00:06:15.040after transit driver crashes into a quebec daycare this is tragic transit driver in quebec is accused
00:06:26.060of killing two children and injuring six by crashing a city bus into a daycare this morning
00:06:31.720CTV News reported that driver Pierre Saint-Amand was arrested after witnesses and parents said he accelerated through the Gardery Executive St. Rose parking lot and crashed head-on into the daycare, exited the vehicle screaming, and removed all of his clothes.
00:06:52.200Six other children injured in the crash were hospitalized and are expected to survive, according to CBC.

00:11:31.020Well, you've been a student for a while. What is the mood like on a campus these days?
00:11:36.340Are people, do they feel free to express their viewpoints about anything, or do they feel like
00:11:42.420they have to self-censor in order to just get through a regular day in school?
00:11:46.200So I'm actually not a student anymore. Because of the mandates, I wasn't able to finish
00:11:51.560going to Red River College. There was only one class that I would have been able to do online.
00:11:56.160The rest had to be in person. So obviously I had no choice and I ended up just dropping out.
00:12:01.020But I had one term left, one semester left. But in terms of attitudes on campus, it really depends on what campus you're at.
00:12:09.640So what I've heard, I'm in communications with lots of students, obviously running the student group.
00:12:16.880Campuses where there are no mask mandates, take U of C, for example, we have one Sam member on the leadership team going to school there.
00:12:24.100he said now that he's able to have conversations with people and be within six feet of them and
00:12:29.820see their faces they're able to communicate more readily and he's noticing people are tired of the
00:12:35.900mandates people didn't agree with them in the first place he was in a lecture and the the
00:12:40.980professor was talking about how you know there's radicals actually ended up putting our logo on
00:12:46.340the screen and saying there's radical groups like students against mandates and and different ones
00:12:51.600I don't know what the other ones were, but wait a minute. Hold on. You're suggesting that a
00:12:55.700professor at the University of Calgary is teaching in his class that there are radical groups in
00:13:02.200existence on campus at universities, not just in Calgary, but across the country and then cited
00:13:08.180students against mandates as one of those radical groups. Yeah. And then said that we went to the
00:13:13.120freedom convoy and we're this radical student group. Um, he, this guy who's in our group is
00:13:18.980in a conspiracy theorist class. He thought it would be interesting to take this as just sort of
00:13:23.260a side course. Anyways, obviously the professor has particular views and views on the freedom
00:13:31.260convoy and whatnot. So they brought up our group and he said that he stood up and made an argument
00:13:37.420for us to why people who attended the freedom convoy weren't conspiracy theorists. They cared
00:13:42.980about their rights. They felt they were being coerced into taking an experimental injection,
00:13:47.760you know, the whole spiel. And she was very shocked by this. And eventually, as he was
00:13:54.300making very valid points, other students start saying, I agree with him. And also the mask
00:14:00.980mandates didn't really make sense where you go into a restaurant and, you know, you have to wear
00:14:06.180your mask until you're sitting down. But then when you're sitting down, you can take it off or
00:14:10.620and they start having these conversations. And they're I don't know, it's like a lecture hall
00:14:14.440of 100 or 200 people. And then other students started saying, yeah, I agree with that. And
00:14:19.180the majority of the class agreed and the teacher was left speechless and was like, I can't believe
00:14:24.400you guys think this way. I'm shocked by this. So it sounds like on campuses where you're allowed
00:14:30.800to have conversation, there's a lot of students who are seeing that this is ridiculous. I don't0.64
00:14:35.800think initially that was the consensus. But now that the overall fear surrounding COVID-19 has
00:14:43.240dissipated you know everyone's gotten some form of COVID-19 and they've gotten better and realized
00:14:49.800okay it's definitely affects certain age groups and you know people with pre-existing conditions
00:14:55.260people who are overweight there are people who are at risk but maybe the majority of the population
00:15:00.640is okay and it's not what the press made this out to be but then you go to campuses where there's
00:15:06.440mask mandates and again we have it at the u of m and numerous numerous uh academic institutions
00:15:13.220across countries still have these these in place um and students aren't really able to converse with
00:15:19.680other students right so they're wearing these masks they're six feet social distancing um and
00:15:24.100you just don't they're still social distancing oh yeah yeah these these measures are still in place
00:15:29.560but then you you leave campus and you can go to a hockey game or you know a sport i'm not a
00:15:36.260sports person but some sports game and um you can be in like a huge crowd of people and your
00:15:41.760professor can be sitting right next to you no mask but you go back in and you have to put on your mask
00:15:46.240and you have to be away from the other students um unless you're eating in a um in a room by
00:15:52.740yourself like that's that's on one university website i can't remember it says you have to be
00:15:57.340in a room the door has to be closed you have to be in the room alone you can take your mask off
00:16:01.420if you're eating food and drinking um it just it's silly and it's arbitrary uh you know you
00:16:07.860gotta go through they're not they ever does anybody ever ask the school administrations or
00:16:14.180even the uh the the student body presidents or the executive like why these measures are still
00:16:21.100in place do they ever ask for scientific proof from them or do they just get away with this
00:16:25.180simply because they get away with it nobody stands up and asks any questions so my experience
00:16:31.320When I was at Red River College in 2021, mandates came out.
00:16:35.660I was doing online classes at the time with business administration.
00:16:39.780And I knew that a lot of nursing students and students that need to be on campus would be able to finish their programs if these they were implanted.
00:16:48.260So I contacted the president, Fred Meyer of Red River College and said, hey, I'd like to have a conversation on behalf of concerned students about your policies.
00:17:22.440I'd like to see what, why these policies are being put in place.
00:17:27.280Just explain that to me. And then I started phone calling him and leaving him voicemail messages.
00:17:32.100I got an email saying I will respond to you tomorrow. He didn't. And then two weeks later, he said, we're against segregation and discrimination.
00:17:41.020We're for diversity, inclusion, equity. Our policies are set in stone here.
00:17:47.140There's no reason to have a conversation and you'll not hear from me again.

00:17:54.120But they absolutely refused to provide me with any information or data or studies, and

In addition, we're trying to get creative in ways to draw attention to this because a lot of people don't even know that there's these mandates are still in place as well.

00:20:25.640there's an individual on the SAM leadership team who applied to naturopathy in BC. She got in and
00:20:32.860then they said, upload your proof of vaccination to, to get into this program. And, um, she couldn't,
00:20:39.280and she tried to give an exempt, um, or was it, yeah, an exemption from her doctor and they,
00:20:45.760they refused that. So she wasn't able to go. So she, she was going to move to BC, but now she's
00:20:50.440state in winnipeg um so this is happening to students still and people don't know about it
00:20:55.980we're going to keep drawing attention to it we're planning uh some creative some fun creative
00:21:01.360tactics to draw attention we want to get a billboard up um outside of one of the universities
00:21:07.060to maybe embarrass them a little bit and we're just going to be for that soon um just calling
00:21:13.360them out to say show us the data i i'd be so open to just having a conversation and if they could
00:21:18.760prove us wrong and explain why the the pros outweigh the cons you know um that it's worth
00:21:27.120damaging the mental health of students there are students reaching out to me saying that they're
00:21:31.020suicidal that um they feel extreme anxiety and depression um the fact of the matter is university
00:21:38.860is the place where you're you build confidence you you end up meeting lifelong friends uh
00:21:47.300it's a there's a lot of social aspects to university that students right now are missing out
00:21:52.220up out on 28 of people find their spouse at university so you may not be able to measure
00:22:00.280the damages that are happening on these campuses but they're huge and they're profound and they are
00:22:06.720not warranted there's no basis for it so let me ask you something at one of these universities
00:22:14.140that still has a mask mandate, let's say the University of Manitoba, for example,
00:22:18.280if you're a student there and you decide, you know what, I'm not, I'm not doing this today.0.75

00:22:35.800down below his nose and he's received now numerous messages saying like, you know, we see what you're

00:22:51.580I don't want to explain too much. I don't want to reveal who he is. I don't want to get him in
00:22:54.820trouble or anything, but he's been talked to by certain members of the U of M staff that it's
00:23:00.740causing a lot of problems for him. So he can't, he can't push back and he has to wear his mask.
00:23:06.680He doesn't want to get kicked out or anything like that. But he says, I definitely see there's
00:23:10.820people who put it below their nose as just a sign that we were pushing back but they're always
00:23:17.340getting um the administration is really pushing down hard on these students and they send them
00:23:23.640directly to their personal emails or their university email saying we see what you're
00:23:27.760doing and you have to stop um so there's so if enough people did it lee and i'm talking by the
00:23:36.500hundreds here. And I know the University of Manitoba has got a student population of somewhere
00:23:40.700in the area of 15 or 20,000. I mean, if enough people did it, the university couldn't keep
00:23:46.740track of it all. And then this would end immediately. Yeah, it's really, really hard
00:23:53.100to get people, just huge numbers of people all at once to do that, especially when it's so hard
00:24:00.900to reach them. The censorship on our platforms is ridiculous. Like Twitter, apparently we can't
00:24:07.080follow anyone now. You know, Elon Musk at Elon Musk help. But Instagram, like we've had insane
00:24:16.140censorship on Instagram. So it's really hard to reach those students. And these platforms are
00:24:20.780where the young people are. And if we would be able to say, hey, everyone, like on this day,
00:24:25.100take your mask off, do that. But we're just not able to reach everyone. And in addition,
00:24:29.940students are scared of you know they've been in school for however many years they want to get in
00:24:35.220and get out and they're not willing to risk it I've noticed which I understand it's a shame but
00:24:42.500you know I can't I can't force them to to do that or anything so we're trying to find other ways
00:24:49.600to rather than that route of getting this united front also too young people I've noticed are
00:24:57.380really concerned about what other students think about them their image um if one person says
00:25:03.240something it creates a ripple effect and and whatnot but it's still the people get ostracized
00:25:11.240for having this viewpoint right and and being anti-mask and being anti-vaccine anti-mandate
00:25:18.220all those things um and yet the real world is just steps outside the grounds of the university
00:25:23.260where nobody is wearing masks the grocery store across the street the 7-eleven down the street
00:25:28.340as you pointed out the hockey game you could be sitting next to your professor at a hockey game
00:25:32.340maskless but then you go onto the campus and yeah it just doesn't make any sense at all and
00:25:37.140it's amazing that these people don't see that and then you you have to extend that thought and go
00:25:42.300if you can't see the logic or the illogic and what you guys are doing how are you fit to teach

00:26:27.300masks don't work. Do things like that. Show people that they're not alone. There's a lot
00:26:34.480of students out there wearing masks, thinking to themselves, gosh, I want to take this off.

00:29:22.880right away, tons of likes, you can see the insights, people are sharing it, it was getting
00:29:27.380like hundreds of shares and whatnot. And then it got to a certain point, and then it just stopped.
00:29:32.040and I had on my Instagram stories links to the website. And I started getting DMs from people
00:29:37.560saying, your links are broken. None of it's working. The link in my bio to my website wasn't
00:29:43.220working. So Instagram fully froze basically our account. Nobody was seeing the posts. We still
00:29:50.060made like a decent amount on it. We're still selling them if anyone's interested, but it's
00:29:55.580getting really tough with the censorship and, um, Instagram, I I'll give it to Instagram.
