In this episode of the podcast, I'm joined by the excellent political writer and journalist, Alex Blumberg. We talk about Keir Starmer's departure from the Labour leadership, the influence of the Fabian Society, and the role of fathers in society.
00:00:00.000Keir Starmer, who just resigned, when you and I were talking about it, you brought up the Fabian Society and we talked about George Bernard Shaw.
00:00:07.720For some of the people that don't know about the Fabian Society, would you mind sharing that with the audience?
00:00:13.620Yeah, if you if you actually look, the Fabian Society, a lot of people don't know about it.
00:00:17.820But it's something which goes again to the root of the Labour Party.
00:00:23.020And if you if you look at the front bench, most of them are Fabians.
00:00:29.340Keir Starmer is a Fabian, and he's a member of something called the Haldane Society,
00:00:33.280which is a very Marxist wing of British lawyers.
00:00:39.060You know, I think, you know, he's a Pabloist.
00:00:43.280I don't know if you've heard of Pabloism, but people should look at Pabloism as well.
00:00:46.680So he's, as I've said, Keir Starmer isn't what he appeared to be.
00:00:49.900He was a deeply, well, he went to the Fabian Society's emblem, Patrick,
00:00:56.440I looked at that logo. Is that really their logo?
00:01:00.320That was their logo, Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. I mean, you couldn't, you know, as I said to you, they were eugenicists. They were, you know, I mean, pretty extraordinary people. And again, I think if you're a libertarian and you're a free thinker, it would be the antithesis of everything you believe in.
00:01:19.400so look i mean most of the labor front bench are fabians uh donald trump's favorite man who is0.83
00:01:26.740gradually destroying london or quite quickly destroying london sadiq khan he's a fabian
00:01:31.440um it's a it's a it's it's a sort of a theme that runs through most of the left wing in the uk
00:01:39.900and um i guess i guess they have their reasons for being part of it but uh i've always had a
00:01:47.920healthy suspicion of anything like that and um i've never participated in that sort of thing
00:01:53.400myself uh so but look yeah it's it's not good it's not good and and was wasn't wasn't Keir
00:02:00.120Starmer uh i mean you're looking at tony blair gordon brown clement atlee harold wilson james
00:02:06.860gallag and quite a few names but wasn't Keir Starmer before he became prime minister one of
00:02:12.120his jobs wasn't it child care services didn't that fall under his responsibilities i did watch a bit
00:02:17.260of a bit of your clip last night he was the crown prosecution service crown prosecution service he
00:02:22.640was head of the crown prosecution service which again uh you weren't a million miles off uh as
00:02:29.200head of the crown prosecution service he and lord hermer um who who is uh now next to him or will be
00:02:38.800hopefully not for very long um as the lord chancellor ultimately uh they were responsible
00:02:47.200for making sure that things like the rape gang scandal didn't happen because the crime prosecution
00:02:53.520service is supposed to oversee justice in the uk so a lot of these files would have gone over
00:03:01.600Keir Starmer's desk during his time as head of the CPS. But look, Keir Starmer is a human rights
00:03:10.620lawyer, Patrick. He makes money out of human rights law. So, you know, it's a bit, he's a bit
00:03:17.920like a poacher turned gamekeeper, really, when he's prime minister. And we see these people who
00:03:24.000peddle rubbish, enriching themselves and giving themselves a position in society which they don't1.00
00:03:29.940deserve rather like parasites feeding on the back of an elephant but in the end they kill the host0.99
00:03:36.360animal and i and i think we're very close to that in the uk now i think we've got too many0.99
00:03:40.740white-collar parasites not enough blue-collar workers and um you know i'm with the blue-collar0.90
00:03:47.900workers who actually get up in the morning and do something i'm not with the the white-collar0.98
00:03:52.880brigade who hopefully ai will destroy who get between the wall and the wallpaper father is
00:03:59.120One of the most powerful quotes I ever heard was the following.
