00:07:42.620at canadananosilver.ca if you're up for it you can go ahead and pick some up all right here's
00:07:48.440a story comes from the united states this was uh put out late last week and sadly not many people
00:07:54.900paid attention to it you know that in the past couple of years your your habits have changed
00:08:01.260right but they happen so slowly that kind of change happens so slowly and gradually and you
00:08:05.720live with yourself obviously so we don't notice these things next thing you know you can't get
00:08:10.620your pants on now or you can't do them up and the summer is coming and you know i'm scared to be
00:08:19.460honest i've got you know four or five pairs of shorts in the drawer right now i'm not sure i'm
00:08:24.320going to be able to do those suckers up so i'm going to want to do something to fix that problem
00:08:29.460And that is a combination of nutrition, obviously, and it's a combination of exercise, sadly lacking in my life anyway, and maybe yours, too.
00:08:39.200So a new study published in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine shows obesity rates among adults in the U.S. got worse during the lockdowns the last couple of years.
00:08:49.940The average body mass index in the U.S. increased by 0.6 percent between March of 2020 and March of 2021.
00:08:58.560This doesn't even take into account the last year or so.
00:09:28.560Yep. Yeah. I got a chance to meet him and I feel, you know, a little selfish if everybody else doesn't get the chance to. So do you want to bring them on now? I know you told them already to be quiet in the other room, but.
00:09:38.660Once they hear me talking, they'll come. Oh, here they come already.
00:09:50.040Yeah. So what have you seen Ainsley in the last couple of years in terms of general health and wellness amongst not just your clients, but people in general? What have you been seeing?
00:10:00.040You know what I think? And, you know, I've experienced it myself. I think a lot of us have really been forced to slow down. Do you want to come say hi?
00:10:07.740okay so a lot of us have been forced to slow down and uh
00:10:13.820um and and lost a lot of routine um so i've been in in the industry since 2006 and i've it's hard
00:10:24.080enough for people to find a new routine and to increase their fitness level and then we're
00:10:29.700forced to slow down and it's just like starting all over again um but then when they actually do
00:10:34.800get back into the gym or try a routine they might find that their fitness level has dropped which
00:10:39.780is really going to hurt the confidence right so it's a bit of a vicious cycle it's kind of
00:10:45.060from scratch for a lot of us and i found even talking to a lot of people they're almost
00:10:49.280embarrassed about where they're at um because it has been such a drastic change so it's been
00:10:56.400i mean it's kind of been really challenging times for everyone in this in the wellness spectrum for
00:11:01.460sure um have you have you found i'm sorry to interrupt have you found that a lot of people
00:11:07.800have gone and bought home gym equipment as opposed to going to the gym because i mean you couldn't go
00:11:13.560for a few months here and there and then they open and close again and it was kind of frustrating
00:11:18.720for a lot of people a routine at home now they're hesitating hesitating to go back to the gym which
00:11:29.380really hurts the businesses, right? So, I mean, I think it's a kind of a lose-lose for everybody
00:11:35.020where it's going to be a different industry moving forward.
00:11:40.960So, how can people get back into the swing of things? I mean, what is the first issue that you
00:11:47.500face when you've got a new student, let's say, a new client, and they don't really know what to do?
00:11:54.980What's the first issue that you face in terms of getting somebody on the right track?
00:11:58.420Well, the first thing is just confidence in themselves, right? So showing up. And if you're starting from scratch, it's fine. We've all had a day one, right? And the fitness journey is ups and downs for everybody. It's never, you know, day one and you're perfect from then on.
00:12:15.800so that's probably the biggest struggle is a lot of confidence and pride for sure
00:12:20.940so yeah i just want to kind of remind people that it's okay you know we all restart we all go through
00:12:28.540the ups and downs and we've all been through this together so they're not the only ones
00:12:32.220you know what i've been seeing on on a lot of your social media posts whether it's instagram
00:12:36.920or on facebook is you're an incredible motivator i mean you you're always uh doing new things you're
00:12:42.500always trying to find different things in your life that excite you. And this year you started
00:12:47.160snowmobiling for the first time. And what makes you so excited to get out and try these new things?
00:12:56.860You know what? I think a lot of it has to do with taking my power back. I would say when I became a
00:13:01.940mom, actually, I lost every piece of my identity. I sold my business. I didn't work out. I was a
00:13:07.720stay-at-home mom. Everything shifted for me and I felt really lost. So all of a sudden one day
00:13:13.880I found myself, I was like, you know what, someday I want to start camping and someday I want to,
00:13:18.440you know, do these things. And then I just was like, but why can't I do it right now?
00:13:23.380So I'm sort of rebuilding myself and having like a why not attitude. Let's just figure it out along
00:13:30.660the way. Well, there's a lot of us that think that, oh, I'm going to go to Europe one day. I'm
00:13:35.100gonna learn how to play the guitar I'm gonna learn a new language and yet we never do it so what's
00:13:39.260your secret just doing it oh yeah just don't think about it I literally I'll be like I've done this
00:13:46.140so many times I woke up one day and I was like I want a motorcycle so I bought one I didn't even
00:13:50.300know how to start it I wanted a horse I booked lessons I don't know so that's the kind of person
00:13:56.860you are always looking for something new in your life yeah cool uh when you first started this I
00:14:02.960mean you you've been doing this you said 2006 so that's quite a few years that's 16 years ago
00:14:07.480what was your motivation to start back then because angel let's be honest you you've become
00:14:12.200uh you know i i would say kind of a beacon of hope for a lot of people who oh i appreciate that well
00:14:18.860it's true i mean like a lot of the motivational posts i see you do i know you've helped many
00:14:22.920people but you were in that situation yourself back then weren't you yes and i think that's why
00:14:28.660by nature I want to help people and so the more that I grow the more I want to share and I want
00:14:34.000to just bring people along with me because I believe that personal development and growth
00:14:37.560is so important and I'm just like I just want to yell up from the rooftops like come with me on
00:14:42.700this journey so what happened is as a child I played all cars the youth I played all kinds of
00:14:48.720sports and then when youth sports ended I was working at Earl's restaurant and I started
00:14:56.900university and I gained not only the freshman 15 it was about 30 or 40 maybe and I just didn't know
00:15:04.080the body I was living in I didn't know how to work out I didn't know how to eat well because
00:15:08.200I was so active in my youth so I decided here's another one of my crazy ideas I decided I was
00:15:15.220gonna do a fitness competition to learn how to work out wait a minute isn't that isn't that
00:15:20.960something you do after you've been working out for a while yeah you think so yeah so
00:15:26.680in four months i i literally started the next day and i remember my mom saying to me i was living
00:15:32.800with my mom at the time and she said what do you want for groceries i said i want egg whites she
00:15:36.240goes the way you eat that's not going to make a difference i go trust me and i started the next
00:15:40.680day i was on stage four months later and uh i got off stage and i was like so the next one's in
00:15:49.520miami we're going and so that you just continued on from there oh yeah you made a lot of great
00:15:56.580connections with people I'm sure through the years amazing connections like wonderful women
00:16:01.820that I still talk to to this day all over North America it's amazing yeah so when you first started
00:16:07.740you must have been intimidated and and I the reason I want to bring up intimidation is because
00:16:11.980for a lot of people to go to the gym and I know there's a lot of great deals on right now I mean
00:16:16.660good life has got a great deal on and I'm sure a lot of the other gyms do right now as well but
00:16:22.060getting there and then actually going and doing something the intimidation like i even feel it
00:16:29.580and i haven't been i'll be honest i haven't been at the gym in a couple of years since all this
00:16:32.980nonsense started but i'm looking forward to going back i i have to be honest i'm going to wait until
00:16:37.860after this blizzard is over and then i'm going to hit the good life down the street for me but
00:16:42.280the intimidation for somebody who's never been there before it has no idea what to expect or
00:16:47.940what to do, that must be a huge impediment for them. Yeah. And you know what, like, I'll be
00:16:53.240honest, having been in the industry this long, even going into a new gym is intimidating to me
00:16:57.740too. Um, and so actually that's why I started my business and that, and I mean, I had sold my
00:17:03.960business and I'm working on a much smaller scale now. Um, but I would say work with somebody.
00:17:10.520So whether it's a friend or whether you can afford to hire a trainer, um, or go to a smaller boutique
00:17:17.000gym where it's more about community versus the the newest outfit and showing up for your workout
00:17:23.200right so just finding a place where it's a comfortable environment and that's where you're
00:17:28.560going to find success because if you are so intimidated to show up at a gym chances are
00:17:34.420you're gonna end up just walking on the treadmill for like half an hour and leaving or it makes it
00:17:39.780even harder to show up like it's hard enough to begin with right yeah so just finding somewhere
00:17:45.120smaller even a trainer i mean a lot of trainers have shifted to working virtually these days
00:17:50.220um and that it doesn't have to be long term because not everyone loves working out at home
00:17:54.720but it can be a start right to teach you something so whether you do um a trainer gives you a program
00:18:00.820to go do at the gym you have some guidance or a trainer can work with you on zoom um in person
00:18:05.980you know wherever you find your comfort zone is i think where people are going to have the most
00:18:09.940success for sure is it like what what the question I want to ask is okay so somebody shows up at the
00:18:17.140gym for the first time yeah and they go and they do the thing how many times do you see somebody
00:18:21.980not come back for that second time well in my environment not often um because I'm talking
00:18:30.800about beginners complete and total rookies who who've never done this before I'm sure you've
00:18:35.280run across many of them well i make them come back but in a big gym um in a big gym like i
00:18:42.920it's really scary like i would say that the chances of people not coming back are really high
00:18:47.360for sure it's an intimidating environment even the clothes to wear some people go well i don't
00:18:54.860have the right clothes i you know like what could you wear to the gym like i wear a t-shirt and a
00:18:59.640pair of shorts and shoes that's it that's all right you don't need special gear you don't have
00:19:05.560to have no just go right just go wear your runners bring a water bottle and just get your body moving
00:19:11.880honestly the hardest part is getting there and if you want to go and do the same thing over and over
00:19:17.680that's fine because you're going to progress from there but getting that routine and getting in
00:19:22.140there is the biggest the hardest part okay so the other thing is yeah somebody's going to go to the
00:19:27.820gym and they're going to work out for an hour and they're going to feel great when they leave
00:19:31.840and they go home and they reward themselves with a banana split or a great big piece of cheesecake
00:19:37.520i've heard from many people including an old buddy of mine troy westwood who's like
00:19:42.200pretty bulky these days that fitness at least in terms of carving your body out is 90 in the
00:19:49.060kitchen and 10 in the gym right it is so your what you eat is so important so important so i mean
00:19:57.360when I work with clients, I don't expect them to make changes black and white. So if I, I literally
00:20:03.140had a client on a call and she's like nine o'clock, I'll get up and make hamburger helper. And I'm
00:20:07.880like, okay, we're going to baby steps, right? So not black and white. Maybe we're going to start
00:20:12.740with making healthier choices at that time. And we're going to cut the intake back at that time
00:20:17.120of night, for example. Um, so I really just like to encourage people to just eat real foods. So
00:20:23.280fruits vegetables proteins is the outer perimeter of the grocery store getting your water in um
00:20:29.320that's just where you're going to start right and then if you have bad habits or um you know
00:20:35.060wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute i want to get back to you what you said outer perimeter
00:20:38.300of the grocery store like you said that so matter-of-factly but there's a lot of people
00:20:41.660that don't know what do you mean the outer perimeter of the grocery store because the
00:20:44.940inside is where all the boxed and bagged stuff is right which is what you want to stay away from
00:20:49.180Right. That's all the processed foods. Right. So if you think your fruits and vegetables and meats, they're all kind of go on the outside of the store.
00:20:56.420When you go on the insides, that's where all the processed food is.
00:21:00.460And you have to be really careful with marketing, too.
00:21:03.660You know, you want to look out for labels that are not there are titles that are allowed to be used that are not regulated in any way.
00:21:12.720So if you're not eating real foods, you do want to educate yourself on how to read the ingredient labels for sure.
00:21:19.180Ainsley, but I haven't got time to cook.
00:23:03.180I actually have a gym in my basement of my house.
00:23:06.480And I did it that way because the fitness industry just is not that suitable to parenting.
00:23:13.280but i single parent so i can't be at the gym at 6 a.m um so this way i can you know i work with
00:23:20.520people that i know it's very close-knit and like i was talking about that community and
00:23:24.120and safe environment um so i'll train clients and my kids hanging off me and they tell the
00:23:30.700clients to do burpees like they they know i hate burpees they're the worst everyone hates them
00:23:38.280the worst the worst the worst so tell us about your business right now we're gonna have to get
00:23:42.800on to some other things in a couple of minutes but tell us about what you're doing now right now
00:23:48.220i'm doing small group classes in person um i do a couple couple mornings a week couple evenings a
00:23:53.960week but honestly my true passion lies with the virtual program i've designed because my approach
00:23:59.420to wellness has expanded drastically from just nutrition just fitness i've realized that a lot
00:24:06.360of it has to do with emotion a lot of it has to do with self-love self-worth there's so much
00:24:10.900packed inside of us that will self-sabotage our results oh yes yes yes yes 12 week program that i
00:24:19.340run it's completely individualized and it's all about finding the self so there is a fitness
00:24:26.060component there's nutrition component but i actually connect one-on-one virtually each week
00:24:30.920and we talk about what emotions came up what was your self-talk like what is what's holding you
00:24:36.640back or how do you see yourself are you ready to lose that image that you have you know become so
00:24:41.740comfortable with right so yeah a little bit of everything that's self-talk that negative self-talk
00:24:48.460man i mean there's a lot there's a lot of jokes i mean the old snl thing steward smalley right i'm
00:24:52.660good enough and people love me that kind of thing it was funny but ultimately we talk ourselves
00:24:58.260over and over again into bad stuff yeah even if you're just joking you know inside your head0.99
00:25:06.320you're like, oh, I'm so stupid, you know, that is negative self-talk, right? So, you know, bit by0.99
00:25:12.260bit, shifting that mindset will really help you step into success, no matter what you're doing.
00:25:17.120Okay, how can people find you, Ainsley? My website is coachains.com,
00:25:23.340coachains.com, or Instagram, I love Instagram, Ainsley McSorley. Okay, cool. Ainsley, thank you
00:25:30.060for coming on tonight. Hopefully, you'll come on regularly in the next little while and keep us
00:25:35.640up to date on all the health and wellness stuff because we're I think we're going to need you
00:25:39.580oh I would love that for sure thank you for having me thank you Ainsley we'll talk to you again soon
00:25:44.880okay bye all right bye bye there is Ainsley McSorley she is a health coach she is a you
00:25:51.740know what I mean when you say life coach people go oh what does that even mean well she just said
00:25:58.520it right like we need to get ourselves into a better frame of mind because when we get ourselves
00:26:04.440into a better frame of mind, more things become possible. And I know that a lot of us have been
00:26:10.260run down over these past couple of years, in the past few months, especially we've been through a
00:26:15.640lot of emotional turmoil and we need to recover. So there's a few ways of doing that. There's
00:26:23.020taking time off, I suppose, or there's recharging ourselves. And sometimes time off doesn't actually
00:26:30.340recharge you. It puts you in a lower spot, right? I'm just going to lay low. I'm just going to sit
00:26:35.380on the couch for a week. I'm going to watch Netflix. I mean, all of it. And then I'll get
00:26:39.980back to things when I get back to them. But then you got somebody like Ainsley there who looks at0.99
00:26:45.420things through a positive lens, I would say 99% of the time. And you go, wow, you know what? That's
00:26:50.840somebody I could kind of use in my life. This, this person, you know, she's going to stop me
00:26:55.240from going, I'm so stupid, which is what she just said, or I really got to stop doing this,0.99
00:27:02.020whatever it is, whatever it is. So that's my plan personally in the next week. And I know I said I0.98
00:27:10.680was going to take this week off, but you know what, guys, there's no time to take time off
00:27:15.020because things are moving. It's a fluid situation we're in. So my plan personally, and you may care
00:27:21.580about this you may not my plan personally is to recharge through personal fitness and it's been
00:27:30.920a couple of years a couple of years since i've been to the gym because i wouldn't go
00:27:36.440uh through this whole mandate nonsense because i do a lot of cardio and that requires breathing
00:27:44.740and i didn't want to have to breathe through a breathing barrier and i didn't want the weirdness
00:27:50.600you know of what the locker room might be like or the locker room's closed or you can't use the
00:27:54.840showers or whatever i thought that was all ridiculous so now that things are back to
00:28:01.400normal at least 90 normal that's my goal to get back and and maybe it's something for you to
00:28:08.700think about as well and a lifestyle change of course i mean oh too much dairy i got too much
00:28:15.460dairy in my diet it's killing me man all right let's get on with the uh stories we're covering
00:28:21.500tonight in ontario and guys i always say that ontario sets the tone for the rest of the country
00:28:27.200there are plenty of groups plenty of large loud groups who are advocating for a return to masks
00:28:34.400including the left-wing corporate media there is a couple of there are a couple of people in the
00:28:40.660media who stand apart from that. And one of them is Ian Fury, and he is with Post Media. And this
00:28:46.400is a story he wrote today for all of the Sun newspapers across the country. Should have been
00:28:51.560no surprise that last month's Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario's chief medical health officer, announced
00:28:58.660his regular press conferences were coming to an end. Remember, we had the same thing happen
00:29:03.200in Manitoba with What's-His-Name, and then he came back for one last week. Anyway,
00:29:07.060As public health officials urge that we learn to live with COVID-19, part of that involves no longer following the daily ins and outs of the virus like the stock market or sports scores.
00:29:18.540Yet for some reason, Moore's return on Monday today to his first press conference in a month was held up as some huge event in the minds of the media.
00:29:29.020They thought, perhaps hoped, that there would be some headline-grabbing new development, such as the reinstating of the province's mask mandate to overlap with the sixth wave, which is ridiculous, by the way.
00:29:42.020The sixth wave, give me a break, that some observers were demanding.
00:29:46.580Alas, the purveyors of panic had to go home empty-handed.
00:29:51.940There will be no return to mandates anytime soon, Moore said.
00:29:56.280he hinted that perhaps masks will be mandated next winter let's hope not
00:30:01.500even a hint like that makes me nervous because they've been hinting at the same thing here
00:30:09.300they've been hinting at the same thing in British Columbia and in Quebec and when they hint
00:30:14.620they're laying groundwork my friends but there was just no need for it now no masks no vaccine
00:30:24.960passports. Although, to be clear, Moore did say he still recommends people choose to wear them.
00:30:30.940No, thanks. When it comes to masks in schools, Moore was even firmer in his insistence that
00:30:36.500mask mandates just weren't required. We've not seen any significant threat to the health of
00:30:40.940children, he added, noting that out of 2.7 million kids in Ontario, only two of them were in the ICU
00:30:47.500with COVID-19. As pediatricians have explained, when it comes to kids, this virus is thankfully
00:30:52.280proven milder than influenza. After listening to emotionally motivated arguments the past couple of
00:30:59.540weeks as to why Ontario absolutely must bring back its mask mandate, it was nice to see more
00:31:05.780return with facts in his arsenal as he told people to relax. Another set of facts the province's top
00:31:13.860doctor brought out was a reminder that the majority of those individuals reportedly in
00:31:17.720hospital with COVID-19 are in fact incidental numbers, meaning that they're in hospital for
00:31:23.160something else but just happen to test positive for COVID during routine screening. That's what
00:31:28.740I've been saying for the last year. Okay, so they're in hospital, but are they there because
00:31:35.140of COVID or do they just kind of test positive during the course of events? Now, we found out
00:31:41.380in Manitoba a couple of months ago, those numbers are extremely high. Of the people in hospital with
00:31:46.380covid 65 of them weren't there because of covid they just incidentally tested positive for it
00:31:52.640while they were there but now this my friends is the interesting thing because reading this story
00:31:59.580you might think well this dr kieran moore he sounds like a reasonable man right okay
00:32:05.400but none of this was actually why moore convened his press conference all of the questions about
00:32:12.480masks were just a distraction from the message Moore wished to relay, which was to draw further
00:32:18.420attention to the antiviral drug Paxlovid for high-risk patients and how the province is
00:32:25.180broadening eligibility. Paxlovid. The province has tens of thousands of doses of the drug that's
00:32:33.440to be given to much older and high-risk persons within days after they test positive for COVID-19
00:32:38.980to make sure they don't wind up in the hospital.
00:33:24.460The drug is made by Pfizer, which was Dr. Kieran Moore's intention to go out today and
00:33:31.420talk about Paxlovid, why he has got a business deal with Pfizer.
00:33:36.760I'm not suggesting that he's pushing this drug for money in his pocket, but he was working for Pfizer, developing vaccines at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, as recently as two years ago.
00:33:51.600Does he still have ties to Pfizer? I don't know.
00:41:31.640You know, the way I've always been is to search for truth
00:41:34.560and ask questions to, you know, sit through the lies and find out what's really going on.
00:41:39.480So myself and two of my colleagues at the Chicago Thinker, the University of Chicago's premier publication,
00:41:45.680Evita Duffy and Daniel Schmidt, we three went to this conference and, you know, we see right when we come in
00:41:51.260a ton of people, a ton of legacy media employees whose entire careers have been spreading disinformation.
00:41:58.440Those are the people who are telling us about how to avoid disinformation.
00:42:02.220So, you know, I hear Brian Stelter and he talks for 30 minutes about how Fox News is this huge purveyor of disinformation.
00:42:08.200They're the enemy of the people. And then I come up and I say, wait a second, run that back.
00:42:11.760Because actually CNN, from what I've seen at least, is probably 10 times the purveyor of disinformation that you claim Fox News to be.
00:42:20.280And, you know, he didn't really have a great answer. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:42:23.020OK, you know what? I don't want to play the whole thing because it's a little bit long.
00:42:26.020But, I mean, seriously, when we talk about misinformation and disinformation, as I just was, fact checkers and whatnot, it's easy for, you know, certain networks to come on and say, and anything else is misinformation.
00:42:44.740I mean, you've heard Trudeau come on several times over his bought and paid for left wing corporate media and say misinformation and disinformation.
00:42:52.560well we could say the same thing about what they're saying all you need to do and you can
00:43:02.240still do this by the way is go look up articles about covid19 from a year ago go look up articles
00:43:10.120about the vaccine from a year ago or eight months ago and they will be telling you things that we
00:43:18.520know today to be completely false totally untrue you can even look up youtube videos from justin
00:43:25.560trudeau or any premier in this country for that matter and they're or or one of those chief
00:43:30.320medical officers and they're all barking about the effect or or rachel maddow from msnbc they're
00:43:35.520barking all about how the vaccine is going to get us out of the pandemic and everybody needs to get
00:43:40.300it and it doesn't spread the virus and it's wrong and clearly they're saying it intentionally which
00:43:47.740makes it disinformation so who are they to be telling us or anybody with a differing point of
00:43:55.180view that what we're spouting is mis or disinformation nobody it's just a different
00:44:02.960viewpoint but they're trying to vilify you they're trying to vilify everybody who doesn't agree with
00:44:08.420them which is wrong look at this we've heard populist for the past five years ever since
00:44:17.400Donald Trump got into office populist populism this populist movement you hear Trudeau talking
00:44:22.800about the populist movement and how it's such a terrible thing why if you guys are on Twitter I
00:44:32.000suggest you follow this account 222 minutes 222 minutes some fan and he does a podcast once a week
00:44:38.620222 minutes as well he tweeted when people say populism is a threat they don't mean for us they
00:44:46.520mean for them stop letting them try to use it like a slur right here is the definition of populist
00:44:55.500a person especially a politician who strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their
00:45:01.420concerns are disregarded by established elite groups he ran as a populist or as an anti-corruption
00:45:08.040platform or on an anti-corruption platform adjective relating to or characteristic of a
00:45:14.320political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel their concerns are
00:45:18.160disregarded by established elite groups, Maxime Bernier and the People's Party of Canada, I would
00:45:24.060suggest, are a populist political party at a grassroots level. There is nothing wrong with
00:45:32.000being a populist, and don't let the other side tell you there is. And there's so many other
00:45:37.000things they've taken, like through language, and turned them evil. As a matter of fact, a friend
00:45:42.000of mine said today her sister will never be able to wave a canadian flag again because it was ruined
00:45:47.600by the convoy she will never look at the canadian flag in the same way ever again
00:45:53.020they don't see the people protesting or rallying as canadians
00:46:02.380they see them as a subset of people who expropriated the canadian flag took it from them
00:46:09.900and used it as a symbol of insurrection.0.66
00:46:15.460How warped does your brain have to be to think like that?0.99
01:00:58.520The powers confirmed allow for the seizure of all property, including homes.
01:01:02.540for far less than another convoy or blockade cars and trucks may be seized with no hearing or trial
01:01:09.400same with one's license and plates no hearing no trial no presumption of innocence when is
01:01:17.200guilty until proven innocent and there is no incentive or practicable way for one to be proven
01:01:22.900innocent summary arrests what are the warrant are also contained in section 13 the powers are all
01:01:28.980non-emergency measures the act lasts forever there is no sunset clouds so whatever happened
01:01:35.720to innocent until proven guilty so my so speaker my question to the solicitor general is why is
01:01:41.920your ministry taking a strong-arm approach with the aim of stopping people from conducting peaceful
01:01:46.560protests in the name of democracy you know the member opposite coming from a community that
01:01:54.160frankly is very directly impacted when our borders are blocked by illegal blockades I would have
01:02:02.860thought would have a better appreciation of what that impact has on our economy. Now the literally
01:02:09.860millions of dollars of trade were not able to pass through as a result of the blockade at the
01:02:15.440Ambassador Bridge. Kudos and credit to OPP, RCMP, the Windsor Police and many other police departments
01:02:23.540that work together to ensure that that blockade was dealt with as quickly as possible.
01:02:29.320But Bill 100 will actually give those police officers the ability to act faster.
01:02:36.440We cannot afford, as a province, to have our economy come to a standstill again.
01:02:42.760And what Bill 100 will do is ensure that that is in place so that we can act quickly
01:02:47.660and they can remove those illegal blockades as quickly as possible.
01:02:52.800It's really important, and frankly, I'm a little disappointed that as a member who represents a community that is directly impacted with the blockades and the borders through our international partners, it doesn't see the value.
01:03:06.440No, I do understand that particular aspect, Minister, and I also went on record in saying that I didn't agree with the full blockade of the Ambassador Bridge.
01:03:16.980I was also grateful that they allowed traffic to go back and forth because of international trade.
01:03:21.860For the amendments to the Civil Remedies Act, legislation that has been used to seize houses is unconscionable and completely unwarranted.
01:03:30.540Everyone is shocked the lightning face of this bill is being rammed through the legislature.
01:03:36.060Bill 100 authorizes the seizure of property, including one's home.
01:03:39.780All law enforcement is also made immune to civil litigation unless bad faith can be proven.
