00:01:17.800Tell us how you came up with this idea or how did this idea start?
00:01:20.540It happened when I was in Grand Falls, Windsor, which is the central part of our province.
00:01:25.180And I was a news reporter, but I also did a little chat every morning live about what's going on around the province, around our town, that kind of thing.
00:01:37.420So there's only a half million people in Newfoundland and Labrador.
00:01:41.100And I always said to myself, well, if there's something negative that happens, you're going to hear it and they'll probably get three or four minutes to play in the media.
00:01:49.240And I was saying to myself, well, if somebody starts business with 10 or 15 jobs, they might get 20 seconds, if at all.
00:01:58.420So I said, well, people want to hear about the good news.
00:02:02.500The negative news or news that will happen anyway is going to be there, and people are going to hear it.
00:02:09.360But what I was thinking was that with the good news aspect, people would probably never hear about some of the good things.
00:02:17.440somebody getting recognition for some award or some business starting up and creating jobs in
00:02:24.460the local area to you know to employ people so that's where it all started and i had a great
00:02:29.520response to it from day one yeah yeah i can see why you know that's my part of why we started
00:02:34.520the podcasting quite frankly is number one i never thought we got enough detailed coverage of events
00:02:42.140number two i didn't think we highlighted the good things happening enough and so
00:02:45.840So part of what we do is not only, you know, we have nine pillars, economy, politics, but we also have happiness, right?
00:11:00.440So, Terry, you know, Hall of Fame inductions.
00:11:04.580you had quite a few baseball here you've had been the hockey hall of fame the baseball hall of fame
00:11:10.180uh you had the king charles the third coronation medal so you know just some great a great career
00:11:16.900right yeah i had a lot of fun i was fortunate a good timing and all that kind of stuff but it was
00:11:22.100great and you know it started off i always loved baseball still followed the blue jays all the time
00:11:27.380What about the Red Sox? I'm a big Red Sox fan as well. They're on my team here, but they've got to call them the Canadian hoopla the last number of years when they were doing okay. And last year, of course, I went to the World Series.
00:11:41.380Oh, did you? Saw the last two games. Oh, that was great. But I love baseball. I served on the provincial baseball executive here for a lot of years. And in my hometown of Grand Falls, Windsor, I was on the executive there for 20 plus years.
00:14:34.800You know, hockey is always, you know, the hockey ownership sometimes is, I always call it, it's kind of a free-for-all.
00:14:41.040You know, and whether it's in the NHL or whether it's in junior hockey, you get some real characters to actually end up owning some of the teams, right?
00:17:32.400That's something that's got to be dealt with because there's so many thousands of people wanting to come here this year to see our province, but they can't get back and forth.
00:17:46.420We called and called and tried to find a booking.
00:17:48.860We couldn't get over on the boat to get our car over.
00:17:51.460So, we ended up flying into here, and then we fly back to Halifax to pick up our car because we left our car in Halifax our last trip after we actually.
00:18:02.400came so yeah and a good sign of things happening in province and right here in
00:18:06.660St. John's this hotel the Jag so my John Steele yeah one of the most prominent
00:18:12.420business people in Atlantic Canada and still I've been very successful in the
00:18:16.200whole Steele family and been very successful and you know there's not too
00:18:20.640many hotels anywhere in Canada or in many other parts of the world you can pair
00:18:25.980with this you know it's really something so yeah so he is a real credit to all the
00:18:30.180A lot of the growth taking place in Newfoundland and Labrador.
00:18:33.040You know, we came in last night, so we arrived,
00:18:35.400and there was a band playing on the stage in the bar as we walked in.
00:18:39.080I said to Sean, my son, I said, you know, wow.
00:18:46.460For people who like the music scene in Canada,
00:18:49.040you've got to come here because every night in one of the bars downtown,
00:18:52.460you know, anywhere downtown towards the water,
00:18:56.400you're going to find an artist playing somewhere or something, right?
00:18:59.100And you just had four major concerts here with the Dixie Chicks and three other major performers did four different nights and they were sold out every night.
00:19:11.360Probably close to 80,000 people in the four nights went to the concert.
