It's been a while since we've talked about the Liberal Party, but we decided to revisit it in the heart of Liberal territory at the CNE in Toronto. In this episode, we talk about the current state of the government, what's going on with the CBC, and what we should be looking out for in the coming years.
00:01:46.920yes and no i think he's you know a little soft with them but then again i think other people
00:01:57.520have been a little soft when they made promises for their elections um so far he seems to be
00:02:02.660doing okay i haven't been following too closely to you know keep track of how well he's been
00:02:07.880following the promises our debt is slated to increase more than it did under trudeau why do
00:02:12.440you think he's spending so much? That's a good question I you know I don't know he's it's a
00:02:18.460little mixed there you know I like some of what he's doing but you know I really like some of
00:02:22.740what Trudeau did too so. Well to be quite honest it doesn't scare me right now because of his
00:02:27.360background with finances and stuff so I think right now he's got to put it out in order to
00:02:33.280get what he's got to get in place. Sometimes you just have to spend in order to keep up with what
00:02:40.220we need and what we require in terms of social requirements we don't even know
00:02:45.500where this money is going because he hasn't given us a budget so that's
00:02:50.960probably what we need to see the fact that there hasn't he hasn't been
00:02:54.980accountable to like having a budget or anything that's obviously causing for
00:02:58.880concerns of where's all this money going and can I ask where do you get your news
00:03:03.200media from? ABC, CP24 and 98.1, yeah. Television, CP24, global news. Can I ask where you get your
00:03:15.440news media from? I just make it up. I'm going to say online, a lot of would be online. Probably
00:03:20.760global. There's global, national post, so sometimes I'll see something on TikTok. It'll kind of
00:03:28.880encourage me to want to go look more into it and so then I kind of do my own research separately
00:03:32.900outside of that honestly this might be a bit biased but my my family yeah but um but like i
00:03:38.980like to read on the internet obviously the mainstream uh sources um but then i also like
00:03:45.060deep dive into things because um i like to question the sources that they're coming from
00:03:49.620um of course like you know cp24 and all these other mainstream media outlets they're very
00:03:55.780politically driven in some cases and so i've seen that firsthand depending on where what the the
00:04:01.460news can be. I've taught marketing before and so this is what I've always told my
00:04:06.060students is always question like the source and where it's coming from so
00:04:09.840that's kind of what I try to do too. One of the promises that Carney actually
00:04:13.820made on the campaign trail was to increase funding to the CBC by 150
00:04:17.920million dollars so the CBC actually gets like almost half a billion dollars from
00:04:22.940the government every year or something like that it's like 400 million it's
00:04:25.880something really high. Can we can we really trust them to be objective?
00:04:30.260No, of course not. Of course not. I mean, if the media houses are being funded by the government with that kind of huge sum, I mean, their loyalty will be to the government. Yes? I think so.
00:04:44.940So one thing that I'm asking people to do is consider other sources of news, like independent media.
00:04:51.100I mean, we trusted the liberals for the last how many years under Justin Trudeau's policies and whatnot,
00:04:57.060and the country's kind of gone, so there's not much I can say.
00:05:01.760I would have liked to see a change in the parties, conservative, pure,
00:05:06.120see what his policies are, see what he's about, and yeah.
