00:00:00.000 Good evening, Tel Aviv!
00:00:01.940 Yay! 0.99
00:00:04.940 Now, normally when you have a free event,
00:00:07.720 you expect 50% of the people not to show up.
00:00:11.180 But, of course, not every day you have Dr. Gadsad
00:00:15.220 addressing Tel Aviv!
00:00:18.000 So this is how it's going to go.
00:00:20.280 Dr. Gadsad is going to give a lecture
00:00:22.880 because he is a professor after all.
00:00:25.760 And then we're going to sit for a conversation
00:00:28.500 and we're going to open it for some questions from all of you.
00:00:32.120 So for those of you who don't know,
00:00:33.820 and I'm pretty sure you know this better than me,
00:00:35.920 we all know what an incredible leader,
00:00:38.820 Professor Gadsad is, Dr. Gadsad,
00:00:41.500 and the incredible advocacy work he does.
00:00:44.380 But let's talk a little bit about his background.
00:00:47.200 He spent his whole life a rare career
00:00:50.540 of asking uncomfortable questions
00:00:52.480 and insisting on honest answers.
00:00:55.440 He is a PhD from Cornell.
00:00:57.040 He is an evolutionary psychology professor at Concordia.
00:01:01.880 And today he is in Ole Miss.
00:01:04.740 Apparently I sound cool for saying that.
00:01:06.340 University of Mississippi.
00:01:07.220 I had no idea what it was.
00:01:08.340 But he is a scholar of the Declaration of Independence Center
00:01:12.280 for Study of American Freedom,
00:01:14.720 a public intellectual, a best-selling author,
00:01:17.840 and advocate for Israel in the last few years.
00:01:21.020 So without further ado, Dr. Gadsad.
00:01:28.720 Okay, so just first, thank you so much for all the love
00:01:32.200 and thank you for all coming.
00:01:34.300 We've been here for three days now
00:01:36.120 and the reception has been incredible
00:01:39.060 just walking on the street.
00:01:40.140 Usually, most of the time that people approach me,
00:01:43.860 you know, wherever I am publicly,
00:01:46.020 you always, it turns out that they're fans,
00:01:49.200 but you never know.
00:01:50.700 Whereas in Israel, 0.75
00:01:52.540 I know that whoever is going to come up to me,
00:01:55.200 God willing, is going to be a fan.
00:01:56.660 So thank you for making us feel safe here.
00:01:58.980 It's been great.
00:01:59.740 By the way, 1983 was the first time that I came to Israel.
00:02:02.540 At the time, I was 18
00:02:04.420 and I used to destroy all the Israeli soccer players 0.79
00:02:08.240 in Kikar Atarim right here.
00:02:11.140 40 plus years later,
00:02:12.800 I have a hard time coming up the stairs.
00:02:15.380 So first lesson to take away
00:02:17.680 is aging makes you very humble.
00:02:21.820 So today what I'd like to do
00:02:23.260 is basically go over a bit of my background,
00:02:26.880 which maybe many of you know about it,
00:02:29.440 but hopefully you'll take something new from it.
00:02:31.960 And then I'll talk about some of the ideas
00:02:35.120 that I developed in the parasitic mind
00:02:37.380 and now in my forthcoming book, Suicidal Empathy.
00:02:40.900 There'll be about a 45, 50 minute lecture.
00:02:43.240 And then as Fleur said,
00:02:44.780 we'll open it up with some questions.
00:02:47.540 All right, so let's get going.
00:02:50.400 So this is my childhood up to the age of 11.
00:02:54.620 I grew up very close to here in Beirut, Lebanon.
00:02:57.960 We were part of the last remaining group of Lebanese Jews
00:03:02.340 that had steadfastly refused to read the signs on the wall.
00:03:08.920 Much of my extended family had already left Lebanon in 1975.
00:03:13.600 Most of them had come to Israel,
00:03:15.120 but some went to France, some went to Canada.
00:03:18.740 But my parents were very well entrenched in Lebanon.
00:03:22.420 And so we were there when the civil war broke out.
00:03:25.540 And when the civil war broke out,
00:03:27.160 it was no longer a feasible option to be Jewish in Lebanon.
00:03:31.680 And so we ended up having to leave.
00:03:33.160 But I'm going to share with you some of the Jew hatred 0.99
00:03:35.900 that we faced even before the ultimate Lebanese civil war.
00:03:40.440 So the photo on the left is very close to where I grew up.
00:03:45.800 Lebanon, as some of you have heard,
00:03:48.220 used to be colloquially referred to as the Paris of the Middle East.
00:03:53.200 And the photo on the right is where I spent the last year of my childhood in Lebanon.
00:04:00.120 Now, a lot of people think that,
00:04:01.840 well, Lebanon was a very progressive and tolerant place,
00:04:05.400 not unlike the rest of the Middle East.
00:04:07.920 In some sense, that's a bit true.
00:04:10.280 But tolerance in the Middle East has a different timber to it
00:04:14.360 than tolerance in the West.
00:04:16.040 So let me tell you about some of the astounding Jew hatred
00:04:19.700 that we faced even in the Paris of the Middle East.
00:04:23.600 The gentleman on the left is Gamal Abdel Nasser,
00:04:27.160 who was the Pan-Arabist president of Egypt,
00:04:29.740 who passed away in 1970.
00:04:32.480 And as often happens in the Middle East, 0.91
00:04:36.260 people take to the streets and start screaming and lamenting.
00:04:39.780 And they actually do it with hamas,
00:04:43.840 which in Arabic means with zeal, with fervor.
00:04:47.700 And as these guys were walking down the streets,
00:04:50.200 screaming about the fact that this Egyptian guy had died,
00:04:53.360 they were all singing, 1.00
00:04:54.960 death to Jews, death to Jews. 1.00
00:04:57.940 And I'm a five-year-old kid, not quite six. 1.00
00:05:01.180 And I turned to my mother and I say,
00:05:03.000 why are they saying death to Jews? 0.51
00:05:05.340 And she says, just keep your head down. 0.96
00:05:06.740 Don't look out in the balcony.
00:05:07.680 And that was my first clear memory of the fact that we were somehow different.
00:05:13.020 We weren't fully Lebanese, according to some of our compatriots.
00:05:17.600 And by the way, I always put this photo on the right. 0.99
00:05:20.140 This is a Muslim guy who says death to all Jews. 0.99
00:05:25.420 And I always say, at least have the courtesy 1.00
00:05:28.060 that if you're going to have genocidal hatred,
00:05:30.700 to put it through a spell checker first.
00:05:32.500 I'm the second guy in the first row on the left.
00:05:40.840 This is probably two years before the start of the Civil War.
00:05:46.300 The teacher had told each of us to stand up
00:05:48.800 and say what we wish to be when we grow up.
00:05:51.940 I want to be a soccer player.
00:05:53.460 I want to be a doctor.
00:05:54.580 I want to be a policeman.
00:05:56.080 One of the kids in this photo who knew that I was Jewish 0.99
00:05:59.500 stood up and said, when I grow up, I want to be a Jew killer. 0.99
00:06:04.940 And everybody laughed and applauded. 0.99
00:06:07.620 This isn't the Paris of the Middle East.
00:06:09.800 This isn't progressive, tolerant Lebanon. 0.96
00:06:14.660 This is an actual newspaper clipping
00:06:18.160 of my brother David, who's 10 years older than me,
00:06:22.200 who had won the Lebanese championship several years in a row,
00:06:26.620 Lebanese judo championship.
00:06:27.720 And it wasn't quite a good thing for a Jew 1.00
00:06:32.900 to be constantly winning an athletic competition.
00:06:35.620 So he was approached by some men who explained to him
00:06:39.860 that it was time for him to retire,
00:06:43.560 lest he might have an unfortunate accident,
00:06:46.760 which, of course, he wasn't willing to retire.
00:06:49.200 So he ended up moving to France to pursue his judo career.
00:06:53.580 When we moved to Montreal, when we emigrated to Montreal,
00:06:56.540 many of you may or may not remember
00:06:58.240 that the 1976 Olympics happened in Montreal, Canada.
00:07:03.880 Well, the same guy who had to leave Lebanon 0.58
00:07:07.760 because we could no longer tolerate a Jew 1.00
00:07:10.740 being Lebanese champion for many years in a row
00:07:13.680 ended up representing Lebanon
00:07:16.500 in the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
00:07:19.520 So we can overlook in the Olympics
00:07:21.960 the fact that he had a terminal disease
00:07:24.420 known as being Jewish.
00:07:27.440 This is my parents, who are still both, thank God, alive.
00:07:32.480 My father is 95, my mother is 91.
00:07:35.720 And this is their actual wedding photo in Beirut in 1950.
00:07:42.100 Now, I put this up because something really bad happened to them
00:07:46.560 on one of their return trips to Lebanon.
00:07:48.220 In 1980, after we had already moved to Montreal in the mid-70s,
00:07:54.740 they were kidnapped by Fatah.
00:07:57.440 So many of the horrific stories that we heard post-October 7th
00:08:04.260 is something that my family faced back in 1980.
00:08:09.540 But luckily, because we had a lot of political connections,
00:08:12.860 we were able to, I say we, I had nothing to do with it.
00:08:16.020 I was 15 years old.
00:08:17.060 But my family and their friends were able to free them from Fatah.
00:08:21.820 It was actually Abu Nidal's group.
00:08:24.140 I'll just probably mention one or two more slides about my background,
00:08:27.280 then I'll get into parasitic mind and so on.
00:08:29.760 I call this the Star of David Has Come Full Circle.
00:08:33.720 In late October 1975, we ended up leaving Lebanon.
00:08:38.060 As we cleared on the day that we were leaving
00:08:42.280 and we cleared the Lebanese airspace,
00:08:45.860 the captain announced that we were now outside of Lebanese airspace.
00:08:52.220 So my mother took out a Star of David,
00:08:55.580 put it around my neck and said,
00:08:58.540 now you could wear this, not hide your identity
00:09:01.320 and be proud of who you are.
00:09:03.340 Fast forward to two weeks after October 7th,
00:09:08.020 and my son is sitting here.
00:09:10.380 The story is about him.
00:09:12.520 About two weeks after October 7th,
00:09:15.500 my wife and our son were coming to pick me up at a cafe
00:09:20.440 where I was working on my laptop, on my latest book.
00:09:25.420 And as we walked in,
00:09:27.040 she had just picked him up from a soccer match
00:09:29.040 in the east end of Montreal,
00:09:30.620 where there's a particular demographic group
00:09:34.160 that has taken over that area.
00:09:36.600 And he said to me,
00:09:38.940 Daddy, if you were wearing a Star of David
00:09:41.480 where I was playing soccer today, 0.97
00:09:43.920 you'd be dead.
00:09:45.700 So in 1975, 0.68
00:09:47.820 I put on the Star of David leaving Lebanon.
00:09:51.480 In 2023,
00:09:53.740 I can't wear a Star of David in Montreal, Canada.
00:09:57.320 That's what suicidal empathy looks like.
00:10:00.100 And that reality is happening in Malmo,
00:10:03.780 and in Paris,
00:10:05.200 and in London,
00:10:06.540 and in every imaginable Western city
00:10:08.660 because of the outlandishly insane
00:10:13.340 suicidally empathetic policies of the West,
00:10:16.880 which I'll talk about some more.
00:10:20.080 This is,
00:10:21.220 I wrote an article,
00:10:22.280 which my university in Montreal
00:10:24.780 was not happy about.
00:10:26.680 Concordia University is unsafe
00:10:28.000 for Jewish students.
00:10:28.880 Just for you to know,
00:10:30.300 as Fleur kindly mentioned,
00:10:32.300 I'm now at University of Mississippi.
00:10:35.500 And the reason why I'm at
00:10:36.640 the University of Mississippi
00:10:37.640 is because it became too dangerous
00:10:40.420 for me to be at Concordia University.
00:10:44.020 This is in the 21st century
00:10:45.920 in Montreal, Canada.
00:10:48.800 Concordia University
00:10:49.800 has been colloquially referred to
00:10:51.740 as Gaza University
00:10:53.580 since the early 2000s.
00:10:56.680 Some of you may or may not remember
00:10:58.380 that Prime Minister Netanyahu
00:11:00.940 in 2002
00:11:02.100 was cancelled
00:11:03.800 at Concordia University
00:11:05.300 before it was school
00:11:06.760 to be cancelled.
00:11:08.220 So imagine that you have
00:11:09.880 a Jewish professor
00:11:11.700 with my profile
00:11:14.080 trying to actually walk into campus.
00:11:16.900 I'd have to go into campus.
00:11:18.380 It was as if
00:11:19.840 there had to be
00:11:20.720 a military force
00:11:21.840 protecting me
00:11:23.140 just to go and teach a course.
00:11:25.640 And so I ended up
00:11:26.560 leaving Concordia.
00:11:28.580 That should be
00:11:29.680 the canary in the coal mine
00:11:31.320 telling you
00:11:32.380 things are not good in the West.
00:11:34.600 Because the things that I say
00:11:35.860 should not be,
00:11:37.340 you know,
00:11:37.520 I'm not frivolously incendiary.
00:11:40.920 I don't spread hate messages.
00:11:43.480 I'm very measured in what I say.
00:11:45.520 I'm very professorial
00:11:46.680 and disciplined in what I say.
00:11:48.440 But yet,
00:11:49.240 in the context of the West today,
00:11:51.300 the things that I say
00:11:52.200 are simply too dangerous.
00:11:56.140 All right.
00:11:56.880 So now what I'd like to do
00:11:57.940 is shift a bit.
00:11:59.640 That,
00:12:00.420 the Lebanese story
00:12:01.420 gives you a bit of the background
00:12:02.640 of why I'm able to say
00:12:05.100 the things that I say
00:12:06.220 because I grew up in that world.
00:12:08.200 So I certainly know
00:12:09.500 through first-hand experience
00:12:11.520 about these realities.
00:12:12.420 But I always tell people
00:12:13.840 that I faced two great wars
00:12:15.420 in my life.
00:12:16.700 The first great war 0.79
00:12:17.600 is the Lebanese Civil War.
00:12:20.220 The second great war, 0.92
00:12:21.620 as a professor for 32 years now,
00:12:24.100 is the war on science,
00:12:26.300 on logic,
00:12:27.480 on reason,
00:12:28.860 on common sense
00:12:30.020 that I've been seeing in academia.
00:12:32.200 And I certainly was
00:12:33.620 undoubtedly the first professor
00:12:36.200 to consistently warn people
00:12:38.700 the things that are being said
00:12:41.580 in university campuses
00:12:43.000 are insane. 0.55
00:12:45.240 And it's going to come back 0.98
00:12:46.520 to haunt you.
00:12:47.640 And they have come back
00:12:48.800 to haunt us.
00:12:49.520 Because once you start tolerating
00:12:51.720 a complete decoupling
00:12:53.600 from reality,
00:12:55.160 nothing good can come of that.
00:12:56.460 And so I'd like to start
00:12:57.540 with a story.
00:12:58.920 Some of you may know it.
00:13:00.360 I know my children
00:13:01.380 and wife know it 1.00
00:13:02.360 because they've probably heard it,
00:13:04.200 heard me mention it
00:13:04.940 a million times.
00:13:05.900 If you've already heard it,
00:13:07.320 you're now seeing it live.
00:13:08.380 If you haven't heard it,
00:13:09.600 enjoy the show.
00:13:11.940 This is from 2002,
00:13:13.760 the story.
00:13:14.640 My most illustrious
00:13:16.020 doctoral student,
00:13:17.400 who's now himself
00:13:18.480 a chaired professor,
00:13:20.060 had just defended
00:13:21.420 his doctoral dissertation.
00:13:23.540 This is 2002.
00:13:24.800 Remember,
00:13:25.140 it's 24 years ago.
00:13:27.860 So we were going out
00:13:29.020 to dinner
00:13:29.460 to celebrate.
00:13:31.280 How many people
00:13:31.840 know this story,
00:13:32.440 by the way?
00:13:32.660 Does anybody know this story?
00:13:33.960 Okay, we only have
00:13:34.620 about seven, eight people.
00:13:35.660 So good.
00:13:36.000 The rest of you are hearing it
00:13:37.000 for the first time.
00:13:38.380 So we didn't have children yet,
00:13:40.860 so it was just my wife and I
00:13:42.100 and the doctoral student.
00:13:44.020 And he calls me up
00:13:45.240 a bit nervously
00:13:46.920 before we were going out
00:13:48.160 to dinner.
00:13:48.860 And he says,
00:13:49.480 oh, I just want to let you know
00:13:50.720 that I'm
00:13:51.640 bringing a date tonight
00:13:53.340 for our celebratory dinner.
00:13:54.360 I said, yeah, great.
00:13:55.160 The more the merrier.
00:13:56.000 Fantastic.
00:13:56.900 He goes, oh,
00:13:57.280 but I just want to tell you
00:14:00.380 that she's a graduate student
00:14:02.440 in cultural anthropology,
00:14:05.880 postmodernism,
00:14:07.060 and women's studies. 0.74
00:14:09.860 I said, ah, 1.00
00:14:11.040 the holy trinity of bullshit. 1.00
00:14:16.560 I said, no, no, no, 1.00
00:14:17.420 I get it.
00:14:17.900 I get it.
00:14:18.560 This is your night.
00:14:20.560 I'm going to be
00:14:21.220 on my best behavior.
00:14:23.080 You won't get a peep
00:14:24.140 out of me,
00:14:24.800 which of course was a lie.
00:14:27.640 So about halfway
00:14:28.560 through the evening,
00:14:29.460 now I always tell the story
00:14:30.720 because it really marks
00:14:32.980 how long ago 1.00
00:14:34.220 this stupidity was happening. 1.00
00:14:36.280 It's such a powerful story. 1.00
00:14:37.760 We learn best
00:14:38.760 through sticky narratives.
00:14:40.560 I could give you
00:14:41.120 all the professorial stuff,
00:14:42.360 but that's not going to stick
00:14:43.300 as much as me
00:14:44.200 telling you the story.
00:14:45.360 I often will write to him
00:14:46.500 and say,
00:14:46.920 thank you so much
00:14:47.780 for that evening.
00:14:48.460 You don't know
00:14:48.820 how many miles
00:14:49.500 I've gotten out
00:14:50.120 of that story.
00:14:52.880 So I turned to this
00:14:54.100 young lady and I said,
00:14:55.080 oh, I hear you're
00:14:56.120 a postmodernist.
00:14:58.000 She says, yes.
00:14:59.000 I said,
00:14:59.560 there are no universal truths.
00:15:02.560 All truths are subjective.
00:15:04.940 She goes, yes.
00:15:07.000 Of course, by the way,
00:15:08.000 that's already a contradiction
00:15:09.140 because when you say
00:15:10.500 there are no universal truths,
00:15:14.020 that is a universal truth.
00:15:16.620 I said, well,
00:15:17.220 I'm an evolutionary psychologist,
00:15:18.580 so I do think
00:15:19.240 that there are
00:15:19.680 some universal truths.
00:15:21.280 Certainly there are
00:15:22.040 human universals.
00:15:23.420 Do you mind
00:15:23.780 if I share a universal
00:15:24.900 and then we can,
00:15:26.040 maybe you could teach me
00:15:27.260 why I'm wrong?
00:15:28.480 She said, yes, go ahead.
00:15:30.580 I said, is it not true
00:15:32.620 that within Homo sapiens
00:15:34.620 only women can bear children? 1.00
00:15:39.780 She looks at me
00:15:40.960 disgusted by my simple mind.
00:15:43.880 And says, no, it's not true.
00:15:50.060 I said, it's not true.
00:15:51.060 How is that?
00:15:52.220 She said, well,
00:15:53.000 there is some exotic Japanese tribe
00:15:56.320 off some exotic Japanese island
00:15:59.000 where in the folkloric mythological realm,
00:16:04.120 it is the men who bear children.
00:16:06.840 So by you restricting the conversation
00:16:09.000 to the biological men,
00:16:10.120 that's how you spread your misogyny. 0.86
00:16:14.340 So as I always tell people,
00:16:15.820 after I recovered from my mini stroke,
00:16:18.180 I then said, okay,
00:16:21.660 well, it might be
00:16:22.540 a bit too controversial
00:16:23.660 for me to say something
00:16:24.740 as incendiary
00:16:25.980 as only women bear children. 1.00
00:16:27.520 So let me take
00:16:27.960 a less corrosive example.
00:16:30.780 Is it not true
00:16:31.660 since time immemorial?
00:16:32.840 By the way, I'm from Lebanon,
00:16:33.760 so we have the Phoenician background
00:16:35.120 background of being mariners, right?
00:16:38.400 Sailors.
00:16:39.460 I said, is it not true
00:16:40.520 since time immemorial
00:16:41.520 that sailors have relied
00:16:43.720 on the premise
00:16:44.520 that the sun rises in the east
00:16:47.060 and it sets in the west?
00:16:49.480 Now, the first image
00:16:50.680 is the first story, right?
00:16:52.320 A man is getting pregnant. 0.96
00:16:53.540 The second image you're seeing
00:16:54.840 is a dancing hyena.
00:16:56.940 And it took me a while
00:16:57.940 to find this image,
00:16:58.820 but you'll see in a second
00:17:00.140 why it's relevant.
00:17:01.120 And there she used 0.98
00:17:02.900 an offshoot of postmodernism
00:17:06.360 called deconstructionism.
00:17:08.720 And for those of you
00:17:09.520 who studied this kind of nonsense
00:17:12.060 at Tel Aviv University 0.94
00:17:13.360 and the rest of your 1.00
00:17:15.640 bullshit departments, 0.99
00:17:16.900 that would be Jacques Derrida. 0.99
00:17:20.520 For those of you who don't know,
00:17:21.520 language creates reality.
00:17:23.320 There is no reality
00:17:24.360 outside language.
00:17:25.760 So then she uses that mechanism 1.00
00:17:28.080 and says,
00:17:29.020 what do you mean
00:17:29.900 east and west?
00:17:31.920 And what do you mean
00:17:33.240 the sun?
00:17:34.480 That which you call the sun,
00:17:36.460 I might call
00:17:37.600 dancing hyena.
00:17:40.740 I said, well, fine.
00:17:41.960 The dancing hyena
00:17:42.920 rises in the east
00:17:43.860 and sets in the west.
00:17:45.800 She said,
00:17:46.300 I don't play those games.
00:17:47.620 Now, why am I saying that story?
00:17:49.280 Because this was
00:17:50.160 a graduate student
00:17:51.280 at one of the leading,
00:17:53.040 well, certainly the leading
00:17:54.020 university in Canada
00:17:55.140 and one of the top
00:17:56.680 universities in the world.
00:17:57.940 So what's her trajectory
00:18:00.260 in life
00:18:01.000 if that's the training
00:18:03.120 that she's getting,
00:18:04.300 where she could sit
00:18:05.380 with a professor
00:18:06.240 and we can't agree
00:18:08.120 in the Venn diagram
00:18:09.900 of the intersection
00:18:10.840 of meaning
00:18:11.500 as to only women 0.99
00:18:13.500 bear children
00:18:14.380 in a sexually
00:18:15.040 reproducing species.
00:18:16.400 And there is such a thing
00:18:17.700 called the sun.
00:18:18.780 It only leads to
00:18:20.360 intellectual terrorism,
00:18:21.900 to nihilism.
00:18:22.640 And that's what you then
00:18:24.160 end up seeing
00:18:24.900 20 plus years later.
00:18:27.060 And I'll talk a bit
00:18:27.880 about that later.
00:18:29.080 But those warning signs
00:18:30.660 were already there
00:18:31.680 25, 30 years ago
00:18:33.800 for those who wanted
00:18:34.640 to actually pay attention.
00:18:38.740 These are some other
00:18:40.120 parasitic ideas
00:18:41.700 or idea pathogens
00:18:42.840 that I talk about
00:18:43.680 and you'll see in a second
00:18:45.140 why I'm going to mention them.
00:18:47.040 The top figure
00:18:48.640 is called tabula rasa.
00:18:50.360 Tabula rasa is
00:18:51.140 lacking for empty slate.
00:18:53.460 And this is a position
00:18:54.880 that many social scientists take,
00:18:57.160 which is that
00:18:58.180 we are all born
00:18:59.460 tabula rasa
00:19:00.500 with nothing in our brain.
00:19:03.040 There are no biological
00:19:04.480 imperatives
00:19:05.400 that shape our instincts.
00:19:08.760 So there is no biology.
00:19:10.020 What makes us human
00:19:11.020 is that we transcend
00:19:12.280 our biology, right?
00:19:13.900 And so it's only socialization
00:19:15.540 that teaches little boys
00:19:17.640 to play with guns and trucks.
00:19:19.640 And it's only socialization
00:19:21.480 that teaches little girls
00:19:23.340 to play with toys.
00:19:24.500 It's all a social construction.
00:19:27.080 That's called
00:19:27.720 social constructivism.
00:19:29.460 Now, if you wanted
00:19:30.740 to argue against this position.
00:19:33.900 Now, remember,
00:19:35.160 you know,
00:19:35.480 I've spent a career
00:19:36.400 going into forums
00:19:38.880 where people are going
00:19:40.080 to be very hostile
00:19:40.960 to what I'm going to say.
00:19:41.920 Never mind like
00:19:42.680 the Islam stuff.
00:19:43.760 That's later.
00:19:44.960 But even within
00:19:45.700 my scientific work,
00:19:46.880 the fact that I was trying
00:19:48.540 to introduce
00:19:49.700 evolutionary biology
00:19:51.560 and study human behavior
00:19:53.320 to most social scientists,
00:19:55.020 that was crazy talk.
00:19:56.720 What makes us human
00:19:57.760 is that we transcend
00:19:58.720 our biology.
00:19:59.920 Biology matters 0.98
00:20:00.660 for the dog.
00:20:01.940 Biology matters 0.98
00:20:02.640 for the zebra,
00:20:03.460 for the mosquito.
00:20:04.240 But surely, professor,
00:20:05.360 you're not saying
00:20:05.940 that consumers
00:20:07.060 are driven by their biology.
00:20:08.560 No, I'm exactly saying 1.00
00:20:09.540 that imbecile. 1.00
00:20:10.800 Okay. 1.00
00:20:11.720 Now, why am I putting
00:20:12.740 these are actual
00:20:13.800 ads
00:20:15.360 from a very progressive
00:20:17.400 toy company
00:20:18.120 and you'll see
00:20:18.800 its sex role reversal.
00:20:20.960 The boy is playing
00:20:21.960 with a doll
00:20:22.600 and the girl
00:20:24.360 is playing
00:20:25.120 with the gun.
00:20:26.880 The idea being
00:20:27.940 that the toy marketers,
00:20:29.760 because you're born
00:20:30.700 with empty minds,
00:20:32.160 can teach you
00:20:33.160 the proper way
00:20:34.120 to behave.
00:20:35.280 So if I wanted
00:20:36.340 to challenge
00:20:37.440 this position,
00:20:38.340 how would I do that?
00:20:39.740 And this is,
00:20:40.640 I mean,
00:20:41.180 I'd like to think
00:20:41.980 every slide
00:20:43.480 has a lot of
00:20:44.140 important things
00:20:44.840 for you to take away.
00:20:45.880 But the next slide
00:20:46.740 is a really important one
00:20:48.120 because it teaches you
00:20:50.100 how to defend
00:20:51.700 a position.
00:20:53.120 It's an incredibly
00:20:54.000 powerful
00:20:54.760 epistemological tool.
00:20:57.140 And so I call this
00:20:58.280 a nomological network
00:21:01.100 of cumulative evidence.
00:21:02.420 I know it's a mouthful,
00:21:03.400 so I'll explain it.
00:21:04.880 So in the middle,
00:21:06.240 you see the position
00:21:07.240 that I'd like to defend,
00:21:08.860 which is that no,
00:21:11.120 the sex specificity
00:21:12.540 of toy preferences
00:21:13.480 are not learned.
00:21:15.700 Rather,
00:21:16.400 they have a
00:21:17.480 biological-based
00:21:19.140 universal component.
00:21:21.380 And so if I want
00:21:22.220 to demonstrate
00:21:22.820 that to you,
00:21:23.980 how should I
00:21:25.120 present you
00:21:26.140 with evidence
00:21:26.880 that makes it
00:21:28.260 unequivocal
00:21:29.300 that my position
00:21:30.720 is the vertical one?
00:21:31.940 And so what I'm going
00:21:33.100 to do
00:21:33.680 is build you
00:21:35.140 a nomological network
00:21:37.480 of many distinct lines
00:21:39.860 of evidence,
00:21:40.660 all of which point
00:21:42.240 to the veracity
00:21:43.440 of this position.
00:21:44.520 So let me give you
00:21:45.100 a few examples.
00:21:46.120 I won't do
00:21:46.600 the entire network,
00:21:49.540 but hopefully
00:21:49.960 it will show you
00:21:51.320 the kind of discipline
00:21:52.360 you can use
00:21:53.260 when you're constructing
00:21:54.520 an argument,
00:21:55.500 even in front
00:21:56.680 of very hostile audiences.
00:21:58.700 So look at the top one
00:22:01.560 in the middle.
00:22:02.760 I can get you data
00:22:04.120 from other species.
00:22:06.100 I can get you data
00:22:08.060 from vervet monkeys,
00:22:10.020 from rhesus monkeys,
00:22:11.680 from chimpanzees,
00:22:13.020 showing you
00:22:14.000 that the infants
00:22:14.960 within their species
00:22:17.460 exhibit the exact same
00:22:19.740 sex-specific
00:22:20.840 toy preferences
00:22:21.720 that human infants do.
00:22:23.720 Already,
00:22:24.900 that shoots
00:22:25.880 the social constructivist
00:22:27.300 argument,
00:22:27.780 but I'm not going
00:22:28.340 to stop there.
00:22:29.420 I can get you data
00:22:30.540 if you look
00:22:30.980 at the top left one.
00:22:33.300 I can get you data
00:22:34.500 from developmental psychology
00:22:36.040 showing you
00:22:37.400 that young human infants
00:22:39.340 that are too young
00:22:41.040 to be socialized,
00:22:42.780 by definition,
00:22:43.840 I am going
00:22:44.340 to pick children
00:22:45.280 that haven't reached
00:22:46.780 the cognitive
00:22:47.380 developmental stage
00:22:48.500 to be socialized,
00:22:50.120 and I can show you
00:22:51.220 that they already
00:22:52.220 exhibit those
00:22:53.620 sex-specific
00:22:54.460 toy preferences.
00:22:55.800 So by definition,
00:22:57.140 I'm ruling out
00:22:58.060 the possibility
00:22:58.800 that it's due
00:22:59.380 to social construction.
00:23:01.140 Now,
00:23:01.600 that completely
00:23:02.880 kills the social
00:23:03.820 constructivist argument,
00:23:04.860 but I'm not going
00:23:05.540 to stop there.
00:23:06.720 If you look
00:23:07.440 at the top
00:23:09.240 right one
00:23:11.000 from clinical
00:23:11.960 endocrinology,
00:23:13.660 a field
00:23:14.120 of pediatric
00:23:14.880 medicine,
00:23:17.120 I can show you
00:23:18.720 that little girls
00:23:19.820 who suffer
00:23:21.080 from congenital
00:23:22.660 adrenal hyperplasia,
00:23:24.620 it's an
00:23:25.000 endocrinological
00:23:25.820 disorder
00:23:26.420 that masculinizes
00:23:28.540 the behaviors
00:23:29.700 of little girls.
00:23:31.120 What do you think
00:23:31.960 happens to the toy
00:23:32.820 preferences of such girls? 0.97
00:23:34.020 They become
00:23:35.160 exactly like
00:23:35.940 those of little
00:23:37.180 boys.
00:23:38.540 I can get you
00:23:39.840 data from
00:23:40.880 non-Western
00:23:42.060 societies,
00:23:43.040 from sub-Sahara
00:23:44.220 Africa,
00:23:45.640 from Central
00:23:46.720 Africa,
00:23:47.240 that have nothing
00:23:48.580 to do with the
00:23:49.280 West,
00:23:49.920 where they exhibit
00:23:51.340 the exact same
00:23:52.520 sex-specific
00:23:53.220 toy preferences.
00:23:54.340 You might say,
00:23:54.820 okay, well,
00:23:55.060 that sounds very
00:23:55.620 impressive,
00:23:56.460 but that's all
00:23:57.200 because it's
00:23:57.960 contemporary data.
00:23:59.360 Oh, don't worry
00:23:59.860 about it.
00:24:00.540 Look at the one
00:24:01.260 at the bottom
00:24:01.940 right.
00:24:02.340 I can get you
00:24:03.600 data from
00:24:04.400 ancient Greece
00:24:05.620 and ancient Rome
00:24:07.540 showing you
00:24:09.040 that little
00:24:10.440 kids depicted
00:24:11.720 on funerary
00:24:12.780 monuments
00:24:13.360 and cemeteries
00:24:14.720 are depicted
00:24:16.440 playing with
00:24:17.600 the exact same
00:24:18.720 sex-specific
00:24:19.520 toys that we
00:24:20.900 see today
00:24:21.860 in
00:24:22.400 Herzalia.
00:24:24.860 Meaning,
00:24:25.900 I've gotten
00:24:26.420 you data from
00:24:27.220 across cultures,
00:24:28.720 across species,
00:24:29.700 across time
00:24:30.820 periods,
00:24:31.560 across disciplines,
00:24:32.780 all of which
00:24:33.660 point to
00:24:34.840 the veracity
00:24:35.740 of that central
00:24:36.600 position.
00:24:37.420 So I don't have
00:24:38.000 to scream louder
00:24:38.840 than you.
00:24:39.560 I don't have
00:24:40.100 to be hysterical.
00:24:41.420 I don't have
00:24:42.040 to call you
00:24:42.600 racist or sexist.
00:24:44.000 I simply have
00:24:44.760 to have the
00:24:45.280 epistemological
00:24:46.040 discipline to
00:24:47.260 build that network
00:24:48.380 and good luck
00:24:49.500 to you if you
00:24:50.020 wish to debate
00:24:50.560 me.
00:24:51.260 So one of the
00:24:51.940 reasons why
00:24:52.620 people say,
00:24:53.240 how come you
00:24:53.740 never get
00:24:55.140 canceled?
00:24:55.900 You say more
00:24:56.900 controversial things
00:24:57.860 as a professor
00:24:58.480 than all the
00:24:59.900 other professors
00:25:00.500 combined.
00:25:01.480 Well, because
00:25:02.040 I've built all
00:25:03.040 of my
00:25:03.340 nomological
00:25:03.780 networks.
00:25:04.500 When I say
00:25:05.220 that Islam 0.98
00:25:05.820 is not a
00:25:06.420 religion of
00:25:07.020 peace,
00:25:07.880 I can show
00:25:08.780 you the
00:25:09.120 nomological
00:25:09.660 network that
00:25:10.740 supports my
00:25:11.360 position.
00:25:12.440 I'm very
00:25:12.920 disciplined.
00:25:13.720 I know
00:25:14.000 exactly what
00:25:14.800 I know and
00:25:15.220 what I don't
00:25:15.720 know.
00:25:16.320 So in all
00:25:17.200 of your
00:25:17.580 lives,
00:25:18.120 irrespective
00:25:18.780 of what
00:25:19.080 you're doing,
00:25:19.900 if you learn
00:25:20.700 this epistemological
00:25:22.180 tool, believe
00:25:23.520 me, it will
00:25:24.360 help you in
00:25:26.120 persuading people.
00:25:26.980 All right, so
00:25:28.760 now I'm going
00:25:29.140 to talk a
00:25:29.620 bit about
00:25:30.260 irrationality,
00:25:31.560 since many
00:25:31.980 of the
00:25:32.280 parasitic
00:25:32.740 ideas,
00:25:33.320 right, men
00:25:34.580 can bear
00:25:35.120 children, men
00:25:36.080 can menstruate,
00:25:37.280 is a form of
00:25:38.020 irrationality.
00:25:39.100 Before I do
00:25:39.940 that, I want
00:25:40.580 to contextualize
00:25:41.680 it, actually,
00:25:42.580 and if you
00:25:43.540 see the
00:25:43.860 bottom,
00:25:44.520 Daniel Kahneman
00:25:45.320 and Amos
00:25:45.900 Tversky are 1.00
00:25:47.280 actually two
00:25:47.960 Israeli
00:25:48.440 psychologists.
00:25:49.280 My original
00:25:49.940 doctoral training
00:25:50.940 was in
00:25:51.840 psychology of
00:25:52.580 decision-making,
00:25:53.780 and so I was
00:25:54.600 very much within
00:25:55.380 the tradition of
00:25:56.340 these two
00:25:56.720 gentlemen, what
00:25:57.860 they did in
00:25:58.640 their research
00:25:59.360 is they
00:26:00.000 demonstrated
00:26:00.700 what's called
00:26:01.480 axiomatic
00:26:02.800 irrationality,
00:26:03.960 meaning classical
00:26:06.300 economists think
00:26:07.600 that for us to
00:26:08.740 be rational human
00:26:09.700 beings, we
00:26:10.560 should adhere to
00:26:11.420 certain axioms.
00:26:12.620 When we don't
00:26:13.520 do that, we're
00:26:14.540 being axiomatically
00:26:15.980 irrational.
00:26:16.800 So let me give
00:26:17.220 you an example.
00:26:18.560 If I prefer
00:26:19.480 car A to
00:26:20.780 car B, and
00:26:22.260 if I prefer
00:26:22.980 car B to
00:26:23.820 car C, it
00:26:25.200 must be that
00:26:26.540 I prefer
00:26:27.060 car A to
00:26:27.880 car C.
00:26:28.940 That's called
00:26:29.520 the transitivity
00:26:30.480 axiom.
00:26:31.260 If I violate
00:26:32.160 that, I'm
00:26:33.200 being axiomatically
00:26:34.660 irrational.
00:26:36.060 Or if I
00:26:37.360 tell you that
00:26:38.300 this burger
00:26:39.000 is 90%
00:26:40.580 fat-free,
00:26:41.920 or I
00:26:43.120 give you the
00:26:43.660 exactly
00:26:44.240 isomorphically
00:26:45.220 equivalent
00:26:45.760 description,
00:26:47.540 it's 10%
00:26:48.500 fat.
00:26:49.220 90% fat-free
00:26:50.600 is identical
00:26:51.460 to 10%
00:26:52.300 fat, my
00:26:53.240 evaluation 0.82
00:26:53.760 should be
00:26:54.400 the same,
00:26:55.380 yet Kahneman
00:26:56.480 and Tversky
00:26:56.960 showed that
00:26:57.460 no, depending
00:26:58.700 on how you
00:26:59.360 frame the
00:26:59.980 exact same
00:27:00.680 thing, people
00:27:01.580 will have
00:27:02.140 preference
00:27:02.820 reversals, and
00:27:03.680 so on.
00:27:04.960 So this is
00:27:05.840 called axiomatic
00:27:07.200 rationality,
00:27:08.060 because you
00:27:08.820 propose a set
00:27:09.780 of axioms by
00:27:10.960 which people
00:27:11.660 ought to
00:27:12.860 behave if
00:27:13.420 they're rational,
00:27:14.260 and if they
00:27:14.940 violate them,
00:27:15.740 they're being
00:27:16.140 irrational.
00:27:17.260 But the
00:27:17.660 irrationality that
00:27:18.800 I uncovered in
00:27:19.960 university campuses
00:27:20.820 is much broader
00:27:22.620 than this
00:27:23.240 very restricted
00:27:24.920 form of
00:27:25.540 irrationality.
00:27:26.600 Once you
00:27:27.260 can convince
00:27:28.020 people that
00:27:29.280 there are
00:27:29.720 873 genders
00:27:31.520 and certainly
00:27:32.340 more than
00:27:32.820 two sexes,
00:27:33.700 you're no
00:27:34.360 longer talking
00:27:35.120 about axiomatic
00:27:36.120 irrationality.
00:27:37.400 It's much
00:27:37.860 bigger than
00:27:38.440 this.
00:27:39.300 And so this
00:27:39.720 is where we
00:27:40.200 get to the 0.99
00:27:41.180 parasitic mind 0.96
00:27:42.160 that, by the 0.94
00:27:43.200 way, it came
00:27:43.820 out last year,
00:27:44.600 I think, in
00:27:45.180 Hebrew, and
00:27:46.620 apparently it
00:27:47.500 did very, very
00:27:48.360 well, and I
00:27:49.060 think now there's
00:27:49.560 discussion to
00:27:50.280 maybe get
00:27:51.380 suicidal empathy
00:27:52.240 in Hebrew as
00:27:52.840 well.
00:27:53.440 So this
00:27:53.860 leads us to
00:27:54.680 the two
00:27:55.360 books, I
00:27:56.580 mean, I've
00:27:57.320 written, you
00:27:57.960 know, many
00:27:58.180 other books, but
00:27:58.840 these two books
00:27:59.600 are relevant to
00:28:00.220 our conversation
00:28:00.820 here because
00:28:02.200 they're the
00:28:02.680 one-two punch, 0.83
00:28:03.680 and let me
00:28:03.940 explain why.
00:28:06.240 For me to
00:28:07.220 be able to
00:28:08.100 completely hijack
00:28:09.600 your ability
00:28:10.700 to reason, I
00:28:12.400 have to do
00:28:12.940 two things.
00:28:13.960 We are both a
00:28:15.000 thinking and
00:28:16.120 feeling animal.
00:28:17.180 It's not that
00:28:17.720 we're one or
00:28:18.340 the other,
00:28:19.120 right?
00:28:19.380 We've evolved
00:28:20.460 both a
00:28:21.220 cognitive system
00:28:22.200 and an
00:28:23.020 emotional system.
00:28:24.900 The parasitic 0.97
00:28:25.560 mind talks about 0.97
00:28:27.280 what happens
00:28:28.560 when I
00:28:29.380 parasitize your
00:28:30.440 cognitive system.
00:28:32.760 Suicidal empathy
00:28:34.020 completes the
00:28:34.980 story by
00:28:35.720 explaining what
00:28:36.540 happens to you
00:28:37.440 when I
00:28:38.200 parasitize your
00:28:39.720 emotional system.
00:28:41.220 Once I have
00:28:42.120 hijacked these
00:28:43.020 two systems,
00:28:44.260 you're a complete 1.00
00:28:44.920 imbecile. 1.00
00:28:47.060 And I can get 1.00
00:28:48.300 you to say
00:28:48.880 anything that
00:28:49.720 I'd like you
00:28:50.160 to say, as
00:28:50.760 we've seen.
00:28:51.940 And the
00:28:53.100 great majority
00:28:54.000 of both
00:28:55.420 domestic and
00:28:56.760 foreign policies
00:28:57.880 that we've
00:28:58.500 seen the
00:28:59.080 West enact
00:29:00.060 stem from
00:29:01.800 the parasitization
00:29:03.520 of both the
00:29:04.800 emotional and
00:29:05.480 cognitive system.
00:29:06.240 And I'll give
00:29:06.640 examples of that
00:29:07.600 for the rest of
00:29:08.780 today's lecture.
00:29:09.460 But let me
00:29:13.440 explain how I
00:29:14.300 came up with
00:29:14.980 the insight to
00:29:16.220 use this
00:29:17.020 parasitic 0.69
00:29:17.800 framework.
00:29:19.100 So as an
00:29:19.800 evolutionary
00:29:20.220 psychologist, one
00:29:21.140 of the things
00:29:21.520 that you do is
00:29:22.340 you try to
00:29:23.080 identify what
00:29:24.460 are called
00:29:24.900 homologies and
00:29:26.140 analogies with
00:29:27.020 other species.
00:29:28.120 Remember earlier
00:29:28.860 when I told you
00:29:29.780 that vervet
00:29:30.780 monkeys and
00:29:31.580 rhesus monkeys
00:29:32.420 and chimpanzees
00:29:33.600 exhibit the same
00:29:34.880 sex-specific
00:29:36.080 toy preferences
00:29:36.780 as human infants
00:29:37.720 do, right?
00:29:38.140 So one of
00:29:39.680 the things that
00:29:40.160 I wanted to
00:29:40.600 do was to
00:29:41.080 see are there
00:29:42.160 other animals
00:29:43.480 that seem to
00:29:44.760 have the
00:29:45.900 hijacking of 0.83
00:29:47.020 their brains?
00:29:48.740 Now parasitology
00:29:50.020 for those of
00:29:50.660 you who may
00:29:51.900 or may not
00:29:52.340 know is the
00:29:53.500 study of
00:29:54.720 host parasite
00:29:56.760 interactions.
00:29:58.060 So for example
00:29:58.580 a tapeworm
00:29:59.520 parasitizes your
00:30:01.360 intestinal tract
00:30:02.400 but a
00:30:03.420 neuroparasite
00:30:04.600 is a parasite 0.91
00:30:05.800 that needs to 1.00
00:30:06.740 get to your
00:30:07.260 brain
00:30:07.740 altering its
00:30:09.460 neuronal
00:30:10.000 circuitry to
00:30:11.240 suit the
00:30:12.220 interests of 0.66
00:30:12.980 the parasite 0.94
00:30:13.460 and I'll give 0.89
00:30:14.540 you a few
00:30:14.940 examples.
00:30:16.560 In the top
00:30:17.660 figure you
00:30:18.500 have a
00:30:19.300 spider wasp
00:30:20.620 that's much
00:30:21.660 smaller than
00:30:22.940 the spider that
00:30:23.880 it's going to
00:30:24.440 parasitize.
00:30:25.360 Once it
00:30:26.160 stings it 0.91
00:30:26.980 the spider
00:30:28.480 is rendered
00:30:29.260 zombified.
00:30:30.960 It now
00:30:31.720 carries it to
00:30:32.640 its burrow
00:30:33.320 puts it in the
00:30:34.660 burrow.
00:30:35.060 the spider
00:30:36.280 is completely
00:30:37.100 alive but
00:30:38.280 incapable of
00:30:39.240 reacting.
00:30:40.280 It then
00:30:40.880 lays its
00:30:41.680 eggs on
00:30:42.740 the spider
00:30:43.320 and then
00:30:44.380 the offsprings
00:30:45.520 will eat
00:30:46.520 the spider
00:30:47.700 in vivo
00:30:48.780 while it's
00:30:50.340 alive.
00:30:51.120 While political
00:30:52.120 correctness is
00:30:53.840 akin to the
00:30:54.660 spider's wasp,
00:30:55.660 right?
00:30:56.000 We all walk
00:30:57.060 slowly and
00:30:57.900 quietly to the
00:30:58.700 abyss of infinite
00:30:59.640 lunacy going
00:31:00.500 yes, yes, men
00:31:01.500 too can
00:31:01.940 menstruate.
00:31:02.900 Men too can
00:31:03.460 it.
00:31:03.660 Yes, absolutely.
00:31:04.700 I know this.
00:31:05.760 It's progressive
00:31:06.440 biology.
00:31:08.340 I'll skip all
00:31:09.200 of these but
00:31:09.640 I'll get, I
00:31:10.380 mean there are
00:31:10.720 many, many
00:31:11.160 great examples
00:31:12.060 but let me get
00:31:12.660 to one because
00:31:14.100 as many of my
00:31:15.720 terms end up
00:31:16.500 going, it has
00:31:17.840 gone viral.
00:31:18.960 So some of you
00:31:19.520 have heard me
00:31:20.260 say, oh, look
00:31:21.740 at this wood
00:31:22.620 cricket Jew. 0.98
00:31:24.420 And let me
00:31:25.100 explain what
00:31:25.660 that is.
00:31:26.920 The wood
00:31:27.620 cricket that you
00:31:28.420 see in the
00:31:28.920 bottom right
00:31:29.640 detests water.
00:31:31.780 It wants
00:31:32.600 nothing to do
00:31:33.220 with water.
00:31:34.580 But when
00:31:35.700 the wood
00:31:36.160 cricket is
00:31:37.540 parasitized by
00:31:38.740 a hairworm, a
00:31:39.740 type of brain
00:31:40.400 worm, the
00:31:41.660 brain worm, the 0.86
00:31:42.780 hair worm needs
00:31:44.160 it to merrily
00:31:45.760 jump into
00:31:46.460 water, happily 0.95
00:31:48.060 commit suicide so 1.00
00:31:49.780 that it could 0.99
00:31:50.480 then complete its
00:31:52.020 reproductive cycle
00:31:53.000 because it can't
00:31:53.760 complete its
00:31:54.280 reproductive cycle
00:31:55.100 if it's not in
00:31:56.140 water.
00:31:57.240 So you could
00:31:57.720 start seeing now
00:31:58.700 how many of the
00:31:59.820 policies that
00:32:00.980 the West
00:32:01.500 enact are
00:32:03.180 exactly the
00:32:04.400 wood cricket.
00:32:04.960 So many of
00:32:05.540 the Jews for
00:32:07.300 Hamas, those 1.00
00:32:08.860 are called
00:32:09.340 wood cricket
00:32:09.940 Jews.
00:32:11.200 Right?
00:32:11.760 And I'll give
00:32:12.200 examples of
00:32:12.980 those.
00:32:14.240 Now, what is
00:32:15.020 suicidal empathy?
00:32:17.180 So let me go
00:32:17.980 back here for a
00:32:18.620 second.
00:32:20.400 This curve,
00:32:22.480 this inverted
00:32:23.120 U, I argue,
00:32:25.280 is the most
00:32:26.060 important curve
00:32:27.600 that you could
00:32:28.760 ever study if
00:32:30.380 you want to
00:32:31.460 live a maximally
00:32:32.760 flourishing life.
00:32:34.660 I'd love to say
00:32:35.660 that I'm the one
00:32:36.340 who discovered
00:32:36.880 it, but
00:32:37.400 Aristotle already
00:32:38.980 explained this to
00:32:39.840 us more than
00:32:40.780 2,000 years ago.
00:32:41.920 It's called the
00:32:42.400 golden mean.
00:32:43.720 Too little of
00:32:44.420 something is not
00:32:45.160 good, too much
00:32:46.380 of something is
00:32:47.080 not good, and
00:32:48.120 much of life is
00:32:49.360 about trying to
00:32:50.240 find the sweet
00:32:50.980 spot.
00:32:51.760 But what I did
00:32:52.660 discover is that
00:32:53.900 that universal law
00:32:55.660 applies across a
00:32:57.920 bewildering number
00:32:59.020 of phenomena, at
00:33:00.360 the cellular
00:33:00.960 level, at the
00:33:02.220 individual level, at
00:33:03.880 the organism level,
00:33:06.260 at the population
00:33:07.280 level, at the
00:33:08.180 economic level.
00:33:09.660 This rule of too
00:33:10.880 little, not good,
00:33:11.800 too much is not
00:33:12.580 good, and the
00:33:13.480 happy medium is
00:33:14.380 the optimal one
00:33:15.560 applies to so
00:33:16.520 many things.
00:33:17.600 Well, exactly that
00:33:19.060 happens with
00:33:20.060 empathy.
00:33:21.680 A lot of people
00:33:22.620 have already are
00:33:24.740 writing hit pieces
00:33:25.720 on me.
00:33:26.380 The book is not
00:33:26.840 even out yet, by
00:33:27.600 the way.
00:33:28.220 It's only last
00:33:29.320 week that it
00:33:30.380 went on pre-order,
00:33:31.420 and by the way,
00:33:32.360 yes, I'm going to
00:33:33.200 engage in Jewish 0.88
00:33:34.080 guilt here.
00:33:35.180 I didn't charge a
00:33:36.820 cent to come and
00:33:37.960 do this.
00:33:38.640 Usually it would be
00:33:39.580 a lot of zeros
00:33:40.700 after a number.
00:33:47.400 But this is what
00:33:48.560 I'm expecting.
00:33:50.240 At the end of
00:33:51.320 today, you're
00:33:52.520 going to go to
00:33:53.160 this little place
00:33:53.960 called Amazon.
00:33:55.860 You're going to
00:33:56.580 stop being cheap 1.00
00:33:58.280 bastards. 1.00
00:34:01.420 Yes? 1.00
00:34:02.880 Because I saved
00:34:03.920 you $40,000, and
00:34:06.240 you're going to
00:34:07.060 press this little
00:34:07.920 thing called pre-order
00:34:09.240 so that when my
00:34:10.440 book comes out, all
00:34:12.480 of those pre-orders
00:34:13.500 go into the first
00:34:14.480 day of sales, and
00:34:15.640 so it could be
00:34:16.200 number one on the
00:34:17.340 New York Times
00:34:17.840 bestseller.
00:34:18.420 Now, the reason
00:34:18.880 for that, the
00:34:21.680 reason why that's
00:34:22.420 important is because
00:34:23.200 once you're out of
00:34:25.180 the blocks, are
00:34:26.080 number one, then it
00:34:27.500 becomes like an
00:34:28.380 avalanche, and then
00:34:29.320 you can really spread
00:34:30.120 the message, okay?
00:34:31.780 Well, so many people
00:34:33.280 have said the Jewish
00:34:35.560 intellectual in the
00:34:38.140 background behind
00:34:40.020 Donald Trump and
00:34:41.900 Elon Musk, yours truly,
00:34:43.820 is trying to create a
00:34:46.700 dark world where
00:34:48.440 empathy ceases to
00:34:49.900 exist.
00:34:50.780 I'm doing no such
00:34:51.700 thing.
00:34:52.660 Empathy is a
00:34:53.880 perfectly beneficial
00:34:56.020 evolutionary virtue.
00:34:58.820 To be a social
00:34:59.920 species like we are, we
00:35:01.440 have to be empathetic.
00:35:02.980 So, for example,
00:35:03.700 theory of mind, which
00:35:05.380 is something that's
00:35:06.220 part of cognitive
00:35:07.040 empathy, is when I
00:35:08.940 have, if I'm having a
00:35:09.880 conversation, I need
00:35:10.980 to put myself in your
00:35:12.220 mind and vice versa in
00:35:14.180 order for us to have a
00:35:15.340 good conversation.
00:35:16.860 Autistic children, by
00:35:18.000 the way, usually fail a
00:35:20.880 theory of mind test.
00:35:22.060 So, the way that you
00:35:22.840 diagnose a child as
00:35:24.960 being autistic is you 0.96
00:35:26.600 give them a theory of
00:35:27.760 mind test, which they
00:35:28.840 invariably fail.
00:35:30.440 So, empathy, when
00:35:32.080 properly modulated, not
00:35:34.480 too little, if you have
00:35:35.820 little to no empathy,
00:35:37.660 what are you called?
00:35:39.600 Psychopath.
00:35:40.880 But, on the other side
00:35:42.780 of the curve, where
00:35:43.680 suicidal empathy lies, is
00:35:46.080 where, as I fill up my
00:35:48.120 car gas, I'm crying
00:35:50.880 because I'm using the 0.99
00:35:52.180 juice of having raped 0.98
00:35:53.500 Mother Earth while I 0.99
00:35:55.280 fill it up.
00:35:57.220 I look at noble
00:35:58.780 Muhammad, Mahmoud, and
00:36:00.360 Ahmad, who came back 1.00
00:36:01.880 from a summer camp in
00:36:03.140 Al-Qaeda in Kabul, and
00:36:05.120 it's unfair and mean to
00:36:07.080 not let them come and
00:36:08.320 peacefully live amongst us.
00:36:10.120 Because I know that it's
00:36:11.340 unfair to argue that
00:36:13.100 Islam could ever be 0.99
00:36:14.440 anything but beautifully
00:36:15.820 peaceful.
00:36:17.220 So, not being empathetic
00:36:19.420 at all is bad.
00:36:20.940 Being too empathetic at
00:36:22.360 the wrong time and the
00:36:23.760 wrong amount to the
00:36:24.980 wrong targets results in
00:36:27.060 suicidal empathy.
00:36:28.960 And so, I'll talk more
00:36:29.880 about that.
00:36:31.160 Let me give you the
00:36:32.280 background to how I came
00:36:33.780 up with this idea.
00:36:35.740 So, OCD, for those of
00:36:37.160 you who don't know, is
00:36:38.400 obsessive-compulsive
00:36:39.440 disorder.
00:36:40.380 Yes?
00:36:40.740 It's a very debilitating
00:36:42.240 psychiatric disorder.
00:36:44.200 And I'm going to show
00:36:45.280 you how OCD can be
00:36:49.500 linked to suicidal
00:36:50.300 empathy in a particular
00:36:51.260 way.
00:36:53.940 Scanning the environment
00:36:55.200 for threats is
00:36:57.100 perfectly adaptive, right?
00:36:58.600 So, for example, if
00:36:59.900 right now one of you
00:37:01.600 wants to introduce
00:37:02.880 themselves to me and I
00:37:04.440 see that you were
00:37:05.380 sneezing into your hand
00:37:06.480 for five hours before you
00:37:07.780 shook my hand, I'm going
00:37:09.420 to take a mental note
00:37:10.580 after I shake your hand
00:37:11.680 to run to the bathroom
00:37:12.740 to wash my hands because
00:37:14.320 I don't want to catch
00:37:15.280 your cold.
00:37:16.300 So, having scanned the
00:37:17.880 environment for threats
00:37:19.320 makes perfect evolutionary
00:37:20.860 sense.
00:37:21.980 What doesn't make
00:37:23.020 evolutionary sense, if I
00:37:24.860 then spend every day,
00:37:26.920 eight hours a day,
00:37:28.940 cleaning my hands in
00:37:30.460 scalding hot water so
00:37:32.280 that my skin is falling
00:37:33.580 off, I can't get to work,
00:37:35.340 I get fired because I'm
00:37:37.180 stuck in an infinite OCD
00:37:39.320 loop.
00:37:40.200 So, the warning flag,
00:37:41.900 which for the non-OCD
00:37:43.700 person, the warning flag
00:37:44.960 goes up, you tend to it,
00:37:46.900 it goes down, and you go
00:37:48.120 on with your day.
00:37:49.380 Well, the same thing I
00:37:50.740 argue happens with
00:37:52.240 empathy.
00:37:53.480 Empathy, when it is
00:37:54.620 regulated within
00:37:55.700 adaptive regions, makes
00:37:57.620 perfect evolutionary
00:37:58.580 sense.
00:37:59.480 Once it becomes
00:38:00.420 hyperactive, it results
00:38:03.180 in the terrible tragedies
00:38:05.180 that we see in the
00:38:05.900 West.
00:38:06.140 So, that's the
00:38:07.080 theoretical framework
00:38:08.180 of that.
00:38:09.200 I won't give the
00:38:10.040 example of compulsive
00:38:10.860 buying, but it's the
00:38:11.540 same idea.
00:38:12.980 So, I argue that
00:38:15.020 for those of you who
00:38:16.280 know anything about
00:38:17.380 Japanese history, the
00:38:19.960 Japanese are very much
00:38:21.140 a culture of honor 0.99
00:38:22.840 and shame.
00:38:24.000 Not unlike Arabic 1.00
00:38:26.320 culture, right, where
00:38:27.480 saving face is really
00:38:29.240 important.
00:38:29.660 Nothing is worse than
00:38:30.540 losing face.
00:38:31.700 So, in the Japanese
00:38:33.400 samurai tradition, if you
00:38:35.620 engage in a behavior
00:38:36.820 that brought you
00:38:37.900 shame, the only way
00:38:39.800 to then expitiate that
00:38:41.920 shame would be to
00:38:43.620 commit seppuku, self
00:38:46.100 disembowelment.
00:38:47.740 And that's the only way
00:38:49.140 by which I could regain
00:38:50.360 my honor.
00:38:51.480 And so, I argue that
00:38:53.040 what the West is doing is
00:38:55.080 committing civilizational
00:38:57.040 seppuku. 0.99
00:38:58.040 We are evil white 1.00
00:38:59.520 colonizers who are 1.00
00:39:01.180 transphobic, Islamophobic. 0.99
00:39:03.000 We took over indigenous 1.00
00:39:04.680 land, self-flagellate,
00:39:06.720 self-flagellate.
00:39:07.780 The only way I could now
00:39:09.480 expitiate my existential
00:39:12.360 guilt is to then commit
00:39:14.240 civilizational seppuku.
00:39:16.320 And the way you do that is
00:39:17.980 through the dysregulation
00:39:19.220 of empathy, hence
00:39:21.220 suicidal empathy.
00:39:24.040 Now, earlier I talked
00:39:26.040 about wood cricket Jews,
00:39:27.360 and I realized that
00:39:28.960 many years ago
00:39:29.900 another Jew 0.92
00:39:31.480 from
00:39:32.000 Czech Republic
00:39:33.420 wrote a very famous book
00:39:35.240 called
00:39:35.720 The Metamorphosis
00:39:37.220 where a
00:39:38.500 young guy
00:39:39.640 wakes up one day,
00:39:41.220 he used to be a human
00:39:42.220 being, and now he
00:39:43.020 wakes up
00:39:43.880 as a
00:39:44.780 insect.
00:39:45.840 And now we see
00:39:46.740 what happens
00:39:47.520 as his family
00:39:48.900 has to interact
00:39:50.300 with him
00:39:50.820 when he's no longer
00:39:51.880 a human being.
00:39:52.500 Well, the wood cricket
00:39:53.940 Jews that I told you
00:39:54.880 about is exactly
00:39:55.960 this metamorphosis,
00:39:57.480 and I'll talk a bit
00:39:58.140 about that
00:39:58.760 in a second.
00:40:00.140 So let's look at
00:40:01.080 some wood crickets
00:40:02.680 today.
00:40:04.680 Well, of course,
00:40:05.440 queers for Palestine,
00:40:06.740 so I don't have to
00:40:07.860 tell this crowd,
00:40:08.560 you're all from Tel Aviv.
00:40:10.400 Tel Aviv is one of
00:40:11.800 the most queer-friendly
00:40:12.860 places in the world,
00:40:13.920 short of Montreal,
00:40:15.420 my home city,
00:40:16.720 New York,
00:40:17.720 San Francisco.
00:40:18.980 Tel Aviv is one
00:40:19.700 of the most,
00:40:20.620 you know,
00:40:21.020 gay and LGBTQ-friendly
00:40:23.260 societies you could
00:40:25.140 think of.
00:40:25.680 So we've got
00:40:26.280 Tel Aviv,
00:40:27.660 or we've got
00:40:29.040 noble,
00:40:29.800 beautiful
00:40:30.280 Gaza city,
00:40:31.660 right?
00:40:32.440 Now, if I am queer,
00:40:34.340 which, hey,
00:40:34.880 more power to you,
00:40:36.280 and therefore I present
00:40:37.540 myself to the world
00:40:39.040 through my queer
00:40:39.680 identity,
00:40:41.040 should I be more
00:40:42.600 in support
00:40:43.340 of a place
00:40:44.380 that would honor
00:40:45.700 and respect
00:40:46.460 and celebrate me
00:40:47.460 like in Tel Aviv?
00:40:49.000 Or should I go
00:40:50.480 to a place
00:40:51.140 where I'm here
00:40:52.060 to tell you
00:40:52.660 they've come up
00:40:53.660 with a 100%
00:40:55.340 effective
00:40:56.540 conversion therapy
00:40:58.180 program?
00:40:58.700 It's a gravity-based
00:40:59.780 conversion therapy
00:41:00.600 program.
00:41:03.100 We throw you
00:41:04.320 off the highest
00:41:05.260 mountain or building
00:41:06.520 and that solves
00:41:07.980 your queerness.
00:41:09.380 Well,
00:41:09.820 that's what
00:41:10.320 wood cricket 0.93
00:41:10.920 queer people do. 0.58
00:41:13.100 They're very
00:41:13.980 progressive.
00:41:15.500 Or,
00:41:16.300 you've got
00:41:16.880 wood cricket
00:41:17.640 Jewish
00:41:18.320 Anna Epstein,
00:41:19.660 who is so
00:41:20.460 progressive
00:41:20.940 at Boston
00:41:21.600 University
00:41:22.180 that two weeks
00:41:23.680 after October
00:41:25.140 7th,
00:41:25.920 she was caught
00:41:27.040 on, you know,
00:41:28.500 on a phone
00:41:29.040 taking down
00:41:31.020 the posters
00:41:32.180 of the
00:41:33.220 three and four
00:41:34.660 and six months
00:41:35.400 old
00:41:35.800 disgusting 1.00
00:41:37.080 Zionist 1.00
00:41:38.080 genocide 0.62
00:41:38.540 people,
00:41:39.600 the three months
00:41:40.600 old kids
00:41:41.080 who themselves
00:41:42.320 were genociders,
00:41:44.140 right?
00:41:44.360 And when she
00:41:45.120 was caught,
00:41:46.040 she said,
00:41:46.440 well,
00:41:46.980 you can't say
00:41:47.760 that I'm hateful,
00:41:48.480 I'm Jewish.
00:41:49.740 So that's what
00:41:50.780 a wood cricket
00:41:51.420 looks like.
00:41:52.260 Because if she
00:41:52.840 had been
00:41:53.280 at the Nova
00:41:54.300 Music Festival,
00:41:55.800 her progressive
00:41:56.700 credentials
00:41:57.380 would not have
00:41:58.780 protected her
00:41:59.620 from what happened
00:42:00.680 to the other
00:42:01.200 1,200 people.
00:42:03.200 Okay?
00:42:03.740 This is what
00:42:04.620 Gabor Mate is.
00:42:06.240 Anybody know
00:42:06.780 Gabor Mate?
00:42:07.640 Yes.
00:42:08.800 The granddaddy of
00:42:10.020 wood...
00:42:10.220 Oh, he's a
00:42:11.320 Holocaust survivor.
00:42:12.500 By the way,
00:42:12.940 I too am a
00:42:14.240 Holocaust survivor
00:42:15.120 because in 1943
00:42:17.020 I was a
00:42:18.820 spermatozoa
00:42:19.840 in my dad's 0.99
00:42:21.020 testicles. 1.00
00:42:23.180 So I too
00:42:24.680 am not only
00:42:25.880 a survivor
00:42:26.840 of the brutality
00:42:27.780 of the Lebanese
00:42:28.560 Civil War,
00:42:29.440 I too am a
00:42:30.460 Holocaust survivor.
00:42:31.820 Now the reason
00:42:32.300 I say that
00:42:32.900 is because
00:42:33.440 Holocaust survivor
00:42:34.840 Jewish Gabor Mate,
00:42:36.860 he was six months
00:42:38.880 old when
00:42:39.860 he was taken
00:42:40.680 from one family
00:42:41.600 and placed
00:42:42.140 with another.
00:42:42.940 And he
00:42:43.880 certainly was
00:42:45.220 not a
00:42:45.520 Holocaust survivor
00:42:46.160 because to be
00:42:46.900 a survivor
00:42:47.440 you have to
00:42:48.000 be cognizant
00:42:49.240 and conscious
00:42:49.980 of what's
00:42:50.480 happened.
00:42:51.120 Six months
00:42:51.600 old babies
00:42:52.200 don't have
00:42:52.920 that.
00:42:53.620 But he
00:42:53.960 uses that
00:42:54.940 as a
00:42:55.940 weapon
00:42:56.380 to say
00:42:57.720 I am
00:42:58.720 Jewish,
00:42:59.800 I'm a
00:43:00.380 Holocaust survivor
00:43:01.480 and I'm
00:43:02.340 here to
00:43:02.800 confirm
00:43:03.380 that the
00:43:04.360 Nazis
00:43:04.780 have nothing
00:43:06.320 on the
00:43:06.940 IDF.
00:43:08.160 They are
00:43:08.840 the real
00:43:09.260 Nazis and
00:43:09.820 you could
00:43:10.140 listen to me.
00:43:10.700 First of all,
00:43:11.120 I'm a physician
00:43:11.760 who specializes
00:43:13.000 in trauma.
00:43:14.160 Well,
00:43:14.420 by the way,
00:43:15.280 the trauma
00:43:15.800 that I faced
00:43:16.500 as a
00:43:17.100 child in the
00:43:18.240 Lebanese Civil
00:43:18.860 War should 1.00
00:43:19.620 have made me 0.98
00:43:20.140 a psychopath 0.57
00:43:20.700 and yet I 0.92
00:43:21.720 didn't grow up
00:43:22.400 to be an
00:43:22.840 addicted crystal
00:43:23.960 meth guy.
00:43:24.920 So this guy
00:43:25.780 is exactly
00:43:26.460 what a wood
00:43:27.020 cricket
00:43:27.340 looks like.
00:43:28.640 And then
00:43:30.460 we've got
00:43:30.900 here,
00:43:31.440 just for you
00:43:32.080 to realize
00:43:32.940 that it's
00:43:33.520 not only
00:43:33.940 Jews who
00:43:34.420 could be 0.86
00:43:34.720 wood cricket,
00:43:35.580 here we've
00:43:36.020 got an
00:43:36.440 incredibly
00:43:36.980 progressive
00:43:37.640 anti-racist
00:43:39.140 and feminist
00:43:39.940 Norwegian
00:43:40.960 guy who
00:43:42.100 was
00:43:42.480 sodomized, 1.00
00:43:44.840 raped, 1.00
00:43:45.560 by a 1.00
00:43:46.200 Somali
00:43:46.840 immigrant in
00:43:48.120 Norway.
00:43:49.360 Now the
00:43:49.880 Norwegians are 1.00
00:43:50.560 very kind
00:43:51.220 and empathetic
00:43:51.900 so they don't
00:43:52.400 believe in
00:43:52.960 putting sodomizers 0.99
00:43:54.020 who rape other 0.99
00:43:54.820 men in prison 0.99
00:43:55.880 for too long.
00:43:56.500 That's mean.
00:43:57.000 So after he
00:43:58.120 served a very
00:43:58.800 short sentence
00:44:00.300 he was going
00:44:01.660 to be deported.
00:44:03.560 This guy
00:44:04.220 who had been
00:44:05.980 sodomized by 0.90
00:44:07.160 this other guy
00:44:08.000 was very,
00:44:09.540 very sad.
00:44:10.640 Very,
00:44:11.260 very hurt.
00:44:11.880 Why?
00:44:12.600 Because this,
00:44:13.660 the guy who 1.00
00:44:14.180 raped him 0.97
00:44:14.940 was now going 0.99
00:44:16.060 to be sent
00:44:16.780 to Mogadishu
00:44:17.760 where he
00:44:18.440 wouldn't be
00:44:18.920 able to be
00:44:19.820 maximally
00:44:20.720 flourishing
00:44:21.380 in his
00:44:21.760 potential.
00:44:23.600 Well I'm
00:44:24.000 here to tell
00:44:24.580 you that
00:44:25.580 from evolution
00:44:26.980 psychology
00:44:27.720 we haven't
00:44:28.580 evolved the
00:44:29.160 emotional system
00:44:30.200 to empathize
00:44:31.420 with those
00:44:31.900 who sodomize 0.98
00:44:32.580 us. 0.96
00:44:35.220 Here's another
00:44:36.000 example.
00:44:36.760 Unfortunately
00:44:37.240 the title
00:44:38.460 is cut off.
00:44:39.240 It doesn't
00:44:39.640 matter.
00:44:39.900 The name
00:44:40.120 of the person
00:44:40.620 is Amanda
00:44:41.180 Kijera
00:44:41.740 if you want
00:44:42.480 to look
00:44:42.720 her up.
00:44:44.500 She's a
00:44:45.100 white woman 1.00
00:44:45.640 who dedicated
00:44:46.700 her life
00:44:47.560 to fighting
00:44:49.660 against
00:44:50.400 the stereotypes
00:44:52.140 against black 1.00
00:44:53.560 men. 0.99
00:44:54.440 It is
00:44:55.000 simply not
00:44:55.820 true.
00:44:56.400 There is
00:44:56.680 no data
00:44:57.400 that supports
00:44:58.640 apparently
00:44:59.240 anything of
00:45:00.840 the sort
00:45:01.320 that there
00:45:01.840 is black 0.99
00:45:02.760 violence. 0.94
00:45:03.880 That's not
00:45:04.180 true.
00:45:04.400 That's just
00:45:04.840 white supremacy.
00:45:06.580 So she
00:45:06.900 went down
00:45:07.380 to Haiti
00:45:07.920 to fight
00:45:09.980 against the
00:45:10.620 narrative
00:45:11.020 that black 1.00
00:45:12.260 men could be 1.00
00:45:14.120 violent.
00:45:14.840 Well one 0.98
00:45:15.960 black man
00:45:16.740 Haitian man 0.97
00:45:17.440 took her
00:45:17.900 to the
00:45:18.340 rooftop 0.99
00:45:18.700 and raped 1.00
00:45:19.880 her repeatedly 1.00
00:45:20.780 all night
00:45:21.560 and as he 0.96
00:45:22.460 was raping 0.99
00:45:23.180 her she 0.99
00:45:24.120 told him
00:45:24.680 don't you
00:45:25.580 realize that
00:45:26.400 I'm you
00:45:27.140 know a
00:45:27.480 BLM 1.00
00:45:28.080 advocate
00:45:28.660 myself.
00:45:29.240 Don't you
00:45:30.020 realize that
00:45:30.700 I'm a
00:45:31.060 Malcolm X
00:45:32.000 scholar
00:45:32.480 myself and
00:45:34.400 imagine that
00:45:35.420 didn't stop
00:45:36.400 him from 0.99
00:45:37.260 raping her. 0.98
00:45:38.620 But she
00:45:40.180 finished by
00:45:41.700 saying this
00:45:43.080 is this is
00:45:44.020 literally an
00:45:45.780 exact quote
00:45:46.740 from an
00:45:47.320 article that
00:45:47.900 she published
00:45:48.560 that she
00:45:49.820 recognized
00:45:50.720 that when
00:45:51.600 he was 0.99
00:45:52.140 raping her 1.00
00:45:53.620 it was
00:45:55.000 him who
00:45:55.960 was being
00:45:56.580 victimized 0.54
00:45:57.520 by white
00:45:58.440 supremacy
00:45:59.000 and she
00:46:00.180 was thankful
00:46:01.220 for the
00:46:02.140 experience
00:46:02.960 because it
00:46:03.800 taught her
00:46:04.540 that when a 0.97
00:46:05.380 black man 1.00
00:46:06.160 rapes her 1.00
00:46:07.060 this shows
00:46:08.160 you that
00:46:08.560 white supremacy
00:46:09.300 is a very 0.99
00:46:10.000 dangerous
00:46:10.620 reality.
00:46:12.260 That's what
00:46:12.720 this is not
00:46:13.480 my satire
00:46:14.340 this is real
00:46:15.800 this is a
00:46:16.400 real human
00:46:16.920 being.
00:46:17.340 Multiply
00:46:18.600 this kind
00:46:19.200 of distorted
00:46:19.800 thinking amongst
00:46:21.220 all of our
00:46:21.820 political class
00:46:22.780 and you get
00:46:23.660 exactly the
00:46:25.020 kind of nonsense
00:46:25.800 that you see.
00:46:26.560 Let's keep 0.77
00:46:26.880 going.
00:46:28.860 It wouldn't
00:46:29.420 be fair for
00:46:30.160 me one of
00:46:31.320 the things if
00:46:31.860 you want to
00:46:32.160 be a good
00:46:32.520 communicator is
00:46:33.840 to tailor
00:46:34.740 your message
00:46:35.620 to the audience
00:46:36.820 that you're
00:46:37.220 speaking to.
00:46:37.820 So I wanted
00:46:38.180 to give you
00:46:38.660 an example
00:46:39.220 from one of
00:46:40.280 your own
00:46:40.780 that you
00:46:41.100 could be
00:46:41.400 proud of.
00:46:42.580 I present
00:46:43.200 to you
00:46:43.740 former
00:46:44.880 doctoral
00:46:45.420 student
00:46:46.080 Tal Nitsan.
00:46:48.260 Anybody
00:46:48.540 know the
00:46:49.000 case of
00:46:49.360 Tal Nitsan?
00:46:51.000 Yes?
00:46:52.440 Okay.
00:46:53.540 Tal Nitsan
00:46:54.540 was doing
00:46:55.560 her doctoral
00:46:56.340 work at
00:46:57.100 Hebrew
00:46:57.400 University
00:46:57.980 and she's
00:46:59.360 a wood
00:46:59.660 cricket Jew 1.00
00:47:00.240 so she
00:47:01.540 wanted to
00:47:02.080 demonstrate
00:47:02.520 through her
00:47:03.160 doctoral
00:47:03.580 dissertation
00:47:04.040 that the
00:47:05.420 IDF
00:47:06.100 is committing
00:47:07.000 rampant 0.94
00:47:08.320 rape of 1.00
00:47:09.480 Palestinian 1.00
00:47:10.060 women. 0.81
00:47:10.560 It's just
00:47:11.080 orgiastic.
00:47:12.800 She goes
00:47:13.260 out and
00:47:13.860 collects all
00:47:14.620 of the
00:47:14.900 data not
00:47:15.460 just data
00:47:15.980 from the
00:47:16.420 IDF
00:47:16.940 bureau.
00:47:17.900 She goes
00:47:18.300 and speaks
00:47:18.840 to all
00:47:19.240 the
00:47:19.400 Palestinian
00:47:19.840 people
00:47:20.100 and so
00:47:20.300 on.
00:47:20.900 She
00:47:21.080 isn't
00:47:21.560 unable
00:47:22.100 to
00:47:22.880 identify
00:47:23.800 a
00:47:25.200 single
00:47:25.920 case
00:47:26.780 of
00:47:27.460 IDF
00:47:28.240 rape 0.93
00:47:28.740 on a 0.99
00:47:29.460 Palestinian
00:47:30.000 woman.
00:47:31.060 Remember
00:47:31.680 her starting
00:47:32.360 a priori
00:47:33.040 hypothesis
00:47:33.680 is I'm
00:47:34.600 going to
00:47:34.820 uncover
00:47:35.200 tons of
00:47:35.780 rape. 0.97
00:47:36.900 Do you
00:47:37.160 think that
00:47:37.740 that led
00:47:38.260 her to 0.94
00:47:38.620 having some
00:47:39.220 epistemological
00:47:40.080 humility and
00:47:40.800 say well it
00:47:41.680 looks like
00:47:42.220 my hypothesis
00:47:43.080 was falsified?
00:47:44.580 No.
00:47:45.720 You know
00:47:46.040 what she
00:47:46.380 concluded?
00:47:47.460 You could
00:47:47.940 read it or
00:47:48.620 just listen
00:47:49.160 to my
00:47:49.520 words.
00:47:50.460 She said
00:47:51.080 the fact
00:47:52.860 that not
00:47:53.660 even one
00:47:54.720 IDF
00:47:55.600 soldier 1.00
00:47:56.160 would rape 1.00
00:47:57.200 a Palestinian 1.00
00:47:58.080 woman it 1.00
00:47:59.320 shows you
00:47:59.880 the extent
00:48:00.940 of the
00:48:01.920 dehumanization
00:48:03.400 of Palestinian
00:48:04.820 women. 0.81
00:48:05.560 That they're
00:48:06.340 not even
00:48:07.020 worthy of 0.99
00:48:08.020 being raped. 0.99
00:48:10.320 So if 0.99
00:48:11.540 I raped 0.99
00:48:12.360 all the 1.00
00:48:12.800 Palestinian
00:48:13.340 women I'm 1.00
00:48:14.460 an evil 0.98
00:48:15.040 Zionist. 0.99
00:48:15.980 If I 1.00
00:48:16.700 rape none 0.99
00:48:17.620 of the 0.99
00:48:18.020 Palestinian
00:48:18.540 women I'm 1.00
00:48:19.700 equally an 0.98
00:48:20.620 evil Zionist. 0.99
00:48:21.680 It's an 1.00
00:48:22.240 unfalsifiable
00:48:23.080 premise.
00:48:24.380 All right
00:48:24.700 let's continue
00:48:25.400 with some
00:48:26.020 more examples
00:48:26.960 not specific
00:48:28.280 to Israel.
00:48:29.620 This is
00:48:30.280 AI.
00:48:31.440 AI is the
00:48:32.440 world now.
00:48:33.260 All you hear
00:48:33.780 is about AI.
00:48:34.460 By the way
00:48:34.800 my undergrad
00:48:36.120 was at
00:48:36.440 computer science
00:48:37.100 and mathematics
00:48:37.680 and we
00:48:38.500 studied AI
00:48:39.100 in 1985.
00:48:39.940 But now
00:48:41.860 AI is the
00:48:42.640 big talk.
00:48:43.840 This is
00:48:44.200 University of
00:48:44.960 Waterloo
00:48:45.400 in Canada.
00:48:46.140 University of
00:48:46.680 Waterloo
00:48:47.160 would be
00:48:47.900 the equivalent
00:48:48.560 of Cal
00:48:50.260 Tech or
00:48:51.500 MIT or
00:48:52.980 the Technion
00:48:53.700 here.
00:48:54.400 It's a
00:48:54.840 top
00:48:55.160 engineering
00:48:55.880 computer
00:48:56.840 science
00:48:57.420 university.
00:48:58.780 So you
00:48:59.120 would think
00:48:59.500 they're serious
00:49:00.300 about their
00:49:01.300 AI.
00:49:02.460 By the way
00:49:02.840 these are
00:49:03.180 literally a
00:49:03.740 screenshot.
00:49:04.480 It's not
00:49:04.860 me editorializing
00:49:06.700 it's not
00:49:07.120 me putting
00:49:07.560 my sarcasm
00:49:08.260 this is
00:49:08.660 the actual
00:49:09.400 call
00:49:10.420 for the
00:49:11.580 top
00:49:12.060 possible
00:49:12.860 chaired
00:49:13.760 professorships
00:49:14.860 in AI
00:49:16.200 at the
00:49:16.880 University of
00:49:17.600 Waterloo.
00:49:18.240 You ready?
00:49:18.800 I'm going to
00:49:19.160 read them
00:49:19.420 for you.
00:49:20.300 This is
00:49:20.680 last year.
00:49:22.080 Position
00:49:22.460 one
00:49:22.980 in any
00:49:23.860 area of
00:49:24.600 artificial
00:49:25.060 intelligence
00:49:25.720 only the
00:49:27.160 following
00:49:27.640 people can
00:49:28.480 apply
00:49:28.920 so that
00:49:29.520 we can
00:49:29.860 be
00:49:30.200 the
00:49:30.940 leading
00:49:31.280 forefront
00:49:31.800 of
00:49:32.240 artificial
00:49:32.720 intelligence
00:49:33.320 research.
00:49:34.340 You must
00:49:34.980 be
00:49:35.400 either
00:49:36.380 someone
00:49:36.820 who
00:49:37.080 self
00:49:37.420 identifies
00:49:38.040 as a
00:49:38.700 woman 0.99
00:49:38.980 so
00:49:40.000 women 1.00
00:49:40.960 who
00:49:41.160 have 1.00
00:49:41.360 penises 0.99
00:49:41.740 and 1.00
00:49:41.980 testicles 0.99
00:49:42.360 can
00:49:42.560 apply.
00:49:43.580 You
00:49:44.180 could
00:49:44.380 be
00:49:44.600 transgender
00:49:45.200 you 0.96
00:49:46.140 could
00:49:46.340 be
00:49:46.540 gender
00:49:46.940 fluid
00:49:47.320 you
00:49:47.920 could
00:49:48.100 be
00:49:48.360 non-binary
00:49:49.120 or
00:49:49.820 you
00:49:50.000 could
00:49:50.180 be
00:49:50.440 two
00:49:50.740 spirit.
00:49:52.020 This
00:49:52.620 is
00:49:52.800 the
00:49:52.980 top
00:49:53.480 engineering
00:49:54.940 school
00:49:55.460 in
00:49:55.960 Canada.
00:49:57.420 So
00:49:57.560 the
00:49:57.760 people
00:49:58.140 that
00:49:58.440 I
00:49:58.680 used
00:49:58.920 to
00:49:59.140 tell
00:49:59.580 25
00:50:00.120 years
00:50:00.600 ago
00:50:00.880 this
00:50:01.680 is
00:50:01.840 going
00:50:02.060 to
00:50:02.280 go
00:50:02.460 bad
00:50:02.840 they
00:50:03.060 say
00:50:03.160 oh
00:50:03.320 come
00:50:03.460 on
00:50:03.600 stop
00:50:03.840 exaggerating
00:50:04.560 this
00:50:04.960 is
00:50:05.120 just
00:50:05.320 some 1.00
00:50:05.600 bullshit 1.00
00:50:05.920 in 1.00
00:50:06.140 the
00:50:06.260 humanities
00:50:06.680 department.
00:50:07.780 I
00:50:07.880 said
00:50:08.100 no
00:50:08.460 what
00:50:09.020 starts
00:50:09.420 off
00:50:09.720 in
00:50:09.860 the
00:50:09.980 humanities
00:50:10.400 department
00:50:10.980 will
00:50:11.540 come
00:50:11.780 back
00:50:12.060 and
00:50:12.220 get
00:50:12.420 you
00:50:12.580 in
00:50:12.740 engineering
00:50:13.320 and
00:50:13.700 in
00:50:13.880 mathematics
00:50:14.400 and
00:50:14.780 in
00:50:14.960 medicine
00:50:15.360 because
00:50:16.140 the
00:50:16.460 virus
00:50:17.200 breaks
00:50:17.840 out
00:50:18.200 of
00:50:18.340 the
00:50:18.520 lab
00:50:18.800 and
00:50:19.260 that's
00:50:19.480 exactly
00:50:19.860 what
00:50:20.080 we
00:50:20.240 see.
00:50:21.460 This
00:50:21.700 is
00:50:21.840 at
00:50:21.960 my
00:50:22.140 own
00:50:22.580 University
00:50:23.560 of
00:50:23.820 Concordia
00:50:24.340 in
00:50:24.520 Canada.
00:50:25.600 The
00:50:25.700 top
00:50:26.100 one
00:50:26.460 is
00:50:26.960 part
00:50:27.440 of
00:50:27.860 the
00:50:28.200 five
00:50:28.800 year
00:50:29.180 mission
00:50:29.920 statement
00:50:30.460 of
00:50:30.840 the
00:50:31.020 university.
00:50:31.600 Number
00:50:32.200 one
00:50:32.720 on
00:50:33.240 that
00:50:33.500 mission
00:50:33.820 statement
00:50:34.360 is
00:50:35.400 to
00:50:35.660 indigenize 0.85
00:50:36.800 and
00:50:37.520 decolonize
00:50:38.780 every
00:50:39.740 single
00:50:40.580 discipline
00:50:41.360 at the
00:50:41.780 university.
00:50:42.860 And
00:50:43.300 if you
00:50:43.680 don't
00:50:43.860 know
00:50:44.020 what
00:50:44.200 those
00:50:44.400 words
00:50:44.680 mean
00:50:45.040 it's
00:50:45.720 good
00:50:45.920 you
00:50:46.180 shouldn't
00:50:46.440 know
00:50:46.580 what
00:50:46.720 they
00:50:46.840 mean.
00:50:47.740 That
00:50:48.080 means
00:50:48.540 if
00:50:49.400 you're
00:50:49.620 studying
00:50:49.980 evolutionary
00:50:50.560 psychology
00:50:51.320 how
00:50:52.260 can
00:50:52.620 you
00:50:52.820 learn
00:50:53.300 from
00:50:53.880 your
00:50:54.140 indigenous
00:50:54.780 elders? 0.73
00:50:56.160 How
00:50:56.620 can
00:50:56.900 you
00:50:57.080 learn
00:50:57.400 from
00:50:57.700 queer 0.99
00:50:58.100 mathematics?
00:51:00.080 So
00:51:00.640 every
00:51:01.200 single
00:51:01.660 professor
00:51:02.260 who's
00:51:02.840 teaching
00:51:03.200 in
00:51:03.500 any
00:51:03.920 discipline
00:51:04.580 if
00:51:05.300 he
00:51:05.460 or
00:51:06.160 she
00:51:06.440 is
00:51:06.660 going
00:51:06.860 to
00:51:07.060 be
00:51:07.240 true
00:51:07.500 to
00:51:07.680 the
00:51:07.840 mission
00:51:08.120 statement
00:51:08.720 have
00:51:09.680 to
00:51:09.880 find
00:51:10.220 ways
00:51:10.640 to
00:51:11.080 decolonize
00:51:12.080 and
00:51:12.400 indigenize 0.85
00:51:13.140 their
00:51:13.440 curriculum
00:51:14.280 and
00:51:14.720 their
00:51:14.900 pedagogy.
00:51:16.420 And
00:51:16.540 an
00:51:16.700 example
00:51:17.120 of
00:51:17.400 that
00:51:17.680 at
00:51:17.920 the
00:51:18.120 bottom
00:51:18.560 here
00:51:18.800 I
00:51:18.940 know
00:51:19.080 you
00:51:19.220 probably
00:51:19.480 can't
00:51:19.760 read
00:51:19.900 it
00:51:20.000 so
00:51:20.120 I'll
00:51:20.280 explain
00:51:20.680 it
00:51:20.920 some
00:51:22.120 researchers
00:51:22.800 won
00:51:23.280 a
00:51:23.560 five
00:51:23.940 year
00:51:24.300 research
00:51:25.100 grant
00:51:25.540 to
00:51:26.080 indigenize 0.85
00:51:27.380 light.
00:51:29.440 So
00:51:30.320 the
00:51:31.660 physics
00:51:32.120 of
00:51:32.420 optics
00:51:32.960 you
00:51:33.600 know
00:51:33.740 many
00:51:34.080 famous
00:51:34.720 scientists
00:51:35.380 some
00:51:36.780 won
00:51:37.080 Nobel
00:51:37.440 prizes
00:51:37.900 studying
00:51:38.620 the
00:51:38.940 optics
00:51:40.060 properties
00:51:40.700 the
00:51:41.060 physics
00:51:41.420 properties
00:51:41.940 of
00:51:42.240 light
00:51:42.580 apparently
00:51:43.760 they're
00:51:44.520 tainted
00:51:45.020 because
00:51:45.740 they
00:51:46.020 suffered
00:51:46.420 from
00:51:46.780 dermatological
00:51:48.040 original
00:51:48.540 sin.
00:51:49.680 But
00:51:49.960 now
00:51:50.480 if we
00:51:50.960 can
00:51:51.140 incorporate
00:51:51.920 indigenous
00:51:52.620 thinking
00:51:53.240 into
00:51:53.620 studying
00:51:54.040 light
00:51:54.420 then we
00:51:55.020 can
00:51:55.180 all
00:51:55.420 be
00:51:55.580 enriched.
00:51:56.020 This
00:51:56.580 is
00:51:56.760 happening
00:51:57.160 in
00:51:57.380 the
00:51:57.520 21st
00:51:58.120 century
00:51:58.520 at
00:51:59.140 one
00:51:59.320 of
00:51:59.420 the
00:51:59.540 leading
00:51:59.800 universities
00:52:00.340 in
00:52:00.640 Canada.
00:52:01.980 In
00:52:02.520 chapter
00:52:02.880 six
00:52:03.260 of
00:52:03.380 the
00:52:03.520 parasitic 0.99
00:52:03.960 mind 0.97
00:52:04.340 I
00:52:04.540 introduce
00:52:04.900 a
00:52:05.120 principle
00:52:05.440 called
00:52:05.900 ostrich
00:52:06.500 parasitic
00:52:07.060 syndrome.
00:52:08.020 For
00:52:08.100 those
00:52:08.340 of you
00:52:08.540 who
00:52:08.680 don't
00:52:08.920 know
00:52:09.240 the
00:52:10.300 ostrich
00:52:10.960 actually
00:52:11.300 doesn't
00:52:11.700 do
00:52:11.860 this
00:52:12.160 but
00:52:12.720 it's
00:52:12.900 become
00:52:13.260 a
00:52:13.600 metaphor
00:52:13.960 for
00:52:14.400 putting
00:52:14.700 your
00:52:14.940 head 0.64
00:52:15.180 in
00:52:15.320 the
00:52:15.480 sand
00:52:15.760 so
00:52:16.220 that
00:52:16.400 you
00:52:16.560 don't
00:52:16.780 hear
00:52:17.400 reality.
00:52:18.680 So
00:52:18.760 let
00:52:18.960 me
00:52:19.060 mention
00:52:19.340 something
00:52:19.720 here
00:52:19.980 that
00:52:20.220 is
00:52:20.640 going
00:52:20.900 to
00:52:21.300 ring
00:52:23.060 relevant
00:52:23.900 to
00:52:24.200 this
00:52:24.440 audience
00:52:24.840 given
00:52:25.140 the
00:52:25.700 neighborhood
00:52:26.020 that
00:52:26.260 you
00:52:26.360 live
00:52:26.540 in.
00:52:27.280 There
00:52:27.500 have
00:52:27.740 been
00:52:28.040 and I
00:52:28.420 just
00:52:28.840 updated
00:52:29.280 this
00:52:29.580 usually
00:52:30.240 every
00:52:30.580 couple
00:52:30.860 of
00:52:30.980 days
00:52:31.140 I
00:52:31.240 have
00:52:31.400 to
00:52:31.500 update
00:52:31.800 it
00:52:32.020 because
00:52:32.580 the
00:52:32.800 noble
00:52:33.080 Muslims
00:52:33.520 are
00:52:34.140 very
00:52:34.400 good
00:52:34.640 at
00:52:34.900 peacefully
00:52:35.360 engaging
00:52:36.100 in
00:52:36.440 Islamic
00:52:37.120 terrorism.
00:52:38.260 This
00:52:38.900 is a
00:52:39.520 lower
00:52:40.520 estimate.
00:52:41.260 There
00:52:41.340 are
00:52:41.500 other
00:52:41.800 databases
00:52:42.400 that
00:52:42.720 place
00:52:43.000 the
00:52:43.140 number
00:52:43.360 much
00:52:43.620 higher.
00:52:43.940 So
00:52:44.020 whatever
00:52:44.260 number
00:52:44.560 I'm
00:52:44.740 giving
00:52:44.960 you
00:52:45.260 is
00:52:45.900 a
00:52:46.100 conservative
00:52:46.860 estimate.
00:52:48.200 So
00:52:48.260 this
00:52:48.500 particular
00:52:48.960 database
00:52:49.680 has
00:52:50.240 48,782
00:52:55.740 Islamic
00:52:56.660 terror
00:52:57.140 attacks
00:52:57.720 since
00:52:58.520 9-11
00:52:59.420 alone
00:53:00.060 in
00:53:00.680 nearly
00:53:01.120 70
00:53:02.040 countries.
00:53:03.700 Nearly
00:53:04.000 50,000
00:53:05.300 attacks.
00:53:06.240 All
00:53:06.620 other
00:53:07.040 religions
00:53:07.600 combined
00:53:08.220 you can't
00:53:09.120 add up
00:53:09.560 on two
00:53:10.340 fingers.
00:53:11.600 Right?
00:53:12.060 So you
00:53:12.820 would think
00:53:13.380 that there
00:53:13.920 is data
00:53:14.640 that we
00:53:15.500 could come
00:53:15.900 to that
00:53:16.280 conclusion.
00:53:17.400 On the
00:53:17.980 left
00:53:18.360 I have
00:53:19.100 posted
00:53:19.560 for you
00:53:20.080 this
00:53:20.360 is not
00:53:20.680 satirical
00:53:21.320 I could
00:53:22.720 give you
00:53:23.040 all of
00:53:23.400 the
00:53:23.520 references
00:53:23.980 what
00:53:24.960 western
00:53:25.840 thinkers
00:53:26.620 try to
00:53:27.980 offer
00:53:28.560 as the
00:53:29.460 real
00:53:29.900 reasons
00:53:30.420 of those
00:53:31.020 Islamic
00:53:31.480 terror
00:53:31.820 attacks.
00:53:32.220 I won't
00:53:32.520 mention
00:53:32.820 all of
00:53:33.160 them
00:53:33.300 but I'll
00:53:33.980 mention
00:53:34.220 a few
00:53:34.740 that are
00:53:35.320 some
00:53:35.540 of my
00:53:35.920 favorites.
00:53:37.400 Did
00:53:37.860 you for
00:53:38.240 example
00:53:38.700 know
00:53:39.260 that the
00:53:40.580 terror
00:53:41.220 attack
00:53:41.700 that
00:53:41.940 happened
00:53:42.420 with
00:53:43.520 some
00:53:43.740 terrorists
00:53:44.180 in
00:53:45.460 2016
00:53:46.720 and
00:53:47.860 they
00:53:48.080 hailed
00:53:48.420 from
00:53:48.800 outside
00:53:50.220 of
00:53:50.720 Brussels
00:53:51.220 Islamic 1.00
00:53:52.060 terrorists 1.00
00:53:52.580 it turns
00:53:53.600 out
00:53:53.880 look at
00:53:54.280 the
00:53:54.680 fourth
00:53:55.920 one
00:53:56.280 lack
00:53:57.680 of
00:53:58.000 adequate
00:53:58.640 exposure
00:53:59.520 to art
00:54:00.200 so for
00:54:01.260 example
00:54:01.740 one of
00:54:03.040 the reasons
00:54:03.580 why I
00:54:04.020 make sure
00:54:04.580 to always
00:54:05.740 take our
00:54:06.780 children to
00:54:07.440 museums
00:54:08.080 is because
00:54:09.220 if I don't
00:54:10.020 expose them
00:54:10.640 to enough
00:54:11.080 Chagall and
00:54:11.700 Picasso
00:54:12.180 they might
00:54:13.340 go ahead
00:54:13.760 and join
00:54:14.200 ISIS
00:54:14.720 because there's
00:54:16.440 a very
00:54:16.780 direct line
00:54:17.720 between
00:54:18.220 Islamic
00:54:18.840 terror
00:54:19.260 attacks
00:54:19.700 putting
00:54:20.020 bombs
00:54:20.420 on
00:54:20.680 buses
00:54:21.140 and not
00:54:22.080 being
00:54:22.300 exposed
00:54:22.660 to enough
00:54:23.060 art
00:54:23.360 or
00:54:23.780 beard
00:54:24.920 bullying
00:54:25.360 so that's
00:54:27.180 why I
00:54:27.500 keep my
00:54:27.960 beard
00:54:28.320 very
00:54:28.960 tight
00:54:29.700 because
00:54:30.560 it's a
00:54:31.140 very
00:54:31.360 short
00:54:31.680 step
00:54:31.980 for me
00:54:32.360 to join
00:54:32.980 Al-Nusra
00:54:34.600 and each
00:54:37.220 by the way
00:54:37.700 I'll just
00:54:38.020 mention one
00:54:38.520 more
00:54:38.740 climate
00:54:39.240 change
00:54:39.780 Bill Nye
00:54:40.660 the science
00:54:41.280 guy
00:54:41.660 explained
00:54:42.620 to us
00:54:43.120 that the
00:54:43.840 Bataclan
00:54:44.520 terror attack
00:54:45.740 that killed
00:54:46.240 nearly 200
00:54:46.980 people in
00:54:47.720 Paris
00:54:48.100 was very
00:54:49.200 conceivably
00:54:49.940 linked to
00:54:50.480 solar panels
00:54:51.600 that's what
00:54:53.620 a parasitic 0.99
00:54:54.260 mind looks 0.94
00:54:54.740 like
00:54:54.980 no amount
00:54:56.120 of evidence
00:54:56.860 that they
00:54:57.280 could ever
00:54:57.740 be shown
00:54:58.280 could lead
00:54:58.780 them to
00:54:59.120 say
00:54:59.400 well there
00:55:00.160 might be
00:55:00.780 a statistical
00:55:01.440 difference
00:55:02.160 across
00:55:02.840 religions
00:55:03.440 in terms
00:55:04.220 of the
00:55:04.540 likelihood
00:55:04.940 of engaging
00:55:06.020 in political
00:55:07.140 terrorism
00:55:07.740 no that
00:55:08.920 can't be
00:55:09.460 for some
00:55:10.560 of you
00:55:10.960 who may
00:55:11.700 or may
00:55:11.960 not know
00:55:12.520 over the
00:55:13.800 past 25-30
00:55:14.780 years some
00:55:15.300 say even
00:55:15.720 longer
00:55:16.080 there has
00:55:17.100 been
00:55:17.480 they're
00:55:18.800 euphemistically
00:55:19.440 referred to
00:55:20.000 as grooming
00:55:20.500 gangs
00:55:20.860 these are 1.00
00:55:21.820 pedophilic 0.99
00:55:23.800 gang 1.00
00:55:24.780 rapists 0.98
00:55:25.440 up and
00:55:26.840 down
00:55:27.140 Britain
00:55:27.520 from very
00:55:28.660 big cities
00:55:29.380 to small
00:55:30.280 villages
00:55:30.840 the great
00:55:32.560 majority
00:55:33.040 of whom
00:55:33.640 are
00:55:34.400 Pakistani
00:55:35.320 Muslims
00:55:36.100 who reside
00:55:37.780 in Britain
00:55:38.340 yes
00:55:39.920 now let's
00:55:41.120 look at
00:55:41.500 some of
00:55:41.960 the real
00:55:42.940 culprits
00:55:43.520 of those
00:55:44.140 terror
00:55:44.940 those
00:55:45.740 gang
00:55:47.000 rapes
00:55:47.360 this is
00:55:48.640 the actual
00:55:49.760 mugshot
00:55:50.780 of the
00:55:51.860 20 guys
00:55:53.200 who were
00:55:53.740 caught
00:55:54.220 in one
00:55:55.060 town
00:55:55.500 it's a
00:55:56.300 small town
00:55:56.980 called
00:55:57.340 Huddersfield
00:55:58.020 but there
00:55:58.820 are many
00:55:59.220 many other
00:55:59.740 towns
00:56:00.120 I'm just
00:56:01.660 going to
00:56:01.920 read you
00:56:02.260 the names
00:56:02.700 of a few
00:56:03.240 of them
00:56:03.660 okay
00:56:04.320 because I
00:56:05.440 still haven't
00:56:05.940 been able
00:56:06.300 to identify
00:56:06.940 any commonality
00:56:07.980 you have
00:56:09.020 you have

00:56:24.640 and on
00:56:25.260 and on
00:56:25.640 so I
00:56:26.640 put up
00:56:27.100 on social
00:56:27.860 media
00:56:28.300 I said
00:56:28.900 look I
00:56:29.220 don't have
00:56:29.660 the big
00:56:30.160 data
00:56:30.500 analytic
00:56:31.020 mind
00:56:31.520 to be
00:56:32.320 able to
00:56:33.020 put it
00:56:34.160 all together
00:56:34.900 could somebody
00:56:36.700 help me
00:56:37.160 out
00:56:37.500 people wrote
00:56:38.620 back to me
00:56:39.220 both privately
00:56:40.140 and publicly
00:56:41.560 and concluded
00:56:43.100 who's the real
00:56:44.700 culprit 0.91
00:56:45.160 Jews 0.68
00:56:46.240 very good
00:56:47.580 they
00:56:53.360 they weren't
00:56:53.980 being facetious
00:56:54.980 they weren't
00:56:55.400 being sarcastic
00:56:56.140 they really
00:56:56.820 meant it
00:56:57.280 how did
00:56:58.880 they arrive
00:56:59.720 at the
00:57:00.200 conclusion
00:57:00.740 that when
00:57:01.820 seven
00:57:02.260 Mohammeds 1.00
00:57:03.100 gang rape 1.00
00:57:03.600 your daughter 1.00
00:57:04.160 it's
00:57:04.880 Mordechai
00:57:05.540 and Moshe
00:57:06.060 who are
00:57:06.340 to blame
00:57:06.740 how did
00:57:08.320 they come
00:57:08.640 to that
00:57:08.960 it turns
00:57:09.800 out
00:57:10.140 that
00:57:11.220 unbeknownst
00:57:11.900 to any
00:57:12.240 of us
00:57:12.700 every single
00:57:14.780 western country
00:57:16.000 that has
00:57:16.940 enacted
00:57:17.580 open borders
00:57:18.940 where they
00:57:19.820 let in
00:57:20.460 the noble
00:57:21.300 and richers
00:57:22.020 of Islam
00:57:22.640 it's
00:57:24.280 there's a
00:57:25.060 Jew behind 1.00
00:57:25.880 it
00:57:26.200 now
00:57:27.380 it doesn't
00:57:28.460 matter that
00:57:28.960 demonstrably
00:57:29.720 that's false
00:57:30.480 we don't
00:57:31.580 let facts
00:57:32.600 ruin the
00:57:33.300 narrative
00:57:33.660 so imagine
00:57:34.960 how impossible
00:57:36.000 of an
00:57:36.760 existential
00:57:37.220 situation
00:57:38.020 it is
00:57:38.620 when
00:57:40.060 if you
00:57:40.780 see three
00:57:41.500 Mohammeds 0.99
00:57:42.300 gang raping 1.00
00:57:43.220 your daughter 1.00
00:57:43.760 you don't
00:57:44.680 take a gun
00:57:45.300 and shoot 1.00
00:57:46.000 them 1.00
00:57:46.260 you start
00:57:47.020 looking for
00:57:47.660 Moshe
00:57:48.080 elsewhere
00:57:48.660 to shoot 1.00
00:57:49.440 him 0.99
00:57:49.700 because it's
00:57:50.440 not really
00:57:51.060 the three
00:57:51.500 Mohammeds 0.85
00:57:52.160 who are 1.00
00:57:52.420 gang raping 0.99
00:57:53.080 her 1.00
00:57:53.280 that are
00:57:53.840 the real
00:57:54.260 culprits
00:57:54.760 there is
00:57:55.160 a Jew
00:57:55.580 behind that
00:57:56.360 and that's
00:57:57.860 by the way
00:57:58.400 for someone
00:57:58.940 that has
00:57:59.640 my reach
00:58:00.800 it's not
00:58:01.640 one or
00:58:02.300 two people
00:58:03.040 who write
00:58:03.520 to me
00:58:03.780 with that
00:58:04.140 stuff
00:58:04.420 it's
00:58:05.120 thousands
00:58:06.140 now those
00:58:07.800 thousands
00:58:08.340 are your
00:58:09.140 teachers
00:58:09.680 your dentists
00:58:10.960 your gardener
00:58:12.200 and on
00:58:13.200 and on
00:58:13.620 so we
00:58:14.480 really do
00:58:14.960 have a
00:58:15.360 problem
00:58:15.720 now you
00:58:17.500 you could
00:58:17.980 all say
00:58:18.280 well of
00:58:18.680 course we
00:58:18.980 know this
00:58:19.300 we're all
00:58:19.620 Israeli
00:58:20.080 but now
00:58:20.840 it's
00:58:21.060 everywhere
00:58:21.540 it's in
00:58:22.240 every town
00:58:22.920 it's in
00:58:23.280 the open
00:58:23.820 I always
00:58:24.980 now say
00:58:25.740 I long
00:58:26.820 for the
00:58:27.260 beautiful
00:58:27.740 days
00:58:28.320 when I
00:58:28.940 was in
00:58:29.240 the Lebanese
00:58:29.840 civil war
00:58:30.540 given the
00:58:31.280 type of
00:58:31.880 Jew hatred 0.84
00:58:32.420 that I
00:58:32.740 now receive
00:58:33.380 where I
00:58:34.560 have to
00:58:35.040 have
00:58:35.580 bodyguards
00:58:36.780 with machine
00:58:37.320 guns around
00:58:37.860 me
00:58:38.160 why
00:58:38.780 I'm not
00:58:39.600 saying anything
00:58:40.240 so incendiary
00:58:41.440 let's do a
00:58:44.360 few more
00:58:44.880 examples of
00:58:46.100 suicidal
00:58:46.460 empathy
00:58:46.860 the reason
00:58:47.260 why I've
00:58:47.520 got the
00:58:47.800 photo on
00:58:48.180 the left
00:58:48.620 in
00:58:49.840 Quebec
00:58:51.200 towards the
00:58:53.400 end of
00:58:54.040 the COVID
00:58:54.500 epidemic
00:58:55.060 so we
00:58:55.460 already had
00:58:56.000 a lot of
00:58:56.420 data that
00:58:56.820 was saying
00:58:57.160 a lot of
00:58:57.520 it was 1.00
00:58:57.800 bullshit 1.00
00:58:58.200 the Quebec 1.00
00:58:59.160 government
00:58:59.720 instituted
00:59:00.600 a curfew
00:59:02.640 saying that
00:59:04.140 after 8 o'clock
00:59:05.660 at night
00:59:06.340 you couldn't
00:59:07.780 walk your
00:59:08.840 dog
00:59:09.400 so in
00:59:10.860 the middle
00:59:11.500 of the
00:59:12.180 cold
00:59:12.640 winters
00:59:13.160 of
00:59:13.440 Montreal
00:59:14.000 on a
00:59:15.060 deserted
00:59:15.600 street
00:59:16.280 in
00:59:16.920 Montreal
00:59:17.540 if your
00:59:18.640 dog
00:59:19.080 has
00:59:19.440 diarrhea
00:59:20.160 after
00:59:21.220 8 o'clock
00:59:22.060 you can't
00:59:22.940 walk him
00:59:23.380 out
00:59:23.720 because you
00:59:24.500 might spread
00:59:25.080 the COVID
00:59:25.540 virus
00:59:26.100 to no
00:59:26.980 one else
00:59:27.460 because there's
00:59:27.800 nobody else
00:59:28.320 around
00:59:28.620 but
00:59:30.120 when
00:59:31.500 100,000
00:59:32.740 noble
00:59:33.360 BLM 1.00
00:59:34.180 protesters
00:59:35.120 get
00:59:35.940 together
00:59:36.700 next to
00:59:37.940 each other
00:59:38.560 there is
00:59:39.800 no
00:59:40.100 possibility
00:59:40.920 of
00:59:41.200 contagion
00:59:41.700 because
00:59:41.940 when
00:59:42.180 you're
00:59:42.420 progressive
00:59:42.940 there's
00:59:43.860 an
00:59:44.100 enzyme
00:59:44.700 in
00:59:45.040 the
00:59:45.220 virus
00:59:45.640 that
00:59:46.400 protects
00:59:46.960 you
00:59:47.220 against
00:59:47.520 transmission
00:59:48.120 that's
00:59:49.460 what
00:59:49.680 suicidal
00:59:50.180 empathy
00:59:50.560 looks
00:59:50.860 like
00:59:51.140 I am
00:59:51.900 kind
00:59:52.540 to
00:59:53.020 hashtag
00:59:53.620 BLM 1.00
00:59:54.260 few
00:59:56.400 more
00:59:56.740 examples
00:59:57.240 of
00:59:57.460 suicidal
00:59:57.820 empathy
00:59:58.260 the
00:59:58.820 top
00:59:59.160 one
00:59:59.380 is
00:59:59.620 the
00:59:59.820 actual
01:00:00.580 poster
01:00:01.400 that
01:00:02.160 was
01:00:02.400 produced
01:00:02.960 by a
01:00:03.480 city
01:00:03.760 in
01:00:04.120 Germany
01:00:04.600 so
01:00:05.260 many
01:00:05.740 of
01:00:06.080 the
01:00:06.280 public
01:00:06.680 pools
01:00:07.140 in
01:00:07.400 Germany
01:00:07.840 saw
01:00:08.740 an
01:00:09.540 exponential
01:00:10.320 increase
01:00:11.360 in
01:00:11.700 sexual
01:00:12.220 assault
01:00:12.760 by
01:00:13.360 guys
01:00:13.780 named
01:00:14.120 Muhammad 0.63
01:00:14.660 so
01:00:15.800 the
01:00:16.660 city
01:00:17.260 produced
01:00:18.320 a
01:00:18.840 poster
01:00:19.340 that
01:00:20.180 said
01:00:20.540 you know
01:00:21.020 we don't
01:00:21.620 tolerate
01:00:22.180 sexual
01:00:22.880 assault
01:00:23.380 and I
01:00:24.240 swear to
01:00:24.880 God
01:00:25.200 this is
01:00:25.660 a real
01:00:26.160 poster
01:00:26.680 it's
01:00:27.820 a red
01:00:28.300 headed
01:00:28.780 overweight 0.72
01:00:29.860 German
01:00:30.760 woman 0.99
01:00:31.240 that is
01:00:32.200 sexually 0.61
01:00:32.880 grabbing 1.00
01:00:33.620 the ass 1.00
01:00:34.460 of a 1.00
01:00:35.500 black
01:00:36.340 child 0.93
01:00:37.480 who
01:00:38.420 has
01:00:38.760 only
01:00:39.200 one
01:00:39.580 leg
01:00:39.980 I
01:00:41.740 literally
01:00:42.300 could
01:00:43.000 have
01:00:43.280 had
01:00:43.860 one
01:00:44.240 page
01:00:44.660 in
01:00:44.840 my
01:00:45.040 book
01:00:45.260 suicidal
01:00:45.800 empathy
01:00:46.300 that
01:00:47.000 poster
01:00:47.600 and that
01:00:48.260 would
01:00:48.400 have
01:00:48.480 been
01:00:48.620 enough
01:00:48.880 for
01:00:49.020 the
01:00:49.160 book
01:00:49.400 okay
01:00:50.540 let's
01:00:51.220 look at
01:00:51.460 a few
01:00:51.700 more
01:00:52.040 do
01:00:52.580 do you
01:00:52.660 know
01:00:52.780 the
01:00:52.960 middle
01:00:53.180 one
01:00:53.420 what
01:00:53.580 it
01:00:53.700 is
01:00:53.880 don't
01:00:55.560 touch
01:00:55.840 my
01:00:56.100 nono
01:00:56.460 square
01:00:56.800 so
01:00:58.120 in a
01:00:58.660 in a
01:00:59.120 town
01:00:59.420 in
01:00:59.680 Finland
01:01:00.080 they
01:01:01.100 came
01:01:01.500 up
01:01:01.800 with
01:01:02.140 a
01:01:02.400 very
01:01:02.920 cool
01:01:03.420 viral
01:01:04.020 clip
01:01:04.580 that
01:01:05.220 says
01:01:05.600 don't
01:01:06.640 touch
01:01:07.020 my
01:01:07.540 nono
01:01:08.040 square
01:01:08.400 because
01:01:09.080 when
01:01:09.380 Ahmad
01:01:09.760 comes
01:01:10.220 at
01:01:10.540 you
01:01:10.820 and
01:01:11.280 you
01:01:11.440 break
01:01:11.820 out
01:01:12.100 into
01:01:12.460 a
01:01:12.700 coordinated
01:01:13.280 dance
01:01:13.780 he
01:01:13.920 goes
01:01:14.020 oh
01:01:14.240 I'm
01:01:14.720 not
01:01:14.880 touching
01:01:15.200 that
01:01:15.500 don't
01:01:16.760 don't
01:01:17.120 touch
01:01:17.360 my
01:01:17.580 nono
01:01:17.920 square
01:01:18.140 that's
01:01:18.680 the
01:01:18.860 kind
01:01:19.220 of
01:01:19.460 mindset
01:01:20.240 that
01:01:20.600 you
01:01:20.720 have
01:01:20.960 when
01:01:21.140 you're
01:01:21.340 parasitized
01:01:22.280 look
01:01:23.420 at the

01:01:24.660 right
01:01:25.020 refugees
01:01:25.720 welcome
01:01:26.180 it's
01:01:26.440 going to
01:01:26.640 go
01:01:26.780 well
01:01:27.020 for
01:01:27.200 him
01:01:27.380 this
01:01:29.260 is
01:01:29.460 an
01:01:29.680 actual
01:01:30.220 minister
01:01:31.100 she
01:01:32.300 has
01:01:32.640 a
01:01:32.860 we
01:01:33.140 are

01:01:33.720 Muslims
01:01:34.240 she's
01:01:35.200 very
01:01:35.400 kind
01:01:35.780 this
01:01:37.080 is
01:01:37.260 a
01:01:37.400 guy
01:01:37.800 who's
01:01:38.240 been
01:01:38.440 arrested
01:01:38.860 I
01:01:39.080 don't
01:01:39.180 know
01:01:39.300 how
01:01:39.460 many
01:01:39.620 maybe
01:01:39.860 75
01:01:40.400 times
01:01:41.060 but
01:01:41.920 it's
01:01:42.120 unfair
01:01:42.540 let's
01:01:43.180 give
01:01:43.340 him
01:01:43.440 a
01:01:43.540 76
01:01:44.000 chance
01:01:44.740 let's
01:01:45.360 be
01:01:45.600 kind
01:01:46.400 to
01:01:46.940 noble
01:01:47.280 felons 1.00
01:01:48.140 don't
01:01:48.780 stop
01:01:49.800 or

01:01:50.700 any
01:01:51.400 of
01:01:51.700 the
01:01:52.040 homeless
01:01:52.920 guys
01:01:53.480 even
01:01:53.900 though
01:01:54.260 our
01:01:54.560 children
01:01:54.880 can
01:01:55.180 no
01:01:55.360 longer
01:01:55.660 play
01:01:55.940 at
01:01:56.100 the

01:01:56.520 because
01:01:57.080 when
01:01:57.300 it
01:01:57.460 comes
01:01:57.680 to

01:01:58.380 of

01:02:03.120 for
01:02:03.280 17
01:02:03.640 years
01:02:04.040 is
01:02:04.480 a
01:02:04.600 lot
01:02:04.760 more
01:02:04.960 important
01:02:05.340 than
01:02:05.580 your
01:02:05.740 children
01:02:06.040 being
01:02:06.300 able
01:02:06.540 to
01:02:06.680 go
01:02:06.800 to
01:02:06.940 the

01:02:07.380 a
01:02:08.100 few
01:02:08.280 more
01:02:08.520 examples
01:02:09.040 and
01:02:09.200 I
01:02:09.320 promise
01:02:09.680 I'm
01:02:09.900 done
01:02:10.160 the

01:02:16.180 the
01:02:16.480 US
01:02:17.040 government
01:02:17.500 the

01:02:21.440 she

01:02:22.580 now
01:02:23.000 she's
01:02:23.300 a
01:02:23.480 justice
01:02:23.860 she's
01:02:24.300 the
01:02:24.460 last
01:02:24.880 addition
01:02:25.880 to
01:02:26.520 the
01:02:26.700 US
01:02:27.020 Supreme
01:02:27.420 Court
01:02:27.880 when
01:02:28.500 she
01:02:28.760 was
01:02:29.040 asked
01:02:29.500 by
01:02:29.760 the
01:02:30.040 senator
01:02:30.380 on
01:02:30.680 the
01:02:30.820 right
01:02:31.140 can
01:02:32.020 you
01:02:32.340 define
01:02:33.160 what
01:02:33.360 a
01:02:33.500 woman 0.99
01:02:33.720 is
01:02:34.000 now
01:02:34.180 the
01:02:34.360 reason
01:02:34.560 she
01:02:34.740 did
01:02:34.920 it
01:02:35.040 it's
01:02:35.120 not
01:02:35.260 because
01:02:35.520 she's
01:02:35.760 being
01:02:36.020 cool
01:02:36.420 and
01:02:36.580 a
01:02:36.720 troll 0.95
01:02:37.020 it's 0.94
01:02:37.620 because
01:02:37.860 if
01:02:38.100 you're
01:02:38.360 a
01:02:38.500 US
01:02:38.840 justice
01:02:39.400 you're
01:02:40.280 going
01:02:40.500 to
01:02:40.700 have
01:02:40.920 to
01:02:41.100 adjudicate
01:02:41.760 cases
01:02:42.280 that
01:02:42.800 involve
01:02:43.240 these
01:02:43.520 things
01:02:43.840 called
01:02:44.240 men
01:02:44.540 and
01:02:44.740 women 1.00
01:02:45.040 but
01:02:46.020 if
01:02:46.200 you're
01:02:46.500 unwilling
01:02:47.000 to
01:02:47.380 define
01:02:47.880 what
01:02:48.260 constitutes
01:02:48.820 a
01:02:48.980 woman 0.99
01:02:49.200 as
01:02:49.540 she
01:02:49.840 was
01:02:50.200 remember
01:02:50.720 what
01:02:50.940 she
01:02:51.060 answered
01:02:51.440 I'm
01:02:53.900 not
01:02:54.040 a
01:02:54.200 biologist
01:02:54.760 so
01:02:55.580 for
01:02:55.720 example
01:02:56.140 when
01:02:56.580 I
01:02:56.820 see
01:02:57.200 a
01:02:57.560 giraffe
01:02:58.220 or
01:02:58.680 a
01:02:58.900 dog
01:02:59.320 I'm
01:03:00.060 unable
01:03:00.640 to
01:03:01.000 navigate
01:03:01.420 through
01:03:01.720 this
01:03:01.920 conundrum
01:03:02.380 because
01:03:02.740 I'm
01:03:02.920 not
01:03:03.080 a
01:03:03.240 vet
01:03:03.480 so
01:03:04.780 that's
01:03:05.460 why
01:03:05.680 we
01:03:06.100 actually
01:03:06.660 ended
01:03:07.040 up
01:03:07.440 bringing
01:03:07.880 in
01:03:08.160 as a
01:03:08.460 pet
01:03:08.660 a
01:03:08.880 very
01:03:09.160 big
01:03:09.440 giraffe
01:03:09.920 because
01:03:10.380 I
01:03:10.520 thought
01:03:10.720 it
01:03:10.840 was
01:03:11.000 a
01:03:11.160 dog
01:03:11.520 because
01:03:12.220 I
01:03:12.360 didn't
01:03:12.620 know
01:03:12.980 I'm
01:03:13.360 not
01:03:13.480 a
01:03:13.620 vet
01:03:13.860 so
01:03:15.420 until
01:03:15.980 15
01:03:16.740 minutes
01:03:17.120 ago

01:03:21.160 that

01:03:21.660 lived
01:03:21.920 on
01:03:22.080 earth
01:03:22.220 that's
01:03:22.480 an
01:03:22.580 actual
01:03:22.920 real
01:03:23.240 estimate
01:03:23.640 there
01:03:24.180 had
01:03:24.340 been
01:03:24.480 117
01:03:25.420 billion 0.62

01:03:28.520 the

01:03:30.000 years
01:03:30.340 they
01:03:30.980 all
01:03:31.380 seem
01:03:31.660 to
01:03:31.840 be
01:03:32.020 able
01:03:32.320 to
01:03:32.600 fully
01:03:33.080 navigate
01:03:33.700 the
01:03:34.200 very
01:03:34.560 difficult
01:03:35.120 and
01:03:35.400 complex
01:03:35.880 conundrum
01:03:36.440 of
01:03:36.980 how
01:03:37.260 to
01:03:37.480 find
01:03:37.800 the
01:03:38.000 mates
01:03:38.340 but
01:03:39.200 we
01:03:39.380 no
01:03:39.560 longer
01:03:39.900 do
01:03:40.140 that
01:03:40.440 as
01:03:40.800 this
01:03:41.080 justice
01:03:41.460 explained
01:03:41.920 to
01:03:42.100 us
01:03:42.340 when
01:03:42.920 you
01:03:43.120 hear
01:03:43.460 her
01:03:43.700 in
01:03:43.920 some
01:03:44.140 of
01:03:44.320 her
01:03:44.620 conversations
01:03:45.740 you
01:03:46.480 think
01:03:46.920 she
01:03:47.180 is
01:03:47.480 a 0.99

01:03:58.720 we
01:03:59.280 finish
01:03:59.600 with

01:04:40.560 explained
01:04:41.220 that
01:04:41.880 this
01:04:42.180 idea
01:04:42.700 that
01:04:43.100 it
01:04:43.800 is
01:04:43.980 unhealthy
01:04:44.700 to
01:04:45.100 be
01:04:45.480 overweight
01:04:46.480 is
01:04:47.400 actually
01:04:48.000 deeply
01:04:48.840 rooted
01:04:49.280 in
01:04:49.880 white
01:04:50.140 supremacy 0.94
01:04:50.760 which
01:04:52.480 is a
01:04:52.940 real
01:04:53.100 problem
01:04:53.480 for me
01:04:53.820 because
01:04:54.220 I
01:04:54.700 had
01:04:54.900 after
01:04:55.820 my
01:04:56.080 soccer
01:04:56.340 career
01:04:56.660 when
01:04:56.860 I
01:04:56.960 was
01:04:57.100 very
01:04:57.300 thin
01:04:57.600 I
01:04:58.060 put
01:04:58.280 on
01:04:58.480 a
01:04:58.640 lot
01:04:58.780 of
01:04:58.900 weight
01:04:59.140 and
01:04:59.680 then
01:04:59.840 I
01:05:00.000 lost
01:05:00.340 all
01:05:00.580 my
01:05:00.740 weight
01:05:01.000 I
01:05:01.440 didn't
01:05:04.020 me
01:05:04.160 being
01:05:04.360 a
01:05:04.520 neo
01:05:04.720 Nazi
01:05:05.040 and
01:05:06.580 then
01:05:06.780 the
01:05:06.980 right
01:05:07.280 one
01:05:07.660 is
01:05:07.980 another 0.99
01:05:08.420 black 0.96
01:05:09.080 professor 0.78
01:05:09.580 who
01:05:10.400 I
01:05:10.640 think
01:05:10.880 is
01:05:11.040 also
01:05:11.360 trans
01:05:11.900 or
01:05:12.080 whatever
01:05:12.640 queer 0.99
01:05:13.160 or 0.66
01:05:13.320 something
01:05:13.540 and
01:05:14.220 she
01:05:14.540 basically
01:05:15.040 said
01:05:15.540 that
01:05:16.360 having
01:05:18.140 children
01:05:18.880 in a
01:05:19.700 world
01:05:20.120 filled
01:05:20.640 with
01:05:20.900 transphobia
01:05:21.740 and where
01:05:22.260 climate
01:05:22.980 change
01:05:23.620 uniquely
01:05:24.220 affects
01:05:25.000 trans
01:05:25.780 people
01:05:26.140 of
01:05:26.360 color
01:05:26.720 and
01:05:26.900 so
01:05:27.000 tsunamis
01:05:27.660 really
01:05:28.020 target
01:05:28.500 trans 0.98
01:05:28.860 people
01:05:29.180 okay
01:05:29.760 she
01:05:30.880 has
01:05:31.200 now
01:05:31.560 developed
01:05:32.120 a
01:05:32.360 theoretical
01:05:32.760 framework
01:05:33.280 why
01:05:33.720 it
01:05:34.200 is
01:05:34.340 actually
01:05:34.760 terribly
01:05:35.360 wrong
01:05:35.780 for
01:05:36.200 human
01:05:36.540 beings
01:05:36.840 to
01:05:37.000 have
01:05:37.280 children
01:05:37.720 so
01:05:38.220 the
01:05:38.380 most
01:05:38.600 fundamental
01:05:39.280 instinct
01:05:40.520 of
01:05:40.880 human
01:05:41.340 beings
01:05:41.720 which
01:05:42.120 is
01:05:42.260 to
01:05:42.420 survive
01:05:42.820 and
01:05:43.020 then
01:05:43.180 reproduce
01:05:43.600 is
01:05:44.300 now
01:05:44.560 a
01:05:44.760 manifestation
01:05:45.260 of 0.95
01:05:46.200 raping 0.99
01:05:46.580 mother
01:05:46.840 earth
01:05:47.260 so
01:05:48.180 last
01:05:49.600 slide
01:05:50.440 how do
01:05:51.380 we save
01:05:51.920 the west
01:05:52.580 let me
01:05:53.980 just read
01:05:54.420 them for
01:05:54.720 you
01:05:54.980 number
01:05:55.880 one
01:05:56.380 pursue
01:05:57.880 knowledge
01:05:58.480 unencumbered
01:05:59.340 by ideological
01:06:00.180 activism
01:06:00.980 no
01:06:01.920 knowledge
01:06:02.500 is
01:06:02.800 forbidden
01:06:03.240 if
01:06:04.100 gathered
01:06:04.540 objectively
01:06:05.160 using the
01:06:05.700 scientific
01:06:06.020 method
01:06:06.500 for example
01:06:07.340 a lot
01:06:07.860 of times
01:06:08.300 people don't
01:06:08.880 do any
01:06:09.220 sex
01:06:09.480 differences
01:06:09.920 research
01:06:10.460 because they're
01:06:11.180 afraid
01:06:11.500 what if
01:06:11.920 we find out
01:06:12.700 that men
01:06:13.580 do this
01:06:14.180 task better
01:06:14.820 than women 0.99
01:06:15.380 god forbid
01:06:15.940 you should
01:06:16.260 publish that
01:06:16.780 if you find out
01:06:17.620 that women 0.97
01:06:18.020 do something
01:06:18.540 better than
01:06:18.920 men
01:06:19.120 publish it
01:06:19.680 proudly
01:06:20.020 but if
01:06:20.600 you find
01:06:20.900 the other
01:06:21.200 men
01:06:21.760 bench press
01:06:22.400 more than
01:06:22.760 women 1.00
01:06:23.000 god damn 1.00
01:06:23.560 it 0.99
01:06:23.660 don't publish
01:06:24.180 that
01:06:24.440 that's
01:06:25.600 just
01:06:25.800 perpetuating
01:06:26.600 sexist 0.98
01:06:27.580 misogynistic 0.99
01:06:28.440 patriarchal
01:06:29.140 stereotypes
01:06:29.680 number
01:06:30.480 two
01:06:30.880 freedom
01:06:31.700 of speech
01:06:32.320 freedom
01:06:32.640 of inquiry
01:06:33.260 and the
01:06:33.560 pursuit
01:06:33.880 of truth
01:06:34.400 are
01:06:34.620 deontological
01:06:35.360 principles
01:06:35.880 for those
01:06:36.660 of you
01:06:36.840 who don't
01:06:37.120 know what
01:06:37.380 deontological
01:06:37.900 means
01:06:38.280 it's an
01:06:38.840 absolute
01:06:39.220 statement
01:06:39.660 so if
01:06:39.940 I say
01:06:40.240 it is
01:06:40.840 never
01:06:41.120 okay
01:06:41.460 to lie
01:06:41.940 that would
01:06:42.320 be a
01:06:42.620 deontological
01:06:43.220 statement
01:06:43.660 if I say
01:06:44.440 it is
01:06:44.760 okay
01:06:45.040 to lie
01:06:45.600 to spare
01:06:46.100 someone's
01:06:46.560 feelings
01:06:46.920 that would
01:06:47.600 be a
01:06:47.980 consequentialist
01:06:48.840 statement
01:06:49.160 for many
01:06:49.940 things
01:06:50.300 it's
01:06:50.540 perfectly
01:06:50.900 fine
01:06:51.180 to be
01:06:51.440 a
01:06:51.580 consequentialist
01:06:52.360 but when
01:06:52.980 it comes
01:06:53.380 to freedom
01:06:53.860 of speech
01:06:54.460 it has
01:06:55.540 to be
01:06:55.840 a
01:06:55.960 deontological
01:06:56.460 principle
01:06:56.780 you don't
01:06:57.120 say
01:06:57.320 I believe
01:06:58.060 in freedom
01:06:58.500 of speech
01:06:59.020 but as
01:06:59.920 long as
01:07:00.320 it doesn't
01:07:00.720 hurt
01:07:00.940 someone's
01:07:01.380 feelings
01:07:01.740 then you
01:07:02.240 are being
01:07:02.560 a
01:07:02.720 consequentialist
01:07:03.560 number
01:07:05.020 three
01:07:05.440 a just
01:07:06.380 society
01:07:06.980 is rooted
01:07:07.780 in the
01:07:08.220 ethos
01:07:08.620 of a
01:07:08.900 meritocracy
01:07:09.580 we are
01:07:10.420 not social
01:07:11.120 ants
01:07:11.500 why did
01:07:12.120 I say
01:07:12.940 ants
01:07:13.340 E.O.
01:07:14.540 Wilson
01:07:14.840 anybody
01:07:15.540 know
01:07:15.840 E.O.
01:07:16.160 Wilson
01:07:16.400 E.O.
01:07:18.040 Wilson
01:07:18.300 is a
01:07:19.060 Harvard
01:07:19.820 biologist
01:07:20.460 who recently
01:07:21.020 passed away
01:07:21.740 who studied
01:07:22.780 social ants
01:07:23.740 social ants
01:07:25.540 are actually
01:07:26.380 communistic
01:07:27.720 species
01:07:28.320 why
01:07:28.760 because in
01:07:29.940 social ant
01:07:30.640 society
01:07:31.100 there's a
01:07:31.780 reproductive
01:07:32.260 queen 0.69
01:07:32.780 and then
01:07:33.720 there are
01:07:34.100 two other
01:07:34.700 casts
01:07:35.320 of completely
01:07:36.380 interchangeable
01:07:37.260 parts
01:07:37.660 they're called
01:07:38.280 warrior ants
01:07:39.540 and worker
01:07:40.420 ants
01:07:40.800 so social
01:07:42.460 ants
01:07:42.860 are communistic
01:07:44.200 human beings
01:07:45.420 are not
01:07:46.200 communistic
01:07:46.960 some of us
01:07:47.840 are taller
01:07:48.440 shorter
01:07:49.320 harder
01:07:50.040 working
01:07:50.560 less hard
01:07:51.220 working
01:07:51.600 more assertive
01:07:52.580 less
01:07:52.840 that's why
01:07:53.640 we create
01:07:54.200 hierarchies
01:07:54.920 so
01:07:55.520 communism
01:07:56.300 has failed
01:07:57.300 everywhere
01:07:57.820 that it's
01:07:58.240 been tried
01:07:58.860 because it
01:07:59.780 is literally
01:08:00.660 anti-human
01:08:02.340 nature
01:08:02.740 it is
01:08:03.120 anti-the
01:08:03.740 phylogenetic
01:08:04.360 history
01:08:04.740 of the
01:08:05.080 human
01:08:05.280 species
01:08:05.660 so you
01:08:06.360 are trying
01:08:06.820 to impose
01:08:07.560 a social
01:08:08.380 structure
01:08:08.940 that is
01:08:09.340 contrary
01:08:09.740 to our
01:08:10.100 human
01:08:10.340 nature
01:08:10.740 it will
01:08:11.380 always
01:08:11.800 fail
01:08:12.120 so
01:08:12.640 meritocracy
01:08:13.440 good
01:08:13.900 social
01:08:14.640 ants
01:08:15.080 not
01:08:15.500 number
01:08:16.380 four
01:08:16.860 proudly
01:08:17.700 and
01:08:17.980 unequivocally
01:08:18.860 sorry
01:08:19.440 it's written
01:08:20.100 equivocally
01:08:20.720 I meant to
01:08:21.340 say
01:08:21.460 unequivocally
01:08:22.140 defend
01:08:22.940 western
01:08:23.360 values
01:08:23.860 be proud
01:08:24.720 of the
01:08:25.040 west
01:08:25.240 you don't
01:08:25.500 have to
01:08:25.820 self-flagellate
01:08:26.620 all day
01:08:26.980 long
01:08:27.320 number
01:08:28.240 five
01:08:28.820 all
01:08:29.440 cultures
01:08:30.000 and
01:08:30.320 religions
01:08:30.760 are not
01:08:31.840 equal
01:08:32.380 this
01:08:33.520 comes
01:08:33.960 from
01:08:34.380 cultural
01:08:35.380 relativism
01:08:36.280 cultural
01:08:36.780 relativism
01:08:37.560 is a
01:08:38.540 relativistic
01:08:39.680 position
01:08:40.160 it says
01:08:40.600 who are
01:08:41.420 you to
01:08:41.920 judge
01:08:42.420 the
01:08:43.120 beliefs
01:08:43.880 and norms
01:08:44.560 and practices
01:08:45.260 of another
01:08:45.760 society
01:08:46.320 if another
01:08:47.100 society
01:08:47.720 wishes to
01:08:48.380 cut off 1.00
01:08:48.760 the clitorises 1.00
01:08:49.480 of five 0.99
01:08:50.260 year old
01:08:50.640 girls 1.00
01:08:50.980 shut up 1.00
01:08:51.640 racist 1.00
01:08:52.060 okay
01:08:52.700 no
01:08:53.380 there are
01:08:54.460 absolute
01:08:55.020 moral truths
01:08:55.940 and defend
01:08:56.620 those
01:08:56.940 proudly
01:08:57.440 number
01:08:58.880 six
01:08:59.420 exhibit
01:09:00.460 zero
01:09:01.540 tolerance
01:09:02.260 for seditious
01:09:03.400 belief systems
01:09:04.260 I often
01:09:05.200 get people
01:09:05.980 very very
01:09:06.760 high positions
01:09:07.560 who contact
01:09:08.240 me and say
01:09:08.700 but professor
01:09:09.880 Saad the
01:09:10.540 freedom of
01:09:11.100 religion
01:09:11.540 what do
01:09:12.940 you mean
01:09:13.200 like
01:09:13.400 the
01:09:14.940 constitution
01:09:15.800 the US
01:09:16.320 constitution
01:09:16.840 has amendments
01:09:17.820 why did this
01:09:18.940 have amendments
01:09:19.600 because it
01:09:20.380 recognizes that
01:09:21.260 the original
01:09:21.940 constitution
01:09:22.640 is not
01:09:23.240 perfect
01:09:23.740 so you
01:09:24.400 have to
01:09:24.800 add amendments
01:09:25.580 so you
01:09:26.380 can't
01:09:27.080 allow your
01:09:27.780 society
01:09:28.400 to be
01:09:28.860 totally
01:09:29.280 destroyed
01:09:29.940 because any
01:09:31.060 ideology
01:09:32.020 that comes
01:09:32.600 along
01:09:33.040 masquerading
01:09:33.860 as a
01:09:34.360 religion
01:09:34.840 but that
01:09:35.720 will totally
01:09:36.380 destroy all
01:09:37.220 of us 0.98
01:09:37.480 when it
01:09:37.740 becomes in
01:09:38.240 the majority
01:09:38.840 you allow
01:09:39.820 it to
01:09:40.180 flourish
01:09:40.640 but believe
01:09:41.840 me
01:09:42.220 in academia
01:09:43.080 when I
01:09:43.660 say this
01:09:44.240 people are
01:09:45.360 so uncomfortable
01:09:46.320 because they
01:09:47.820 know an
01:09:48.560 Ahmad 0.57
01:09:48.960 who is gay 0.97
01:09:50.140 and married 0.59
01:09:50.680 to a Jewish
01:09:51.300 guy
01:09:51.620 he represents
01:09:52.640 true
01:09:52.940 Islam
01:09:53.360 number
01:09:56.700 seven
01:09:57.300 adaptive
01:09:58.340 empathy
01:09:58.980 is wonderful
01:09:59.800 suicidal
01:10:00.720 empathy
01:10:01.480 will destroy
01:10:02.680 our
01:10:02.880 civilization
01:10:03.440 and I
01:10:04.080 truly
01:10:04.740 this is not
01:10:05.480 hyperbolic
01:10:06.220 and finally
01:10:07.380 number
01:10:07.720 eight
01:10:08.120 all beliefs
01:10:09.440 all ideas
01:10:10.800 all ideologies
01:10:12.060 are open
01:10:12.780 to criticism
01:10:13.580 debate
01:10:14.320 mockery
01:10:15.460 ridicule
01:10:16.240 and other forms
01:10:17.000 scrutiny
01:10:17.540 including
01:10:18.540 of course
01:10:19.320 Judaism
01:10:19.900 including
01:10:20.680 the Israeli
01:10:22.120 policies
01:10:22.820 nothing is
01:10:23.800 sacrosanct
01:10:24.560 thank you
01:10:25.420 very much
01:10:25.860 applause
01:10:27.080 applause
01:10:28.900 applause
01:10:29.340 grace
01:10:29.820 applause
01:10:31.840 applause
01:10:32.660 applause
01:10:32.880 applause
