00:00:00.000 The market pays premium, top dollar, for those who are irreplaceable. 1.00
00:00:27.420 What does irreplaceable really mean?
00:00:29.340 Look, with 2020 being around the corner, one of the things you've got to be thinking about
00:00:32.380 is the fact that what are you going to be doing to increase your market value, your market
00:00:36.060 value?
00:00:37.060 I'm in Miami yesterday, and I'm speaking to a group of people.
00:00:40.060 One guy says, Pat, I want to find a way to increase my market value.
00:00:42.660 I said, here's what you've got to be thinking about.
00:00:44.860 What's that?
00:00:46.020 If you are in the market, and you're constantly leaning on someone to give you a lead, someone
00:00:52.800 to hand you what to do to go out there and make a sale, and you don't know how to self-generate
00:00:58.700 it.
00:00:59.700 Your market goes down.
00:01:00.700 What does this mean?
00:01:01.700 If you work for a real estate company, and that real estate company gives you leads, it
00:01:04.900 may sound warm and fuzzy.
00:01:06.860 It may sound like a good proposition, but long term, they control you.
00:01:11.380 You're no different than being an employee who on one day, they don't like you.
00:01:14.800 They can start giving you the bad leads and give the good leads to people that they like,
00:01:18.660 or the leads, period, become bad because it's gone through a lot of different people.
00:01:22.640 But if you learn how to generate your own leads, you become irreplaceable.
00:01:27.220 There are many, many different ways to make yourself irreplaceable.
00:01:29.760 That's one of the ways.
00:01:30.760 Let me give you a story here.
00:01:31.760 Jersey call.
00:01:32.760 I read a book about what happened to Monterey Bay with seagulls in Monterey Bay.
00:01:38.020 This was a challenge they faced in Monterey Bay.
00:01:42.580 Monterey Bay was known for a lot of people that would go there fishing.
00:01:45.300 And the fishermen would go and they would fish.
00:01:47.880 After they were done fishing, they would cut up the fish.
00:01:49.640 They would prepare to sell it or to cook it and a lot of the leftovers would stay by
00:01:53.200 the bay and the seagulls would come and they would just eat the leftovers.
00:01:56.540 So what was good about that?
00:01:58.460 The seagulls didn't have to learn how to hunt.
00:02:00.920 What was the bad thing about that?
00:02:02.560 If the fishermen stopped fishing one day, those seagulls would no longer remember how
00:02:07.400 to hunt and they will probably not live too long.
00:02:11.240 So what happened?
00:02:12.240 Laws changed.
00:02:14.240 Once laws changed for fishing, the fishermen no longer came.
00:02:18.500 So what happened?
00:02:19.600 These seagulls are waiting for these fishermen.
00:02:21.160 I'm like, wait a minute.
00:02:22.160 I've been leaning on all these leads of fish left over here.
00:02:25.160 I've been eating all this stuff.
00:02:26.880 You guys are no longer here.
00:02:28.060 What am I going to be doing?
00:02:29.380 Then the city started noticing seagulls were dying.
00:02:31.600 What do you mean seagulls are dying?
00:02:34.100 What's the cause of seagulls dying?
00:02:35.720 We got to bring an expert to tell us what is taking place.
00:02:38.100 So they bring an expert.
00:02:39.620 And the expert starts going around looking at it, all this stuff.
00:02:42.140 And then finally says, listen, the reason why these guys are dying is because none of the seagulls
00:02:46.880 out there are going underwater and learning how to hunt for themselves.
00:02:51.440 They have forgotten how to self-generate their leads.
00:02:54.440 See these seagulls had become replaceable.
00:02:57.160 They were no longer irreplaceable.
00:02:59.320 So what do they do?
00:03:00.440 Well, the best way to do it, they went and found seagulls overseas who are professional
00:03:06.220 hunters who know how to hunt.
00:03:08.440 They brought those seagulls to Monterey Bay.
00:03:10.680 They let them free.
00:03:11.680 Those seagulls started hunting for themselves and catching all this fish themselves.
00:03:15.820 They're not relying on the fishermen.
00:03:17.000 A week, two weeks, three weeks later, the other seagulls that were dying, some of them
00:03:21.020 that survived, started picking up the habit because they're hanging around the right kind
00:03:24.380 of seagulls that know how to hunt for themselves.
00:03:26.440 And next thing you know, these seagulls started making it because they again learned that they
00:03:31.500 can hunt for themselves.
00:03:33.480 What is the message of the week for you this week?
00:03:35.760 Here's what it is.
00:03:37.080 If you rely on a source to give you leads, you're replaceable.
00:03:43.020 If you rely on a company, on an organization to constantly provide you leads, you're always
00:03:47.340 replaceable.
00:03:48.940 If you find a way to self-generate your own leads through whatever way you do it, if you
00:03:53.640 find a way to self-generate your own leads, where you control the leads.
00:03:58.700 You.
00:03:59.700 Your prospect.
00:04:00.700 Online.
00:04:01.700 Instagram.
00:04:02.700 Facebook.
00:04:03.700 Twitter.
00:04:04.700 LinkedIn.
00:04:05.700 YouTube.
00:04:06.700 Face-to-face.
00:04:07.700 Networking events.
00:04:08.700 The market value for you goes slowly but surely.
00:04:10.700 Higher and higher and higher and higher and higher.
00:04:11.700 Because you're no longer relying on a company, on an organization to provide you leads.
00:04:14.700 Because you know how to do it.
00:04:15.700 That company now officially needs you.
00:04:17.700 Versus the other way around.
00:04:18.700 You need the company because the company gives you leads.
00:04:20.700 Do you see that thought right there?
00:04:21.700 Do not be the seagull that just relies on that fish.
00:04:26.180 You know the leftovers on the side to go out there and feed themselves.
00:04:29.360 Be the other seagulls that know how to got their hunt for themselves. 0.83
00:04:32.960 And once you do that, you will never starve.
00:04:35.080 So in 2020, moving forward, now find ways to self-generate leads so you forever will be
00:04:43.100 irreplaceable and the market pays top dollar for your skill set of finding leads.
00:04:50.180 Having said that, looking forward to seeing you having a killer week this week.
