The arrest, and then subsequent release without charges, of rebel news reporter David Menzies
00:00:04.840
has created international headlines for good reason.
00:00:07.800
And I'm going to make the argument, it's so much worse than what you just saw.
00:00:11.560
Canada is not a first world country for journalism.
00:00:14.800
Is it like, you know, a corrupt African dictatorship?
00:00:19.720
But there's a gap between where it should be there and where Canada is.
00:00:27.560
David Menzies goes up to Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister, an elected official,
00:00:31.360
and asks her a question about the IRGC, which she promised to list as a terrorist organization
00:00:36.320
in 2018, and has neglected to do so despite multiple terrorist attacks by the IRGC directed
00:00:45.680
Now, oh, he was being aggressive, you don't have the right to harass a reporter, but...
00:00:51.240
If you're running for office anywhere in Canada, you have the right, and it's aggressive journalism,
00:00:59.480
Anyone can go up to, if you see Pierre Polyev on the street, and you're like, oh, you're
00:01:04.120
like, you're mad at him, you're like, Pierre Polyev, what do you think about the environment
00:01:07.240
and the carbon tax, and aren't we all going to die in 15 minutes because Greta Thunberg
00:01:11.820
And then it's Pierre Polyev's responsibility, as someone who's trying to assume leadership
00:01:17.420
Now, he can ignore it and walk by and say, not now.
00:01:22.240
He can't go and punch her, and the cops can't come and throw this woman in a gulag.
00:01:27.640
And what's worse than what happened to David Menzies in the moment, in my opinion, is everything
00:01:33.180
that happened before and everything that happened after it.
00:01:35.900
You see a bunch of Canadian press journalists coming out and go, oh, Rebel News isn't real
00:01:42.240
Yes, okay, they have a center-right slant to their news.
00:01:48.580
Yeah, Rebel News has got things wrong over their career.
00:01:55.580
They've also done some real legitimate journalism.
00:01:57.580
Who uncovered the fact that the Chinese aren't...
00:01:59.580
The Canadians were training the Chinese PLA in winter combat?
00:02:05.580
Okay, so the courts have ruled in Rebel News' favor because this isn't the first time that
00:02:10.580
the Liberal government has gone after Rebel News.
00:02:11.580
As I said, everything before and after is worse.
00:02:14.580
To understand the Trudeau government's entire censorship or what they're doing right now,
00:02:21.580
you have to look at it in the context of what they've been doing since 2015.
00:02:24.580
It's been a priority of the Liberal government under Justin Trudeau to monopolize the flow of
00:02:30.580
The most famous one was the $600 million bailout to the mainstream media to preserve independent
00:02:37.580
Yes, by having the government funding something, it makes it independent.
00:02:41.580
No, and then they'll say, I'm mixing things, but they'll always say something about, oh,
00:02:45.580
we need to protect Canadian this, Canadian content, Canadian this.
00:02:48.580
Whenever you hear the Canadian government talk about Canadian content, what that means
00:02:52.580
is content regulated by the Canadian government.
00:02:55.580
It doesn't mean content created by the Canadian people.
00:03:00.580
So what the Liberals are trying to do is get more and more and more journalists under
00:03:05.580
And if you go under government purview and you walk the line, you have all the freedoms
00:03:15.580
And media outlets like Rebel News, like True North, independent ones, were playing outside
00:03:23.580
And they tried to bar them from their press conferences when they were running for office.
00:03:27.580
And the Canadian courts ruled in the favor of these journalists like outlets, media outlets,
00:03:36.580
We've ruled that, yes, Rebel News has the right to ask questions of politicians.
00:03:43.580
But you see many, many, many, many journalists and establishment types trying to convince you
00:04:02.580
And then your son would be like, yes, way to stand up to Rebel News, who's asking a
00:04:06.580
legitimate question about a terrorist organization that's murdered Canadians and continues to harass
00:04:11.580
And you supported trans rights, which is the Islamic Republic that ran in some way.
00:04:16.580
You cannot have your thugs pounce on Menzies and throw them in jail as an intimidation tactic.
00:04:24.580
But the Liberals have been going under this full push to monopolize the flow of information.
00:04:29.580
They fund, and there's been tons and tons, there's billions that have flowed from the
00:04:33.580
Canadian government into the hands of the major media establishment.
00:04:36.580
And you saw the results of that in the Freedom Convoy where journalists were just outright
00:04:40.580
pulling pieces and footage and then, like, hours later putting up the government narrative
00:04:44.580
because, you know, there was a complete fatwa on the truth within the establishment media
00:04:49.580
and the Convoy, which is why alternative media became so big there.
00:04:52.580
We were there just filming, showing you what was happening on the ground.
00:04:54.580
Like, this is what they're talking, people could see that.
00:04:57.580
Then it became, oh no, news is a problem because if people keep getting independent media,
00:05:03.580
Like, anyone can kind of be a journalist these days.
00:05:07.580
Like, this isn't the 1920s where, like, you'd have to, like, really invest in a camera
00:05:11.580
and save your shots and know how to develop them and be economical.
00:05:14.580
Like, ding, ding, ding, ding, record, this happened here.
00:05:17.580
Like, so, to protect Canadian content, which is content regulated by the government,
00:05:26.580
So, this is like the Online Streaming Act where they're trying to get, one,
00:05:29.580
all internet content that streams, like videos like this, regulated under Canadian content
00:05:34.580
and news content, so I would have to submit these to government regulations
00:05:37.580
and because I won't do that, I'm not Canadian content, then I don't get promoted in Canada.
00:05:40.580
That's another way to depress content that is, you know, outside the purview,
00:05:46.580
but still pretend to have alternative media because it'll just be regulated alternative media.
00:05:49.580
And then you have C-18, which wants to protect the journal.
00:05:54.580
Oh, these, guys, don't you believe now how much Trudeau loves journalism?
00:05:58.580
Don't you believe, Trudeau just loves journalism so much?
00:06:01.580
And it's the big tech companies that are stealing from us.
00:06:06.580
Oh, because he really wants to protect journalists.
00:06:15.580
He's gonna give money from Facebook and Google and whatever to the news people who are stealing it.
00:06:25.580
He made news on Meta and soon-to-be Google financially inviolable for these companies in Canada.
00:06:31.580
So we just don't see the news, win for Trudeau, and he gets to pretend that he's defending journalism the entire time.
00:06:37.580
And because he has that funded tunnel of acceptable opinions, they keep on promoting and promoting and promoting.
00:06:46.580
So every journalist who is not defending David Benzies in Rebel News here is a traitor, is an absolute traitor to the profession.
00:06:56.580
And in ten years, when this all comes back and blows up in your face and you're screaming to the hills, I will be there to say, I told you so.
00:07:05.580
So, you created the situation in which journalists didn't have rights depending on who likes them and who doesn't like them and if they had opinions outside the norm or not.
00:07:13.580
Because sooner or later, the Overton window of acceptable opinions is gonna exclude literally everyone but the most insane person imaginable.
00:07:25.580
So, Canada, if you want to support The National Talker for What Do, there's a link in my bio and description you can support there.
00:07:52.580
What are the last charities that you want to do with us in this world?
00:08:13.580
So, I always remember using freebai- MATTF тысяч developed and Значитamız integration?
