00:01:59.000 battlefield. The early church fought over the identity of Christ. Was he truly God? Was he

00:02:04.500 truly man? Was he both? Was he one person with two natures? The medieval church fought to preserve

00:02:10.440 Christian civilization against heresy and invasion and institutional corruption. The

00:02:15.900 crusaders battled against Islam and forward invasions. The reformers fought to recover

00:02:21.800 biblical Christianity from the accumulated errors of Rome. The Puritans fought for a thoroughly 0.56

00:02:27.600 Christian ordering of worship, family, church, and public life. The early 20th century theologians

00:02:33.440 confronted modernism and liberal theology and the rise of the cults. C.S. Lewis fought the collapse

00:02:39.740 of the Christian imagination and the reduction of man to mere matter. And most recently, the 0.90

00:02:45.560 generations before us fought the prosperity gospel and therapeutic Christianity and the

00:02:51.000 commercialization of the faith. But our generation's great battle is anthropological.

00:02:57.320 What is a man? What is a woman? What is a child? What is a baby? What is a marriage? What is a

00:03:02.900 family? What is a nation? What is a citizen? What is a foreigner? What authority belongs to a father

00:03:08.580 and to a mother and to a husband and a pastor and a magistrate? How are these people supposed

00:03:13.980 to relate to one another. We are fighting over the basic architecture of human existence.

00:03:21.180 Feminism and radical individualism did not merely challenge a few customs. They are perverting the

00:03:28.140 biblical definitions of sex and family and authority and duty and belonging. And then

00:03:33.440 they tell us that all of the confusion was a result of our lack of liberation. Now, we live

00:03:40.360 in a civilization that can split the atom. We can map the genome. We can communicate across the

00:03:47.180 planet in seconds, but we cannot answer the question right now, what is a woman? And that 1.00

00:03:53.640 is our fight. And if the church cannot recover a biblical doctrine of man and woman and marriage

00:03:59.560 and patriarchy and family and authority and created order, that it will not merely lose

00:04:05.580 a cultural argument. It will lose the ability to explain what human beings are. We have to realize

00:04:12.260 that where order is rejected, flourishing eventually disappears. We don't pretend that

00:04:19.180 the subject and the king occupy the same station, that the soldier and the general bear the same

00:04:25.340 authority, that the child and the father are interchangeable, or that the sheep or maybe the

00:04:30.720 shepherd have identical roles. They don't. No, to reverse those relationships would be a form of

00:04:36.860 disorder. But to pretend that those stations and those distinctions don't exist at all is just

00:04:42.600 flat-out foolish. And as we know, God has not created us as a mass of interchangeable individuals,

00:04:50.020 but as male and female, and then placed us within a variety of ordered relationships,

00:04:56.020 complete with authority and responsibility and protection and submission. And we know that

00:05:00.640 ignoring or abandoning God's order results in relational confusion and weakness and chaos.

00:05:07.220 And we know that a son without a father is exposed, and a flock without a shepherd scatters,

00:05:13.840 and a Christian without pastoral oversight is vulnerable, or a woman without a patriarch

00:05:19.180 is unguarded. Now, the term patriarchy comes from two Greek words, pater and arche,

00:05:27.000 And that means together, father rule, right?

00:05:30.380 You have that patriot, that fatherland, that patriarchy, that root word there.

00:05:35.820 Now, scripture frequently uses the word patriarch.

00:05:40.100 The exact term patriarchy doesn't appear in the Bible, but neither does the word trinity.

00:05:46.680 See, both are theological terms used to describe doctrines that scripture clearly conveys and

00:05:52.760 reveals in the text.

00:05:54.500 Now, let me just offer you a quick theological lesson, okay?

00:05:58.200 This is very important.

00:05:59.420 God makes truth known in two ways.

00:06:01.500 Now, the first, God calls special revelation, which is the written word of God.

00:06:06.800 The second is what theologians call general revelation, which is the testimony of creation

00:06:13.800 through creation.

00:06:15.960 Romans 1 teaches that God's invisible attributes are made evident through what he has made.

00:06:20.880 And so we agree that nature cannot preach Christ crucified, but it can reveal enough about God

00:06:28.100 and his order to leave man without excuse for his atheism. And that matters because

00:06:34.460 patriarchy is revealed in both scripture and nature. And that's important because even if

00:06:40.320 someone rejects the Bible, they still have to reckon with the patriarchy embedded in humanity.

00:06:46.180 So the question is not whether we will live under patriarchy, but what kind of patriarchy?

00:06:53.100 Will it be passive and weak patriarchy? Will it be brutal and domineering patriarchy? Or will it be

00:06:59.720 Christian patriarchy that is ordered and sacrificial and protective and accountable to God? 0.61

00:07:06.260 And that's the big myth, right? It's not that America right now doesn't have a patriarchy.

00:07:12.240 It's that the patriarchy we do have is passive. It's impotent. It has low T.

00:07:18.560 Okay. What I mean by that is that matriarchy under feminism is never real. Okay. Matriarchy 1.00

00:07:25.540 is a mirage wrongly permitted by the patriarchy. And scripture makes this very clear that while 0.66

00:07:32.220 patriarchy can be good or bad, matriarchy is always bad. And so before I explain what kind

00:07:39.240 of patriarchy America needs, I want to go back to the Garden of Eden before the sin of the world

00:07:45.620 came in and ruined and brought death and show that patriarchy was not merely a response to the fall.

00:07:53.040 Okay, male headship over women and children was already present and affirmed in the created order.

00:07:58.860 And what this means is this, even if mankind had never fallen into sin, male rule, female help

00:08:06.220 and submission and paternal authority would have still remained in a very perfect world.

00:08:13.140 And that tells us something very important. Patriarchy, rightly ordered, is good. It's good.

00:08:20.200 And matriarchy is always bad. Okay, when you understand that patriarchy is just God's design

00:08:27.740 for human relationships, you're going to understand why feminism is so evil and why 0.98

00:08:32.880 individualism is so damaging. And so if you want order back into a chaotic country, or peace back 0.94

00:08:41.440 into your marriage, or children under a steady hand, or women protected from evil, Christian 0.93

00:08:48.780 patriarchy is required. It is the frame of the house. Now, in the garden, there are at least 0.95

00:08:56.740 five implicit examples that demonstrate that God's will is for patriarchy. First, Adam is

00:09:05.560 created before Eve. Okay. Genesis two verse seven records the creation of man. And only later does

00:09:13.940 God form the woman from the man. Now that chronology matters because the new Testament

00:09:20.460 itself treats it as meaningful. Paul writes in 1 Timothy 2.13, for Adam was formed first,

00:09:28.420 then Eve. And he's using that as an argumentation for authority and hierarchy. Now again, in 1

00:09:34.700 Corinthians 11, verses 8 through 9, man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was 0.91

00:09:42.440 man created for woman, but woman for man. So Adam possesses a creational priority. See, Eve enters 0.82

00:09:52.320 an order already established between God and Adam and the creation. So that's point number one.

00:09:58.380 Point number two is Adam was given a kingly glory to rule under God over the created order,

00:10:07.280 including Eve. Now, he was not merely another creature among creatures, right? He was deputized

00:10:14.760 by God to exercise dominion in God's name. He was a ruler like God. Now, Adam answered directly to

00:10:23.320 God, not to the angels, not to the archangels, or any other earthly authority. Man was, therefore,

00:10:29.240 formed to rule, okay? With the physical strength, the disposition, the faculties suited to lead and

00:10:35.460 to govern and to protect and to exercise that dominion. So God made him to stand as the head

00:10:42.540 of the created order and as a vice regent under that divine authority. Now his rule was real,

00:10:50.040 but never autonomous, right? So Adam was a king, but a king under God. Number three,

00:10:56.280 Eve is created as Adam's helper. So God does not say that Adam needs to be a co-ruler independent

00:11:07.440 of him. Okay. He says, I will make a helper fit for him. That's Genesis 2.18. Now her creation

00:11:16.180 is explicitly oriented toward Adam and toward the task that God had already entrusted to him.

00:11:23.100 help Adam fulfill God's call on Adam's life. Again, equality of worth does not erase distinction

00:11:32.860 of station. So Eve is equally human, equally made in the image of God, and equally necessary

00:11:39.220 to mankind's calling. Yet her role and nature are subordinate. They're not equal or identical.

00:11:47.560 And so the same implicit reality we see in Adam, that he was essentially made to rule

00:11:52.520 and essentially be equipped by God biologically for that particular task. We also see that in

00:11:59.640 Eve, right? So she was created as a subordinate helper and God equipped her accordingly,

00:12:05.520 biologically. She wasn't a rival to Adam in size or strength. She wasn't given the same

00:12:11.240 physical faculties or testosterone for dominion or combat or command, right? Her body was instead

00:12:18.940 uniquely ordered toward bearing and nourishing and caring for life. And as I mentioned earlier,

00:12:26.240 general revelation or nature or their bodies themselves essentially testify that equality 0.90

00:12:32.940 between the sexes is a myth. Number four, so Adam names the woman and he already named the creatures,

00:12:44.240 We saw that in Genesis. He names the creatures and God placed them under his dominion. But then

00:12:50.300 upon receiving Eve, he declares, she shall be called woman because she was taken out of man.

00:12:58.220 And after the fall, he actually is the one that names her Eve. And so throughout the Bible,

00:13:04.340 naming is an expression of authority and identification and responsibility. Now,

00:13:08.900 Adam does not discover that a female exists, right? No, he receives her from God, identifies

00:13:17.280 her as his own, and then he names her. Okay, in fact, this is why a woman traditionally takes 0.99

00:13:25.740 her husband's last name. I mean, this is still in play right now. At the wedding, her father

00:13:31.020 hands his headship over to his son-in-law. And so the daughter who bore her father's surname

00:13:39.620 lays that down and takes her husband's surname as she sits in a subordinate position moving from

00:13:47.340 her father and then moving now to her husband. And she has never had, I mean, this is the truth,

00:13:52.540 women never have a last name of their own. She is named under a man. So first, again, as a daughter, 0.79

00:13:59.000 than as a wife. Now, scripture and like the whole record of Christian peoples treat her identity as

00:14:05.880 gathered into her father or her husband, essentially her patriarch. And this is why 0.96

00:14:13.880 the feminist who, you know, quote, keeps their own name or hyphenates her name, it's just retarded. 1.00

00:14:20.780 She wants to refuse the transfer of identity from one man, say her husband, while she's still 1.00

00:14:28.740 living under the identity of another man, which is her father. And so she wants to keep her

00:14:35.880 father's last name instead of keeping her husband's name. They're both names of men.

00:14:41.280 Now, again, it can seem like a small rebellion when this happens, these kind of hyphenated last

00:14:45.800 names, but it's really a resistance to marriage and to patriarchy as a whole. It's a resistance

00:14:51.300 of not wanting to become one with your husband. Now, when an effeminate man says, oh, I'll take

00:14:58.200 my wife's name, you know, because her father had no sons and I want to carry on the name.

00:15:02.820 Okay. It sounds noble, right? But it actually rejects the providence of God, one, in ending

00:15:07.920 that patriarchal paternal line. And instead of honoring his father by establishing and extending

00:15:15.440 to his own household, he basically symbolically, because it's not real, graphs himself into another

00:15:21.560 man's line and assumes the identifying role of belonging to the wife. It's a form of like an

00:15:28.280 ancestral transgenderism, and it's not good. Now, since we're on the topic of patriarchy, 1.00

00:15:35.980 naming and responsibility and all these things, another way that we know that God has assigned

00:15:44.020 Adam, this kind of patriarchal responsibility over Eve, is that after sin entered into the world,

00:15:51.760 God did not call Eve or even them both to himself, but he only called Adam. Now, this is important

00:15:59.260 because the rules for morality were not given to Adam and Eve. They were given to Adam alone as the

00:16:06.700 head and representative of his family. Now, think about this just for a moment. Both of them had

00:16:12.440 sinned, yet God does not call Adam and Eve or Eve. You don't see it in the scripture at all. He calls

00:16:19.440 Adam because he was the responsible party. And when it comes to their expulsion, when they get

00:16:25.820 kicked out of the garden, again, God only mentions the expulsion of Adam. And here's why.

00:16:34.780 Because in Adam's expulsion, Eve's is included. Okay. You see, God sees them as one covenant

00:16:44.560 household with Adam as the head and a representative before God. He is the authority.

00:16:50.800 And the last sign of patriarchal responsibility is that even though Eve sinned first, right? So

00:17:00.320 she's the one that essentially is tempted. She's the one that takes the fruit. She hands it off 0.93

00:17:07.440 to her husband who also eats after her. But the sin is assigned in the scriptures,

00:17:14.840 not to Adam and Eve, but to Adam alone. So her sin is wrapped up in his sin. He is responsible

00:17:23.440 for the state of his wife. So again, all of this existed in a perfect world before sin entered

00:17:31.040 into creation. So patriarchy, again, is not some sort of post-fall solution to human wickedness.

00:17:37.160 It belongs to the original design of man and woman in a perfect world. But if God established

00:17:46.100 a good order, then we should expect counterfeits to arise that imitate or distort or subvert

00:17:55.560 that order. And so the next thing that I want to do is just a few things. One, I want to

00:18:02.060 examine the false forms of male and female structures that twist God's design.

00:18:07.780 I want to show why rightly ordered patriarchy is essential to restoring America.

00:18:16.380 And I want to show why women themselves are blessed by patriarchy, why it is such a good

00:18:20.820 thing.

00:20:55.120 marriage of a friend or a marriage of a relative, either way, you're going to recognize these

00:20:59.680 patterns because you've seen them for sure. So if patriarchy stands on say like the far right

00:21:08.380 and as the kind of proper order position, let's just say patriarchy is over here on the right,

00:21:15.840 you're going to encounter essentially three increasingly distorted alternatives.

00:21:20.780 And so one step over towards the left is complementarianism. And then one step over

00:21:26.900 is egalitarianism. And then finally, one step over after that is matriarchy. And so before 1.00

00:21:33.140 we kind of talk about all of these, I think we actually need first a clear definition of patriarchy

00:21:41.980 because without a proper reference point, you can't recognize how the alternative departed

00:21:48.800 from it. You can't see the contrast of what's happening. So let me just talk about patriarchy

00:21:53.740 for a minute. So patriarchy as a doctrine, particularly in marriage, is the belief that

00:21:59.600 the husband is the federal head. He's the representative of the household. Now,

00:22:06.720 scripture presents Christ as the head of the church, which is his bride, and human marriage

00:22:14.320 as basically an earthly picture of a spiritual truth about the gospel, spiritual union. And

00:22:21.380 that matters because headship is not merely about authority. It's also about responsibility.

00:22:28.960 It's also about patterning a spiritual truth into the earthly world. Now, we see the pattern

00:22:38.720 of authority and responsibility in Adam. Okay. We see it first in Adam. So Eve sinned,

00:22:46.300 but God called Adam to account, right? We talked about that already. And again,

00:22:50.540 it's because he was the responsible party. And when they were driven out of the garden,

00:22:55.060 again, we saw that expulsion. Eve's expulsion was bound up in Adam's because again, he was

00:23:00.460 the head of the household and the one ultimately held responsible for the sin of both himself and

00:23:05.800 his wife. Now, if you don't know, in Genesis chapter three, Adam failed by not taking responsibility

00:23:14.080 and he immediately blames his wife, right? For the disorder of his own household, for her going in

00:23:21.060 sin. It's this woman that you gave me, right? But this is very important. So this is a contrast.

00:23:26.340 So we have the first Adam, the fallen Adam, and then we have Christ who is called in scripture,

00:23:30.880 the second Adam. See, but Christ does the opposite of the first Adam. So unlike Adam, Jesus has no

00:23:38.020 sin, yet he takes responsibility for the sins of his bride, the church. And he does that by paying 0.94

00:23:45.500 for them on the cross. And that gives husbands a model. Okay, don't make excuses for the state

00:23:51.760 of your wife, for the state of your home. Take responsibility for the sins of your wife. Now, 0.88

00:23:58.980 again, I'm going to talk about that in a second. It's not that we're guilty for those sins, but

00:24:02.020 we're taking responsibility for them. Now we understand this concept instinctively with

00:24:05.880 parents and children. Okay. When you have terrible children, it's usually a sign of terrible parents.

00:24:12.400 And that is essentially what I mean is negligent parents cannot simply like shrug and say, yeah,

00:24:19.520 that's their problem. They're terrible because they're independent individuals. It's their

00:24:24.420 problem. No. No, the condition of the child reflects, at least in part, the quality of the

00:24:29.820 parenting. And the responsible party for the parenting is the parents. And the same principle

00:24:35.380 applies to wives and household government. So the state of the home, the state of, or the health of 0.96

00:24:42.040 the marriage, the condition of the family under the husband's headship. If your home is a train

00:24:50.620 wreck, that's on the man. He is the responsible party. He's the one that I would expect to lead

00:24:56.880 his family to that place of train wreck. Now, we want men who are leading their families to a place

00:25:04.640 of order and joy and strength. Now, again, that doesn't mean that the husband is morally culpable

00:25:12.620 or guilty for the sins of his wife and children. But patriarchy demands that the man take

00:25:20.420 responsibility for the state of his household, even if those are not his particular sins,

00:25:28.420 because he is the representative party before God. So essentially it rejects the individualist

00:25:33.440 excuse that every man for himself or every woman for himself, like, you know, again, when you get

00:25:38.440 into counseling, you have two people blaming one another and that's wrong. The reality is,

00:25:43.840 is that the woman's going to say, these are my problems. The man's going to say,

00:25:46.860 these are my problems. The reality is the man should be saying, all of them are my problems.

00:25:52.220 All of them are a reflection of my leadership in this household. Now, Job, in the book of Job,

00:26:00.640 actually gives us a really good picture of this when he offers sacrifices on behalf of his grown

00:26:06.280 children. He actually says in Job 1.5, quote, it may be that my children have sinned, end quote.

00:26:12.940 And so he is making sacrifices, taking responsibility for the sake of his household,

00:26:19.500 even his grown children. So if a wife is say like a drunk or chronically bitter or depressed or 0.69

00:26:25.880 rebellious or destructive, the husband cannot simply say, that's her issue. That's her issue.

00:26:32.040 No, again, he's not guilty of her sin, but under patriarchy, he must ask what his headship has

00:26:41.480 done or failed to do to produce such a woman. Okay. Uh, I I've actually seen some videos on

00:26:48.880 Instagram. Like it's women that are like, uh, you know, they're complaining or they're doing 0.98

00:26:56.600 something or they're demanding, you know, these great gifts or whatever it may be. They're kind

00:27:01.380 of flaunting the problem. And the text will say on the screen, you know, my husband's had

00:27:05.760 possession of me for 22 years and they understand patriarchy. The reality is, is that the woman is 0.51

00:27:11.460 a reflection of the head. When you look at the church, she's glorious. She's got white robes

00:27:16.840 of righteousness. She's without spot and without blemish, according to Ephesians 5. And that is 0.90

00:27:21.260 because she is a reflection of Christ, her husband. Her husband is doing a great job

00:27:25.920 sanctifying and beautifying his own bride. And so Christian patriarchy forces men anywhere 0.73

00:27:34.800 to stop the excuses and look toward taking responsibility for the state of their children, 0.52

00:27:42.580 for the state of their household, for the state of their finances, for the state of their wife.

00:27:46.880 Now, another vital point about patriarchy is that it's consistent across all three realms that God

00:27:54.400 has established. So we have the family, we have the church, and we have the state. These are the

00:27:59.060 spheres of sovereignty in the world. And as I've mentioned earlier, patriarchy doesn't assign roles

00:28:05.400 arbitrarily, right? It recognizes that biblical roles are rooted in created nature, okay? We know

00:28:13.140 that a bird was created to fly, not just because it's role to fly, but because it was created

00:28:21.360 to fly. It's got an aerodynamic shape. It has wings. It has hollow bones. Its feathers are light.

00:28:27.980 it tells us something about the purpose and the duty of the bird by looking at its biology.

00:28:34.840 Okay, that's very clear. Now, scripture tells us that women are not to rule the home or in the 1.00

00:28:42.440 church. We know that their biology also communicates that they're smaller, they're the fairer 1.00

00:28:49.120 sex, they are weaker, they're the less strength, they have less aggression, they have less 0.86

00:28:54.380 testosterone. But again, scripture tells us that women are not to rule the home or the church, 1.00

00:29:01.560 and it gives us no explicit or implicit pattern of women ruling in the civil sphere, right? All 0.99

00:29:07.060 the kings, all the scribes, all the apostles, all of the prophets, you know, all of the patriarch, 0.99

00:29:12.560 everything is male, okay? And I know, Deborah, what about Deborah? We'll talk about that later, 0.97

00:30:59.620 these kinds of inconsistencies in the world. Patriarchy is coherent because it applies the

00:31:08.560 same creational logic across every realm. And that is what makes it biblically consistent,

00:31:15.100 historically intelligible, and philosophically coherent. It's also what makes it just really

00:31:21.500 effective. But again, we are sinners. And sinners love to pervert God's order. And so what happens?

00:31:30.200 Men become passive and lazy and cowardly. And we know that women become rebellious and 0.98

00:31:35.840 domineering and resentful of submission. And out of that swamp comes several distorted 0.99

00:31:43.420 alternatives to patriarchy. And the very counterfeits that I listed earlier are

00:31:49.800 important to understand. And so now that we kind of have this clear reference point

00:31:54.440 to what patriarchy is, I just want to briefly explain each one of these.

00:31:59.240 So the first is complementarianism. And this is like the darling of the modern evangelical world.

00:32:06.060 Complementarianism basically tries to build a halfway house between patriarchy and egalitarianism.

00:32:13.380 And that's what makes it like so deceptive. Like a lot of the language sounds biblical. It sounds

00:32:20.160 conservative, right? Men and women are different. Husbands should be leading. Women are different 1.00

00:32:26.700 and they shouldn't be pastors and wives should submit to men. It says all of those things, 0.98

00:32:32.280 But the system is deceptive. Let me explain. So it arose in the 1980s through men like John Piper,

00:32:39.460 Wayne Grudem, again, there's a lot I like about those guys, but it came under those realms,

00:32:47.060 especially also the organization, the Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. Now, it was

00:32:52.880 ultimately a product of the enormous feminist pressure that was growing in the church in the 1.00

00:32:59.340 1980s and 1990s. Now, in my view, this was the beginning of what I would call clean feminism

00:33:05.120 inside the church. It wasn't ready to kind of like openly embrace egalitarianism or hardcore 0.99

00:33:13.000 feminism. So it softened the old patriarchal framework enough to make egalitarian assumptions

00:33:19.940 easier to absorb in later generations, the ones that we're living in right now. And so rather

00:33:25.660 than emphasizing that men and women differ in both nature and role, or I should say role and

00:33:32.380 nature, complementarianism narrowed the discussion to just roles. I think one of those men said,

00:33:40.580 a woman can do anything a non-ordained man can do. That was kind of the standard. So the result was

00:33:48.560 functional interchangeability, right? It's not that a woman is incapable of preaching, they would 1.00

00:33:54.800 say, or ruling or fighting, it's that she's, it's simply just not her assigned role to do so. 0.73

00:34:01.440 Again, it's like a functional transgenderism. It allows people to kind of, women to go back into 0.89

00:34:05.680 men's roles and women's roles because they're not distinguishing based off of nature and role.

00:34:11.300 They're just saying we're interchangeably physically, but we can just do different

00:34:15.420 things according to scripture's application of that particular role. It's functional transgenderism,

00:34:21.140 Once nature is severed from role, the prohibitions begin to look arbitrary. It's not that you can't

00:34:30.940 do it. It's only that you shouldn't do it. And because scripture doesn't contain a verse that

00:34:38.720 says, a woman shall not be a governor, the complementarians permit female political rulers 1.00

00:34:46.560 without asking whether female nature itself is fitted for that kind of duty, which we know it 0.99

00:34:53.120 is not. So at the same time, the older language of authority and hierarchy and submission was 1.00

00:35:01.260 softened into kind of like the safer language of men and women complimenting one another,

00:35:07.580 be a servant leader. And they kind of perverted what that really meant. And so all these things,

00:35:15.560 again, they might sound harmless, but it's subtly changing the center of gravity. Patriarchy 0.74

00:35:22.320 begins with order and nature and authority and responsibility. Complementarianism begins with 0.97

00:35:30.040 kind of mutuality and harmony and compliment. It just sounds softer. It appeals to women at the

00:35:38.980 core. And so again, it's not egalitarianism yet, but it cracks the door open for it. And that's 0.88

00:35:47.920 which leads us into really the next point, egalitarianism. What is it? Well, this is one

00:35:54.280 that reaches far beyond marriage, okay? It is probably one of the greatest diseases of the

00:36:03.980 modern age because it doesn't just rearrange distinctions. It tries to erase them all together.

00:36:10.240 On one side, egalitarianism is lazy, right? It just doesn't want to wrestle with the real

00:36:16.400 differences of nature or ability or race or inheritance, sex, culture, station, any of these

00:36:24.640 things. So it just flattens everything. It just treats everybody like they're the same. Now on

00:36:29.900 the other side, it's driven by envy, right? It resents any hierarchy, any superiority,

00:36:38.700 you know, like any sort of inferiority, any distinction that might imply inequality. Even

00:36:46.260 if it's like an objective fact, like a child has less authority than a parent, they'll try to

00:36:55.400 create that so there actually is no distinctions between those things. And so it is a grave sin

00:37:01.880 of have any distinctions in the egalitarian framework. And that's why egalitarianism sits

00:37:06.860 behind the modern obsession with, say, DEI. It teaches people to confuse equal human dignity

00:37:14.200 with interchangeability, and it ignores things like competence and giftedness and station.

00:37:20.940 In fact, it despises those things. But equality before God does not mean sameness in creation.

00:37:29.420 Men and women are not the same. Nations are not the same. Races are not the same. Cultures

00:37:36.220 are not the same. History is filled with unequal achievements and unequal callings and unequal

00:37:43.220 responsibilities and unequal stations. It is filled with superiority and inferiority. It's

00:37:49.660 filled with people that are blessed, people that are cursed, people that are rich, people that are

00:37:54.020 poor, people that are sick, people that are healthy. So egalitarianism refuses to acknowledge

00:37:59.060 these distinctions because once distinctions are admitted, hierarchy immediately becomes the most

00:38:05.700 logical model. But God's hierarchy is one of the greatest evils in liberalism. Okay, even Christians

00:38:15.040 can fall into that distortion. And I often see them using Galatians 3.28, which says,

00:38:23.020 and you guys know this text, there is neither Jew nor Greek. There is neither slave nor free.

00:38:28.080 There is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus, end quote. And they read that

00:38:34.440 as though Paul were abolishing every earthly distinction. But that's not what Paul's saying

00:38:42.240 at all. We know this, right? We know this because elsewhere, Paul is recognizing men and women and

00:38:47.980 male and female and husbands and wives and masters and servants, okay, Jews and Gentiles and pastors 0.66

00:38:54.900 and congregants. He's recognizing them all and giving instruction for them. No, his point in

00:39:00.840 Galatians is not that these distinctions cease to exist. They do. In fact, they were so sharp

00:39:06.460 in his generation, that he needed to clarify that those distinctions that really make people so

00:39:12.960 distinct from one another do not inhibit their ability to enter into the kingdom of God.

00:39:19.240 Everybody enters into the kingdom of God one way. It's not by blood. It's not by skin color.

00:39:23.860 It is by faith in Christ alone. So in marriage, egalitarianism is extremely dangerous.

00:39:34.660 It's like putting two CEOs over the same company with equal authority and no final chain of

00:39:41.600 command. It's idiotic and is evident when the first major disagreement comes. Someone has to 1.00

00:39:51.100 decide. And so without headship or authority, you essentially end up with a negotiation with no end.

00:39:57.840 And the negotiation under pressure becomes resentment and confusion and disorder. And so

00:40:04.680 when a culture teaches that both sexes are to resist that nature and order and roles and marriage,

00:40:11.340 all those things, essentially these fights within couples become a contest of wills instead of an

00:40:19.600 ordered union. And generally speaking, whoever is the most emotional wins. And so ultimately,

00:40:27.840 Um, egalitarianism promises liberation from the evil of hierarchy, but it delivers conflict and

00:40:38.280 confusion instead of peace. It actually takes them into a place that's even more difficult and more

00:40:44.380 wicked and more chaotic. It tells husbands and wives that neither should rule. And then it leaves

00:40:52.060 them to fight over who actually will. It's absolutely foolish. Okay. I can keep going on 0.99

00:40:59.820 forever. So the last one is matriarchy. And this is the polar opposite of patriarchy, right? It is 1.00

00:41:08.080 in a very real sense, functional transgenderism. I know I've used that term a few times today, but

00:41:12.780 role reversal without the biological reality to support it. That's basically what's happening

00:41:19.260 here. It's like calling somebody the woman king, that very stupid movie. The woman king. It's like, 1.00

00:41:24.420 no, no, no. You cannot be a woman king. It's like saying that you're like a mother father 1.00

00:41:29.480 or a woman father. That's so stupid. No, in a matriarchal marriage, both sexes 1.00

00:41:38.220 are pulled toward their characteristic sins at one time. So you get male passivity 1.00

00:41:45.560 and you get female insubordination. You get female rule and male subordination. It's really 0.70

00:41:53.460 gross, okay? The man refuses to lead. The woman steps into command as a result, and the whole

00:42:00.000 household is reordered around confusion. Now, unfortunately, this isn't that rare, okay? I know

00:42:07.220 many people who grew up in matriarchal households. I've watched that same disorder follow them into 1.00

00:42:13.040 their own marriages, it becomes a generational sin. And it's kind of like a tidal wave that's

00:42:18.380 rolling from one house into the next. And it's producing feminism in the women and impotent 1.00

00:42:23.220 patriarchy in the men. And eventually enough disorder in the home produces a disorder in

00:42:30.920 society. And that is very much what we are seeing today. And so that is where matriarchy becomes

00:42:36.640 very political. See, a feminized society that comes from feminized households increasingly 1.00

00:42:45.300 governs through what? Well, their nature as a woman, emotion, safetyism, consensus, grievance, 1.00

00:42:54.720 institutional management of feelings, HR departments, right? Patriarchy builds around 1.00

00:43:00.660 authority and responsibility and agency and order. See, matriarchy expands all of the bureaucracy. 0.98

00:43:07.220 It diffuses responsibility across many people and makes like decisive action, like impossible. 1.00

00:43:15.220 Okay. I'm just going to give you a quick, like, did you know fact? Okay. The Empire State Building,

00:43:20.800 one of the greatest architectural achievements in New York City. And it went from breaking ground

00:43:29.060 to opening its doors in 13 months. 13 months. 102-story building. I think they did something

00:43:38.360 like four floors a week they built. Okay, today, in many places, it can take 13 months or longer

00:43:48.720 just to build a house, to take it through the permitting and the review and the approvals

00:43:55.100 process and the inspections and the administrative requirements. And you have to have this meeting,

00:43:58.900 and you have to get a conditional use permit, and it's just on and on. And this is what matriarchy 1.00

00:44:04.040 looks like when it's scaled up from beyond the home and actually into society. It's endless 1.00

00:44:11.360 consultation, endless safeguards, endless permission, endless supply of no command.

00:44:19.460 It's just conversations and checking with people, and how are they feeling? What do you think? And

00:44:24.500 let's put a process and be safe about this. So matriarchy does not just distort marriages. 1.00

00:44:31.220 It takes the confusion of the disordered household and it institutionalizes it across 1.00

00:44:36.880 civilization. And it's what I would call the female tyranny, right? Or gyno-fascism. And so 1.00

00:44:43.680 this is very important that at the very least, patriarchy essentially is the antidote to

00:44:52.060 matriarchy, right? So matriarchy destroys households. It destroys civilizations. And so 1.00

00:44:58.460 at the very least, patriarchy is the antidote to that very destructive force. But patriarchy,

00:45:03.720 as we kind of learned earlier, is a great and glorious thing. And so I want us to talk about

00:45:09.100 the women. Why should you want patriarchy? Well, patriarchy, again, rightly ordered, 1.00

00:45:17.800 Christian patriarchy, allows women to live inside the design that God gave for them 0.99

00:45:25.120 rather than constantly fighting against it. It gives them a man who bears responsibility, 0.94

00:45:34.380 absorbs danger, provides structure, protects the household, and it frees them to cultivate the 0.96

00:45:42.600 life of the home, it frees them to be feminine. I often say that patriarchy allows women to be, 1.00

00:45:49.700 it allows them to experience the freedom of femininity, right? Civilization builds walls 1.00

00:45:57.300 and armies and laws and economies so that homes, households, female domains can exist 1.00

00:46:06.380 in peace. And women are uniquely positioned to turn that peace into life and hospitality and 1.00

00:46:14.320 children and memories and beauty and love. I want you to think about this again. The reason we have

00:46:20.080 armies and laws and economies is to make sure that the household exists. That's how important 1.00

00:46:28.260 it is. The army is out there protecting the household because the household is so important.

00:46:33.240 Therefore, we should not take the person who is perfectly designed by God to make a glorious

00:46:38.520 household and put her into the public sphere or to the military or to some other place where she

00:46:45.040 is not exercising the role that God designed her for. So to tell women that like spreadsheet work 1.00

00:46:52.540 or corporate status or bureaucratic advancement is inherently more meaningful than raising 0.90

00:46:59.400 honorable Christian children and glorious households. Like when they say that that's

00:47:06.460 liberation, it's just a lie. And I think many women are coming to this realization.

00:47:12.300 They've realizing the lie of feminism. You do not hate it enough. Like if you think you hate it 1.00

00:47:18.300 enough, you need to hate it a hundred times more than you actually hate it. Okay. Women should not

00:47:23.760 fear patriarchy. They should fear feminism. You don't want a weak man. You don't want a passive

00:47:31.020 man. You don't want a man that's hitting you. You don't want a man that is selfish. But men who

00:47:36.420 take responsibility, men who provide and give vision and protect and lead, and they're kind of

00:47:42.440 like the chief repenter in the household. They sacrifice. They're willing to take their families

00:47:46.640 to church and to answer to God. These are good and glorious and godly men. And again, you're not

00:47:50.960 going to find this man acting like this, probably at the age of 19, unless he was raised in a godly

00:47:57.700 household and praise God for that. But if you find a man that is submitted to Christ and you wait for

00:48:02.620 him to be sanctified over the years, by God's grace, he will get there. Now, a woman under that 0.53

00:48:10.080 kind of glorious headship is not erased. She's celebrated. She's covered. She's cared for.

00:48:19.540 She's magnified.

00:48:21.880 She's not made less important.

00:48:23.960 Again, she's free to be feminine.

00:48:25.620 She's free to be the fruitful vine that God made her to be. 1.00

00:48:31.600 So patriarchy is not the enemy of women. 1.00

00:49:08.680 kitchen, um, cooking and then men in the living room watching TV. Okay. And the caption is 0.99

00:49:14.600 important. This lady says, this isn't just a household scene. It's a mirror. Three women in 1.00

00:49:21.440 the kitchen, three men in the living room, one group serving, another relaxing, and somehow

00:49:26.840 it still feels normal. Now she goes on to rant against this and why it's so terrible.

00:49:32.720 So that's the context of this video. It's very short. I'm going to show it to you and then give

00:49:36.480 you my comments after. Okay. So that's it. Very short little clip. And I hate this kind of framing

00:49:52.740 because it leaves out one very important fact. Those families are eating and they're wearing

00:50:00.220 clothes and they're having that phone in her hand and they're living in that house because the men

00:50:05.280 work. And it's dishonest to have that kind of snapshot. Imagine filming men roofing a house,

00:50:13.360 pouring concrete, or like welding a fence somewhere, or like working a 12-hour shift 0.99

00:50:18.380 while the women are at Target buying decorations, or planning a vacation, or taking a nap in the 0.53

00:50:24.940 middle of the day, and then saying, look at how unfair this is. The men work while the women 0.80

00:50:29.260 relax. Okay. Again, that would be just as dishonest on the opposite side. Okay. A healthy 0.99

00:50:35.780 household is not a competition over who looks busier in a 10 second clip. Okay. Men and women

00:50:44.020 often carry different burdens. Okay. A good woman is raising children and cleaning the house and

00:50:50.880 organizing the home and hosting people over and cooking and managing, you know, homeschooling and 1.00

00:50:56.460 the household realities, okay? And a good man on the other side is providing and he's building and

00:51:01.160 he's fixing and he's protecting and he's carrying the responsibility outside of the home. And so,

00:51:06.680 yes, a lot of the times, because again of our duties, women cook while men watch television.

00:51:13.740 And sometimes women nap when men are laying floor or welding a gate. And that is not some form of

00:51:20.900 injustice. It's a division of labor. And that is how God designed men and women to relate to one

00:51:26.820 another. Okay. I could keep going, but I'm not going to. So the next video clip is of the late

00:51:34.840 Votie Bauckham, who makes a very incredible point that I want to discuss in a minute. Let's just

00:51:39.900 watch and take a look. It's incredibly ironic that cultures impacted by biblical Christianity

00:51:47.400 are the places in the world with the freest, safest, most protected and cherished women on

00:51:56.100 earth. It's also the place where the women complain the most about the patriarchy. We've 1.00

00:52:03.820 got Christians who are now trying to back away from patriarchy, back away from male headship,

00:52:10.380 because we're ashamed.

00:52:12.700 We're ashamed of this.

00:52:15.440 Wives submit to your own husbands as to the Lord. 0.72

00:52:18.820 There's the ultimate battleground. 0.99

00:52:20.540 For the husband is the head of the wife, 0.80

00:52:50.320 Just one is, I loved his point about women in countries with biblical Christianity

00:52:57.460 are the safest and glorious and most free women on earth.

00:53:00.780 The problem is, the other thing that he said is that it's also where people,

00:53:04.220 women complain the most and there's most feminism right now 0.88

00:53:06.760 because they take that freedom and they abuse it. 1.00

00:53:09.140 essentially feminism is sawing off the branch that they sit on. So the only reason they can complain 1.00

00:53:16.720 is because they are in a society of biblical Christianity that allows that kind of freedom

00:53:22.800 without punishment. If you put them into another framework like Sharia law, they're not going to

00:53:27.640 complain, but they're also going to be genuinely oppressed. And so when women come into feminism 1.00

00:53:33.820 and they fight against biblical patriarchy, they fight against these things, they are sawing off 1.00

00:53:37.380 the branch that they are sitting on, and it's a far drop. The second point I appreciated was that

00:53:44.360 if you deny patriarchy as a system for your marriage, you ultimately have to deny that the

00:53:51.340 relationship between Christ and the church is not worthy to mimic or to replicate. See, God gives us

00:53:57.720 Christ and his bride as the model marriage and is meant for us to reflect headship and submission

00:54:04.020 or sacrificial authority and joyful obedience. So to reject that pattern in marriage is not merely

00:54:10.640 to kind of just reject like some old social arrangement from the fifties. That's how they

00:54:15.320 did marriage. No, it's to reject the very pattern that God chose to reveal the relationship between

00:54:19.900 Christ and his church to the world. And so if it is right, which I believe it is right,

00:54:27.200 then you should want to mimic it because it is good it is good and so my hope for this episode

00:54:34.500 is that we would as families individuals you listening to this podcast or watching this video

00:54:40.280 that you would start implementing and practicing biblical patriarchy in your own household again

00:54:44.980 if we can't fix the nation if we don't fix the family because the nation is just a combination

00:54:50.020 or a collection of families and that's the whole purpose of this season right is that we got to get

00:54:55.440 the family straight. If we get the family straight, then society, it's long-term stuff. I get it. It's

00:55:00.520 going to take 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 centuries, you know, away from now, not 30 centuries, but you

00:55:08.180 know what I mean? It's going to take centuries for us to reverse this pattern. We need strong
