00:00:23.140Israel today is not Israel under the Old Covenant.
00:00:26.100There's a dynamic difference between the two.
00:00:28.200So I'm going to talk about Old Covenant Israel and talk about what I mean and what others like me in our camp mean when we say that nations should kiss the sun today, pay homage to King Jesus, that they should be Christian today.
00:00:41.620So we're going to get into that. We're going to use a host of different texts.
00:00:44.340We're going to be looking at Joshua chapter 10, verses 29 through 43.
00:00:49.260I'm preaching through the book of Joshua right now at the church where I pastor.
00:00:53.120that's Covenant Bible Church in Central Texas. We're in Georgetown, Texas, about 45 minutes
00:00:58.040north of Austin. If you're looking for a church and you're somewhere in the Central Texas area,
00:01:02.080come check us out. Go to covenantbible.org, covenantbible.org. So we're going to use the
00:01:08.320text from Joshua. That's Joshua chapter 10, verses 29 through 43. But then we're also going to be
00:01:14.340cross-referencing over to Jeremiah chapter 18, verses 6 through 11. We'll also look at Psalm 19,
00:01:21.520verses 1 through 4. We're also going to be looking at the book of Job. It's going to be chapter 12
00:01:28.500verses 7 through 10. Briefly, look at Romans chapter 1 verse 18 through 20. We might get into
00:01:35.500Leviticus chapter 18 verses 21 through 26. We might get into Genesis chapter 15 verses 13 through 16.
00:01:43.580And I'll use a quote or two from the late great Puritan Matthew Henry. All of this to make a,
00:01:48.920what I believe is an airtight argument for Christian nationalism being the biblical
00:01:53.940position that Christians today should take, New Testament Christians, that we should have
00:01:59.220Christian nations and we should be for Christian nationalism, but also again distinguishing New
00:02:04.760Testament nations today, New Testament Christian nationalism from Zionism. Zionism is not biblical
00:02:12.000and I will do my best to lovingly and charitably, but also courageously dismantle it because
00:02:18.580it is a false doctrine that harms many, many people to this day. So before going ahead and
00:02:26.540diving into the topic, and again, we'll start with Joshua chapter 10. Before we dive in,
00:02:31.460let me just give you a reminder this Thursday at 1159 p.m. So the close of the day,
00:02:38.360August 31st, it's the last day of this month. It's Thursday this week. Our early bird rate
00:02:44.240is over. It's over. Now, I know I've had a lot of you guys reach out and say, hey, I'm planning on
00:02:49.220coming to the conference. I haven't registered yet. I'm figuring out travel or I'm figuring
00:02:53.560out things with my work or scheduling with my family. We'll figure it out. That's great. I get
00:02:58.240it, but figure it out quickly because at the end of the day, this Thursday, August 31st, 1159 p.m.,
00:03:06.180the early bird rate is done. You're going to want to register for our conference. Again,
00:03:10.680this is Blueprints for Christendom 2.0. We've got Douglas Wilson, Brian Sauve, Joe Boot, Eric
00:03:17.400Kahn, and myself. We're going to be having a couple panels, one on biblical patriarchy with
00:03:22.400Eric Kahn and Douglas Wilson and myself, then another panel that's going to be talking about
00:03:26.600all things unhinged, the Nephilim and Watchers and all these different things with Brian Sauve
00:03:31.840and Ben Garrett from Haunted Cosmos and myself. And so it's going to be a great time. It's a
00:03:37.040Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of 2024. That's Friday through Sunday.
00:03:44.040Go to RightResponseConference.com to register. Again, not Right Response Ministries, but go to
00:03:51.060RightResponseConference.com. Get the early bird rate. Get it right now. It will be over at the
00:03:58.500very beginning of the day on Friday, the new month, September 1st, right? So you've got through the
00:04:05.280end of the day on Thursday, come the beginning of the day on Friday, it's done. Don't miss out.
00:04:10.660Go to rightresponseconference.com. One more brief announcement, and then we'll go ahead and hop in.
00:04:16.880There's another conference that some of you may have heard about, and some of you may not have,
00:04:20.680but if you're in the Central Texas area, I would love to meet you. I'll be speaking this Saturday,
00:04:27.680actually, so it's September 2nd, this Saturday, at the Forge Conference. The theme of this year's
00:04:34.220Forge Conference is The Joy of the Lord. It's in Kerrville, Texas. Kerrville, Texas, which I
00:04:40.300believe, I'm not great at geography, but I think it's somewhere near Fredericksburg, if you're
00:04:44.860familiar with Fredericksburg, Texas. And there's multiple different speakers that are going to be
00:04:49.100here. You've got Bradley Pierce. He's the president of Abolish Abortion, Texas. So he's an abolitionist.
00:04:56.140He's going to be at the conference speaking. I'll be there speaking. Justin Peters from Justin
00:05:00.940Peter's Ministries. He'll be there speaking. You've got Scott Brown. He's the president of
00:05:06.400Church and Family Life. He'll be there speaking. So it's going to be a great time. It's a family
00:05:11.080friendly conference. Lots of mothers and fathers and children will be present. And if you're coming
00:05:17.880up, it's Thursday through Saturday. But if you want to just come up for the day, so my family
00:05:22.400and I, we're just going to drive up on Saturday. That's when I'll be there. So if you want to come
00:05:26.000for Saturday and it's too late notice to take time off work and come up for multiple days and
00:05:31.080find lodging. I totally get it. This is kind of last minute, but if you want to just come up for
00:05:35.240the day, then they have a special discounted price. It's $40 for a day pass for Saturday,
00:05:41.720September 2nd for an individual $40 and it's $80 for your whole family. So that'd be you,
00:05:47.660your wife, your kids, you know, the whole big shebang. So 80 bucks for a family, $40 for an
00:05:53.020individual. And again, that's Saturday, this Saturday, September 2nd, it's the Forge Conference.
00:05:58.380The theme is the joy of the Lord. My talk is going to be on being a jovial and jolly warrior.
00:06:05.800And so I encourage you guys to come out, meet me, Bradley Pierce, Scott Brown, Justin Peters.
00:06:10.600And in terms of registration, I've been reliably informed. You don't need to do anything online.
00:06:15.780All you have to do is just show up and at the door, it starts at 9 a.m. that Saturday at the
00:06:21.400door at 9 a.m. You can just register in person. You can pay in person. Again, 40 bucks for an
00:06:27.620individual, 80 for the whole family, and directions can be found on their website. So that's the only
00:06:32.380thing that you'll need is just to look at the schedule and look at the directions to find the
00:06:36.460location where it's being hosted. The website, I believe, is forgeministries.com. It may be
00:06:43.360forgeministries.org. Oh, it's .org. Okay, so forgeministries.org. All right, let's go ahead
00:06:52.480and hop into our topic today, Zionism versus Christian nationalism. All right, I want to start
00:06:58.580again with Joshua 10, verses 29 through 43. For the sake of time, I'm not going to read each one
00:07:04.420of these verses. I'm going to give you just a brief synopsis, and then we'll get into the meat
00:07:08.340of all these other texts that I'm going to use. But let's go ahead and either way, let's throw
00:07:12.640the verses up on the screen so that at least those who watch the video on YouTube, they can be able
00:07:17.660to read the verses as I'm giving the synopsis. So this is Joshua chapter 10 verses 29 through 43.
00:07:24.880This is what we've got. Joshua basically is wiping out every single one of the Canaanite tribes.
00:07:32.860Joshua as, you know, commander in chief of Israel, they're going in and it's just tribe after tribe
00:07:39.260after tribe. And what you see in the text again and again repeated is that they put every inhabitant
00:07:45.680of this kingdom, this city, this town to the edge of the sword. Every single one of them. All the
00:07:51.400men, not just the fighting men, but also the women and the children. So what you have is you have
00:07:55.940Joshua and Israel being used by God. They are underneath a divine decree from God. God told
00:08:02.080them to do this. And as they are putting men, women, and children, Canaanite tribes to the edge
00:08:08.520of the sword, putting them to death. This is something that God called them to do. They're
00:08:12.620wiping them out entirely. And I just want to quote real quick here, Matthew Henry, as promised. He
00:08:18.540says this, nothing could justify this military execution, but that herein they did as the Lord
00:08:25.940God of Israel commanded. We see that in verse 40. So let me just read verse 40. It says, so Joshua
00:08:31.360struck the whole land, the hill country and the Negev and the low land and the slopes and all
00:08:37.640their kings he left none remaining but devoted to destruction all that breathed just as the lord
00:08:44.460god of israel commanded so they're doing what god commanded back to the matthew henry quote now
00:08:50.460so nothing could justify this kind of military execution but that in this case herein they were
00:08:57.360doing precisely as the lord god of israel commanded which was sufficient not only to save
00:09:03.280them from imputation, that is to save them from being guilty of some kind of moral atrocity,
00:09:10.260but also to sanctify what they did and make it an acceptable piece of service to God's justice.
00:09:18.660So God gave the decree. Israel is simply obeying God's commandment to drive out all these people,
00:09:25.020to wipe them out entirely, these Canaanite pagan tribes. And as they do this, because it's
00:09:31.340commanded by God that not only absolves Joshua and Israel of any sense of moral guilt, but it also
00:09:37.240sanctifies their military excursion. It actually sanctifies their work, their warfare as a sanctified
00:09:46.280holy service in the sight of God. Now, all that being said, this is the point that when I preached
00:09:53.220this yesterday, and I'm going deeper on this one point that I did in my sermon, but this is the
00:09:58.420point that I made with my congregation. There are two things that God is doing, two big ideas.
00:10:04.540And this is where I think in the Christian nationalist debate, we miss part of the story,
00:10:10.840a significant part of the story. God is doing two things. Two things can be true at once.
00:10:16.460On the one hand, in the first instance, God is fulfilling all the prophecies of blessing
00:10:24.080given to Israel. God is causing Israel to inherit the promised land that flows with milk and
00:10:31.300honey. God is giving to them this land of Canaan that God promised to them through Abraham
00:10:37.120generations prior. So on the one hand, in the first instance, God is fulfilling his good promises
00:10:44.720to Israel. On the second hand, right, there's a second thing going on. God is also using Israel
00:10:52.380as his instrument of justice to exact his righteous and fair judgments on unbelieving
00:11:00.860pagan people so god is fulfilling good promises of blessing for israel and that's unique to israel
00:11:08.980at that time under the old covenant that's not going on today but the second half is and the
00:11:16.900second half is that God is not only fulfilling his promises of blessing for Old Testament,
00:11:23.520Old Covenant Israel, but he is also executing his just judgment on other nations who were in
00:11:31.540rebellion, other nations that were pagan, that were idolaters, that were wicked, that were
00:11:36.760malicious. So, God is fulfilling good promises for Israel. That's unique for Israel under the
00:11:43.240old covenant, but God is also giving just retribution and judgment to bad nations. And that
00:11:51.100still continues to this day. Now I'm going to get a little bit deeper into this by crossing over now
00:11:56.440to Jeremiah chapter 18, verse six through 11. Now this one, I know that we've got prepared. I think
00:12:02.240I put my assistant Nathan on the spot there. I didn't give him a heads up with Joshua 10, but
00:12:06.320this one we've got, this is Jeremiah chapter 18, verse six through 11. Let's go ahead and throw it
00:12:11.500but this one, we're going to go actually into depth. I want us to look verse by verse. So here
00:12:16.440we go. Starting in verse six, this is Jeremiah chapter 18. The Bible says this, behold, like the
00:12:22.760clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. If at any time I declare
00:12:30.300concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it. And if that
00:12:37.140nation concerning which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I
00:12:43.860intended to do to it. And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build
00:12:50.760and plant it, and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the
00:12:58.360good that I intended to do to it. Now, therefore, say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of
00:13:04.180Jerusalem, thus says the Lord, behold, I am shaping disaster against you and devising a plan against
00:13:11.860you. Return everyone from his evil way and amend your ways and your deeds. So this is something
00:13:19.660that God is speaking specifically to the nation of Israel through his prophet Jeremiah. But notice
00:13:27.360how God makes the point. He doesn't just say, this is something that I am going to do to you,
00:13:33.360Israel. And this is unique in my relationship that I only have with you. I don't interact this
00:13:40.260way with any other nation. I only interact on these terms with you, Israel. Israel,
00:13:46.460if I determine that I want to build you up and plant you and see you prosper and increase and
00:13:52.120grow, but you choose to rebel against me, well, then I'll relent of the good I intended to do,
00:13:58.340and I'll do evil, or I will send judgment to you instead. Likewise, Israel, if I decide that I want
00:14:04.980to dismantle and destroy you, but because of your wickedness and hardness of heart, but you repent
00:14:11.360of that, then I'll relent in sending that disaster. I do this with you, Israel, but I don't do it with
00:14:16.040anyone else. No, that's not the way that God makes this point to Israel through the prophet Jeremiah.
00:14:21.840Instead, he makes the point with Israel. It is specific to Israel. He says, you need to repent.
00:14:27.320you're in trouble disaster is coming your way because you've you've earned it by your rebellion
00:14:33.060by your disobedience but if you relent if or i'm sorry if you repent then i will relent of the
00:14:40.220disaster that is coming your way instead i will show you mercy and how does god make the point
00:14:45.240he says because he says this is how i interact the way you can trust that this is true is because
00:14:51.000this is the way that I interact with everyone, with all nations. Behold, like clay in the potter's
00:14:57.180hands, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. That's Israel. But then verse seven, he says,
00:15:02.360if at any time I declare concerning a nation, the implication being any nation. So not just right
00:15:08.900now at this time with you, O Israel, but if at any time with any nation or any kingdom, if I declare
00:15:15.660that I'm going to pluck up and break down and destroy it, but the nation repents, well then
00:15:20.360and it turns from its evil, then I'll relent of the disaster I intended to do to it. And
00:15:25.560on the flip side, if at any time I declare concerning any nation, any time, any nation,
00:15:31.120any kingdom, that I want to build them up or plant them, grow them, prosper them, but they do evil
00:15:36.600in my sight, not listening to my voice, well, then I'll relent of the good that I had intended
00:15:41.100to do to it. So now listen, you, O Israel, you better listen up because see the point that God's
00:15:47.280making through Jeremiah. And chapter 18 is this. He's saying, you should listen to me, Israel,
00:15:53.540because if you think I'm bluffing, well, all you have to do is look at all the other nations
00:16:00.760of the world. This is the way, this isn't unique to you. This is the way I, Yahweh,
00:16:07.380the God of Israel, this is the way that I interact as a just God with all nations in all periods of
00:16:14.740time. If a nation honors me, I'll exalt it. If I'm planning on sending disaster, but a nation
00:16:22.040repents, I'll relent in sending the disaster and I'll show mercy instead. Here would be an example,
00:16:28.200Nineveh. Nineveh is a perfect example. Nineveh was one of the five capital cities that was
00:16:37.920north of the northern kingdom of Israel. This is where Jonah, the prophet, was living at the time.
00:16:46.440He was in this region, and they had already, per prophecies that had been previously made by Isaiah,
00:16:53.320Nineveh and other cities were already ramping up their pre-invasion attacks into the northern tribe
00:17:02.080of the northern kingdom of Israel, where Jonah lived. Jonah very likely had seen some of his
00:17:07.260friends and close loved ones who have been harmed or taken captive or even put to death
00:17:14.160by these Ninevites. Jonah hated the Ninevites. But then, you know, Jonah is called by God to
00:17:21.060go and be a prophet to Nineveh. We always get this part of the story wrong. We think
00:17:24.760Jonah didn't want to go to Nineveh because he was afraid, because they were so wicked that they
00:17:29.060wouldn't listen to his message of repentance. And because they wouldn't listen to his message
00:17:34.480of repentance, they would turn on him, the messenger, and put him to death, kill him.
00:17:39.580That's not what the Bible actually teaches. What Jonah himself actually says through prayer to God
00:17:45.820is he says, is this not what I said to you in Tarshish while I was still on the way? I didn't
00:17:51.200want to go to Nineveh, not because I thought that they wouldn't listen to me in the message of
00:17:55.820repentance you gave me to give to them, and that they would hurt me or kill me, but instead I
00:18:01.420didn't want to go to Nineveh because I thought they would listen to the message of repentance.
00:18:05.540And if they listened, they would indeed actually repent. And then you, oh God, because you're just
00:18:11.800a sucker for repentance and quick to show mercy and slow to anger, you would forgive the Ninevites
00:18:18.620and you would relent in sending disaster and destroying them with the fire and brimstone
00:18:24.080that I've been counting on, that I've been waiting for. I want the Ninevites to pay for the atrocities
00:18:30.060they've committed against me and my people. So Jonah was reluctant, not just reluctant, but
00:18:35.500downright refused to go to Nineveh, not because he thought Nineveh would not listen to him and
00:18:41.020harm him or kill him, but because he thought that Nineveh would listen to him and that they would
00:18:46.920repent and therefore God would relent in sending disaster. Here's the point. The point is that the
00:18:52.940prophet Jonah, just like the prophet Jeremiah, he knew that this is the way God interacts with all
00:18:58.840nations. This is not unique to Israel. Was Israel under the old covenant unique among all the
00:19:05.120nations? Yes, absolutely. But we need to understand in what way. The idea that God sovereignly
00:19:12.360determines to raise up nations and also decimate nations and that those nations, that what God is
00:19:20.180determined to do, that God would relent in sending disaster if the nation chooses righteousness
00:19:25.080and chooses to repent and that God will relent in sending good and prosperity to a nation if that
00:19:31.480nation chooses evil and not to listen to his voice. We need to understand that is just the rubric.
00:19:37.540That's the pattern that God has established and firmly spoken in his word in which he engages
00:19:42.680every nation of the earth, not just Israel. And this is how he engages not just any nation,
00:19:48.840but also at any time. So, this is before the cross, but any time that also includes after
00:19:54.900the cross. So, it doesn't matter if we're in the Old Testament or if we're 2,000 years removed
00:19:59.640from the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, His life, death, and resurrection, and ascension to
00:20:05.420the right hand of God the Father. A nation today, 2,000 years after Christ, Jeremiah chapter 18
00:20:11.380still rings true. If God determines to raise a nation up, but that nation chooses not to listen
00:20:19.080to his voice and to do what is evil in his sight, God will relent of sending them good and instead
00:20:24.460will send them disaster. And if God has determined on the flip side to destroy a nation, but that
00:20:30.520nation chooses to repent, God will relent in sending disaster. Exactly what God did with
00:20:36.340Nineveh in the case of Jonah, and exactly what God is saying in terms of the whole pattern
00:20:41.020what he's saying in terms of the principle at large through the prophet Jeremiah. Now,
00:20:47.840all that having been firmly established, I now want to get a little bit more specific.
00:20:53.020Jeremiah chapter 18, verses 6 through 11. Notice verse 10. It says, if a nation does evil in my
00:20:59.620sight, and then it says, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I
00:21:06.200intended to do to it. It doesn't just say evil in my sight, but right after that we have a comma
00:21:12.980and we have the phrase not listening to my voice, as though these two things are one and the same.
00:21:20.080To do what is evil in God's sight is precisely because a nation is not listening to God's voice.
00:21:28.500It is to not listen to his voice. It is to that hardness of heart, that hardness of hearing,
00:21:34.160as Jesus even spoke of in regards to Israel, closing your ears, hardening your heart,
00:21:40.780and doubling down on your wicked actions because you refuse to listen to the voice of God. This
00:21:47.240is what Jesus said even of the Pharisees. He said, you cannot bear to hear my words. You won't
00:21:52.680listen. It's like God is speaking, and the person who is dead set on rebellion plugs his ears and
00:22:00.240says, nah, nah, nah, nah, I can't hear you. And what God is saying here through Jeremiah in chapter
00:22:05.94018 is that if a nation does what is evil in his sight, which is to not listen to his voice,
00:22:13.180then that nation will not receive good from the Lord. God will relent in sending them good,
00:22:19.100the good he originally intended, and instead will punish them in his just judgment. So this is what
00:22:25.560we got to do now. What we need to understand is from the Bible, and I'm going to cross-reference
00:22:30.100to Psalm 19, we're going to look at Job chapter 12, I'm going to look at Romans chapter 1,
00:22:34.480but we need to cross-reference and understand what is the voice of God.
00:22:39.480If a nation does what is evil in my sight, this is any nation, not just Israel, at any time,
00:22:44.380not just the Old Testament, but still to this day, if a nation does not listen to the voice of God,
00:22:49.040God will relent in sending them good. And instead, the implication is he will send them just judgments
00:22:55.760of disaster. So what does it mean for a nation not to listen to God's voice? Well, first we need
00:23:00.800to ask this question. How does God's voice come to nations? How does God speak? What is the
00:23:07.760instrument, the avenue of God's voice to all the peoples, all the nations today? Psalm 19 verses
00:23:15.860one through four says this, the heavens declare the glory of God. Let's get this one up on the
00:23:21.400screen. The heavens declare the glory of God. The sky proclaims his handiwork. Look, this is speaking
00:23:28.620language. The heavens declare, they speak the glory of God. That's God's voice. The sky proclaims
00:23:37.060God's voice through the instrument, the avenue of the sky. Day to day, and this makes it really,
00:23:43.280really on the nose, really plain. Day to day pours out speech. It's God's voice. Night to night
00:23:50.720reveals knowledge. There is no speech. This is verse three now, chapter 19, verse three.
00:23:57.960There is no speech, nor are there words whose voice is not heard. So not only does God's speech
00:24:04.440go forward, not only does God's speech go forth to all people in all places, to all the nations,
00:24:11.020but also God's speech is heard. There is no voice, there is no words that is not heard. Now, verse 4,
00:24:20.100their voice goes out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world. So, Jeremiah
00:24:27.44018, again, what is one of the things that's going to put a nation in bad standing with God to where
00:24:34.200he will relent of doing it good and instead will send disaster? If they do evil in God's sight,
00:24:40.300that's Jeremiah 18 verse 10, evil in his sight, not listening to his voice. And how does God speak?
00:24:47.800Where does his voice come from? What's the avenue of his voice? Psalm 19, day to day pours out
00:24:54.240speech, night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech. There are no words whose voice is
00:25:00.180not heard in Israel. No. Verse four, their voice goes out through all the earth, not just with
00:25:06.940Israel and their words to the end of the world. Every nation hears the voice of God, if in no
00:25:14.540other way, if they've never received a missionary or a prophet or a verse of holy writ, every single
00:25:21.460nation, all the peoples have in fact heard the voice of God, if through no other avenue,
00:25:26.200they have heard it by his handiwork in creation itself. The sky pours forth speech. The sky
00:25:35.340proclaims his handiwork. The heavens declare God's glory. That's the heavens, the stars, the moon,
00:25:41.060the sun. Day to day, the day pours out speech. The night reveals knowledge, and this speech and
00:25:48.020knowledge is heard. There's no speech. There's no words that are not heard. And where are they heard?
00:25:54.700By whom are they heard? Throughout all the earth. Their words, God's word, through his handiwork
00:26:01.560is heard throughout the whole earth to the end of the world. Now here's the next question. So if a
00:26:08.980nation does what's evil in God's sight, which is to do what's evil in God's sight, is to not listen
00:26:13.920to his voice, that nation will be laid low by God. That's any nation at any time. Now what is it to
00:26:21.800not listen to God's voice? What is God's voice? What's the avenue, the instrument of his voice?
00:26:25.780creation. Day to day, night to night, the heavens, the skies. Now here's the next question. What is
00:26:33.360the message of God's voice? We've talked about the instrument. The instrument of God's voice
00:26:37.480is natural revelation, creation. What now is the contents of that message? What is God's voice?
00:26:45.180Not how is he speaking, but what is he speaking? This is where we get into Job. So let's pull that
00:26:51.300up real quick. This is Job chapter 12, verses 7 through 10. Starting in verse 7, the Bible says
00:26:56.940this, but ask the beast, and they will teach you, the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you,
00:27:03.760or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you, or the fish of the sea will declare to you.
00:27:09.340Who among all these does not know? Here's the message. So far, all we've got is how God speaks,
00:27:16.780just another fleshing out of the instrument of God's speech, right? We saw that God spoke through
00:27:23.200heavens, the sky, the day, the night. Now we're seeing he speaks through beasts, birds, bushes,
00:27:30.440fish of the sea. But now what? Not how does God speak, but what does he speak? This is verse 9,
00:27:37.360Job chapter 12, verse 9. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?
