If there was any group in the New Testament that could be trusted not to falsely assure anyone that they were saved, it would have to be the Church at Corinth. The Corinthian Church was a mess. They were in need of many warnings, many warnings and many consoling and comforting. So the conclusion is that whatever church that might be comforting or consoling the congregation is better than the Corinthian church.

00:03:08.840 say to me, Lord, Lord, we did this in your name and that in your name. Meaning there are a lot

00:03:15.200 of people who will be shocked when they wake up in hell. It's not just that there will be a lot

00:03:23.300 of people in hell saying, yeah, this makes sense. Yeah, I figured. No, many will say, what's going

00:03:34.160 on? I was a Christian. And so false assurance is a damning, literally damning offense. The false

00:03:45.080 teacher who grants false assurance to unbelievers, but speaks to them and assures them that they are 0.65

00:03:51.900 believers, a false teacher, a false prophet, that person is damning people to hell. The Old Testament 0.84

00:03:59.320 speaks of false prophets in this way condemning them saying they've healed the wounds of my people

00:04:05.760 lightly saying peace peace when there is no peace they've taken gaping wounds and they've

00:04:16.060 healed them lightly oh it's okay you'll be fine nothing to see here nothing to be concerned about

00:04:24.820 so so handing out false assurance is a big deal but the point is that if there's anyone we can

00:04:34.340 trust other than jesus christ himself not to hand out false assurance it would have been the apostle

00:04:40.960 paul and if there was any group that that you would be in danger of falsely assuring

00:05:45.660 by the grace of God, I think you're better covenant Bible church than the Corinthian church.
