the liberals which let's be clear are effectively
00:01:22.920 the exact same liberal party. The amount of new face is extremely minimal. Even Carney himself
00:01:28.980 is not new face. And they are proving the whole moniker that Carney keeps putting out there that
00:01:34.520 worthy new liberal government is a complete lie. These people act the exact same because shock
00:01:41.140 gasp, the guy who was Trudeau's economic advisor probably isn't going to be able to help out the
00:01:47.360 economy much. Everything Trudeau was doing was advised on by Mark Carney. Now, if you swap out
00:01:54.160 Trudeau with the economic advisor telling him to do stupid stuff, surprise, surprise, stupid stuff
00:02:00.000 keeps happening. I have to bring you guys to this nutty committee meeting that just happened where
00:02:06.060 conservative immigration critic Michelle Rempel-Garner called the immigration minister
00:02:10.460 out for basically lying on the immigration file and bending to corporate pressure for TFWs.
00:02:16.860 And it just becomes a crazy fight in a committee meeting.
00:02:20.920 Obviously, no one's throwing chairs and pulling on each other's hair.
00:02:24.020 It's Parliament.
00:02:25.120 But for Parliament, this got really spicy.
00:02:28.560 But before I get into it, I just want to remind you guys,
00:02:31.740 if you like the channel, make sure to leave a like on this video.

00:02:37.100 I am still trying to get to 100,000 subscribers so I can get my play button.
00:02:42.820 I actually don't care about the play button.
00:02:44.160 I just like round numbers, and 100,000 feels very round to me.
00:02:48.140 I probably would never even put the play button up in the background.
00:02:50.620 I'll use it like as a coaster or whatever.

00:02:57.800 And of course, I always encourage people to leave a comment
00:03:01.000 on what they think about the topic we are discussing today.
00:03:05.380 But now, and thanks to Northern Perspectives
00:03:08.000 for putting out the full context to this clip,
00:03:10.500 Here is the two minute and 15 second fight between Michelle Rempel and the immigration minister, Lina Metlej-Diab.
00:03:21.380 I believe she is the MP for Halifax West and the immigration minister.
00:03:26.020 Yeah. So did you tell your colleague, Patty, to take a flying leap when she said that Tim Hortons should get more temporary foreign workers after the jobs numbers came out last week?
00:03:38.340 like why aren't those jobs going to Canadian workers and why are you guys kowtowing to Tim Hortons
00:03:43.720 so lovely performance as usual madam thank you for the question immediately entering with like
00:03:53.460 the wrong energy if I am Lena Diab's like advisor here I'm like already trying to throw in the towel
00:04:01.380 from like the back benches I'm like oh my goodness you realize this is going to be clipped as soon
00:04:06.100 as you go into that tone. You're like the minister just here to diffuse concerns. I sometimes look at
00:04:12.000 liberals and I'm like, lie better. Like, I know you're lying, but can you at least put it in the
00:04:17.260 effort to lie well so that we don't feel like we're supposed to be like fooled by this? Like
00:04:22.020 we don't, I don't want to feel stupid. Like you're using your worst lying skills on me.
00:04:26.400 Come in with your best, Lena. We have a letter from many conservative members who have written
00:04:32.140 to me and to Minister Haidu and to another minister of requesting those changes, in fact,
00:04:40.440 pleading that they require those changes in their province.
00:04:43.240 That's right. They were pleading to end the temporary foreign worker program and replace
00:04:48.420 it with a standalone program for agriculture.
00:04:50.200 Absolutely not the case.
00:04:51.200 No, it is. And I know for a fact.
00:04:52.360 Absolutely not the case. You were not copied on those letters.
00:04:55.280 Actually, I was. I was. And I saw them. And now you're misleading the committee. Would
00:04:59.320 you like me to read that to you? Or would you like to say that that was a performance
00:05:02.120 too look i get it your colleagues have to cover for you they go to the cbc to say they can't talk
00:05:07.240 to you you don't talk to your your your colleagues and ministers about serious issues like this
00:05:12.040 that's a problem so i'm going to ask you this you were supposed to be here for two hours today
00:05:16.760 why are you leaving at the one hour mark is it because you can't handle basic questions like this
00:05:20.920 like why aren't you fighting for canadian kids jobs that's a that's exactly what we do day in
00:05:26.200 day out i fight for them as the minister the government is fighting for them it's just such a
00:05:42.840 crap show here like if you're the liberals if you wanted to hang your hat on one achievement
00:05:49.320 you would say hey housing prices have gone down in many jurisdictions crime is receding and in
00:05:56.680 large part it's because we're reducing the amount of new people coming into the country
00:06:00.920 and we're making more people leave i would actually give carney a compliment on him actually
00:06:06.680 reducing overall population in the country in 2025 our population actually went down which is a good
00:06:13.940 thing because they stopped handing out automatic tfw renewals but now the liberals are after they
00:06:19.840 got those nice headlines starting to try and ramp back up the tfw program and the problem with it
00:06:25.400 and this has been pointed out by conservatives is that we actually haven't gotten the people
00:06:30.260 out of the country who are supposed to leave and have expired visas before we bring anyone new in
00:06:35.900 that should almost be a requirement that the country does not bring in any tfws if there are
00:06:40.940 TFWs still staying here, overstaying visas? If we know there are 50,000 to 75,000 TFWs who had
00:06:48.460 their visas expire and they're still in the country, that's 75,000 new people who cannot
00:06:53.380 come in. Now, the system is bloated. Well, let's assume we brought it down to a reasonable level
00:06:58.480 across the country. I'm not sure what the reasonable number would be. Well, let's say
00:07:01.880 around the country, there can be 100,000 TFWs brought in or farm work for seasonal jobs in
00:07:08.220 tourist towns, all that sort of thing. But out of that 100,000, if there are still 20,000 TFWs in
00:07:14.900 the country who haven't left on expired visas, then the amount of new people who can come in
00:07:19.660 are only 80,000, which incentivizes the government to actually make sure that people are leaving
00:07:24.780 before a new person can come in. But that's the problem. They can say, oh, well, we made the
00:07:29.700 population go down last year. Like, okay, well, that's nice. But now you're ramping it back up
00:07:35.800 and you're not actually dealing with the rest of the problem if going down a little bit in a year
00:07:39.880 doesn't actually fix the problem it just means we made a dent in the problem you don't get to
00:07:44.080 celebrate making a dent by just making the problem worse now it's so stupid but let's get back uh to
00:07:49.960 this video oh my god rempel garner please calm down uh miss mr fregescato's point of order members
00:07:56.380 of time to ask questions of course i respect that but you over talk to minister mr rempel garner
00:08:01.000 please allow the point of order of course on policy and not turn this into uh personal uh
00:08:07.000 issues i think no no no this is not a point of order this is liberal minutes although apparently
00:08:12.520 what was that point of order just some guy looks like he's a doorman a disco says that you have to
00:08:17.560 ask real questions and you cannot fight with the minister uh try not not not a point of order you
00:08:23.320 You guys are eating my time up because this woman can't answer basic questions on her file.
00:08:28.580 Ms. Rempel-Gardner, please calm down.
00:08:30.380 We have to stop your time.
00:08:31.300 Don't tell a woman to calm down.
00:08:32.600 That's very sexist.
00:08:33.500 Please, Ms. Rempel-Gardner, would you like to finish?
00:08:36.260 You have 39 seconds.
00:08:37.400 I can't imagine.
00:08:39.260 Ms. Rempel-Gardner, did you want to continue with your questions?
00:08:41.780 Yeah, I'm on it.
00:08:43.060 Okay, thank you.
00:08:44.040 I understand why your colleagues, Lena, went to the CBC and said that you don't take questions
00:08:49.120 and that they don't like you and think you're doing a bad job.
00:08:51.500 because you need people to interject over top of you to answer basic questions you should do better
00:08:57.100 you should tell patty not to kowtow to tim hortons you should tell sean to not allow judges to give
00:09:02.860 leniency to non-citizen criminals that's your job and you're not doing it you are a bad minister
00:09:08.120 we are doing our job and you're a bad performer perhaps you should go back to performance thank
00:09:14.560 you miss remple gardner thank you minister so that was that was quite the the session in that
00:09:19.960 committee. Now, if the minister could just say, yeah, Patty Hayes, you had said something about
00:09:25.400 allowing Tim Hortons to bring more people. And I disagree. I'm the minister. I'm not going to do
00:09:29.640 that. She can't say that because they're probably going to do it because the liberals are effectively
00:09:34.420 a corporate party. And I'm not like some anti-corporate guy where if a business has
00:09:39.020 enough revenue that I start to hate them, like, oh my goodness, they bring in billions a year. I now
00:09:42.840 hate them as if I'm some socialist. I don't care. I don't hate Tim Hortons. At the same time,
00:09:48.200 The thing is with the liberals is that they're only like a pro-business party in the sense that they only basically serve businesses big enough to put pressure on them.
00:09:59.380 If you're a small business, they don't care about you.
00:10:02.260 Medium-sized business, maybe they give a crap if like they're like the MP in your specific riding and you're a big enough business in there.
00:10:09.620 But really, they just care about the very large corporations, which means that they pass the dumbest regulations and they never reform taxes.
00:10:18.200 because the corporations or the businesses who can survive over regulation and over taxation
00:10:24.760 are the large ones we have a really big corporate consolidation problem in canada
00:10:29.960 and it's not because mergers themselves or a large company buying up a smaller company
00:10:35.240 is inherently bad the problem is is that taxes and regulations are so high in canada that you can only
00:10:42.440 survive if you are running at like the peak at peak efficiency a small town grocer can't really
00:10:49.800 survive so the only places that exist are big box grocery stores places that are so efficient and so
00:10:56.920 well known that they have the customer base and the way of maintaining margins in order to survive
00:11:02.840 and even those businesses can't exactly survive especially the ones who rely on small franchisees
00:11:08.680 like tim hortons in a certain sense i sympathize a little bit for with tim hortons because it
00:11:13.960 probably is that the economy sucks so bad that they want tfw's to offset their costs because
00:11:20.040 you can just afford to pay people pretty much nothing in order to work at your business if
00:11:25.000 they're a tfw because they don't expect very much now tim hortons has been putting out some like
00:11:29.560 really dumb propaganda about how oh guys no we don't actually hire that many tfws although they're
00:11:35.960 literally advocating for this they're literally like lobbying for more tfws we only have like
00:11:42.360 we only a hundred thousand employees and only 1500 of them are tfws it's like well now only
00:11:49.640 1500 of them are tfws you're lobbying for more so one and a half percent of your workers are tfws
00:11:57.720 but that doesn't even count international students who are only capped in how many
00:12:02.200 hours they can work per week. I believe it's 24 hours a week. Those people tend to be a large
00:12:08.160 portion of the Tim Hortons workforce as well. And then new permanent residents. Now, there's no
00:12:13.700 problem with permanent residents working at fast food chains. It's not like I'm mad, like, no,
00:12:18.540 these are good Canadian jobs that must be only given out to citizens. But the problem with so
00:12:23.800 many of these companies is that they rely on newcomers who don't really have expectations,
00:12:28.500 and they don't have the ability to really bargain for higher amounts of money.
00:12:32.540 And I'm not making a union argument.
00:12:34.160 I'm just saying that you have people who basically have to take whatever they want.
00:12:37.740 It's not some guy who's like 18 or 20 saying,
00:12:40.520 hey, I've worked here for two and a half years.
00:12:42.980 Can I be bumped up from 15 in an hour to 17 or 17 and a half?
00:12:46.480 I'm pretty efficient.
00:12:47.440 You like me.
00:12:48.500 They can just say, well, you know, screw you.
00:12:50.040 I can just go hire a new TFW and have them be back down at minimum.
00:12:54.180 Plus, they're even partially sometimes subsidized based on other benefits
00:12:57.500 that they end up getting it's all so dumb for the liberals to be feeding into this this is like
00:13:03.260 the most unpopular thing they are currently doing or that this is the most unpopular thing that the
00:13:09.500 liberals were doing up until carney started reversing the flow of people a little bit
00:13:14.100 and now they're going to do it more they're indicating that to michelle remple because
00:13:19.460 they couldn't say no no we're not going to do that they couldn't say it they could just insult
00:13:23.180 her. But anyways, that should be it for this video, guys. I don't want to go on too long on
00:13:28.500 this topic because I might come up with another one a little bit later today. But yeah, like
00:13:34.200 Carney, like there's nothing good for me to say pretty much anymore. Immigration was like the one
00:13:39.400 area I could give him again, that C plus or B minus. And he's like throwing it away for like
00:13:44.640 corporate approval that's only going to lose him votes. Now I invite him to lose himself votes.
00:13:49.100 I'd love to see him lose an election, but it just demonstrates just how facile and stupid a lot of
00:13:54.600 politicians are. Anyways, with that all being said, thank you guys for watching. Like, share,
