The Podcast of the Lotus Eaters - The Podcast of the Lotus Eaters #1002

00:00:00.000 hello and welcome to the podcast of the lotus seaters today is tuesday the 17th of september

00:00:16.640 and this is episode number 1002 and i'm joined by my esteemed colleagues dan and beau and we're

00:00:25.820 gonna discuss how hugh edwards gets away with being a dirty pedo and then we're gonna lighten

00:00:32.160 the tone up with the far future of humanity and the mission to europa the first one's a bit dark 0.88

00:00:37.320 isn't it it's it's very dark not much fun in the first segment but we're gonna do our best to try

00:00:42.500 and uplift it afterwards i hope you will because mine is very dark it's very dark but before we

00:00:50.240 begin we have an announcement to make life is all about grabbing the bull by the horns not letting

00:00:55.940 opportunities to go to waste and i have an opportunity here for you you have four weeks to order islander

00:01:02.040 number two it's not it's gonna be wonderful just we have excellent material here do give that a shot

00:01:10.000 right so let's talk a bit about this very difficult case here i have some issue with the

00:01:20.600 with uh pardon me we have some issue with the

00:01:24.160 we have some issue with the this the mic isn't working do you want to give us the first tab

00:01:31.340 there we go right okay so few things offend our sentiment of justice less than pedophiles getting

00:01:37.640 away with it and uh hugh edwards is such a case and it seems that everyone is very much worried

00:01:44.580 about how he has been handled and everyone is just worried about not just the laws that exist but also

00:01:50.560 the spirit in which they have been administered is it worth briefly explaining to our american audience

00:01:55.320 who this hugh edwards guy is yes he has been a one of the biggest journalists for decades i think

00:02:03.760 for about four decades wasn't it wasn't he the news read he was he was the main news read in the uk

00:02:09.060 news presenter yes yes an anchor man yes so a top bbc man he was top bbc man the top person in the

00:02:17.400 payroll he had the biggest uh salary per year and the biggest annual salary he covered the death of

00:02:24.340 queen elizabeth and he also covered the coronation of king charles yes so it's it's going to make it

00:02:32.660 a lot harder to bring out the box set of the queen funerals now that now he was essentially top tier yes

00:02:38.400 very high profile journalist who is uh faced with who has pleaded guilty to to having let's say pornographic

00:02:47.500 material also depicting children so it's a very difficult segment here we have a timeline of his

00:02:54.740 fall you will see here that there have been several allegations against him we have an article here by

00:03:02.980 the daily mail that is saying a lot of stuff of what happened across time so for instance we have in

00:03:08.860 march 2023 he signed a new three-year deal with the bbc in april 2023 the police were

00:03:17.320 contacted but no criminality was identified in uh may 18 2023 didn't this all start with him trying

00:03:25.060 to buy nudes off some 14 year old boy or something like that you will see you will see he he did buy

00:03:31.300 some stuff and what is very very sad is that the court gave him the most ridiculously charitable

00:03:41.080 interpretation and i do have a document of people saying well i don't think you actually bought it

00:03:47.700 what the financial transaction between you and the distributor had more the issue the character of a

00:03:54.800 gift this is it is just sickening sickening the reason i get confused is there are so many pedo

00:04:02.540 stories that come out of the bbc it's very easy to mix them up yes so i have details about this which

00:04:09.020 are absolutely horrifying so here may 19th may 19th 2023 a complainant contacted the bbc in a 29

00:04:16.420 minute call to the bbc's audience services team and the details were referred to the corporate

00:04:21.480 investigations team the family member reportedly asked the broadcaster to stop sending their family

00:04:27.760 member cash anyway so the corporate investigations team decided the complaint didn't include an

00:04:35.100 allegation of criminality but merited more investigation they say they can't they contacted

00:04:40.660 the complainant but the complainant says that they weren't contacted

00:04:44.200 anyway so we have july the 5th hugh edwards is seen for the last time on the bbc as he covered king

00:04:53.100 charles visit to scotland july the 6th 2023 the sun informs bbc press office about allegations against

00:05:01.180 hugh edwards and they are launching an incident management group july the 7th the sun publishes

00:05:08.540 an exclusive which alleges that hugh edwards unnamed at the time paid a total of 35 000 pounds for sexual

00:05:15.520 content to someone beginning when they were 17 and you will see that at some point the bbc said

00:05:22.920 soon afterwards that it's best if we stop having you on air appear on air until these allegations are

00:05:30.980 resolved but they kept paying him so he stopped appearing on the bbc but they keep kept paying

00:05:37.260 him right so you see here that about november 20 uh november the 8th 2023 he is arrested but he

00:05:46.220 tells no one then this february 20 the 27th the bbc apologizes to the young person's family who had

00:05:53.720 complained about edwards two months before edwards resigns from the bbc april 22nd then june 26th edwards

00:06:03.460 is charged with the possession of indecent images of children and as you see here july 31st the end

00:06:10.800 of july this year he pleads guilty to making 41 indecent images of children now before we say more about

00:06:18.940 this there is an issue with how making appears in legislation and i will show you exactly so it's

00:06:25.740 not that he took the pictures it's an issue that we have to did he commission them or something he

00:06:32.000 received them right um the prosecutor on the sentencing remark or the the judge they say that

00:06:40.120 we accuse you of making but we are aware of how the law is phrased in a misleading manner i'll show you

00:06:46.180 all about it and then yesterday edwards is sentenced to six months in prison suspended for two years

00:06:53.600 so essentially he got away with it not even a day in prison and uh for those of you who haven't

00:07:00.540 understood not a single day in prison not a single day so we've just come through the last month

00:07:07.280 where people are being going uh going to jail for 20 months for facebook posts yes and he didn't

00:07:13.380 spend a single day in jail a single day and as you will see here category a pictures involve pictures

00:07:20.840 that have images involving penetrative sexual activity involving with possession of images

00:07:27.940 involving sexual activity with an animal or savior and it was about underage children so i'm not i'm not

00:07:35.100 trying to derail your segment here but i just can't get over the fact that for the last month we've been

00:07:39.960 seeing people going to jail for years over and it was things like a facebook post it was things

00:07:47.320 like one woman threw the contents of her drink glass towards it didn't even touch the police officers

00:07:52.680 she just threw it in the general direction of the police officers she went to jail for like over well 0.99

00:07:56.660 over a year a guy shouted at a police dog and got two years yes and and and this guy not a single day

00:08:04.580 so i'll stop derailing now i just i just had to get that off my chest right so this is this becomes

00:08:10.160 very worrying because we will see how he got caught and i didn't think that i was going to be more

00:08:15.740 angry at this but turns out i was considerably more because it's harrowing because hugh edwards isn't the

00:08:23.820 only one who got away with it it's the distributor who got away with it as well they say here that a convicted

00:08:30.720 pedophile was paid hundreds of pounds by hugh edwards to send evil child abuse images spending

00:08:37.560 his cash to see him through university and they have here alex williams 25 year old shared 41 indecent

00:08:45.780 images with edwards in an abhorrent whatsapp call among the sickening trove of abusive pictures

00:08:51.740 shared by the sex offender were two showing a boy as young as seven edwards was snared by chance by

00:08:58.880 police in wales who were investigating williams and stumbled upon his messages sent to the fame

00:09:03.720 news reader so essentially they found alex williams they were checking his phone and they saw that he

00:09:10.820 had correspondence with hugh edwards and that's how they found hugh edwards and they say that the 25

00:09:18.820 year old the son reported that the 25 year old also distributed horrific photographs to four other men

00:09:24.680 one of which showed a one year old being sexually abused no child abuse pictures were found on the

00:09:31.420 former bbc news presenter's phone as it says here but i must say that all these articles they're

00:09:37.880 sometimes very contradictory because they cannot say on the one hand that no such thing has been found

00:09:42.900 on hugh edwards possession but on the other hand saying that he pleaded guilty to having images of

00:09:48.300 sexual abuse maybe they're doing it for for not being sued or something i don't know it's just

00:09:53.460 maybe it wasn't on his phone it was on his computer i mean god knows seems like the welsh pedo community

00:09:57.920 is quite small then if they're and this man that's because they've all moved to to work at the bbc

00:10:04.620 and hugh edwards did grow up in south wales and as you will see in the court document the

00:10:11.700 psychoanalytic evaluator of his personality said that he grew up in a puritanical south wales

00:10:19.320 that messed up with his personality no that's no i'm not buying that so well it gets much darker 0.68

00:10:26.080 here because they were saying that um williams admitted possessing and distributing child sex

00:10:31.760 images and having 58 prohibited computer generated images of children and the images were slumped by

00:10:38.680 judges evil and williams received the suspended sentence of 12 months so here we have yet again

00:10:44.660 judges saying on the one hand that this is evil and unacceptable they're pulling their virtue

00:10:50.440 signaling but on the other hand suspended sentence do we know the name of the judge

00:10:54.700 uh i don't think so no what's the person's name i don't know judges should be named and shamed when

00:11:02.200 they do this stuff i suppose they'd make the argument that they're following the sentencing

00:11:07.860 guidelines but in which case the sentencing guidelines are wrong they are yeah yes both

00:11:12.920 things yeah it's obviously at the judge's discretion to some degree though isn't it yeah

00:11:17.820 well i think i think stereos is going to come on to that yes i mean essentially it's the issue

00:11:23.220 that we have laws and people who are adjudicating cases so these people are meant to interpret

00:11:28.720 the law and apply it so it could go go wrong in any way but also we could have silly laws it doesn't

00:11:35.620 mean that just because something is a law it's the good thing so here it gets even darker they're

00:11:41.460 saying that they found a conversation between the two of them and this conversation lasted between

00:11:48.860 december 2020 and august 2021 alex williams says here something like i have a file of vids and

00:11:55.540 picks for you someone special want me to send you the file says yes triple x and says williams

00:12:02.220 contacts edwards and says he has some naughty images go on young go on williams says the individual in

00:12:08.620 the image looks quite young and he says ages can be deceptive williams suggests then that some of the

00:12:14.100 images may be illegal and then hugh edwards responds ah okay don't but it seems to me that if you have

00:12:20.220 on the one hand 41 images of this nature and you make things like that then it seems to me that

00:12:27.300 it's just acting in advance to have a sort of alibi yeah you you cannot just say no don't send me

00:12:34.100 illegal pictures but then receive 41 illegal pictures that just looks like caution rather than yes

00:12:40.700 one of the things that is particularly galling about this other than obviously the sentence

00:12:46.020 um and the crime itself of course um is the hypocrisy because hugh edwards if there's any

00:12:52.020 americans out there or foreign people who never watched the bbc he will have sat there for years

00:12:56.200 pouring school on other people that got caught for stuff yeah undoubtedly yeah point school on people

00:13:02.300 like gillane maxwell or jeffrey epstein or whoever yeah sitting there they've been convicted of of sex 0.99

00:13:08.880 crimes yeah dirty fucking pedo pieces and they're saying here the court also heard that the presenter 0.99

00:13:17.460 had told williams via message that ages can be deceptive as we showed when informed that and well 0.99

00:13:24.000 one of the subjects in an image was quite young looking before asking if he had any more so it's

00:13:30.180 just absolute absolutely violent sickening here as we are going to show you he got found guilty and he pleaded

00:13:39.380 guilty in having seven category age category a photos 12 category b and 22 category c and category a as

00:13:49.940 are described here are possession of images involving penetrative sexual activity possession of images

00:13:57.300 involving sexual activity with an animal or sadism category b is just possession of images involving

00:14:03.940 non-penetrative sexual activity and category c possession of other indecent images not falling

00:14:09.220 within categories a or b and we need to remind people that this is about children

00:14:18.260 it's not someone send uh send him a photo with a breast of of uh you know a 30 year old model it's not 0.99

00:14:26.260 that it's underage children pictures is there anyone at the bbc that isn't a goddamn wrong one yeah i 0.62

00:14:33.620 don't know god's sake how many how many even a drive is it gonna be even a driver they had a chauffeur was 0.95

00:14:41.220 a uh convicted convicted offender they've literally got the pedo statue outside the front haven't they

00:14:48.020 the pedo statue right we have here the westminster magister rates court um sentencing remarks and

00:14:57.540 this is an infuriating document we have here the prosecutor and also the person the lawyer who is

00:15:04.500 talking about the defendant if you see this is a 16 page document if you want to talk about two-tier

00:15:11.780 justice read this document now i know some people who are saying that this document is mandatory

00:15:17.860 reading and we you cannot comment the case without it and this is a threat by the secret barrister

00:15:23.540 here who is arguing at towards the end that it it isn't two-tier case but it absolutely is and i'll

00:15:30.660 show you right now why now if we go here if we scroll down in the facts you will see that

00:15:40.660 just to pick up on the point that the secret barrister was making there

00:15:43.460 i understand that almost certainly that it was technically correct given the sentencing guidelines

00:15:49.780 the problem is is that the our society should not be set up in this way in the first place

00:15:55.140 the sentencing guidelines should not be a situation where you can go to jail for a facebook post saying

00:16:00.100 that you don't like keir starmer whereas you should go to jail for stuff like this yes but i think that's

00:16:06.340 the two-tier i think we could go even one step further and say that even in this case where they're saying

00:16:11.780 that the maximum sentencing for this case is five years five years and zero still has so he got the

00:16:18.340 most clement so it's the guidelines is one thing and of course that's perhaps actually the most the

00:16:23.940 more important thing the foundation of it is that but he could have should have the judge did have in

00:16:29.220 his discretion to send him down for five years and chose not to so the guidelines are at fault sure

00:16:34.900 the actual law itself but the judge the magistrate yeah and also as i will as i will show you right now

00:16:43.540 there is a i would say very to my mind just disgusting and shameful attempt of the people who are

00:16:52.900 prosecuting him to give the most ridiculously charitable interpretations of what he did and you know where

00:17:00.820 this is evident in the way they interpret the financial transaction between alex williams and

00:17:06.820 hugh edwards so let me just start with the making allegation and then show you exactly what they said

00:17:12.980 if that's not the most ridiculously charitable interpretation i don't know what is so there's

00:17:18.660 they're saying although you accept making images as described in law you do not accept that you in any

00:17:23.940 way physically made or created any of the images in question at most what you accept you did is to

00:17:29.940 make within quotation mark any image was open the whatsapp which contained the images i think

00:17:35.380 that's not even uh well formulated english you say you did nothing more with them i accept that submission

00:17:42.180 there is no evidence of you doing anything further with those images and i proceed on that basis so the

00:17:48.100 assumption for sentencing is that he he just they were just sent and sent to him then this gets

00:17:56.180 contradicted by what they're saying afterwards number two i accept you did not make payments in order

00:18:01.780 to pay for images to be sent in particular indecent images so money was sent by hugh edwards to alex

00:18:09.460 williams but the person here sentencing says i accept you did not pay in order to pay for images to be sent

00:18:16.660 yeah why then they have an answer why which is infuriating they're saying the prosecution accept that

00:18:25.060 you were not directly asking for and then paying directly for images but rather that there is a

00:18:30.740 clear inference from the nature of the relationship coupled with reading the direct messaging that

00:18:36.100 exists that demonstrates alex williams to be requesting gifts and presents after he has sent

00:18:42.340 images and you then respond by sending him money i agree with the prosecution analysis this appears

00:18:47.860 to be by way of an apparent thank you you don't thank people who send things to you like that you go to

00:18:53.060 the police yes good point and what would they need anyway like an actual transaction where he puts a note

00:18:59.380 on the netwest transaction saying this is for pedo images thank you yeah like what is what how is it

00:19:06.660 not it's a very good point how is it not that uh and they say here i accept you told the individual

00:19:13.380 who sent the images not to send images of people who were underage but only at a later stage which

00:19:18.340 is not from the beginning this is not a case where despite protestation not to nonetheless the images

00:19:23.620 were still sent so that extent this mitigation is qualified so and they are giving him the benefit of

00:19:30.580 the doubt they're giving him the most ridiculously charitable interpretation which is just 1.00

00:19:36.900 it's just a it's just a shameful f you to the two people yeah it's like you're you're stupid and 1.00

00:19:48.180 we're gonna say that this is it's just a thank you gift what's the name of that prosecutor that 0.99

00:19:53.220 barrister i want to know their name and the judge can you google it dan and also they're saying they're

00:19:58.580 saying that they are giving also giving him the benefit of the doubt the way they didn't give

00:20:05.300 to a lot of other people who got sentenced they're saying i accept that you had issues with your

00:20:09.860 mental health the degree to which you in fact did receive any sexual gratification from the indecent

00:20:15.700 images as opposed to the more general pornography received is difficult to assess and i defer to the

00:20:20.820 medical evidence where if it's difficult to assess why are you saying some sentences before that you're

00:20:28.900 not exactly proven to have these for sexual gratification well just ridiculous is a legitimate

00:20:36.260 reason i mean it's infuriating and here we have reports by consultant psychiatrists and neuropsychiatrist

00:20:44.900 and they're saying mr edwards is a complex individual with psychologically challenging upbringing

00:20:50.340 the restrictive puritanical but often hypocritical background of growing up in the particular

00:20:55.220 cultural milieu of south wales with a father who was highly regarded and lauded outside the family 0.69

00:21:01.860 sort of messed him up what yeah that's exactly what they're saying what nonsense they're saying

00:21:08.100 that he has a proneness to clinical depression also here they're saying father was highly regarded

00:21:13.060 therefore it's all right for you to have but yeah it was the puritanical milieu of south wales just

00:21:20.420 like a di activist just saying and they don't they don't do these psychological evaluations of everybody

00:21:25.460 else who goes through the court no they don't and they are already pronouncing you're the devil

00:21:30.820 they're giving the most the worst interpretation they can give they don't even run a trial so someone

00:21:36.980 with his recent you know kia starmer stuff he was saying you know you will get you will get the

00:21:41.220 toughest sentences before these people had even had evidence presented at court yeah he was saying you

00:21:46.020 get tough sentences and here there's another forensic psychosexual therapist saying mr edwards was

00:21:51.700 particularly destabilized through the process of commencing a social media presence which allow

00:21:56.660 him to interact with people that otherwise he would have never engaged with so he started an account

00:22:02.580 and then he couldn't handle it and he started for to asking for some little richard picks it makes no 0.96

00:22:08.740 sense he's a goddamn grown man take responsibility for your actions god yeah but beau i think you're very 0.98

00:22:14.900 uncharitable because he had to manage his low mood all right he had to manage his i hate i hate this 0.99

00:22:20.020 nearly always when someone does a terrible crime and also they talked about the the the the difficulty

00:22:26.820 of their childhood only in the most extreme cases would i ever dream of taking anything like that into

00:22:32.740 account yeah only in the most extreme cases there seems to be from what we just saw there anyway

00:22:37.380 nothing in hugh edwards yeah i mean if you grew up like conan the barbarian or something i could understand

00:22:42.980 something like this but he grew up with a with a well-regarded father in a middle-class household

00:22:48.260 what's that what is that it's nothing and also you need to bear in mind that he didn't study

00:22:54.340 an oxford or cambridge he wasn't an oxbridge person and he felt a bit weird they actually say this

00:23:02.580 they actually say this i saw that line it was something about he didn't get into cambridge he

00:23:09.380 had to make do with cardiff i mean cardiff is a bit but it doesn't it still doesn't justify it i tell

00:23:15.540 you like because i went to that sort of a uni that was sort of just below oxford and cambridge right

00:23:20.580 and i never really thought i would get into i didn't i knew i wasn't going to get a levels good

00:23:24.420 enough to get in oxford and cambridge but i knew quite a lot of people at six from college that tried

00:23:28.020 really really hard one or two that got in most fail and then when i went to uni there's a few

00:23:32.580 there where it was sort of their second thing i went to king's college london sort of a tier for

00:23:36.740 doing classics it's just below oxford and cambridge really and there's a couple people there where they

00:23:40.340 really hope to get into oxford and cambridge have failed and they had a massive chip on their shoulder

00:23:43.700 about it i i was thankful for what i got i never but there's loads of people that have got a bit of a

00:23:48.420 chip on their shoulder that they just about failed to get into oxford or cambridge it doesn't mean

00:23:52.420 anything it doesn't mean you can then do all sorts of weirdo crimes sex crimes like what what

00:24:02.500 oh okay here here we have it they're saying that he developed a sort of cognitive dissonance and low

00:24:10.100 self-esteem compounded by a sense of being inferior by not getting into oxford and going to cambridge

00:24:15.860 instead and being therefore sometimes of an outsider at the bbc yeah being the most

00:24:22.020 well paid well he getting close to 470k a year well imagine what a tragedy and being a pedo therefore

00:24:31.220 he clearly wasn't an outsider at the bbc he was part of the core group on the inside yeah we have here

00:24:36.340 the mitigating factors that they appealed and they say well you have no prior convictions you show remorse

00:24:42.980 you have positive characters character in the past and you have mental disorder and they're saying

00:24:48.820 they're saying it's an and or saying that mr edwards would appear to have voluntarily desisted

00:24:53.940 or at least asked not to be sent underage images at points in time during this threat consistent i don't

00:24:59.940 understand this they're essentially saying he runs risk if he get goes to jail he's in a very fragile

00:25:08.100 condition if he leaves the bubble he's in so we are going to take that into account they didn't take the

00:25:14.740 psychological detrimental effect being incarcerated has on people that they incarcerated now with with

00:25:23.380 uh with uh what happened all the victims in the images no i mean i wouldn't call it pornography i saw

00:25:29.300 a thing on twitter where someone on bbc called it pornography it's that's not really the right word is it

00:25:34.740 it's not really the right word it's like evil is a better word for what it what it is yes it's

00:25:41.380 right we need to remember that whenever we're talking about uh things like that we are talking

00:25:46.100 about children who are essentially scarred for life yeah their life's sort of ruined in all sorts of

00:25:52.180 ways yeah anyway there are massive protests outside the bbc we have people saying here bbc repent you

00:26:01.460 have bbc savile syndrome they're saying the bbc has abused children and that's what the protesters are

00:26:07.540 saying for over hundreds for over you know many years and they're talking about a lot of allegations

00:26:13.540 and they're saying here for instance 145 allegations of child sexual abuse since jimmy savile in 2013.

00:26:23.780 so at what point can you describe the bbc as a pedo ring 145 since 2013. that's exactly the question

00:26:32.180 that people should be asked how many people have to be convicted of these and have to be accused of

00:26:39.620 these crimes in order to say that there's something going seriously wrong i mean there was another one

00:26:45.540 i i kind of even hesitate to bring it up i hate thinking about this stuff but there was uh another

00:26:49.620 bbc guy who steward hall the dogs guy there's so many they're two different ones but yeah the dogs dude

00:26:56.580 yeah okay so so that's a different so okay well there's there's another two

00:27:02.740 anyway we have we'd be here all day if we list them all yeah we can we have here people being

00:27:08.100 just uh incredibly infuriated by what is going on we can't show all of you all of what is being

00:27:15.300 said because it's just endless everyone is saying things they're saying you know he got a mental health

00:27:20.980 as though they were concerned for his safety so they're they were concerned for his safety they

00:27:26.020 deliberately said he is in a fragile condition if we if he goes to jail he most likely won't make it

00:27:34.740 but they never said this about the people that they incarcerated now and some of them haven't made it

00:27:41.140 yes well the the guy who left a bacon sandwich near a mosque he got killed in jail yeah nobody cared

00:27:47.540 nobody cared so they show him they gave him the benefit of the doubt and they gave him the most

00:27:53.780 ridiculously charitable interpretation of his heinous actions and then you know you have people saying

00:27:59.940 that this is not two-tier justice it absolutely is and the prosecutor is called philip evans and the

00:28:05.700 judge is called paul goldspring anyway we had a lot of people like owen jones who had tried to

00:28:14.180 to speak in favor of hugh edwards this is a tweet uh that says from owen jones says the sun last year

00:28:25.300 the sun is a disgusting rag and they have to pay for what they've done to hugh edwards they try to 0.92

00:28:30.340 destroy someone's life with false claims of illegality involving a minor how do you know how do you know 0.98

00:28:36.820 what's the source i mean just because you're a ridiculous woke activist doesn't mean that you know 0.92

00:28:41.780 everything you're not omniscient he says we know now there was no criminality and the sun have driven 0.98

00:28:47.380 a vulnerable man into medical care and carl has a brilliant response damn that age poorly that's a 0.77

00:28:54.260 classic line yeah that's exactly perfect i was thinking i was thinking something like that and

00:28:58.580 carl said it i'm giving him a like right and we have here george monbyo saying so hugh edwards gets a

00:29:07.460 suspended sentence for buying and making pornographic images of children while peaceful environmental

00:29:12.820 defenders seeking to prevent social catastrophe get three four to five years some justice this i'm

00:29:17.860 showing this not to say george monbyo is uh is uh correct about the general way of looking at things

00:29:25.700 but to show you how this case has infuriated people both left and right just quickly say that george

00:29:32.580 monbyo or however you pronounce it is one of the worst people he's the worst okay he's the absolute

00:29:38.580 pits of a human being yeah we have here james mcmurdoch saying this is what a system no longer fit for

00:29:44.740 purpose looks like and obviously that's the case keyboard warrior jail for part in uk disorder and

00:29:51.700 hugh edwards contributing to a sick market where which takes advantage of children getting away with that

00:30:01.220 even a day in prison and i think that um nigel farage is correct on this because it's ultimately an 0.54

00:30:07.620 issue of delegitimization of institutions as well as crime against children because a lot of people

00:30:15.620 who are trying to defend hugh edwards and they rush to defend him and they are in a sense the pro

00:30:22.260 establishment voices they don't stop to think that when it comes to justice when it comes to the

00:30:29.540 government when it comes to the state people need to have a sort of legit there needs to be legitimacy

00:30:36.500 in order to have a well-functioning society the public at large must have a sort of trust to those

00:30:42.580 institutions when we see glaring examples of injustice like that it's just ridiculous how can

00:30:51.140 you expect people to think institutions are legitimized so when pedophiles get away with it yes people

00:30:57.380 are angry and the institutions get more and more legitimized and society goes down on a fast decline

00:31:06.980 i wonder if we could get uh the honorable paul goldspring i wonder if anyone will ever ask him

00:31:13.780 like why didn't you get why was that a suspended sentence why why we have some rum ah and here we

00:31:21.060 we need to remind you that we we have the islander magazine issue two coming out if you want to

00:31:27.700 support us to keep speaking common sense definitely check this and check our website we have lovely

00:31:33.940 islander merch and the first one was a huge success the second one is going to be even more so thank you

00:31:40.900 very much well that was uh that was a bit depressing wasn't it let's try and yes but we ourselves up a bit

00:31:47.060 before the uh for changing the tone and doing something cheerful yes but we have the ramble chat we have the

00:31:53.380 last russian saying throwing a dollar at bow for being based with expressing the rightful rage the audience

00:31:59.780 has right now no other words for it and it's two dollars actually uh key um samson talked about the

00:32:06.420 uh keith kaiser and thread note the consequences of my actions are damaging to my mental health

00:32:13.620 government supported nonce also owen jones is never going to retract that statement absolutely

00:32:20.740 right i hope we go for more yeah we're we're trying to sing a bit more cheerful shall we that's uh

00:32:26.980 yeah yeah well i'll do it a bit into the segment it's a bit weird if i do it right

00:32:30.260 right at the beginning of the segment so uh bring up the presentation i'll i'll hop back to it um

00:32:36.420 right okay so last week uh bow you did a bit on colonizing mars or just going to mars at all

00:32:45.780 yeah we're going to mars yeah now during that i i kind of chipped in at the end that i thought

00:32:51.860 venus was a better was a better option and and you made that face okay next next one there we go you

00:32:59.060 made that face and the mere suggestion it's a sacrilege this is blasphemy is by far the superior

00:33:07.860 option and then in this in this segment i'm going to explain to everyone why it is just manifestly a

00:33:13.220 better option than going to mars is a hell planet though yes i mean it's just that it's just the time

00:33:19.620 this is the time uh frames involved well it's i know i'm it's like honestly okay in hundreds of

00:33:27.060 years okay give me 15 minutes and i will convince you before i go to that uh we are hiring at the

00:33:32.020 moment we are looking for um somebody to come and join the team so if you would like to come and work

00:33:37.540 with us which is unfortunately in swindon um then you can do so right back to the presentation

00:33:43.060 uh let's go down to what the point that um beau was making about um you know uh here we go yeah

00:33:49.700 next one down this is this is just a there we go so so this is why venus is a tiny bit unpleasant

00:33:56.660 so um the temperature on the surface of it is about 500 degrees so it's way hotter than an oven

00:34:03.780 oh considerably hotter than in fact it's at the point that if you put if you put a nuclear submarine on

00:34:08.340 the on the surface of venus it would melt but have you considered one good thing what you don't need

00:34:14.420 so much time to spend to the kitchen well there is that yes there is that also crushing pressure

00:34:20.260 atmosphere so it's the equivalent standing on the surface of venus is the equivalent to being 3 000

00:34:25.620 feet underwater so so without nuclear submarine that is if i mean if it's a modern one it's right at

00:34:31.700 the top end of its range of its of its crush depth but if you were to take you know a world war

00:34:36.660 two submarine it would just be crushed so if you took a human you would end up as a tiny cinder

00:34:41.940 well you'd immediately turn into a small blackened cinder well there's there's multiple things that

00:34:46.580 will kill you the temperature will cool you the pressure will kill you um the toxic atmosphere

00:34:51.300 so it's it's mainly carbon dioxide but there's still lots of sulfuric acid so you would dissolve

00:34:55.780 and it rains sulfuric acid very very strong sulfuric yes well not just that i mean another small

00:35:01.380 factor i feel silly throwing this one in but the uh the day on venus is longer than its year

00:35:05.700 because it rotates so slowly no water or volcanoes that's another good one um in fact

00:35:10.660 it's linked to the last point there's no tectonic plates on venus so instead all that pressure is

00:35:14.980 just released through volcanoes it's constantly raining molten metal so basically what i'm getting

00:35:20.580 at is not the sort of place you want to take the dog for a walk the scariest environment imaginable

00:35:24.260 that's what yes but what if you show grace under pressure it doesn't matter it doesn't matter that

00:35:29.460 you know it's so much you you have to have a lot of grace it's not for everyone and also you can

00:35:34.260 have your it's not for everyone yes you're a contra volcanic umbrella well the only upside is

00:35:41.220 there is lots and lots of lightning there as well so at least if you did take the dog for a walk on

00:35:45.940 venus while you're being crushed cooked dissolved and having molten metal splashed on you you would be

00:35:53.060 able to watch the pretty lightning storms on your way out so so anyway so yes i can see why you made

00:36:00.980 the skeptical face however next slide here we go jeffrey a landis of nasa's research center points

00:36:11.780 out quite correctly um that however viewed in a different way the problem with venus is merely that

00:36:17.060 the ground level is too far below the one atmospheric level at cloud top level venus is in

00:36:22.420 fact a paradise planet and this is the point this is the this is the false assumption that everybody

00:36:27.140 makes with venus is they always assume you have to go down to the surface and you don't all right you

00:36:33.060 you simply don't need to but those clouds aren't water vapor they're not our clouds it's not like that

00:36:38.100 image it's not no no they're clouds of acid no no no it's it's mainly carbon dioxide there is there

00:36:44.580 is a little bit of acid there but that yeah but that's not as much as a problem you think especially

00:36:49.460 the cloud top level and actually that acid being there is a good thing right because so it's sulfuric

00:36:56.260 acid okay so you can crack sulfuric acid into water and sulfur trioxide if you've got water well obviously

00:37:07.060 that's useful because you can drink it but you can crack that further into oxygen which you can breathe

00:37:10.820 and hydrogen which you can use as rocket fuel so it gives you everything that you want and the thing

00:37:15.860 about the floating around is you don't even need to get that clever with it because carbon dioxide has

00:37:21.380 a a molecular weight of 44 whereas a oxygen nitrogen atmosphere that we're breathing now has a molecular

00:37:28.900 weight in the like high 30 uh high 20s so you can just have a big dome with a normal atmosphere inside

00:37:35.860 it at standard pressure and the bloody thing floats about 30 miles up 50 kilometers up

00:37:42.420 aren't you failing to take into account the gravity of venus we it's slightly lower than earth yeah yeah

00:37:48.260 it's very similar to earth yeah so there's still gravity it's still pulling you down yes but but a

00:37:52.660 normal oxygen nitrogen container container container on on venus has the same lifting powers about 60 of

00:37:59.940 helium does on earth right because the molecular weight of carbon dioxide is that much higher than

00:38:06.020 an oxygen nitrogen atmosphere i think you're selling it to me yes i would like to go there

00:38:12.660 i would love to go i'm not saying it's impossible i'm not saying that oh it's it's more than possible

00:38:17.940 i mean it's in fact in fact let's um let's go to the video i'm just saying the engineering involved

00:38:22.820 it's no it's not that it's not that difficult is a normal a normal blimp filled with air in fact you

00:38:28.420 could even use hydrogen on on um venus because the reason you don't use hydrogen on earth i mean

00:38:33.780 you'll know this you don't use hydrogen in blimps because of what was that was that the hindenburg

00:38:38.900 yeah it all blew up but because because it's not an oxygen atmosphere you can use hydrogen as a

00:38:43.940 lifting gas if you want ridiculous amount of lift for whatever reason say you wanted to make your

00:38:47.620 floating city you wanted to put a lot of stuff in it you could still use hydrogen

00:38:51.140 hydrogen and it's it wouldn't be explosive it does need to be corrosive proof and even at higher

00:38:57.460 higher altitude it would still be very hot no no it's like it's like what over 400 degrees at the

00:39:03.620 surface but even high up it's venus is much closer to the sun of course 30 with a runaway 31 miles up

00:39:12.660 which is the which is the goldilocks zone it's equivalent to being on a very warm place on this on

00:39:17.780 this planet be like the equivalent of being in nevada or something sounds heavenly heaven is a

00:39:23.780 place of venus can we can we play the video samson there's a there's a video in the document um put

00:39:28.660 together by nasa no i i the link yeah there we go no no no not that one not that one go back the way

00:39:34.580 to explore venus but it's supposed to be time stamped so go to go about two-thirds of the way along

00:39:39.540 all right there we go yeah start start from there or something right this is this is a nasa video

00:39:46.660 where they've talked about their um supposed plans for going there see it's just also floating around

00:39:59.700 they're going to do a little bit of getting there boring you know there's a there's that runaway

00:40:05.220 greenhouse effect on venus it's like there's 100 cloud cover yeah 100 on venus um with those

00:40:14.820 sulfurous yellow clouds it will not look white and blue like that it's just i don't care what

00:40:21.780 altitude you're at no no go go forward are you gonna have the the thing where i can sleep inside

00:40:27.140 and wake up go to that go to that lump at the end samson go to the lump at the end there we go

00:40:31.620 right go there well there you go so that's what it's like you've got your floating you're a little

00:40:35.380 floating city what you don't believe nasa so i don't believe that artist's impression no

00:40:44.900 let me get it let me get it straight essentially saying we want a zeppelin to fly from earth to venus

00:40:51.380 and people live within the zap you wouldn't fly from earth to venus on the zeppelin but you would live

00:40:56.580 in some sort of cloud city when you got there anyway let's go down on the presentation now to the next

00:41:00.180 one so i want to make i want to do a comparison between incel mars and chad v so right mars on the

00:41:09.220 left hand side first of all you get space cancer well i mean that's that's quite a big unless you

00:41:15.780 guard against it in all sorts of ways yeah but yeah by not going outside whereas on venus the atmosphere

00:41:21.940 even even at 30 miles up there's still enough atmosphere above you to give you a cancer shield

00:41:25.380 right so if you have very annoying astronauts with you no you know all the based people would

00:41:32.020 go to venus okay so not going outside on mars but there's open air observation decks on your

00:41:37.620 floating venus yes yes i'm coming to all this so first of all mars you get space cancer venus you don't

00:41:44.420 mars explosive decompression so you get a

00:41:47.540 you get a screwdriver size hole in your habitat in mars and you know what you say well you don't

00:41:55.300 say anything because you've just died mars is just for karens who want to decompress yes on venus right 0.95

00:42:01.860 you know i talked about having those those big domes those zeppelins because it's all at one standard

00:42:07.140 earth pressure 30 miles up if you get a screwdriver size hole in your in your zeppelin or your balloon

00:42:13.380 supports for your city you know what you do you go oh i'll add that to the uh work maintenance for

00:42:18.580 tomorrow and somebody just goes because because it's the same pressure inside and outside it's just

00:42:23.540 a different composite you just get the normal gaseous exchange it's only the completely poisonous

00:42:28.980 sulfurous air that comes in and sulfuric acid only that that only comes on periodically i will

00:42:33.780 come to that point don't you worry right third point solar panels on mars operate at 40

00:42:39.540 percent solar panels and venus operate at 200 percent no they don't because there's pure cloud

00:42:44.900 cover even 30 miles up no wait no wait even 30 miles up you're not above the atmosphere though

00:42:50.580 you're still within no i took that into account okay i took it into account it's 200 you're like

00:42:55.380 trump who is constantly getting fact check yes but wrongly at 31 miles up they operate at 200 capacity

00:43:02.500 if you actually stuck them out in bloody space or something you'd be way beyond that right okay that's

00:43:06.420 all right um mars on in cell mars you need bulky suits outside and in venus you just need a hawaiian

00:43:12.740 shirt that's sulfuric acid proof oh for god what it doesn't rain every day it's it's a lot though i

00:43:20.020 mean it's the it's the uh the like the actual atmosphere itself is like viscous it will be you don't

00:43:27.220 have to it's not right it doesn't it doesn't have to be raining like our rain it like the atmosphere

00:43:32.020 itself is yeah we're not we're not in the thing remember i keep saying this 31 miles up where the

00:43:37.700 atmospheric density is the same as earth right and and rain at that point is is much much less

00:43:45.620 frequent you're talking about lower down so right so you're on mars you've got your bulky suit and i've

00:43:50.100 got my hawaiian shirt right second like whatever not saying like fifth or like dust storms so even

00:43:55.620 though you've only got solar panels at 40 percent you've got dust storms that block out your sunlight

00:44:00.260 and i've got energy reliable energy generation right in cell mars gravity at 38 so you're going

00:44:08.100 to be there getting all your muscle atrophy and your bone atrophy and i'm going to be like on 90

00:44:14.340 gravity i'm going to be fine i'm going to be buff right next point water now both of these extracting

00:44:20.580 water is a bit energy intensive but you've got to do it from ice which you've got to find and then

00:44:25.380 you've got to crack it but you haven't got much energy because your solar panels are running low

00:44:28.740 and you've got your dust storms whereas on chad venus i can just extract um water from the sulfur

00:44:35.220 acid like i say water and um sulfur trioxide which is energy intensive but i've got loads of energy so

00:44:41.700 i'm fine last point in order to get to mars it's an eight month trip every two years whereas getting

00:44:48.900 to venus is a four month trip and you can do it every 1.5 years that's excellent that's a very good

00:44:55.620 argument yes you talk about um chads and incels i mean famously mars is a masculine thing and venus

00:45:03.460 is a womanly thing i mean the women are this is how it has been presented by the racist scientific

00:45:13.780 next slide so i've done a artist impression of of bo and dan going off on their colony missions right now

00:45:20.420 on the left right you're on mars and you can't see it because they're all wearing bulky suits but

00:45:25.940 they've all got cancer but being a total explorer chad uber chad explorer risking his life life and

00:45:31.540 limb with cancer and you're being a complete right and that guy that guy is just collapsed in the dirt

00:45:36.980 because he's just had a radio message to hear that his wife and kids have been killed in explosive

00:45:41.140 decompression right and now the dust cloud is coming over the top whereas this guy over here he's just

00:45:46.900 enjoying cocktails seems like an adrenaline junkie he seems to me the kind of guy who should be on mars

00:45:53.780 he looks like a weakling yeah he can't but he's not because i mean guy on the left mars mission

00:45:59.540 badass on the right this guy can't even do 20 push up this guy over here is on 90 gravity he could spank 0.87

00:46:06.340 these guys over here on 38 gravity yeah but that i mean that's rigged it's not rigged it's the bloody

00:46:13.140 gravity you can't rig the gravity that's fine right so i'll tell you what's going to happen

00:46:18.260 right in a few years time when we go off on our missions i'm going to be there on my cloud city

00:46:24.100 in venus and i'm going to i'm going to message you i'm going to i'm going to be on my cloud city i'm

00:46:28.820 going to walk past the hydroponic bays i'm going to have my nice grass-fed steak then i'm going to go

00:46:33.460 and get a lap dance i'm going to be sat there with candy on my knee video chat you and say bo how you

00:46:38.180 doing mate you you you're doing all right yeah but and you know what you're going to say when you

00:46:42.260 get the message well you're not going to say anything because you've had a dust storm right

00:46:46.580 and then and then for a week after that you're going to be cleaning the dust off your

00:46:50.740 i'll be solar panels i'm surviving like a a badass but dan there's a form of collegiality and

00:46:56.660 fraternity on mars that isn't in venus because this lady there with with a nice shape she's trying to 1.00

00:47:03.540 get him be killed he's standing there he's about to yeah it's down it's an ai generated image and

00:47:08.820 yeah and she wants to give him alcohol so he can lose his balance he it and he's gonna go down to 0.94

00:47:15.700 venus and he's gonna be in a much worse state than well that that well that is true but also of uh

00:47:21.220 banter aside yeah uh the engineering side of it um we could get a guy to mars relatively quickly or in

00:47:28.820 our lifetime you can get to venus quicker west with the best well you have to create a floating

00:47:34.020 city thing though you just need the engineering's not there not at the minute well it just it's not

00:47:40.100 that hard you just need a big balloon thing i mean we've had zeppelins for over 100 years

00:47:44.980 no and now the argument always used to be well it's fine and yes you can have a floating city on

00:47:51.780 venus but what are you going to do when you get there because if you if you go and colonize another

00:47:55.620 planet you want to mine stuff don't you you want you want to you want to do something when you're

00:47:59.620 there you can play cards well you can do that but you want you want to do you want to do a bit of

00:48:03.620 mining so you do want a bit of surface interaction but again on venus it's fine because because it

00:48:07.940 looks like it won't be long before we can have autonomous ai controlled robots so you can go down

00:48:12.500 to the the surface to mine you wouldn't send a human you just send machines and it doesn't need to

00:48:17.300 be cool enough for a human it just needs to be cool enough for a machine now the surface temperature

00:48:20.900 is still too high but you just create a um you know a ceramic composite dome and then you use um

00:48:27.700 cooling systems like the same sort of cooling systems we have on earth so i'm sure everybody

00:48:31.300 is perfectly well aware of how a fridge works but you've got the evaporator inside absorbing the heat

00:48:36.260 you've got a um a fluid that runs through it that goes to a compressor that takes the amount of heat

00:48:41.380 and basically scales it up so you've got so you've got a large amount of heat and then you take it to

00:48:45.940 a um a condenser or radiator on the outside and as long as your your um refrigerant fluid is hotter

00:48:52.740 than the outside and you could get this this fluid up to like i know a thousand degrees or more take it

00:48:57.700 to the outside the surface of venus and it's still hotter than the surface and then it cools and then

00:49:02.020 you repeat the cycle the only difference is is that on venus you wouldn't use like cfcs or whatever

00:49:07.140 they use hydrofluorine whatever that you use down here on earth you would use um i don't know silicon

00:49:13.220 oils or you'd use uh liquid metals like sodium or potassium and stuff but you could ship a lot

00:49:17.700 of heat out and make it cool enough under that dome for machines to work right so they do all

00:49:21.940 the work chad dude up here on the on the city he basically is like an overseer he just like you know

00:49:27.940 checks in with them every now and again and every time they make a new bucking bronco machine or

00:49:31.780 whatever it is they're making down there you attach it to a balloon up it floats you lean over

00:49:36.020 the side of your balcony with a hook get your new bucking bronco machine cool

00:49:45.300 right whilst in reality they've sent quite a few landers to venus and like one has one survived for

00:49:52.180 a couple of minutes yes because you yes because you're going down to the surface yeah i know i know

00:49:57.140 i know i get it again the reality is technically the again the engineering side of it

00:50:01.860 um you keep brushing it off but it would it would require a lot of zeppelin a lot of

00:50:09.060 yeah getting that to venus is you just say we'll just get a zeppelin to venus you will try getting

00:50:13.460 a try getting a bloody dome to mars i mean it's the same level of difficulty anyway next next slide

00:50:17.940 because i've got i've got loads more okay right so so this is when i this is when i started to get a

00:50:23.140 bit clever i thought oh what if what if we really did want to live on the surface right and this is what i

00:50:27.940 touched on last time so these are my maths just in case you want to check because basically the

00:50:31.060 weekend the wife and kids went off to a birthday party so i had a bit of time to myself so i i

00:50:34.740 got into the massive right next slide because i'll just i'll just bottom were you wearing a white robe

00:50:39.780 from a laboratory or something well i know i hadn't been to my clans meeting or anything but um

00:50:44.180 right so so full terraforming option within 100 years right so you've got to convert that co2 by adding

00:50:49.540 um hydrogen um how much hydrogen you need to add well it's a fair bit it's 84 quintillion kilograms

00:50:55.860 um and then i thought okay well how much how are you going to do that let's assume you can do a

00:51:00.260 shipment of a thousand tons of hydrogen at a time using a remote um ai controlled drone ship right

00:51:08.340 okay with me so far i mean none of this i mean that's a massive assumption but go ahead well i

00:51:12.660 mean this this this bit is in the future i mean the cloud cities you could probably do that in the

00:51:16.900 next hundred years but this one is a little bit in the future right uh you could make two and a

00:51:20.900 half trips to jupiter and and venus and back so how many ai controlled drone ships do you need

00:51:27.700 well you need 336 billion of them i will admit that's a big number would that require more material

00:51:35.940 than the earth has got no i i i got there right you might think that's a big number but as long as

00:51:42.340 as long as your ai drone ship thing right has in situ manufacturing so basically 3d printing and

00:51:49.940 a more advanced form of that then it can replicate itself by just going to the asteroid belt where you

00:51:55.780 got all the materials you need and if it can double itself and then that generation to double itself

00:52:00.660 it's only 38 doublings required to get there so if it's safe if it takes three months for example for

00:52:07.220 it to double itself you can have the whole fleet in nine years and you only need to use 672 trillion

00:52:15.620 tons of materials or 0.0224 of the total mass of the asteroid belt right and then you can colonize venus

00:52:25.460 you can collapse that atmosphere down to water okay honestly the maths check out okay i checked it

00:52:32.420 okay but how are you not amazing you could colonize venus okay yeah but not in our lifetimes

00:52:40.740 well not in our lifetime not even close right i mean when you represent something as 0.0224

00:52:46.660 of the entire asteroid belt i mean it sounds like a really small amount if you represent it in that

00:52:51.220 in those numbers but you're talking about one of the biggest in fact you're talking about the biggest

00:52:55.460 engineering project ever undertaken by humanity by some by orders of magnitude so that's what you're

00:53:01.780 talking about we we will need to scale up the tech in one or two places right thanks for conceding

00:53:08.420 that right and then that is what venus looks like after you've you've converted the atmosphere into

00:53:13.540 water yeah we actually know what it will look like um interestingly that bit on the left looks

00:53:20.500 a bit like westeros with a bit of extra water and that bit looks like easteros it looks like a crab

00:53:25.380 upside down could be that um can we play the can we play the second video from the time stamp

00:53:31.060 hopefully that i included there we go yeah so so this is um uh this is what it would actually look

00:53:37.700 like because again you know you can you can look at the topography and you can work this out terraforming

00:53:43.140 planets is an incredible well thing isn't it it's an incredible idea yes it's just a long time in our

00:53:48.980 future yeah i'm glad you said that actually because that brought me on to my second idea

00:53:54.420 as to why you could do it but actually wouldn't because let's go back to the presentation because

00:54:00.900 you're right there's a lot of materials used and actually there's a better there's a better

00:54:04.980 source for them so let's go down let's go down do you know what an o'neill cylinder is

00:54:11.300 uh yeah it's like um rendezvous with rama there's that great thing rendezvous with rama have you ever

00:54:16.900 arthur c clark it's one of those that one yeah basically a big rotating habitat yeah and the

00:54:22.500 reason why these these are going to be the future of the humanity is because if you think about it

00:54:26.260 a sphere like a planet is the lowest possible amount of surface area for a given quantity of mass

00:54:32.180 whereas a cylinder is very close to the opposite of that the greatest possible amount of surface area

00:54:37.140 for the for the minimum possible amount of mass so then i thought okay what happens if

00:54:42.100 instead of using all that material to crack the atmosphere on venus we used it to make o'neill

00:54:49.620 cylinders all right that's in the end of the interstellar that's where i think he's found in a

00:54:58.340 cylinder or something okay i think both we need to meet halfway because beau says all this is noble i

00:55:06.660 think it is but it's not in our lifetime but i think you could do another segment telling us about

00:55:12.500 the elixir of youth because i want to experience this i've got i've got a little bit more on this

00:55:17.940 right because these are these cylinders they're about three and a half times the size of swindon

00:55:23.700 you could get three and a half swindons into these things yeah but i they have to be more aesthetic

00:55:27.940 because otherwise i'm just jumping the void well you can style them however you like there's a brilliant

00:55:33.540 novel called rendezvous with rama bath where they they one flies close to earth and some humans

00:55:39.940 go on an alien one yeah but my point my point is you were correct let's go to the next slide

00:55:45.300 you are correct that for the amount of effort that you need to put into collapsing the atmosphere on

00:55:50.740 venus you can we go to the next slide is he is he still there there we go so if you use that amount of

00:55:56.020 materials to make cylinders you get 67 million of those cylinders providing 117 times more the amount

00:56:04.100 of habitable space and you provide enough living space for 84 trillion people right

00:56:13.940 what's the end game of that what's the aim of that again well to go to to explore the the galaxy so i

00:56:20.180 think no that's that's well they can do whatever they want i mean they can okay that's just living

00:56:24.500 space just chilling yes right next slide right then i went full retard right next slide never go yeah 0.79

00:56:35.460 never so on on this one i decided okay why don't we just scale up why don't we just take

00:56:40.500 all of the mass of the entire solar system and convert it into space habitats

00:56:46.500 right with me okay i've decided to leave out the earth for sentimental reasons all right and also

00:56:54.500 the sun and the gas giants but everything else we convert and i've only assumed that 0.68 percent

00:56:59.060 of it is usable it took me a while to get that number right you can then create six trillion o'neill

00:57:05.540 cylinders which is 10 million times the surface area of the earth so the the i guess the broad point i'm

00:57:13.140 making is when you watch sci-fi stuff they always make i think some false assumptions they always

00:57:18.340 assume that you can travel faster than light and go to other systems you probably can't we're probably

00:57:22.100 going to be trapped in the solar system forever but actually the amount of population that this

00:57:28.020 solar system could support is vast absolutely vast right in fact it comes out of 7.5 quintillion

00:57:34.820 people and i'll just round this off you go to the next one the implications of 75 quintillion people

00:57:41.220 and this this is this is probably a few thousand years down the line i'll grant you that if you

00:57:46.100 had a population of 7.5 quintillion people um you would have at any one time about 230 trillion

00:57:52.660 people with an iq over 160 and even if you assume that somebody like elon musk is once once a generation

00:57:58.340 on earth you'd have a billion of them at a time in this scenario imagine the gdp with 7.5 quintillion

00:58:05.460 people well that was that was that was going to be my closing point you see because right let's say you

00:58:09.620 have a niche band on earth that sells 500 albums that's quite a small band isn't it it's quite niche

00:58:16.260 but if you scale it up to this level you would sell 500 billion albums and make nine trillion

00:58:24.180 this i think is the future of humanity space habitats it's in the meantime we go via cloud

00:58:31.620 cities on chad cloud cities on venus not incel colonies on mars where you get space cancer

00:58:37.540 but anyway that that's that's that's the vision for the the far humanity so have i convinced you

00:58:42.980 bow uh given a given a big enough time frame i'm sure we could get to venus but in the short term venus

00:58:50.180 is better eh uh in the short term yes what do you reckon stellius where do you want to go do you want

00:58:57.140 to go to chad venus or 38 percent keep representing it as an earth skyscape with white clouds and a blue

00:59:05.620 sky it's just it that's not what it is it's just not what it is where can i where okay where can i have

00:59:12.100 the best fun the most fun venus it's it's got pole dancing even if you're 31 miles up you're still

00:59:19.860 underneath a cloud cover there would still be a lot there would still be cloud cover above you

00:59:25.540 yeah so you just that's why you don't get cancer so you just be you'd look out and you wouldn't see

00:59:31.060 like nice white clouds it would just be like a yellowy fog right which is which is much nicer than

00:59:40.740 dust storms on mars some vistas on mars are breathtaking the chat says why don't we go to both

00:59:47.460 yeah if you can terraform venus then maybe we can terraform mars if you've got the ability to make

00:59:54.500 trillions of o'neill cylinders can't we get mars spinning well yeah so this is the point thing is

01:00:02.260 you can terraform just about anything but the energy required to do so you're just better off building

01:00:07.860 space habitats because you can have way way more of them it's better i feel like we can get beyond

01:00:14.100 the solar system even if it is only to the closest stars we could get sort of alpha centura

01:00:19.540 eventually so i i could do another segment at some point on how you colonize the galaxy but it's not

01:00:25.700 how you think it is it's not it's not colony ship with probes basically hang on i've got to read the

01:00:31.380 these rumble chats right that's a random name says also once we get to the tech to mine asteroids we'll be

01:00:36.820 able to build a bunch of those ring-shaped stations um yeah orbitals um through the solar system to act as

01:00:42.820 pit stops uh between planets mars still sucks though yeah yeah mars is mars is a bad option

01:00:48.180 um the last russian says stelios is right this is the end of interstellar love that film by the way

01:00:52.740 go watch it uh guys my favorite film tied with v for vendetta uh yes very good um threadnaught

01:00:59.380 dan is promoting the gray goo nanobots will dismantle the entire universe that is a possible 0.79

01:01:03.700 downside i will give you that um that's a random name says um mars is also a long way away venus is

01:01:10.340 closer uh we can we can go to venus twice a year the logistics are better yes correct uh dan talks

01:01:17.700 about venus as being a paradise by 2022 like the indians talk about india being a superpower by 2030 0.82

01:01:26.340 possibly um that's a random name says uh the rains on venus aren't even an issue since we can have those

01:01:32.260 mobile floating cities um which uh which will just avoid the cloud the storms also they can use nuclear

01:01:39.700 reactors and thermal energies and power themselves venus for the wind the chat is all over the venus

01:01:44.260 thing um it's like deaf standing don't go outside when it rains but you'll be fine when it's dry 0.89

01:01:49.460 well my wife acts like it's acid rain on this planet she starts flapping around and runs inside and stuff 1.00

01:01:56.260 so it would just be for me it would just be the same um beau breathing acid is going to take some

01:02:02.180 getting used to for sure but you're british you faced hotter fires than a thousand degree atmosphere for

01:02:07.140 some time yes well especially if you watch the news and then finally dan's talking about space

01:02:12.260 exploration where's callum where you need him yes well i mean he he he does believe nasa a bit too

01:02:18.020 much i think but uh but uh yes uh and oh and somebody says uh terraforming is more fun though

01:02:24.420 all right there we go there is the sort of very selfish sort of self-involved view that i i want to see it

01:02:30.980 myself you know i think one of the most gutting things about looking into the future the deep

01:02:36.420 future is that you never get to see it right i'd love to see floating uh cities on venus but i'm not

01:02:44.820 going to get so so so basic floating cities are achievable in our lifetimes it's just a zeppelin

01:02:50.980 okay okay we can do it all right can you scroll down on the document so i can see my bit okay

01:03:04.820 uh so from dan's wildly unfeasible mission to venus coming back to which is totally gonna happen

01:03:11.300 coming back to uh come back to reality oh there goes gravity we're gonna talk about an actual an

01:03:20.740 actual possible mission in the very near future and i will show you my workings by the way if you

01:03:25.060 challenge to you yes um to the one of the moons of jupiter europa now this is all bound up in uh the

01:03:34.020 search for life because that's one of uh humanity's biggest sort of chips on our shoulder really isn't

01:03:40.340 it all caught the constant search for life one of the big things about various space telescopes

01:03:45.220 we put up is a search for for life even the james webb space telescope one of the instruments on that

01:03:51.060 is to try and find signatures in exoplanets see if there's life and whenever we go when it looks like

01:03:57.140 the moon is truly sterile but you never know but going to going to other planets on mars they keep

01:04:03.300 constantly trying to search i think eventually we will find either microbial life or evidence of ancient

01:04:09.380 microbial life on mars i think we probably will but what about actual living things well as far as

01:04:16.340 i'm aware there's two good candidates titan and europa uh enceladus in europa uh titan well maybe

01:04:23.700 maybe on titan probably uh what is it methane yeah there's large single-celled organisms yeah there's

01:04:31.140 lakes or oceans of methane yeah titan yeah yeah so a couple of good spots are enceladus which is a moon of

01:04:38.500 saturn and europa which is a moon of jupiter and i'm particularly interested in europa personally

01:04:46.500 um so we've actually gone out to the gas giants only a few times ever voyages couple of voyages

01:04:53.620 there's a galileo mission uh the cassini huygens mission not too long ago sort of left in the very

01:04:59.140 late 90s and got out there in the early 2000s yeah i mean a bit far so like we've only flown past

01:05:04.900 sort of jupiter and uranus a couple of times ever or neptune i think once ever anyway we still know

01:05:13.140 very little really about the the outermost planets you know there was new horizons that flew by pluto

01:05:19.620 not too long ago we got some very good images of that but um we still don't know as much as perhaps

01:05:26.180 some people might think about the the outer planets anyway the idea of finding actual life

01:05:33.220 perhaps even bigger than microbial life it looks like enceladus or europa are going to be our best

01:05:39.220 bets because we you say titan we did land there was a landing on titan if you can play that cassini

01:05:45.540 huygens link we sent a mission out the cassini mission it was the first there you go if you play

01:05:51.540 that this is actual footage from the huygens lander that's you don't need the audio that's

01:05:57.220 the surface of titan um one of the moons one of the bigger moons of saturn because the atmosphere

01:06:03.700 is thick enough and the gravity is low enough that you could equip yourself with a pair of wings and

01:06:08.180 literally fly because of the combination of the the thick atmosphere and low gravity isn't that

01:06:13.780 remarkable though that's the actual footage of one of the moons of it's saturn it's also the only other

01:06:19.700 place in the solar system where you could have a barbecue yeah it's a terribly inhospitable place

01:06:25.620 you wouldn't want to be out there that's the shadow of the uh drogue the massive parachute helped

01:06:31.700 it land that's that so it's actual real footage incredible really i think that's one of the most

01:06:36.340 incredible things among the most incredible things humanity's ever achieved is that huygens lander

01:06:42.740 but most people don't know much about it it was like 2005 i think it was so quite a while ago now

01:06:46.980 um but when um cassini flew in the saturn system they saw that on enceladus enceladus is like a

01:06:54.820 um an ice world or moon i've got a clip or two of uh or images of of enceladus um if you could put

01:07:04.580 those up and you can see on that's enceladus and you can see there's a couple of images where you can

01:07:09.460 you see those plumes those ice they're like uh cryo volcanoes not actually volcanoes but like cryo

01:07:17.700 geysers it's a cold place oh yeah yeah and what that tells us is that sort of tidal forces inside the

01:07:26.020 moon are sort of stretching and crushing it a bit keeping the inside of it warm warm enough that there's a an

01:07:35.060 ocean of water underneath the ice as it's orbiting its main planet it's getting warped slightly and

01:07:40.660 creating a kneading effect inside that then creates pressure so it's it's orbit is uh oval shaped or um

01:07:49.060 um yeah um what's the actual proper word for it an ellipsis or something yeah um

01:07:56.580 uh so we know that this is sort of um underneath the ice on enceladus it is a dynamic ocean it seems

01:08:08.900 and it could be that there are there are creatures there sort of aquatic creatures

01:08:15.060 under there but focused around deep sea vents yeah and we have that on earth we have we have little

01:08:21.700 little pockets of life that only exist around deep sea vents there's not necessarily any reason why

01:08:26.740 they shouldn't be on europa as well i've got a link samson's probably one of the youtube links

01:08:30.900 it shows some hydrothermal vents yeah we used to think that things just simply couldn't exist without

01:08:36.500 the sun uh but um they can on hydrothermal vents if you play that you don't need the audio

01:08:45.060 um because it'll be sort of superheated water yeah and also very very mineral rich extremely

01:08:51.380 mineral rich and so around these hydrothermal vents on earth at the bottom of earth oceans

01:08:57.860 sometimes they're absolutely teeming with life it's not just a bit of bacteria or a bit of algae

01:09:03.060 but sometimes there's this sort of whole um food webs of all different animals all living around these

01:09:10.340 hydrothermal vents and they've never seen the sun they've never had any energy from the sun

01:09:14.820 whatsoever so if that can happen on earth it's possible that at the bottom of the

01:09:20.980 oceans on enceladus or europa that a similar thing happens because europa's orbit around

01:09:28.100 jupiter is even more extreme than enceladus so it's really sort of crushed and needed

01:09:34.500 basically a large amount of energy is being

01:09:37.140 put into the to the sub ice ocean meaning you're a liquid ocean under a sheet of ice

01:09:42.900 so the ice is protecting it from jupiter's radiation so it's quite possible that there is a

01:09:48.260 actual aliens actual aliens could be that in the oceans of enceladus and europa there are

01:09:54.900 sea creatures whether they're whether it's tiny sort of

01:09:57.780 algae things or whether it's sort of krill or whether it's big fish jellies whatever alien versions

01:10:03.140 yeah or giant whales might be things bigger than blue whales yeah

01:10:06.980 jaja binks or something i mean it's it's probably going to be alien krill though isn't it it might

01:10:11.540 be like tube worms it's i mean it might be like that it's probably not going to be like the gray

01:10:16.020 alien with a snorkel which would be cool it's going to be yeah like a crab or something yeah it's likely

01:10:22.180 to be yeah something that looks either just like tube worms or something but even if we find merely

01:10:27.860 sort of algae or something or single-celled organisms that's still life yeah well and one

01:10:33.380 of the reasons it's so wildly significant is because if we can find two independent examples of life

01:10:39.540 in our own solar system it dramatically changes the calculus it suggests the amount of life that you can

01:10:45.460 expect to find in the galaxy as a whole yeah it suggests that the the galaxy and universe is full of

01:10:51.700 life especially if you find it on enceladus um titan and um europa if you find it on all three

01:10:59.860 then almost certainly the entire galaxy is just full of life yeah yeah yeah

01:11:04.660 two can't be a coincidence

01:11:07.460 it's a pattern well they when um cassini flew through it did a low pass on enceladus and it flew through

01:11:15.780 the very tops of those plumes and it was able to sort of taste them and test test the molecules

01:11:22.980 there and it showed sort of the building blocks of life hydrocarbons yeah yeah various things um

01:11:30.180 so it's it's absolutely possible so the idea of actually going it's actually much harder and much

01:11:35.540 more expensive to go to to put a lander or a probe on enceladus than it is to europa

01:11:41.140 so we're going to go to europa first i mean it's much closer jupiter is much closer are they though

01:11:46.980 because nasa did fly a mission around um i can't remember it was enceladus or europa but they

01:11:52.260 deliberately made sure that the the there was no risk of the of the spacecraft landing down and the

01:11:58.820 reason they didn't want to do that is just in case there was any microbes on it because they didn't

01:12:02.980 want to contaminate the planet because they had ethical concerns about adding foreign microbes to

01:12:08.020 an alien planet so if they're going to go to these two planets they need to get over their concern

01:12:12.980 about possibly adding microbes i don't know maybe they just scrub the thing really hard i mean we've

01:12:17.460 put loads of landers on mars and they are very careful they try to be as careful as they possibly

01:12:21.780 can with exactly that yeah yeah it's really hypersensitive enceladus in europa yeah quite possibly

01:12:27.380 yeah you know they're definitely aware of that yeah definitely worth that am i supposed to show the

01:12:31.780 islander in the middle of the segment by islander it's well good um okay so going to europa if if

01:12:39.460 you end up in a dust storm on mars you're going to need something to read yeah right why not islander

01:12:46.260 you can buy it uh lotus eaters.com yes forward slash islander too um okay um on europa there's some

01:12:54.500 pictures of europa if we put up a couple of pictures of europa so oh that's io so that's the closest one

01:12:59.860 that's the closest moon to uh jupiter and i mentioned venus being some sort of hellscape

01:13:06.180 io is is way worse io i actually think it's one of the worst places with solid ground that you 0.68

01:13:11.700 could stand on is one of the most it's actually like hell i imagine stupid amounts of space

01:13:18.340 cancer why is it oh yeah yeah pure space cancer why is it so bad because for me because it's really 0.79

01:13:23.220 close to jupiter yeah no but what is it that bad about it because for me what hell hole and planet

01:13:29.220 is like in the chronicles of riddick where they have the crematorium you know with vin diesel who

01:13:33.780 was trying to escape and it was a plan i've never watched vin diesel film sorry i don't know i'm not

01:13:38.180 joking i don't know i haven't seen that no it's just it had 700 degrees you you were you were in them

01:13:44.100 as a stunt double yeah but i had to go on a cut before i could play vin is it pressure is it uh

01:13:52.820 the atmosphere is it um tons of radiation from jupiter is the main thing and again that it's

01:13:59.060 being stretched and crushed so there's loads of volcanism it's just it's absolutely peppered with

01:14:03.460 volcanoes and um yeah the radiation is just uh off my head off the just by it like the charts yeah

01:14:10.340 five heads yeah yeah yeah um uh but then the next one out is is europa and as i say it's a very

01:14:17.780 elliptical orbit um well that's ganymede ganymede's the biggest moon is that that's ganymede it's very

01:14:25.220 similar to our moon you've got a lot bigger even than our moon ganymede um and then um anyway let's

01:14:31.860 skip forward to um that's not it no that's not getting made that's the next one out um try the next

01:14:39.140 one there we go there we go that's europa so one of the it is yeah one of the things about europa

01:14:44.100 is that it's relatively speaking there's very few craters on it very very few which says which

01:14:51.220 suggests along with all the stress fractures of all the ice says that it sort of remakes its own

01:14:56.260 outer ice crust relatively quickly in sort of astronomical terms anyway um so again and we've

01:15:04.420 seen little plumes not as big as the ones on enceladus but again they can they can infer or

01:15:09.060 they're pretty sure pretty confident that there's um a dynamic core to it and that there's oceans

01:15:16.100 under it and when it's a whole moon um europe is about the size of our moon i believe maybe a touch

01:15:22.420 smaller um so because it's the whole surface there's more volume of water there than all of earth's oceans

01:15:28.900 a lot more a few times more so in other words a giant giant ocean and the ice they think is anywhere

01:15:35.940 between four five six kilometers maybe as much as 18 20 kilometers thick but then all the way

01:15:42.740 down to a relatively small core is i mean that's that's a good thing because it is quite it is quite

01:15:47.220 close to jupiter so you want some protection from the space cancer but under that you've got a liquid

01:15:51.780 ocean yeah of water yeah though because on other moons and other planets you might have oceans but

01:15:57.300 they might be other things like on titan there's oceans of methane liquid methane but it's it's h2o there

01:16:03.780 yeah and one thing we know about life on earth is that where there's well you need you need water

01:16:08.980 basically yes always need water so if there's water and there's heat and hopefully on the european

01:16:15.780 hydrothermal vents there'll also be various minerals that also life also requires but if that is the case

01:16:22.500 then there could there could potentially be creatures in those in those oceans so what about

01:16:29.380 going there we've flown past it a few times a few different times but we're sending another

01:16:34.660 probe it's not a lander but we're sending one next month europa clipper it's called um it's not is it

01:16:41.700 going to actually touch down no no it's not a lander right but it's going to do loads of close flyby's

01:16:46.660 but that's that's launching next month october october 2024 what did it take like 10 years to get

01:16:54.340 there uh six seven years right six seven years yeah um we have floating cities on venus by then

01:17:02.980 um um but then the next thing is of course is sending a lander yes and so that is a bit in the

01:17:10.260 future there's nasa have talked about it and things but um there's no immediate mission when you'll need a

01:17:15.300 big drill yeah so that's the thing so say we're able to land on it do you we want to get through

01:17:21.300 the ice which is miles thick do you drill down or do you just sort of have some sort of heat

01:17:28.420 thing that just melts its way through um so the one one idea is that you have basically sort of

01:17:34.740 a kind of torpedo thing with like uh with a very small nuclear submarine style nuclear nuclear reactor

01:17:41.220 thing and uh the the nose of it it gets very very hot and it just melts its way through the ice all

01:17:47.780 the way to the bottom and pops through and then there's like and then you could have a little

01:17:53.780 if you're unwilling to risk microbes ending up on the surface and then you just drop a dirty load of

01:18:02.180 plutonium that melts through the ice and drops in i mean that's a bit off isn't it just dump some

01:18:07.300 nuclear waste on you they do it on mars already though don't they like those big those rovers are

01:18:12.420 they have got sort of yeah but what what if there really are space whales on europa and and you drop

01:18:18.180 a whole bunch of plutonium waste on their head they're not gonna be happy about that are they

01:18:22.420 hopefully the the eggheads at nasa will factor that in i hope i don't know um so one of the last links

01:18:29.700 i've got there is uh i put it as animation let's just play this and watch you don't need the uh

01:18:34.660 don't need the um audio um so yeah we can just talk about this while we watch this because this

01:18:40.900 might be something similar to what we end up doing and i'm hoping it's in our lifetime i made a i i

01:18:47.780 appealed to elon last week didn't i i want spacex to just jump ahead of nasa and just get this done

01:18:54.100 first um mars is all well and good and i hope that happens in my lifetime i'd love to see a human

01:18:59.620 uh set for on mars is just overly focused on mars yeah there are better planets but it's possible

01:19:06.500 we could do a mission like this for you know a few billion dollars right so the jamesworth space

01:19:15.220 telescope cost in the order of 10 billion dollars which is a lot but you know twitter cost 44 billion

01:19:22.420 dollars right so um elon's got over 220 billion dollars so you could do you could maybe do a

01:19:30.660 mission like this for i don't know 5 10 20 billion dollars i've got no idea but you know it's not

01:19:35.220 going to break the bank of some people and organizations that exist in the world um and

01:19:41.700 because the potential payoff is that once the thing gets through to the ocean underneath

01:19:48.820 that the images it sends back sort of almost immediately confirm aliens space whales yeah

01:19:56.100 space whales yeah space krill space jellies um so yeah um and this is actually completely plausible

01:20:07.860 um we do have all the technology absolutely all the technology to do something like this uh right now

01:20:15.540 how would you send signals back would it be like a long cable i think there would have to be some

01:20:19.060 sort of cable to then it would freeze around it but i suppose as long as the cable was there that

01:20:22.980 you can see there's a cable thing there there would have to be some sort of transmitter on the surface

01:20:26.900 but look this moment this could be the greatest moment in human civilization that when it crushes

01:20:32.500 through possibly i mean we might get there might do all this and it turns out that the ocean is

01:20:37.780 completely sterile there's nothing there yeah it could be i mean that's a quite high possibility

01:20:42.260 actually but the possible rule and then you've got like a little unmanned submersible thing with

01:20:47.860 cameras on and all sorts of instruments um to go and uh explore um but yeah i just think this this

01:20:57.620 fires my imagination more than almost any other potential thing we that we'll do in our lifetime

01:21:05.140 like i said it's a ship we might well go to all the moons in our solar system we might you know end up

01:21:09.700 with an outpost on pluto or whole whole cities on pluto eventually but not in my lifetime none of us

01:21:15.940 alive no one watching this now we'll get to see that but this this is actually within the realms of

01:21:23.940 possibility today um to sort of engineer this and do this i've heard that it's much more possible that

01:21:31.060 we go to satellites rather than other planets in the solar system at least in the immediate future

01:21:35.860 do you think that's well yeah so you can't you don't land on jupiter or saturn or uranus or neptune

01:21:41.700 you don't no it's the moons yeah yeah at all costs um so yeah that's basically it mission to europa

01:21:52.260 um okay very good very good we've got comments yep so we have bald eagle 1787 so we're all in agreement

01:22:03.460 that the first three waves should consist of nothing but useless leftists that way earth is

01:22:08.660 more tolerable we have more time to refine space travel and get rid of leeches that's a random name 0.98

01:22:15.060 i commend any brave soul willing to embark on such a journey personally however i'm happy cheering them

01:22:20.980 on from the comfort of my earthly hope like the complacent hobbit that i am wink right video comments

01:22:29.460 we have radio comments yep time news 15 minute segments ad breaks unsatisfying

01:22:44.020 90 minutes no ads one-to-one interviews in depth round tables it's a yes from me

01:22:55.700 thank you very much very much sir yeah very much i mean yeah it's it's top tier content yes we're

01:23:03.620 better than mainstream media and you yeah yeah absolutely thank you and we're up front with our

01:23:08.500 biases right you don't you don't get space pole dancing in space whales on on gb news do you yeah

01:23:14.500 itn don't often talk about terraforming the entire service system all right let's go to the next one

01:23:21.620 hey congratulations on episode a thousand with both it and my birthday now passed i suppose the

01:23:28.980 shilling can commence i was planning on making a series of videos explaining all the details of my

01:23:33.780 game but frankly that's what the facebook page is for so for anyone interested uh please check us out

01:23:39.700 at csc pardon fourth dimension rpg on facebook or scan the qr code on the screen i promise there's a

01:23:47.220 lot more to share than it seems so far cool cool next one uh that's very wholesome

01:24:08.900 i love dogs so much same what is that what breed is that i'd like to know

01:24:12.340 oh so nice i love dogs so much and i hate people that don't like dogs so much texas gal

01:24:20.820 always sends us lovely stuff what's the point of cats let's go next one now a simp cat let's let's

01:24:27.700 play this oh you can light your fag off on any of those and so this little church next to us we used 0.87

01:24:34.340 to get american ghost hunters coming over because it was down the road from the barley rectory and they 0.79

01:24:38.340 got the roads are small country roads they get lost they'd turn up at our church and so we'd quite

01:24:42.820 often get a mysterious car turn up because we were right next to the church my dad would delight in

01:24:46.660 going out and sneaking up in the back of them and just knocking on the window and each time we did it 0.99

01:24:49.940 the car would just jump up like that you know i want them dead i want their families dead today 0.99

01:24:55.700 that's the thing what the dog's dead yeah dead dead dead um that's what sort of ended up doing 1.00

01:25:01.060 so trump isn't that though is he oh fuck is that i've got my fake i want to follow dead i want his 0.99

01:25:07.540 man wife dead today today yeah i'm doing de niro there by the way uh that's de niro as um out as um 0.99

01:25:19.220 al capone in the untouchables it's a great movie have you seen that you're a dude pretending to be a

01:25:24.580 dude pretending to be another let's yeah let's play this a friend bought me this book when i moved to

01:25:29.540 canada he inserted an inscription advising me to have a more positive outlook on life

01:25:34.260 well sorry mike i appreciate that everything is not but this book is it's a pointless and

01:25:40.500 tawdry read through a series of trite niceties that only an out-of-touch media type could compile

01:25:45.940 i was not surprised to find out that steve stack writes for the observer an online interview with him

01:25:51.380 revealed a link to a predictably vitriolic left-wing twitter account under a different name

01:25:55.780 i mean i'm just curious to see what is it exactly that was bad about it but now though you you said

01:26:05.060 that it's so bad oh this is one that always distracts me with the video play it here's another

01:26:10.340 of my industrial heroes george westinghouse 30 seconds ain't enough for this man but he was a

01:26:15.140 cartoonishly virtuous counterpart to thomas edison's famous cupidity and roll edison famously holds the

01:26:20.580 greatest number of patents to one name for seizing all of his employees patents for his own george

01:26:24.900 westinghouse is a close second and each and every one of them was his own this gives you an

01:26:28.420 understanding of the kind of mind that mr westinghouse had but unfortunately he made the

01:26:31.940 mistake of dying before edison and much like newton edison set out to destroy the legacy of any one of

01:26:36.980 his contemporaries which is why we now remember his name and westinghouse's legacy and his once

01:26:41.460 remarkable company are now scattered to the four winds there was a fatal mistake that he died before

01:26:48.660 it all right yeah i'm exactly the same with that guy that was very interesting about westinghouse

01:26:53.140 but i want to know about that v8 he's working on i want to know how to do that stuff talk to me

01:26:58.020 about the cams like what's going to the eight should be revered i wish i'm not terror i'm not

01:27:04.180 absolutely terrible uh with stuff like that but i couldn't pull apart a v8 and put it back together

01:27:09.300 no way no way i'm envious of guys that can you would need it in a mad max universe

01:27:15.220 yeah let's see what mr cooper has to say yeah happy episode 1001 i missed out on my chance to

01:27:23.620 put the video comment into 1000th episode but oh well i've been too busy canvassing for the local

01:27:30.180 woollongong elections uh what okay and um i mean it's kind of working on my novel by the way

01:27:45.060 i mean it's kind of weird that a party would just miss the filing deadline

01:27:49.700 and just just saying one quick note about about novels you know like making videos you guys don't

01:27:55.140 actually do much on premiere pro that do you but it's always way more time consuming than you think

01:28:00.820 writing a novel is even it's crazy ah come on it's crazy how long it takes let's play this

01:28:08.260 the would-be assassin again someone's tried to murder donald trump not something i expected to see

01:28:13.380 i just wanted to say that it seems to me these people don't even perceive this violence as violence

01:28:20.500 as weird as it sounds i could go into it the point is they can't kill donald trump they failed twice

01:28:27.620 so the next best thing to do is voter intimidation on polling day and perhaps even political violence

01:28:34.260 at polling stations and it's been in the back of my mind for a while i hope it doesn't come down to it

01:28:41.700 but leftists are very much uh happy with just trivializing violence against their opponents one

01:28:48.260 they think they're doing they're on the right side of history they're doing the right thing

01:28:52.500 two you can't make it up mag dump the trump yeah three i suspect that will happen at some point

01:28:59.220 is um actual intimidation at polling stations again if you look at the decline and fall of

01:29:04.580 both the athenian democracy and the roman republic yeah that's exactly what you end up doing

01:29:09.860 you get gangs in and around the physical polling thing whatever that in whatever form that takes

01:29:15.380 right so samson i think we can take a few extra minutes to talk about comments yeah sure let's do

01:29:21.300 it excellent okay so george hap says something good for both of you love the astronomy segments the

01:29:27.940 island of the lotus eaters may very well be in space if we ever make a colony in europe i'm definitely

01:29:33.860 going fishing there i may even make a documentary about a different species called the last battle

01:29:39.220 against the fish thanks ron swansey hey dudes my metal islander shirt arrived today it looks suitably

01:29:45.940 fierce in person are any of you going to attend the reform conference in friday uh i'll be heading up

01:29:53.140 what connor is yeah okay we ron i think connor is attending it right north fz zuma order my islander

01:30:01.540 to keep it up lads also glad to see some white pills that's that's good right that's good right

01:30:07.940 based ape our justice system does not read and interpret the law and determine how it should 0.99

01:30:13.220 be applied our justice system reads and interprets the person on trial and determines how it should

01:30:19.780 be applied we don't punish people based on what they do we punish people based on who they are

01:30:25.860 i mean they also have to interpret the law in order to apply it in the particular case because

01:30:32.740 the law is very abstract it's you you have to interpret it as well st benny packs i work in a

01:30:39.220 digital forensics lab where 80 of our data is related to s to c sam child sexual abuse material

01:30:47.700 it's hard to believe that there are so many sick people in society it's just twisted and very sad one

01:30:53.940 thing i'll say is i've done a job before maybe you have dan maybe you have even said this where it's

01:30:58.180 horrible and it makes you unhappy and every single day is a bit of a slog and you're thinking to

01:31:02.820 yourself quite a lot of the time why am i doing this to myself change job that's why as soon as i

01:31:08.900 got to that point i get a new job yeah but also this is something that is so disturbing to watch

01:31:14.100 especially on a daily basis so yeah it's like living at the foot of a volcano or in the middle of a

01:31:19.940 hurricane path yeah or probably move probably move yeah uh poods b many of us will remember the

01:31:28.580 typical crowd owens joe owen jones etc coming out in defense of hugh edwards saying all of the rumors

01:31:34.420 were false allegations why was this a hill they were willing to die on before anything was confirmed or

01:31:40.260 denied i think that's an excellent question and there is definitely some tribalism there question is why

01:31:47.380 and i don't know i'm actually a big advocate for that i rarely although i do do it sometimes you

01:31:53.300 can't help it but rarely talk about things in proper detail and um sort of cast a moral judgment

01:31:59.220 on things until the trials happened and there's a conviction or something yeah because you you just

01:32:03.780 don't know i mean yeah anyway yeah the same i feel very uncomfortable if i i see something and

01:32:10.420 instantly try to talk about it um michael brooks he also did warnings about abuse online

01:32:17.060 talking about hugh edwards and he did someone online facebook posts threaten the establishment

01:32:22.740 nonsense don't terminal ballistics the british state is protecting pedophiles while attacking the

01:32:28.740 indigenous constituency the fact that there are english cities with 10 000 slaves and not

01:32:34.980 and that there are a multiplicity of grooming gangs assaulting children is a feature not a bug well

01:32:41.940 people who are into in the state of something they need to bear in mind that they are with their

01:32:48.900 actions institutions get delegitimized it's just as simple as that michael brooks defund the bbc this

01:32:55.780 would much this would be much more favorable than freezing grandparents but they can't do this as they 0.93

01:33:02.260 need the official propaganda outlet they're probably scared of the names he has and sophie live as sad and

01:33:08.020 horrible as it sounds the peter problem seems to be an overall problem in the entertainment industry

01:33:15.620 whether it's record studios hollywood the bbc or others they really attract pedos and powerful

01:33:20.500 people who will protect them i mean wherever you have access to lots of people and young people there

01:33:26.260 are people of that sort to go there should we do a few from the other segments yeah of course um

01:33:30.180 sneeder chuck says the chad venus versus incel mars segment is hilarious well done dan thank you very

01:33:35.060 much lars peter simmons says which would have hookers and casinos first mars or venus well it 1.00

01:33:39.860 would obviously be venus we know this from watching the empire strikes back because it turns out that

01:33:44.900 han solo won the millennium falcon by playing poker against that other dude in a yeah in in a cloud

01:33:50.980 city so yeah it would be all over the cloud cities yeah but also you remember what princess

01:33:55.220 leia was doing the belly dancing in tatooine tatooine is more like yeah but yeah next to some slug dude 0.99

01:34:02.020 so when that that can happen on mars that's fine um javier s says the only thing we need to worry

01:34:06.740 about while colonizing venus is how to set up the days and years it takes 224 earth days to maintain

01:34:12.020 the rotation so that can't be a single day yeah okay so i thought about this as well so

01:34:16.900 if you if you want to drop into the cloud level then the wind rotation is actually very fast the

01:34:22.580 winds are like whatever it is 300 miles an hour now that's not a problem for a cloud city because if

01:34:26.820 you're in the wind it doesn't feel like there is any wind because you're moving at the same speed

01:34:32.020 as it so then your day night cycle becomes about two days each you get the super cycle

01:34:37.460 and if you raise up higher above the cloud surface level then the winds drop down considerably and

01:34:42.580 because you're getting so much solar power you can actually just use engines to keep yourself in the

01:34:47.540 sunny bit and keep yourself in the sun all the daytime and if you want to sleep you just close the

01:34:51.220 the curtains or something after i think on different planets or moons like that you just go by completely

01:34:57.220 completely artificial earth cycle yeah um yeah it's probably best yeah yeah um thomas howell says

01:35:04.820 stelios is a glass far half full in the lotus eaters cupboard yes very good um terminal ballistics says i

01:35:12.340 love the idea of going to venus and i agree the balloon technology to boost the beginning stage of

01:35:16.180 floating outposts is absolutely possible that kind of thing would also help us explore gas giants and moons

01:35:21.060 it's not that crazy of an idea bow uh mars should still be on the table but venus should not be

01:35:26.980 off it calling technology on the surface of venus however is not realistic material science for that

01:35:31.140 is pretty distant well the principles are the same maybe expand on that at some point but the

01:35:35.380 principles are the same you just need to swap out the radiant fluids i think anyway az desert

01:35:40.340 races have you ever had a bolt of lightning strike near you down it's not a pleasant experience

01:35:44.980 well yeah but that again so i think that i think most of the lightning is like between 10 and 20 miles and

01:35:50.020 you would be at least 30 miles up so and and you could potentially go higher if you used hydrogen

01:35:54.740 for for ridiculous lift so you'd be well above his cloud level so all the stuff both say man

01:35:58.660 it's going to be cloudy no be fine you'll be fine should we go to the comments to the last segment yes

01:36:04.980 okay roman observer says the glare i don't understand this idea of going to an alien planet

01:36:10.660 without nuking it from orbit first have we learned nothing it's the only way to be sure

01:36:16.500 actually elon mentioned something about nuking mars from orbit essentially yeah it's one of the

01:36:22.340 terraforming techniques in order to heat it up enough and melt the ice because you need to get a

01:36:26.420 little bit of ice going because your solar panels only run at 40 so they're they're really in cell

01:36:32.260 solar panels derek power says be careful lads i've seen satellite photos of uranus well you should say

01:36:40.820 uranus but yeah uranus um uh charles ellington says nasa cgi as evidence they get 63 million a day

01:36:52.500 i guess that's dollars you got you guys know they lie about everything but you think they're telling

01:36:57.220 the truth about space yeah yeah i've done i've done segments before on nasa lying and everybody's

01:37:02.740 like dan's a conspiracy theorist i can't bloody win i know i know this guy he's he um he said in

01:37:09.140 comments loads of times he's a he doesn't believe loads of it most of it he's a massive well he's one

01:37:14.340 of the massive massive charles is a sensible chap then um he's one of the massive massive skeptics yes

01:37:19.540 and it's fair enough that's fair enough i mean i don't agree with with you charles but it's fair

01:37:23.700 enough i mean um okay uh lars petter simonson says uh in nasa boffins we trust right uh az desert rat

01:37:35.860 says uh here's my question how often are these moons bombarded by debris from the planetary rings

01:37:42.660 the saturn moon especially um well good question i mean so europa for example it looks like there's very

01:37:51.060 so okay so for europa in on sat on uh rings are quite stable at this point so no if we talk about

01:38:00.420 europa which is orbiting jupiter right the inner things are largely swept out it's largely swept

01:38:06.740 out i mean you can see the surface of europa there's very very as i say very very few craters in it

01:38:12.980 but it's always a worry even like micro micro meteors and stuff it's always a worry any mission that

01:38:19.700 goes outside of low earth orbit you've really got to worry about or even if you're in low earth orbit

01:38:25.460 actually you can still get hit by something it's totally possible right it's always a worry on that

01:38:31.620 note we've run out of time and we had a lovely podcast today i really enjoyed your segments i

01:38:37.060 didn't enjoy mine because it was just bleak we we cheered it up in the i i think we did so hope you

01:38:42.820 enjoyed it and see you tomorrow at 1 p.m goodbye
