00:00:00.300 Hi everybody, this is Gatsad. It's been several weeks since my last Sad Truth episode.
00:00:07.420 I've been traveling quite a bit. Most recently I was last week at the Budapest Demographic Summit
00:00:17.140 held in Hungary on the invitation of the President of Hungary. I'll have more to say about that in a
00:00:24.040 future clip. But for now I wanted to weigh in very briefly on the Russell Brand story that's
00:00:31.720 unfolding where several women have apparently accused them of raping him. And here I wanted to
00:00:39.660 bring up a theme that I have mentioned on numerous occasions and certainly in my book The Parasitic
00:00:47.920 Mind where I talk about this idea of deontological versus consequentialist ethics. And I
00:00:53.480 explained that for certain inviolable principles, foundational principles such as presumption of
00:01:04.820 innocence, that has to be followed. It has to be deontological principle. And so I've seen both
00:01:14.460 sides weigh in on Russell Brand's situation. Some have said kind of the old hashtag me too.
00:01:23.100 believe all women. He's a pig. He certainly must have done it. Feather and tar him. He's done.
00:01:30.720 And of course that violates the whole principle of presumption of innocence. I've seen other people
00:01:36.220 say, no, this is all a grand conspiracy. He's going against the orthodox narrative. He's ruffling many
00:01:45.340 feathers and therefore here comes the false rape accusations. We don't know what is the truth.
00:01:50.360 my instinct is, and I have no concrete proof for this. My instinct is, is that Russell Brand is
00:01:59.740 probably not a very nice person. Every, I'm, I'm not exactly ill-equipped to judge people's
00:02:08.740 personalities. And in everything that I've seen of him, he, and even he admits that, you know, he was,
00:02:15.280 you know, quite promiscuous, but it's not so much that he was promiscuous. I can, I can sense
00:02:22.080 that he could have been someone who was quite abusive, not abusive necessarily in a criminal
00:02:27.700 sense, but that he would have been, uh, you know, viewed people as just instrumental objects for his
00:02:34.400 desire. There was a time when he could obviously attract all sorts of women. And yet he didn't have
00:02:40.520 necessarily the moral compass to say, no, I'm not going to take advantage of these situations.
00:02:45.480 Lionel Messi could probably attract more women than Russell Brand could ever fantasize about.
00:02:50.740 And yet he's a family man who, uh, you know, from all we know has been with the same woman since
00:02:55.900 childhood. Now, but this is the fact that he's promiscuous doesn't mean that he's a rapist. And so
00:03:02.400 I think it's quite, uh, unfortunate or it's, it's frankly, it's wrong for, for example, YouTube, if I'm
00:03:09.780 not mistaken, has demonetized his channel. What kind of logic is that? What kind of moral and ethical
00:03:18.680 compass it is to, it is to remove someone's revenue stream simply based on accusations. Now, those
00:03:25.920 accusations might be proven to be true in a court of law, in which case, fine, then you can take all
00:03:32.360 of the appropriate punishments that you, you see fit, but it certainly doesn't make sense. Not
00:03:38.200 withstanding, as I said, the fact that he does seem to be, uh, in terms of his personal conduct,
00:03:44.220 a shady character. And again, he's admitted to a lot of that. And, and perhaps the fact that now,
00:03:48.660 you know, he's found spirituality at 48 years old or whatever, however old he is, that could also be
00:03:54.500 because his testosterone level is now much lower. So he doesn't have the same libidinal drives to be the
00:04:00.540 sexual pig that he might've been in his past. So, you know, it's not because he found God or he's
00:04:06.340 spiritual and he now is a changed man. Lower testosterone has a way of, uh, modulating your
00:04:13.880 behavior. So for example, the best way to handle with criminal types is to let them get old. When
00:04:21.060 they get old, their testosterone goes down, they become less violent criminals. But again, that said,
00:04:26.420 the big lesson here is that it is simply grotesquely incorrect to presume that someone is guilty without
00:04:37.100 them going through the deontological process of being presumed to be innocent. The example that I've
00:04:44.080 given on numerous occasions is that Adolf Eichmann, the Nazi butcher, when the Mossad tracked them down
00:04:52.120 in 1960 in Argentina, they could have done one of two things. They could have put a, put a bullet
00:04:57.020 through his head and met a justice right there, the cover of the night without anybody knowing
00:05:04.060 anything about it, or at great personal and diplomatic costs, they could have tried to, you know,
00:05:10.420 whisk him out of Argentina back to Israel to stand trial. And that's exactly what they did. And he stood
00:05:18.080 trial, was found guilty, and then they executed him. So Russell Brand deserves that deontological
00:05:25.860 courtesy. There you have it, folks. Those are my thoughts on the Russell Brand story. Until next time,
00:05:32.600 I think the next episode, I'll probably talk about some really interesting things that happened in
00:05:39.460 Hungary on my recent trip, and more generally about some of the things that Hungary's been trying to do
00:05:45.200 in terms of promoting, you know, some, some of the things that is relevant to what I talk about on
00:05:51.820 the show on many occasions. Until next time, guys, take care. Cheers.
