00:00:00.880 30 seconds. One time for the underdog. Ignition sequence start.
00:00:07.000 Let me see you put them up. Reach the sky, turn the stars up above.
00:00:11.120 Cause it's one time for the underdog. One time for the underdog.
00:00:17.340 This is Patrick B. David, your host of Attainment.
00:00:19.460 In today's episode, I'm going to talk to you about the history of U.S.-Iran conflict.
00:00:24.320 You know, and going back, not just in the last 10, 20 years,
00:00:27.340 we got to go back 60, 70, 80 years to see what is really causing all this stuff.
00:00:31.380 So by the time it's done with, whether you're from Iran or Middle Eastern or not,
00:00:36.000 you're going to sit there and say, I've never heard of some of these things before
00:00:38.560 and it's starting to make some sense to me.
00:00:40.320 So here's what we're going to cover in today's episode.
00:00:42.040 Number one is current Iran state of economy. How bad is it over there?
00:00:46.540 Is it as bad as people make it out to be?
00:00:48.680 Number two, relevant countries that have to do with everything that's going on with Iran continuously.
00:00:54.160 Lastly, then timeline, because a lot of times when we look at what's going on today,
00:00:58.620 how do we get to where we are today?
00:01:00.560 So we'll kind of roll back all the way back to 1908.
00:01:03.700 And then what presidents in U.S. did well with leaders or prime ministers of Iran?
00:01:09.720 And then my final thoughts on what I think is taking place and how some things will change
00:01:13.320 and some things may not change.
00:01:15.380 And the one thing you don't hear a lot of people talk about that keeps capping into Iran,
00:01:18.720 and there's a reason for it. We'll talk about that at the end of the episode.
00:01:20.840 So let's get right into it. Current state of economy in Iran.
00:01:23.640 Number one, unemployment rate currently for young Iranians is 27%,
00:01:28.100 and those graduating from universities, 40%.
00:01:31.880 So that's not a good thing right there when you're looking at that,
00:01:33.820 because people cannot find jobs, especially the youth.
00:01:36.820 Number two, inflation is estimated to be at 40%,
00:01:40.620 although Professor Steve Hanke from Johns Hopkins University,
00:01:44.560 who was a senior economist to President Reagan,
00:01:47.300 says there's no way in the world it's at 40%.
00:01:49.500 It's at least at 250%, but again, 40% to 250% is still terrible for any country.
00:01:56.500 On top of that, families who want to go feed their kids today, in the last 12 months,
00:01:59.960 meat prices are up 57%, milk and egg up 37%, vegetables up 47%.
00:02:07.680 That's basic shopping.
00:02:09.300 Outside of that, their currency, the real,
00:02:11.540 has lost 60% of its value against the U.S. dollar in the last 12 months.
00:02:16.840 Today, a dollar equals 42,000 reals.
00:02:21.360 Some are even saying they're spending over 100,000 reals per dollar.
00:02:25.520 And last but not least, in this category with oil,
00:02:28.120 they've lost $10 billion of revenues in oil in the last 12 months.
00:02:31.060 I'll give you some data for you to be thinking about it.
00:02:32.940 From May of 2018 to October of 2018.
00:02:38.220 Comparing that five-month run to November of 2018 to March of 2019,
00:02:45.580 here's how many barrels they sold in the first five months versus the second five months.
00:02:49.800 Ready?
00:02:50.300 First five months to China, they were selling 590,000 barrels a day to China.
00:02:56.720 The second five months, only 360,000.
00:02:59.240 To India, 563,000 barrels per day to only 300,000.
00:03:04.640 Japan was buying 149,000 barrels per day to 50,000.
00:03:10.680 Taiwan was doing 32,000 barrels a day to zero.
00:03:14.440 Turkey was doing 120,000 barrels a day to 73,000.
00:03:18.140 Greece was doing 85,000 barrels a day to zero.
00:03:21.000 And Italy was doing 121,000 barrels a day to zero.
00:03:24.520 This is real stuff here.
00:03:26.400 I mean, imagine you're selling a product,
00:03:28.020 and you're selling so much of it,
00:03:29.700 all of a sudden everything flips nearly 50%, 80%.
00:03:33.040 No one's ordering oils from you anymore.
00:03:35.060 Why is that?
00:03:36.080 So if Iran was a business,
00:03:37.400 they're about to go out of business if they go out to space.
00:03:39.100 I mean, you cannot go all of a sudden
00:03:40.320 with all these customers that are buying your products
00:03:42.440 and suddenly 50%, 70% it's down.
00:03:45.560 This is not a good thing for a business,
00:03:47.420 let alone a nation,
00:03:48.980 that needs to figure out a way to feed families
00:03:50.940 and support and create jobs, right?
00:03:52.400 But every time you see a story like this,
00:03:55.300 you've got to look behind closed doors
00:03:57.120 to see who's pulling strings.
00:03:58.480 Is there anybody that's influencing this?
00:04:01.080 And here's some of the countries I want you to be thinking about.
00:04:03.580 U.S., obviously, U.K., Israel, Saudi Arabia,
00:04:07.960 and then you've got Russia, Venezuela, and Lebanon.
00:04:10.740 Obviously, Lebanon,
00:04:12.080 because Lebanon and Iran share a common enemy,
00:04:14.780 which is Israel.
00:04:16.140 An enemy of an enemy is a friend.
00:04:18.680 And so Israel is an enemy to Iran,
00:04:22.060 and Israel is an enemy to Lebanon,
00:04:24.220 which means they're allies.
00:04:25.680 And I think in 2008,
00:04:27.000 the president of Lebanon went to Tehran
00:04:28.720 and struck a deal economically and military,
00:04:31.220 and they both kind of have things that they like, right?
00:04:33.560 So you've got to kind of look at some of these countries.
00:04:35.720 But let's go back in timeline
00:04:37.340 and see how this whole thing came about.
00:04:38.740 Obviously, there are certain things that are causing this,
00:04:41.840 but let's go back to 1908.
00:04:43.960 1908, Anglo-Persian Oil Company gets started, right?
00:04:47.600 People find that Iran's got some oil.
00:04:49.640 Oh my gosh, what if?
00:04:51.300 And you know, every time this happens,
00:04:52.500 money, opportunity, greed.
00:04:54.160 We've got to get a hold of this.
00:04:55.580 What if we can get some money here?
00:04:57.100 And at that time,
00:04:58.080 Iran doesn't have all the technology
00:04:59.680 to be able to get the oil,
00:05:01.300 and U.K. did.
00:05:02.520 Britain did.
00:05:03.120 So they came in.
00:05:03.960 We'll help you.
00:05:05.080 But they struck a deal with them in 1914.
00:05:07.980 They came in and they say,
00:05:09.020 we'll help you,
00:05:09.900 but we want to own 50% of all of it.
00:05:12.420 Imagine, you are Iran.
00:05:14.620 It's your country.
00:05:16.000 It's your oil.
00:05:16.980 But Britain strikes a deal with you
00:05:19.000 to own 51% of it.
00:05:21.120 And this is the whole Anglo-Persian Oil Company
00:05:22.880 we're talking about,
00:05:23.920 which later on in 1954,
00:05:25.780 they changed the name to BP.
00:05:27.360 British Petroleum?
00:05:28.500 You've heard about them, right?
00:05:29.440 So that's 1914.
00:05:30.360 Now, let's talk about some of the leaders.
00:05:32.560 1925 to 1941,
00:05:34.920 Reza Khan,
00:05:35.980 Reza Shah Pahlavi,
00:05:37.540 who is Mohammed Reza Pahlavi's father,
00:05:40.620 becomes the Shah of Iran
00:05:42.020 from 1925 to 1941.
00:05:44.120 Then in 1941,
00:05:45.800 he appoints his son.
00:05:46.820 His son becomes the Shah
00:05:47.940 and he stays from 1941 to 1979.
00:05:51.800 This is very important
00:05:52.680 to know why this is taking place
00:05:55.160 from the father to the son.
00:05:56.280 The father had a very strong military.
00:05:59.200 He was a great general.
00:06:00.560 He was a warrior,
00:06:01.440 tough guy,
00:06:02.420 would push people around.
00:06:03.620 Everybody respected him
00:06:04.560 from his military,
00:06:05.360 you know,
00:06:05.660 record that he had.
00:06:07.260 And his son was a little bit different.
00:06:09.120 His son spoke six or seven languages.
00:06:11.480 He was more of the better,
00:06:13.580 well-spoken politician,
00:06:15.120 a little bit gentler,
00:06:16.360 a different kind of approach he had.
00:06:17.860 But he was in his father's shadow.
00:06:19.200 So he comes and takes over, right?
00:06:21.120 Then in 1951,
00:06:23.360 Mossadegh,
00:06:24.720 who in Iran,
00:06:26.000 comes out
00:06:26.660 and becomes the prime minister of Iran.
00:06:29.780 He comes out and says,
00:06:30.840 we've got to nationalize this oil situation.
00:06:33.060 Why are we giving it to Britain?
00:06:34.400 Why are we giving him so much money?
00:06:36.020 Britain gets upset
00:06:37.360 and similar to sanctions,
00:06:40.280 Britain imposes embargo
00:06:42.000 and halt exports,
00:06:44.020 which is not really good
00:06:45.080 because, again,
00:06:45.780 Iran cannot make money
00:06:46.980 because people are not buying products.
00:06:49.020 And Mossadegh,
00:06:49.860 to kind of make a comparison
00:06:50.820 of who Mossadegh was,
00:06:52.160 Mossadegh was a socialist,
00:06:53.620 similar to like a Bernie Sanders
00:06:55.180 with the communistic party in Iran,
00:06:57.900 Tudei,
00:06:59.000 really liked him
00:07:00.520 and they supported him.
00:07:01.420 So some say,
00:07:02.120 he was a communist.
00:07:03.060 He says,
00:07:03.520 I'm not a communist,
00:07:04.500 but some said he is a communist.
00:07:06.300 So there was kind of that going on
00:07:07.540 and Britain's obviously not happy about it.
00:07:09.520 So in 1953,
00:07:11.480 CIA and MI6,
00:07:13.260 which is the British intelligence,
00:07:15.480 they team up together to create a coup
00:07:17.580 and what happens?
00:07:19.080 They kick Mossadegh out
00:07:20.420 and Mossadegh ends up going
00:07:22.040 and living in a small town
00:07:23.000 away from everybody
00:07:23.820 in a place,
00:07:25.220 doesn't bother no one,
00:07:26.380 they just kind of wanted to get rid of him
00:07:27.800 and he goes out there
00:07:28.980 and he's gone, right?
00:07:30.260 So then Reza Pallavi comes back,
00:07:32.740 Mohamed Reza Pallavi,
00:07:33.820 they liked him
00:07:34.400 because he was good
00:07:35.020 with the Western nations,
00:07:36.340 goes back and starts creating commerce,
00:07:38.120 money, all that stuff,
00:07:39.340 goes back to where it was at before.
00:07:40.740 By the way,
00:07:41.480 CIA document released 60 years later
00:07:43.660 validates that the coup
00:07:45.900 did take place influenced by CIA
00:07:48.040 and the MI6.
00:07:49.640 These documents are now public,
00:07:51.020 you can actually go look at them.
00:07:52.420 So 1963,
00:07:53.580 the Shah,
00:07:55.000 he comes out and he says,
00:07:55.900 look,
00:07:56.620 he gets inspired.
00:07:58.000 He sees what's going on in America
00:07:59.340 with capitalism,
00:08:00.420 with education.
00:08:01.080 He says,
00:08:01.560 I want to do a similar thing.
00:08:03.380 He admired what the West was doing
00:08:05.440 and a lot of Iranians
00:08:06.760 didn't like his level of admiration
00:08:08.520 for U.S., right?
00:08:10.340 So he comes out
00:08:11.240 and launches this program
00:08:12.420 called the White Revolution.
00:08:14.420 And here's what some of the things
00:08:15.920 happened from 1963 to 1978
00:08:18.960 because of him launching
00:08:20.660 this White Revolution.
00:08:22.240 Number one,
00:08:22.760 Iran students,
00:08:24.560 the illiterate rate
00:08:26.020 was very, very high in Iran.
00:08:27.600 People couldn't read,
00:08:28.780 people couldn't write,
00:08:29.580 and it was something
00:08:30.040 everybody talked about.
00:08:31.420 He took it from 1.5 million students
00:08:33.700 in 1963 in all of Iran
00:08:35.400 to over 10 million students
00:08:37.140 by the time 1978 came around.
00:08:39.460 Total schools multiplied 3.24 times.
00:08:43.420 Schools all over the place
00:08:44.580 because he understood
00:08:45.340 the value of education
00:08:46.220 in order to increase
00:08:47.020 the economy of a nation.
00:08:48.760 Education-wise,
00:08:50.140 they were spending
00:08:50.660 45 billion riyals from 63 to 67,
00:08:54.140 raised it to 173 billion riyals
00:08:56.540 from 68 to 72,
00:08:58.280 and eventually 551 billion riyals
00:09:00.580 from 73 to 77.
00:09:03.340 The one thing that he did
00:09:04.380 that he didn't like
00:09:05.680 that was taking place in Iran,
00:09:07.240 he wanted to give a lot of
00:09:08.320 women's rights back to them.
00:09:09.940 So, women's right to vote,
00:09:12.160 you know, women's right
00:09:13.060 to run for office,
00:09:14.140 be a lawyer, be a judge.
00:09:15.800 Before that,
00:09:16.620 they couldn't do it.
00:09:17.840 And on top of that,
00:09:18.560 this one's going to sound strange
00:09:19.540 to a lot of people,
00:09:20.620 I advise you to go
00:09:21.700 actually research this.
00:09:23.040 He increased woman's age,
00:09:26.000 legal age of getting married
00:09:27.560 to 15 because it used to be 13.
00:09:30.320 And by the way,
00:09:30.860 I think today it's back down to 13.
00:09:33.100 And even some men can go petition
00:09:34.860 to even marry younger than 13.
00:09:37.420 He raised it to 15.
00:09:38.660 So, you're looking at
00:09:40.020 some of this stuff
00:09:40.560 and people are saying,
00:09:41.200 that really took place?
00:09:42.360 Yes, go do your own research.
00:09:43.820 You'll see it for yourself.
00:09:44.920 Obviously, Iran's personal income,
00:09:46.760 the citizens went up tremendously.
00:09:48.320 And oil revenue went
00:09:50.120 from 555 million in a year
00:09:53.340 to 20 billion in 1976.
00:09:57.220 So, you can see Iran's
00:09:58.840 becoming stronger
00:09:59.760 and stronger and stronger
00:10:00.980 with this white revolution
00:10:02.940 that he announced, right?
00:10:04.700 So, even though at this point
00:10:06.040 Shah's getting a lot of attention
00:10:07.120 because the economy's doing good,
00:10:08.220 people aren't making money,
00:10:09.460 there is still a community of people
00:10:11.460 that don't like what he's doing.
00:10:13.540 Extreme conservatives,
00:10:14.900 where why are women
00:10:15.980 getting so much power?
00:10:17.060 You know, why are they
00:10:18.060 taking down their scarf?
00:10:19.260 You know, the Rusadi.
00:10:20.340 Why are they taking it down?
00:10:21.340 I don't want that.
00:10:22.100 This is not what Iran's about.
00:10:23.600 We're becoming too American.
00:10:25.180 Our kids are losing control.
00:10:26.880 They're too free.
00:10:27.880 I don't want to see any discuss.
00:10:29.040 So, the spiritual leaders
00:10:30.200 were not too happy
00:10:30.900 about the Shah, right?
00:10:31.680 And the Shah had a,
00:10:32.840 his own method of secret service
00:10:34.440 called the Savak.
00:10:35.840 And the Savak sometimes
00:10:37.200 was pushing around
00:10:38.060 the Tudei party
00:10:39.440 and he had 3,000
00:10:40.540 political prisoners
00:10:41.480 that he was hanging on to.
00:10:43.160 And at this point,
00:10:44.100 the Shah is doing interviews
00:10:46.120 on TV
00:10:46.820 and he's coming across
00:10:48.360 a little bit too confident, okay?
00:10:50.160 And he's saying stuff
00:10:51.020 about blue-eyed people
00:10:52.540 and the brown-eyed people
00:10:53.900 are teaching the blue-eyed people stuff.
00:10:55.900 And you know,
00:10:56.360 all this stuff is taking place
00:10:57.640 because the blue-eyed people
00:10:58.800 are taking too many sleeping pills
00:11:00.740 and you know,
00:11:01.800 they're not really as focused
00:11:02.840 as we are.
00:11:03.660 And one day,
00:11:04.480 we're going to be
00:11:04.880 one of the most powerful nations
00:11:06.620 in the world,
00:11:07.340 top five,
00:11:07.920 passing possibly UK.
00:11:09.060 He's saying this in interviews
00:11:10.720 and you can tell
00:11:11.760 when you're looking at him,
00:11:12.960 he's a little bit proud
00:11:14.560 about what's going on
00:11:15.720 and maybe to the point
00:11:17.080 where it's rubbing certain people
00:11:18.480 the wrong way, right?
00:11:19.720 Is what he's doing.
00:11:20.740 So whenever you do that,
00:11:21.940 sometimes there's going
00:11:23.200 to be some people
00:11:23.880 that are secretly
00:11:25.180 creating a certain rising, right?
00:11:27.260 They're getting a little bit
00:11:27.940 upset with you
00:11:28.500 and they're not happy
00:11:29.040 about the kind of power you have.
00:11:30.620 So in 1978,
00:11:32.180 here's what happens.
00:11:33.700 While this is going on,
00:11:35.560 Jimmy Carter,
00:11:36.640 December 31st of 1977,
00:11:38.180 he comes
00:11:39.460 and they do a toast, okay?
00:11:41.520 Hey, Iran's
00:11:42.760 an incredible empire
00:11:43.860 and Jimmy Carter
00:11:44.560 says some nice words
00:11:45.560 about the Shah
00:11:46.660 with the toast.
00:11:47.940 Jimmy Carter leaves.
00:11:49.400 The moment he leaves,
00:11:51.040 slowly,
00:11:52.000 things start happening
00:11:52.720 in Iran.
00:11:53.640 And it gets started
00:11:54.700 with a Ayatollah Khomeini
00:11:57.780 who was in exile
00:11:59.320 for 14 years from Iran
00:12:01.120 and he first went to Iraq
00:12:03.380 and now he's living in France,
00:12:05.200 in Paris,
00:12:06.040 and he starts making tapes
00:12:08.160 and they record these tapes
00:12:10.200 and they bring it
00:12:11.060 underground to Iran
00:12:12.120 and they distribute it
00:12:13.360 to 10 people,
00:12:14.320 then 100 people,
00:12:15.420 then 1,000 people,
00:12:16.380 then 10.
00:12:16.940 Hey, go,
00:12:17.700 keep copying it,
00:12:19.260 keep copying it,
00:12:20.000 give it to people,
00:12:20.840 keep copying it,
00:12:21.480 give it to people
00:12:22.080 and it goes to 100,000.
00:12:23.660 Then all of a sudden,
00:12:24.540 millions.
00:12:25.260 Then suddenly,
00:12:26.460 an event takes place,
00:12:27.440 I believe August 20th, 1978,
00:12:30.620 in a city called Abadan.
00:12:32.100 Abadan was where the refineries
00:12:33.380 were at,
00:12:33.680 it's like a peninsula type
00:12:35.060 of a place,
00:12:36.020 really nice place
00:12:36.980 and they had a movie theater
00:12:37.940 called Sinama Rex.
00:12:39.140 The reason why I know
00:12:39.720 it's around August 20th,
00:12:41.040 around that time
00:12:41.640 is because I'm October 20th, 1978,
00:12:43.980 so I'm post Sinama Rex fire,
00:12:45.780 that's when I'm born.
00:12:46.980 So this theater
00:12:47.720 has 400 people there,
00:12:49.340 wives, mothers, kids, fathers,
00:12:51.860 they're watching movies
00:12:52.560 in Iran like movies
00:12:53.380 was a big deal
00:12:54.120 and everybody's at the movies.
00:12:55.760 It was always selling out,
00:12:57.420 they're at the movies.
00:12:58.800 So somebody comes
00:13:00.880 and closes the door,
00:13:01.840 locks it,
00:13:02.920 puts the place on fire,
00:13:04.480 400 innocent people
00:13:06.000 died that night.
00:13:06.840 Across the street
00:13:07.400 is a police station,
00:13:08.180 by the way.
00:13:09.120 So Khomeini and his people
00:13:11.660 blamed Savak
00:13:13.000 for doing it,
00:13:14.400 which is Shah's secret service.
00:13:17.020 The Shah's people are like,
00:13:17.920 we didn't do this.
00:13:19.200 And they're blaming it
00:13:20.100 on Khomeini's people
00:13:21.040 to create a blame.
00:13:22.460 Now no one until today
00:13:23.700 can 100% say
00:13:25.220 whether it's Savak
00:13:26.420 or whether it's Khomeini's people.
00:13:28.260 But all we know
00:13:28.860 is this took place.
00:13:29.980 And the group
00:13:30.540 that was able to get
00:13:31.500 the most mileage out of this
00:13:32.780 wasn't Shah,
00:13:33.640 it was Khomeini.
00:13:34.740 And all of a sudden
00:13:35.640 there was an uprising.
00:13:37.300 He's killing innocent people,
00:13:38.900 he's now worth a billion dollars,
00:13:40.260 he's so powerful.
00:13:41.440 And Shah's like,
00:13:42.020 what do I do about this?
00:13:42.840 He calls the U.S.
00:13:43.480 Oh, don't worry about it.
00:13:44.660 Kids say,
00:13:44.980 hey, don't worry about it,
00:13:45.740 it's okay,
00:13:46.140 nothing's a big deal,
00:13:47.180 I need help,
00:13:47.820 it's nothing.
00:13:48.280 And then all of a sudden
00:13:48.880 it was too late.
00:13:49.860 Way too late.
00:13:50.940 By that time,
00:13:52.420 Jimmy Carter calls him
00:13:53.440 and says,
00:13:54.100 I think you need to leave
00:13:54.860 your country.
00:13:55.780 And what does Shah do?
00:13:56.760 January 16th,
00:13:58.000 Shah and his family
00:13:58.660 leave Iran.
00:13:59.580 And they leave,
00:14:00.400 completely leave Iran.
00:14:01.860 And a couple weeks after that,
00:14:03.380 on February 1st,
00:14:06.400 Khomeini shows back up to Iran,
00:14:08.220 first time in 14 years.
00:14:09.680 And when he shows up,
00:14:10.620 he lands at the airport,
00:14:12.400 they had to move
00:14:13.300 because people couldn't
00:14:14.360 even let this guy get out.
00:14:15.820 And by the way,
00:14:16.280 my family,
00:14:17.380 I had a group of people
00:14:18.400 in my family
00:14:18.940 that were so glad
00:14:19.840 the Shah was done
00:14:20.620 because no man
00:14:21.900 should be worth
00:14:22.440 a billion dollars.
00:14:23.500 And the Shah was rich
00:14:24.260 at that time.
00:14:25.040 No man should be worth
00:14:26.080 a billion dollars.
00:14:26.880 He lives in 10 different castles.
00:14:28.640 Why should somebody
00:14:29.340 be as rich as this man?
00:14:30.560 And look at the celebration
00:14:31.620 he put for the 2,500 years
00:14:33.200 of Pahlavi
00:14:34.100 and spent all this money
00:14:35.300 for Iran
00:14:35.960 and prestige and fame.
00:14:37.540 It was like a party
00:14:38.360 and it was the country's money.
00:14:40.000 Why should he do
00:14:40.560 something like that?
00:14:41.120 It was an uproar.
00:14:41.720 People were not happy about it.
00:14:43.100 Anyways, Khomeini shows up.
00:14:44.680 When Khomeini shows up,
00:14:46.000 immediately he gets rid
00:14:47.040 of a lot of the internal military.
00:14:48.680 A lot of people get killed.
00:14:49.860 A lot of people get killed.
00:14:51.080 They were trying to run away.
00:14:51.860 A lot of Shah's general
00:14:53.420 get killed.
00:14:54.000 You can see a list of them
00:14:54.880 that get killed.
00:14:56.060 Anyways, fast forward.
00:14:57.840 November 79,
00:14:59.160 you got 52 hostages
00:15:00.520 that get taken
00:15:01.440 under Khomeini
00:15:02.240 from U.S.
00:15:03.280 U.S. hostages
00:15:04.200 are kept.
00:15:05.080 1979, November.
00:15:06.680 Then in 1980,
00:15:07.920 Shah dies
00:15:08.560 in Egypt
00:15:09.160 of cancer.
00:15:09.980 1980 to 1988,
00:15:11.640 war starts
00:15:12.180 between Iran and Iraq.
00:15:13.580 I lived,
00:15:14.140 when this war happened,
00:15:15.320 in Tehran, Iran.
00:15:16.640 That's why
00:15:17.020 I never forget
00:15:18.620 us getting bombed
00:15:19.380 167 times in a day.
00:15:21.180 I never forget
00:15:21.840 the whistling sound.
00:15:23.000 Our glass windows,
00:15:24.000 all of them
00:15:24.400 were taped up
00:15:25.000 with X's.
00:15:26.220 Okay?
00:15:26.440 Imagine two X's
00:15:27.820 like this.
00:15:28.580 They were all taped up
00:15:29.160 because when blasts
00:15:30.080 would drop,
00:15:31.020 our glass broke many times.
00:15:32.400 When a blast would drop,
00:15:33.940 you didn't want the glass
00:15:35.020 to shatter everywhere.
00:15:36.180 You want it to drop
00:15:36.880 right there
00:15:37.260 so your kids,
00:15:38.160 you don't get all this
00:15:38.840 cuts and all this stuff.
00:15:40.140 Every window,
00:15:40.760 imagine all your windows
00:15:41.540 have tapes like that.
00:15:42.280 That's what our windows
00:15:42.820 look like.
00:15:43.600 My dad would come
00:15:44.160 with black tape
00:15:44.780 and it would tape
00:15:45.700 everything up, right?
00:15:46.700 No one's trying
00:15:47.300 to be pretty.
00:15:47.920 At this point,
00:15:48.360 there's war going on
00:15:49.140 and you would hear
00:15:49.620 all these,
00:15:50.260 Tabajo, Tabajo,
00:15:51.340 Al-Ahmat-e-Khermiz,
00:15:52.660 you know,
00:15:52.960 the fact that a plane
00:15:53.760 has crossed our borders.
00:15:55.220 So that goes for eight years.
00:15:56.600 1.5 million lives.
00:15:58.300 By the way,
00:15:58.620 you know who supported Iraq?
00:16:00.120 U.S. did.
00:16:01.460 U.S. supported Iraq
00:16:03.360 going against Iran.
00:16:04.640 Why?
00:16:05.420 U.S. was funding
00:16:06.740 and helping out
00:16:07.620 Saddam Hussein.
00:16:08.700 They weren't helping
00:16:09.300 Khomeini out at this time.
00:16:10.960 And in 1981,
00:16:12.060 January 20th,
00:16:13.460 Reagan gets elected.
00:16:14.320 The day he gets elected,
00:16:15.800 they release the 52 hostages
00:16:17.180 and they come to U.S.
00:16:18.240 Khomeini said,
00:16:18.700 hey, you know what?
00:16:19.160 I think this guy's
00:16:19.700 going to go to war with us.
00:16:21.000 Let's just release.
00:16:21.840 So he wasn't afraid.
00:16:23.180 The way he behaved,
00:16:24.420 Khomeini was not afraid
00:16:25.480 of Carter,
00:16:26.160 but he was afraid of Reagan.
00:16:27.820 He said,
00:16:28.100 I think Reagan's
00:16:28.660 going to do something to us.
00:16:29.920 I don't think Carter's
00:16:30.640 going to do anything
00:16:31.140 because he's too nice
00:16:31.720 of a guy.
00:16:32.620 Nobody was afraid
00:16:33.340 of Carter in Iran,
00:16:34.220 but they were afraid
00:16:35.000 of Reagan.
00:16:35.500 That's the movement
00:16:36.080 when you look at that.
00:16:37.320 88,
00:16:38.340 Iran's Airbus plane
00:16:40.060 gets shot down
00:16:41.500 by U.S.
00:16:43.220 ship.
00:16:44.080 And they said
00:16:44.600 it was an accident,
00:16:46.020 but it cost
00:16:46.600 290 people's lives,
00:16:48.860 innocent,
00:16:49.920 66 were children.
00:16:52.200 That,
00:16:52.840 I mean,
00:16:53.220 if it happens
00:16:53.880 to your country,
00:16:54.660 you're going to say
00:16:55.120 it's an accident.
00:16:56.140 You're not going to believe it.
00:16:57.020 So,
00:16:57.640 Iran is,
00:16:58.620 U.S. is saying
00:16:59.340 it was an accident,
00:17:00.120 we're sorry.
00:17:01.080 Iran's saying,
00:17:01.560 what do you mean
00:17:01.820 you're sorry?
00:17:03.360 290 people,
00:17:04.180 you're sorry.
00:17:05.200 66 kids,
00:17:06.300 what sorry?
00:17:07.320 These are not military,
00:17:08.620 this is not a war,
00:17:09.520 you didn't bomb a place,
00:17:10.840 you shot down
00:17:11.580 one of our planes.
00:17:12.600 So,
00:17:12.820 that's a conflict.
00:17:13.400 Again,
00:17:13.540 still today,
00:17:14.000 no one really knows
00:17:14.660 100%
00:17:15.280 whether it was an accident
00:17:16.640 or intentional.
00:17:17.700 Then in 1995,
00:17:18.840 Clinton puts all these
00:17:20.040 sanctions on them.
00:17:21.220 1995.
00:17:22.740 2003,
00:17:23.540 Iran suspends
00:17:24.840 their uranium
00:17:25.860 enrichment project
00:17:27.380 that they had.
00:17:28.340 Okay,
00:17:28.640 no problem.
00:17:29.420 We're willing to agree
00:17:30.420 to this
00:17:30.840 because they wanted
00:17:31.680 to go back and forth,
00:17:32.860 negotiate,
00:17:33.380 they want to export oil again.
00:17:34.620 Hey,
00:17:34.760 we got to sell this stuff
00:17:35.640 because our country
00:17:36.580 has got to stay put.
00:17:37.820 And in 2006 to 2010,
00:17:40.060 U.S. succeeds
00:17:40.700 with four rounds
00:17:41.620 of sanctions
00:17:42.400 against Iran.
00:17:44.180 Stop enriching uranium,
00:17:45.600 stop exporting weapons,
00:17:48.420 you know,
00:17:48.780 banking restrictions
00:17:50.080 and trade
00:17:50.880 and travel restrictions.
00:17:52.700 This is to Iran.
00:17:53.580 Four of them.
00:17:54.320 So,
00:17:54.500 things are tough.
00:17:55.020 So,
00:17:55.200 Iran's used to all this stuff
00:17:56.660 over the last two decades
00:17:57.640 because it constantly
00:17:58.580 happens to them.
00:17:59.940 2012,
00:18:00.520 Iran's currency
00:18:01.300 loses 80% to the dollar.
00:18:03.500 It's the record lowest
00:18:04.300 they ever experienced.
00:18:05.460 That was just seven years ago,
00:18:06.400 by the way.
00:18:07.000 And then outside of that,
00:18:07.900 Obama strikes the deal
00:18:08.860 with John Kerry
00:18:10.320 and Joe Biden
00:18:11.740 where they give around
00:18:12.580 $150 billion.
00:18:14.000 Some say it's $50 billion
00:18:14.960 and some say it was only
00:18:16.400 $1.8 billion in cash.
00:18:18.000 But regardless,
00:18:18.680 they strike a deal
00:18:19.440 with hopes
00:18:20.200 of them no longer creating
00:18:21.980 the uranium nuclear bombs.
00:18:23.980 And in 2018,
00:18:25.560 Trump comes and he says,
00:18:26.440 nope,
00:18:27.200 I am not going to do that deal.
00:18:29.060 He withdraws from the deal
00:18:30.180 with Iran
00:18:30.640 and then a couple months later
00:18:32.040 after that,
00:18:32.780 boom,
00:18:33.060 new sanctions.
00:18:33.900 And Iran's sitting there saying,
00:18:35.000 wait a minute,
00:18:35.400 what's going on over here?
00:18:36.480 And then Iran's experiencing this.
00:18:38.140 Okay?
00:18:38.300 So this is a bit of backstory
00:18:41.440 of what's going on.
00:18:42.300 Now,
00:18:43.000 let's talk presidency.
00:18:44.760 Does it match
00:18:45.900 what happens
00:18:46.580 with certain presidents?
00:18:47.620 So,
00:18:48.180 when Mohammed Reza Pahlavi
00:18:49.740 was president
00:18:50.300 from 41 to 79,
00:18:51.960 this is during FDR,
00:18:53.100 Truman,
00:18:53.440 Eisenhower,
00:18:53.920 Kennedy,
00:18:54.280 LBJ,
00:18:54.720 Nixon,
00:18:55.760 Ford,
00:18:56.100 and Carter.
00:18:56.600 Keep this in mind.
00:18:57.620 He got along
00:18:58.460 with Eisenhower.
00:18:59.860 He got along
00:19:00.860 with Nixon.
00:19:02.080 He got along
00:19:02.800 with Ford.
00:19:03.580 He didn't get along
00:19:04.280 with Carter
00:19:04.880 and JFK
00:19:05.920 wasn't a fan of him
00:19:06.760 and LBJ
00:19:07.440 wasn't a fan of him.
00:19:08.560 So he was kind of like
00:19:09.480 going back and forth
00:19:10.200 trying to figure out,
00:19:11.240 so Eisenhower liked him,
00:19:12.800 Nixon liked him,
00:19:14.000 you know,
00:19:14.240 certain Republican presidents
00:19:15.400 liked him,
00:19:15.840 but Democratic presidents
00:19:16.760 didn't like him.
00:19:17.820 So,
00:19:18.060 you know,
00:19:18.580 it was a battle.
00:19:19.640 When one president would come,
00:19:20.860 he could strike a deal.
00:19:22.080 When the other president would come,
00:19:23.280 he couldn't do any kind of a deal.
00:19:24.400 So it's important to know that.
00:19:25.920 And then after that,
00:19:27.060 you know,
00:19:27.340 Khomeini shows up
00:19:28.100 79 to 89
00:19:29.100 with Khomeini
00:19:30.200 being the president of Iran.
00:19:32.960 And then after that,
00:19:34.360 then you have
00:19:34.820 Rafsanjani
00:19:35.400 from 89 to 97.
00:19:36.700 Then you have Khatami
00:19:37.400 from 97 to 05.
00:19:40.020 Then Ahmed Nadejad
00:19:41.180 is from 2005 to 2013.
00:19:43.240 And then Iran's current president
00:19:44.320 is Hassan Rouhani
00:19:45.340 who's been president
00:19:46.260 since 2013 to present.
00:19:47.700 By the way,
00:19:48.520 the supreme leader
00:19:49.380 went from being Khomeini
00:19:50.760 to then being Khamenei.
00:19:52.600 Here's the one thing
00:19:53.100 you've got to know
00:19:53.480 about Khamenei.
00:19:54.460 While Shah
00:19:55.400 was ruling Iran
00:19:57.560 from 41 to 79,
00:19:59.360 a lot of people
00:20:00.100 complained about the fact
00:20:01.080 that the Shah
00:20:01.480 was worth $1 billion.
00:20:02.580 According to Reuters,
00:20:03.980 Reuters,
00:20:05.240 Khomeini,
00:20:06.460 the current supreme leader
00:20:07.660 for nearly 30 years,
00:20:09.340 I want to say
00:20:09.760 since 89,
00:20:11.300 Khomeini,
00:20:12.540 according to Reuters,
00:20:14.100 is worth
00:20:14.540 a minimum
00:20:15.180 of $95 billion.
00:20:18.880 And no one knows
00:20:20.360 how he's worth
00:20:21.000 $95 billion.
00:20:21.800 A lot of people
00:20:22.260 are saying
00:20:22.520 he took the money
00:20:23.100 from the Iranian people,
00:20:24.840 from the government,
00:20:25.920 and no one
00:20:26.280 could figure it out
00:20:26.880 because Khomeini
00:20:28.180 was all about God
00:20:30.360 and Khomeini
00:20:31.120 was a little bit
00:20:32.120 about business.
00:20:32.920 Khomeini
00:20:33.160 was more business.
00:20:34.240 Khomeini
00:20:34.480 was more about,
00:20:35.660 hey,
00:20:35.840 I love Iran.
00:20:36.580 I want to be able
00:20:37.040 to do something.
00:20:37.640 Khomeini was a little bit
00:20:38.500 more the business guy.
00:20:39.240 But those are some
00:20:39.820 of the numbers
00:20:40.200 you need to keep in mind
00:20:40.920 about what's going on
00:20:41.540 with Iran.
00:20:42.000 Iran's got a lot of money.
00:20:43.260 Khomeini's family
00:20:43.940 and himself
00:20:44.660 got very wealthy.
00:20:45.300 Again,
00:20:45.480 you can go verify this stuff
00:20:46.540 and look it up for yourself.
00:20:47.760 So you've got to keep
00:20:48.420 this in mind.
00:20:48.760 A lot of people ask,
00:20:49.380 is this ever going
00:20:49.960 to stop, Pat?
00:20:50.560 And my answer is,
00:20:51.260 I don't think it's
00:20:51.880 going to ever stop.
00:20:52.680 Why?
00:20:53.360 Here's why.
00:20:54.460 The more conflicts
00:20:55.740 in the Middle East,
00:20:56.900 the more control.
00:20:58.120 Who?
00:20:58.920 U.S., U.K.,
00:20:59.820 the bigger empires.
00:21:01.180 The more conflict
00:21:02.020 in the Middle East,
00:21:03.040 the more control.
00:21:04.200 The less conflict,
00:21:05.660 the more powerful
00:21:06.280 they're becoming.
00:21:07.460 Iran from 63 to 78,
00:21:10.280 they were growing steadily.
00:21:11.580 They became a superpower
00:21:12.420 in the Middle East.
00:21:13.840 Everything was at peace.
00:21:15.600 They're creating
00:21:16.100 their own oil.
00:21:17.180 They're creating
00:21:17.760 their own commerce.
00:21:18.500 They're creating
00:21:18.900 their own military.
00:21:19.540 Hey, hey, hey.
00:21:20.240 Why is Iran getting
00:21:21.340 a little too powerful?
00:21:22.320 We can't let that happen.
00:21:23.420 Hey, coup.
00:21:24.460 Give another coup.
00:21:25.260 Here's a formula for a coup.
00:21:26.460 Do another one.
00:21:27.200 Do another one.
00:21:27.740 Do another one.
00:21:28.280 And typically,
00:21:29.000 coups are caused
00:21:29.880 by the following formula.
00:21:31.540 Not all the time,
00:21:32.720 but many times.
00:21:33.540 This is how it takes place.
00:21:34.620 When a Republican president
00:21:36.000 is a president in the U.S.,
00:21:39.240 and somebody who's running Iran
00:21:41.540 is pro-Israel,
00:21:42.420 pro-business,
00:21:43.700 pro-America,
00:21:44.460 it's peace.
00:21:45.120 No issues.
00:21:46.000 Okay?
00:21:46.760 Eisenhower, Shaw.
00:21:48.120 Nixon, Shaw.
00:21:48.960 Ford, Shaw.
00:21:49.680 No issues.
00:21:50.320 We're good to go.
00:21:51.340 When a Democratic president
00:21:52.800 is president of the United States,
00:21:55.540 and in Iran,
00:21:57.280 they somewhat have
00:21:58.420 a little bit of conflict
00:21:59.320 with Israel.
00:22:00.380 They're not fully pro-business.
00:22:02.560 They're not fully pro-U.S.
00:22:04.140 There's no conflict.
00:22:05.300 But when a Democratic president
00:22:07.020 is in the U.S.
00:22:09.080 as a Democrat,
00:22:09.740 and Iran is being led
00:22:11.160 by somebody who is pro-Israel,
00:22:12.620 pro-U.S.,
00:22:13.580 pro-Western,
00:22:14.360 pro-capitalism,
00:22:15.380 then there could be
00:22:15.940 possible war.
00:22:17.160 And when there's a Republican president
00:22:18.500 and it's the complete opposite,
00:22:20.140 it's also possible war.
00:22:21.140 Now, this war is not a war.
00:22:22.260 Let's go, you know,
00:22:23.860 jets, fly and bomb.
00:22:25.680 No.
00:22:25.960 War could be a,
00:22:26.920 you know,
00:22:27.180 right now,
00:22:27.580 Iran's calling this
00:22:28.340 an economic terrorism.
00:22:29.760 Okay?
00:22:30.240 Hey, they're hurting us economically,
00:22:31.660 is what they're saying.
00:22:32.660 This is economic terrorism.
00:22:34.060 It doesn't necessarily have to.
00:22:35.160 Because sanctions,
00:22:36.000 I can't make money.
00:22:37.040 If I can make money
00:22:37.920 and China, India,
00:22:38.620 all these countries
00:22:39.120 are no longer buying from me,
00:22:40.280 what am I going to do now?
00:22:41.540 And this is why I put Venezuela,
00:22:43.200 because Iran and Venezuela
00:22:44.440 are facing similar problems.
00:22:46.660 Sanctions, sanctions.
00:22:47.800 This is why Iran and Venezuela,
00:22:49.120 they get along.
00:22:50.040 Because they understand each other.
00:22:52.140 And they say,
00:22:52.580 we understand your pain.
00:22:54.020 U.S. is kind of bullying you.
00:22:55.300 You're also an oil country.
00:22:56.340 Used to be one of the riches.
00:22:57.540 Look at the sanctions.
00:22:58.840 And Iran's,
00:22:59.340 yeah, us too.
00:23:00.340 Yeah, so there's a little bit
00:23:01.600 of that going on there
00:23:02.300 that they get along with.
00:23:03.080 And Saudi Arabia doesn't want
00:23:04.240 to see Iran be up there.
00:23:05.700 Why?
00:23:05.880 Because they want to compete
00:23:06.660 in the oil
00:23:07.060 and they want to have a monopoly there.
00:23:08.620 They want to compete
00:23:09.120 in that marketplace, right?
00:23:10.020 And obviously,
00:23:10.460 last but not least,
00:23:11.440 Israel is not a fan of Iran.
00:23:14.380 Because, you know,
00:23:15.060 the whole thing, again,
00:23:15.860 an enemy of an enemy
00:23:16.600 is a friend.
00:23:17.080 So, all of those things
00:23:18.440 taking place.
00:23:19.120 So, last but not least,
00:23:19.800 this bullying thing
00:23:20.460 that's taking place
00:23:21.120 with superpowers.
00:23:22.200 Very simple formula
00:23:23.260 to bully a country like Iran.
00:23:25.180 Very simple formula.
00:23:26.320 Number one,
00:23:27.280 is create sanctions
00:23:28.800 with strong requests.
00:23:31.860 Strong sanctions.
00:23:33.480 Very strong sanctions.
00:23:35.020 You tie them up.
00:23:36.400 Now, I was in,
00:23:38.060 where was I at?
00:23:38.820 I was at Cannes, France.
00:23:41.320 I was staying at Monaco
00:23:42.560 and I went to Cannes
00:23:43.420 and I'm in the beach
00:23:44.680 and I'm talking to,
00:23:45.800 I can't say the name,
00:23:47.380 but I can just tell you
00:23:48.620 a very high profile
00:23:49.880 political leader
00:23:50.900 in the Middle East
00:23:52.400 that is running 21 countries.
00:23:55.080 Financially.
00:23:56.160 That's all I can tell you
00:23:57.100 who this person is.
00:23:58.120 And we're having
00:23:58.580 an hour and a half
00:23:59.000 conversation together.
00:23:59.860 And he tells me,
00:24:02.020 he says,
00:24:02.200 look,
00:24:02.880 I have a lot of allies in Iran.
00:24:04.260 I got a lot of friends in Iran.
00:24:05.820 He says,
00:24:06.420 but I'm from
00:24:07.320 one of the countries
00:24:08.540 in the Middle East.
00:24:09.400 He says,
00:24:09.740 Pat,
00:24:10.060 I can't do nothing
00:24:11.360 with them.
00:24:12.700 We had to cut
00:24:13.360 every business,
00:24:14.140 ties,
00:24:14.540 everything.
00:24:15.720 Lending,
00:24:16.320 everything because of
00:24:17.300 what U.S. said.
00:24:18.120 Because if we're on
00:24:18.860 the bad side of U.S.,
00:24:20.260 then a lot of the
00:24:21.080 relationships we have
00:24:22.180 have to go through U.S.
00:24:23.560 because everybody
00:24:24.140 wants to be good
00:24:24.640 with the U.S.
00:24:25.560 So the moment
00:24:26.220 they had the sanctions,
00:24:27.480 Iran felt it immediately.
00:24:29.100 Immediately.
00:24:29.720 Number two,
00:24:30.580 formula to bully,
00:24:31.900 is befriend
00:24:32.980 and support
00:24:34.040 their number one enemy.
00:24:35.600 So what happens?
00:24:36.980 Carter leaves,
00:24:38.260 Khomeini's in Iran,
00:24:39.540 U.S. supports who?
00:24:40.720 U.S. supports Iraq,
00:24:42.500 Saddam Hussein.
00:24:43.140 Why?
00:24:43.920 Because,
00:24:44.640 remember,
00:24:45.420 the president,
00:24:46.640 the ruler of Iran,
00:24:47.600 Khomeini,
00:24:47.900 at that time,
00:24:48.380 was anti-U.S.,
00:24:49.760 anti-Israel,
00:24:51.140 and the president of U.S.
00:24:52.140 at that time was Reagan,
00:24:53.620 pro-U.S.
00:24:54.540 Hey,
00:24:54.860 this is happening?
00:24:55.780 No problem.
00:24:56.420 We're going to befriend
00:24:57.040 your who?
00:24:57.840 We're going to befriend
00:24:58.500 your enemy,
00:24:59.000 which is Saddam Hussein.
00:25:00.060 And one and a half million
00:25:00.800 people get killed.
00:25:01.800 So that's the part
00:25:02.680 about befriending the enemy.
00:25:03.960 Number three,
00:25:04.780 infiltrate the nation
00:25:05.780 with opposition.
00:25:07.100 Internally.
00:25:07.940 Send people internally
00:25:08.920 to create opposition
00:25:10.160 internally.
00:25:10.760 And last but not least,
00:25:11.440 a very simple formula
00:25:13.520 that's used for a very,
00:25:14.780 very long time.
00:25:15.780 Create an internal division.
00:25:17.600 When you create
00:25:18.140 an internal division,
00:25:19.320 it's very simple.
00:25:20.240 They did it with the Shah.
00:25:21.340 Pinned the people
00:25:21.840 against the Shah.
00:25:22.480 For what?
00:25:23.160 Everybody's creating jobs.
00:25:24.400 People are making money.
00:25:25.080 Why?
00:25:25.780 If you ever go study
00:25:27.220 different revolutions,
00:25:28.380 the one thing
00:25:29.000 that you'll notice
00:25:29.560 about the Iranian revolution
00:25:30.620 against all the other revolutions,
00:25:32.280 French revolution,
00:25:33.080 all the other revolutions,
00:25:34.040 there's four things
00:25:34.620 all the revolutions
00:25:35.200 have in common.
00:25:36.220 None of those four
00:25:37.000 were happening in Iran.
00:25:38.580 None of them with the Shah.
00:25:39.540 Why did it take place?
00:25:41.220 The word spreading
00:25:42.780 this campaign message
00:25:44.140 has so much influence.
00:25:46.020 And again,
00:25:46.420 it started with Carter,
00:25:47.840 UK, US, CIA, MI6,
00:25:50.460 US, UK again.
00:25:51.500 Let's divide Iran.
00:25:52.620 And this is the formula
00:25:53.640 that what history tells us.
00:25:55.160 So, look, in closing,
00:25:56.240 I want to share
00:25:56.600 my final thoughts,
00:25:57.360 hopefully to the people in Iran.
00:25:58.500 We got a lot of
00:25:58.920 valutators in Iran
00:25:59.600 and even other folks
00:26:00.880 around the world
00:26:01.360 that are here.
00:26:02.120 This is what I would tell you.
00:26:03.180 Today, I had a former FBI agent
00:26:05.060 who retired two years ago.
00:26:06.100 30 years, FBI agent undercover.
00:26:08.060 He worked with Russian mafia,
00:26:10.300 three La Cosa Nostra families.
00:26:12.180 He worked with Sinaloa cartel.
00:26:14.060 He worked undercover
00:26:14.760 on a lot of different projects,
00:26:15.980 right?
00:26:16.180 Very decorated.
00:26:17.020 Sylvester Stallone's doing
00:26:17.840 a movie on his book
00:26:18.480 that just came out.
00:26:19.740 He and I are sitting here
00:26:20.560 in our office.
00:26:21.100 We're talking.
00:26:21.580 And it gets a little heated
00:26:22.540 at one point.
00:26:23.260 I said, listen,
00:26:24.240 you know,
00:26:24.440 what's this whole story
00:26:25.180 with Apple?
00:26:26.380 You know,
00:26:27.000 government telling Apple
00:26:28.080 you should give us
00:26:28.780 all the access
00:26:29.260 to the information
00:26:29.880 because if a terrorist
00:26:31.160 uses the phone,
00:26:31.700 we need to know
00:26:32.100 this kind of stuff.
00:26:33.180 You know,
00:26:33.440 and FBI is going
00:26:34.700 to the DMV
00:26:35.300 to get all these pictures,
00:26:36.280 ID to track citizens.
00:26:37.240 What's this all about?
00:26:38.040 This never got approved.
00:26:39.080 And he says, look,
00:26:40.060 I'm not telling you
00:26:40.860 they're doing the right thing
00:26:41.620 or the wrong thing,
00:26:42.240 but here's what I can tell you.
00:26:43.620 He says,
00:26:44.040 technology is outpacing
00:26:45.900 and out advancing our laws.
00:26:48.460 The laws that we have today
00:26:50.020 were written 60 years ago.
00:26:52.160 The laws are not adjusted
00:26:53.680 to today's times and speed.
00:26:55.540 We have to understand
00:26:56.540 that speed is so fast
00:26:57.820 that the laws
00:26:58.820 have to be adjusted
00:26:59.780 because the crisis
00:27:00.960 is no longer a nuclear war.
00:27:02.600 It's a cybersecurity war
00:27:04.320 and we have to be prepared
00:27:05.440 for that.
00:27:05.740 And I'm not saying
00:27:06.200 it's right or wrong.
00:27:06.800 And I sat there
00:27:07.640 and I said,
00:27:07.920 you know what?
00:27:08.060 That's a pretty interesting
00:27:08.700 thing to say
00:27:09.240 to the Iranian people.
00:27:10.420 Watch this.
00:27:11.620 A lot of Iranians' principles
00:27:13.380 worked pre-social media,
00:27:16.760 pre-internet.
00:27:17.800 A lot of it worked.
00:27:19.140 Iran has to figure out
00:27:20.440 who they want to be.
00:27:21.320 Look,
00:27:21.900 a lot of women in Iran
00:27:23.040 look at women in the U.S.
00:27:24.040 and they're like,
00:27:24.440 wait a minute.
00:27:25.440 Was there really a billionaire,
00:27:27.040 youngest billionaire,
00:27:27.800 20 years old,
00:27:28.360 21 years old,
00:27:28.980 she's worth a billion dollars
00:27:29.900 running a company?
00:27:31.020 Is that really happening?
00:27:32.340 Are women really running
00:27:33.640 multiple businesses?
00:27:34.680 And everywhere you look at,
00:27:36.360 they're being,
00:27:36.980 how come we don't have that
00:27:38.000 in Iran?
00:27:38.540 They're thinking that.
00:27:39.800 An opportunity to become
00:27:40.800 an entrepreneur.
00:27:41.620 Are you kidding me?
00:27:42.820 Barack Obama's a president,
00:27:44.420 now a former apprentice.
00:27:46.460 He's a president.
00:27:47.240 I want those kinds of
00:27:48.120 opportunities as well in Iran.
00:27:49.240 So either those talents
00:27:50.740 are going to be inspired
00:27:51.480 to leave and come to America,
00:27:52.560 just like my family
00:27:53.340 and many Iranians
00:27:54.120 came over here,
00:27:54.940 or Iran's got to kind of
00:27:56.160 adjust and say,
00:27:56.680 look,
00:27:57.200 what do we want to do?
00:27:58.200 What direction do we want to go?
00:27:59.520 What principles are working
00:28:00.620 and adapt?
00:28:01.200 Because the same old principles
00:28:02.960 in today's times
00:28:03.760 and today's speed,
00:28:04.800 today's technology,
00:28:05.640 today's social media
00:28:06.400 are going to constantly
00:28:07.540 get pushed back
00:28:08.580 and then eventually
00:28:09.140 you're going to have to face
00:28:09.760 with some kind of bullies
00:28:10.620 here very soon.
00:28:11.640 So it's like a guy
00:28:13.500 who is 5'6",
00:28:14.960 128 pounds,
00:28:16.640 fighting a guy
00:28:17.280 that's 6'5",
00:28:18.340 280 pounds,
00:28:19.860 black belt,
00:28:20.620 six degree,
00:28:21.780 jiu-jitsu trained,
00:28:22.660 UFC.
00:28:23.520 It's not a fight.
00:28:24.560 And sometimes like Rouhani,
00:28:25.820 the president recently
00:28:26.860 in front of a congregation
00:28:27.760 gets up and he says,
00:28:29.160 when we say death upon America,
00:28:30.880 we're not saying death
00:28:31.900 upon the American people,
00:28:33.340 we're saying death upon Trump
00:28:35.280 and John Bolton
00:28:36.560 and the leaders of America.
00:28:38.140 That's really what we're saying.
00:28:39.620 And people are like,
00:28:40.140 oh, okay.
00:28:41.120 What do you mean,
00:28:41.740 oh, okay?
00:28:42.720 It's still death upon
00:28:43.840 the president of the United States
00:28:45.360 that you're talking about
00:28:46.200 in a speech publicly recorded
00:28:48.000 being shown all over
00:28:48.700 the news nationwide.
00:28:49.700 So Iran has to also
00:28:50.880 pick their fights
00:28:51.800 and know some of these allies
00:28:53.360 have the right relationship
00:28:54.420 that you need
00:28:54.900 for these other countries
00:28:55.660 to do business with you.
00:28:56.560 So I hope Iran
00:28:58.080 is going to kind of
00:28:59.600 make the right maneuvers
00:29:00.760 long term,
00:29:01.400 not just right now
00:29:02.180 based on,
00:29:02.700 hey, nobody can push us around.
00:29:04.180 Again,
00:29:04.840 I'm giving you my thoughts.
00:29:06.420 Thanks everybody for listening
00:29:07.680 and by the way,
