Chip Wilson is the founder of Lululemon and is worth an estimated $4B. In this episode, he talks about how he went from zero to doing $12B of revenues per year in a short period of time.
00:00:00.00030 seconds, one time for the underdog, ignition sequence start, let me see you put em up, reach the sky, touch the stars, up above, cause it's one time for the underdog, one time for the underdog.
00:00:17.300I'm Patrick Bedeby, host of Alletainment, and today we're going to be sitting down with Chip Wilson, the founder of Lululemon, $4 billion net worth.
00:00:24.700He's going to talk about how he took his business, Lululemon, from zero to doing $12 billion of revenues per year.
00:00:31.920So when they started Lululemon, they were 1%, 1% of their customers were men.
00:00:37.240They went from 1% in 1998 to 30% in 2018.
00:00:51.860For some of you that don't know, when Chip and I were talking for a few weeks about wanting to do this interview, we were thinking about doing it in our Speedos today, but we thought it was inappropriate, maybe you'd be uncomfortable.
00:01:01.420And that is an inside joke, because one thing about Chip's work environment is, if he had it his way, why don't you tell the rest of us?
00:01:08.180If he had it your way, what would you wear?
00:01:09.740Three-piece, maybe Armani suit, or what would it look like?
00:01:13.300I mean, I guess from living a lifetime as a competitive swimmer, you know, when I was young, it's funny how I'm 63 years old and still define myself as a competitive swimmer.
00:01:21.180But, you know, living that life in a Speedo was, you know, just the most comfortable thing ever.
00:01:26.120And I think the cold water and swimming always kind of cooled me down.
00:01:29.960So when I actually went to put clothes on, it was exceedingly uncomfortable, and I felt I was always sweating.
00:01:35.300So the Speedo felt where life really happened for me.
00:01:38.120So how wild is that? You like to have the least amount of clothes on, but your business is to put clothes on people, right?
