00:00:00.000 There's a bunch of different things going on right now in the government shutdown.
00:00:03.400 We hear the video that comes out, the story saying up to 20% of flights can be canceled
00:00:07.600 in coming weeks if the government shutdown drags on as airports endure first day of crippling
00:00:15.440 reductions. You hear pilots talking about a bunch of different things. You hear pilots saying,
00:00:20.180 hey, you know, we have folks that are working right now that are not getting paid, but they're
00:00:23.120 showing up today, et cetera, et cetera. And there was a rare Saturday Senate session that ends with
00:00:28.040 a few signs of shutdown progress. So as of right now, Rob, the latest thing we know is what?
00:00:33.860 The fact that eight senators have agreed. Is that the clip right there, Rob? Okay, there we go.
00:00:39.000 Can you go back to it? Yep. So the government shutdown on October 1st. On November 9th,
00:00:42.880 the United States advanced a funding measure by 60-40 vote. This is the first major bipartisan
00:00:48.840 movement towards reopening the government. The measure would extend federal funding through
00:00:53.400 January 30th, 2026 for some agencies. Attach three full-year appropriation bill, agriculture,
00:01:01.260 veterans affairs, and legislative branch as part of the broader package. Guarantee a future vote in
00:01:06.820 December on Affordable Care Act, health insurance tax credit issues, which has been a key sticking
00:01:11.720 point. And it's important to know this, that with the Obamacare, Trump wants to give you the credit.
00:01:17.280 He wants you to make a decision what you want to do with it because all the promises
00:01:19.920 Obama made that you're not, you're going to be able to keep your doctor. It's not going to be
00:01:23.600 costing you anything. Taxes will go up. We all know Obama lied on every one of those issues.
00:01:28.440 And that's proven by the left and the right. So many federal functions that have been severely
00:01:33.340 disrupted, the 900,000 federal employees that have been working without pay, SNAP, which is impacting
00:01:39.920 a lot of people's lives, especially immigrants that are here taking advantage of it.
00:01:43.900 You know, who some of them, that's that they're relying on you, the hardworking people to take
00:01:49.680 care of them. But Tom, where are we at with this?
00:01:52.560 Well, the Senate voted. You had to break the filibuster. You need to have 60 votes. And what
00:01:57.820 the Senate did, they haven't ended the government shutdown, but they have put together something
00:02:02.140 and they're sending it back to the House and the House is all upset. However, this should
00:02:05.880 be good news. But check this out. Look at the eight people that voted with the Republicans.
00:02:13.300 Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, Jackie Rosen of Nevada. Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
00:02:19.880 Both Nevada senators voted. Very interesting. We know Nevada was razor thin, you know, and
00:02:26.320 Trump got traction. Traction there was used to be blue, blue, blue. But the election there
00:02:31.100 also look at this, New Hampshire, Gene Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, both senators from New Hampshire
00:02:37.860 went with them. And this guy, I'm really proud of this guy, Dick Durbin of Illinois.
00:02:43.300 Went with the Republicans to break this. And then Tim Kaine of Virginia. Tim Kaine was
00:02:48.620 Hillary's VP candidate. And then, of course, the guy we expected for the last three months
00:02:54.780 to be at the Republicans, John Fetterman.
00:02:56.320 So those were the eight that went and they went with it. What's interesting, if you look
00:03:01.280 at it, I believe the Republicans got about 80 percent of what they wanted in the Senate
00:03:05.340 bill, whereas the Democrats got about 20 percent. For instance, Dick Durbin came across when
00:03:11.140 he said that Trump, that what they would put in there, and John Thune gets credit for this,
00:03:16.560 lonely, not very charismatic, just very effective, and just a good person, John Thune, apparently...
00:03:23.800 And a majority leader you're talking about.
00:03:25.280 Yep. Got everybody together. But, you know, John Thune has never been like the Schumer,
00:03:31.580 the Pelosi, the camera guy. He's always just kind of just there working. And he got it done.
00:03:36.340 But here's what he gave back to Durbin. He said, I'll tell you what, this is what we'll put in.
00:03:39.900 All the federal workers that were fired during the shutdown, not the ones that were fired during
00:03:46.600 those at the beginning when he started thinning things out, but all the ones that were fired
00:03:51.020 during the shutdown will get their jobs back. And there will be a provision to give them some
00:03:58.460 back pay, which shouldn't be huge in American people because that back pay thing has really
00:04:02.620 just kind of started. You know, it's not... Well, some had started before, but it's not cataclysmic.
00:04:07.900 It is to those people, but in terms of dollars to the U.S. taxpayer, you know, it's manageable.
00:04:13.100 So he gave that back, and Durbin said, OK, Thune, I'm in. And they went in. And so it was very
00:04:18.940 sensible, but what's really important... I'll go back, and these are my estimates, Pat. I think
00:04:23.900 the Republicans got about 80% of what they wanted. Specifically, they didn't want the Obamacare
00:04:29.800 subsidies just to roll over as this trillion-dollar wave in the American people. They got that.
00:04:35.800 They got what Wade wanted. So I think the Republicans got 80%. I think the Dems got 20%.
00:04:41.020 And people like Dick Durbin got the unionized federal workers get their jobs back. And so
00:04:46.100 they got their 60%.
00:04:46.840 Got it. So here's a tweet. No more money, hundreds of billions of dollars to the Democratic-supported
00:04:51.100 insurance companies for really bad Obamacare. The money must now go directly to the people
00:04:54.640 taking the fat cat insurance companies out of the corrupt system of health care. The people
00:05:00.520 can buy their own much better policy, much less money, saving for themselves an absolute fortune,
00:05:06.340 President Donald J. Trump. And while this is going on, and while this is going on, Scott Jennings,
00:05:13.460 Rob, can you pull up the Scott Jennings clip where he's talking to Abby? And on that clip,
00:05:18.680 he... Do you know which one I'm talking about? I put it... I may have put it in the PVD podcast if
00:05:24.120 you want to look for it. And he's saying, look, you know, I mean, the reality of it is,
00:05:30.000 you guys got what you wanted, right? You know, you were able to... You were able to use this as
00:05:37.280 for the election. Yeah, I think... Yeah, there you go. You were able to use this for the election,
00:05:43.260 the special elections that was taking place. And watch how she answers this. Look at this. Go ahead, Rob.
00:05:47.740 Republicans going to use leverage in their fight with Democrats when the Democrats are actually
00:05:54.240 the ones with the upper hand in the eyes of voters. Well, I'm sure Democrats will be more
00:05:58.860 than happy to open the government now. The election's over. I mean, I mean, part of the reason they
00:06:03.140 shut it down was to get through tonight. I mean, I... And so I would suspect they'll be going to open it
00:06:07.400 up by the end of the week. Adam Schiff, he was like, hold the line. There's lots of rumors of people
00:06:12.160 wanting to open it. Look, I don't see what is the incentive for Democrats to back down when voters are
00:06:17.660 basically saying Trump's not doing enough. It's the Republicans' fault. And then they basically
00:06:21.600 handed the keys in the last election... In this past election to the Democrats. It's... Where's the
00:06:27.160 leverage? Again, these are blue states electing Democrats. Not a shock. Democrats clearly wanted
00:06:33.240 this shutdown to get through Election Day. I do think they are facing pressure from their internal
00:06:37.860 coalitions. The unions, the air traffic controllers, the government employee unions are desperate to get
00:06:43.200 the government back open. They're feeling a little bit of internal heat. But again, the election's now
00:06:47.460 over. I'm sure tomorrow morning, phones will start ringing, and it'll be open soon enough.
00:06:51.320 This was a political shutdown, and that's what they did, and now we're through the election.
00:06:56.260 So now, by the way, while this is going on, you know, Rob, Adam, I'm going to come to you.
00:07:01.940 I do want to show something, because what he said right there is, these were all blue states.
00:07:07.100 These were... Not this one, Rob. The other one, the one with the link. Not the one that goes to X,
00:07:10.820 but the one that goes to YouTube. Okay.
00:07:12.960 That is showing what happens when they lose the special election.
00:07:16.820 Yeah. And then if you don't mind, Rob, go fast forward to...
00:07:21.560 Go, keep going, keep going, keep going. Go from right there. Go back a little bit.
00:07:24.800 Go back a little bit. When that starts, play from right there.
00:07:28.380 Okay. So watch this.
00:07:29.240 So now, is there any patterns to show what this means to midterms that's going to come up
00:07:36.320 in a year? And watch what Anton says here. And by the way, whether you like Anton or not,
00:07:41.740 he is fair, okay, when he's going through some of these numbers. So you can't just like him when
00:07:45.420 the polls are good for you, and then hate him when they're not. Watch this one here. Go ahead.
00:07:49.280 ...do well. I mean, just take a look at the House special elections. Take a look here,
00:07:52.880 the 2025 House special elections. Look at those in which Democrats outran Kamala Harris.
00:07:57.360 There have been five House special elections so far this year in every single one of them
00:08:02.080 across the board. Virginia, Texas 18, that was on Tuesday night. Florida 6, Florida 1,
00:08:08.100 Arizona 7. From blue districts like Arizona 7 to red districts like Florida 1 and 6,
00:08:13.640 what we are seeing are clear shifts towards the Democratic candidates in all five of them.
00:08:20.080 And we're talking about shifts on average, Kate Baldwin, of about or north of 15 percentage
00:08:25.880 points from the 2024 presidential baseline, which is even larger than the shifts that we saw
00:08:32.280 in both Virginia and New Jersey on Tuesday night. And a million things can happen in the year
00:08:39.020 until the midterms. With that caveat, what are you seeing? A year is a very long period of time,
00:08:45.760 but you know we've spoken about this. I like going through history. What do these...
00:08:50.140 Watch this. Watch what magnesium does to your power. Watch what magnesium does right now.
00:08:53.680 This a joke, Robert? Magnesium guy. Magnesium bros? Stop it.
00:08:56.860 Your elections usually forecast for the year ahead for the midterm elections. Well, I mean,
00:09:01.540 we take a look at the House special elections, right? If a party outperforms in House special
00:09:05.620 elections five out of five times, what do we see? They've gone on to win the U.S. House the
00:09:10.600 following midterm every single time since the 2005-2006 cycle. So when you see,
00:09:16.360 of course, that the Democrats are outperforming in all of them, historically speaking, that means
00:09:20.520 they go on to win the U.S. House of Representatives in the following midterm. And then, yes,
00:09:25.520 New York, New Jersey, Virginia. Yes, there's a blue city in New York City. Yes, the blue states
00:09:30.380 in Virginia and New Jersey. But historically speaking, when you sweep all three, you go back
00:09:35.580 since the FDR... Tom, do you agree with him? Well, yeah. History is absolutely... He is accurately
00:09:41.920 recounting history. And what happens is the special elections here usually are not about the
00:09:48.320 candidates. If you go deeper into it, and I know exactly what he's talking about, and he
00:09:52.800 is faithfully showing it without spin, so hats off to Mr. Enten. The issue is there's usually
00:09:59.720 an overriding issue that goes beyond the candidates because all those candidates are different, yet
00:10:05.100 five out of five races move. Make sense? Yeah. So, wow, is this a candidate? So it also shows
00:10:10.520 that the down-ballot effect by Kamala Harris was actually negative, not positive. She had
00:10:16.880 a negative impact on the down-ballot races. In other words, she didn't help it at all. It's
00:10:20.560 like, stay out of my state. I'm running for myself. I don't need your help. I don't want
00:10:24.040 you here. Well, guess what? The issue right now, the number one issue, when you talk to all
00:10:29.380 the core voters, and Enten has talked about it, I've seen polls on it, is affordability.
00:10:34.760 That's the word. It's James Carville all over again. The core Americans is on affordability.
00:10:40.520 And the mainstream media really did a—it's terrible, it's capricious, but they did a pretty
00:10:48.400 good job of pushing economic down, economic down, economic down out there on the American people
00:10:54.980 and the American voter. And, and, and, and, you've got these angry women under 40. Adam's talked about
00:11:02.600 it. I've talked about it. The polls have talked about it. So those are the three things. Affordability
00:11:06.700 is a top issue. The movement of, of basically angry women under 40. And then you've got the
00:11:13.180 mainstream media that wouldn't get off economic topics. Got it. Adam thoughts. The ghost of
00:11:17.680 James Carville comes back. Got it. Adam. It's the economy, stupid. So this whole government
00:11:21.600 shutdown thing, to me, as you said, James Carville and the economy, stupid. To me, I don't even
00:11:27.160 call it a government shutdown. I cover, I call it a government showdown. Because I feel like
00:11:32.420 we've seen this, it's a Groundhog Day with, with our tax dollars. Every year, it's just every time
00:11:38.880 they do these government showdowns. It's the same thing. It's theater, it's politics. They waited
00:11:43.460 till Tuesday elections were done. And it, all it ends up being is a short-term fix. I'm so sick of
00:11:49.840 these short-term fixes. Every year, it's the same movies, showdown time, showdown time, continuing
00:11:55.480 resolution time. What are we going to do? Filibuster time. And it's actually just getting annoying at this
00:12:01.140 point. Can we get a long-term solution? So we stopped doing this every single year. We know
00:12:06.540 this movie. We've seen it every single time. We know what the government's not going to shut down
00:12:11.020 forever. And how many lives are affected when it shut down for 40 days? It only started moving the
00:12:16.940 needle after the election was over, one. And all of a sudden, everyday people are getting affected
00:12:22.400 because their flights are getting canceled. So unless it affects people, the politicians have no problem
00:12:28.560 basically playing chicken with your tax dollars. Once you start saying, dude, I just got my flight
00:12:33.720 canceled. Hey, buddy, I'm going to miss a meeting. Can we get this thing figured out? That's when
00:12:38.520 they'll start moving. Until then, they don't really give a crap because they're getting paid.
00:12:42.960 Of course they are. Politicians are getting paid. But the everyday workers are getting paid.
00:12:47.440 The old bill compared to the new bill is nothing. And the fact that I want Democrat voters to
00:12:53.100 understand that your missed paychecks, your flights, your snap, and all that, it's because
00:12:58.280 the left was using it as leverage so they look good during their runs with Virginia and all that
00:13:03.840 nonsense. And even The Hill did a piece that said, Democrat senators fear getting hammered after no
00:13:09.320 kings for ending government shutdown. They have nothing. And you know, just like remember with the
00:13:14.680 border bill, Tom, they were like, no, we're not going to give you what you want unless you give
00:13:18.560 you know, billions of dollars to Ukraine, billions of dollars here, billions of dollars to like
00:13:23.020 Israel and all these places. And it's like, bro, like what? I don't like this hostage stuff. I agree
00:13:27.160 with you 100%. It's actually a hostage negotiation. But Tom, right now, the Republicans have the House
00:13:33.420 and the Senate. I don't feel like they're doing enough to not only go after everybody that has been
00:13:38.400 screwing Trump and screwing us for the past, you know, eight years. They're not doing enough to put
00:13:42.720 stuff in place, Tom, that's going to last. You know what I mean? He makes a great point.
00:13:46.420 Every year, this is going to change. Every year, they're going to keep doing the same thing.
00:13:48.780 Well, this is our government. But I think you have to remember the fog of what happened in
00:13:52.240 the election is fogging over all the winds. Look at the winds that have been happening on
00:13:56.260 international trade deals. Look at the winds that have been happening on rare earth minerals.
00:14:00.280 Look at the winds that have been happening on energy drill, baby drill, and the cost of oil
00:14:04.240 and heating oil. When the Northeast Democrat voters have lower cost heating oil this winter,
00:14:08.980 I hope they remember who made that happen. I hope they remember that that was President
00:14:13.740 Trump keeping his promise to drill, baby drill, which translates to your fuel tank, to your
00:14:19.260 airline ticket cost, and to your heating oil. I think all these winds are getting covered
00:14:23.940 by the fog, and I think the administration needs to do a PR tour reminding us all of all
00:14:29.260 the good things that happened, while at the same time, they offer some concrete, you know,
00:14:34.340 dates behind all this $1.5 trillion coming in to build more jobs in America. When are
00:14:40.980 those jobs coming? And to get after affordability. And I think if the president should go on the
00:14:45.840 offense about this, he's got a lot of good stuff to talk about.
00:14:48.180 I do think the affordability is something that needs to be focused on.
00:14:53.420 Tomorrow's Veterans Day. And what we want to do for the veterans who are watching this,
00:14:59.080 we have a whole new series of merch for veterans. Rob, if you can zoom in into some of these
00:15:02.540 guys here, whether you're Army, we got an Army Future Looks Bright, we got go a little
00:15:08.300 bit lower, Rob, if you could. We got those hats with the Velcro, that right there, the
00:15:12.720 Army Future Looks Bright patch is insane. Go lower, Rob, you know, Air Force, Navy, keep
00:15:18.900 going, keep going, keep going. We got those green hats. Those green hats, they won't last
00:15:22.940 long. Every time we have those, they disappear. The one on the right, it's absolutely sick on
00:15:27.820 the front of it. It says Future Looks Bright. U.S. Armed Forces, Marines, keep going.
00:15:32.540 And then you have the USA hat. That's another one. It's one of our most, I think it's the
00:15:36.600 top five most reviewed hats of all time that you have right there. The USA with the, what
00:15:43.920 do you call it? Camouflage. Camouflage on there. Armed Forces in the middle with the
00:15:47.060 dog tag. Sick shirt. Keep going lower, Rob, keep going lower. And you got the Army
00:15:50.680 greens, the hats in the middle, and then go to the next one, that Angry Patriot shirt to
00:15:55.420 the right. Nice. You got a bunch of stuff here. And here's what it is. Go to vtmerch.com,
00:16:00.740 place your order. Use the code VETERAN for a discount. VETERAN for a discount. And 10% of
00:16:08.580 every purchase made will go to charities that are related to folks who are serving. And we
00:16:16.700 have a handful of them that we're working with. Trust me, we're very selective on who,
00:16:19.700 which one then we go through. 10% of whatever purchase is made will go to different charities
00:16:25.460 out there. And if you use the code VETERAN, you'll get a 10% discount as well. Some of

00:16:34.960 and place the order for yourself. And if it's not you, you have a friend that went to the
