00:21:50.960 he did acknowledge that studies have shown people who are over 65 immunocompromised or have chronic

00:23:47.080 measures specifically? Every step of the way, we make decisions based on what experts, what doctors,
00:23:55.440 what public health authorities recommend us to do. And there is the sense that these border measures
00:24:03.760 were no longer effective or no longer justified in the circumstance that we're in right now.
00:24:14.180 We know that we are seeing a slight uptick in cases in certain places, so we're going to have
00:24:20.880 to be careful and monitor carefully. But at the same time, to remind Canadians, we stepped up
00:24:28.940 during this pandemic as individuals as communities to get vaccinated uh quicker and to higher levels
00:24:35.360 than just about any other country in the world and because of that studies have shown that we
00:24:39.680 avoided hundreds of thousands of deaths because of the decisions uh the municipalities no proof

00:24:49.620 you guys that the governments of every province in the federal government for the past two years
00:24:54.020 have been absolutely lying and presenting evidence in their press releases as proven

00:25:08.480 it hasn't and if it has please show us the science and still the federal government and
00:25:16.920 provincial governments refuse to do it the media through freedom of information acts and through
00:25:23.760 the court system they refuse to show us the science that they have been going on why
00:25:28.380 because there just isn't any anyway let's continue here during this pandemic that kept people safe
00:25:36.080 right now the best thing each of us can do to prevent a resurgence of covid19 as winter
00:25:43.820 approaches is to make sure you get up to date in your vaccinations with the new formulations coming

00:49:53.240 out and it was surprising behavior coming from a veteran reporter like aiken but this story is
00:49:58.240 actually quite interesting the dust up on parliament hill between polyev and a member of
00:50:03.180 the press gallery sure doesn't look good it's an incident that plays right into polyev's narrative
00:50:09.020 that the media are biased and out to get him which to be fair many of them are but not all
00:50:15.440 and not the reporter in question. Lily says let me be up front the incident looked horrible on the
00:50:22.020 reporter in question David Aiken of Global but this isn't a case of media bias it was really
00:50:27.560 bad judgment by Aiken. I've known Aiken for more than 15 years as a fellow journalist and worked
00:50:33.620 with him in launching Sun News Networks where he hosted a show and was the parliamentary bureau
00:50:38.700 chief for the network and Sun Papers. He's one of a handful of reporters on Parliament Hill,
00:50:44.240 along with people like Robert Fyfe of the Globe and Mail or Stephanie Levitz at the Star,
00:50:48.780 who I think of as a straight shooter. He famously broke the story on Trudeau taking the vacation
00:50:54.140 to the Aga Khan's island. With this outburst on Tuesday, though, Aiken was over the top. He
00:51:01.680 wouldn't even let Polyev deliver a statement before he started yelling at him. Outside of
00:51:06.280 partisans who already don't like Polyev, most people watching the exchange would think Akin
00:51:10.920 didn't look good. And that includes Akin himself, who apologized later that day, saying many viewers
00:51:16.800 and readers said he was rude. I agree. I'm sorry for that. We all want politicians to answer
00:51:22.860 questions, but there are better ways of making that point, Akin posted to Twitter.
