I believe there s never been a time in human history where we are more confused than we are today. If you wanted to today, you have more choices and options today than ever before on career, on religion, on politics, on social media, on dating, on what to consume, on marriage, on family life, on how to keep it all together, how to stay sane and not lose it, what s the difference between the 32-year-old Pat versus the 41-year old Pat?

00:00:00.000 I believe there's never ever been a time in human history where we are more confused than
00:00:26.720 we are today.
00:00:27.720 Let me say this one more time.
00:00:28.720 I believe there's never ever been a time in human history where people, you and I, are
00:00:34.400 as confused as we are today.
00:00:36.620 Let me explain to you why.
00:00:38.560 You see, if you were to go back a thousand years ago, and you and I are living in a family
00:00:42.520 where our father's a farmer, what do you think we're going to do when we grow up?
00:00:45.440 We're probably going to be farmers.
00:00:46.620 What if your dad's a cobbler?
00:00:48.220 You're probably going to be a cobbler.
00:00:50.060 Carpenter, carpenter, it doesn't matter.
00:00:52.060 You're probably going to do what your father does, and you're probably going to marry somebody 0.65
00:00:55.700 within the community because it's a small village, it's a small city, and the traditions
00:01:00.600 that we have, the church we go to, we don't have millions of different options.
00:01:04.600 Right?
00:01:05.600 That's a thousand years ago.
00:01:06.600 Go back to a hundred years ago.
00:01:07.600 Maybe we have more options.
00:01:08.600 But come to today.
00:01:10.240 If you wanted to today, you have more choices and options today than ever before.
00:01:15.440 On career, on religion, on politics, on social media, on content to consume, on dating.
00:01:20.640 If you wanted to have 10 dates every single day starting at 6 a.m. in the morning at the
00:01:25.940 gym, till 10 p.m. at night at Starbucks, on Saturday and Sunday, you could set it up today.
00:01:30.560 You just got to swipe right.
00:01:31.760 You have so many options today.
00:01:33.180 Why commit to anything?
00:01:34.860 Why get married?
00:01:36.280 Why commit to one career?
00:01:37.880 Why believe in one philosophy?
00:01:39.920 So this whole thing has made it so challenging.
00:01:43.140 Being an 18 year old today has got to be the most challenging time ever to be 18 years old
00:01:48.380 if you don't have the one currency which I'll talk about here in a minute.
00:01:51.100 Let me go a little bit deeper on this topic.
00:01:53.660 So the other day I'm holding a conference call and on the conference call one of the guys
00:01:56.540 asked me a question saying, Pat, how do you figure out a way to stay sane today and
00:02:04.500 still have a family life?
00:02:05.500 I'm married.
00:02:06.500 I got three kids.
00:02:07.500 Eight year old.
00:02:08.500 Six year old.
00:02:09.500 I run two companies.
00:02:10.500 I got employees, investors, lawyers, creating content.
00:02:13.560 All of this stuff combined together trying to exercise, stay in shape, kind of find out
00:02:17.960 what's going on with the economy, with the news.
00:02:20.180 How do you keep all that together and not lose it?
00:02:22.680 How does that happen?
00:02:23.980 And for me, I went to one place.
00:02:26.120 One simple place.
00:02:27.120 Every single year at the end of the year, I take a piece of paper and I write down, what
00:02:31.840 was Pat like at 18?
00:02:33.180 Then I go 18, 19, 20, 21, all the way down to my age today.
00:02:36.580 And I finish it with one thought.
00:02:38.760 Here's what the one thought is.
00:02:40.640 Is the 41-year-old Pat today hungrier, strategic, wiser, okay?
00:02:47.260 Then he was at 35.
00:02:49.940 Meaning, if the 41-year-old Pat was to compete against the 35-year-old Pat, who would win?
00:02:55.900 If the 41-year-old Pat were to go against the 40-year-old Pat, who would win?
00:02:59.580 What is the difference between the 32-year-old Pat versus the 41-year-old Pat?
00:03:03.260 What has changed?
00:03:04.260 Now, sometime when you say this, a lot of people will say, well, Pat, I'm wiser than I've ever
00:03:08.020 been before.
00:03:09.020 Okay.
00:03:10.020 All of us are, if you think about it.
00:03:11.700 The more mistakes you make, you're going to be wiser.
00:03:13.420 The more you travel, you're going to be wiser.
00:03:15.100 The more books you read, the more new people you meet, somehow, someway, more life experiences
00:03:19.220 just means we become wiser, right?
00:03:21.460 But hungrier?
00:03:22.460 Different story.
00:03:23.460 What do you mean by hungrier, though?
00:03:25.360 Am I supposed to be as hungry as I am, you know, at 28, at 40?
00:03:30.800 Am I not supposed to be a little bit more calmer?
00:03:33.800 Calmer?
00:03:34.800 Yes.
00:03:35.800 Hungry?
00:03:36.800 Different story.
00:03:37.800 Let me explain why.
00:03:38.800 We have two people running for office today, okay?
00:03:40.860 Both of them are in their mid-70s, Sanders and Trump, and they are hungrier than anybody
00:03:45.680 else today.
00:03:46.600 Why is that?
00:03:48.240 Is Trump hungrier today than he was at 40?
00:03:50.960 Think about the 74, 75-year-old President Trump going against 40-year-old Donald Trump.
00:03:56.900 Think about if the 75-year-old Sanders is going against the 40-year-old Sanders.
00:04:01.260 Who's hungrier?
00:04:02.260 Why?
00:04:03.260 See, in any competitive environment, if you and I were to go into any competitive environment,
00:04:08.460 business, sports, it doesn't matter what it is.
00:04:10.920 The moment you decide to compete, every morning you wake up, you fall into one of three categories.
00:04:16.380 You're either a hunter, trying to go find your prey.
00:04:19.600 You're either someone's prey, who's trying to hunt you, or you're collaborating with
00:04:23.360 somebody else to go hunt for something bigger.
00:04:26.060 Just like what just happened today with T-Mobile and Sprint.
00:04:29.340 They came together to try to go against AT&T or Verizon once it gets approved.
00:04:33.240 They're collaborating.
00:04:34.300 But if you don't hunt anymore, you will be hunted.
00:04:38.080 That's just the environment we're in.
00:04:39.720 That's why sometimes business gets a black eye because it's constant competition.
00:04:43.380 So what's the solution to this?
00:04:45.080 Here's what the solution is.
00:04:47.680 If you're talking to yourself right now, you're asking yourself, you're 50 years old, are you
00:04:51.120 as hungry as you're at 40?
00:04:52.180 I don't know.
00:04:53.180 You've got to answer that question.
00:04:55.060 But if you're not as hungry as 40, you may be someone's prey today.
00:04:59.220 Somebody may be coming after you today.
00:05:00.960 And how do you get that hunger again?
00:05:02.680 Very simple.
00:05:03.720 Go back to when you were hungry and think about the state you were in.
00:05:07.280 You'd watch a movie like Gladiator and you'd start getting emotional because you'd say,
00:05:11.100 oh my gosh, I want to want so bad.
00:05:13.440 I want that feeling of redemption like this guy has.
00:05:17.720 You watch movies with redemption.
00:05:19.700 It gave you juice.
00:05:21.500 It gave you power.
00:05:22.500 It gave you strength.
00:05:23.500 It gave you encouragement in ways nothing else was given you at that time.
00:05:27.600 When's the last time you felt that way?
00:05:30.480 When's the last time you put yourself in a position to feel that way?
00:05:33.040 When's the last time?
00:05:34.040 Why not?
00:05:35.360 Just because you're aging doesn't mean you shouldn't be hungrier.
00:05:37.860 You ought to get hungrier because you have more tools and mechanism and strategy and ways
00:05:43.140 of doing things better today.
00:05:44.700 I'll finish with this thought.
00:05:46.700 You know, I told you earlier the most valuable currency today, it's also the hardest currency,
00:05:51.260 but if you can get this currency on your side, it's going to be very hard to compete with
00:05:54.580 you today.
00:05:55.580 Here's what the one currency is.
00:05:56.980 The one currency today that will give you an edge in a marketplace over everybody else,
00:06:02.260 if you know how to concentrate on one thing, you have an edge.
00:06:08.500 If you know how to concentrate your efforts and be focused on one thing, you have an edge.
00:06:13.540 If you can be focused on one thing and not look at everything else that everybody else
00:06:18.740 is looking at, 50 different philosophies, 75 different ways to make money, 19 different
00:06:24.700 streams of income.
00:06:25.700 If you can figure out where to go here, all of that stuff is going to come your way.
00:06:29.800 But if you go chase all the other stuff like everyone else is, you're going to miss the
00:06:33.040 whole point of winning in life because you can't concentrate.
00:06:37.680 Concentration today is the number one currency.
00:06:40.200 You show me anyone today who knows how to concentrate, I'll show you someone that nobody
00:06:44.900 wants to compete with because it's very intimidating to concentrate in today's time.
00:06:49.500 So yes, it is very confusing today.
00:06:52.200 We are all over the place today.
00:06:53.540 I totally understand where you could be here today, but imagine if you could concentrate,
00:06:58.240 what would life look like?
00:07:00.280 Imagine if you went back and you started being hungry like you once were before.
00:07:03.920 Combine hunger and concentration.
00:07:06.220 You know what you'd be capable of doing?
00:07:08.320 Anything you want to do.
00:07:09.720 If you stay hungry and if you can stay concentrated at a time where the world is confused today.
