00:00:00.000 30 seconds. One time for the underdog. Ignition sequence start. Let me see you put them up. Reach the sky, turn the stars up above. Cause it's one time for the underdog. One time for the underdog.
00:00:17.320 I'm Patrick Medevi, your host of Value Tame, and today we're going to talk about three types of goals to be thinking about in 2019.
00:00:22.940 It's that time of year where everybody's going to be talking to you about business planning, life planning, what you're going to do with New Year resolution, all that other stuff.
00:00:29.540 But look, let me give you some insight about business planning that will hopefully give you some clarity.
00:00:34.800 I've seen and read many, many business plans, thousands of business plans I've read in my career, and I can tell you when I knew if a business plan was going to move the individual or not.
00:00:48.840 And by the way, I experienced this personally, and that's when I started engaging with other people's business plans that I read.
00:00:55.020 I remember the first time I wrote a business plan, it was a homework. It was like, well, I feel like I have to write a business plan.
00:01:00.220 Second time, it was same thing. Third, fourth, fifth time. But in 06, I wrote a business plan that got me excited.
00:01:08.660 My eyes were like, I was like excited about it. I was like a little kid. I'm like, oh my gosh, next year's going to be an amazing year.
00:01:16.200 You know what I'm so excited about the following year? And it made me finish December strong to kick off my following year, which was 07.
00:01:23.300 Now, what was it? Look, you know, writing a business plan is almost like writing a novel or writing a paper.
00:01:29.960 The more you do it, eventually you get better at it.
00:01:32.440 But just like a great story has a plot, has a villain, has a hero, you know, all these things that a great fiction story has, a great business plan has some of those elements as well.
00:01:42.600 Let me explain to you what I mean by this.
00:01:44.160 When you read a business plan, if the numbers on what you want, like the goals, you know, you got to have three different types of goals on your business plan.
00:01:51.960 One is your emotional goal, which is doing something for somebody else.
00:01:55.140 This year, if I make a half a million dollars, I'm going to get my mother a car and surprise her on her birthday.
00:02:01.580 This year, if I do $7 million of top line revenue, I'm going to go out there and do X, Y, Z for my wife and kids.
00:02:09.000 This year, if I do this, I'm going to give $100,000 to charity.
00:02:12.060 I'm going to give a half a million dollars to my church.
00:02:14.040 That's emotional. You're giving.
00:02:15.880 Very powerful goals, but it's giving.
00:02:18.280 Second type of goals are selfish goals.
00:02:20.720 If I do this, I'm going to buy me a Ferrari.
00:02:22.620 If I do this, I'm going to buy myself a condo.
00:02:25.140 If I do this, I'm going to buy me a Rolex.
00:02:27.100 I'm going to buy myself a Breitling.
00:02:29.020 I'm going to buy myself a Ferragamo suit, or I'm going to go out there and go shopping, $5,000, whatever that selfish goal is.
00:02:35.720 To some people, you have to have that as well.
00:02:37.940 And then the third one is a stable goal, which is what?
00:02:40.420 You know, I'm going to save $100,000 this year in 2019.
00:02:42.900 I'm going to save a half a million.
00:02:44.300 I'm going to save a million, $10 million, whatever that goal is.
00:02:46.780 So three different kind of goals.
00:02:48.280 You're emotional, you're stable, you're selfish goals you've got to have in place, right?
00:02:52.140 But that's not enough.
00:02:53.780 That's great.
00:02:55.160 The part that makes the business plan exciting, that gives you juice.
00:03:00.400 Like, oh my gosh, what if I go save a quarter million?
00:03:03.480 And what if I go and do that for my mom?
00:03:04.980 And what if I go, you know, and buy myself that Ferrari or that $750?
00:03:09.620 That's so exciting.
00:03:11.540 Those create excitement.
00:03:13.240 But it doesn't create belief in the business plan.
00:03:15.280 To create belief in your business plan, you need formulas.
00:03:20.940 And let me tell you what I mean by formulas.
00:03:24.360 Formulas that tell you exactly, if you do X times Y equals exactly what you want.
00:03:32.340 So you need a lot of different formulas.
00:03:35.120 I'm not talking like technical formulas.
00:03:37.460 It means if I make this many calls per week and I run this many appointments per week, and
00:03:43.380 if I do this for 52 weeks straight, I'm going to make this much money.
00:03:47.440 It tells you a formula.
00:03:48.740 If I go out there and make this many contacts, if I sell this many policies, if I go out there
00:03:55.760 and sell this many real estate, if I get this many clients, whatever it is within your business,
00:04:01.420 you need to have exactly the formula in place.
00:04:04.460 And once you have your emotional, your selfish, and your stable goal backed up with a formula
00:04:10.380 and a deadline tied to it, then there's excitement.
00:04:13.900 And if you combine those three, then you get that twinkle and you're right.
00:04:18.240 So I got two videos I want you to watch today because 2019 is all about planning.
00:04:22.680 And by the way, for us, in our company, I always talk about, you know, 2019 is a reflection
00:04:27.460 of what you do in December.
00:04:29.320 And December to us is very, very important.
00:04:31.100 We just came out from our most important Mastermind Alliance meeting that we've ever,
00:04:34.700 it was the greatest one ever.
00:04:36.560 Every single day we started at eight, we went till 11 at night.
00:04:39.420 Every day was 15 hour sessions for three straight days with 141 people in the room and no one
00:04:46.740 was yawning.
00:04:48.080 No one.
00:04:48.720 Everything was intentional.
00:04:50.380 They got a folder this big with strategies.
00:04:52.840 It was 250 pages of strategies that we covered with formulas.
00:04:57.340 You got to figure out your formulas.
00:04:59.100 Two videos you got to watch.
00:05:00.360 One, how to put your one page business plan.
00:05:02.820 The second video I want you to watch is how to make a million dollar year income.
00:05:06.720 The formulas in it.
00:05:07.700 Both videos are very important for you to watch before 2019.
00:05:12.240 And when you're watching it, don't just watch it on your phone or, you know, while you're
00:05:16.360 driving a car.
00:05:17.540 Get a paper and pen and take notes because I'm going to give you specific formulas for
00:05:22.900 2019 to use.
00:05:24.220 Again, one of the videos is the one page business plan.
00:05:27.440 The other video is how to make a million dollar year income.
00:05:29.940 Both of the videos you need to watch today.
00:05:31.800 And then tweet me at PatrickBitDavid on how focused you are by your 2019.
00:05:36.620 And when you do the one page business plan, you'll have exactly what you'll call the
00:05:40.880 year of something.
00:05:41.940 I want to know what 2019 is going to be for you and what you're going to call it.
00:05:45.400 The year of what?
