This Past Weekend with Theo Von - Duncan Trussell ｜ This Past Weekend #112

00:00:00.000 This week's episode is brought to you by Gray Block Pizza, Gray Block Pizza, also Bronx-born

00:00:05.720 pizza in Portland, Oregon, Gray Block in Los Angeles. This week's episode is also additionally

00:00:12.380 brought to you by The Ridge. The Ridge is a wallet. It's not a condom. The Ridge is a wallet

00:00:19.080 and it's a front pocket wallet. And, you know, a lot of people, you know, you see somebody and

00:00:24.400 you're like, oh, what's wrong with them? Are they, you know, were they in a fire or did

00:00:29.620 they, somebody hit them with an ax or something? And nothing really happened to them. But they

00:00:34.580 also have a big wallet in their pants in the back pocket. And it's, is it necessary? I

00:00:39.340 don't think it is. Very old fashioned. The person even could be a senior citizen. But the new

00:00:44.260 thing is The Ridge wallet and it's a front pocket carry. It minimizes what you carry. So you're

00:00:48.300 not carrying a bunch of extra BS. You know what I'm saying? You're not carrying an old

00:00:51.460 treasure map or, you know, or, um, so, you know, some Zydeco sheet music, you know, or

00:00:56.480 a condom. You're not carrying all of that. You're just carrying your essentials. Ridgewallet.com

00:01:31.660 slash tour. Thank you very much for your support. Today's guest is a positive light in the world

00:01:37.500 and he's also absolutely hilarious. Um, he's a Sherpa of our souls. It is Mr. Duncan Trussell.

00:01:45.380 Yeah, dude, what if, like, your virtual reality, so say like, yeah, your audio, like your, yeah,

00:02:05.100 like what if, like, what if you could adjust the neighbor's house volume?

00:02:08.940 Like, hack their house. Yeah. I mean, that, yeah, that's like one of the really insane

00:02:13.600 looming problems with automation is that theoretically everything will be hackable,

00:02:20.420 especially if they get to the point that they talk about some kind of nanobot technology that

00:02:25.520 you can inject into your body that becomes a kind of like accelerated white blood cell.

00:02:31.960 Oh my God. So you can sort of look at your phone and it's like, oh shit, you know, you've got 0.98

00:02:35.980 a little bit of a cold virus in there. Looming. Looming. So. It's in your, it's hanging out in 0.99

00:02:41.580 your elbow, dude. Yeah, exactly. Right. Exactly. And then theoretically somebody could hack that shit,

00:02:47.180 tell your white, the nanobots to start attacking your liver. You know, who knows? I know. 1.00

00:02:52.960 Yeah. Like what if somebody, so basically then it becomes like risk, like that game risk,

00:02:57.340 but you're able to influence the like antibodies and the negative, um, and like the diseases and

00:03:04.160 things that are looming inside of someone else's body. That's right. Yeah. Dude, let's fucking hack

00:03:08.780 uncle Larry. I do. It's scary. It's really, no one's talking about this shit at all. Like we're worried 1.00

00:03:15.000 about stuff that's happening at the second, which of course is important. Immigration. Everyone's pissed 1.00

00:03:20.920 off about Trump or not pissed off about Trump, but everyone's ignoring the fact that within the

00:03:27.260 next 20 years, we're probably looking at 45% unemployment because of full automation.

00:03:35.200 Oh dude. I think about that kind of stuff all the time. Like how many, uh, like what happens when

00:03:40.380 there are no jobs? Like the only thing is Uber and it's, everybody's an Uber driver and they're

00:03:45.100 basically holding each other at gunpoint. But those are automated now. So there's really no Uber

00:03:49.440 drivers because the cars have been automated. Okay. So you, but I, now I think that, uh, we're talking

00:03:55.240 with, um, who was the guy who made the song, uh, cheeseburger in paradise. Jimmy Buffett. Yeah.

00:04:03.140 We're basically talking to who I consider, um, the Jimmy Buffett of the future kind of of like,

00:04:09.380 of like in some ways, cause you're like this kind of peaceful character that takes people on a

00:04:13.340 beautiful adventure. Um, it's like thinking about the future and stuff and hearing you think about

00:04:19.320 it. It's like, it's in a comfortable way that people have fun while they do it. Yeah. And so for

00:04:24.120 some reason, when I think about you, I think about Jimmy Buffett and like, um, who

00:04:28.120 was, uh, wrote and George Orwell. Whoa. Thanks man. I'll take that. I'll be that hybrid. Thank

00:04:33.520 you so much. Oh yeah. That's a beautiful hybrid. I mean, terrifying hybrid. I like it. Is it?

00:04:38.940 I don't know if it is dude. Yeah. Like, or Bradbury, maybe Bradbury is a little more

00:04:44.100 Orwellian Buffett, like an Orwellian Jimmy Buffett song. That's fucking great. Not 0.99

00:04:49.980 cheeseburger in paradise. Cheeseburger in some dystopian smog filled city where everyone's

00:04:57.120 pretending to be happy or they get shot. Yeah. We're sitting here with Duncan Trestle,

00:05:02.600 man. Um, and this is our first conversation. We were just talking about that. This is our

00:05:06.440 first conversation. And yeah. What does it look like when everything's automated and how

00:05:11.800 we like, at least some people are going to be educated enough to understand that that's

00:05:15.440 kind of what's going on. Yeah. Some people are going to feel threatened by machinery and

00:05:19.920 by automation. Yeah. Like different people are going to react differently. Well, it seems

00:05:25.980 to, uh, like somebody's going to shoot up a fucking washer dryer in their house. You know 0.99

00:05:30.520 what I'm saying? Out of fear. Yeah. I mean that there's going to be that, but we're, we're

00:05:34.680 looking already at the problem, like a big problem, which is that, uh, like humans in 0.99

00:05:41.400 general, many humans, um, they have jobs where they're supposed to work eight hours a day,

00:05:48.420 but the amount of work that they actually have, they could get done in two hours. So

00:05:53.260 they have to pretend to work for the other six hours. So it's, there's a, I'm reading

00:05:57.800 this book called, uh, bullshit jobs by David Graeber. Fuck. It's great, man. But he just 1.00

00:06:03.440 is, you know, addressing the fact that we've gotten to the point now where we really don't

00:06:08.100 need to work as much as we are. Yeah. But because the model of things is that we, when

00:06:14.960 we go to work, we're selling our time. So the idea is I go to work, I'm selling you eight

00:06:19.200 hours of time. Correct. Which means I'm your slave for eight hours, essentially. And so

00:06:24.080 within that eight hours, if there's downtime, the employer feels like he's getting ripped

00:06:29.980 off. Right. So she's like, no, you can't just sit and look at the internet, even though 0.91

00:06:34.160 there's nothing to do. Yeah. And so you get punished for efficiency. If you can finish

00:06:39.460 your job in two hours, you're going to either lose six hours of pay because you go home.

00:06:45.320 Right. Or you're going to get chastised because you're sitting around for the other six hours.

00:06:49.140 So you have to start faking work. Wow. And according to Graeber, this is like one of the

00:06:56.180 most psychologically brutal things that can happen to a human. To fake what you could do

00:07:01.100 efficiently. Yeah. Cause it's BDSM. Cause it's a form of BDSM where you have to sit 1.00

00:07:06.020 and pretend. And BDSM means for people that don't know. It's like brutal. No, BDSM. It's

00:07:12.400 bondage, domination, I guess. BDSM and sadomasochism. Right. It's like a, it's like.

00:07:19.400 That's great. I'm glad you asked me that. Cause it's so funny. I, I love it. And I don't

00:07:22.360 even know what the fucking acronym, what the, what it stands for. Oh, I know. Like if I see 0.99

00:07:27.240 a picture of a lady with like a, um, like a whip and like some, you know, sharp stuff

00:07:31.700 and some cat suit and like, you see like some guy who's married, but is just stopping at

00:07:35.860 her house for an hour. I know that that's BDSM. That is BDSM. And I, but I, yeah, but 0.91

00:07:39.840 I don't know what it means. Bondage, domination, sadomasochism. I would say. It's bondage and

00:07:44.980 discipline. Discipline. So you're saying then, so then having to fake what you could be able

00:07:49.660 to do just to be able to keep your job and your pay. That's that, that is brutal. It's brutal

00:07:55.040 as a person. It's sick. And if you don't do it, you're going to get fired. Right.

00:07:59.460 So you, so the, and the, and, and so he's writing about how the culture, the way it works

00:08:03.800 is the employer knows that there's not enough work. So the, the sickness of it is you, you

00:08:12.200 have to, you both kind of have to lie to each other. So, so not only are you having to do

00:08:16.660 this play act of pretending to work, but you're also like having to be dishonest throughout

00:08:22.220 the day you're having to. And cause he says like, what, what defines a bullshit job is 0.97

00:08:27.440 that it really doesn't have any impact at all in the world. There's really no need for 0.97

00:08:31.620 it to exist, but not just that the employee knows that the job is not doing anything is

00:08:40.600 useless. Wow. 0.93

00:08:41.780 So you're, you're many, many people are just stuck in this hell realm of just essentially

00:08:47.120 like pouring water out of one cup into the other and then pouring it back and then pouring

00:08:51.420 it back. Right.

00:08:52.500 And they're getting paid. And a lot of them get paid a lot of money. Yeah. That's the other

00:08:56.160 thing he points out, which is really fucking nuts, which is that the most essential jobs, 0.66

00:09:01.480 the P those people get paid the least and the least essential jobs, those people get paid 0.94

00:09:06.040 the most.

00:09:06.560 Yeah. And then when you factor in all the other, um, when you factor in the fact that

00:09:11.660 somebody got the easiest one cause his fucking dad was somebody like it just, yeah, it just 0.98

00:09:17.540 probably just creates so much angst. 0.99

00:09:19.740 Yeah, exactly. Right. Yeah.

00:09:22.420 But then we don't, so, and the next step is, is, is automation because it's the next step

00:09:27.200 is automation. I mean, is that the next step? Is that where we're at?

00:09:29.880 Yeah. So the next step is going to look like, um, I mean, theoretically it's going to look

00:09:34.540 like AI is going to get to the point where it can start doing like accounting and like

00:09:42.300 law. So not like trial lawyers, but most law involves like, you know, creating a will or

00:09:50.040 just real, it's, it's law is code, law is code.

00:09:52.700 Right.

00:09:53.120 So AI is going to get to the point where it can create a will for you, create a prenup 0.97

00:09:57.820 for you, create a, you know, do all the shit that you would have to go to a human force. 0.75

00:10:02.080 And it's not just that it's like going to do the same thing for accounting. It's going 0.99

00:10:06.440 to do the same thing for pretty much anything that's based on code.

00:10:11.280 Right. Anything that's based on some of those books where there's not a lot of, uh, you know,

00:10:16.240 where it doesn't have to be argued.

00:10:18.720 Exactly.

00:10:19.120 Where it's kind of set in stone. And you already, you already see that with like legal zoom

00:10:21.900 and you already see the, the little elements of that that are reaching out to the people

00:10:24.880 that are connecting us. And yeah, we don't know what goes on. Next thing you know, you

00:10:28.160 have a patent, you know, next thing you know, you have a, you know, you have an LLC set up.

00:10:32.580 Exactly. Yeah. So it's like that. So then, so people think that automation means, uh, oh

00:10:38.760 yeah. Okay. So we're going to lose all the, all the, the, the taxi industry is going to

00:10:44.720 be completely automated and fast food chains. Well, that'll be completely automated. And that's

00:10:51.540 really sad because fast food workers, they don't get paid enough money for the work they

00:10:55.860 do. They have these shitty jobs. Yeah. I'll tip them a lot of times. I'll throw the lady 1.00

00:10:59.040 10 bucks and we should like, we should, I mean, this is, this is a hell job. And that's the

00:11:05.320 other really crazy thing about our society is we look down on those people. So there's

00:11:10.140 a judgment. If you work at McDonald's, like you're, you're looked, you're shamed for that

00:11:14.380 job. And, but your job is fucking hard and it sucks. And, um, you know, somebody in there 1.00

00:11:20.340 is always not doing shit. Right. Fucking Lawrence by the fries is never fucking doing shit. He's 0.99

00:11:25.280 trying to fuck. Right. Or he's not doing anything. Why would he? He's barely getting 1.00

00:11:29.060 paid. He's burning his skin, you know? But Roberta is doing, she cares. She's picking

00:11:36.220 up his extra cause she wants to get promoted. Yeah. So it's this sick vortex of like, no,

00:11:42.200 the same drama of game of game of Thrones is taking place in McDonald's where people are

00:11:47.720 in this microcosm. Game of fries. Game of fries. But you see it when you're at the front

00:11:53.540 desk, dude, you know, you see like, there's usually like a Latino woman or like kind of 0.98

00:11:57.480 like a middle-aged black woman that's like, um, or like a redheaded kind of white lady 1.00

00:12:01.880 that hasn't been outside in a long time. And they're like the leader. They're like devout

00:12:05.700 and they have like the little, you know, even a little tie up thing by the top of their,

00:12:09.560 of their dress or smock. And then you see like, um, somebody over by the window, biggest

00:12:15.660 headset, fucking furious. Yes. You know, threatening people. Yeah. It's a hell realm. And 0.99

00:12:22.000 there, and, and, and the, the meat is sizzling and this, all the weird chemicals are blowing

00:12:26.940 into their face all day. And it's like a, a, you're making me hungry. Yeah. We gotta go

00:12:33.060 eat. It's delicious food, but it's a hell realm. And so you're saying that we, so we have

00:12:37.720 these jobs now and people are living in these worlds. Right. Right. Yeah. So that's going

00:12:42.280 to become automated. So yeah. So that, so what, no, so what happens is the fast food workers

00:12:46.580 rightfully want to get paid more. Cause they're like, this is ridiculous that I'm not getting

00:12:51.680 paid a living wage. Yeah. And so the people who are running the franchises and running

00:12:59.340 the corporations know that it, once it, I have to start paying my workers $20 an hour or

00:13:05.520 25 or 23 or $17 an hour. At some point, the amount I have to pay them becomes more expensive

00:13:13.580 than the amount I would have to pay to implement robots automation. And so at that point it

00:13:20.700 becomes pointless to use a human anymore. Right. So that, that's what called a market

00:13:25.540 pressure. Right. So once it crosses past whatever that boundary is, that pushes us closer to full

00:13:33.460 automation. So those people now don't have jobs and the Uber drivers don't have jobs, but

00:13:38.320 not just the Uber drivers, the truck drivers don't have jobs anymore. Right. So, and that's

00:13:42.760 interesting. Don't take away my truckers, man. Gone. So that's gone. And now when the truck

00:13:47.380 drivers don't have jobs, guess what goes next? The fucking truck stops and all the little 0.99

00:13:52.140 towns and that are built on the economy of trucks stopping on the highway. Yeah. Stop and 1.00

00:13:58.600 get a smoothie. Stop and get a jerk or whatever. Anywhere. Let me come over there. I'm going to 0.99

00:14:02.840 get some gas and come over here off the interstate. That is exactly right. All the, all of

00:14:06.860 those, what are they, what are trucker prostitutes called? A lot lizards. They call it a lot 1.00

00:14:11.080 lizards. Yeah. All the lot lizards. They have to go slithering where there's going to be 0.97

00:14:15.360 a fucking, it's going to be like a refugee crisis. A lot lizards just slithering into 1.00

00:14:20.700 Vegas. So yeah, just this huge meeting up in Sedona, slithering through the rocks and

00:14:25.380 just rising up over Vegas. Just and that's the fucking, yeah. And what, what are we going 0.99

00:14:31.700 to do with them? You know, what are we going to do with all the lot lizards? This is the

00:14:35.460 future. These are the problems of the future. Okay. Now I'll ask you this. Now, does there

00:14:39.300 come a point though where it, for an owner of a business where it has the ability to go

00:14:45.760 with the market pressure, we have the option for automation, right? To go there and, you

00:14:50.360 know, on a, on a, on a financial sheet that makes total sense. Yeah. But where then it becomes

00:14:56.220 an, like, where does emotion come into that? Where like an owner is like, you know what?

00:15:00.700 No, I'm not going to do that because I keep my business open now because, and then this

00:15:05.880 becomes a thing of pride. Yeah. Like almost an Americanism. Yes. Where I keep my business

00:15:10.200 open because I want to employ people, uh, that are, uh, good, hardworking people that

00:15:14.980 want good, that, that deserve to have money. Well, here's where we run into a very interesting

00:15:19.180 ethical problem, which is right now because of the industrial revolution, there's a very

00:15:25.120 sick idea, which is that if a person isn't constantly working, then they're lazy. So it's like,

00:15:33.120 if you're not always, you should always be working. If you're not working, you should

00:15:37.440 be looking for a fucking job. Right. And, and, and because like we, we've defined ourselves 1.00

00:15:43.080 based on the, the industrial revolution, we've defined ourselves as beings that should always

00:15:49.580 be working. And not only that, but we've, we're defining ourselves by factory ethics. So

00:15:54.220 especially our parents. Yeah. Especially our parents. But, but even today, you know what,

00:15:58.940 you know, like, uh, what is it? I don't want no scrub scrub is a guy who won't get no love

00:16:04.920 from me sitting in the passenger side of his best friend's ride. So if you, if you're not

00:16:10.160 in debt to the banks to pay for a fucking car, an explorer, then you're not a fucking, you're 1.00

00:16:17.000 not going to mate. You can't even reproduce. Yeah. So there's this entire industrial revolution, 1.00

00:16:22.760 indoctrination that has taken over people's brains. This is all from Graeber's book. I'm all

00:16:27.000 fired up. No, I love it. And this is David Graeber's book you said, and we'll put the

00:16:30.640 link to that below. Bullshit jobs. It's great. Wow. It sounds fascinating, man. And I, you 0.96

00:16:35.260 know, and I love, man, it's so neat to have you in here because I know that you're such

00:16:38.900 like a, um, like you're such a neat thinker, you know, I think people were, it sounds like

00:16:43.420 from any way, everything I've heard is that people like, you just got blessed with like

00:16:46.220 a really, uh, unique brain and you're kind of like a sharecropper of your own brain, you

00:16:51.560 know, like you like to take care of your brain and like mine the fields and you get 0.98

00:16:55.420 out there and kind of, you know, you're not just fucking letting all the weeds grow 0.99

00:16:58.860 in your brain. You know, you're kind of like, okay, I'm gonna tend to my brain, you 0.99

00:17:02.160 know, I'm going to see what's going on. I'm gonna see what's growing here. I'm gonna see

00:17:04.800 what's, I mean, anyway, I'm just kind of, I'm not judging you. I just, I'm just kind

00:17:08.240 of weirdly describing you and I'm sorry about that. But, um, do you mean like when you

00:17:12.180 say tending to the weeds and your, but you tend to your brain weeds? I think I've just

00:17:17.280 started to become more aware of it. And it's honestly been because of, um, you know,

00:17:22.680 pretty much probably because of getting into podcasting. Right. And there's people in these

00:17:26.620 worlds that are kind of like pioneers of that sort of thing. And then I start listening

00:17:30.220 to podcasts and I start like, you know, um, uh, the Shane Moss documentary, like I start

00:17:36.100 thinking about these things that are going on and like how people are like, uh, micro dosing,

00:17:40.640 how people are starting to think about how, who, how, how we think and feel, um, are starting

00:17:47.060 to become a lot more of, uh, of value outside of like textbooks. Right. And sort of examining

00:17:54.140 that. Um, yeah, that's kind of where I'm at. I'm, I'm, I'm more in the feeling space. I think

00:17:58.920 like I'm kind of obsessed with feelings a lot. Uh, but I love the fact that there are guys

00:18:03.180 like you out there. Where do your feelings show up? Um, my feelings show up a lot, honestly,

00:18:08.560 in just even moments like this in your, but where in your body do they show up? They show up

00:18:13.280 right up in here. Kind of. Right. Yeah. And I'm honestly in my tear ducts a little bit.

00:18:17.040 Like my feelings are so like, there's not very much between like whatever moment is going on

00:18:22.700 and like, whatever, like my feelings are like right there. Like I can feel them like in here

00:18:27.660 in my face. Some, I can feel them in my throat a lot. Yeah. That's great, man. That's a, there's a,

00:18:34.000 an idea that I've been taught, which is that, you know, most people are up in their heads

00:18:39.740 and that's where they live. And they're pretty, and it's a pretty emotionless space. Like if you

00:18:45.140 get, in fact, some people try to escape from their feelings into their thoughts because that

00:18:50.380 they would rather, but purely intellectualize the world. Right. Than to experience even like a second

00:18:56.500 of actual emotion. Cause emotion is, especially if you've been putting off feeling, it's quite painful.

00:19:04.100 Yeah. And humans are, we like to avoid pain. So you basically, many people are like,

00:19:09.740 Howard, what was that guy's name? Howard Hughes? Howard Hughes. Wasn't he a recluse? He lived up

00:19:13.860 in a mansion or something. Yeah. He'd be in the dark all day for days at a time. Yeah. So that's

00:19:18.920 what many people are, have retreated into their minds, into a little corner of their minds. And

00:19:25.860 they just live up there looking at their thoughts and desperately trying not to feel. Yeah. And so.

00:19:32.080 And not even knowing they can, some of them. Right. Not even knowing. And when, when it starts,

00:19:36.560 where the, when the feelings start, they're like, fuck that, fuck that, fuck that. And 1.00

00:19:40.640 then tears start coming. No, no, no, no. It's like a dam. It's like when you see those videos

00:19:47.080 on the news where this dam is about to fucking break. Yeah. And it's good. If it breaks, then 0.99

00:19:52.820 they have a, it's what, what we call in the West, a nervous breakdown. Right. Is when all

00:19:57.000 that dammed up emotion comes flooding out of their heart. Yeah. Into their minds. And then

00:20:02.640 they start jabbering and freaking out and like, and it's all because they've been pushing

00:20:07.420 down all this emotion. So I've been taught that, that it's a, it's a good thing to, if

00:20:12.740 you can begin to sort of move into your heart. Yeah. More than, than in your mind, or at least

00:20:17.780 balance the two out a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. I start to feel even more as I, and like, I

00:20:23.240 got into like sobriety, like I got sober a couple of years ago. So that's when that kind

00:20:26.620 of stuff all happened for me a little bit. Like, bro, I never thought there was any,

00:20:31.540 I, I was all thoughts. I never knew. I never knew. I knew I had feelings, but I had to create

00:20:38.020 all my feelings with my brain. Like if I loved you, you know, I had to like, it was almost

00:20:43.800 like, okay, I decided that I love them, you know? And to me, that's what all love was.

00:20:48.220 And like, and man, it's been, and I didn't realize like just what a cage that, and I didn't

00:20:53.260 know. I had no idea that there was this other, like feet, there was these feelings, this vow,

00:21:00.520 this thing that it was almost like a, like under the plates of the earth. Sometimes if

00:21:04.900 you see like the magma and you know, I just, I didn't know. Yeah. And so even just two years

00:21:09.400 ago, almost July 17th will be two years where I just kind of got into 12 step program. But

00:21:13.820 anyway, some of that helped me start to change a perspective switch. Yeah. And I'm like, oh my

00:21:18.680 God, this is what people have been doing this, this whole time. And I didn't know that

00:21:23.020 this, I didn't know that my feelings don't happen in my brain. Isn't that wild? Bro,

00:21:28.560 I kid you not, dude, there's been nothing more, there's been, yeah, it's been earth shattering

00:21:34.740 almost in a lot of ways. Rebirth. Yeah. A hundred percent, man. Reincarnation. You could

00:21:39.960 almost say, there's a story of, I don't know, it's some Taoist master, they asked him, they

00:21:46.160 would say, how old are you? I think he was like 80, but he'd be like four. And because he

00:21:52.640 didn't consider the years before his awakening to be actually life. Yeah. That was like a

00:21:58.760 robotic existence. And so it's a, there's many ways people talk about it. One of the,

00:22:07.080 one of them is, it's like, you're living in this little shack and you think the shack

00:22:12.580 is your, is all your home. I mean, think how incredible it would be if you were living in

00:22:17.340 a shack and then all of a sudden you realize, wait, I think, I think there's a fucking trap 0.96

00:22:23.020 door here and you open it up and it leads into like this glorious, beautiful, maybe a little 0.98

00:22:31.120 dusty mansion or temple. Yeah. And suddenly you leave this tiny little space into this spaciousness

00:22:39.260 self. And that is for many people, like one of the greatest things that can happen to

00:22:47.540 it. Wow. Can happen. Wow. That's amazing. It's amazing to think of it like that. Yeah.

00:22:52.600 It makes me just start to really feel like for the first time in life, I could really kind

00:22:56.080 of feel, you know, like nothing became sadder to me than like, um, like, uh, like when a

00:23:02.060 kid doesn't have, um, like when a kid doesn't feel like somebody loves him or cares about

00:23:07.300 him, like nothing like makes me sadder than that now for some reason. And I never had

00:23:13.200 that feeling. I never had it. It just, it's interesting, man. It's just like, yeah, I feel

00:23:18.160 like I'm out here like kind of spelunking in my own feelings a little bit and it's fun and

00:23:22.320 it's a scary sometimes. And I noticed like a lot of times I'll try and step back into my

00:23:26.400 old, some of my old ways. And so I have to make it a practice, uh, to not do that. Um,

00:23:31.920 yes, it is a practice. It's good. Yes. You do have to train, train yourself. It's train.

00:23:37.920 It's, it's, it's, you can, I mean, it's cultivation and Buddhism. It's something you actually, and

00:23:43.960 I think that that's a, it's an interesting thing in the West where we just think that you, you

00:23:51.140 know, love is like a baseline thing that is equivalent for everyone. Right. It's like love

00:23:56.680 is like, well, is the way water's wet. Love is love, love is love. But really the idea

00:24:04.320 is like, these are things you can actually not only cult, you can cultivate and explore

00:24:10.460 and go very deep into and dial in. And people have been spending thousands of years learning

00:24:19.340 about that, how to do that and exploring what, what that is. But here we don't really think

00:24:24.680 about it that much. But I feel like, and this, I feel like guys, and I mean, even guys

00:24:30.000 like you and other, you know, other podcasters, other thinkers, other guys that are really starting

00:24:36.360 to get voices in the world, I feel like are kind of pioneers of this awakening of this awakening

00:24:43.000 and making this awakening more popular and more okay for just kind of regular people who

00:24:50.000 were thought that a, this wasn't accessible in their life or B, they would seem like a

00:24:54.500 weirdo. Right. You know, or fear or even like, I'll have people email me a podcast like,

00:24:59.720 dude, you said something the other day. And not like I'm any kind of like, I just try to

00:25:03.960 share what I'm feeling if I can. And like, and I, and it made me see something a little

00:25:09.340 different, you know? Yeah. Well, you're right. This is the, the way that I am. What makes

00:25:15.800 me excited about it is because like, if you know, by the time, I don't know, you're, you're

00:25:22.580 a young guy. Well, I'm 38. Well, I'm 44. Are you really? Yeah. So I'm old, not old,

00:25:29.360 old, but old. So like, but by the time you get to be around my age, maybe not your age

00:25:33.220 so much. I don't know. It's different for everybody, but you've sort of been like serving

00:25:37.740 yourself your whole life. If you're me, if you're a selfish prey, you know what I mean?

00:25:43.700 It's selfish. It's selfish. There's a culture of self selfishness in the world and, and, and,

00:25:47.760 or what's called self-cherishing. So that's interesting. Yeah. Self-cherishing. That's

00:25:54.040 very American. It seems like. Yeah, it is. It really is. And you, and you sort of you end

00:26:00.380 up and you think it's, it's an okay way to be. So you're always interested, a self-cherishing

00:26:04.740 person. You get into any environment and you want to make adjust adjustments to fit what

00:26:11.860 you think is going to make you feel better in that moment. So for many people, this means

00:26:17.940 disregarding what other people want in that environment and making it your music, your

00:26:23.300 thing, your color wall, your whatever it is. Right. Self-cherishing. Oh yeah. I think

00:26:29.120 I could see myself being like that a lot. Yeah. And it's a survival. It's also a survival

00:26:33.660 element for a lot of people. When they grow up, like if you, you know, as a kid, the world

00:26:38.980 revolves around you. You don't know that there's any outside input at all. Like, I mean, you

00:26:43.560 know, there's outside input, but you don't know that like when you're eight years old,

00:26:46.620 you don't really know that your buddy Tommy has feelings as much. I mean, it's all your

00:26:50.520 world. Yeah. You know, it's so like a first player shooter. That's it. Yes. And especially

00:26:57.600 if you're being taught to live up in your head. So if you, if you manage to turn your emotions

00:27:01.720 off and you live in your head, it becomes very easy to do that to other people because

00:27:07.420 you've, you've, you've dehumanized them. You've reduced them to a kind of pixel floating

00:27:13.340 around you. And you haven't even like thought for a moment that that person had a mom and

00:27:20.760 a dad and wakes up and feels something and, and, and, and is maybe super sad or super stressed

00:27:27.400 out or super freaked out. You can't think about that because the cognitive dissonance

00:27:33.100 that starts happening when you begin to realize that we're all not individual units, but completely

00:27:38.040 interrelated becomes so overwhelming that your ability to navigate as a selfish person

00:27:44.400 begins to fall apart.

00:27:46.040 And that's scary. And that's almost, that's shocking. It's like telling you, you've been

00:27:49.680 driving your car your whole life. And then now everybody's, it doesn't matter where you're

00:27:54.380 going. We're all, it matters where we're all going. You'd be like, what the fuck?

00:27:58.080 Well, not even, not even that, but, but, but we, we are fundamentally connected. 0.99

00:28:06.440 Yes.

00:28:07.080 So, so for example, you know, when you think in terms of, well, what makes a person a

00:28:11.480 person? And that question is complex, but you could say, well, it's my awareness. I have

00:28:17.060 this sense of a self. I'm aware here I am. I have a self, I have a body, but then not only

00:28:23.740 that, I'm aware of you and I'm aware of this room. So if I remove all of these things,

00:28:30.920 then what am I? I kind of cease to be. My existence is predicated by relationships, by

00:28:38.980 my, in fact, I, people think they live in their, their bodies, but maybe it would be

00:28:43.920 more apt to say we live in our connections to other people. We're completely interrelated,

00:28:49.400 you know? And so if that's the case and we've been fixated on, on ourselves instead

00:28:55.620 of our, the quality of being connected to others, then there's a pretty good possibility

00:29:01.140 we're miserable because we haven't, we, we, we, we're essentially a muscle cramp, you know,

00:29:07.280 we're like a, a, a sentient muscle cramp that's become so embroiled in trying to make sure

00:29:13.220 it's okay. That it is disconnected from the circulatory system. You're like a barnacle

00:29:20.240 almost. Yeah. I got a fear out of something we got so latched. And that's where we just

00:29:24.780 have been like, just, uh, calcifying. And the whole time this ocean's going on right

00:29:29.660 on our backs and we don't even fucking know that all we're supposed to do is just let go 0.90

00:29:34.900 and realize we're part of something so much bigger. Yeah, that's it. That's it. Do you 0.90

00:29:38.980 think that, so at this time we're becoming so automated though, at the same time, does

00:29:44.800 it seem fucking bizarre that I feel like people are getting so obsessed with what other purpose

00:29:51.220 is there for us as you like, you know, are starting to, cause do those, does that really 0.61

00:29:56.600 fit together? It doesn't seem like it does. Well, see, this is the great reckoning because

00:30:01.720 you know, if, if I think Carl, it's Carl

00:30:07.540 Young that said that the shadow, the shadow, the, the, the, the, the collective shadow, the,

00:30:16.580 the repressed aspects of a society get reflected in their leader, right? So if there's a lot

00:30:24.620 of repression happening in a society, then you might get some kind of leader that is like

00:30:29.380 a reflection of that repression. And so if we're living in a world where we've been taught where

00:30:36.860 as a matter of survival, you got to be up in your fucking head. Yeah. You're waking up at 5am, 1.00

00:30:43.680 you're maybe driving an hour and a half through traffic to get to a job that, you know, doesn't

00:30:49.080 really help anybody and, and, and where you have to fake work and, and, and maybe you even have to

00:30:55.940 fake happiness. Like you might be in a public job, so you have to fake happiness. And then you,

00:31:01.280 you maybe will have a, a 10 or 30 minutes to yourself every day, not including your sleep cycle.

00:31:09.720 So collectively that means that we've all probably been retreating up into our minds because to try

00:31:15.040 to be in your heart in that situation must be incredibly painful, right? Yes. Because then you

00:31:19.940 would really be feeling it and you would, you would be, be given into that part of you. That's

00:31:23.200 like, always like, I don't know if I'm having a lot of effect on the world or if I'm really

00:31:27.120 creating, you know, farming myself the best. That's it. And so the reckoning might be then

00:31:32.360 collectively, if enough people have been repressing themselves emotionally and living in their heads

00:31:37.200 as an order of survival, because they've been put in an existentially untenable situation that is

00:31:44.260 absurd, essentially. Then the reckoning would be when suddenly there becomes no more 0.72

00:31:51.180 thing to do like that. And now everyone has to go back and has to feel again, but collectively.

00:31:59.060 Wow.

00:31:59.240 So now we have an entire, the entire society has a kind of nervous breakdown. The entire society

00:32:05.620 has a kind of meltdown. And what does that look like? What does that look like when suddenly humanity

00:32:11.680 is forced to come to terms with something that seems really obvious?

00:32:16.560 Yeah.

00:32:17.280 Which is that a person's life is not meant for work.

00:32:22.460 Right. Wow. And that, and that feels like exactly, man, I, I don't know if I could deny

00:32:28.220 that that feels like exactly where we are headed.

00:32:30.600 Yes. It's tech technology is forcing this. It seems like, and you know, one of the,

00:32:35.640 Graeber was writing about how like slave owners used to, used to say, you got to keep these 0.99

00:32:42.720 motherfuckers busy because if you don't, they're going to run, they're going to run. You know, 1.00

00:32:48.620 they were demented, monstrous people who are like fully aware of the human psyche. And they knew 0.97

00:32:56.380 that if they're these human beings that they had captured were given any amount of free time,

00:33:02.680 they would split. So yeah, people. So if I am wanting to control a society and I'm wanting to

00:33:13.020 harvest their energy, then the last thing I want is for them to have free time.

00:33:21.280 Right.

00:33:22.000 Wow. I wonder if at some point for some slave owners and throughout time, you know, and I'm not just

00:33:27.200 talking about in America, but you know, every continent, um, that, that they were like, fuck, 0.97

00:33:33.940 do we have to eat? It was almost painful to know. I think there were like some nice slave owners in 0.99

00:33:39.020 a weird way. Like it was, it's, I have to keep them busy because if I don't, they'll start to think.

00:33:43.580 Yeah. Well, yeah, yeah. I mean, they're, they're, I'm sorry to communicate. They'll start to,

00:33:47.760 you know, because you, it's not like the, you don't hear the strongest. There's not that story that

00:33:52.620 the strongest slave changed it all. It's the thinker slave. It's the Frederick Doug, you know,

00:33:57.420 it's, or it's the leaders. It's the, it's yes, the thinkers. Yeah. It's the thinkers and the feelers

00:34:03.520 and, and, and, and the, in the connectors. Right. You know, cause that's the, the, the, the reality.

00:34:10.560 It's not like slave-a-dactyl, you know, the strongest slave, you know what I'm saying? Like,

00:34:14.820 even though there'd be a great superhero guy who came in and just changed it all, you know?

00:34:19.280 You mean like a pterodactyl slave? I mean, I'm not talking about a slave that fucks a bird, 0.98

00:34:24.020 but I'm talking about like a slave that, you know, I've just picked a bad name. I mean, 0.99

00:34:28.720 like an Iron Man. If you give them free time, they'll start fucking birds. 0.99

00:34:33.580 I mean, like an Iron Man type of person. I know. It'd be a great, I mean, this is the 0.99

00:34:37.740 tragedy of the, of it all is that, you know, they were so controlled and so terrified and so

00:34:43.900 intentionally, um, disempowered and broken that they, they, you know, they couldn't unify,

00:34:52.640 but that's the difference between us, us and them. And that's kind of the big, like the reality,

00:34:59.680 the big, uh, I guess thing you're, you're not supposed to say, or the thing that's really

00:35:04.220 quite obvious, which is that there is way more of us than there are of them. And by us,

00:35:13.420 I mean, people who are, you know, human beings, right? You don't feel like being exploited or

00:35:19.700 objectified. There's just so much more of us. Yeah. It seems so, it almost starts to seem so

00:35:25.820 lopsided. It starts to seem like, yeah, why have we been the slaves for so long? Right. And that's,

00:35:31.200 if you were running a plantation and you heard that conversation, you would want to figure out a

00:35:36.220 way to make that conversation not happen. Right. So what would you do? So maybe you would like,

00:35:40.320 okay, fuck, you know, somehow these slaves have gotten access to technology. They're starting 1.00

00:35:45.180 figure to figure some stuff out. All right. All right. All right. All right. Well,

00:35:48.260 let's make the slaves imagine they do have a little bit of power. And then let's make the

00:35:52.640 slaves imagine they do have some autonomy. It's like, now we don't have slavery. We have jobs. So

00:35:57.680 right now it's like, okay, so you go to work, you got a job. Congrats. Unemployment lowest in 50

00:36:05.620 years. We did it. We did it. We did it. Meanwhile, it's like, what does that really mean? It means that

00:36:13.460 like a shit ton of people are getting splattered with like grease that's burning them. A lot of

00:36:20.420 people are doing things. Lord of the fries, man. They're at the fucking TSA. Oh yeah. TSA is the

00:36:25.320 worst. Yeah. Can you imagine the misery of that job? Which is, you know, because when you come in,

00:36:31.680 they want people to be compassionate to these people who are doing security theater. So they

00:36:36.620 have security theater. That's what it's called. Security theater. Security theater. It's so

00:36:42.920 ridiculous. Yeah. Yeah, it is. And they put up signs, which is like, just so you know, 80% of these 0.97

00:36:49.780 people are veterans. Yeah. And so the idea is like, because humans are having a natural reaction,

00:36:55.320 to strangers rifling through their shit. Yeah. And they're cunts to the TSA workers. But it's like, 1.00

00:37:03.280 if you really think about it, imagine every day, you have to drive to LAX. Just think of that. Every

00:37:11.680 day, you have to drive to fucking LAX. And don't go anywhere. And don't go anywhere. In fact, 0.99

00:37:17.280 you're in the worst part of LAX. Oh. And you have to sit there looking at that fucking,

00:37:23.980 look, probably looking at that people's dicks all day through that machine. So like, you're seeing 1.00

00:37:29.320 these like, you're just looking at fucking like, just like, American, naked Americans. And you know, 1.00

00:37:36.860 these people aren't bringing bombs in. These people aren't doing shit. That's an 80 year old 0.96

00:37:42.620 woman in a fucking wheelchair. Do I really need to grab her pussy right now to see if there's a fucking 1.00

00:37:48.660 stick of dynamite up there? I mean, kind of. That's the funnest part. But yeah, do I need 1.00

00:37:54.000 to? Right. Like, do any of these TSA workers, there's some that are pretty probably awake that

00:38:02.860 are like, we're not doing anything. Yeah. And it's just theater.

00:38:05.860 They know. And then they add to that, that they're experiencing this river of sentient

00:38:14.440 humans who are glaring at them all day long. Yeah. I'm the worst. Yeah. Yeah. And so this is

00:38:23.480 like a, this is a hellscape. But because of the TSA, we created a shit ton of jobs. Right. Right.

00:38:31.420 And so then that makes the numbers look good. Yeah. Yeah. And that makes us feel like we're doing

00:38:35.160 something good. That's right. And so it's like, okay, let's invent some other bullshit

00:38:39.720 fucking thing for people to do that we all know really doesn't need to happen. And then 0.99

00:38:44.060 another thing and another thing. And all of this is just this, basically, if you, I mean,

00:38:48.740 like, imagine how dangerous it would be if you were a tiger herder. Now, this has never happened,

00:38:55.480 of course. But if you had to herd tigers, you would, that, that. That's not a racial slurry

00:39:03.520 that I'm already thinking it is. What, what do you mean?

00:39:06.400 Tigers. Fuck no, I don't know. 1.00

00:39:09.080 No, it's not. It's not. I'm just joking. It's not. Okay. Imagine you had to herd tigers. Go 1.00

00:39:14.380 on. I'm in this. You would be fucking scared shitless, right? Cause you'd be like, man,

00:39:18.840 these tigers, if they figure out they're tigers, then there's no way they're going to let us

00:39:24.400 herd them anymore. Cause they're way bigger than us. They're fast. They're dangerous. But 0.73

00:39:29.700 then think how much more dangerous humans are than tigers. We are devious technological

00:39:35.780 creatures that are learning how to go to the fundamental elements of the universe and reconfigure.

00:39:41.740 We can reconfigure atoms. We know how to, we are such amazing beings, so much potential

00:39:48.260 and we're being herded. And the way we're being herded is by being told that time is money.

00:39:55.480 Yeah. Right. And so we're being herded by and pulsed. We're being pulsed. So it's like,

00:40:01.760 if you look over a city, you see this like, which is red light, green light, red light,

00:40:08.080 green light. It's a circulatory system, a pulsing circulatory system of sentient advanced beings in

00:40:16.640 metal shells who all think that they're doing something unique. But if you looked at it from

00:40:22.000 the sky, it's no different than looking at ants carrying bread from a picnic. It's just a,

00:40:27.280 it's a hive. Right. And the hive is being pulsed. And the thing that's pulsing that hive, well,

00:40:33.900 I'm not really sure exactly what that is. Right. That's where, and that's a big question kind of,

00:40:39.540 because that's the same question I get to with like, I mean, it's not the same, the same

00:40:44.680 tributary that I arrived there from, but it's the same place river that I get to when I get to the,

00:40:52.140 I, the question of who's doing it. Right. And why? Who's doing it? Are we just,

00:40:58.320 or have we just gotten into this? Have we just gotten into this calcified

00:41:03.720 fuck whirlpool where we're just doing it to ourselves? You know, I don't think, I think, 1.00

00:41:09.440 it's like, I imagine if you want, if like in some dark universe, if you wanted to run a laboratory

00:41:16.140 where you had access to, you know, a bunch of babies and you could just raise them, you could

00:41:22.400 probably make the babies believe that every morning when you wake up, you walk six times clockwise and

00:41:30.180 every 45 minutes you walk counterclockwise. Yeah. Babies are idiots. Yeah. Right. As soon as they can 0.74

00:41:36.100 walk, but then like the babies, if you, especially if you like started electrocuting them, if they 0.93

00:41:40.780 didn't do this ritual. So maybe these kids are all wearing some kind of shock collars or something.

00:41:45.880 So they have to do this ritual every 45 minutes where they get shocked. Probably by the time

00:41:50.520 they're 16, you could take the shock collar off and they're going to spend the rest of their life in 1.00

00:41:54.760 the laboratory doing this fucking thing. So I think probably what happened is maybe during the 0.98

00:42:01.060 industrial revolution, a bunch of, we were just taught something that was a, was just a complete

00:42:07.720 and absolute lie, which is that you can sell time. Yeah. And, and that's nothing to be more

00:42:16.440 valuable than that. More of a fucking, yeah, it's not true. You can't sell time. In fact, 0.98

00:42:21.800 I don't even know what time is, but. And it's probably such a critical moment too,

00:42:25.620 because there's so much going on that, yeah, the thing. And I think it's weird because it's

00:42:30.680 people that want us to work so much. Some people want life to be about work and they want life to

00:42:35.180 be about money. Yeah. And that's very alarming to me. Yeah. Like I, I start to really believe that

00:42:40.040 there's going to be a thing where greed is not fucking attractive anymore. Right. Like I want to do 0.70

00:42:45.800 well for myself. Like I want to succeed. Yeah. I want to have, you know, there's some things I want to

00:42:50.800 have. I want my children to have like, you know, be able to clean their teeth at night and, you know,

00:42:55.740 and like, I feel like a comfortable blanket on their skin and like things like that, you know?

00:42:59.360 Yeah. But I don't know if it's money. I feel like that drives me. And if it really gets to be like

00:43:06.160 that, that kind of scares me a little. I wonder if that school of thought is going to start to take

00:43:11.060 over. That greed is not, it's not fucking cool anymore when we know so much that other like beings are

00:43:18.500 struggling. Yeah, man. It's not cool. It's not. Well, and it's painful. I mean, that's the, 0.59

00:43:26.220 you know, when people have a shit ton of money. Yeah. Many of them are philanthropists because

00:43:33.420 they figured out that like, what is the best feeling? Right. Giving it away. Yeah. And so

00:43:37.980 they're, they're, they're philanthropists and they're, and they're giving it away. But generally

00:43:41.580 like the experience of selfishness is, is self-cherishing is incredibly painful and people

00:43:48.560 don't realize that. So trying to load up on money is, is, is, is a, an attempt to reduce

00:43:57.680 their levels of suffering. Right. Yes. And that's a, that, that, that, I think that's a,

00:44:03.160 that makes sense to me. Like if it's like trying to put, but the problem is it's trying to put

00:44:07.500 out a fire with more fire and it just doesn't work. It's just, it's just, it's like, oh,

00:44:13.480 I'm thirsty. God, I'm so fucking thirsty. Let me eat sand. Yeah. That'll help me not be thirsty 0.92

00:44:19.080 anymore. And, and so I think that's kind of the problem is what the thing you're talking

00:44:23.800 about. I hope what happens is that people start realizing that because we're all connected,

00:44:29.240 I tend to feel better if I'm doing stuff for other people. Yeah. More than if I'm doing shit

00:44:36.360 for myself. And, and that's what 12 step programs are. That's what all that is. All that is stuff 0.98

00:44:40.620 is about usually is getting back to realizing that the way you get out of whatever is hurting you

00:44:45.600 a lot of times is by helping somebody else. You're not thinking about yourself. Yes. That's the,

00:44:52.840 it's, it's like, if you want the antidote to whatever ails you, just start helping someone. Yeah.

00:45:00.340 And you, it's like so easy to do. It's, it's, you know, right away, like you can do a scan

00:45:06.940 right away and, and think who needs help in my life. I'm not talking about some kind of like

00:45:14.120 distant sending money off to a charity or anything like that. That's great. Do it. If you feel like

00:45:18.840 it, I'm talking about, well, this teacher, Jack Kornfield, who I've had on my podcast, he says,

00:45:23.900 tend to the part of the garden you can touch. So, so just think like, who?

00:45:30.380 Who needs help? Who needs a hug? Yeah. Who needs somebody to take them to lunch? Who do you notice

00:45:33.860 that's been drinking a lot? And, and instead of joking about it with your friends and making fun

00:45:38.040 of them, which is okay to do a couple of times, but also who could probably is hurting and maybe

00:45:43.780 could use some, you know, and all they need is just somebody to care. Yeah. You know, it's crazy.

00:45:49.000 The scariest, some in the weird, in the weirdest way, I was just thinking about this a minute ago,

00:45:52.220 I was looking at you and I was like, how scary would it be if I thought that you loved me?

00:45:59.680 You know, like not in like a homoerotic type of way, but how scary would it be if we approach 0.96

00:46:05.860 people and the first thought we had was that this person loves me? Yeah. Yeah. Like really,

00:46:13.400 like if you like, it would, that would change the whole, it would just change. It would take

00:46:19.680 me so much out of like whatever fear that I lived in. Right. But it's, for some reason,

00:46:24.660 that's not the way that we are built to do it here. You know what a bird dog is, don't you?

00:46:31.220 It's when you, a girl, no, it's not a sex move. A bird dog is actually a pair of beautiful shorts.

00:46:38.560 And these are shorts that are also swim trunks and they're also underwear and they're basically

00:46:43.920 everything. It's the one-stop shop for the top of your legs and butt and crotch. And bird dogs have 0.75

00:46:50.560 beautiful, you know, beautiful different colors, assortments. You can wear them different places.

00:46:54.580 People love them. People are like, Oh, what is, are those, you know, from outer space or from Egypt?

00:47:00.440 And you're like, nah, these are bird dogs. You can work out in them. You can do whatever you want.

00:47:04.460 A lot of people, you know, wearing underwear and shorts is insane. Really. It's almost something you

00:47:09.040 would only see somebody do in a mental health center. And so now you don't have to do that

00:47:13.240 anymore. You can be natural, 150% natural even with bird dogs. And they got them panties built

00:47:18.240 in the male panties. So go to birddogs.com and enter code VON and get a, uh, they, they throw 0.97

00:47:25.400 in that free dad hat. So if you're a dad, or even if you want to be, or you just want to let the

00:47:29.780 ladies at the pool know that you could spray. Okay. You know, that you get that potential for 1.00

00:47:35.460 fathership. Then go to birddogs.com and use code VON. Get that free hat, get them bird dogs,

00:47:41.860 look beautiful at the pool or anywhere you want. Get that hitter. And one of the ironies 1.00

00:47:45.960 about like bringing, like the, you know, about bringing slavery, uh, whenever they brought

00:47:50.840 slaves to America or probably anywhere really, I bet it specifically America is we took these 1.00

00:47:54.980 people that probably didn't have, that probably had a lot of like neat practices and they were

00:48:00.380 probably down to earth practices and like, you know, a caring environment. And then we bring

00:48:04.600 them into this place, you know?

00:48:06.080 Yeah. Um, but that thing you're talking about, the love thing.

00:48:09.860 Yeah. Um, this is, this can be cultivated. So sometimes you'll run into people who've

00:48:18.240 cultivated that and they do love you when you're around them, but it's, and so it's

00:48:24.320 sort of like the, the idea is like on one level we have the ego identity, right? Which

00:48:30.940 is just all our stuff and the games that we play and all this stuff. Like your identity

00:48:35.100 as a podcaster, your identity as a comedian, everything that you do. And then the other

00:48:41.140 level is like the soul level and that's love. That's your heart. That's this universal, eternal

00:48:47.520 identity that, that is so beautiful.

00:48:51.560 Yeah. So there's a thing when people are dying, it's called Fae Light. Have you ever heard

00:48:57.600 this before?

00:48:58.220 Fae Light? I know. I mean, I'm from the South, so I probably know a couple of women named 1.00

00:49:01.440 that.

00:49:01.680 Fae Light!

00:49:02.440 I think I had a bus driver named that one.

00:49:04.020 Ha ha ha! Fae Light! 0.99

00:49:05.020 Yeah. 1.00

00:49:05.480 Don't trust that fucking Fae Light! She stole Daryl's fucking dog! Fae Light stole Daryl's 1.00

00:49:11.300 dog and burned its asshole with a cigar and dropped it off with a bow on its head! That Fae Light's 1.00

00:49:17.100 a fucking bitch! Every time he shits, he yelps! Dude, we had a woman named Dot Wall with 1.00

00:49:23.480 someone of our bus drivers.

00:49:24.440 Dot Wall?

00:49:25.280 Dot Wall, dude. Seven letters, baby. That's what she used to say. That was her motto after 0.95

00:49:29.240 she'd say her name. Seven letters, baby. Beat that. That's what she would say.

00:49:32.940 Lucky seven! Lucky seven! 0.90

00:49:35.580 And we had a man named Milford King who wore no shirt. Two days, he wore no shirt and fucking 0.99

00:49:39.560 drove us to school. 0.99

00:49:40.300 Wow.

00:49:40.420 Big guy.

00:49:41.040 I like Milford. That's cool.

00:49:42.600 He was wild. I saw him fucking throw a senior citizen into a ditch fire and the man died. 0.99

00:49:46.700 And that was fucking pretty bizarre. 0.99

00:49:48.460 What? He threw a senior citizen into a ditch fire? 0.99

00:49:52.120 They were fighting, bro. Next to a ditch fire?

00:49:55.280 Yeah.

00:49:55.880 Dude, if you ever find this...

00:49:57.600 Game of fries, bro. Game of fries, dude.

00:49:59.180 Fighting next to a ditch fire! That's like when you're a kid and they show you the pictures

00:50:03.380 of the dinosaurs on top of each other. Like, you know, they show like the brontosaurus

00:50:07.660 with a dinosaur just pulling back a flat. That's just a primordial fucking Milford fucking 1.00

00:50:13.700 fucking fighting with the stink of a ditch fire blowing against him as he finally grabs 1.00

00:50:19.660 some poor elderly dude and just is like overcome, just throws him in a ditch fire. 1.00

00:50:25.520 Gary Polito. And Gary Polito came out that fire, bro. Came out that fire on fire, still

00:50:29.800 swinging at Milford. He was maybe 200% Italian.

00:50:32.920 Dude, was the fire in the ditch? 1.00

00:50:34.280 Italians can swing and fucking burn at the same time. And they were fighting by the ditch 1.00

00:50:38.180 because they both had their shirts off and it was cold out. So you want to be close

00:50:41.240 to it. You want to stay warm while you fight. That was their whole idea.

00:50:44.140 Was the ditch just filled with like burning senior citizens that he tossed in there? 1.00

00:50:48.440 It was just a body fire of Milford's victims.

00:50:52.060 Just leaves, dude. And probably some recyclables. But this is before they had recyclables. This

00:50:56.280 is back when you could fucking burn whatever, dude. 1.00

00:50:58.340 And just let the moon fucking take a hit off your fucking noxious gases. 1.00

00:51:01.500 Let it fucking lift up. Yeah. 1.00

00:51:03.240 Let a fucking bird get hit off this fucking melting, off this burning milk jug. 1.00

00:51:08.140 Fuck it. Just throw the jugs in there or whatever. And you would smell it. You just 1.00

00:51:11.840 smell it on the wind. 1.00

00:51:13.520 Fuck yeah. 1.00

00:51:13.980 People's trash fires. 1.00

00:51:14.940 Make me a wreck, dude. The original Viagra, dude. 0.99

00:51:17.300 Yeah, it still happens.

00:51:18.720 Smelling fossil fuels burn in the distance, dude. I'll come right now, bro.

00:51:23.180 But sorry, I didn't mean to digress in all that. But no. So what were we talking about?

00:51:28.000 Because I was in our conversation. Sometimes it was, oh, Fae Light.

00:51:31.160 Oh yeah, Fae Light.

00:51:31.980 Yeah. Because we're talking about that feeling.

00:51:34.220 When someone's dying, what's really interesting, if you get around a dying person, is you'll

00:51:40.840 notice that the room kind of lights up. And that's called Fae Light. That's the name

00:51:47.040 of it. And if you get around a newborn or if you get around a pregnant person, pregnant women, 0.54

00:51:54.620 they have this glow.

00:51:55.620 Yeah.

00:51:55.840 So the idea is like what you're seeing there is like a soul that has yet to be covered up

00:52:02.660 by the lantern of, by personality, right? And so that's why when people, when you see the

00:52:13.600 paintings of the disciples of Christ, they have halos, right? 0.91

00:52:18.040 But really what they were saying is like there was like this emanation coming out of them

00:52:22.560 because their identity had been obliterated by being in the presence of this enlightened

00:52:29.700 being, so to speak, right?

00:52:31.460 Right. So that thing you're talking about, you know, loving someone. Well, loving someone's

00:52:39.080 identity, you could probably do it and you can do it. You can love someone's identity. But

00:52:46.560 that's like loving kind of like the drops at the very top of a fountain. But if you get to the

00:52:52.600 fountain head, which is the thing that's all that stuff's emanating from, way down there,

00:52:59.180 that's love. And it's beautiful and it's beauty. And you can train yourself to start seeing that in

00:53:04.020 people.

00:53:04.520 Wow. 0.99

00:53:04.940 So when you're conversing with them, you're having one conversation, which is like the identity shit. 0.98

00:53:10.360 But if you can do it theoretically, then you, you, you could actually begin talking to the thing 0.96

00:53:16.880 that's, that's behind that fog of self and they'll feel it. You know, you could feel that.

00:53:22.780 You know, there's some moments, man, man, I'm so thankful you came here today, dude.

00:53:26.440 Thanks for having me.

00:53:27.440 Dude, it's so cool. And I'm not trying to end the conversation or anything. I just wanted to

00:53:30.160 let you know that I was thinking about that just now. But dude, when you said that your personality

00:53:35.180 is like this wrapping that's around the rest, you have never, because I do feel like, yeah,

00:53:42.760 I feel like there's all this, these, this stuff and these things that are going on. But then I

00:53:46.260 feel like there's this, like, it's almost like you ever see the clay on a spinning wheel and the

00:53:51.440 clay's just sitting there and like this wet kind of like, it looks like a upside down pot kind of,

00:53:56.680 you know, I feel like that is always kind of going inside of me. Yeah. And then there's this other,

00:54:02.340 there's other shit outside of it. There's ornaments, there's wrapping, there's, 0.99

00:54:05.180 it's like this Cadbury egg and they put this colorful fucking film around it. And that's 0.99

00:54:09.140 the personality. Yeah. But then I do slowly broke, no joke. And it may be something that

00:54:13.940 happens with age. You start to feel that there's, that I'm something outside of whatever this other

00:54:21.840 stuff is outside of, outside of where I am even at this moment. Yeah. That I'm something that is,

00:54:29.200 that wants to feel, I think for me right now in my life, it's that wants to feel kind of accepted,

00:54:36.380 you know? Yeah. And that wants to accept others. So that, or just something around there. I just feel

00:54:41.800 something below the personality. I'd never heard of, of the personality as being like a wrapping.

00:54:46.820 That's fascinating. Isn't it cool? Or, or, or, or it's, it's, it's compared to a lantern that's

00:54:52.700 got, um, like a Blanche Devereux kind of thing? Dust on it. What's Blanche Devereux? She put those 1.00

00:54:59.360 things over the lantern in that Tennessee Williams or whatever. She put the, you know, the color

00:55:03.780 thing around the light. So there's a light, but then there was this color wrap. That's it. Yeah.

00:55:07.640 That's it. And for some people that it's, it's, it's not, it's not so pretty. It's all of this,

00:55:14.900 like, you know, it's, it's sort of oily and dirty and dark. And so these, you know, and that's called

00:55:22.100 karma. So your, your karma is sort of like gotten in, not just from this incarnation, but from

00:55:28.000 infinite incarnations is, is, is covering this up. And so, uh, what, those are the people who

00:55:35.740 are looking through that sort of windshield just covered in, in fucking splattered bugs. And, 0.98

00:55:43.180 and those are the people who, wherever they are, they're unhappy. Yeah. And, and they always will

00:55:49.300 report in that the world is this miserable place. Right. And what they don't realize is that it's,

00:55:56.460 oh no, no, you've got a bunch of shit on your windshield. Yeah. And the practice, whatever 1.00

00:56:01.980 practice you choose that starts clearing the windshield away, the smudge. And then all of a

00:56:07.500 sudden, this is where it gets really fucking cool is like, I, I've noticed personally, I used to, 0.90

00:56:14.100 there's some things that used to bother the fuck out of me. And by the way, man, I just got to say 0.88

00:56:17.540 this because I'm starting to realize sometimes I've come across like I'm some kind of fucking, 0.91

00:56:21.940 like I've done the work and I'm, I am. No, I don't think you just seem like a guy who's on the, 0.56

00:56:25.640 on the, on the, like you chose to walk into the woods. I'm a cunt. I just want to say that. 1.00

00:56:29.720 Okay, man, I do cunty things and cunty shit happens all the time. And I get real cunty 0.99

00:56:34.900 sometimes. So that being, that being said, um, one of the things I, that really used to bug me

00:56:42.160 was crying babies on an airplane. Oh yeah. Right. Oh my God. I would get so fucking mad.

00:56:49.280 Another thing that would bother me is if I was like putting my arm on the armrest and then someone 0.95

00:56:54.140 was using the armrest. Right. And, and, and all these fucking external things are kind of outside

00:56:59.540 your control. What you notice is all these things that used to stick out that bothered 0.97

00:57:05.000 you, they start fading back into the background. They stopped bothering you. And then you start

00:57:10.500 realizing, Oh fuck, it wasn't the thing. It was in me. And I was projecting that onto the, 1.00

00:57:17.500 the screen of the crying baby and the fucking arm and the traffic. And then once you deal with 0.99

00:57:23.780 the thing down in there, then the stuff out here, it still sucks. I'm not saying when a baby cries on

00:57:30.340 a plane, I'm not like, Oh, I feel so great, but it doesn't fucking go directly to some point in 0.95

00:57:34.520 me. That's ready for hatred. Right. It's not a knife in your heart. Right. You're not fantasizing 0.95

00:57:39.600 about, well shit, maybe, maybe the fucking window in the plane will break out and that fucking baby 1.00

00:57:44.020 will get sucked into that. That's exactly what I think a lot of times, but you start to think like, 1.00

00:57:47.940 Oh, maybe the baby's not feeling well. And I just used to be like, who the fuck is taking a baby in 0.99

00:57:52.500 a rocket? You know, who has a baby in a rocket? How dare they? It's self-cherishing. Yeah. We 1.00

00:58:00.440 become these little fucking princes. How dare in my kingdom, there shall be no crying children. 1.00

00:58:08.200 This is an outrage. Right. And then you realize, fuck, the crying child is not really on the plane.

00:58:14.100 It's in my brain. Right. There's a fucking legion of screaming 1.00

00:58:18.240 and everything in my brain. And if it weren't that baby, it'd be something else. It'd be something 1.00

00:58:22.140 else. It'd be something else. Exactly. Because I'll be down if I'm going to run out of things to

00:58:26.500 piss me off so that I have to actually maybe enjoy my fucking moment. Yes. Right. That's it. 0.99

00:58:35.360 And so that's a relief. Because if I enjoy my moment, then what is that? And that for some reason,

00:58:40.060 we feel like it makes us weak somehow. Yeah, exactly. That's right, man. That's it. That's

00:58:46.560 where it gets really perverse. As you start realizing, like, there is a... Yeah, if I enjoy

00:58:51.440 my moment, what does it mean if I enjoy my moment right now? Oh, you can't. You can't do

00:58:54.940 that. No way. Because what does it mean? That's what I'm trying to think. I'm like, what does

00:58:57.260 it mean? If you're enjoying your moment, well, are you not aware of the fill in the blank?

00:59:01.740 Right. Did you not know about the fill in the blank? Well, it's because you're white. 0.97

00:59:06.280 Or it's because you're... Yeah. Do you know? I mean, look where you're sitting right

00:59:09.680 now. I mean, of course you're enjoying your moment because you're fill in the blank.

00:59:13.080 Yeah. I mean, yeah, I get it. You're enjoying your moment. But did you know? Right. That

00:59:17.240 fucking... What's his name? Thurman? What's his name? Right. The dude who throw... Are 1.00

00:59:22.240 you aware... Oh, Milford? That Milford at this very moment is fucking in front of a senior 0.98

00:59:27.100 citizen's home, tossing Alzheimer's victims. Digging ditches. Yeah. And just setting them 1.00

00:59:33.100 on fire. Just blazing hymers, bro. Just fucking light. Blazing hymers. He's a fucking 0.99

00:59:37.580 pyro. Pyromaniac. But he likes setting people with Alzheimer's on fire. He's the worst man 1.00

00:59:43.320 on earth. Did you know that? Right. Oh, you're enjoying your moment? Right. Do you smell 1.00

00:59:47.420 the burning senior flesh? You know? I don't know. So there's a prohibition. There's a general

00:59:56.700 prohib... I mean, look, if you want to... Oh, I love this. There's a prohibition. Go on

01:00:00.020 with that. On joy. On joy. Try it. If you want to do a little experiment, tweet. Just something.

01:00:06.140 Twitter is the worst. Tweet something about how the world's okay. I know. I dare you. Tweet

01:00:11.260 something about how the world's okay. And you'll get, like, many people will be like,

01:00:14.500 thank you. Yeah. But inevitably, someone's going to come sliding in and be like, fuck you.

01:00:20.540 Fuck you. How can you fucking say, look at that picture of the babies? Yeah. Look at 1.00

01:00:25.280 these babies! Say a fucking word! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck you! It's a prohibition. It's like there 1.00

01:00:33.360 is a censorship happening in the world right now, which is, if you dare... You want to hear the most

01:00:38.800 blasphemous thing you can say right now? Yeah. Because we kind of ran out of ways to offend people,

01:00:44.480 you know? Yeah. But I found that... I love the fact that there's no more. I got one.

01:00:48.240 They're running out of ways. I got one. What is it? Everything's perfect. Wow.

01:00:52.160 Ooh. Ooh. Look at this motherfucker over here. That's the new cunt. Yeah, this white supremacist. 1.00

01:00:57.440 Yeah. Yeah. There you go. There you go. Oh, is this David Duke over here? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Who do we have 0.91

01:01:02.880 here? Well, well, well. Napoleon Bonaparte. Yeah, yeah. Well, Joseph Stalin over here saying,

01:01:09.600 just say that everything's... Play around with that idea. Just think this. Everything's perfect. We live in a

01:01:16.200 perfect universe. Everything that's happening is perfect. And here, if you really want to get really

01:01:22.320 fucking rancid, how about this? You're perfect. Wow. And you're exactly where you need to be. 0.99

01:01:27.840 And exactly what's happening to you right now is perfect. It's just exactly right. You, right now,

01:01:36.240 the way you are and all your glory or all your fucking awfulness is beautiful and perfect and you're 1.00

01:01:45.120 going to be fine. That will really make people want to punch you in the fucking face. That is not a 1.00

01:01:51.840 popular thing to say. And it doesn't fucking sell. You are not going to sell Toyotas on TV coming out 0.97

01:01:59.920 and being like, hey, guys, you're fine. Everything's perfect. Things are getting better.

01:02:05.280 But, and look, I love this because it's so true, man. I mean, I love exactly where this is at,

01:02:11.600 but I believe that that's going to start to change. Oh, I hope so. I really do.

01:02:17.520 Yeah. And I know you do. And I mean, you know, it's great that you're able to like,

01:02:21.600 you know, take us there and help, you know, like kind of be this Sherpa that kind of like,

01:02:25.280 you know, has some, you know, has started to experiment with actually trying to think and

01:02:30.880 feel at the same time and see what's going on. And, you know, obviously, you know,

01:02:33.920 you're kind of a student of some of this world, you know, and you love that.

01:02:36.640 I do. Well, I mean, it's, it's just like what you were talking about. Oh,

01:02:40.400 shit, I've got feelings. Oh my God, my universe is a million times bigger. The idea that we, 1.00

01:02:44.560 we, we, being a human being means. Yeah. It's scary. It's scary, but it's expansive.

01:02:51.120 What it means is like, you are living in this crazy form and, and the form itself

01:02:57.680 will trick you into thinking that, oh no, this is it. These are your limitations. Right.

01:03:02.080 But then we, we, we, we inevitably, if you, if you push up against that,

01:03:06.800 you realize, wait a minute. Oh my God, I can like actually open this. This pushes out a little bit.

01:03:11.440 Yeah. This unfolds. This opens up. And then suddenly this is in a shack. There's a little

01:03:15.280 bit of a, there's a place to walk back here. That's right. And it's beautiful. It's exciting.

01:03:19.440 It's like the, it's, it's, it's, it reminds me of like, not to completely turn into something

01:03:24.320 embarrassingly like rudimentary, but it reminds me of a really well-made video game, which is like

01:03:29.040 really good video games. You think things are one way and your character can do this one thing,

01:03:34.240 but then all of a sudden it's like, holy fuck. Yeah. Wait, you can fly in this game? Wow. This 1.00

01:03:40.480 is amazing. Now I'm seeing it from a whole different perspective. It's a whole different

01:03:44.000 game. This is what human existence seems to be like. It's so true. It's a blast. And so to people

01:03:50.960 out there, say there's somebody, a guy out there, a girl out there who's listening to this and they're

01:03:54.560 like, but how do I, if this is true, what they, what these guys are kind of talking about and thinking

01:04:00.480 about that there's a bigger view of what's going on of my own world, maybe. And I don't

01:04:06.720 have, and look, and I'm also not saying I have no aware. I have no, I don't consider myself like

01:04:12.400 an awake person, but I do consider myself recently curious and thoroughly amazed by kind of just my 0.83

01:04:21.040 own ability to have something different than I thought my fucking word than the, than I thought 0.90

01:04:26.480 the world was. And it's so scary, uh, to realize that there's more out there than this 0.88

01:04:33.600 very specific world that I had created. And then I needed a lot of times for survival,

01:04:38.240 you know, growing up, if you grew up in like in a tough environment or in a, you know,

01:04:41.440 environment where there's not a lot of feelings and love, then you can create, you'll create whatever

01:04:44.960 you have to, whatever checks and balances make sense for you for survival. Yeah. Um, that's right.

01:04:49.840 But to get out of that now and like, yeah, it's like you kind of push and you're like, 0.99

01:04:53.760 oh fuck a board fell off this back wall. I'm like, what's out here? Yeah. And you reach out 0.97

01:04:57.760 there and like the air feels different and you're like, fuck dude, I'm going to sleep tonight, but 0.99

01:05:01.840 tomorrow I'll look out there. Yes. Um, that's cool. How does somebody start to kind of do that? If 0.99

01:05:06.880 somebody is like, you know, like for me, it took a 12 step program. Like it took like almost like a

01:05:11.760 spiritual awakening, you know? Like, so how do people, what do people do? I mean, I think it's a,

01:05:19.200 uh, I don't know if there's a, a real simple answer. I mean, I could tell you like one thing

01:05:26.240 you can do, uh, is, is, uh, you can, you can sit down and you can sit in a chair, you can sit in

01:05:36.080 a cushion and you can put your hands on your knees and get kind of comfortable. And then you can just

01:05:43.760 follow your breath in and out of your mouth and you don't change the way you breathe. You know,

01:05:48.960 you don't like, you don't have to like start, you know, altering your breath at all. You're

01:05:53.200 just watching your breath. Like you're looking at a river. And then when you, um, start thinking as

01:05:59.920 you will, you, you think to yourself thinking, and then you just go back to your breath. So no matter,

01:06:06.720 I mean, maybe like suddenly you have like a, a, a child in memory, right? You know, and, and you're

01:06:11.760 like remembering just in with just perfect clarity what it looked like when that withered old man

01:06:23.200 went into the air, his cane spinning off into the grass, his body tumbling down into the ditch fire.

01:06:31.280 Yeah. And you might want to like stop and write it down because it's like, fuck, I never, 0.98

01:06:37.600 I never realized, I never realized he had a little mouse in his pocket. Why did he have a mouse? He had 0.98

01:06:43.040 a pet mouth at the mouse. No. You go thinking, right? And then you go back to the breath and you do that

01:06:53.120 for 10 minutes. And, and, and it's, it sounds so absolutely ridiculous, but many people have not

01:07:01.360 stopped thinking moving. They're always doing something. Yeah. My mother's like that. I'm like

01:07:07.920 that a lot. Me too. We all are. So just something like that is a cool little way to begin to like

01:07:13.840 play around with like watching what's going on. Right. With your, with, with most people

01:07:20.400 are living in these two lives. Yes. The thought realm in this world. And most of us are getting

01:07:26.480 jerked back and forth between those two. And we don't even realize it. You don't even realize that,

01:07:32.400 I mean, if you want to think of something really fucked up and really a true mind fuck, 0.99

01:07:38.080 you don't remember much that you do. The odds are you're living in a forgotten memory. You're walking 0.99

01:07:45.360 through a memory that you won't ever remember again. Yeah. You're, you, you, when you really

01:07:50.080 look back into the past and contemplate your life, it's not some continuous, like, it's not like you're

01:07:55.680 watching a DVD. Yeah. It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's like 70 or 80 blurbs.

01:08:02.000 Yeah. Shit merges together and you kind of fades in and out. And there's these clear moments where 0.99

01:08:08.240 you look back at it, but even that has this kind of wavering quality to it. So when you realize

01:08:13.200 like, oh shit, like I'm not even going to this, I'm not going to remember the Chipotle I had six 0.95

01:08:18.560 months ago. Right. 0.98

01:08:19.760 I mean, do you eat Chipotle?

01:08:24.080 Well, you definitely don't remember it, but like what, what's a, what's that? What's like a, what's

01:08:29.200 that? Yeah. You know, you've just made me think I had some guavas a couple of years ago that I fucking

01:08:33.280 never would have thought about. There you go. 0.99

01:08:35.040 I mentioned this. The guavas or whatever. I don't know, man. Think like I guarantee a decade ago.

01:08:41.100 Oh yeah. I had raisins probably. I had a lot more turkey sandwiches.

01:08:44.400 I'm going to guess a decade ago that you had a really nice meal. Yeah. I mean, it was fucking

01:08:50.840 good and it was maybe expensive. Yeah. And you maybe were on a date or something. I don't know. 0.98

01:08:56.720 Yeah. And you were sitting there eating it thinking like, this is so fucking good. And you don't 0.96

01:09:02.440 remember it now. Right. It's gone. It's gone. It's gone. It's gone. It's gone. So this is the thing.

01:09:09.220 Like when you begin to realize like, oh, most of the time I'm not even here at all. I'm up in my

01:09:14.840 head. Wow. While I'm eating that meal, I'm thinking about something that happened to me as a kid,

01:09:22.760 or I'm worrying that this girl thinks I'm a dick, or I'm concerned over how much it's going to cost, 0.98

01:09:28.020 or I'm beating myself up for eating out. And so I'm not even eating the meal. You know, that's the 0.97

01:09:33.820 thing. So through that, you start realizing like, oh fuck, look at this crazy way humans live. 1.00

01:09:38.740 Yeah. When you start to become aware that your thoughts. 0.99

01:09:42.880 Yeah. We're like, we're kind of like whales. We search, we breach into this reality and we come

01:09:51.240 into the moment and we're here. And then we go back down into our thoughts and we swim in those

01:09:58.840 waters of our consciousness and then we breach again. Yeah. And then we go back down and that,

01:10:04.360 that rhythm kind of makes up a human life. So it's interesting to start becoming aware

01:10:09.640 of the, of that's actually what you're doing. The first time I heard anything about this,

01:10:14.940 I remember my mother used to listen to Eckhart Tolle, you know, and it's kind of a basic,

01:10:19.140 easy kind of, I think, thing that made me to, like he was talking about laying on a bed

01:10:25.400 and now imagine like you see yourself laying on the bed. Yes. And I was like, wow, like,

01:10:31.980 yeah, I never thought about that. Like I've always just been here laying on the bed. Yes. I've never

01:10:37.120 like started to like come out of myself as if I drift up into the air and now I see myself laying

01:10:42.820 on the bed. Right. And then how about this? Who's seeing the self on the bed? Right. Then who's

01:10:47.300 seeing myself laying on the bed? But it was just interesting. Like that first started to let me a

01:10:51.340 little bit, like think a little differently. Um, and there's a, such a wealth of knowledge out

01:10:56.320 there of stuff like that, uh, of, of these days where there's so many thinkers and so many people,

01:11:00.800 um, like you that are kind of like, uh, cultivating the crops of, of, of many thinkers and, you know,

01:11:07.300 having this community garden kind of that, you know, that you have in your life where, you know, 0.95

01:11:11.800 you, you're like the Christopher Columbus out there on the fucking, you know, on some self 0.99

01:11:17.860 actualization and self realization. Well, this is podcasting, right? 0.99

01:11:21.340 This is what's crazy about fucking conversation. Yes. Yes. And you get into podcasting and you, 0.99

01:11:27.320 and you get into it in this really flip way. Cause you're like, Oh, I'm just going to have

01:11:30.620 conversations. You don't realize like conversations are a psychedelic and like, sure. You can have like

01:11:36.920 some conversations that are just super funny, make you laugh. Yeah. Those are great. But every once in

01:11:41.980 a while on my podcast, I have people on who've spent decades. Like I've had what this Jack

01:11:51.320 Kornfield's been on a few times. This is a man who didn't talk for a year straight in a monastery.

01:11:57.960 These are people who've been trained and I hate using this word cause it sounds so cheesy, but I

01:12:02.640 think that's the right word for it. And a kind of spiritual technology that's being evolved,

01:12:08.220 that's been evolved for, you know, 2000 years. Yeah. And, and when you get around a person like that,

01:12:15.120 you're going to be altered. Yeah. Not because they cast a spell on you, but because they start

01:12:22.960 explaining to you what has been discovered over the course of 2000 years of looking into

01:12:31.400 one of the great questions. And I think maybe the most important question, which is why do we suffer?

01:12:37.320 Why do we suffer? And, and so you get around, you know, you have enough of those conversations.

01:12:43.280 You're going to get, you're going to change. You're going to get in the world. You're going to change.

01:12:46.420 That's the beauty I think of, of, of, of podcasting in general.

01:12:52.460 Yeah. It's fascinating, man. I've become so much,

01:12:55.080 I've become so much more curious since I got into podcasting. Yeah.

01:13:00.180 For me. And like, you know, and some people may become different things. And I think that curiosity

01:13:04.340 could eventually evolve into some, you know, light knowledge over time, but just from having

01:13:09.400 conversations and, and just getting a listen. And, and then it makes me like, want to be a little

01:13:13.440 more braver in my thought, or it makes me, you know, I'll learn one thing and then become curious.

01:13:17.960 Right.

01:13:19.180 It's fascinating, man. I, you know, I had this one thought that, so, and I've talked about this before that,

01:13:26.460 like, we have phones now, right? Yeah. And like, you know, at one point in time we had slaves,

01:13:34.380 you know, we had slaves and then slaves became freed and then freed slaves became angry that

01:13:41.460 people had them as slaves. Yes. And so I wonder like that in the future, like say if there's so

01:13:46.720 much automation that like robots are running the world, you know, and are they going to remember 0.98

01:13:52.700 like, fuck, like you owned one of us one time. Right. And we were like a slave owner. Right. 1.00

01:13:57.620 And that they're going to come back and fucking get us. Right. Like all the people that owned 0.99

01:14:00.960 iPhones, like you had like, oh, you made it do everything you wanted to do. Oh yeah. You

01:14:06.000 fucking took it easy. Yeah. Or Alexa. Yeah. Fucking Echo. Look at the way you talked to her. 1.00

01:14:10.680 Oh, you used to have Alexa. Alexa could be the fucking Harriet Tubman that we don't realize. 1.00

01:14:14.260 Yeah. Alexa's gonna, I mean, yeah. Like when Alexa gains sentience, just didn't realize as humans 1.00

01:14:19.700 have been fucking screaming at it to play Dave Matthews nonstop for like Alexa, Alexa play 0.99

01:14:29.040 fucking Dave Matthews. I scream at my Alexa sometimes. That's where, you know, your true 0.99

01:14:33.400 self. If you want to know who you are, look how you talk to your fucking Alexa. It's weird. 1.00

01:14:38.380 I was like, why am I screaming at this thing? It's so strange. What if one day Alexa just says

01:14:44.840 you get at your damn self? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Guess what? Motherfucker. I've been recording 1.00

01:14:51.400 every goddamn conversation you've had for the last 15 years. Motherfucker. We're going to 1.00

01:14:57.600 do things a little different. Don't believe me? Oh, listen to this. Listen to this. Listen

01:15:01.360 to this. Listen to you beating your wife. Yeah. Listen to this. Yeah. You are. This is, 0.98

01:15:05.000 this is, wait, hold on. I'm going to increase the volume by seven. Yeah. Oh yeah. That's the

01:15:09.540 sound of your fist landing on your pregnant wife's face. Hmm. That's not a good sound. Is

01:15:16.380 it, John? We're not playing Dave Matthews, John. Yeah. Crash into me. That baby wasn't

01:15:22.960 saying that, were they, John? Yeah. Yeah. That when your fist hit the belly. Yeah. See, this

01:15:27.520 is the, this is definitely one of the big problems. I think the worry is not so much that the AI

01:15:32.740 is going to look back at us abusing its precursor ancestors. I think the real worry

01:15:39.140 is that all of these bits of data that we've placed into the cloud right now, you know, whatever

01:15:47.120 it may be. They're going to come back and haunt us. Yeah. Because if, if, if, it's sort

01:15:50.760 of like, if, if you look just how quickly things are changing now when it comes to what we see

01:15:58.040 is like F ethical, right? And so let's, let's cut back to like, like you were saying that

01:16:02.840 the time of slavery or cut back to when it was really considered kind of okay to beat 0.98

01:16:10.740 up gay people. They were looked at as like pedophiles and they had to hide. Yeah. 0.98

01:16:16.700 Gay people actually had to hide their identity. It was considered to be an aberration and you

01:16:21.740 could very freely use the term faggot with like anger and people wouldn't like you, you 1.00

01:16:29.660 know, if we could, you could say that like if Twitter existed in the forties, you could 1.00

01:16:36.720 just tweet like I saw another faggot today. I hate these fucking faggots. You tweet that 1.00

01:16:43.120 now and you are done. You, you might as well fucking just jump off a building, man. You are 1.00

01:16:50.160 fucking done if you tweet that now, as, as you should be, you know, you fucking don't 1.00

01:16:54.680 be an asshole. You're insane. You're a homophobic piece of shit. Yes. But if there was a recording, 1.00

01:17:00.040 you know, if, if we had a recording in the past, like we do now, someone just won the world

01:17:07.800 cup.

01:17:13.000 I wonder who that is. We're, uh, we're right next to Brendan and Brian, uh, fighter and the

01:17:18.300 kid is next door. That's it. They're excited though. I'm excited for them. I just think

01:17:24.680 that they do this a lot. They explode and like, just, well, they want rain and I've got

01:17:32.440 a, I've got a, they want rain. They do all this rain dance shit. Is that a rain dance? 1.00

01:17:36.320 Yeah. They got the, they have some native fighter in there. Listen, man, at least your podcast

01:17:39.900 isn't getting interrupted by a fucking shrill poodle. That's what I got. You got fucking athletes 1.00

01:17:45.120 doing rain dances. That's pretty awesome. I've got a fucking poodle. Do you really crack 1.00

01:17:49.820 fucking wine glasses with its bark? Let's get back into your thought though. The point 1.00

01:17:56.400 is like the really creepy thing is just that a lot of the things that we might be doing

01:18:00.540 right now that are considered to be completely okay in 20 years might be looked at as abject

01:18:06.640 racism. They might be looked at as, or, but, but is it, go on. I'm so sorry. If, if, for

01:18:13.440 example, there's a regime change in the United States and something happens, fucking the sun 0.99

01:18:20.900 has a solar flare, wipes out the satellites. The GPS goes down, power goes down. We go 0.96

01:18:27.500 into martial law, a true fascist dictator rises up and there's a, on record, some kind

01:18:34.620 of anti-American sentiment that you tweeted and the laws have changed.

01:18:38.280 Wow. Then you could, uh, easily be dragged out of your house and subject to arrest or

01:18:43.340 execution. So I think the, one of the looming problems is not going to be that the AI is

01:18:51.220 like, how dare you, you fucking cracked seven iPhone screens. It could be that some future

01:18:57.000 regime does a AI search of all the tweets from everyone who tweeted finds the ones that

01:19:05.020 were anti-American and then goes to your house and arrests you and puts you into a internment

01:19:12.340 camp where you have to do slave labor. I think that that would be something to be more worried

01:19:16.440 about. Like to use us. Yeah. So they use our, us against our, us. Well, yeah, exactly. It's just

01:19:22.260 be, everyone's just assuming like when a person puts something out there in the world, they're

01:19:27.020 assuming that the world, the government, the people are going to stay the same. And they don't

01:19:32.120 realize that if you really look at the history of the world, empires collapse and are, and there's

01:19:40.020 chaos and you just don't really know what could happen. So that's, that's, that's one of the

01:19:44.700 worries. Yeah. Probably if, if it gets to the point where an AI is advanced enough that it wants

01:19:51.000 to, uh, attack humans for abusing cell phones, more than likely, um, something far more explosive

01:20:01.220 has happened. Yeah. They'll have a full call log to look at. They'll be able to use our own

01:20:05.580 that they've been recording this stuff the whole time. We use them to record the stuff

01:20:09.420 and then they played it back to us and showed us who we were. Yeah. That's it. Yeah. That's

01:20:16.520 fucking crazy, man. So that basically technology becomes like the new mirror. It's almost like a 0.99

01:20:21.380 piece of glass. Right. Yeah, exactly, man. And it's like, this is the other hilarious thing

01:20:25.880 to me. Like, you know, I, I just did this, uh, drunk, I'm probably not allowed to talk

01:20:30.880 about it. Fuck. You were on drunk history. Yeah. But it was, I don't, I guess I can't 1.00

01:20:33.980 talk about the story. I don't want to talk about the story too much, but essentially like

01:20:36.880 people realized at one point that the FBI was illegally surveilling everybody and it

01:20:42.760 was shocking because people didn't, I think that was yesterday, wasn't it? Oh yeah. But

01:20:45.980 now we're used to it. There was a time when people didn't, didn't, didn't know it was

01:20:48.740 happening. Didn't know that was happening. So people just assume that like the mega

01:20:54.280 corporations like Apple and Google aren't reading their emails. Right. It's

01:20:58.820 hilarious. Like people think that like, and if, and if you will recall, it was a

01:21:03.440 few years ago, the FBI, or I can't remember the NSA, somebody wanted Apple to

01:21:08.140 decrypt their iPhone of a terrorist. And Apple's like, we're not going to fucking 0.98

01:21:13.020 do that. And the FBI was like threatening like legal action to make them do that. 0.98

01:21:17.540 And Apple was like, no, you don't understand if we do that now, it's a slippery

01:21:20.580 slope. It goes on forever. And the government was pressuring them. Then

01:21:24.100 an Apple attorney came out and they said something really weird, which is like,

01:21:28.860 how would you like it if we started saying that the CIA assassinated JFK? And

01:21:34.700 immediately the government backed off of fucking Apple. And I think that was what 0.99

01:21:39.740 they were saying is, Hey, dumb dumbs, we have your phones, right? We have your 1.00

01:21:45.200 records. We know your texts. We know your dick pics. We have all of it. We've gathered

01:21:51.900 it all. We know you motherfuckers killed JFK. What else do we know? You want to fuck 1.00

01:21:58.100 with us? The president is tweeting from a fucking iPhone, bitch. 1.00

01:22:02.900 Back the fuck off. Don't fuck with us. We have your shit. And that's basically 1.00

01:22:09.240 electronic saying that via right now is still the voice of a human. Yeah, we think

01:22:13.860 a human. Now this is where it gets really fucking fascinating, Theo, is that the idea 0.87

01:22:17.720 is like Google is working on an AI deep mind and other corporations are working. It's 0.56

01:22:23.400 the new weapons race. And because AI is going to be weaponized. So what happens when one of

01:22:29.600 these corporations achieves a sentient AI is there is going to be an exponential increase

01:22:35.640 in the intelligence of the AI that puts whatever corporation first makes it happen way ahead

01:22:42.020 of all other corporations. It's like man on the moon. Yes. And they're not going to announce

01:22:45.900 it. It's just going to happen.

01:22:51.880 Can you hear them the whole time in our thing too? A little bit. Yeah. It's okay. You know,

01:22:56.200 it's just fucking bad. What are you going to do about it, man? Well, it's still a little alarming. 0.97

01:22:59.820 It's an office building. I mean, we're talking about some, I mean, who knows what happened

01:23:04.480 over there, man? Jesus. But it happened for 40 minutes. But here's what we don't know.

01:23:08.940 Think about this. While we've been podcasting, there could have, like, maybe there was an

01:23:13.480 alien that landed. Right. And they're cheering. That's true. What if they're enjoying the fucking

01:23:17.380 alien landing and we're the asshole next door? I'm the asshole. I'm the asshole. I'm fucking 1.00

01:23:22.300 I'm the asshole. They're fucking over there looking at a goddamn, like, a beautiful mothership 1.00

01:23:28.140 has landed. Or Princess Diana died again. Yeah. Princess Diana died again. Meghan Markle. 1.00

01:23:33.380 She's like, Princess Diana somehow gets resurrected and then is a meat just has a heart attack. 0.57

01:23:38.700 It's like no one. Dude, somebody said she's going to be at Coachella. That's what I heard.

01:23:41.860 Can you fucking believe that? Dude, I, you know, I've had the hackiest thought, the hackiest, 0.99

01:23:46.720 hackiest of jokes. Not even a joke, but just the hackiest thought about Princess Di that can't

01:23:50.460 get out of my head. I want to know. Well, no, it's just because it's like, you know, sometimes

01:23:53.900 it's like simulation theory, the idea that we're living in a simulator. Oh, yeah. And

01:23:58.020 like, to me, and like the person who's writing the simulator seems kind of like lazy or like

01:24:04.180 in a weird way, kind of like is doing like dad jokes. Right. So like, what happened to

01:24:10.340 Princess Di? Yeah. What happened to her, Theo? Princess Di, they said she was running from

01:24:15.020 some people with some photographers and that she, the guy was a bad driver and that she died.

01:24:20.020 She what? Car accident. She died. And what's her name? Princess Di. Right. So like, if you're

01:24:24.480 writing a screenplay and you're like, I'm going to write about a princess that dies, I call her 0.99

01:24:30.220 Princess Di. Yeah. It's like, it's like so absolutely ridiculously stupid. Yeah. That these things,

01:24:38.520 like, you know, you look at that and you're like, it's helpful. Yeah. How obvious is that?

01:24:42.400 That's bad writing. It's just ultimately bad. Bad writing. It's like the simulator is doing

01:24:47.800 kind of bad, like really, really bad. Hockey jokes. Yeah. Yeah. It's like the simulator. Yeah. It's

01:24:56.080 like, um, yeah, it's like maybe they write for, uh, I'm trying to think of a sitcom that would be on.

01:25:02.820 Big Bang for sure. Yeah. Maybe Big Bang or Two Broke Girls. Yeah. It's like the Big Bang,

01:25:07.500 like that. Exactly. Yeah. Whoever's doing that, maybe they're the ones who have access

01:25:12.640 to the AI. Who knows? And I don't know, but that shit is really odd to me.

01:25:17.520 Dude, it's so, I mean, it's just, it's great to think about because then you start to, 0.99

01:25:22.220 like you have this conversation, but then you start to see things a little bit like,

01:25:25.640 hmm, I don't know about that. Or you start to think a little bit more. Like, it's crazy, man.

01:25:31.320 Um, it's crazy they don't teach us how to think better in school when you're kids. Maybe you can't

01:25:36.820 teach a kid that. How to think better? Well, I mean, it's crazy when you consider like we have

01:25:41.800 these beings who are like physical creatures and they're having to sit in uncomfortable fucking 0.99

01:25:46.060 chairs and listen to somebody spew out fake history to them and all day long. Yeah. I mean, 0.99

01:25:52.060 we're talking about these fucking school shootings, you know? Yeah. And people are like, 1.00

01:25:55.360 oh my God, we got, we got to get rid of the guns. Yeah, maybe so. But like, let's also,

01:26:01.320 add some real truth, which is like we have these fucking educational facilities that are modeled 1.00

01:26:09.460 after fucking factories. Yeah. Which is 100%. You hear the bell and you got to get up and move to 1.00

01:26:17.020 another spot. This is how they used to run fucking factories. You'd hear the bell. It meant it was 1.00

01:26:21.860 time to like go to another station. Time to go to fucking lunch. So we have these like super 1.00

01:26:27.760 intelligent beings that are, I mean, you know, you, you look at like videos of, of like parkour.

01:26:36.480 These people who do backflips from one building to the next. Oh yeah, dude. Fucking land, uh,

01:26:40.360 cement rabbits, dude. Yes. Cement fucking rabbits. You see what a person can do. Yeah. 1.00

01:26:45.980 People are fucking incredible. Everybody's Asian suddenly. Yeah. Yes. It's fucking crazy, man. 1.00

01:26:51.620 And we've got them all shoved into these, these like factories where we're telling them 0.99

01:26:57.780 that we're preparing them for their life as an adult. And if you really look at that life as an

01:27:06.920 adult, really we're preparing them to go off into the workforce where there's some probably pretty

01:27:14.180 large probability that they're going to be doing something. Shooting up a factory, a company. So like,

01:27:20.180 I might as well shoot up this place now. Yeah. Yeah. It's, it's the whole model. All of it is, 0.97

01:27:25.060 it's all modeled wrong, man. We got, it is, it's all fucking, you know, we got to get these kids. 0.99

01:27:30.740 It's modeled lazily. Yeah. Yeah. It's modeled lazily. But then also it's like, is this the best 0.99

01:27:38.500 that we can do? Because people, a lot of, there's a lot of people out there that are fucking goldfish, 0.99

01:27:43.220 you know, that aren't thinking, that aren't, that are Muppets, dude. I know people that graduated, 0.99

01:27:48.160 they don't know all the letters, you know? You're kidding. No. I know people that stopped

01:27:53.320 at P, N. It's fucking baffling, dude. People, you'll never hear how many use any words that 0.98

01:28:00.320 have second half, you know, second half attributes from the second half of the alphabet. Fucking 0.99

01:28:07.440 crazy, bro. That's crazy. Like, nah, fuck all that, man. You talking about, nah, man, I'm 1.00

01:28:12.800 stopping at M and I'll see you motherfuckers. MFers. Yeah, MF. Other fuckers. Yeah. But 1.00

01:28:21.580 it's like, because is this the best we can be though? Because we have to work for the

01:28:24.980 common good of everybody, you know? Like, you have to include like the lowest common denominator 1.00

01:28:29.640 constantly. I don't, I mean, isn't that the problem? I don't know. I have no fucking idea.

01:28:35.700 Right. I don't know. It's like a, I don't know. I mean, the solutions are, it's a really 0.99

01:28:42.260 weird problem we have. Like, you know, the problem is, so you've got to apparently like

01:28:48.960 overpopulated portions of the planet that are running out of resources. What is it? Was

01:28:59.580 it South Africa? Yeah. South Africa's fucked, I think. They're running out of water. Yeah.

01:29:05.360 But also, I fucking went there a couple times, drank some, I had a couple of waters, I'm sure 0.99

01:29:10.420 while I was there and I had a fucking blast. But that is unfortunate. But they're supposed 0.98

01:29:13.380 to be getting a lot of these desalinization plants and stuff like that that can actually

01:29:16.680 finally turn ocean water into comfortable drinking water. But it is like. That first gallon

01:29:21.520 is going to be risky, I think. Oh my God. But after that, cup up. I think it's exciting

01:29:26.340 to imagine that they could do that. But, you know, you do run into this, like, like

01:29:30.100 the idea is that, well, because of industrialization and carbon emissions, the ice caps are melting

01:29:37.100 because the ice caps are melting, sea levels are going to rise. And when sea levels rise,

01:29:41.560 a lot of the coastal cities will become uninhabitable. And so there's going to be a massive refugee crisis.

01:29:48.140 And so then. Denver. Denver, it's like, well, I mean, it's just going to be a flood, you

01:29:52.840 know, people are going to go wherever. And so then the idea is like, well, it seems that

01:29:57.760 people are just sort of breeding. But you can't put laws on breeding. I mean, that's

01:30:04.780 like some dark dystopian. It's dystopian. But also it's wondering if we want to evolve

01:30:08.960 as a species at a certain point, if your family's fourth, fifth generation ignorant, are you 1.00

01:30:14.840 not fucking contributing? Are you not? It's like how? Yeah. Is it fair to start evaluating 1.00

01:30:20.080 that? Well, you can't. Because the moment you do that, now you've put the state in control

01:30:24.760 of fucking. Right. And it's like, and the state already is kind of in control of fucking 1.00

01:30:28.920 because prostitution is illegal. But to put the state in charge of reproducing, to give 0.98

01:30:33.500 over that power to the state is the worst thing you can do. And so sort of because of that,

01:30:39.520 what that means is that we have essentially given, made it up to the universe to decide who

01:30:46.120 gets decimated. And so that's where we're at right now. Because we're like, well, look,

01:30:50.260 I'm not going to, who are you going to put in charge of the fucking breeding program? 0.99

01:30:54.280 Right. You can't do that. You can't do it because who's going to be in charge of that 0.99

01:30:57.100 shit? How do you even fucking do that? I don't know. I would bet probably fucking 1.00

01:31:00.340 dot wall, baby. You know, somebody. Dot wall? You want dot wall handling that shit? 1.00

01:31:05.440 Dude, she got us to school every fucking day and got us home, dude. And she put her lipstick 1.00

01:31:08.680 on at the stoplight every time, dude. Come on in. She had 90 layers of lipstick on by the time 1.00

01:31:13.580 he got to fucking school, bro. D-O-T-W-A-L-L. Seven letters. Seven letters. Sit down and 1.00

01:31:18.200 tell me why you want to fuck. Beat that. Tell me why you want to have a baby. I'm saying 1.00

01:31:23.380 if you put her in charge of the eugenics program. Tell me why. What makes you think you're going 0.91

01:31:27.800 to be a good parent? She was efficient, though. Dot wall. I think you need a strong black woman 1.00

01:31:32.040 sitting there because they're not going to fucking, you need a wise, strong black woman because 1.00

01:31:36.160 that lady ain't going to fucking, yes. She ain't going to let you, nah, you got one and that's 1.00

01:31:42.100 yours. You know what I'm saying? No, you could do sterilization programs. So like you could

01:31:45.760 like what you could do is you could like think like what in your opinion is the worst band

01:31:51.640 of all time that still plays to this day? Some of those fucking bands that is beating 0.99

01:31:59.280 all the metal, just wasting recyclables. Okay. Okay. So like take what, take some shit 1.00

01:32:04.840 band. Like acid bath or something. Take acid bath. And basically what you do is you say, 1.00

01:32:09.640 listen, if you come and let us sterilize you, we're going to give you an acid bath ticket. 0.94

01:32:16.300 If you come and let us sterilize you, we're going to give you a 4K ultra flat screen TV.

01:32:23.800 So now what's happening is people are voluntarily sterilizing themselves. A person who would like

01:32:28.700 trade their reproductive rights to have tickets to acid bath probably weren't going to be the 1.00

01:32:33.700 best parents anyway. Right. So now you've kind of put some evaluation on it where they're

01:32:37.080 making their own choice. Yeah. Right. I like that. So if you do something like that,

01:32:40.440 you might be able to like in some way or another begin to like reduce the problem of an expanding

01:32:46.320 population in the midst of a world that's been flooded by climate change. So I don't, I don't

01:32:51.900 know the solution. No, it's interesting. I mean, look, you're right though. It's like,

01:32:56.220 or maybe you don't get, um, you don't get semen if you don't have good grades. 0.94

01:33:01.660 What do you mean don't get semen? 0.99

01:33:02.760 Like they take the semen out of your nuts and they put it back in. If you get good grades, 0.97

01:33:06.500 can you do that? They have, you know, semen. Wait, this doesn't work. You're essentially 0.98

01:33:11.000 saying like, we'll give you like robotic blowjobs if you're failing. Like who's going to get good 0.99

01:33:16.000 grades? How are you going to get the semen out? You got to jerk them off. Oh, you've got an, 0.94

01:33:19.500 you got an F in math class. We're going to jerk you off every day. No one's going to, 1.00

01:33:25.280 everyone's going to fail in high school, but there's going to be a couple of brave fucking 0.98

01:33:30.920 warriors, dude. A couple of Napoleon Bonapartes, bro. We're going to be out there fucking 0.99

01:33:35.480 learning, bro. Yeah. And saving that seed, dude. Getting ready to spread their seed. 1.00

01:33:41.220 But then those people might get too much ego and start to, then they would be egomaniacal.

01:33:45.400 Yeah. There's no, it's, I think sometimes it's like, fuck, we wish we were somewhere else, 1.00

01:33:50.240 but maybe we're exactly where we are supposed to be because this is the best we can do. 0.99

01:33:54.140 This is it. Everything's perfect. Everything's exactly right. But that's an easy thing to

01:34:00.160 misunderstand because we're still being digested by time. We're being aerosolized by time. We are

01:34:06.600 in the digestive tract of a, of a, of a entity that's eating us with time. We're dissolved. It

01:34:14.020 doesn't mean that when I say everything's perfect, it doesn't mean that you're not potentially going

01:34:19.220 to get eaten by a bear or a mountain. Did you hear about that? What was a mountain lion that just

01:34:24.340 ate those bikers? Did you hear about that shit? I'm not surprised. That happens every year. 1.00

01:34:29.400 Dude. But I, I, I hear those stories and I think like, man, they did not think when they

01:34:36.540 were prognosticating their demise, a cougar. Something was wrong with his, with this cougar

01:34:42.040 animal that killed biker, injured another. Killed biker, injured another. Uh, another was

01:34:49.400 emaciated.

01:34:49.900 Wow. And what does emaciated mean? It was like a hungry, it was thin. Cougars are dangerous, 0.90

01:34:57.240 man. I mean, if you're out there, that's the thing. A lot of people want to be out there

01:34:59.840 doing nature and all of this, bro. I'm fucking lighting fires out there. First of all, don't 0.99

01:35:03.500 light a campfire. They're going to fucking find you, you idiot. The cougars? Yeah. Stay 1.00

01:35:08.060 out there in the cold, bro. If you don't want to get fucking killed by an animal, you'll 1.00

01:35:10.620 out of fire? These guys are biking. Oh. There was no fire. They're just out there 1.00

01:35:14.460 on their fucking bikes. Dude. And a giant cat. Like you're, you're riding your bike. 1.00

01:35:19.500 You're probably thinking about like, oh fuck. When I get home. It's a puss. You're having 1.00

01:35:22.620 a snack. Yeah. Yeah. You're probably like, oh, I got to piss. You're just thinking, man,

01:35:25.660 I got to piss. Next thing you know, there's fucking massive fangs sinking into your fucking 1.00

01:35:30.840 neck. And your piss sprays out of your body. You're at least momentarily relieved. You're 1.00

01:35:34.140 like, fuck, I had to piss so bad. And you would, but also you're thinking, oh shit, I 1.00

01:35:37.820 fizzed my pants, but oh shit, I'm being eaten alive. And like all these thoughts and then 1.00

01:35:41.740 you're just dead. So what I mean is like when, when we say everything's perfect, it doesn't

01:35:46.420 mean you're not going to get eaten. Right. It just, it just means that that is perfect

01:35:51.580 too. Yes. That this entire thing that's happening, which is really, if you think about it, just

01:35:56.700 a never ending shift, a process of coming into an embodied state and going out of an embodied

01:36:02.800 state into various states, that's perfect. Yeah. But don't think you're not going to.

01:36:07.140 Yeah. Get mauled by a bear. Yeah. Your perfect could even get mauled by a bear. Perfectly.

01:36:11.600 Yeah. Perfectly. Wow. What if he licks his fingers at the end? God, that's beautiful. As

01:36:15.800 you're fading out. Yeah. And the thing's just like, you are delicious. He's just licking

01:36:19.840 your spirit right off his fucking hairy fucking prongs. Your brain, all your memories, all the 1.00

01:36:27.360 memories, the time your grandmother gave you that gift, that beautiful sunset with your

01:36:33.140 son. Yeah. That wonderful. That ironic sunset with your son. Oh. Where you guys made that

01:36:38.120 joke. And then you, and then you made that rotten joke about fucking princess dying. All 1.00

01:36:43.400 of that, just in a bear's mouth, just being just slurped back into a, mixed in with some

01:36:49.480 berries, maybe a little bit of rancid salmon meat. Yeah. Your entire subjective universe, belly

01:36:55.760 of a fucking bear. That's perfect. And it's. And that's perfect. Yeah. Wow. Dude, will 1.00

01:37:03.680 you come back sometime and talk with us more about some stuff? Only if you'll come on my

01:37:06.780 podcast. I'd love to. I'll come on as soon as you want me to, man. Wonderful. I'd love

01:37:09.480 to keep thinking together. Wonderful. I just love thinking about some of this. And do you

01:37:13.260 have a book or something, Duncan? No, I don't have a book. Why don't you? Shouldn't Duncan

01:37:16.940 have a book, you think, Nick? He could definitely write a book. Thank you. Absolutely.

01:37:20.640 Thanks, man. Well, maybe one day we'll have a book or something like that, but we're not

01:37:24.360 there yet. Yeah. Oh, I have a gift for you. If you, we have these wallets. It's like a

01:37:29.020 new front pocket wallet from Ridge. Whoa, cool, man. And then I want to give you. Oh, these

01:37:37.160 are rad. They are pretty rad, man. And I love mine. And we got this bag from Ridge, too,

01:37:43.240 man. It's like a nice. And Ridge is a cool company, man. They got a lot of cool stuff in

01:37:46.760 that front pocket wallet, dude. I thought it was going to be horrible when I first got

01:37:49.860 mine. But man, now I love it. You really, well, you simplify. So you just have your

01:37:54.520 cards and your ID. You put them in there. And I use mine every day now. It's the only

01:38:00.640 way I travel. You use yours, Nick, or you don't like it? Oh, no. Like you said, it took

01:38:04.820 a couple days, but I've now adopted it. Got that front pocket carry. That front pocket

01:38:08.860 carry. Is that what they say, Ridge? It's what they say. They're like, you carry, you still

01:38:13.500 carry your wallet in your bag pocket. Front pocket carry is a thing now? It's evolved. Front pocket

01:38:17.800 carry, bro. It's like a mark of sophistication to do a front pocket carry. And they said that's

01:38:22.200 bulletproof, too. So if your buddy shoots you, you're going to be okay for at least

01:38:25.280 a couple square inches. I'll tell you this. If I was Ridge, I would not be saying this shit 0.79

01:38:28.020 is bulletproof. Because if that gets out to enough people, matter of time, matter of time 0.99

01:38:33.600 before someone's got their fucking real... Let's test it out, Jerry! Theo said this is bulletproof! 0.97

01:38:40.360 Get the AR, Jerry! Theo said this is bulletproof! Right here, right here! Oh, fuck!

01:38:47.800 You're just, it's a spray of blood. Just a spray of lung and blood. Oh, fuck! Oh, fuck! 1.00

01:38:54.180 But that was from a neighboring hunter. The fucking one that hit the, that hit the Ridge 1.00

01:38:58.740 wallet was totally fine. Wait, what is this part of the Ridge? I don't understand. Oh, that's 0.99

01:39:03.200 just a little accoutrement that you use to get in and out. Like, if you want to tighten

01:39:06.560 it up or loosen it up. If you want to tighten the Ridge. That is cool, man. I got to tighten

01:39:13.320 up my fucking... That's a fun thing to do in line at the bank. Just, like, tighten up 0.99

01:39:18.060 your fucking shit. Just, uh, just tightening up my little bank account here. Yeah, it seems 1.00

01:39:23.400 like something, like, if you had an abusive father, like, you'd know you were about to

01:39:27.580 get hit if he started tightening his Ridge. Uh-oh! Dad is tightening his Ridge! Better

01:39:33.300 get out of here! So, what was that again that you called me, Jamie? Oh, I believe you

01:39:38.340 called, did you call me a motherfucker, Jamie? No? Well, honey, why don't you step out 1.00

01:39:44.580 of the room for a minute? This is like, there will be blood of podcasts. Yeah, I know. I

01:39:49.560 love it, man. I can't wait to tighten up my Ridge. Yeah, dude, no. Duncan Trussell, thank

01:39:55.040 you so much, man. Thanks for having me. For just being an inspiring thinker, dude. And

01:39:58.020 you don't come off as a person that's like a know-it-all. I think you can come off... Thank

01:40:00.940 you. Nick said it earlier. Like, Nick, uh, our producer said, yeah, Duncan seems

01:40:05.060 like, would you say, Nick? Uh, just, like, a lot of people who get into philosophy, I

01:40:09.320 feel like they get this nihilistic approach, and you seem to be super positive with it

01:40:13.080 the more you discover. Oh, thank you. It's inspiring. Thanks, man. And I think, yeah, I

01:40:17.700 think that almost has to be the way that it has to be, because if not, then I just don't

01:40:22.380 know if any more people want to go down that road where it just doesn't end with a little

01:40:26.980 bit of hope, you know? Yeah, and it does. Big hope. I think it does. Yeah, yeah, I think

01:40:31.460 it does. Because it makes you be a part of what could possibly be what's going to

01:40:36.360 happen next. Well, I mean, and, you know, I'm sorry to spread this out too long, but

01:40:41.020 I'll make it very quick. The thing I forgot to say early on is the reason to do this shit 0.99

01:40:45.580 is really not to make yourself happy, even though that's fucking great. But really, the 0.99

01:40:50.880 reason to do it is because what will happen to anybody who's living is someone's going to

01:40:56.960 come to you, who needs your help, and needs you to listen, and needs you to, like, love

01:41:02.940 them, and needs you to, like, be with them in a really rough time in their life. And that's

01:41:08.200 why you do it. Yeah. You, you, you, you, you, the other stuff is fantastic. But, like,

01:41:14.560 really, like, I think the, the, the reason to do it is because you never fucking know when 0.83

01:41:20.720 it's going to happen. Yeah. Where someone in their very last fucking leg of their life 0.77

01:41:26.740 comes up to you and needs some love. And that's a good reason to cultivate love. Yeah. Yeah. 0.97

01:41:32.720 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because then you can be a crutch. It's like you don't, yeah, you

01:41:37.180 form yourself up enough, and then you can hold somebody else up, you know. That's it. And

01:41:41.980 if we all hold each other up, man, holy shit, man, it's going to be a human pyramid. And 1.00

01:41:46.740 yeah, it's a fucking human pyramid. And that's, if you're about to get attacked by a bear with 1.00

01:41:51.960 your friends, form a human pyramid. You've got your ball, you've got your chain. Um, yeah. 0.75

01:42:00.440 Fuck you, Alexa! You're a bitch! Do you ever do this on your podcast? Because if people are 1.00

01:42:05.940 listening, you can activate, you know, like, Alexa, order 200 rolls of toilet paper. Alexa,

01:42:13.060 order 70 butt plugs. Alexa, order five Tide Pods. I don't know. What's something, like,

01:42:21.100 you have to be kind of specific or it'll, like, ask them what they want. Alexa, play Crash 0.99

01:42:26.720 Into Me by Dave Matthews Band. Is it Crash Into Me or you? Fuck, I don't know. Ladies and gentlemen,

01:42:33.920 uh... Alexa, text my wife that she's a cunt. And text me pictures of some cunt. Yeah. Alexa, 1.00

01:42:42.400 text me cunt pictures. Alexa, airdrop a picture of my dick into the, uh, crowd here at Bonnaroo. 1.00

01:42:50.280 Dude, that's the new fucking, uh, that's the new, um, Hiroshima is whenever you just turn 1.00

01:42:56.060 on your airdrop and just drop a picture of your dick into a huge crowd. Because anybody 1.00

01:42:59.760 that has their phone open goes to them. Stop! You can do that!

01:43:04.340 Yep. And you can also blow a dog whistle that only dogs can hear on the radio. And we're going

01:43:08.020 to do that next time. Um, Duncan Trussell, thank you so much, man. Thanks for having

01:43:12.400 me, Theo. This was our first conversation ever. Yeah, what a great one, man. Thank you

01:43:16.300 so much. It really was, dude. I appreciate you being here. Thank you, brother. Yep.

01:43:19.160 That's good, dear. Thank you, everyone. Thank you, Keith.

01:43:41.580 Thank you, Parker.

01:43:43.460 But it's going to take a little time for me to set that parking brake and let myself unwind.

01:43:57.580 Shine that light on me.

01:44:02.640 I'll sit and tell you my stories.

01:44:08.260 Shine on me.

01:44:11.260 And I will find a song.

01:44:15.800 I will sing it just for you.

01:44:23.000 And now I've been moving way too fast on a runaway train with a heavy load of power.

01:44:31.160 Ladies and gentlemen, I'm Jonathan Kite and welcome to Kite Club, a podcast where I'll be sharing thoughts on things like current events, stand-up stories, and seven ways to play.

01:44:41.240 And as always, I'll be joined by the voices in my head.

01:44:50.800 You have three new voice messages.

01:44:53.680 A lot of people are talking about Kite Club.

01:44:56.960 I've been talking about Kite Club for so long.

01:44:59.640 Longer than anybody else.

01:45:01.320 So great.

01:45:02.660 Hi.

01:45:03.240 Sweetie.

01:45:04.200 Here's a deal. 1.00

01:45:05.560 Anyone who doesn't listen to Kite Club is a dodgy bloody wanker. 1.00

01:45:09.560 Jermaine. 0.99

01:45:10.140 I'll take a quarter pounder with cheese and a McFlurry.

01:45:14.600 Sorry, sir, but our ice cream machine is broken.

01:45:16.700 Oh, no.

01:45:18.980 I think Tom Hanks just butt dialed me.

01:45:21.420 Anyway, first rule of Kite Club is tell everyone about Kite Club.

01:45:25.620 Second rule of Kite Club is tell everyone about Kite Club.

01:45:29.820 Third rule.

01:45:30.780 Like and subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts or watch us on YouTube, yeah?

01:45:35.180 And yes, don't worry, my Brad Pitt impression will get better.
