00:00:00.000 Okay, guys, it has been a while since we talked about Mark Carney and the Liberal Party.
00:00:03.840 It's been since the election, so we've decided to revisit that subject in the very heart of Liberal territory at the CNE in Toronto.
00:00:11.380 That's what we're talking about. Let's go.
00:00:14.900 What do you think of Mark Carney right now? Is he doing a good job?
00:00:18.300 No.
00:00:19.160 I'm not upset with his work.
00:00:20.940 That's it. I think he's doing a good job.
00:00:23.180 I think he is. I think he's standing up to be what Canada needs right now.
00:00:27.760 Excellent.
00:00:28.160 Yeah, I think he's doing excellent, especially against Trump.
00:00:31.200 He's taken some good steps, I would say, perhaps in the right direction, but only time will tell with that.
00:00:37.360 So far, it looks like he's headed in the right direction.
00:00:40.280 He needs to do better, like, with taxes and stuff.
00:00:43.620 Like, I think he needs to, like, lower the taxes.
00:00:45.860 If we're just taking a look around the country, I wouldn't say he's doing a good job.
00:00:50.460 Yeah, do you think there's been a lot of change between, like, Carney and Trudeau?
00:00:54.460 Yes and no.
00:00:55.700 Not yet.
00:00:56.920 Yes.
00:00:57.320 Yeah, I think so. I think he's super intelligent where the finances comes. We'll see what else happens.
00:01:06.260 There's been some change. I don't know if I can say there's been a lot of change. I think it'll come with over time.
00:01:12.480 I don't think it's changed too much. I haven't really seen much of a difference.
00:01:17.720 Do you see him following through with his campaign promises, though, that he made on the campaign trail?
00:01:22.920 As far as I understand, I don't think so.
00:01:25.380 I think he really preached that we were going to stand up to America
00:01:28.580 and that we were going to fight them for the whole terrorists and everything.
00:01:32.900 And it seems like we're just back to being subordinate to America.
00:01:37.440 I hope so. Still early. 0.96
00:01:40.200 He's had a lot on his plate since he became prime minister,
00:01:43.140 so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
00:01:45.660 Do you see him standing up to Trump?
00:01:46.920 yes and no i think he's you know a little soft with them but then again i think other people
00:01:57.520 have been a little soft when they made promises for their elections um so far he seems to be
00:02:02.660 doing okay i haven't been following too closely to you know keep track of how well he's been
00:02:07.880 following the promises our debt is slated to increase more than it did under trudeau why do
00:02:12.440 you think he's spending so much? That's a good question I you know I don't know he's it's a
00:02:18.460 little mixed there you know I like some of what he's doing but you know I really like some of
00:02:22.740 what Trudeau did too so. Well to be quite honest it doesn't scare me right now because of his
00:02:27.360 background with finances and stuff so I think right now he's got to put it out in order to
00:02:33.280 get what he's got to get in place. Sometimes you just have to spend in order to keep up with what
00:02:40.220 we need and what we require in terms of social requirements we don't even know
00:02:45.500 where this money is going because he hasn't given us a budget so that's
00:02:50.960 probably what we need to see the fact that there hasn't he hasn't been
00:02:54.980 accountable to like having a budget or anything that's obviously causing for
00:02:58.880 concerns of where's all this money going and can I ask where do you get your news
00:03:03.200 media from? ABC, CP24 and 98.1, yeah. Television, CP24, global news. Can I ask where you get your
00:03:15.440 news media from? I just make it up. I'm going to say online, a lot of would be online. Probably
00:03:20.760 global. There's global, national post, so sometimes I'll see something on TikTok. It'll kind of
00:03:28.880 encourage me to want to go look more into it and so then I kind of do my own research separately
00:03:32.900 outside of that honestly this might be a bit biased but my my family yeah but um but like i
00:03:38.980 like to read on the internet obviously the mainstream uh sources um but then i also like
00:03:45.060 deep dive into things because um i like to question the sources that they're coming from
00:03:49.620 um of course like you know cp24 and all these other mainstream media outlets they're very
00:03:55.780 politically driven in some cases and so i've seen that firsthand depending on where what the the
00:04:01.460 news can be. I've taught marketing before and so this is what I've always told my
00:04:06.060 students is always question like the source and where it's coming from so
00:04:09.840 that's kind of what I try to do too. One of the promises that Carney actually
00:04:13.820 made on the campaign trail was to increase funding to the CBC by 150
00:04:17.920 million dollars so the CBC actually gets like almost half a billion dollars from
00:04:22.940 the government every year or something like that it's like 400 million it's
00:04:25.880 something really high. Can we can we really trust them to be objective?
00:04:30.260 No, of course not. Of course not. I mean, if the media houses are being funded by the government with that kind of huge sum, I mean, their loyalty will be to the government. Yes? I think so.
00:04:44.940 So one thing that I'm asking people to do is consider other sources of news, like independent media.
00:04:51.100 I mean, we trusted the liberals for the last how many years under Justin Trudeau's policies and whatnot,
00:04:57.060 and the country's kind of gone, so there's not much I can say.
00:05:01.760 I would have liked to see a change in the parties, conservative, pure,
00:05:06.120 see what his policies are, see what he's about, and yeah.
00:05:08.800 So there's no work for your children?
00:05:11.260 No.
00:05:11.760 My boy couldn't get the back job.
00:05:15.020 Times are hard.
00:05:15.940 Everyone I know does not have enough money for groceries or rent, everyone is struggling.
00:05:23.500 It seems like, or a lot of people I know are going to university and the public funding
00:05:29.320 for them, it won't even loan them their whole tuition, they have to pay out of pocket, they're
00:05:35.260 just putting $4,000 on a credit card, you know, and I think Canadians are really struggling.
