00:00:00.000 All right, listen, guys, I get it.
00:00:02.000 Many of you are unable to financially support this ministry
00:00:04.680 because you're spending your cash and your lives
00:00:06.980 on raising young children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
00:00:10.640 Praise God for you and that endeavor.
00:00:13.760 However, algorithms are a thing.
00:00:16.300 Shadow banning, sadly, is a thing.
00:00:18.900 And one major way that you can help to expand the reach
00:00:22.340 and effectiveness of this ministry that doesn't cost you a dime
00:00:25.780 is by spending just a few moments leaving us a five-star review.
00:00:31.220 Also, perhaps even more effective than that, you can share our podcast with a friend.
00:00:36.460 We hope you'll take the time to do so.
00:00:38.380 Thank you so much.
00:00:39.660 God bless.
00:00:40.600 All right, welcome to another Live Monday Q&A with myself, Pastor Joel Webbin.
00:00:45.760 I am the host of Right Response Ministries.
00:00:48.660 Again, for some of you who are new to our channel, just to give you an idea of our weekly
00:00:52.560 schedules. You can stay tuned with all of our new content. Basically, it breaks down like this. We
00:00:58.580 have three primary large pieces of content every single week. We have the sermon on the Lord's Day.
00:01:05.280 You can find that usually sometime Sunday evening on the podcast platforms, and it usually comes out
00:01:11.840 on YouTube sometime Monday morning. We have to go back and edit a little bit of that and make sure
00:01:17.980 that it's ready to go and upload, export on YouTube. That's the Sunday sermon. So you'll
00:01:22.780 find it on the podcast platforms, Spotify, iTunes, whatever you use on Sunday evening.
00:01:28.500 You'll find it on YouTube Monday morning. Then every Monday we have our live Q&A slash
00:01:35.260 evangelical Christianity, cultural, political report that I do every single Monday. That's
00:01:42.160 about an hour long show. And then Tuesdays we have our flagship show. That's an interview that I do
00:01:47.780 with notable guests from all over the map geographically,
00:01:52.580 but usually within Baptist, Presbyterian,
00:01:55.100 but within a Reformed framework for the most part theologically,
00:01:59.340 and that is our show called Theology Applied.
00:02:01.640 Again, that's about an hour as well.
00:02:03.200 So you've got an hour sermon on Sunday,
00:02:05.380 comes out on YouTube Monday morning,
00:02:07.220 then you've got an hour-long Q&A that's live on Mondays at 2 p.m. Central Time.
00:02:13.380 That's going to be on YouTube,
00:02:15.020 and then you're going to find Theology Applied.
00:02:17.020 It's going to air live on YouTube Tuesdays at 2 p.m. Central.
00:02:22.340 So Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, sermon, Q&A, and an interview with our Theology Applied show.
00:02:29.320 Everything else that you find is ultimately going to be clips and smaller bite-sized segments of one of those three things.
00:02:35.860 It's going to be a clip from a sermon.
00:02:37.400 It's going to be a clip from a Monday live video, or it's going to be a clip we call bite-sized theology from our Theology Applied show.
00:02:43.920 So that's what you'll find dropping on YouTube or on the podcast. You'll find that dropping on
00:02:49.840 Wednesdays and Thursdays and Fridays and Saturdays. But if you're looking to catch all of our content
00:02:55.520 without missing a single beat, then just watch the full length episodes. And that's the Sunday
00:03:00.960 sermon, that's the Monday live Q&A, and that's the Tuesday theology applied interview. So that's how
00:03:07.840 you can keep up to date. So that being said, let me give you just real quick, I think it's helpful,
00:03:12.860 but a quick little concordance is what I'm calling it. For those of you who have been following the
00:03:18.060 Asbury revival or awakening, it's gone by different terms. If you've been following
00:03:24.260 this event that's been going on for a little over a week now, here is a concordance that kind of
00:03:30.880 helps maybe shed some light, helps you to interpret some of the terms that are being used. Those who
00:03:35.820 are defenders of this event, this movement, are saying this is a work of God. It's something that
00:03:43.880 God is sovereignly doing, pouring out His Spirit. It has the true marks of a true move of God,
00:03:49.560 of true revival. And so they'll say things like, revival is happening. When you hear them say
00:03:55.740 revival is happening, awakening is happening, an outpouring of God's Spirit is happening,
00:04:01.920 typically what they mean is singing prayers and testimonies are happening 24 7 ongoing
00:04:10.800 but with virtually no preaching from the bible so if you hear revival is happening you can just
00:04:17.260 kind of interpret that as singing prayers and testimonies are happening but with virtually no
00:04:22.620 preaching from the bible i understand i've talked to people who have been there eyewitnesses multiple
00:04:27.300 of them. And they've said there's been a little bit of preaching, right? John 15, abiding in the
00:04:33.640 vine, maybe 15, 20 minutes of a little bit of preaching. And then back to hours and hours and
00:04:41.580 hours of singing, testimonies, prayers, singing, testimony, prayers. Some of the staff people
00:04:49.000 from time to time will get up and maybe facilitate or guide the revival, if you will, by saying
00:04:55.280 something. But again, it's not a sermon. It's not an exposition from the scripture. They'll just,
00:05:00.620 they'll give their own testimony or maybe facilitate, you know, the direction of the
00:05:05.080 revival in a certain way. But for the most part, it is students who are getting up and sharing
00:05:10.840 their testimonies. Some of them, you know, you've seen some of the videos, I'm sure, you know, I
00:05:15.840 feel like God's calling me to go to Brazil. He put that on my heart and he's reawakening that
00:05:20.060 call for Brazil and people start to throw cash at them. I'll be honest, my prayer is that there
00:05:28.060 would be faithful ministries like mine that would maybe be willing to pull that 19-year-old student
00:05:34.660 aside and say, how much money was given to you to go to Brazil as a missionary? Because we will
00:05:41.480 double it if you promise not to go. I think by the grace of God and for the good of his people
00:05:48.680 and for his glory. It would be more beneficial if you did not go because missionaries and revivals
00:05:55.780 for that matter, share the gospel. And there's been virtually no Bible preaching. And sadly,
00:06:02.580 there has been virtually no gospel preaching. All right. I'll get back to that in a moment.
00:06:07.580 Revival is happening, AKA singing prayers and testimonies are happening, but with little to no
00:06:13.220 preaching from the Bible. Here's another thing. Anyone's welcome, right? So yeah, there's been
00:06:18.900 reports that, you know, some of the students are LGBT affirming. You know, we have queer students
00:06:24.540 who are present. I don't know if on Twitter you follow the New Evangelicals. It's, you know,
00:06:30.820 it's worth a follow just to understand what Satan is up to and what, you know, what the devil is
00:06:36.160 doing and the ways that he's trying to hijack biblical, faithful, you know, Christianity and
00:06:41.860 churches. But the New Evangelicals is just a God-hating pagan organization that professes to
00:06:48.900 be followers of Christ. And, you know, they have reported saying, you know, that we've been talking
00:06:55.000 to some of the queer students, you know, there at Asbury who are a part of the revival. And
00:06:59.660 they're saying that they see that, you know, the seeds of this revival are going to do
00:07:04.700 more good than harm. Now, when you break that down, what they mean by that is that
00:07:09.320 that God's going to use this revival to make the school and the church at large more affirming to
00:07:16.460 LGBT people. Okay, so anyone is welcome. What that kind of translates to, unfortunately, is that
00:07:23.720 sinners are welcome, which is biblical and true. Sinners are welcome. Sinners are welcome to my 0.97
00:07:30.040 church. If sinners weren't welcome, I couldn't preach. Not only could I not be a pastor at my
00:07:36.960 church. I couldn't even be a member at my church. My church would have zero people in attendance if
00:07:41.640 sinners weren't welcome. But here's the thing. We've got to take a second for this. People will
00:07:47.040 always misquote that, you know, Jesus is the friend of sinners, right? Is the sick that need
00:07:52.620 a physician, Jesus says to the Pharisees, not those who are well, but the sick who are in need
00:07:58.280 of a physician. That's true. But look in the gospel narratives at the life of Jesus and the 0.74
00:08:04.420 sinners that he was friends with, and look at what the terms were. Jesus is the friend of sinners,
00:08:11.580 but never on their terms. It's always on his terms. So Jesus, yes, he would dine with tax collectors
00:08:19.840 and prostitutes. Jesus would have sinners in his company, but these are sinners that Jesus 0.78
00:08:27.220 Jesus explicitly would say, go and sin no more. And so if these sinners are following Jesus,
00:08:35.680 it's requiring them, they don't get to follow Jesus and keep their sin. It requires them
00:08:41.600 to follow Christ is to turn from sin, right? That's faith and repentance, two sides of the
00:08:47.720 same coin or two pedals on a bicycle, faith and repentance. Faith is turning to Christ.
00:08:54.080 repentance is turning from our sin there is no turning to christ apart from turning from sin
00:09:01.100 and there is no true repentance turning from sin apart from turning to christ and that has to be
00:09:07.560 the biblical christ not just the author of sugar and spice and everything nice but the true biblical
00:09:13.580 jesus the true biblical jesus so this idea of you know anyone is welcome uh yes sinners should be
00:09:21.900 welcome in churches. They should be welcome at revival meetings. Whether or not it's genuine,
00:09:27.820 they should be welcome at a revival meeting. However, these should be repentant sinners.
00:09:33.040 They are coming, they are hearing a gospel presentation, biblical preaching, where sin
00:09:38.940 is addressed. Sin is addressed and sin is biblically defined. Sin is biblically defined.
00:09:46.360 Not what the culture says is sinful, right? It's not that, but it's what the Bible says,
00:09:51.180 what God says is sinful. So sin is preached, hell is preached, heaven is preached, Christ in him
00:09:56.520 crucified for sinners, not just Christ dying on the cross as a moral example of sacrificial love,
00:10:04.760 right? Love has no one greater than this, that a man would lay down his life for his friends.
00:10:09.300 Jesus died as an example of sacrificial love, but that is not merely what he died for. First and
00:10:15.420 foremost, penal substitutionary atonement, Jesus died as the just payment to satisfy the wrath of
00:10:23.540 God toward you and me. Jesus was the propitiation. That's the satiating sacrifice. Jesus is the
00:10:34.580 satisfying sacrifice that quenches, it fulfills and satisfies the white hot wrath of God toward
00:10:43.880 sinners. And it's not just God's wrath towards sin. Brothers and sisters, please listen.
00:10:49.780 The gospel is not just that God is angry at sin. Lust, an ethereal general spirit of lust,
00:10:59.080 will not be punished for eternity in hell. Perverts will. The ethereal spirit of murder
00:11:07.160 will not be punished for eternity in hell. Murderers will. Theft will not be punished
00:11:14.520 in hell. Thieves will. The Bible is clear that God has just, righteous anger, not just towards
00:11:25.420 sin, but toward the wicked. Not just wickedness, but the wicked. People, people, apart from
00:11:34.740 adoption by God, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the work of Jesus Christ, by grace alone,
00:11:42.540 through faith alone, in Christ alone, apart from the spirit of adoption, God is not your father.
00:11:50.740 Apart from adoption, God is not your father. In fact, Ephesians chapter 2 says that we all were
00:11:57.800 once children of God's wrath. Not just sin as the object of God's wrath, but children of wrath.
00:12:07.780 People are the objects of God's wrath. And Jesus is put forward, not just as an example of
00:12:15.880 sacrificial love, but he is put forward as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
00:12:22.340 He is put forward as a substitute.
00:12:25.760 He dies in my place.
00:12:28.460 He dies in your place.
00:12:31.340 Jesus drinks the full cup of the white hot wrath of God every single drop so that for
00:12:38.440 those who are in Christ by grace through faith alone, when the cup of God's wrath hangs over
00:12:45.220 your head, there's not one drop left to fall upon you.
00:12:50.400 Why?
00:12:50.880 because god gets over it because god sweeps righteousness and retribution under the rug
00:12:58.060 no because god is just but jesus bore your punishment for you is that being preached
00:13:07.340 at asbury multiple sources multiple conversations of eyewitnesses on the scene people who have
00:13:17.500 been there for hours, some who have been there for days. John Harris, who's a friend of mine,
00:13:23.120 he just interviewed a couple guys who are local in the area as pastors. So they have a vested
00:13:29.000 interest. And I would argue we all have a vested interest in something that is becoming a global
00:13:35.980 phenomenon and is being used by people to interpret what a genuine work of God looks like.
00:13:42.320 every christian has the right to speak into this because it has an effect on every christian i'm a
00:13:49.160 pastor i had i pastor a flock a local flock of god you might say well then just be concerned
00:13:54.740 about your people yeah well what what the entire evangelical internet is saying about doctrine and
00:14:02.980 theology and god and his character and his nature and sin and the gospel and revival what the entire
00:14:10.560 evangelical internet is saying and defining as biblical terms is pertinent and relevant to the
00:14:18.720 flock that I pastor, even though it's not even in the same state. But certainly these individuals
00:14:25.360 that John Harris recently interviewed on his show, Conversations That Matter, they're right
00:14:30.160 there in the area. And so they went to the revivals firsthand, eye and ear witnesses,
00:14:34.880 seeing what's happening. They were there for hours. Other individuals have been there for
00:14:38.480 days and there has been report after report after report that the gospel proclamation that I just
00:14:44.720 gave that Jesus died not merely as an example of sacrificial love but as a substitute who takes
00:14:51.740 upon his shoulders our sin double imputation our sin imputed to Christ that is our sin he who knew
00:15:00.300 no sin became sin he became a curse on our behalf so that we might inherit the righteousness of God
00:15:07.760 Jesus who knew no sin he took upon himself our sin that's imputation our sin is imputed that's
00:15:16.220 accredited transferred to Jesus's account and then Jesus on the cross he endures the fullness
00:15:24.720 of God's just fair and righteous wrath towards our sin and he pours out that judgment that wrath
00:15:34.460 that punishment on jesus and jesus righteousness he didn't just have mere innocence jesus did not
00:15:43.020 merely avoid sin and maintain innocence but the bible says that he fulfilled all righteousness
00:15:50.460 it's not just an absence of sin but a presence of perfect righteous obedience jesus loved the lord
00:15:59.000 his god fulfilling the first and greatest commandment with all his heart all his soul
00:16:03.780 all his mind all his strength every second of every minute of every hour of every day
00:16:08.780 for all of his life he fulfilled all righteousness and Jesus perfectly loved his neighbor as him
00:16:16.300 himself even when he's fashioning a whip braided with cords to drive out the money changers and
00:16:22.920 throwing over tables Jesus is demonstrating for us what it is to love your neighbor as yourself
00:16:29.460 because love is never divorced from the truth and sometimes tough love is love so jesus perfectly
00:16:38.180 loves the lord his god he perfectly loves his heavenly father he perfectly loves his neighbor
00:16:42.900 as his self at every moment of every day of his entire life he fulfills all righteousness that's
00:16:50.260 why he you know the way he answers john the baptist well i should be baptized by you jesus
00:16:54.380 why are you coming to me to baptize you so that all righteousness might be fulfilled so jesus
00:17:00.760 he accrues righteousness by his life and through faith by grace his righteousness is imputed to us
00:17:08.540 it's accredited to our account abraham believed god and it was accredited to him as righteousness
00:17:16.460 Faith lays hold of the righteousness of Christ.
00:17:22.300 So his righteousness that he accrued by his life and perfect obedience transferred to us.
00:17:28.820 And our sin that we've accrued by our rebellion and disobedience has been accredited to Christ.
00:17:36.540 He died the death we should have died so that we might live the eternal life and reward that he rightly earned.
00:17:46.460 That's the gospel.
00:17:49.200 That's the great exchange, double imputation,
00:17:53.380 penal substitutionary atonement.
00:17:55.960 And then sin has to be defined according to the law of God.
00:17:59.920 According to the law of God, we must define sin.
00:18:03.860 What does it mean to steal, for instance?
00:18:06.680 This is a revival that's been going on for over a week, 24 hours a day.
00:18:10.700 There's been plenty of opportunity to preach
00:18:13.300 and to preach multiple sermons and to define the law of God.
00:18:16.580 So what is sin?
00:18:19.220 What is theft, for instance?
00:18:21.380 Well, to steal is to take something from your neighbor
00:18:24.940 that he has ownership over,
00:18:27.080 that is his, rightfully his,
00:18:29.920 to take that for yourself, right?
00:18:32.040 You can steal by climbing into your neighbor's window
00:18:35.300 in the middle of the night while he's asleep
00:18:37.400 and taking his belongings.
00:18:38.840 you can also commit theft and steal by voting for socialists. That is civil theft. And the majority
00:18:47.680 of 50% plus one deciding that something's okay doesn't make it righteous. So that's theft,
00:18:56.080 adultery. What is adultery? What does it mean to be unfaithful in marriage? Define marriage.
00:19:03.560 Is marriage between one man and one woman? 0.60
00:19:06.500 Or is it between two men? 0.98
00:19:08.160 Is it between two women?
00:19:09.740 Is it three individuals involved?
00:19:12.240 These things have to be defined.
00:19:13.920 So what is sin?
00:19:15.220 Who is God?
00:19:16.180 Start there.
00:19:16.700 Who is God?
00:19:17.460 Who is man?
00:19:18.160 Why are we estranged in our relationship from God?
00:19:21.620 What is sin?
00:19:22.400 How does the Bible define sin?
00:19:24.820 What is grace?
00:19:26.140 What is faith?
00:19:27.260 Who is Christ?
00:19:28.280 Tell me about his life, his death, his resurrection, his glorious ascension.
00:19:33.700 Is he ruling?
00:19:34.560 Is he reigning?
00:19:36.160 What does that mean?
00:19:38.020 From what I've heard again and again, again, from eyewitness first testimony accounts,
00:19:43.720 I've heard that there is not preaching from the Bible.
00:19:48.360 There is not serious preaching from the Bible.
00:19:50.940 and i've gotten some of the pushback some of the counters from you guys on youtube or twitter and
00:19:58.680 some of the comments and people say um well i was there and there is preaching from the bible
00:20:03.720 and then i'll ask individuals even in private messages could you define that what what is
00:20:08.680 preaching from the bible or people say there is preaching of the gospel uh you know as a staff
00:20:14.340 member got up and said um that you know one of the faculty got up and and was weeping and crying
00:20:19.600 and visibly shaking and said that you guys you have no idea how much Jesus loves you you just
00:20:24.860 don't know you just don't know the the love of God the depths and heights the the width the length
00:20:30.680 how much God loves you Jesus loves you and he has an incredible plan for your life I've heard people
00:20:37.540 say that the gospel is being preached pastor Joel people are saying with fear and trembling that
00:20:43.740 that Jesus loves them and has a wonderful plan for their life if that's the gospel brothers and
00:20:49.420 sisters then you and I are damned and we're all going to hell Jesus loves you and has a wonderful 0.99
00:20:57.400 plan for your life is not the gospel it's not the gospel the gospel is that you are vile and wretch
00:21:06.660 and that you have committed cosmic treason against the creator of the universe that God
00:21:12.900 established a covenant of works with image-bearing creatures that he made and that he bestowed his
00:21:20.680 loving benevolence and provision and protection upon. He established a covenant with us and we
00:21:28.400 broke it. And we, therefore, have rightly earned exactly what God said would happen for covenant
00:21:36.220 breakers, which is that you shall surely die. Jesus died in our place. He took that death. 0.95
00:21:46.400 We get life, new life and eternal life by grace. It is the gift of God so that no man may boast.
00:21:55.060 It's not our doing. It's not what we deserve. And we receive that gift of God, that grace
00:22:01.120 through faith by believing in Jesus and not your own Jesus. It's not like going to the mall back
00:22:10.260 in the day. I remember the stores that build the bear, right? That was a popular thing. You could
00:22:14.680 go in these little stores in the mall and it was called build a bear. And you go in and they give
00:22:18.500 you a teddy bear and you get to design it the way you want, right? You get to embroider certain
00:22:22.140 things on it, pick out a shirt for your teddy bear. What kind of eyes are you going to have?
00:22:25.740 What kind of nose are you going to have? What color are you going to have? What designs this
00:22:28.860 and that. You don't get to build a Jesus. There is one Jesus. When you build your own Jesus, 0.85
00:22:37.180 the problem about having your own version of Jesus is that there's only one Jesus who can
00:22:42.300 actually save. Hippie tree-hugging Jesus cannot save you. Socialist Jesus can't save you. 0.75
00:22:50.620 gay affirming jesus can't save you because he's not real only the biblical jesus can save you and 0.89
00:23:00.420 i have heard again and again from testimony after testimony that this jesus is not being preached 0.83
00:23:06.240 whenever there is preaching it's few and far between right real quick let me also say this
00:23:11.640 your testimony and the gospel are not the same a testimony and the gospel is not synonymous
00:23:19.600 a testimony is what jesus has done for you and that's if it's a true testimony and even that
00:23:26.820 i think we have great reason to be suspicious and ask questions but let's just assume for a moment
00:23:33.960 giving the most benefit of the doubt that the testimonies are in fact true testimonies
00:23:38.400 even that is not the gospel a testimony is the declaration of what christ has done for you
00:23:45.280 The gospel is not about your life and what it looks like after the work of Jesus has been applied.
00:23:53.120 No, the gospel is not about your life.
00:23:55.820 The gospel is about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
00:24:01.240 It's his life, his death, his resurrection.
00:24:05.100 So Jesus loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life is not the gospel.
00:24:09.220 and your testimony if you're a student at asbury your testimony is not the gospel and i say that
00:24:16.800 because i'm getting reports on both sides i'm hearing some people you know staunch defenders
00:24:21.800 of the asbury revival and they're saying things like well well there's been salvations this is a
00:24:27.900 genuine revival because it bears the marks of revival and i'll say well one of the marks of
00:24:31.880 revival is mass conversions and salvations there are salvations and then i've heard descriptions
00:24:37.980 of what these salvations look like.
00:24:40.640 And what it looks like is somebody standing up
00:24:43.900 and saying, Jesus loves you,
00:24:46.300 has a wonderful plan for your life.
00:24:48.400 He wants to make you whole.
00:24:49.960 He wants to wash you clean,
00:24:51.680 but not talking about what you need to be washed clean of.
00:24:55.540 What is sin?
00:24:56.420 What is filth?
00:24:57.500 What is grime?
00:24:58.620 Not talking about repentance.
00:25:00.100 Just saying, Jesus wants to make you whole.
00:25:02.660 Jesus wants to fulfill you, satisfy you.
00:25:05.940 Some of you, you're broken, right?
00:25:07.820 When brokenness becomes the word instead of sin, when wholeness becomes the word instead
00:25:13.240 of righteousness and forgiveness for sin, these kinds of things, it's this subtle hijacking
00:25:20.860 when your testimony becomes the substitute for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
00:25:27.700 So people will stand up and say, who wants to be made whole?
00:25:30.160 Who wants to be cleansed?
00:25:31.280 God has a plan for this generation.
00:25:33.160 He hasn't forgotten you.
00:25:34.220 He hasn't forsaken you.
00:25:35.340 he's going to use this generation is going to be used mightily of the lord and if you want to be
00:25:39.660 used by god if you want to be made whole if you want to be uh reconciled to god and welcomed in
00:25:45.220 then i want you to stand and i've heard this again from eyewitness and ear witness accounts people
00:25:52.000 who are physically there that this is being said and then people stand and then it'll be repeated
00:25:58.300 it'll say hey some of you you need to you need to join them in standing look at the courage of your
00:26:03.580 friends who stood up you need to stand with them they'll stand with them and then say let's give a
00:26:08.940 shout a shout of joy to the lord there's more rejoicing in heaven over one lost sinner who
00:26:14.540 comes to salvation who repents is what the bible says who comes to repentance and look at all these
00:26:19.980 people it's far more than one look at all these people standing right now let's rejoice at this
00:26:24.420 salvation. What salvation? Romans 1 16, for I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of
00:26:34.460 God for salvation to all who believe, first to the Jew, then also to the Greek. The gospel is the
00:26:43.320 power of God for salvation. Where the gospel is not preached, there is no salvation. No gospel,
00:26:49.680 no salvation. God saves people through the gospel. Romans 1 16. The gospel is the power of God for
00:26:59.660 salvation. Romans 10 14. How will they believe unless they hear? And how will they hear unless
00:27:07.960 someone preaches? Again, by way of implication, the necessary inference going back to Romans 1 16
00:27:15.720 preaches what the gospel so how will they believe unless they hear how will they hear unless someone
00:27:20.780 preaches the gospel and how will they preach unless they are sent for it is written blessed
00:27:25.420 are the feet of those who bring good news jesus loves you and has a plan for your life is not the
00:27:31.940 gospel a student's testimony is not the gospel a desire to go to brazil is not the gospel a desire
00:27:39.680 to go to brazil as a missionary to preach the gospel is not the gospel you can say all those
00:27:44.840 I want to go to Brazil to preach the gospel without actually preaching the gospel right there
00:27:49.900 at Asbury. So without gospel, there can be no salvation. So revival is happening. Singing is
00:27:58.240 happening. Prayers are happening. Testimonies are happening, but there is virtually no preaching
00:28:04.720 from the Bible and almost definitively no true gospel preaching with a biblical definition of
00:28:13.780 God, biblical definition of man, biblical definition of sin, biblical definition of grace,
00:28:20.720 biblical definition of faith, and a biblical description of the life, death, resurrection,
00:28:28.260 and ascension of Christ. Anyone is welcome. Well, sinners are welcome to Christ. He welcomes sinners,
00:28:35.840 but he welcomes sinners on his terms. And there is a condition. The condition is to repent.
00:28:42.480 I appreciate very much what the late great R.C. Sproul once said he said people are always talking
00:28:48.220 about the unconditional love of God God's love is so unconditional he has no conditions
00:28:53.520 oh that you might receive the unconditional love of God. Sproul said God's love is not
00:29:01.200 unconditional if it's unconditional then why does he set the condition that you repent
00:29:08.280 there is a condition to receiving the saving salvific fatherly love of god if you want the
00:29:18.500 fatherly love of god then he has to adopt you as his son he has to become your father and for that
00:29:28.020 to happen there must be repentance and faith turning from sin repentance turning to christ
00:29:35.780 faith there is a condition now as a calvinist for the record because some of you might be saying
00:29:42.540 well i thought you were reformed i thought it's all grace uh-huh yeah god sets conditions for
00:29:47.480 salvation for his fatherly salvific love god sets conditions for salvation and god in his mercy
00:29:56.100 meets those conditions but they must be met god meets the condition of repentance by granting
00:30:03.120 repentance as a gift, not a work for man to conjure up, but a gift given by God. He meets
00:30:10.460 the condition of faith by granting faith as a gift. And God gives these two gifts of faith and
00:30:16.840 repentance to hearts that he has regenerated by the work and power of the Holy Spirit. He causes
00:30:23.440 our hearts to come alive, gives us new hearts. That's Ezekiel 36, removes the heart of stone,
00:30:29.340 replaces it with a heart of flesh he puts his law within us and causes us to walk in his statutes
00:30:36.280 god does it all god does it all but there are conditions god meets those conditions but there
00:30:42.540 are conditions and where those conditions are not met and god has not met those conditions by his
00:30:49.280 grace in his grace he has not granted repentance in his grace for whatever reason he has not granted
00:30:55.260 faith and therefore that person is not an adopted an adopted child of God and we should not say
00:31:03.880 that that person is a recipient therefore of God's saving love salvific love fatherly love
00:31:10.080 that person has a father but it's not God John chapter 8 Jesus plainly says that if
00:31:17.140 you don't have God as your father then you're a chip off the old block you look just like your
00:31:23.860 true father the devil jesus tells the pharisees the scribes your father is the devil you look 0.93
00:31:31.020 just like him you're doing what your father does his typical mo he was a murderer from the beginning 0.88
00:31:37.860 and here you are trying to murder me you look just like the devil because the devil is your daddy 0.86
00:31:44.240 children always bear a stark resemblance to their fathers and so too spiritually speaking those who
00:31:53.060 are not in christ bear a resemblance to their spiritual father the devil we are not all born
00:31:59.180 into this world as children of god we become children of god through adoption by grace through
00:32:06.080 faith in christ so revival is happening prayers are being prayed songs are being sung testimonies
00:32:14.000 are being shared but very little virtually no bible preaching or particularly gospel biblical
00:32:21.640 gospel preaching anyone is welcome well sinners are welcome but welcome on jesus terms that's
00:32:29.640 not being clearly defined queer students here's another one queer students are being impacted by
00:32:35.560 god's presence well from what i hear queer students are not just attending and being
00:32:41.860 impacted by god's presence but there are pictures of queer students leading worship from the stage
00:32:48.000 publicly identifying queer students at the school leading worship from the stage 0.86
00:32:57.660 lastly students are confessing their sins again my question would be define sin define confession
00:33:08.080 i've heard some confession of sin i've seen some videos of that happening but in the videos that
00:33:15.880 i've seen of confession of sin the sin that's being confessed is the sin of cultural appropriation
00:33:22.800 whiteness white fragility systematic racism i've seen these sins confessed
00:33:32.120 but i'm not convinced that that's a conviction coming from the holy spirit and a work of god so
00:33:40.860 So, I was actually, believe it or not, I was actually more gentle than this, more charitable
00:33:48.880 than this, more cautious than this last week when I talked about the Asbury Revival.
00:33:54.880 But it's been a week.
00:33:56.380 We've seen more evidence.
00:33:57.680 Lots of people, including myself, initially said, let's see what happens.
00:34:01.720 Let's wait.
00:34:02.940 Let's observe.
00:34:05.320 Well, I think we can still wait and still observe.
00:34:08.720 but I don't think that we have to wait for years to be able to say these things are not in line
00:34:14.760 with scripture because we have waited long enough to have tangible evidence to be able to say this
00:34:22.600 doesn't align with what the Bible teaches. This doesn't align with what God's word says. And I
00:34:30.080 understand that this is a hot button issue. It's controversial. People are very opinionated on both
00:34:35.400 sides including myself we all have a presupposition my presupposition is a biblical gospel people
00:34:46.140 don't get saved apart from hearing with faith and hearing with faith requires preaching of the
00:34:52.340 gospel the biblical gospel and i have yet to see tangible evidence of faithful biblical gospel
00:35:00.160 preaching in this revival at all. And even if I got that, here would be my counter. I'll tell you
00:35:07.220 right now, even if I heard a faithful proclamation of the biblical gospel, my question would be,
00:35:13.160 why is that 15 minutes out of two weeks, 24-7? I mean, if we were to put a percentage on that
00:35:25.380 and say here's everything happening in Asbury revival make a little make a little pie chart
00:35:30.840 it would be a sliver of time dedicated to faithful biblical gospel preaching so small it would be
00:35:38.300 undetectable to the human eye and all the rest would be testimonies shaking jumping singing
00:35:47.780 praying
00:35:49.300 even that
00:35:51.500 praying how
00:35:52.860 praying what
00:35:54.560 the guardrails
00:35:57.660 for any work
00:35:58.960 any true genuine work of the Holy Spirit 0.99
00:36:01.540 is the Bible 1.00
00:36:03.100 preached 0.99
00:36:04.040 the Bible preached
00:36:05.800 in every historic revival that we have seen
00:36:09.120 it has been marked by
00:36:11.020 preaching
00:36:11.880 not just laughing
00:36:14.640 shaking, smiling
00:36:17.100 sharing singing but preaching preaching and preaching the word of god now some of you may
00:36:26.800 see um and even today i believe uh hashtag jesus is coming soon has been trending jesus is coming
00:36:37.080 soon most of you if you follow the channel you know what i think about that no man knows the
00:36:43.860 day or the hour, people have been saying Jesus is coming soon for approximately 2,000 years.
00:36:50.240 Did you know that just about every generation of Christians, just about every generation of
00:36:56.800 Christians thought that Jesus was going to return in their lifetime? Which means thus far,
00:37:02.360 every generation of Christians, at least in that regard, in that assessment, has been wrong.
00:37:08.360 every single one of them now whether or not Jesus is coming back on Thursday or not
00:37:15.560 here's the better question this is what I would love to see trending not Jesus is coming soon
00:37:21.780 but if Jesus is coming soon or if Jesus chooses to tarry in either regard how do we prepare for
00:37:30.360 Jesus coming and I guess what I'm putting together here is I don't think it's a coincidence that you
00:37:37.460 have Jesus is coming soon and a lot of talk right now and notably the week leading up to the
00:37:45.720 beginning of the Asbury revival there was a lot of talk about the signs that Christ is coming
00:37:51.180 and then you have this revival I think that there's a correlation there I don't think it's
00:37:57.000 a coincidence I think that for the average evangelical Christian and this is virtually
00:38:04.000 universal across denominational lines for the average whether you're reformed or arminian
00:38:08.740 whatever it is continuationist cessationist the average evangelical christian today i think
00:38:14.280 has this dispensational pre-mill sense that jesus is going to return rather quickly
00:38:20.800 in that vein i think they also just subconsciously assume that everything in the culture and politics
00:38:27.200 is destined by God to get worse and worse
00:38:30.460 until Christ comes.
00:38:32.380 And that shapes your thinking,
00:38:35.320 your assumptions of what we should do
00:38:37.660 to prepare for the coming of Christ.
00:38:40.320 See, if you can't really make a difference in the world,
00:38:44.000 then how do you prepare for the coming of Jesus?
00:38:47.540 Well, a revival.
00:38:50.100 Let's just get together.
00:38:51.060 Let's just pray, sing, share testimonies.
00:38:54.320 right let's just let's just kind of splash around and the holy spirit you know
00:39:00.400 kiddie pool together and just enjoy the presence of god right or it may even be well no we we want
00:39:07.800 people to get saved well you know i mean if jesus is coming back soon right then we we want to see
00:39:15.240 as many souls plucked from the fire as possible before he returns before it's too late and that
00:39:21.080 is good that that would be true that is biblically correct but here's my point
00:39:27.400 jesus is coming soon as very revival i think there's a correlation between the two not a
00:39:35.440 coincidence even from a dispensational pre-mill presupposition understanding of the return of
00:39:43.840 christ and what all that entails and a certain reading of the book of revelation and matthew 24
00:39:49.020 and the book of Daniel and all these different things,
00:39:51.720 even assuming those things,
00:39:54.500 why not preach the gospel?
00:39:57.720 If Jesus is coming soon,
00:40:01.220 preach the gospel. 0.98
00:40:04.000 Preach the biblical gospel.
00:40:06.840 And if Jesus is coming soon,
00:40:08.820 then we don't have time for platitudes,
00:40:14.140 generalities, ambiguity.
00:40:16.460 If Jesus is coming soon, then we need more clear gospel preaching than ever before.
00:40:27.240 And that is not what we are seeing as of now.
00:40:31.840 Can I be frank with you for just a second right here at the end?
00:40:35.220 Look, some of you guys, you're financially supporting this ministry.
00:40:38.560 And from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you.
00:40:41.640 I cannot thank you enough.
00:40:43.920 However, some of you, you just, you can't afford it. In fact, some of you, you shouldn't afford it.
00:40:51.080 Let's be honest. I mean, we're living in Joe Biden's ridiculous economy. Our nation and our
00:40:57.880 totalitarian political elites lost their minds over the last three years due to COVID. We have
00:41:06.260 written checks that we simply cannot cash. It doesn't matter if people change the definition
00:41:12.140 of a recession. We are living in a recession right now, regardless. Some of you are struggling
00:41:19.100 to afford a carton of eggs at the grocery store. You cannot support financially this ministry at
00:41:26.120 this time, nor should you, but you could still help us tremendously. I am asking you, please,
00:41:33.520 if you're willing to do so, take one minute of your time. Leave us a five-star review on your
00:41:39.760 favorite podcast platform, iTunes, Spotify, whatever that might be, this is the way the
00:41:45.860 system works. We want to be innocent as doves, but shrewd as vipers. We need to be strategic.
00:41:52.920 You leave us a five-star review, and our podcast shows up for more people. And the Word of God
00:41:58.960 and courageous theology applied in practical ways to every realm of life gets out there.
00:42:06.760 Help us get it out there. Thanks for tuning in.
00:42:09.760 You
