A bombshell New York Times piece alleging that Andrew Cuomo and his aides spent months hiding the true death toll from COVID-19 in nursing homes. You know, the scandal that many conservatives like myself have been talking about for months. Apparently, aides to the New York Governor, Andrew M. Cuomo, repeatedly overruled state health officials over a span of at least five months, according to interviews and newly unearthed documents. The actions coincided with a period in which Mr. Cuomo was pitching and writing a book about the pandemic and leadership. This is the one he was writing because he knew everything. He was made into a deity by the press. Turns out it was all a cover-up. And yet, between that and 9 credible accusations of sexual harassment, he s just fine. When s he going to face some accountability from the media? And when will the other investigations into him come to a head? I don t know, but maybe it s time to pay the piper. But it'd be nice to see those who pretend to be objective and pretend to do their jobs actually do their job. I guess we'll just have to wait and see where the investigation goes from here. -R.I.P.S. 00:00:00.000Well, guys, today we're going to talk Andrew Cuomo and this bombshell New York Times piece that came out on Wednesday, alleging that Cuomo and his aides spent months hiding the true death toll from COVID-19 in nursing homes.
00:00:17.000You know, the scandal that many conservatives like myself have been talking about for months.
00:00:23.000Apparently, aides to the New York governor, Andrew M. Cuomo, repeatedly prevented state health officials This is directly from the New York Times.
00:00:36.000Again, not something that could be considered a moderate or conservative publication, but sort of the epitome of left-wing journalism.
00:00:45.000So this is directly from the New York Times.
00:00:46.000I'm reading from the piece right now, April 28th, 2021.
00:00:50.000The effort by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's office to obscure the pandemic death toll in New York nursing homes was far greater than previously known, with AIDS repeatedly overruling state health officials over a span of at least five months, according to interviews and newly unearthed documents.
00:01:06.000Mr. Cuomo's most senior aides engaged in sustained efforts to prevent the state's own health officials, including the commissioner, Howard Zucker, from releasing the true death toll to the public or sharing it with state lawmakers, these interviews and documents showed.
00:01:21.000A scientific paper which incorporated data was never published.
00:01:26.000An audit of the numbers by a top Cuomo aide was finished months before it became publicly known.
00:01:32.000Two letters drafted by the Health Department and meant for state legislators were never sent.
00:01:38.000The actions coincided with a period in which Mr.
00:01:42.000Cuomo was pitching and writing a book on the pandemic and leadership.
00:01:48.000This is the one he was writing because he knew everything.
00:01:50.000He was made into a deity by the press.
00:01:58.000The number of nursing home residents, we're back to the New York Times article, who died in the pandemic, has been a particularly sensitive question for the Cuomo administration.
00:02:07.000As the first wave hit New York in March of 2020, the administration put in place a policy to prevent nursing homes from turning away patients discharged from hospitals after treatment for COVID-19.
00:02:17.000Some critics blamed the approach for the large number of resident deaths.
00:02:21.000A death toll the administration then put at around 6,000.
00:02:25.000But by the time the policy was rescinded, less than two months later, it became clear that not all the deaths were being included in the tally.
00:02:33.000Those who died after treatment in the hospitals were not counted as nursing home deaths.
00:02:38.000Lawmakers and others began asking for a complete count of all resident deaths, but the governor's aides said parsing the numbers was difficult because of fear of double counting, among other possible errors.
00:03:35.000As long as you're going after Donald Trump.
00:03:36.000I actually got to give the New York Times credit for finally doing something and actually reporting on something that so many people like Janice Dean, whose parents were killed because of these decisions, Seemingly, have been rallying about for months.
