00:00:00.720 Hi everybody.
00:00:01.240 This is Scott Saad, just returned from a incredibly jam packed trip to Europe.
00:00:09.300 And so I thought I would share some of my thoughts and, uh, you know,
00:00:14.140 remarks and comments from the trip.
00:00:16.560 Uh, first, uh, I was accompanied by the way, uh, by my wife.
00:00:22.380 Uh, so that was really nice.
00:00:23.900 Uh, the first leg of our eight day trip was to Reykjavik, Iceland.
00:00:31.620 It was a trip that was organized by a phenomenal host with whom we've become
00:00:36.920 good friends with him and his fiancee.
00:00:39.980 His name is Gulli Jansson.
00:00:42.260 Uh, he invited me to give a talk on the parasitic mind and suicidal
00:00:47.720 empathy at, uh, Harper, which is this beautiful venue.
00:00:52.340 Right on the waterfront in Reykjavik, uh, there were some security concerns.
00:00:58.440 And so it was all taken care of by my host.
00:01:01.640 Uh, I had all these strapping young Icelandic guys making sure that, uh,
00:01:08.060 nothing untoward happened to Dr.
00:01:11.040 Goodlooks.
00:01:11.720 Uh, the event was wonderful.
00:01:14.180 Big turnout sold out, uh, had a great time.
00:01:17.140 Um, I did notice, uh, that there were several places where, uh, the people from
00:01:24.220 Reykjavik apparently made it clear that they support the Gazans against the nasty
00:01:30.820 Zionist occupiers.
00:01:32.940 There was a whole mural with all kinds of stuff.
00:01:35.480 But even I went into a restaurant where there were murals that were apparently, uh, painted
00:01:42.080 by a famous Icelandic artist, you know, recounting sort of the, you know, feminist movements in
00:01:51.080 Iceland.
00:01:51.680 So it's supposed to be a historical thing, but each of those, uh, paintings had Palestinian
00:01:59.000 iconography, whether it be the Palestinian flag or the Kefiya.
00:02:03.840 Uh, and so I wasn't aware that the history of Icelandic feminism went right through the
00:02:11.720 Gazan, uh, homeland.
00:02:15.900 But that shows you what happens to a mind that is parasitized.
00:02:19.360 Uh, so there was a lot of that everywhere, you know, free Gaza, Gaza, free Palestine, and
00:02:25.240 so on and so forth.
00:02:26.340 Uh, but otherwise the trip was fantastic.
00:02:28.580 We went to the Blue Lagoon, the Sky Lagoon, uh, had wonderful, uh, dinner event.
00:02:36.880 I mean, it was really all wonderful.
00:02:38.700 After, uh, Reykjavik, we then flew to London and on the first day in London, um, I was invited
00:02:50.360 to the House of Lords by a Lord in the House of Lords.
00:02:54.540 Uh, we spent three hours with him and his wife, went to, uh, lunch in the, you know,
00:03:00.300 House of Lords, uh, section.
00:03:02.540 But as we made our way to go to the entrance of the House of Lords, there were thousands
00:03:09.480 and thousands of protesters, you know, global intifada, free, free Palestine from the river
00:03:17.380 to the sea and so on.
00:03:18.420 So you might imagine I'm trying to make my way to the House of Lords where, when there
00:03:24.180 are, you know, thousands of people with keffiyeh.
00:03:26.740 So it was very, very heartwarming to see that the noble people of London are rightfully supporting
00:03:34.240 the Gazans against the, you know, those genocidal Jews.
00:03:38.480 So that was really nice.
00:03:39.340 And I had to have police escort to enter the House of Lords in Britain.
00:03:44.000 So that was really nice.
00:03:45.380 Uh, then I had an event, uh, that evening in London, uh, with, uh, uh, Batya Argon, I
00:03:56.600 can't remember the, hold on, let me just look for the exact name.
00:03:59.940 I never, oh, Batya Angar Sargon.
00:04:02.680 And then, uh, Matt Goodwin and, uh, Eric Kaufman, who is a professor at University of Buckingham,
00:04:11.540 which I'll talk about in a second.
00:04:12.820 And he organized that event, great event, great turnout.
00:04:16.660 Uh, you know, I give a lecture there, then fielded some questions and so on.
00:04:21.040 And then from London, we drove to Buckingham, which is about an hour and something away from
00:04:28.000 London at the University of Buckingham, where there was a three-day conference, Thursday,
00:04:33.680 Friday, and Saturday morning.
00:04:35.760 I think till about around noon, uh, organized by Eric Kaufman at the University of Buckingham.
00:04:43.360 He founded the Center for Heterodox Social Science.
00:04:47.980 And the conference was about, you know, heterodox social science.
00:04:52.280 And so I spoke at that, uh, conference, uh, and then had a chance to meet the vice chancellor,
00:04:59.920 James Tooley, lovely guy, very affable, very warm.
00:05:05.340 It was great to meet him.
00:05:06.760 Um, and, you know, the University of Buckingham is a small university, but they really are trying
00:05:13.340 to set up sort of a hub, uh, where, you know, heterodox thinkers, you know, could be, could,
00:05:21.960 you know, could have a place where they could interact.
00:05:24.080 So they're trying to create a place where you could sort of do anti-woke social science,
00:05:30.040 study anti-woke issues.
00:05:32.460 All of this organized and spearheaded by Professor Eric Kaufman, who's just absolutely lovely guy.
00:05:38.960 I had a chance to meet all sorts of other people who helped, uh, Joseph Robertson, uh, Charlie
00:05:46.700 Downs.
00:05:47.320 I'm going off the top of my mind, uh, their names.
00:05:49.880 I hope I'm not getting any names wrong.
00:05:51.980 Then had a chance to meet all sorts of new people who, you know, came up to me at the
00:05:55.900 conference, uh, Kevin, I think it's McCaffrey.
00:05:59.600 Let me make sure that I don't, uh, misstate his name.
00:06:04.500 Where is he?
00:06:05.700 Hold on a second.
00:06:06.840 Yeah, Kevin McCaffrey, who is the editor of Theory and Society.
00:06:11.120 We had a very long, uh, discussion.
00:06:13.380 He is trying to, uh, incorporate Darwinian theory within sociology.
00:06:18.440 And so we had a very, very, uh, interesting conversation.
00:06:23.340 Uh, all kinds of other people that I met that were just lovely, truly.
00:06:27.580 It was just a wonderful experience to be able to immerse yourself within a gathering of
00:06:35.000 like-minded people where you're not going to be, uh, ostracized from the cool kids table
00:06:41.420 because, you know, you said something nice about Trump or you, you actually believe that
00:06:45.960 men don't menstruate and so on.
00:06:47.980 Um, so the amount of, uh, love and support and gratitude that I received was absolutely,
00:06:54.900 uh, you know, invigorating.
00:06:57.840 And so that's it.
00:06:59.280 Began with Reykjavik, went on to, uh, London, went on to Buckingham.
00:07:05.220 Um, oh, and then, uh, the last day prior to returning yesterday to Montreal, we made our
00:07:11.820 way to Oxford.
00:07:13.180 How could I forget this?
00:07:14.800 Visited Oxford University, um, and met up with Richard Dawkins at his home.
00:07:23.500 Uh, this was facilitated by the incredible, one of the absolute loveliest and sharpest guys
00:07:30.120 you can ever hope to interact with, Michael Shermer, who was filming a documentary for
00:07:35.820 his forthcoming book, Truth.
00:07:39.120 And he actually filmed me in this beautiful, austere church for the book.
00:07:43.720 He, he asked a few people, uh, to be in the documentary, uh, Richard Dawkins, David Deutsch,
00:07:50.280 myself.
00:07:51.100 And so I filmed, uh, uh, part of a documentary for, uh, Michael Shermer in Buckingham.
00:07:59.500 Um, uh, and also, uh, accepted to do an interview with Spike magazine.
00:08:06.360 But anyways, uh, so we made our way to Oxford, hung out with Richard Dawkins, uh, and also
00:08:13.140 Richard's, uh, not Richard's, um, Michael Shermer's assistant, Alex, who's another absolutely
00:08:18.640 lovely guy.
00:08:20.000 Uh, then after Richard Dawkins, we made our way to a park, uh, because Richard, um, Michael
00:08:27.200 was going to film David Deutsch.
00:08:28.880 Now, David Deutsch and I have become very friendly.
00:08:31.260 He's been on my show a few times.
00:08:33.600 One of the absolute sharpest guys that you could ever hope to talk to.
00:08:36.800 And just a, just a lovely, pure human being.
00:08:40.100 Uh, so we finally met in person, even though we had, uh, you know, he'd been on my show a
00:08:44.840 few times.
00:08:45.320 And because it was raining and we were going to film outside, uh, Richard, I keep saying
00:08:52.020 Richard, Michael and, uh, the filmmaker, the, the, the gentleman who's taking care of the
00:08:57.460 filming, Alex decided that they couldn't, you know, set up the, the equipment to film.
00:09:03.260 So what we ended up instead doing, we just stood there at the park for maybe two plus
00:09:08.040 hours.
00:09:09.360 We meaning David Deutsch, Michael Shermer, and myself just chatting.
00:09:15.840 And Alex would walk around with the cell phone and, you know, filmed the entire conversation,
00:09:22.980 which was absolutely unbelievable.
00:09:25.740 I mean, we, I mean, very, very quickly, we just got into really, really deep and profound
00:09:31.240 and meaningful issues and just went at it.
00:09:34.220 It was absolutely beautiful.
00:09:35.640 So I, my understanding is that they will be releasing both probably the entirety of our
00:09:41.160 conversation, but also many different clips and you really don't want to miss it.
00:09:45.080 So met Richard Dawkins, met David Deutsch, went to Oxford, met the vice chancellor of University
00:09:55.260 of Buckingham, visited University of Buckingham, went to the House of Lords, gave a talk at London,
00:10:00.200 gave a talk at University of Buckingham, gave a talk in Iceland.
00:10:03.660 So it was absolutely amazing.
00:10:05.700 I had to cancel my appearance at this big festival in Wales just because it, it just didn't work
00:10:11.720 out in terms of scheduling.
00:10:13.260 Tomorrow I head off for three more engagements in the United States and then back to Montreal,
00:10:20.400 buckle down and try to get some serious headway with suicidal empathy.
00:10:28.340 So there you have it, folks, a lot of great stuff happening.
00:10:31.800 I hope to meet some of you at some future event.
00:10:35.500 Thank you for all the love and support.
00:10:37.020 I'll talk to you soon.
00:10:37.680 Cheers, everybody.
