00:00:00.000 The fact that he doesn't care and he has this really tight small group of people who are at his beck and call
00:00:07.080 and the challenge for Mark Carney or any world leader is to sort of break into that tight bubble around Trump
00:00:15.360 to actually have some sort of reasonable conversation.
00:00:22.980 On this Tuesday morning, U.S. President Donald Trump spoke at the U.N. General Assembly
00:00:28.380 and it was a speech and a performance that will be talked about for years to come not just in
00:00:33.380 america but around the world to talk more about it as always mike wixon and our man paul micucci
00:00:38.600 gentlemen how are you good thanks hey paul thanks for coming in thank you guys well this was uh yeah
00:00:44.940 jim this was uh one to be remembered i got a call from paul this morning he said you're gonna watch
00:00:49.040 this might be one for the history books and it was but for all the wrong reasons i think it was
00:00:56.520 a laundry list of declarations and pronouncements that are patently false, including Donald Trump
00:01:04.760 saying under his administration, they have completely defeated global inflation, grocery
00:01:10.620 prices are down, according to him, and mortgages rates have dropped. When it's the complete opposite,
00:01:16.800 the rate of inflation has cooled relative to previous peaks. However, the oil flow from the
00:01:22.640 state of Hormuz has been basically shut down consumer prices and energy costs have shot up
00:01:27.860 and mortgage rates remain significantly higher than they did pre-2022 yeah that one I think
00:01:34.680 that one actually got me to chuckle out loud I did one of these oh no imagine the person that
00:01:40.220 they're pumping like Michigan or Pennsylvania paying double the cost to fill their pickup truck
00:01:44.820 yeah that one was uh I found that one shocking another one that he he came up with which was
00:01:52.080 uh i thought really disturbing um he talked about the last 16 months zero illegal aliens have been
00:01:59.800 admitted to the united states and that's done by sophisticated people and the truth is and i kind
00:02:05.400 of thought this right away paul i don't know what you thought but my immediate thought was
00:02:08.500 wait a minute this is he's using a uh turn of phrase that avoids the real truth and sure enough
00:02:15.760 the claim of zero admissions is totally false u.s customs and border protection data confirms
00:02:21.280 that illegal crossings, while fluctuating,
00:02:24.480 it's changed over the last number of months,
00:02:27.000 are still occurring.
00:02:28.520 And for context, there were roughly 8,900 attempted crossings
00:02:32.680 detected in August alone.
00:02:35.920 There's more, Paul.
00:02:37.580 I have single-handedly ended seven major world wars.
00:02:42.700 That's his words.
00:02:43.780 In my first few months in office,
00:02:45.920 not just false but highly misleading
00:02:48.240 as there are border skirmishes, full-scale wars
00:02:51.920 taking place around the world, including Iran,
00:02:54.700 which he started, and Ukraine and Russia.
00:02:56.820 And our media in Azerbaijan right now, they're heating up.
00:03:00.120 I mean, it's not...
00:03:00.920 Which has been a hotspot for decades.
00:03:02.900 Yeah.
00:03:03.600 Okay, so those were some of the factually incorrect
00:03:07.420 and just a smattering.
00:03:08.960 A very quick favor before we continue.
00:03:11.240 A large percentage of you who watch or listen to TPL Media

00:03:37.820 So thank you.
00:03:38.880 Now back to the show.
00:03:40.680 But what was your thinking overall, Paul?
00:03:42.860 What was your impression?
00:03:44.880 Well, it was better than last year. So, you know, given that, remember when the elevator, when the escalator broke and the telephone broke, he went on a rant for an hour and a half. So way better from that perspective. Didn't name people. So I thought that was probably a good start. He didn't come out and start rambling about people and people he didn't like and things he didn't like.
00:04:10.640 So I thought he followed the speech that he had. He did, you know, come out and say that, quite frankly, he stopped Europe from being annihilated by Iran. 0.73
00:04:23.620 But, you know, I think I think the thing that caught me the most out of all the bravado really was his statement that for the next two and a half years, regardless of whether the midterms go the wrong way, he still is there. 0.73
00:04:38.000 And, you know, and he's still going to, you know, take the same track objectives and that the veto power of the president, you know, will overrule.
00:04:51.900 And I thought that was an interesting statement.
00:04:55.120 He just came right out and said it for all of you who are waiting for the outcome of the midterms.
00:05:00.260 I can tell you that's really not going to change the outcome here.
00:05:04.240 No, he said, you know, the Republicans will remain in power.
00:05:07.280 he's won by a landslide he has no fear in his heart he'll continue to run the country but you
00:05:12.380 know more than anything that statement felt to me like no matter what happens i'm going to be
00:05:17.200 running the country it's going to be a puppet uh leader in place it'll be a shadow government
00:05:23.740 under my control still a very brave and arrogant statement and paul you you raised i think the
00:05:30.200 point of the whole speech is despite the fact that the u.s fed just raised interest rates
00:05:35.880 gas prices continue to be through the roof in america people are struggling to live month to
00:05:42.200 month he's like i don't care i'm running the show for two and a half years and you can't stop me
00:05:47.560 well it's an interesting statement and he didn't go any further than that but
00:05:52.620 if you think about it you know you have a bunch of things that have to happen you have debt ceilings
00:05:57.580 you have budgets you have bills you have a lot of things that the president weighs in on and
00:06:02.680 and what the statement is, hey, regardless if I get wiped out in the midterms, nothing's getting
00:06:08.960 through. So if I get wiped out in the midterms, the two and a half years are going to be a
00:06:13.800 stalemate. And therefore, I will grind things to a halt until I get my way because of my veto power.
00:06:19.740 It's a very interesting, you know, and a lot of I think we're learning this as we go along
00:06:24.920 as Canadians. And I think even Americans are learning this. A lot of the governmental systems
00:06:31.040 in the United States are done best based on precedent.
00:06:35.580 So, you know, you look at what the past presidents did,
00:06:38.760 what the past legislation was,
00:06:41.520 and then that kind of sets the bar for what happens next.
00:06:45.120 And so the challenge, you know,
00:06:46.640 he's kind of outlining in his speech,
00:06:48.800 hey, you know, these are the things
00:06:50.940 that have happened in the past.
00:06:52.480 I'm going to follow some of them,
00:06:53.940 but I'm going to be the trendsetter and others
00:06:56.140 springboarding off what other presidents have done.
00:06:59.440 So, you know, it is really a warning to the world that he's not going anywhere and that two and a half years are going to be pretty contentious.
00:07:08.320 And I think as Canadians, we've got to kind of take that to heart and say, hey, you know, if that nation sort of stalls and grinds to a halt based on their political turmoil, what are we going to do to stay out of that?
00:07:22.240 Great point. And Paul raises a good issue and something we've all talked about here with the effect on Canadians, because the fact that he doesn't care and he has this really tight, small group of people who are at his beck and call.
00:07:38.340 And the challenge for Mark Carney or any world leader is to sort of break into that tight bubble around Trump to actually have some sort of reasonable conversation.
00:07:49.320 That's very difficult, Mike.
00:07:50.900 I think once you get in that bubble, though,
00:07:52.300 apparently it's pretty easy to turn him into a one-statement monster.
00:07:57.320 I mean, all of a sudden he's happy with Denmark and Greenland today. 0.96
00:08:00.620 Yeah, I mean, that was a ridiculous, that felt almost too cheesy for Trump.
00:08:08.060 You know, we've got a new relationship with Greenland. 0.87
00:08:10.480 We're going to be building major bases.
00:08:12.380 He went going on and on about how great Denmark is.
00:08:14.820 And the wonderful people of Denmark and, you know, what a beautiful country.
00:08:18.040 You know, it's just sickening how syrupy he made that one.
00:08:23.040 But then you just got to figure the people of Denmark today watching that are going, what deal have we done?
00:08:28.800 It sounds like they're invading. They're not allowed to make any deals that aren't first vetted by the U.S.
00:08:34.660 They've literally handed the country the way he described it over to the U.S.
00:08:41.180 Yeah. Well, and that was, you know, we talked about it on another show, Mike.
00:08:45.040 So as soon as our prime minister went to the EU, he quickly went to Greenland, cut the deal with Denmark.
00:08:51.580 So I guess they were anticipating our move to the EU.
00:08:55.200 Then they went to Greenland, cuts off the Arctic and we're into another conversation.
00:09:00.360 So we are really in this global chess game right now that seems to be played around the world with a president that, quite frankly, understands that, you know, I got to give you an example.
00:09:11.220 When the war starts, he doesn't go to Congress. So and in the past, you know, presidents should go to Congress to ask for approval to actually commence a conflict with another country.
00:09:27.940 That that is kind of the rule of law in the United States. But the president has been they haven't. They've gone after the fact and they've kind of give briefings to Congress.
00:09:37.280 So there's, you know, there's rumblings all the time. But, you know, this is what we're seeing. We're seeing, you know, this president sort of taking what past presidents have done and kind of hyper hyper actions that go above and beyond what past presidents have done it.
00:09:56.200 And and he's going to keep doing that for the next two and a half years.
00:10:00.880 He's OK. You know, you look at you look at going in.
00:10:04.120 I don't know if you saw Katie Collins. Yes.
00:10:07.300 You know, they were they were. Oh, my goodness.
00:10:10.180 They were having a debate. They were cajoling each other, poking each other.
00:10:14.980 He was telling her she shouldn't be there.
00:10:16.840 She's telling him that, quite frankly, she got invited by the U.N.
00:10:21.080 what's given press pass uh uh and that's that's happening real time uh in front of the un like
00:10:28.940 that that really is going on and i'm like oh wow that's uh that's an interesting turn of events
00:10:34.500 we watched that and both jim and i were stunned we're like i don't know if this is the moment
00:10:41.300 you do that just let it go but paul you know uh something mike alluded to uh with the relationship
00:10:46.740 with Denmark and Greenland would give to me Mark Carney
00:10:50.440 and other leaders great pause.
00:10:52.380 Because as you said, Mike, basically this new deal,
00:10:55.780 everything has to go through the USA and Trump.
00:10:59.200 So Carney's like, wait a sec, look what's happened to Denmark
00:11:02.380 and this Greenland deal.
00:11:03.760 We as Canadians don't want any part of that 0.71
00:11:05.820 because they'll have say over everything.
00:11:07.980 Yeah, they'll make the same deal with us.
00:11:10.500 That was one of the flares that I saw him.
00:11:13.320 He said a few scary things, actually, guys.
00:11:16.140 Let me share one with you.
00:11:18.100 If our national interests are threatened,
00:11:22.160 we will not hesitate to use unmatched sovereign military force
00:11:25.500 outside of international law,
00:11:27.520 and no global body will ever stand in our way.
00:11:31.140 It's a frightening statement to make at the UN.
00:11:34.720 So you know who else made a statement similar to that?
00:11:37.140 In the late 1930s, some guy named Hitler.
00:11:39.280 Yeah. 0.74
00:11:39.700 When he decided to take over Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Poland
00:11:43.820 and basically said, no one can stop me.
00:11:45.520 Yeah.
00:11:46.140 I mean, that's that's the kind of things that they said, you know, and he left a few things on the table.
00:11:53.020 I noticed he didn't make mention of Asia at all. He didn't make mention of Russia at all.
00:11:59.600 He did make mention. He did contradict himself by saying that they were close to getting a deal done between the Ukraine and Russia.
00:12:08.920 However, earlier in his speech, he said that it was a hoax.
00:12:11.920 This whole Ukraine thing was a hoax and that it was a woke experience brought on by bureaucratic globalist nations.
00:12:21.660 Well, there's that.
00:12:23.100 And then basically he insulted the entire administration of Mexico and the country of Mexico in his speech with regards to cartels.
00:12:31.940 And something, Paul, you had talked about last week with Mike about their negotiations as well.
00:12:37.900 And then so they're in negotiations with the USA in Mexico and he's insulting the country.
00:12:41.880 And the Mexican media are losing their minds over his comments.
00:12:45.060 In fact, you know what we're finding, Paul?
00:12:46.880 I don't know if you've had a chance to look, but a lot of Trump's very own media supporters have turned on this one.
00:12:53.740 Yeah.
00:12:54.240 And it's to interest rates, the cost of living, gas.
00:12:58.080 And the big thing is the ongoing war in Iran.
00:13:00.720 And he they were they were a lot of them said, I voted for him because he said no wars and we're still there.
00:13:07.380 And now we're seeing, you know, the sons and daughters of these American families getting hurt and killed over there.
00:13:13.620 Here's another one. Maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world. 0.90
00:13:19.600 Or do I annihilate the deal, annihilate the Islamic Republic, never giving them a chance, 1.00
00:13:26.220 drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness or generations. 1.00
00:13:32.760 I mean, he talks about annihilating and eradicating an entire people. 0.98
00:13:36.960 Yeah. You know, I want to back up for a minute because, you know, the Mexico, the Mexico agreement or the Mexico Kuzma agreement. 0.85
00:13:45.480 It's interesting because it seemed like it was on track to be completed.
00:13:49.860 Yes. Very much, you know, a tell to what happened with the Canadian side.
00:13:56.220 It was on track. And then all of a sudden, a bunch of stuff got thrown onto the table.
00:14:00.340 I noticed this week that the Mexican delegation has been making the rounds on U.S. TV, on CNN and other stations, kind of telling their side of the story.
00:14:12.200 And, you know, basically, I think they've done a decent job of getting everyone conditioned that that negotiation isn't going to be completed this month.
00:14:27.740 It probably now reset another target date and the new target date looks to be just before Christmas.
00:14:34.580 So they've done it quietly.
00:14:36.840 It's been kind of a soft sounding.
00:14:38.440 So I think they realized they weren't as far ahead as they thought this last week when they got the conditions on the table, just like we did.
00:14:45.840 We walked away from the table.
00:14:47.480 But quite frankly, it looks like the Mexican government has, you know, really taken a different track than we did.
00:14:56.960 They've now gone and tried to get people, basically put the notice to people that the date for the timeline is going to be extended.

00:15:18.660 and lock in your membership trust me you don't want to miss what happens behind the paywall
00:15:23.060 all right back to the show so it's interesting that you say that yeah we did not do that and i
00:15:28.900 think that probably canada had the indication several times the deal was not going to close
00:15:35.880 is we kept making it sound like we were close to the end, close to the end.
00:15:40.520 But, I mean, experience, I think, is part of the game here.
00:15:45.760 When you've seen it happen with Canada, you want to get ahead of it a little bit, I think.
00:15:50.340 You know, Paul, I think you made a great reference to last year's speech
00:15:54.960 and the rambling dissertation about the escalator.
00:15:58.820 A lot of times, a lot of these crazy Trump statements do become white noise.
00:16:02.820 but as we sift the wheat through the trap the chaff and really get to the you know inner workings of
00:16:08.820 it it does raise a lot of pause for concern as not just canadians but countries around the world
00:16:14.900 this it i mean that's one thing carney mentioned it is a new world order there's no such thing as
00:16:20.260 diplomacy from the u.s administration now when they're dealing with countries around the world
00:16:26.980 no no you know well you saw it and you know mike i think and jim you read out some of the
00:16:32.340 statements, they're, they're very, uh, you know, I always, and a lot of times I, I'm the one who
00:16:38.960 comes out and says, you know, American, uh, negotiations are harsher than ours. So, so I'm
00:16:45.340 always, you know, letting everyone know that when you do business in the U S it is done differently. 0.97
00:16:50.980 And, you know, that's culturally, it's a little more crass. It's, it's sometimes, you know, a
00:16:56.660 little vulgar. Um, so you gotta get used to it when you're doing business there. Um, this is a
00:17:01.620 little over the top, right? Some of these statements, as you were listening to it,
00:17:04.520 you're like, wow, that's a tough statement. And I know he's trying to send a message to that
00:17:08.000 country. Is the UN the right place to do it? My answer to that is no, right? I think you have to
00:17:14.880 be diplomatic in that case. There's times you need to come out and, you know, threaten and warn,
00:17:21.300 but that was probably the wrong form to do that. And, you know, was it meant to send messages to
00:17:28.160 more than Iran. I think it was. I think it almost was a precursor to some of the, as you've mentioned,
00:17:35.640 Mike, to the 24th meetings that are coming up with China in the United States. I think it was
00:17:41.760 really to say, hey, you know, I'm not just talking to Iran. I'm talking to, you know, Chinese. I'm
00:17:47.380 talking to a bunch of other people about the way I want to see this go down. But that's a shame,
00:17:52.780 Because I think when all that diplomacy goes out the window, it really is hard to get something done because everyone's back goes against the wall, up against the wall.
00:18:03.440 And, you know, for all of us, we need the U.S. to be good trading partners to make all of our economies work.
00:18:12.460 Otherwise, you know, we're in for a rough winter.
00:18:16.420 At what point are you a leader of a major country, the biggest country on earth?
00:18:22.780 and you have to enter a room where you can't ever enter a room where there's not conflict for you
00:18:30.060 exactly like there has to be yeah there has to that has to be examined you know there isn't a
00:18:35.740 single room paul this guy can enter where he's got the love of the room and he doesn't care and in
00:18:41.340 fact it almost fears feels to me like he he likes it he prefers to be in an adversary position rather
00:18:49.820 than um an alliance position well you know he's taken a he's taken a very controversial track
00:18:58.300 right he's he said nationalism over globalism that changes the world supply change it changes
00:19:05.500 trade it changes the world right the this this movement is actually and people keep thinking
00:19:12.420 that that's going to change and i you know he's you know by saying that he's not going away for
00:19:17.220 two and a half years he's not going to change his track with where he's going uh you know the world
00:19:23.120 will be uh reoriented and changed by the time he leaves and he's he's you know he's telling he one
00:19:30.740 thing about uh and i always say this on all the shows to both of you you don't have to read between
00:19:36.640 the lines they just tell you go on the white house website you actually listen to the speeches
00:19:42.340 they just tell you the way it is thanks paul great point and that is the crux of it mike that
00:19:48.020 trillion dollar war in iran that still is not over ultimately will be his downfall and his
00:19:53.800 the real dark spot in his legacy mike and it is affecting millions of americans i'm not sure how
00:19:59.520 they're going to get through it you know it's interesting as well he couldn't wait to point
00:20:03.020 out that uh no he he hasn't blown through all their munitions and they're building all of these
00:20:08.040 fantastic deals with weapons manufacturers that are building plants and some of those plants are
00:20:12.620 he's obviously scrambling to cover the fact that he really did blow the bank on munitions trying
00:20:20.060 to fight wars that had nothing to do with them that are now blowing back in his face uh the other
00:20:25.260 thing that i thought and i found this humorous actually because at this point i have to tell you
00:20:30.880 i i don't think that he's a a leader anymore i think not in the sense of the word that we're
00:20:38.960 used to no no not not in that sense he's really leading his own march uh like paul said if you
00:20:45.360 want to know what he's going to do just take a look at his defense strategy it's right on the
00:20:48.520 white house web page but the one thing that i did think was a little bit humorous was he gave google
00:20:53.580 reviews for himself from leaders around the world uh all the different reviews about how he changed
00:20:59.460 the world and i thought to myself what is he doing right now he's reading reviews like he's
00:21:04.900 he's just put a movie out or something like that he googled the prime minister of pakistan and
00:21:09.700 other leaders in different countries and started doing it and the crazy thing is some really in
00:21:15.540 the know uh reporters on the white house and capitol hill are saying that he's made more money
00:21:22.580 as president than any other president in history well the one truth that i can say is actually
00:21:29.320 real is that uh the u.s stock market has hit multiple all-time record highs uh it's done it
00:21:36.820 several times in the last 12 months and i would imagine to his benefit and the benefit of his
00:21:42.180 buddies uh look jim thanks for talking about this we're going to put this out as soon as we can to
00:21:46.460 react to it uh and we hope you react to it as well with your comments there you go jimmy
00:21:52.580 You
