00:05:23.180 So today what I'd like to do is talk about many of the ideas that I've been warning people about, as Chris mentioned, never mind for 10 years, for 25 years.

00:05:38.820 And if you really want to understand the craziness, all of the crazy ideas stem from the university ecosystem.

00:05:49.860 People are starting to pay attention, but regrettably maybe it's slightly a bit too late.

00:05:55.180 So I'll talk about the parasitic mind.

00:07:34.420 So let me tell you a bit about my childhood in Lebanon,

00:07:37.760 because in a sense, it helped me understand some of the parasitic ideas

00:07:43.400 that we now see so well entrenched in the West.

00:07:47.000 So we were part of the last group of Lebanese Jews that had remained in Lebanon until the mid-70s.

00:07:55.960 Much of my extended family had already left, most of them to Israel,

00:08:01.300 but some to France, some to Canada.

00:08:03.580 And then when the Civil War broke out in the mid-70s,

00:08:06.180 it became impossible to be Jewish in Lebanon.

00:08:08.720 And so the photo on the left is the one, actually, this is very close to where my house was in Lebanon.

00:08:15.640 And the photo on the right, regrettably, is what my childhood looked like when I was 10 and 11 years old.

00:08:26.880 The first time that I ever remember that I'm cognizant of having experienced Jew hatred in Lebanon,

00:08:34.660 many people refer to Lebanon as the Paris of the Middle East.

00:08:38.720 And as a multi, you know, pluralistic, multicultural, multi-ethnic society.

00:08:45.620 I mean, yes, in the context of the Middle East.

00:08:48.900 Tolerance in the Middle East is not necessarily tolerance as you would understand it in the West.

00:08:53.560 And so the first time that I was exposed to really a disturbing exemplar of Jew hatred 1.00

00:09:01.200 was when, if you see the gentleman there, Gamal Abdel Nasser,

00:09:05.300 who was a pan-Arabist, the president of Egypt.

00:09:08.720 Who was very much revered by all the Arab nations because he was trying to reunite all of the Arabs.

00:09:13.860 And when he passed away in 1970, I hadn't yet turned six.

00:09:17.640 He passed away.

00:09:18.720 And as often happens in the Middle East, people take to the street. 0.94

00:09:21.460 They start doing this kind of fervor and lamentations and religious incantations.

00:09:26.080 But they all kept singing as they were going down, proceeding down my street, 0.99

00:09:32.980 And I turned to my mother as a five-year-old boy and I asked her, 0.99

00:09:36.440 why are they saying death to Jews because this guy passed away? 0.99

00:09:41.480 And that was the first time that I experienced what happens in the Middle East 0.99

00:09:46.920 where every single calamity is ultimately blamed on the Jews.

00:09:50.520 And I hate to say it, that in interacting with people on social media,

00:09:55.200 that reflex has come back with full throttle, with full force.

00:11:47.440 And it was explained to him that it was time for him to retire,

00:11:56.580 He ended up leaving Lebanon in 1973 before the Civil War.

00:12:04.920 France has a big history of judo, also soccer.

00:12:10.080 Now, in 1976, ironically, when we had already emigrated to Montreal,

00:12:15.020 the 1976 Montreal Olympics happened, well, in Montreal.

00:12:20.320 And he ended up representing Lebanon in the 1976 Olympics.

00:12:25.960 So the guy who suffered from a terminal disease called being Jewish in 1973

00:12:31.320 and had to leave Lebanon, we can overlook the fact that you're Jewish 0.97

00:12:35.180 because at least you can carry the Lebanese flag.

00:12:37.760 He unfortunately ended up losing in the first round, I think, to a Bulgarian.

00:12:41.800 But again, that gives you a sense of what it is to be a religious minority

00:12:45.620 in beautiful, tolerant Lebanon.

00:13:07.500 they still had business interests in Lebanon.

00:13:15.580 And some really bad things happened to them for quite a few days,

00:13:19.700 And then luckily, because of our political connections,

00:13:24.240 So many of the hostage stories that I hear today happening,

00:13:30.840 was my childhood.

00:13:37.880 And the reason why I tell this story

00:13:39.420 is because Lebanon is the perfect model 1.00

00:13:43.940 that is organized along identity politic lines, right?

00:13:47.280 Everything in Lebanon is viewed through the prism 0.96

00:13:52.940 On your internal ID card, if the cops stop you,

00:13:57.740 or about your eye color or your weight.

00:13:59.940 The most conspicuous thing is what is your religion, right?

00:14:04.640 As a matter of fact, Lebanon,

00:14:05.960 the seats, who gets to be president,

00:14:09.780 who gets to be prime minister,

00:14:11.260 who gets to be speaker of the house,

00:14:13.160 how many seats are allotted to each members in parliament

00:14:16.460 depends on your religion.

00:14:19.600 So, you know, to see the West saying,

00:14:23.240 hey, this is a great idea.

00:14:24.420 Let's really double down on identity politics.

00:14:26.920 Well, as someone who comes from such a society,

00:14:28.820 it never ends up well for its citizens.

00:14:33.700 So last story here.

00:14:36.040 As we were leaving on that fateful day

00:14:38.600 in late October 1975,

00:14:41.880 Lebanon, for good, to move to Montreal,

00:14:44.820 as we were clearing the airspace of Lebanon,

00:14:50.120 okay, we've now cleared the Lebanese airspace.

00:14:52.360 And so my mother takes out a Star of David,

00:14:54.760 puts it around my neck and says,

00:14:56.340 well, now you can wear this, be proud of who you are,

00:14:59.240 and not hide your identity.

00:15:00.780 Now, hold on to the story.

00:15:02.580 Fast forward to a couple of weeks after October 7th, 2023,

00:15:07.940 my son, who is sitting in this room,

00:15:10.620 had gone to play a soccer match

00:15:12.440 in the east end of Montreal,

00:15:14.180 where there's a particular demographic group

00:15:17.000 that is now quite prevalent there.

00:15:18.780 And as he and my wife picked me up from the cafe

00:15:21.900 where I was working on, you know, my latest book,

00:15:25.160 he said to me,

00:15:26.060 Daddy, had you come to watch me play soccer today,

00:15:29.540 and if you were wearing a Star of David, you'd be dead.

00:15:33.140 So 45 years ago, I escaped Lebanon

00:15:36.420 so that I can finally put a Star of David.

00:15:43.240 And just to give you a sense of how bad it is in Montreal,

00:15:58.680 has been referred to colloquially

00:16:07.820 He had been stopped from speaking there back in 2002.

00:16:12.960 because the demographic realities

00:16:15.060 are such that it now empowers those people

00:16:18.540 to be able to do what they do.

00:16:20.040 So what you're seeing in terms of the college protest

00:16:22.880 with the Hamas and the Kafiyah and all this, 0.99

00:16:25.420 it's just because demography is destiny, right?

00:16:28.000 It doesn't take a fancy professor to explain to you

00:16:30.480 that if you bring in people into your society,

00:16:34.060 where according to a wide range of non-partisan surveys,

00:16:37.580 the people that are coming from those societies,

00:18:57.340 Well, to me, that seemed like a pretty obvious statement to make.

00:19:03.160 and consumers in particular, are biological beings.

00:20:10.300 So let me explain why I use this parasitic framework.

00:20:15.380 So the two greatest threats facing humanity,

00:20:19.120 certainly in our evolutionary history,

00:20:20.780 would be biological pathogens.

00:20:23.080 I mean, mosquitoes kill more people throughout history

00:20:26.940 than all other animals combined by many orders of magnitude, right?

00:20:31.920 And it's a pathogen that kills the human, 0.85

00:20:34.840 whether it be yellow fever or whether it be malaria.

00:20:38.500 So it could be fungi, it could be bacteria,

00:20:41.100 it could be viruses, it could be parasites.

00:20:45.100 Biological pathogens have killed more people

00:20:47.400 than all other things combined.

00:20:48.860 Well, in my book, I argue that human beings can be parasitized

00:20:52.880 by a second class of pathogens,

00:20:54.920 and I call these ideological pathogens,

00:20:58.120 or parasitic ideas, or idea pathogens.

00:21:01.280 And let me explain how I got that Eureka.

00:21:05.060 So in nature, you have...

00:21:08.400 The field of parasitology is the study of the interaction

00:21:11.280 between parasites and hosts.

00:21:12.860 And there are innumerable examples of that.

00:21:16.400 So for example, a tapeworm can parasitize your intestinal tract.

00:21:21.000 But a neuroparasite is one that looks to ultimately end up

00:21:26.340 in the host's brain, altering its circuitry

00:21:30.040 to typically suit its reproductive interest, right?

00:21:33.920 And so you could now see how it becomes

00:21:36.160 a very, very powerful metaphor

00:21:38.740 to then use for ideological parasitic ideas.

00:21:42.160 So if you look at the top image to the left,

00:21:46.520 you have a spider wasp,

00:21:48.880 which is much smaller than the spider

00:21:51.160 that it tries to zombify.

00:21:53.660 Once it stings it,

00:21:55.560 it renders the spider completely zombified.

00:21:59.480 It then drags it to its burrow,

00:22:05.260 and then as the eggs hatch,

00:22:07.980 they eat the spider in vivo.

00:22:15.140 Now, it's a very easy analogy to make

00:22:49.600 actually it can infect human brains,

00:22:52.540 is when it infects the brains of mice,

00:22:56.100 by this particular neuroparasite,

00:22:58.200 it loses its innate fear of cats

00:23:00.460 and it actually becomes sexually attracted

00:23:03.920 which is not a very good mating strategy
