00:01:03.240 Yeah, Eastern Orthodoxy, obviously there are unique distinctions, but by and large, it's

00:01:10.320 You don't just have one Pope, you have like a collection of Popes, right?

00:01:13.260 So you have like a plurality of the papacy with Eastern Orthodoxy, but it presents the 0.96

00:01:19.300 um idol worship uh it presents the problems of justification by grace alone through faith alone

00:01:25.620 in christ alone uh problems with baptismal regeneration um all those different things

00:01:31.280 but eastern orthodoxy um although it has its problems um although i you know i would say the

00:01:37.460 same thing that i say for roman catholics um you can be a roman catholic and be a christian

00:01:42.800 but it will be despite roman catholicism not because of it right so my point is if you're

00:01:49.060 a bad Catholic, you might be a good Christian. If you're a good Catholic, you're going to

00:01:52.960 help. And when I say a good Catholic, what I mean is subscribing to all the teachings

00:01:57.760 of Rome. If you subscribe to all the teachings of Rome, then you've just subscribed yourself

00:02:02.220 out of the gospel of Jesus Christ, because still in the books, the Council of Trent anathematizes,

00:02:07.580 curses the very gospel of Jesus Christ that we're saved by grace alone, through faith

00:02:11.360 alone, in Christ alone. That's still in the books. That's the official position of the

00:02:15.900 Roman Catholic Church. And although there are some distinctions, that remains a very similar

00:02:20.480 position, some similar problems with Eastern Orthodoxy. One of the reasons for the record

00:02:26.240 for the split is the Falloki. So basically, does the Holy Spirit, Augustine, this is one of the

00:02:32.440 things that he got into, St. Augustine, but does the Holy Spirit proceed from the Father alone,

00:02:37.320 or does the Holy Spirit proceed from both the Father and the Son? Both Catholics and Protestants,

00:02:43.780 such as myself, whether you be Baptist or Presbyterian or Anglican or whatever it might be,

00:02:50.160 we believe that the Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son, whereas Eastern Orthodoxy

00:02:56.520 would deny that and say that the Spirit proceeds from the Father alone. Does this matter?

00:03:02.320 Processions within the Godhead? Yeah, we're talking about theology proper. We're talking

00:03:06.740 about doctrine of God. It does matter. Processions of the three persons of the Trinity do in fact

00:03:12.060 to matter. But my suspicion, and many biblical scholars and, you know, historians, theological

00:03:19.180 historians would say that, you know, what really was at play was, it was a battle of authority.

00:03:24.520 So they made a theological argument that does matter and has validity. But really underneath

00:03:30.220 that thin veil was the real issue of who's in charge. And so, you know, in order to split,

00:03:37.440 They, you know, they, you know, hung their hat on the fallokia, you know, who, who does

00:03:41.420 the spirit proceed from the father alone or both the son and the father.

00:03:45.380 And that's why you have the split.

00:03:46.520 And then also, you know, from that, you know, court, you know, cascades, other distinctions,

00:03:51.000 one of them would be images, right?

00:03:52.420 So the second commandment, you know, so Rome would say that, you know, that we can have,

00:04:00.740 you know, graven images, whereas Eastern Orthodoxy would say no graven images, but you can have

00:04:06.140 images, just not graven ones, right? So Eastern Orthodoxy would have, you know, pictures of

00:04:11.260 Christ, like a painting, right? But it can't be 3D. It can be a 2D image, but it can't be a 3D

00:04:18.680 image. It can't be an actual carved image, graven image, like a statue. And so, whereas Rome would

00:04:25.940 say that's fine, because Rome has just completely discarded the second commandment. And what they

00:04:30.860 do, you know, because it's like, you can't have nine commandments, that's pretty obvious. So to

00:04:34.480 pull the wool over people's eyes, to still have 10 commandments in Exodus 20, what they do is they

00:04:38.880 skip the second commandment. So they go first, straight from the first, thou shalt have no other

00:04:43.560 gods before me to the third. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord God in vain. And then to get

00:04:49.000 10 commandments, what they do is they take the 10th commandment, thou shalt not covet, and they break

00:04:52.580 that up into two commandments. Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's wife, and then thou shalt not

00:04:56.840 covet your neighbor's stuff, his house or his male servant or female servant or his ox or his donkey

00:05:01.120 or anything that is your neighbor's, right? 0.62

00:05:03.300 So that's what Rome does

00:05:04.580 is they take the 10th commandment

00:05:05.760 and break it into two

00:05:06.720 and delete the second commandment

00:05:08.820 so they still have, you know, 10 commandments.

00:05:12.920 because they're fine with images in every regard.

00:05:18.200 Eastern Orthodoxy is fine with the painting,

00:05:20.040 but not the sculpture.

00:05:21.220 And so there's multiple ways

00:05:24.080 and say it's a really, really big deal. 0.99

00:05:25.740 And some of it is the Philoky matter,

00:05:27.440 certainly processions within the Godhead matter. 0.65

00:05:31.120 But at the end of the day, what it really came down to was it was a battle of authority.

00:05:38.280 Does it rest in Rome?

00:05:39.360 Does it rest with the Pope?

00:05:42.160 And those kinds of things.

00:05:43.240 So Eastern Orthodoxy, like Roman Catholicism, I believe that if you follow it to the T,

00:05:48.660 it is outside of Orthodoxy, ironically.

00:05:51.300 Eastern Orthodoxy is not Orthodoxy. 0.88

00:05:53.540 If you follow it to the T, then you will go to hell because it is a false teaching. 0.83
