00:00:00.000 Hi everybody, this is Gadsad. Back in 2009, I had authored an article in Psychology Today
00:00:07.880 titled The Narcissism and Grandiosity of Celebrities. I'll put a link to the Psychology
00:00:14.920 Today article and also to the subsequent sad truth clip that I had done based on that article.
00:00:21.800 But today I wanted to spend a few minutes discussing the manifestation of narcissism
00:00:28.440 and grandiosity of celebrities via a resurfaced clip of Anne Hathaway explaining to us 0.99
00:00:39.600 why she is the modern-day Aristotle, Epictetus, Socrates, and Plato wrapped in one beautiful
00:00:50.140 package. First watch it, and then I shall return. With the exception of being a cisgender male,
00:00:56.460 everything about how I was born has put me at the current center of a damaging and widely accepted
00:01:03.940 myth. That myth is that gayness orbits around straightness, transgender orbits around cisgender,
00:01:15.000 and that all races orbit around whiteness. And it is a myth that keeps money and power in the 0.78
00:01:21.720 hands of the few instead of being invested in the lives of the free. I appreciate this community
00:01:28.200 so much because it's where I learned to reject this myth. I appreciate this community
00:01:36.180 because together we are not just going to question this myth. We are going to destroy it.
00:01:42.660 did you enjoy that did you enjoy her self-importance her smugness her being wrong
00:01:53.260 about every conceivable syllable that she mentioned and with such haughtiness right
00:01:59.580 her community is enlightened while the rest of us plebs the great unwashed the rubes 0.79
00:02:07.200 simply can't extricate ourselves from our small myopic minds. Well, remember she did the
00:02:16.880 gayness orbits around straightness, transgender orbits around cisgender. There is no such thing 1.00
00:02:26.760 as cisgender. Human beings are a sexually reproducing species consisting of two phenotypes, 1.00
00:02:32.780 male and female. Some people could think that they are in the wrong body until very recently
00:02:38.840 that was considered as a psychiatric disorder. The default value is for men and women to exist
00:02:46.340 in their form, in any sexually reproducing, sexually dimorphic species. And then she said 0.72
00:02:52.900 that all races revolve around whiteness, but she's here to fight against that cosmological reality.
00:03:00.800 but let me first, I wrote a few words. Smugness orbits around Anne Hathaway. Narcissism, 1.00
00:03:09.000 pathological, malignant narcissism orbits around Anne Hathaway. Self-indulgence and self-importance
00:03:20.720 orbits around Anne Hathaway. Astounding imbecility orbits around Anne Hathaway. 1.00
00:03:30.200 But now I'd like to go back to that article that I mentioned earlier, 0.87
00:03:34.860 and I'm going to read you from it the third point that I think exactly captures
00:03:41.040 why the Anne Hathaways of the world exist. You ready? So this is from the article in question.
00:03:50.140 This next point is somewhat speculative, so I hope that you'll grant me some leeway.
00:03:55.640 You may have heard about survival guilt, namely the intense feelings of remorse that survivors
00:04:01.580 of a plane crash might experience.
00:04:03.940 A survivor might think, why did I cheat death when so many others die?
00:04:08.780 What is so special about me that my life was spared?
00:04:12.140 I propose a similar mechanism to explain celebrities' interventions in making a better
00:04:18.460 world.
00:04:18.880 I believe that they suffer from a form of existential guilt. They know in the deep
00:04:24.000 recesses of their minds that they are not deserving of the accolades and privileged
00:04:28.860 lives that they lead. One of the ways by which they can assuage this persistent guilt is to
00:04:35.320 demonstrate to the world that they are much more than a mere celebrity. Hence, they cure mental
00:04:42.080 illness. They eradicate autism. They neutralize radiation. These are actually real examples. 0.50
00:04:49.460 So in any case, the point that I'm trying to make here is that Anne Hathaway knows in the deep 0.98
00:04:56.460 recess of her mind, she's a moron who probably hasn't read a book since she was in grade eight. 0.97
00:05:05.400 Maybe that was the last year that she was in school. And therefore, I need to find a way, 0.99
00:05:11.780 if I'm Anne Hathaway, to close the circle. How could I be offered such accolades, such reverence,
00:05:21.620 such money, if I'm just merely someone who pretends to be a character? I am deeper than that,
00:05:29.180 and therefore I'm going to solve this problem of white supremacy. I'm going to solve the problem
00:05:35.640 of cisgenderism. I'm going to solve the problem of homophobia. And here with my community that
00:05:45.880 I love so much, community of fellow high school dropouts who just pretend for a living, I feel
00:05:55.120 like we can make a change.
