True Patriot Love - Local Council Impact： Why Your Vote Matters #shorts

00:00:00.000 By the way, these are good jobs.

00:00:02.860 If you've ever considered being a member of your local council,

00:00:07.220 they can be good jobs.

00:00:08.420 They often are, depending on what community you're in,

00:00:11.120 they can be a full-time position.

00:00:12.520 They come with pension benefits.

00:00:14.860 And it's a great way to even build your profile

00:00:17.520 in the community as somebody who cares.

00:00:20.300 So to me, it's a no-brainer to run,

00:00:23.740 but to get enough people to get out there and vote you in

00:00:26.460 becomes a challenge.

00:00:27.660 Yeah, it does.

00:00:28.440 and once you get in quite frank so this is where people kind of miss it a little bit i think

00:00:32.580 they think that it doesn't have an impact but you look at let's let's i'm going to use toronto as an

00:00:36.940 example again years ago there was a toronto vote on whether to replace the gardner expressway or

00:00:42.440 to fix it oh right and it was a 24 21 vote so 24 to fix it so again that has major impact so if

00:00:51.680 you're living in the downtown core and all of a sudden you lose the gardner expressway because

00:00:55.200 they're going to knock it down you may not be able to travel outside the core if you have a business

00:00:59.800 in the downtown core so those are like all the things you know a full climate mitigation funding

00:01:05.180 uh i think it passed by two votes like there's there's lots of things that happen at councils

00:01:12.160 that you're going to be impacted by so if you don't have a council that you can trust and a

00:01:16.800 mayor that has your interests at heart you do definitely need to be active
