00:09:10.320 since then anything new uh yeah lots of stuff moving forward the lawyers have been pretty

00:09:16.040 active here we're setting for trial for september 5th uh i will leave home here on about the 28th

00:09:21.660 of 25th of august here and i will drive out to ottawa and take up residency in an apartment

00:09:26.840 in downtown ottawa-ish area for over a month for trial so there's lots going on they're calling

00:09:33.940 the witnesses right now they're doing all that stuff i'm getting non-stop emails it's been uh

00:09:38.720 it's a lot to try and keep up on lots of lawyer meetings lots of zooms and then for the last week

00:09:43.760 of august and into september we will be in trial prep in ottawa in a court in a lawyer's office so

00:17:19.000 it'll be good to get this off of our plate, off of our minds, I guess, whatever the result is in

00:17:26.460 it. So Chris, is it going to be a jury trial? It will be a judge trial. One of the last places

00:17:33.980 you want to have a jury trial as the city of ottawa being government employees and unionists

00:17:38.340 or retired government city employees so uh well we're gonna we've we drew a good judge uh i don't

00:17:44.940 know i can't remember her name right now no i don't think i need to mention her name but we drew

00:17:47.900 a really good judge and she sounds very fair and i hope it works out promising yeah yeah so why i

00:17:55.980 mean i was sitting here thinking all right so let's see like would a jury be better than a judge

00:18:01.420 because we know some of the decisions, some of the boneheaded decisions

00:18:04.380 these judges have been coming up with for the past year and a half or so.

00:18:08.160 And you think with, well, you're going to have a jury, you've got 12 people,

00:18:10.980 maybe you've got two people who are, you know, on your side

00:18:14.240 so they can come up with a hung jury, they can't be unanimous on it.

00:18:36.140 for running over a pylon, and he's facing jail time as well.

00:18:46.260 Some of them would have been in there with 20 hours in a jail

00:18:59.880 We're 5.43 now. Yeah. We had one of the independent journalists on the other night who's been covering that right down to the exact moment the arrests happened a year and a half ago.

00:19:12.020 So when does the civil trial begin? Do you have any word on that? Or is it like one right after the other?

00:19:19.280 I did an affidavit yesterday with our civil lawyer, James,

00:19:23.600 and he's implemented what they call an anti-slap motion against CHAMP,

00:19:29.960 and it's really set into a chain of events where it'll draw things out,

00:19:36.340 He's got a lot of work to do in the next couple of weeks,

00:19:38.280 more affidavits, more evidence to put forward,

00:19:40.500 and it basically comes down to was the protest a legal action?

00:19:45.400 Was it a peaceful protest and something that was actually allowed?

00:20:08.600 this an illegal gathering, an illegal protest called the Emergencies Act, froze the bank

00:20:56.200 of out of ottawa on february 7th i don't believe i actually honked a horn when i was in the city

00:21:12.840 word occupation quite a few times i don't remember it being an occupation no no and they use that as

00:21:24.440 with the i mean you're facing up to 10 years in jail i mean that seems kind of excessive for the

00:21:31.180 charges that you've got on you do you remember the g7 um protests and all that sort of thing

00:21:37.580 years ago in toronto and other cities where windows are you know cars were burnt and cars

00:21:41.780 were flipped and businesses were looted and i uh i don't know if any of the participants in those

00:21:47.840 got you know that's it's pretty eccentric to say we uh i've been a law-abiding citizen my whole

00:21:53.780 life i've never been in trouble with the law before and now you know 18 months ago or i was

00:21:59.500 and handcuffs in the back of a police car and in a jail cell

00:22:02.300 in a really cold downtown basement of an Ottawa City police station.
