00:00:00.380 30 seconds. One time for the underdog. Technician sequence start.
00:00:07.000 Let me see you put them up. Reach the sky, touch the stars up above.
00:00:11.140 Cause it's one time for the underdog. One time for the underdog.
00:00:17.320 I'm Patrick Bedevi, host of AITM, and today I want to talk about what happens when the CEO is ready.
00:00:22.220 When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
00:00:25.000 You ever heard that before?
00:00:26.840 Where people say, you know, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
00:00:29.800 When the student is ready, the master will appear.
00:00:32.560 When the student is this, the teacher will appear.
00:00:34.280 We've heard it so many different versions.
00:00:36.220 Oh, this is what it is.
00:00:37.240 And have you ever questioned that?
00:00:39.840 Have you ever questioned that statement?
00:00:41.740 Because I don't necessarily know if it's 100% accurate.
00:00:46.360 Let me explain to you what I mean by that.
00:00:50.140 Everybody who's watching this, everybody's a teacher.
00:00:55.480 Everybody.
00:00:55.840 A teacher is not somebody that's just superior to you.
00:01:01.160 Everybody's a teacher.
00:01:02.060 You're a teacher.
00:01:02.640 I have two boys.
00:01:03.280 My three-year-old is a teacher to the 18-month-old.
00:01:06.160 My nephew is a teacher to my three-year-old.
00:01:09.640 My niece is a teacher to my, you know, nephew.
00:01:13.980 It doesn't matter at whatever levels we go.
00:01:18.860 Even the bad habits we learned as a kid.
00:01:21.700 You know, somebody was a teacher teaching us the bad habits and the good habits.
00:01:25.500 Everybody who's watching this is a teacher.
00:01:29.040 Many times we think, you know, when the student is ready, you know, the teacher will appear.
00:01:33.160 We're all only students.
00:01:34.900 Where I think we're all students and teachers because the statement really is, if you want to do anything great, it's not just about when a student is ready, the teacher will appear.
00:01:43.500 It's about when a great teacher is ready, thousands of students will appear.
00:01:52.500 When the teacher is great, a flock of students will appear.
00:01:58.840 When the teacher is ready, thousands will appear.
00:02:03.020 You know why?
00:02:04.660 Because I can tell you every time I speak to somebody, I'm like, oh my goodness, my business has changed.
00:02:11.700 I'm a whole different person.
00:02:12.580 I can't believe what's taking place.
00:02:13.720 I had our biggest revenue year.
00:02:15.620 I've made more money this year than I've ever made.
00:02:17.420 We're growing.
00:02:18.040 We can't even stay in the same office anymore.
00:02:19.820 We need new staff.
00:02:20.620 We need new employees.
00:02:21.400 We need new support.
00:02:22.500 We need new everything because of growth.
00:02:26.520 And I say, why do you think this has happened?
00:02:28.300 It's just like I got lucky.
00:02:29.420 No, you became a better teacher.
00:02:31.660 You became a better leader.
00:02:33.780 And when you become a better teacher and a better leader, you purely attract better talent.
00:02:39.120 You attract quality people.
00:02:40.740 You attract people that want to be around you.
00:02:42.580 You attract people who want to be taught by you, who want to be your students, who want to work with you, who want to be around your presence.
00:02:49.900 Because you're becoming a better teacher.
00:02:52.640 And the reality of it is we're in a place right now with that man right there.
00:02:57.720 You know, all he did is he became a better teacher.
00:03:01.180 Lincoln became a better teacher.
00:03:02.580 And thousands and millions voted for that man to become a president because what he did was revolutionary.
00:03:13.460 Civil rights movement, how much criticism he got, and eventually he got killed a few blocks from here.
00:03:22.920 He got shot at Ford Theater a few blocks from here.
00:03:25.860 And a man over there, Martin Luther King, who spoke, and there was tens of thousands of people here.
00:03:34.280 And he had meetings with presidents.
00:03:36.620 He taught the presidents.
00:03:39.000 He taught people.
00:03:41.740 President Lincoln taught people.
00:03:44.440 They became better teachers.
00:03:45.940 Yes, they're students as well because they're also being taught.
00:03:48.540 But they eventually became a great teacher.
00:03:54.260 And I think if anything you get from this message is instead of always just being a student, also work on being a better teacher as well.
00:04:05.020 Because with being a better teacher comes a bunch of students for you to choose, for you to lead, for you to coach, for you to teach.
00:04:13.840 And you'll have the choice to pick them.
00:04:15.320 It won't be the other way around.
00:04:16.320 There's nothing like a teacher having choices on who they want to teach.
00:04:20.540 And believe me, a lot of teachers take a liking into somebody.
00:04:23.440 If a great teacher took a liking into you, let me tell you, your life's going to change.
00:04:28.680 If somebody who's an incredible teacher and very wise decided to like you and put time and effort into you, I can't tell you the things that could happen.
00:04:37.340 I'm a byproduct of it.
00:04:40.640 Many people are a byproduct of it.
00:04:42.580 Anybody that ever does anything great is a byproduct.
00:04:44.640 Thanks, everybody, for listening.
