On this episode of the Forward podcast, I am joined by my good friend and long-time colleague, Chaz from the Jewish Voice for America, to discuss the latest in the anti-Netanyahu and anti-Americanism movement in the right wing of the political spectrum. We talk about why the right is becoming increasingly hostile towards Israel and why we should be worried about it.

00:00:00.000 By the way, is it true that Pierce used to be with Sky News
00:00:05.440 and then you came?
00:00:06.700 Yes.
00:00:07.180 Did you see Pierce and Dave Rubin are having a massive fight online?
00:00:09.980 I saw that.
00:00:10.640 What do you think about it?
00:00:12.260 I was surprised.
00:00:14.220 I was surprised by how personal it got.
00:00:18.760 Right.
00:00:19.080 Yeah.
00:00:19.540 Because Pierce was on Rubin's show, and I know Dave Cobb well,
00:00:23.520 and Dave told him why he doesn't like to do the show
00:00:29.140 and what it's kind of devolving into.
00:00:32.060 And Pierce didn't say anything back.
00:00:34.380 He was kind of understanding.
00:00:36.060 And then it's got all ugly online.
00:00:37.820 I'm like, just juke it out whilst just sitting opposite each other.
00:00:41.540 Well, Dave said something back.
00:00:42.940 He says, pretty sure Megan got some of the Botox.
00:00:45.160 Well, yeah, that was not going to help.
00:00:46.200 And Pierce would sell his mother to a jihadist for a click.
00:00:49.100 That's post everything else.
00:00:49.940 Okay, all right.
00:00:50.360 That was at 17 hours.
00:00:51.260 That's pretty bad.
00:00:51.860 So that comment.
00:00:53.240 And then from there, Pierce got into it.
00:00:55.480 Four months ago, I drove out to Ruben's podcast at his home in Miami.
00:00:58.380 me personal favor because he's done my show many times i thought we were friends how wrong could i
00:01:03.500 be what a treacherous little weasel treacherous they uh yeah they've gone they've gone so what 0.58
00:01:10.000 do you think about this whole israel thing because that last sentence right being netanyahu's useful 1.00
00:01:14.480 idiots has sent him and shapiro nuts every time this israel netanyahu comes people on both sides 0.98
00:01:22.920 lose their mind why do you think that is look we're talking about this um in melbourne recently 0.99
00:01:30.300 i was with a group of uh members of the jewish community it was a function and we talked about
00:01:37.940 this and i've talked to jewish friends about this a lot recently because there is this fracture on
00:01:44.100 the right, where an increasing number are anti-Israel, you would say, or at least very
00:01:52.620 cynical about Israel, I would say, rather than anti-Israel, cynical about Israel.
00:02:00.660 And it's something I think the Jewish community, certainly in Australia, is very much aware
00:02:07.660 of and something that some of them understand what's behind it. I think there's a lot of factors
00:02:16.140 but yeah I think it's a real concern for them because they know where the left stands on this
00:02:24.160 issue. The left have made it very clear particularly post-October 7 where they stand and
00:02:29.440 to maintain support on the right I think they have to change the tactics a little bit and again I'm
00:02:37.560 generalising here when I say they I'm talking about the lobby in general but this cancellation
00:02:44.660 if anybody says something that is a little bit different to what you want or is a little bit
00:02:51.500 critical of whether it's Netanyahu or Israel's stated position to I think there's been an
00:03:00.260 eagerness by some not by all by some to immediately attack that position as anti-semitic and I think
00:03:07.300 that's really counterproductive and I think that's behind some of the sentiment we've seen where
00:03:13.200 people are not happy with people being cancelled or attempting to cancel people because
00:03:23.340 they have taken a position that the lobby may not agree with I think it's just
00:03:28.300 unhelpful and I think I don't like the principle of it I think people should be able to say what
00:03:34.840 they want unless you're threatening or saying something that breaches the law then
00:03:41.960 counter it with arguments don't counter it with trying to get their advertisers cancelled or try
00:03:50.520 to de-platform them as some sort of you know um undesirable who who who cannot be reasoned with
00:04:00.820 I think there's just been a little bit of that from certain segments
00:04:03.460 of the community that has been really counterproductive.
00:04:06.500 I've seen it here in particular but also in Australia.
00:04:12.040 But, yeah, there is this growing wing of the right that is becoming more
00:04:19.000 and more hostile towards Benjamin Netanyahu in particular.
00:04:24.960 It is interesting and I think it's something that Republicans have got to be aware of.
00:04:32.160 You can't ignore it.
00:04:33.140 You ignore it at your peril.
00:04:34.360 I still think it's a small minority though because there's so much talk about MAGA's fractured
00:04:40.020 and it's disintegrating and there was another poll recently against CNN, 98% of MAGA stands
00:04:48.540 with Trump.
00:04:49.400 So if that's a fracture, then that's pretty well handled.
00:04:54.640 I think that was July 2025 when they showed that.
00:04:58.100 That clip is from July 2020.
00:05:00.260 I've seen that clip when they showed it.
00:05:02.560 It'll be, you know, the one thing with him is he is a guy that gets ahead of it.
00:05:06.880 He watches all the numbers.
00:05:08.100 He watches all the polls.
00:05:09.140 I mean, I just don't understand someone on the right who say,
00:05:13.600 I'm not voting for Republicans.
00:05:17.580 Or even before the election, they were saying not voting for Trump.
00:05:21.440 What are you then backing?
00:05:23.320 I mean, he may not be as pure ideologically as you want,
00:05:28.780 but look at what he's done.
00:05:30.420 What other Republican would have achieved half of that?
00:05:33.820 And what would have Kamala done? 0.54
00:05:35.580 I mean, that mindset I do not understand.
00:05:40.380 I can fully understand if you've got some rhino that you don't want
00:05:45.240 to vote for, go for it.
00:05:46.900 But if Trump is not strong enough for you, then I don't know what is.
00:05:52.680 I mean, there's things he says or does that I don't agree with,
00:05:56.920 but you're never going to have 100% in agreement with anybody.
00:06:03.580 Did you ever do Pierce's show?
00:06:05.560 Did he ever do your show or you guys have?
00:06:06.980 Well, Pierce, I must have done his show at some point.
00:06:10.640 I mean, I took over his time slot at Sky News, so he was with us.
00:06:16.100 And I think he had a fairly long-term contract.
00:06:18.360 I think it was like five years from memory.
00:06:20.140 and then after a year or so he went off and did his own thing.
00:06:26.580 And so, yeah, I took over his time slot in Australia
00:06:29.080 but it was a show he did that also ran in the UK
00:06:33.140 so I don't know who took it over in the UK.
00:06:36.720 But I've never done this current version of his program
00:06:40.420 which is very shouty.
00:06:43.380 Very shouty, yes.
00:06:44.780 very shouty which is what I think Dave Rubin was uh objecting to I don't mind the shoutiness I mean
00:06:52.560 I see clips every now and then and I find it amusing some of it's quite funny I think someone's
00:06:57.540 gonna do it someone's gotta do it and I think Pierce is the right guy to do it because Pierce
00:07:01.820 is not afraid to get out there and wrestle with the pigs and then go talk to guy that's running
00:07:08.880 for office and then go talk to president go talk to Ronaldo I think he's talented he's made for TV
00:07:13.940 So whatever people want to say, the guy was made for TV, period.
00:07:17.420 But I think this product is ideally suited for him because, like you said,
00:07:22.400 he can moderate it, but he can also moderate it with also stating his own opinion.
00:07:28.740 So he's not just, yeah.
00:07:30.320 He's fearless.
00:07:31.040 But, you know, Ben Shapiro made the video about him.
00:07:34.380 I think Ben said something about him.
00:07:36.120 And then, you know, Ben and Dave Rubin are part of the same camp,
00:07:38.480 and they're on the same page.
00:07:40.560 And Pierce, I don't know if Pierce is part of any camp.
00:07:43.940 I think Pierce is a standalone guy.
00:07:45.980 You know what, Pierce to me is not, to me is not a conservative.
00:07:49.120 To me he's a genuine centrist because there are some things
00:07:52.460 he's very conservative and other issues where he's very much on the left.
00:07:58.140 So to me he's a genuine centrist where his political belief
00:08:02.480 sort of spread over the whole spectrum.
00:08:06.560 I mean, during COVID, Pierce and I would have been very much
00:08:10.020 on opposite sides of the argument.
00:08:12.440 We would have had some shouting matches if he had the program back then.
00:08:18.100 He was pro-vaccine.
00:08:20.220 Look, he was very pro-everything.
00:08:22.860 He was pro-lockdown.
00:08:24.400 He was bloody getting upset with people who were breaching these irrational laws
00:08:29.940 that existed in Australia and the UK. 1.00
00:08:33.040 I mean, the stuff we had in Australia was so insanely idiotic. 0.96
00:08:38.600 it beggars belief that people accepted it and people did accept it that really changed my view 0.96
00:08:45.220 of australia i think forever because i never saw us like that i never saw us as so compliant and so
00:08:53.540 um scared because there was the scare campaign it was across the media
00:09:00.680 across all levels of government and people fell into line so in victoria you couldn't go fishing
00:09:09.180 You couldn't play golf.
00:09:11.100 They banned playgrounds for a period.
00:09:13.700 So kids couldn't go and play in playgrounds.
00:09:16.180 They had a five-kilometre radius around your property that you could go to.
00:09:24.120 So there was only for a period.
00:09:26.000 Five?
00:09:26.400 Five kilometres.
00:09:27.660 So, I don't know, three and a half miles that you could.
00:09:30.280 If you went outside of that, you'd get a fine.
00:09:33.160 Isn't that amazing?
00:09:34.040 Big fine.
00:09:35.340 We had curfews.
00:09:36.880 You had to be home by a certain hour, I think it was like 9pm, it was something quite early.
00:09:42.120 And we also had only an hour you could be outside exercising per day.
00:09:49.560 And the safest place was outside, the safest place was to be outside.
00:09:54.800 And all these crazy rules that I'm sure you had some states here in California, New York,
00:10:00.180 where you could be in restaurants, but you could only take your mask off at the table.
00:10:05.060 If you got up to walk, you had to put your mask on or, you know,
00:10:08.480 like just so many irrational, insane laws that no thinking person
00:10:13.780 could look at and go, this makes sense to reduce the spread
00:10:17.440 of the disease, but people accepted it.
00:10:19.300 We had border closures between states, so we had people trapped
00:10:24.260 between state lines, not able to go home for months,
00:10:28.680 people living in caravan parks.
00:10:30.440 we had people who whose family member was dying and they couldn't go across a state border to
00:10:38.260 say goodbye see them one last time because they weren't allowed the state borders were closed
00:10:42.860 so if you went from if you want to go to from victoria to new south wales you either were not
00:10:48.480 allowed um or you'd have to go into quarantine i mean the the the laws we had in australia were
00:10:56.860 Chinese Communist Party level crazy. And particularly in Victoria, that was the epicenter 1.00
00:11:03.420 of the COVID scare in Australia. For some of you that are watching it, that are fans,
00:11:07.640 she's officially on MNEC. So if you want to MNEC there and ask her questions, you can. I think her 0.77
