00:14:14.800 2020, suggesting that the psychological distress caused by lockdown policies, the isolation from

00:14:25.480 others, the disruption of rhythms of normal daily life led a tremendous number of Canadians,

00:14:33.600 especially young Canadians, to overdose with drugs. The rate of excess death among the young

00:14:42.800 from drug overdoses in Canada increased sharply even as early as 2020, according to a Statistics

00:14:48.140 Canada report that was issued in 2021. The CDC reported that one in five Canadians need mental

00:14:57.340 health services. The demand for mental health services in Canada climbed substantially even

00:15:02.900 as wait times for specialists got longer and longer. So at the moment when Canadians needed

00:15:09.600 the most help from medical health professionals, it was the least available because of the lockdowns.
