00:26:44.400 Nova Scotia. They've used it to justify censorship, surveillance,

00:26:48.580 or restrictions on basic freedoms,

00:26:50.720 all in the name of protecting people from discomfort or offense or some

00:26:55.720 type of perceived risk or harm.

00:26:58.360 And it's this culture where no risk is tolerable whatsoever.

00:27:42.000 warrants where people were arrested and detained incommunicado for for weeks there was the

00:27:50.800 detainment of an internment of japanese canadians in 1942 following japan's attack on pearl harbor

00:28:00.560 and japanese canadians were rounded up across the country and put into shacks in interior bc

00:28:07.440 without adequate heating their property was seized by the government and stole and sold

00:28:13.680 and then that money was used to finance their own internment because the government told people that

00:28:19.920 japanese canadians were too dangerous because of this you know inaccurate risk uh view that they

00:28:27.440 would be spying on canadians so they all had to be proactively put into these internment camps 0.95

00:28:34.240 there was the g20 mass arrests there's the practice of random vehicle stops where police

00:28:42.240 in the name of public safety have the power to pull over any driver on the road there

00:28:48.560 which is often administered in a way that is racially biased there was the long gun registry

00:29:01.520 criminalization of lawful gun owners it is used to it was used to justify to go full circle in

00:34:22.700 costing a lot to write it. In 2021, my husband, Mark, my kind, generous, loving, stubborn,

00:34:31.880 brilliant husband, got sick. At first, it was just a flu, but quickly it became something else,
