00:00:00.000 Donald Trump says Fed Chair Jay Powell's termination can't come fast enough.
00:00:05.540 Rob, if you got this clip, play the clip about Jay Powell,
00:00:08.920 and he's been wanting this for a while.
00:00:11.340 This is President Trump. Go for it.
00:00:14.320 Mr. President, on Jerome Powell, you said that the termination of Jerome Powell
00:00:18.760 cannot come fast enough.
00:00:20.420 He says he won't leave, even if you ask him to.
00:00:23.100 Oh, he'll leave. If I ask him to, he'll be out of there.
00:00:25.580 I don't think he's doing the job.
00:00:30.940 He's too late, always too late, a little slow, and I'm not happy with him.
00:00:37.860 I let him know it, and if I want him out, he'll be out of there real fast, believe me.
00:00:44.460 Yeah, go ahead.
00:00:46.720 Tom.
00:00:48.280 Well, as much as I love the guy that I've supported,
00:00:52.060 yeah, if you want him out of there,
00:00:56.680 how many presidents have wanted the Fed Chair out?
00:00:59.220 All of them.
00:00:59.800 All of them at one moment have been like,
00:01:01.880 what do I do with this guy?
00:01:03.320 You know, I can't executive order the guy?
00:01:05.460 No, you can't.
00:01:06.560 And so, and then Jay Powell calmly says,
00:01:10.660 well, our independence is a matter of law,
00:01:13.600 and I'm not going anywhere.
00:01:16.240 And that's it.
00:01:17.160 And that's the truth about it.
00:01:18.600 And so, what Trump wants him to do is to cut interest rates.
00:01:23.200 But inflation has not popped back up.
00:01:25.720 It's like a tenth of a percent, two tenths of a percent.
00:01:27.820 It hasn't gone crazy.
00:01:29.240 Unemployment hasn't gone crazy.
00:01:30.480 We haven't had 100,000 people laid off from GM.
00:01:34.240 So, Jay Powell says, look,
00:01:36.160 I move interest rates to help businesses when macro things,
00:01:39.580 when numbers move, not moods.
00:01:41.720 And you've got an angry stock market because it doesn't like sentiment.
00:01:45.960 It doesn't like what it thinks it's feeling from tariffs.
00:01:49.500 But we don't have numbers yet.
00:01:51.140 And so, I'm not going to move.
00:01:53.100 And I'm sitting here and I see maybe one rate cut, two rate cuts this year.
00:01:57.440 That's all I see.
00:01:58.240 And Trump desperately wants Jay Powell to cut interest rates at the upcoming May.
00:02:05.880 He wants a quarter point cut at the upcoming May.
00:02:08.700 Why?
00:02:09.300 Because it loosens up credit for companies to invest and to do things.
00:02:14.600 That's what every president wants is lower interest rates for housing stimulation 0.98
00:02:18.820 and for loans for businesses.
00:02:21.260 And Powell is like, he's not a cantankerous guy.
00:02:25.100 He's a hard guy to hate, you know, right?
00:02:27.020 He's like your kind grandfather, Jay Powell, right?
00:02:31.040 You can't hate the guy.
00:02:32.880 He doesn't come out and say things that are bombastic.
00:02:35.340 But what Trump's saying here,
00:02:37.480 Trump could say, I want that guy out and I want to fire him tomorrow.
00:02:40.520 It's not going to happen.
00:02:41.620 The Fed guy has a term.
00:02:43.380 And there's nothing horrible that's happened.
00:02:45.860 Like, he didn't screw something up to where you get people in the Federal Reserve to go,
00:02:49.940 Jay, it's been a tough summer and those were bad decisions.
00:02:53.240 And you kind of wrecked the bond market.
00:02:55.400 And you did all these things.
00:02:56.700 You're gone.
00:02:57.900 That's not happening.
00:02:59.500 And so, unfortunately, I want a quarter point cut.
00:03:03.340 I think in the face of everything with tariffs, quarter point cut would help everything.
00:03:07.600 But Powell's not going to move until he's got unemployment and inflation chasing.
00:03:13.300 I think he will get rid of Jerome Powell in May of 2026.
00:03:19.780 Because that's when Powell's term ends.
00:03:22.060 And that'll be 10 years.
00:03:23.680 So, he's been beefing Trump, has been beefing with Jerome Powell since the day he appointed him.
00:03:30.740 Like, Trump's the guy that brought him in.
00:03:32.200 He's like, why is this guy here?
00:03:33.260 It's like, you gave him the job, President Trump. 0.90
00:03:36.200 How long has he been talking trash about Powell?
00:03:39.360 And Jerome Powell is almost like the flip side of the coin to Trump.
00:03:43.480 He's very measured.
00:03:44.220 He's very soft-spoken.
00:03:45.540 Very chill.
00:03:46.320 Does anybody even know what Jerome Powell's voice sounds like?
00:03:48.640 I don't.
00:03:49.580 Do you know?
00:03:50.380 Maybe a little bit.
00:03:51.700 I think that's actually a good thing.
00:03:53.120 They're beefing, like, Biggie and Tupac. 1.00
00:03:55.420 Trump's just like, you're shitty. 1.00
00:03:56.740 You suck. 1.00
00:03:57.320 Whatever. 1.00
00:03:57.520 He's like, keep the rights to the same.
00:03:59.660 No, no, it's not Biggie and Tupac.
00:04:00.400 It's like Tupac and Sade.
00:04:03.680 He's not saying nothing.
00:04:04.760 He's just saying cherish the day.
00:04:05.060 What's your favorite Sade song?
00:04:06.300 Cherish the day.
00:04:07.020 It would probably be, what was that movie with Robert Redford with Demi Moore?
00:04:13.780 What is that?
00:04:15.200 Oh, what is that?
00:04:16.100 Indecent Proposal.
00:04:16.200 Indecent Proposal.
00:04:17.200 So, I would say Ordinary Love.
00:04:18.460 But that's a technical question.
00:04:19.660 This is definitely no Ordinary Love right here.
00:04:21.620 No, no.
00:04:22.240 What I'm saying to you is, this guy's not fighting back.
00:04:25.900 He's just saying, this is what's the right thing to do.
00:04:28.500 He's a logical guy.
00:04:29.760 I've been very complimentary of Jerome Powell.
00:04:32.200 I think we've had a soft landing.
00:04:34.380 Inflation's at, what, 2.5%?
00:04:36.160 Yep.
00:04:36.820 You know, rates.
00:04:37.620 He's made some cuts. 0.76
00:04:38.940 I actually think he's doing a damn good job, regardless of what Trump says.
00:04:41.780 What would you say about Powell's job?
00:04:42.460 So, let me explain to you how this works.
00:04:43.720 Here's how it works.
00:04:44.920 So, every year, for the last God knows how many years, we've had annual conventions.
00:04:49.920 And we do it at MGM Grand Arena. 0.97
00:04:52.140 Sick. 0.95
00:04:52.360 Sick event.
00:04:53.300 Great event.
00:04:53.880 10,000, energies, hype, phenomenal, all this stuff, right?
00:04:58.620 And the moment the event ends, I start already talking to my executives about what is the
00:05:07.660 new announcement we'll be making for next year, Vegas, 12 months later.
00:05:13.980 And all I'm collecting is good news.
00:05:17.640 That's all I'm collecting.
00:05:18.980 I need good news on January 1st, when it's our kickoff.
00:05:22.920 I need good news on February 1st, when it's our award ceremony that we do on the Zoom.
00:05:27.360 I need good news when we're in Dallas.
00:05:29.060 Right now, Train the Trainers is in Dallas.
00:05:31.020 And I need the best news when I'm in Las Vegas in front of everybody to announce what
00:05:35.720 we're doing.
00:05:36.920 When it gets closer to May, June, July, and I don't have any big, great news, I'm not a
00:05:42.220 happy guy.
00:05:42.660 Anyway, I've been telling my guys, we need some good news.
00:05:46.140 What's the news?
00:05:47.380 Comp, which is like taxes.
00:05:49.560 Contest, trip, recognition.
00:05:51.980 You know, new technology, which is speed, efficiency.
00:05:55.480 But I have to get some kind of news for them.
00:05:58.740 Trump right now is trying to get some good news to tell.
00:06:01.800 We need some positive distraction.
00:06:03.320 It's the key word.
00:06:04.340 Period.
00:06:05.100 Trump needs a positive distraction right now to get everybody to say, but did you see
00:06:08.840 the tax cuts?
00:06:10.320 But did you see the interest rates lowered?
00:06:12.280 But did you see this?
00:06:13.580 But did you see the new jobs report?
00:06:15.320 He needs that.
00:06:16.420 With everything that's going on right now, he's got one thing.
00:06:18.900 He needs some good, positive press.
00:06:21.600 And this guy is not helping.
00:06:23.460 If he gets some good, positive press here, what can he say as a guy that's in real estate?
00:06:27.320 Did you guys notice right now the mortgage rates are 5.85?
00:06:30.160 Wow, it's 5% for the first time.
00:06:32.400 News, marketing, everywhere.
00:06:33.820 So there's a little bit of PR that we need right now with positive news with all the
00:06:38.060 stuff that's going on.
00:06:38.760 Yeah, I mean, he still has 90% plus approval in the Republican Party, in the base.
00:06:44.000 You're good there.
00:06:44.640 He's good.
00:06:45.960 Democrats are always going to hate Trump.
00:06:47.340 They have TDS.
00:06:47.980 We understand what's going on there.
00:06:49.000 The independents, in the last 30 days, have gone from 50% approval down to like 30.
00:06:54.620 So he's losing independents day by day by day by day.
00:06:58.020 Now, Trump may not care because he's not running for re-election.
00:07:01.020 But J.D. Vance or whoever's next in line might be like, let's get some W's over here.
00:07:07.180 I fully agree.
00:07:08.420 He needs to put some points on the board and win a couple games.
