00:12:20.380 eligibility was cruel and unusual by nature they said not only do such punishments bring the

00:12:26.260 administration of justice into disrepute but they are cruel and unusual by nature we're not going

00:12:38.980 uh the guy in question the reason this case was brought to the supreme court in the first place

00:12:46.060 was this guy, Alexandre Bissonette, who killed six people in his attack on the Islamic Culture

00:12:51.820 Center in Quebec City back in 2017. I'm sure you have some memories of that. Bissonette will now

00:12:58.120 be eligible for parole in 25 years. Spencer says, imagine what the families and friends

00:13:03.960 of his victims are thinking. They have to face the prospect of the man who killed their loved

00:13:08.900 ones walking free one day. Now, this would never happen in the United States. I mean,

00:13:14.260 that guy would be behind bars for the rest of his life if he wasn't put to death because yeah

00:13:18.860 there's still plenty of states down there that have the death penalty but this guy i mean he

00:13:22.920 probably would have gotten six you know consecutive life sentences he would have spent the rest of his

00:13:28.880 life behind bars bisonette had been sentenced to life with no chance of parole for 40 years this
