00:00:00.000 There was a point at which Kid Rock went from being a musician to an icon to a one-man movement,
00:00:16.140 and that's a friend of ours, and that was the moment we want to sit down once again with him
00:00:21.800 in studio and check in on how he's doing changing America. Great to see you. Great to see you.
00:00:27.760 So, I remember doing my text right before bed one night, and I read that Bud Light has decided to go tranny.
00:00:36.940 That's kind of distressing. The next day, like 12 hours later, you release the video of you executing the Bud Light with the carbine.
00:00:46.160 And then, months later, Bud Light effectively apologizes, doesn't go out of business, closes two bottling plants,
00:01:10.300 but it is terrible for the guys who work there, but then comes back and hands the UFC $100 million
00:01:16.220 basically to say, we're sorry, we will get better. That seems like a win to me.
00:01:21.480 I think it could be. I think they got some work still to get, you know, some of that base that they lost,
00:01:26.580 I think, to get them back. Like, you know, I've said a few times I'd love to see them get triple fratty.
00:01:31.040 Yeah. Hit it head on, kind of make light of the situation, self-deprecation, you know, but, you know, at the end of the day,
00:01:39.200 when you step back and look at it, like, yeah, they deserved a black eye, and they got one. They made a mistake.
00:01:43.440 How did you know, you moved so fast on that? I mean, a lot of things going on.
00:01:47.540 It was like a lot of people just pissed me off. I was, and I kept, you know, I keep a lot of beer on the property,
00:01:52.840 a lot of light beer. Bud Light was one of them. And I was like, I know who my consumers are.
00:01:58.040 So I was just doing a little marketing to my folks. You know, that was spot on for me,
00:02:02.840 but also a fun excuse to get my machine gun out and have some fun, but also to make a statement like,
00:02:06.920 hey, a lot of us aren't cool with this. You know, I believe a lot of people fought and died for
00:02:10.740 people's right to be whoever they want. But when you're that type of brand, you know who you consumers
00:02:15.420 are? You know how this kind of started, I think, I thought about it. So they moved part of their
00:02:19.360 corporate offices from St. Louis to New York City. Yeah, they did. Okay. Then they start hiring these
00:02:24.740 Ivy League progressive, you know, people to work for them who don't know shit about working class
00:02:30.520 people or middle America in this country. Unhappy women. Yeah. And so somebody wasn't watching the
00:02:34.580 hen house. They're riding high and mighty as number one and a fox gets in. Yes, it was a mistake. So
00:02:39.540 do I want to hold their head underwater and drown them because they made a mistake? No,
00:02:43.460 I think they got the message. Like hopefully other companies get it too. But you know,
00:02:47.220 at the end of the day, I don't think the punishment that they've been getting at this point fits the
00:02:50.580 crime. It's like, I would like to see people get us back on board and become bigger because that's
00:02:56.300 the America I want to live in. Well, it's better to improve than destroy. Yeah. So that seems like
00:03:00.480 a win. We were talking with this off camera and you said, what would that say about us as like-minded
00:03:04.160 people who were like, hey, cut it out. What's the matter with you? That, you know, if we brought them
00:03:10.100 back up, you know, that's kind of the America I want to live in. Like, it's not wrong with giving a
00:03:13.780 spanking, you know, the kid does something wrong and tries, you know, maybe he's going to harm
00:03:17.820 themselves, but you'll spank them for the rest of their life. You kind of, you know, someone gets
00:03:21.860 taught a lesson. They say, we made a mistake. All right, man, let's move on. I mean, we've done
00:03:25.780 it for, uh, we've done it for a whole lot worse. Uh, what about Germany? You drop two atom bombs on
00:03:33.140 Japan, then you rebuild it. Then you become allies. Can't say it enough. You know, who's getting hurt
00:03:37.380 and all this boycotts and stuff when people make mistakes, this cancel culture crap. It's the
00:03:41.700 working class people who don't have any dog in the fight. Yeah. It's like, all right, we don't want to hurt
00:03:46.600 these people, you know, message sent. All right, let's move on. Here's a bag of ice. Put it on
00:03:51.180 that shiner. Let's talk about it. Oh, I noticed that is not a Bud Light you're drinking. I saw
00:03:56.100 that getting poured. Have you had one since this all started? Dude, my whole life has become Bud Light.
00:04:02.120 I got to stack to the sea. It says, every one of my friends thinks it's a joke to bring me a 12 pack.
00:04:06.500 Oh, so you just got a lot of free beer out of it. Yeah. Or shove, shove them in my golf bag. You know,
00:04:10.020 they pop up everywhere. It's like, it's kind of become, you know, a fun thing for my friends to mess with me.
00:04:14.160 But, you know, I'll drink, I'll drink any kind of cold, free beer. Let's put it that way.
00:04:19.660 So that's like your main criterion, cold, free. Cold and free.
00:04:26.340 Trump, you've seen Trump a lot recently. How's he doing?
00:04:30.740 Toughest son of a bitch on the earth. He's doing great. It's incredible.
00:04:35.180 You know, we just got to spend some time with him. Yeah. But you seem to be having more fun than
00:04:38.920 anybody in that. I was having. I was having.
00:04:40.760 You watch that video back. We're walking to the ring. It was looking all tough. You're like,
00:04:43.820 this is the greatest day of my life. I loved it. Which was, that was so much fun. It was amazing.
00:04:50.880 I love spending time with him, getting to know him, you know, since he became president the first
00:04:55.000 few months, having dinner at the White House with him. And from there on, we've just really hit it
00:04:59.760 off. And, you know, I can relate to in a lot of ways as somebody who might speak out of turn a
00:05:04.460 little bit, say what's on his mind. But, you know, I think if you look at his track record and who he is as a
00:05:10.280 whole, there's a lot more good there than anything. And I think people, you know, I could go both
00:05:14.200 ways. I always say with me, you can go on the internet and you can make me out to be some crazy
00:05:18.880 wild party animal who just has his middle fingers in the air and doesn't care. Or you can be someone
00:05:23.620 who's a single father, loves his family, loves his country, does a lot of philanthropy. It's all there
00:05:27.580 for the taking. And, you know, I try to see the good in people. I haven't always executed that correctly
00:05:32.520 or, you know, on spot. But, you know, whatever it is, when I give it, it's 100% real.
00:05:38.540 Well, so without, like, betraying the details of your conversations, you've been with Trump a bunch
00:05:44.840 of times since he got indicted and the world has kind of crashed in around him. How does he see him?
00:05:50.440 Can't tell. Really?
00:05:52.160 Oh, I mean, when we're golfing and we're hanging out in different scenarios here and there, it's
00:05:56.140 his spirits are always up and he's always talking about this country. He's always talking about
00:06:03.140 this country and how he wants to win for it. He likes to win at anything. Yeah, that's true.
00:06:07.360 Anything. When we're golfing, like, you know, I won 100 bucks from him at the UFC. I don't
00:06:11.680 think he was too happy about it. But what'd you bet on? We were betting on fights. You know,
00:06:16.260 we're just picking guys, you know, to make it more interesting. Yeah. And man, somebody that's
00:06:21.200 that's in that office, in any office, that wants to win for this country, I'm in. I've
00:06:27.600 never seen anybody that wants to win for this country like that guy. And I don't think we'll
00:06:30.520 ever see anything like it in our lifetime. To me, he's the greatest president we've had.
00:06:33.880 And he's unaffected, in your experience, by everything that's happening.
00:06:38.240 Is he pissed off? Sure.
00:06:39.820 Yeah, but he doesn't seem broken at all.
00:06:41.240 I don't want to speak out of school, you know, but, you know, yeah, who's not going to
00:06:44.900 hem and haw a little bit about the people that are doing this to him? You know, these people
00:06:48.120 in New York. It's a freaking joke. Yeah. I mean, one Google search on Zillow, property
00:06:53.700 in Palm Beach, there's like a couple acres that comes up on the water. It's $200 million.
00:06:58.640 Yeah. And they're like, Mar-a-Lago's only worth $17 million. It's like, well, you are a stupid
00:07:02.780 son of a bitch if you say that. Yeah. You know, he gives out, he takes loans from the bank,
00:07:07.260 whatever. He pays them all back. Everybody makes money. There's no crime here. Yeah. I just,
00:07:11.620 you know, they're just, it's completely, anybody who can't see their fucking women,
00:07:16.040 it's just blinded. Yeah. I know the guy speaks out of turn a little bit, says some things. I can
00:07:20.620 relate. Yes. I do it myself, you know, quite often because I'm, I just say what's on my mind
00:07:27.000 and I can get that, but I don't know how you look at his track record and what he did and how he had
00:07:31.720 this country fired on all cylinders when he was in office. Everybody working, you know, military is
00:07:36.920 the strongest. He's leading with, you know, strength and, uh, borders, you know, under control,
00:07:42.800 just energy independent. You know, he could go on and on. I don't get it. You know, I understand
00:07:49.000 because it seems like it's a lot of women like in my life and stuff. They're like, I don't like the
00:07:53.180 way he talks. It's like, come on. You're not, you're not putting them in the office to hear him talk
00:07:59.360 nice. How many years have we had of that people that it seems like everybody, you know, because
00:08:04.580 everything is very polarized. I get it. And speaking of Bud Light, it's like, I wish those guys could take
00:08:09.740 this opportunity. Maybe they could start a little civil discourse with the negative that's happened
00:08:14.360 to them. Maybe they could figure out a way with that beard to kind of maybe bring people together
00:08:18.880 a little bit. I don't know. I don't think they're going to hire me as the head of their marketing.
00:08:23.000 They probably should. Yeah. Well, I like my day job. By the way, did they ever call you after you
00:08:29.020 opened up on them with a machine gun? No, there's been some distributors who know, you know, who claim
00:08:35.940 they know the people at top and this, that, and the other. I said, man, I'll sit down with anybody
00:08:38.800 anytime. And, you know, we actually got to talk to the CEO, me and Trump the other night at the UFC
00:08:44.040 fight. And I was standing behind me. I recognized, yeah, you were there. And I was like, that's kind
00:08:48.420 of funny. I'm sitting there with Trump. And I'm like, hey, that dude behind us is the CEO of Anheuser-Busch.
00:08:53.560 He's like, I don't give him some shit. I'm like, ew. Trump's like, let's go. And actually it was a really
00:08:59.840 pointy conversation. The dude, that dude, his name's Brendan. He's in the CIA. He was a Marine.
00:09:06.080 Yeah. He says when he got the videos of me shooting up the cans, he was hunting in Texas. I'm like,
00:09:10.560 you sound like somebody I'd be friends with. Like, how'd you guys get this so wrong?
00:09:15.760 And, you know, I, I hate speaking out of turn when I have conversations with people,
00:09:18.980 but I don't think, remind this. I was like, when you did that morning show,
00:09:23.300 were you coached? And he's like, I was, I was like, fire that fucking person. I was like,
00:09:29.000 it's terrible. I was like, they asked you at one point, like, if you had the chance to send that
00:09:33.560 can again, would you send it? And you go off on this. We've been supporting the ABCDLGBQ for 25
00:09:39.220 years. I'm like, ah, what are you doing? I'm like, you don't have to throw anybody into the bus. All
00:09:42.600 you have to do is say, while we want everyone to enjoy our beer, we know who our consumer is,
00:09:48.660 and we got that one wrong. We're going to double down. We hear you. Our bad. Just say that.
00:09:55.440 Everyone would have been like, okay, you still got to eat a little crow. It's like, it's like,
00:09:58.820 you know, if you ever had infidelity in your life, it's like, you can't go to the person and
00:10:03.200 just kind of sweep it under the rug and, you know, buy them a new ring or a car and think it's going
00:10:07.100 to go, well, maybe a car, a car might work out. You can't just sweep it under the rug, throw money
00:10:12.600 at it. I think it's going to go away. At some point, you got to be like, look, I screwed up. I got that
00:10:15.780 one wrong. And then you probably still got to eat some crow for a while, which I think they have,
00:10:19.620 you know, like I said, it's like, I don't want to be the face of crushing working class people's
00:10:24.780 jobs. Not only their jobs, but their livelihoods. Oh, I agree. People's livelihoods.
00:10:28.540 They work for that company. They're just like, Jesus, what happened? I know. It doesn't have
00:10:32.200 any fight in it. You know, you hate to see people losing their jobs at any level. Two bottling
00:10:35.900 plants closed. That's shocking. Because they screwed up. They made a mistake. All right. I'm over it.
00:10:42.060 You know, I'm not, I'm like I said, I'm not going to, I don't, I'm not the type of person to kick a
00:10:45.380 man when he's down. I agree completely. Completely. How'd you wind up with Dolly Parton?
00:10:51.000 Um, you know, I've known her throughout the years here and there, you know, been friendly with her.
00:10:54.760 She's just one of the greatest people on earth. Really? Oh, you've never met anybody
00:10:58.420 so positive in your life. And you know, speaking of Dolly, we'll get it. She called me about doing
00:11:04.620 the song. She'd wrote a song that she wanted to do with me, which ironically is about me
00:11:08.640 cheating on her. I'm like, huh? Had you ever cheated on her? No, I haven't had the opportunity.
00:11:14.820 I have not been given that opportunity yet. No, she's just the sweetest lady. You know,
00:11:19.500 I just read something on her where I've never heard the word hate come out of her mouth.
00:11:23.840 She just doesn't exist with her. She's just too sweet, too great. And I saw where she said,
00:11:29.000 I hate cancel culture. I mean, that should sum it up right there. I think, I think most people,
00:11:34.160 reasonable people, you got your small percentage of extremists on both sides of this thing and they
00:11:38.400 make the most noise. They get the most headlines because you know, they're the most polarized and
00:11:42.640 get the most clicks and views. I get it. I've played the game a little bit myself. I'm guilty of it.
00:11:47.140 But, um, I think most people, you know, level-headed people with the shred of common sense are sick of
00:11:53.920 all this stuff, this cancel culture and this, you know, God forbid, if you say something that's a
00:11:58.160 little bit wrong or ruffle somebody's, you know, feathers, that you're going to lose your job or your
00:12:02.380 social standing. You think it's going away? You think it's like reached its peak? I think it has.
00:12:07.900 You know, it's going to be, it's going to be tough with this going into this election year.
00:12:11.220 Yeah. Because it's going to get real polarizing again. And I don't think that's a bad thing in
00:12:14.700 politics. It always kind of is. Yeah. But everything else, it's like all my friends who
00:12:18.560 are Democrats, you know, in my business, I have a lot of them. Yeah. I'm, I'm, I'm the one that's
00:12:23.220 the diverse one. Yeah. Like you're the one that you want inclusion. You know, they don't want to
00:12:28.360 include media, people on their talk shows and all this stuff anymore. It's like, I'm the one that
00:12:32.600 needs inclusion. I'm the weird one here. I don't fit the narrative and, and in this place of all
00:12:38.100 these Hollywood and entertainers and singers and stuff like that.
00:12:40.720 Doesn't seem to bother you at all though. No, no. But has it affected your relationships?
00:12:46.400 I've never heard you say that it has. No, I think maybe one relationship. That's about
00:12:49.980 it. But everyone, anyone I talk to, I'm over for dinner. Hang with the things differently.
00:12:54.780 Like we always find more in common. Yeah. I'll be like, I love Trump. I can't stand a guy.
00:12:58.700 I'm like, cool. You want to move on? Talk about something else? Yeah. All right. We find
00:13:02.500 some other things that are in common. So, I mean, Dolly Parton took some crap for working
00:13:08.480 with you. She doesn't seem to care. No. I think she handled it beautifully. She's
00:13:12.740 like, I love everybody. Pretty simple answer. I mean, that's what I took away from it. She
00:13:17.040 said more than that, but I took away. She said she loved everybody. And I was really proud
00:13:20.980 to call her a friend at that moment. I think we need more of that in this country, especially
00:13:24.160 coming from people like me, because I know sometimes I am the polarizing one. I am the loudest
00:13:28.220 voice in the room. Will you do it with a machine gun? I am. Why wouldn't you? Who are you going
00:13:35.540 on tour with this summer? Thank you for asking. So me and Jason Aldean are doing... What's
00:13:41.860 he like? Jason, great kid. I've known him for years, since he was first coming up. Great
00:13:46.060 guy. Great patriot. Talented singer, musician. So we're going to do seven festivals. I see
00:13:53.300 a need when I partnered with these people, Premier Entertainment. It's called Rock the
00:13:58.500 Country, rockthecountry.com. I see a need for a big portion of this country that's underserved
00:14:04.640 entertainment-wise. And that's pretty prevalent when you see the success of shows like Yellowstone
00:14:09.220 and Duck Dynasty, things like that. People are just starving for it. So we wanted to go
00:14:13.860 out and give, you know, hardworking people that love this country a music festival, something
00:14:18.900 for them. Like, you know, come show your patriotism, just like they do at my shows, but do
00:14:22.940 with the force of people. You know, we got different lineups and there's seven small
00:14:26.700 towns. What are they? It's places like Ocala, Florida, Mobile, Alabama, Rome, Georgia. There's
00:14:34.940 Kentucky and Carolina. Like, rock and roll's not been too kind to my memory. That's pretty
00:14:41.080 good, actually. Yeah, it's not bad. But there's seven of them. Rock the Country. And then, you
00:14:47.700 know, we have people like Miranda Lambert on certain shows. Hank Williams Jr., Leonard Skinner,
00:14:51.180 Bradley Gilbert, Travis Tritt, Nellie, Big and Rich for Gretchen Wilson. Just, you know,
00:14:55.400 a whole cast of characters, which, like I said, just trying to provide something for,
00:14:59.260 you know, these smaller towns where we have a lot more freedom to do things that we might
00:15:03.720 not be able to do in the bigger cities. And especially to work with the local people
00:15:07.160 there, whether it could be the police, firefighters, the city councils, whatever. We had all those
00:15:11.280 people actually to my house in Nashville. Just all get on the same page because we want
00:15:15.020 to make this experience great for these people. And I was, and we came up with the idea,
00:15:18.840 let's have people that want to come from these towns, from these states. Some were
00:15:22.460 senators, some were police chiefs, like I said, city council mayors. Let's have them
00:15:26.300 up and break bread and just talk to them, try to get on the same page so we can try to create
00:15:30.460 a great experience for people. Make no mistake, we would like to make some money out of this
00:15:34.440 endeavor. Yeah. But, you know, we want it to be a win-win. We want the cities to win,
00:15:38.860 you know, try to give back and do something good there. Well, that's going to sell out.
00:15:41.700 I mean, the pre-sales went on sale today. So, seven shows. Does that wear you out?
00:15:47.660 We're also doing, first, I did another business deal with the PBR, who does the rodeo.
00:15:53.880 Yeah. Professional bull riders, and we're doing Kid Rock's Rockin' Rodeo at AT&T Stadium,
00:15:58.960 Stadium in Dallas, where we're going to have rodeo teams compete against each other. And then
00:16:03.540 I'm going to do music. I'm going to try, we're still figuring it out, but I want to make it
00:16:06.960 more creative than some of the rodeos we played in the past, where the rodeo happens and
00:16:10.720 then you play the show. Yeah. I'd like to kick the show off and, like, have horses ripping
00:16:14.900 around with American flags, you know, play something in the middle. And, like, I mean,
00:16:18.480 I'd like to put, like, midgets on mini bowls. Yes! You know, we'll see what happens.
00:16:22.240 Is that allowed in Dallas now? Everything's allowed in Texas. That's true. So, that's what
00:16:29.080 we're doing. We're going to play Sturges again this year, which I've played off and on for
00:16:31.600 the last 20-some years, and that's my year. I think it's nine shows. That's amazing.
00:16:37.460 Work less, make more. Work less.
00:16:40.720 So, the rodeo, have you ever been on any of the, like, have you ridden?
00:16:45.720 I mean, we have horses. I'm not. You're not getting on a bowl?
00:16:48.780 No.
00:16:51.440 Getting on a bowl and I'm not jumping out of a plane. I'm not going up in the F-16.
00:16:54.860 I'm good. I'll be right here when you do that.
00:16:57.360 You've had enough risk?
00:16:58.640 Yeah. I've made it this far.
00:17:00.440 It, I mean, just like, big picture, you've not changed your views throughout all this
00:17:06.960 last six years. You've been really direct. Have you lost anything? I mean, it's, it's
00:17:13.000 kind of an amazing story.
00:17:14.280 It's kind of funny. I always joke. I'm like, I'll do or say something. It's a little outrageous.
00:17:19.280 You know, it's people's panties in a bunch. It's a level. And somehow they give me more
00:17:25.220 money for it.
00:17:26.600 So, you've never, you can't, I mean, you're probably the only person who hasn't changed
00:17:31.780 his views and hasn't been crushed.
00:17:33.340 I'm, I'm open to changing my views. You know, I don't know at all. I don't claim
00:17:37.240 to. I'm not the Pied Piper.
00:17:38.780 No, but I mean, you haven't, you don't seem to be moderating your views on anything.
00:17:41.740 You just say what you think.
00:17:42.660 I say what I think. Yeah. And if I get something wrong, I'm cool enough to go back and be like,
00:17:46.420 yeah, I had that one wrong. I remember when it's happened, but I'm not bigger than that.
00:17:51.360 But, you know, I've been the same way since I was young and since my, we'll call it my first
00:17:55.780 successful, you know, Devil Without a Cause CD came out and I was running my mouth. There's
00:18:00.200 metal fingers on the CD that I haven't changed.
00:18:03.340 Times have changed, you know, and it's like, now you're not allowed to say that or do this.
00:18:07.080 You have to be politically correct and blah, blah, blah. I'm like, that ain't no fun.
00:18:10.800 So if you just like ignore it, it just doesn't affect you. Is that the lesson?
00:18:14.680 You know, I, I live by my main motto, which a good friend of mine, excuse me, Rev Run,
00:18:21.860 one of my heroes in music told me years ago from Run DMC, go where you're celebrated, not
00:18:26.160 tolerated. Yeah. And that's what I do. That's where I choose to spend my time. And, you know,
00:18:30.800 and thank God, you know, I've always been so big about family and friends because it's
00:18:36.320 the oldest cliche. At the end of the day, that's, what's really there for you. And I'm blessed
00:18:40.440 every day to have greatest family and greatest friends on earth. And I'm glad that, you know,
00:18:45.700 I've really didn't let all this madness get in the way of that. You know, I've always tried
00:18:49.740 to be there and take care of them and they've been there for me. And really, that's, that's
00:18:53.420 what it is. And I met some of them, and I think that's right, but I judge a man by his
00:18:56.300 dogs. I probably can't tell from this camera shot, but you brought a couple of your boykins
00:19:02.340 here. Can, can we meet, you've got two spaniels here. Can you introduce one of them?
00:19:07.980 This is Delta. I'm here by you. Okay. Dixie, come here. Dixie, come here. Dixie's a little
00:19:15.120 one. Come here. Come here, Dixie. So these are boykins. She's a little one. Hey. She's a
00:19:21.860 little one. How, how old is Dixie? She's old now. Is she 10? That's amazing. She's 10.
00:19:29.320 Do you go everywhere with them? Uh, my fiance Audrey goes everywhere with them. Are you
00:19:37.640 bringing them on tour? Nope. No. Select cities, maybe. They don't like the tour. Pyro freaks
00:19:44.360 them out a little bit. Well, not Delta. She's trained on birds, so she doesn't mind. Yeah,
00:19:49.480 I can tell. They're amazing, amazing bird dogs. Um, if you were to sort of, since you're pretty
00:19:58.080 good at calling stuff, the next year, like a year from now will be November, 2024. What
00:20:05.120 will things look like? I hope they look like, you know, Trump's back in office and, um, I
00:20:14.380 would love that we controlled, you know, Congress and, um, that'd be a perfect case scenario for
00:20:20.300 me, but, um, that's so difficult for me. You know, I, I know what I support and my views,
00:20:27.740 but I'm really not Nostradamus when it comes to politics or anything. I don't want to act
00:20:34.080 like I know it all. You know, I do study it. I probably watched a little more news than I
00:20:37.500 should. Yeah. Um, I got my views, but yeah, it's going to be interesting. I, I just don't
00:20:42.900 see how, like, you know, everyone's talking about, like, it can't run Biden against Trump.
00:20:47.660 It's impossible. Of course. And if God forbid something did go wrong here in Biden, it would
00:20:53.500 be for no other reason than just people's hatred for Trump. Yeah. You know, why don't
00:20:58.200 people just give out policies? You know, I, I don't need my president to be a saint to
00:21:05.020 get the job done. We haven't had any of those. I don't think. No, no, I don't think so. I
00:21:10.260 don't know. But you said that if you were Bud Light, you would run a campaign bringing
00:21:15.420 people together over your product. Hey, maybe they should make a blue hat that says make
00:21:19.380 Bud Light great again. No, good point. But do you, I mean, do you see like the division
00:21:24.940 getting better or worse? I, I honestly, I, I would, I would hope that it gets a little
00:21:32.640 better. Yeah. I see that with my friends. Like I said, I haven't, I don't go around bragging
00:21:37.700 about it. I probably got the most diverse band out there. Yeah. We have white people,
00:21:42.940 hillbillies, we have black people, we have gay people. We, we got it all. Females, men.
00:21:48.160 White people and hillbillies in two different categories. Yeah. But, you know, I see it
00:21:55.460 just with, with my band where we all get along. We all joke about each other's backgrounds,
00:22:00.660 our colors, our sexual preferences. Like we just give each other shit all the time and we
00:22:04.840 get along. We're like family. We're not one of these bands that just sit each other
00:22:07.680 whose throats fight. We all love each other and always have. We accept that we're all
00:22:11.300 different and we're all just cool. And so I keep saying this, it's like, no one cares
00:22:16.000 if you're gay anymore. We all got gay family members, friends, coworkers. It's like, just
00:22:20.020 shut up about it. Like, I'm not going to like, Oh, you're gay. I'm not going to clap louder
00:22:24.460 for you. All right. Just be cool. Be gay. Shut up. It's fine. Like, you know, no one cares.
00:22:31.040 You know, the transgender thing is just a weird one. I don't, you know, it's like leave
00:22:34.980 our kids out of it. Number one. But I, you know, to me, it looks like a mental illness.
00:22:40.600 Yeah. You know, that's what I see. But at the same time, like that's, that's who you
00:22:45.340 want to be. A lot of people fought and died for it. Go for it. We can exist in, you know,
00:22:49.820 the same public spaces. So be it, you know, you're not going to be my first call to take
00:22:55.980 out for a night out on the town probably, but I'm probably not yours. It's fine. Yeah.
00:23:00.760 That's okay. And if you're different and you're weird, make no mistake. You get treated
00:23:04.560 differently. When I was young, I had my hair up to here and my pants sagging, running around,
00:23:09.200 you know, talking junk, you know, people gave me crap all the time, you know, but I was
00:23:13.480 trying to be seen. If you want to be seen and you're going to go out and be different
00:23:16.600 like that and dye your hair blue and put a bunch of nose rings. Some people are going
00:23:19.540 to look at you differently. Some people are going to tease you a little bit, you know, whatever
00:23:23.260 happened to sticks and stones. Yeah. You know, everyone's like, he teased me. I'm going to cancel
00:23:28.120 you and sue you. And I'm going to tell on you. I just freaking, it's like we're racing
00:23:33.900 it. Pardon my life. We're racing like a complete, you know, generation of fucking pussies.
00:23:39.560 Yeah. But that can't go on forever, right?
00:23:42.440 No, the pendulum always swings. I've seen that, you know, at 52 years old, I've seen that
00:23:46.880 in life. The pendulum swings.
00:23:48.520 Yeah. So last question before we go get a cigar with your friend, John Daly. If you were
00:23:55.720 to give advice to, you know, a 22 year old trying to enter the public sphere right now,
00:24:01.500 what would it be? What sphere? Entertainment-wise? Either one. You know, you're the guy who wants
00:24:06.900 people to look at you. Okay. Well, number one, work your ass off and be good at what you
00:24:12.920 do. Be the best at it. And that takes a lot of time. You know, it took me 15 years, you
00:24:19.100 know, in the trenches. Riding around in vans with U-Haul trailers, playing every little
00:24:24.160 gig for, you know, 50 people. This, that, and the other. You know, it's the old cliche
00:24:30.220 that 10,000 hours. I think it's 20,000.
00:24:32.980 Yeah.
00:24:33.800 Work your butt off and try to be the best at what you do. Study your craft. Be knowledgeable
00:24:38.800 about it. Be knowledgeable about it. Surround yourself with good people. Don't hang out with
00:24:43.040 knuckleheads. That doesn't lead too many good spots. No, it doesn't. So, you know. So, work
00:24:50.280 hard. Don't hang out with shitheads. Yeah. And be good at what you do. Be the best at what
00:24:57.060 you do. Bobby, thank you. Thank you, Mr. Turner. Good to see you, man. Pleasure. I'm coming
00:25:04.220 this summer.
00:25:13.040 Thank you, Mr. Turner. Thank you.
