00:01:27.400 the greatest comeback in American political history.

00:01:30.400 Up to that time, the comeback of Richard Nixon,

00:01:33.860 who had lost the White House by a whisker to John F. Kennedy,

00:01:39.880 elected, even though President Dwight Eisenhower

00:01:43.000 and New York Governor Tom Dewey,

00:01:45.900 who had been the Republican presidential candidate in 1944 and 1948,

00:01:50.780 both urged Nixon to contest that result based on not just the evidence of fraud

00:01:58.400 in Chicago, Illinois, but also literally the burning of 100 Nixon Lodge ballots

00:02:05.080 in Dallas County, Texas alone in a state that Kennedy and Johnson

00:02:10.820 carried over at Nixon and Lodge by a mere 25,000 votes.

00:02:15.620 But Nixon decided not to contest that election,

00:02:18.940 living to fight another day.

00:02:21.320 And thanks to, again, an extraordinary series of events,

00:04:18.580 Of course, Trump and Elon Musk got along famously

00:04:28.200 to ferret out government waste, fraud, and abuse.

00:04:37.360 not billions, but literally trillions of dollars

00:37:01.340 This is, of course, just a thinly-veiled

00:37:03.780 attempt to intimidate journalists and suppress

00:37:06.020 legitimate investigative reporting.

00:37:08.220 The scrutiny follows mounting evidence that

00:37:11.280 the state of Washington's child care

00:37:12.840 subsidiary system may be vulnerable to the

00:37:15.540 exact type of widespread fraud uncovered in

00:37:18.200 Minnesota, where hundreds of millions of

00:37:20.800 dollars in public funds were misused.

00:37:23.160 Independent journalists Kim Higbee and

00:37:25.240 Jonathan Chloe have documented several

00:37:28.160 addresses listed as licensed child care centers

00:37:31.080 that appear to be operating no child care

00:37:33.800 services at all.

00:37:35.600 In one case, a resident flatly denied that a

00:37:37.880 daycare center had ever existed at the

00:37:40.140 address, despite state records showing over

00:37:42.620 $210,000 in taxpayer payments and recent

00:37:46.700 safety violations.

00:37:48.620 Federal officials quickly pushed back against

00:37:50.640 the mayor's rhetoric.

00:37:51.960 Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dillon, a good

00:37:54.200 friend of mine, warned that targeting journalists

00:37:56.520 for asking questions violates the First Amendment

00:37:59.380 and could trigger federal civil rights

00:38:02.000 investigations.

00:38:03.400 Former Senate Judiciary Counsel Mike Davis of

00:38:06.620 the Article 3 Project echoed that warning, stating

00:38:09.720 plainly that American citizen journalism is

00:38:12.800 protected speech, even though the fake news looks

00:38:16.000 the other way and bureaucrats are too lazy or too

00:38:19.100 corrupt to stop it.

00:38:20.480 The wave of these new citizen journalists, empowered by

00:38:23.560 free speech platforms like X, could expose and

00:38:28.060 humiliate the fraudsters and anger the public so much

00:38:31.360 that reform ultimately becomes inevitable.
