In this episode, I talk about why you should stop looking around and focus on what's right in front of you. In Argentina, there are a lot of people who are making a ton of money in their field, but they don't spend their entire lives trying to be like other people who went from zero to $2,000 to $10,000 in 2 years, and are killing it.

00:00:00.400 30 seconds. One time for the underdog. Ignition sequence start.
00:00:06.980 Let me see you put them up. Reach the sky, touch the stars up above.
00:00:11.120 Cause it's one time for the underdog. One time for the underdog.
00:00:17.340 I'm Patrick Bedevi, host of Valuetainment. Today we're going to talk about why you ought to stop looking around.
00:00:21.940 I am right now in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Let me tell you, this place is beautiful.
00:00:25.720 Yesterday I did a meetup with a bunch of guys. They showed up.
00:00:28.400 I sent a message on Instagram. Three hours later, a bunch of people showed up outside of the hotel and we had a great conversation to get.
00:00:34.260 And one of the entrepreneurs asked me this question. He said, look, he had just gotten married a month ago and he's running a business, consulting business, IT consulting business, and they're doing good.
00:00:44.660 Just three years ago, they were losing money. Two years ago, they were profiting two grand a month.
00:00:49.940 Right now they're profiting $10,000 a month in Argentina. That's a lot of money.
00:00:55.000 In Argentina right now, the sales tax alone in Argentina is 21%.
00:01:00.180 Their property tax is roughly 3% and their income tax, it's 35%.
00:01:06.460 It's what they got going on right now in Argentina.
00:01:08.080 Their inflation right now is 30% inflation.
00:01:10.860 It is some number like 21 million people in Argentina who can work.
00:01:16.000 Total population is like 45 million. 21 million people in Argentina who can work.
00:01:20.720 Out of the 21 million, only 8 million work to support the other 13 million.
00:01:25.900 That's a number of what's taking place right now in Argentina.
00:01:28.760 Yeah, that's what socialism does.
00:01:30.000 Taxes goes up, few work, the rest get taken care of by the few that work.
00:01:33.580 It's a challenging place to be.
00:01:35.000 But this guy asked me a question. He says, Pat, what do you think about this?
00:01:37.960 I want to go into real estate. Should I go into real estate?
00:01:40.740 But I said, why are you looking into real estate?
00:01:43.620 He said, well, I see all these other people doing so good in real estate.
00:01:45.720 I'm thinking about maybe I should go into real estate.
00:01:48.740 I said, look, what is a couple sports that Argentina is known for that you guys are the best in?
00:01:55.220 He said, soccer.
00:01:56.540 I said, polo as well, right?
00:01:58.460 He said, yes.
00:01:59.640 Just so you know about polo.
00:02:00.820 I know polo was founded in Iran to all my Persian bodies.
00:02:03.340 I keep sending me messages on Instagram and Snap.
00:02:05.340 But nine out of the top ten best polo players in the world are in Argentina.
00:02:11.000 And the one who's not is from Uruguay, but he plays in the Argentina League as well.
00:02:15.060 What's the point here?
00:02:16.340 See, Argentina specialized in polo and soccer.
00:02:19.680 America, we specialize in basketball, okay?
00:02:23.120 You know, Brazil specializes also in soccer.
00:02:26.280 Dominican Republic, baseball.
00:02:28.780 Look at the kind of people they produce.
00:02:30.440 Russia, Canada, maybe hockey, right?
00:02:33.420 You look at Iran wrestling.
00:02:36.040 Iran, every year in the Olympics, if you face Iran, they typically win the gold medal in wrestling and weightlifting and sometimes karate.
00:02:44.180 Why?
00:02:45.020 They specialize.
00:02:46.080 What's the point here?
00:02:47.420 If you want to compete in the top 1% of 1% of 1% in any field, it takes a lot of momentum and a lot of patience and many years of just doing and refining your game.
00:03:02.800 Can you imagine if Argentina right now decided to say, we want to compete and produce the best baseball players in the world?
00:03:07.480 Honestly, how long do you think it would take before Argentina started producing the best baseball players?
00:03:11.820 One year?
00:03:13.020 20 years?
00:03:13.860 50 years?
00:03:14.420 How long has America been trying to win the World Cup?
00:03:17.020 How long?
00:03:17.640 How many times have we won it yet?
00:03:19.400 It's a different story.
00:03:20.120 This doesn't mean don't give an effort and try.
00:03:23.060 But the idea is anybody that specializes goes to the top of the field in the top 1% of 1%.
00:03:29.260 Most people don't want to do it.
00:03:30.960 Most people want to kind of get good at a lot of things.
00:03:33.240 Oh my God, look what she's doing. 1.00
00:03:34.800 Oh my God, I should go into this.
00:03:36.720 No, maybe I should do this.
00:03:38.020 I should do digital marketing.
00:03:39.000 I should do that.
00:03:39.580 I'm going to be like this guy.
00:03:40.680 And they spend their entire lives trying to be other people where this guy who went from zero in profits to $2,000 to $10,000 and is killing it now.
00:03:51.000 He's trying to look into real estate.
00:03:52.240 He's got 32 employees.
00:03:53.960 I told him, focus.
00:03:54.900 Go two to three more years and see what happens then.
00:03:56.800 Keep scaling your business.
00:03:57.740 You're doing good.
00:03:58.760 And then if you want to do real estate, buy real estate.
00:04:00.540 We don't have to leave your business.
00:04:01.740 Maybe someone's going to be interested and want to buy your business.
00:04:04.700 So moral of the story, focus, specialize.
00:04:07.800 Don't get distracted.
00:04:08.980 Thanks everybody for listening.
