00:00:00.000 Today I want to talk to those of you guys that are actually killing it in business.
00:00:02.860 Yes, you. You're doing very well. You're the number one guy in your company,
00:00:05.840 in the industry. Everyone in the community knows who you are. You're making money. You have the
00:00:10.160 success, but you may have one blind spot that I want to highlight today. And if that blind spot
00:00:14.740 I highlight, you have the choice to say, Pat, totally disagree. But if you say, man, I've never
00:00:20.880 thought about it this way before, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel. Let me get right into
00:00:24.840 it. This last week I held a leadership retreat at Breakers Hotel, which is in Palm Beach. And I do
00:00:30.700 it every single year. It's a different meeting that I host. And it's two, three days where we start
00:00:35.140 seven o'clock in the morning and we go late. I think the first night we started seven ended at
00:00:40.260 two o'clock in the morning. Second night we started at seven. We ended, I got home at three o'clock last
00:00:43.860 night. Literally I got home three o'clock this morning is when I got home driving from Palm Beach
00:00:48.320 to Fort Lauderdale. But it's intense from beginning to the very end, right? And there's a moment in this
00:00:54.060 entire session where everyone, the people that are doing $10 million or more with their business
00:00:59.820 upwards of 40 million, they're all speaking, talking about what they're doing with their
00:01:03.260 business. And you're watching the level of, you know, how they're studying each other and level
00:01:09.520 goes up, up, up, up. The second top earner speaks and I watch them give a message, PowerPoint, great
00:01:17.040 message. They grab a seat. I'm sizing everybody to see how much they're taking notes, how much they're
00:01:21.860 trying to learn, what their intentions are, what areas they want to improve in. Then the last person
00:01:26.580 gets up and speaks, gives a message, then speaks, then explains their strategy, how they did it. So
00:01:34.840 detailed where it's as if she went 30 minutes. It was magical. It made no sense what she did. When like
00:01:43.820 you're watching, it was a clinic and here's how we do this. Here's how we do this. And the formulas
00:01:48.540 were so smooth and transferable that anybody, if they applied it, they would have the kind of
00:01:54.280 success with the business. And I'm sitting in the back and I'm walking back and forth and I'm pacing
00:01:59.160 back and forth and I'm watching everybody, everybody nonstop. Because I'm looking to see who's the one
00:02:03.220 that's going to figure out the next level in business. Because when you start making money,
00:02:06.880 one of the things you start doing is everybody starts telling you how amazing you are and you
00:02:10.460 start having those blind spots because your paranoia is gone. Your fear is gone. You're worried about
00:02:15.220 going to sleep at night, about how you're going to pay. Your bills are gone. Everybody tells you,
00:02:18.760 flatters you nonstop. Waiters, waitresses, employees, everybody just bows down to you.
00:02:23.240 So no one's really telling the weaknesses that you got. She's speaking. I watch the number two
00:02:30.360 earner in the room that's sitting to the right, sitting there, no notes, almost a little bit
00:02:35.640 disinterested. Like, yeah, you know, got it. Okay, cool. Boom. Like one of those moments where it's like,
00:02:43.880 when is this thing going to end? And then I tease him about not taking notes. And then I come up and
00:02:50.940 I wrote something on the board. I said, everything in my life has levels. Meaning, relationship,
00:02:58.040 friendship to meet all levels. Everything about friendships in my life is levels. Meaning,
00:03:02.380 if you and I just met, I'm very friendly. We just met. We're strangers. It's lowest level,
00:03:07.100 right? Next level is I come to the restaurant. You're a waiter. We see each other seven times.
00:03:12.280 Now you're an acquaintance. Okay? Next one, I know about you. You know about me. Maybe we got a
00:03:17.040 relationship. Next one, we break bread together. We have dinner. Because if you have break bread
00:03:21.200 together, you have dinner, there's some kind of relationship. Next one, we travel together. Let's
00:03:26.400 just say level five relation. We travel together. We get to know each other. Next one, next one,
00:03:30.560 next one, next one. And then there is that only one person at the top that knows everything about
00:03:35.240 you. One person. Not 10, not 20, not 40. It's one. The level below, that's five, right? I can go hang out
00:03:41.940 with friends and travel and have a blast, but they're not top tier. They're not second tier,
00:03:46.080 right? You do this yourself as well. Maybe you're not thinking about it. Let's go talk about students.
00:03:50.840 Okay? Talk about students. What different types of students are there in business? Lowest level is
00:03:55.260 what? Those that are just there, but not paying attention to nothing that's going on. Okay?
00:03:59.720 Number two level of students, what? Somebody that's there and maybe paying attention. Number three is
00:04:04.720 what? Somebody that's there paying attention and maybe actually reading the homework and assignment
00:04:09.400 that's given. What's number four? Somebody that's there paying attention, reading the assignment,
00:04:14.880 raising question, hypothetically. What's next? Somebody that does all of that stuff, ask the
00:04:19.800 question, rebuttal, involve, goes a little bit deeper. And then you keep going to the levels,
00:04:24.620 right? Then I think at the top level, one of the top three levels in my eyes is the student that
00:04:31.840 knows more than anybody else in the room, but acts like they don't know anything.
00:04:39.840 So, and what do I mean by this? Epictetus, I think is his name, this philosopher, stoic philosopher
00:04:45.960 said, it's impossible for man to learn anything that he already thinks he knows. Let me say this one
00:04:52.320 more time. It's impossible for man to learn anything that he already thinks he knows. I'll say it one more
00:04:59.240 time. It's impossible for a man to learn anything that he thinks he already knows, which means what?
00:05:06.580 You're sitting there and the attitude is kind of like, yeah, I already know this stuff. No, you don't
00:05:11.280 though. Yeah, but I do. I know this stuff. No, you don't. It's a blind spot. You're no longer a good
00:05:17.700 student. You used to be a good student. You were hungry. You wanted to learn. You were yearning for
00:05:23.480 information. But now just because you've read 78 books and you can quote something from some startup
00:05:29.200 book or blue ocean book or whatever, you're so cool. And you already know everything and you're
00:05:34.480 done. You know how scary of a blind spot it is? Because like this, everything can disappear. You
00:05:40.620 know why? Because in life, nobody in businesses grow like this and stay, you can never in business stay
00:05:47.200 like this. If you ever get to a point where you get too cocky and you're no longer learning,
00:05:51.480 your business either grows or it drops. Never stays flat. Never plateaus and stays flat like that.
00:05:57.560 It never does that. So for you, if you're watching and saying, Pat, what are you talking about? In my
00:06:02.020 office, I'm King Kong. When I walk in, everybody stops. When I go to conventions, everybody stops when
00:06:06.960 I walk into that event. When I go on social and I talk in different environments, everybody knows I'm a
00:06:11.940 major influence, all this other stuff. Yeah. But at every level, there's levels to this game. Which level
00:06:17.820 are you? Are you level tier seven? And there's no way you're going to be a tier nine or 10 or 12
00:06:23.220 because you already know it all. And you have to make that shift. Because if you don't, there's so
00:06:27.600 much you don't know about to get to the next level. But you got to be willing to stay humble and stay
00:06:32.400 a great student today, even though you're killing it, to make it to the next level. And if you don't,
00:06:37.940 you're going to revert back to the last level you used to be a year ago, two years ago, three years ago.
00:06:41.840 Not because I'm telling you it's going to happen because history keeps making this happen to people
00:06:46.120 over and over and over again in life and business and sports and every single industry. What I share
00:06:54.160 with you happens every single day. So having said that, if you got value from this video,
00:07:01.000 you're a top performer, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel. If you know others who
00:07:04.500 are top performers, share this video with them. But I got another video to share with you
00:07:08.360 with this right here. And it's two videos. And you never get this enough times to watch both of
00:07:14.660 these videos that I'm going to re-recommend because watching it one time is not enough.
00:07:19.120 To understand this concept, you have to be curious about reaching your capacity. And I got two videos
00:07:25.380 for you. One of them, if you've watched the Kobe Bryant interview, but it's been a year, six months,
00:07:31.240 18 months, go watch it again because you'll understand his level of obsession about winning.
00:07:35.820 Even if you just let it play in the background and you internalize the content. The other video
00:07:40.620 that I put up once before that if maybe you watch it two years ago, a year and a half ago,
00:07:44.980 but you haven't seen it for a while, go watch it again. That title is how to reach your full
00:07:49.160 potential. Pick one of these two videos, go watch them. And with that being said,
00:07:54.100 have a great week, everybody. Take care. Bye-bye.
