00:15:58.460 ourselves and that is what's called the spiral of silence theory as written by elizabeth noelle
00:16:04.780 neumann in 1974 it's a theory that's reverberated far beyond the scientific community the theory of
00:16:14.420 the spiral of silence can be broken down into the following core hypothesis most people are afraid
00:16:21.020 of social isolation. Therefore, people constantly observe other people's behavior in order to find
00:16:28.800 out which opinions and behaviors are met with approval or rejection in the public sphere.
00:16:33.660 People exert isolation pressure on other people, for instance, by frowning or turning away when
00:16:40.240 somebody says or does something that's rejected by public opinion. People tend to hide their
00:16:45.560 opinions away when they think they would expose themselves to isolation pressure with that
00:16:51.180 opinion. People who feel public support, in contrast, tend to express their opinions loud
00:16:57.040 and clear, virtue signaling, right? Loud opinion expressions on the one side and silence on the

00:27:11.880 of Wisconsin, as in the rest of the country. In the summer of 2020, during the BLM riots in Kenosha,
00:27:18.200 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse defended his life from a convicted child molester called Joseph
00:27:22.960 Rosenbaum. Rosenbaum was trying to kill Rittenhouse, so Rittenhouse shot him in self-defense.
00:27:28.140 But it was Joseph Rosenbaum whom the media cast as the victim of the story.
00:27:34.140 Kyle Rittenhouse, meanwhile, an underage boy fending off violence from a child molester,
00:27:39.620 was denounced as the villain.

00:27:43.720 One of the things that this tells us is the people who run our country no longer see child

00:28:26.200 nor did Mark Zuckerberg, who controls the company. The journal story was accurate. It was all pretty
00:28:32.480 shocking, but not as shocking as what happened next, which was effectively nothing at all.
