00:00:00.000 Who are you noticing, Chris, that's advancing in military the most?
00:00:05.580 I mean, when we look at budgets, right, Rob, if you can go back to that one that you had,
00:00:09.760 you know, because we see this budget here, right?
00:00:12.580 Ours, $8.77.
00:00:15.320 You got China, Russia, India, Saudi, UK, Germany, France, South Korea, Japan, Ukraine combined
00:00:19.920 is not $8.77.
00:00:22.860 They're $8.49, right?
00:00:24.600 I think that this is, it tells a story, an interesting story.
00:00:30.540 It's two years old.
00:00:31.460 It's also, yes.
00:00:33.100 And this ratio has been similar to this for a long time.
00:00:36.980 I would say it doesn't tell the full story because I think China's actually spending a
00:00:43.420 lot more than that because there's so many different ways that you can determine what's
00:00:49.000 military spending and not.
00:00:50.440 There's so many different ways that it's almost an accountant game where China, for
00:00:55.880 instance, there's large parts of their, what we include in our military budget, like things
00:01:02.340 like the Coast Guard and the National Guard, for instance, the National Guard budget, China
00:01:08.080 does not include their, what you would call their National Guard is not included in their
00:01:13.500 budget.
00:01:13.820 It's a separate thing that they include as part of their accounting for police force because
00:01:18.440 so much of what China does is policing their own people.
00:01:21.880 And so it's called the People's Armed Police.
00:01:26.860 Huge budget.
00:01:27.880 And this is the People's Armed Police, by the way, have flamethrowers and rocket launchers
00:01:34.260 and infantry fighting vehicles.
00:01:36.380 Like it's not a regular police force.
00:01:39.500 It's essentially another part of their military, but they just don't do the accounting that way.
00:01:45.500 So it's one.
00:01:46.500 And there's a bunch of line items that are like that.
00:01:50.440 That's just one example.
00:01:52.140 And also with our 800 something billion dollars, I wonder how much of it is maintaining our
00:01:55.720 780 military bases.
00:01:58.100 Imagine the maintenance of that, the keeping, you know, that afloat.
00:02:03.440 That's got to be a big cost.
00:02:04.780 I would love to see the breakdown of how much the overseas bases are.
00:02:10.480 I would make the argument that those bases are a net benefit to us, but they certainly
00:02:20.160 do cost a lot of money.
00:02:22.860 A lot of times, though, the countries themselves pay for a lot of the stationing of our bases.
00:02:27.640 They want us there.
00:02:28.340 In China, for instance, that budget is much larger also because of something called purchasing
00:02:34.280 power parity.
00:02:35.940 So if you account for it, and this is not a perfect example of how it works, but goods
00:02:43.420 in the United States cost a lot more.
00:02:45.640 So buying an M16 here is different than what China would pay.
00:02:50.220 So if you account for that discrepancy, basically there's a firm, an actual economics firm that
00:02:58.640 ran the numbers, and they assessed that China's budget is probably closer to twice as high as
00:03:03.700 they claim it is.
00:03:05.280 Yeah, or more so.
00:03:06.800 So it's still not at the levels we are.
00:03:08.680 Right.
00:03:10.080 What type of advancement are they making?
00:03:13.120 You see the drone war, right?
00:03:14.860 If you see this other chart that we all see, and again, you're getting me to not question
00:03:18.760 the drone part, the country's set to dominate drone warfare by 2028.
00:03:23.500 See where we are, okay?
00:03:25.940 And then you got, this is by The Guardian, you got China, we're at 1,000, China, 68, Russia,
00:03:31.500 India, Australia, Egypt, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Israel, okay?
00:03:35.860 And how are they calculating those numbers, Rob?
00:03:37.740 Is there a number to it, or what does the 1,000 mean?
00:03:41.720 Do you see it on the bottom, or no?
00:03:42.920 It doesn't say at the bottom.
00:03:44.020 I can find out.
00:03:44.540 Brandon, can you send us what that 1,000 means in calculation?
00:03:47.440 But when you're seeing, you know, drone warfare, future way of going to war, who is advancing
00:03:54.760 in a more modern warfare than others?
00:03:57.940 Are we still ahead of everybody?
00:04:00.000 I think with the drones is probably the, especially the organic to the squad, that level of smaller
00:04:07.300 drone, I think we were caught off guard a little bit by the FPV drones, the first-person view drones that are
00:04:14.060 just for, like, the size of one soldier can use.
00:04:18.020 Because we were, for a long time, and still are, the leaders at the most high-tech and sophisticated
00:04:23.060 drones.
00:04:24.160 But so much of what's happening, so much of the innovation is those lower-level drones.
00:04:29.360 So I think we're now catching up.
00:04:32.040 For instance, we are basically, right now, what's happening in the U.S. military is the
00:04:37.320 largest transformation of how our forces fight since the 1980s.
00:04:43.040 Like, in the 1980s, the military went through a giant overhaul in the Cold War when we got
00:04:49.800 the Bradleys, the Apaches.
00:04:51.160 We got the Big Five systems, the HIMARS or the MLRS rockets.
00:04:57.820 These systems changed our entire military doctrine of how we fight, and we went and we were able
00:05:05.960 to defeat Iraq in several days using these new systems.
00:05:10.820 And now we're doing—this was the land-sea battle doctrine.
00:05:15.440 We're now doing multi-domain task force fighting, which we're seeing were less focus
00:05:25.900 and emphasis on Abrams tanks and heavy tanks, more focus on these light Jeeps called infantry
00:05:32.920 squad vehicles, kind of like going back, basically, to the Humvee of the 80s.
00:05:37.980 And we're going to send troops out in these unarmored Humvees with—
00:05:42.540 These guys.
00:05:42.920 Yeah, yeah, those.
00:05:43.760 And then all those dudes are going to have drones with them.
00:05:47.420 So this is the new meta, you could say, of how we're going to fight wars.
00:05:52.280 It's fascinating to see.
00:05:53.720 It's so crazy to see an organization like the Army that's so opposed to change, and you
00:05:59.020 really got to twist their arm to get them to make any kind—an institution like that
00:06:04.140 is very traditional and rooted in what works.
00:06:07.000 So they're making massive, radical changes that they—more changes in the time span of
00:06:14.620 two years than usually they make in 20 years.
00:06:17.080 Yeah, so drones, by the way, that 1,000 that we saw, that was 1,000 times 1,000.
00:06:22.800 So we would be essentially at—it's 1,000 individual military drones, not dollars monetary.
00:06:31.500 So 1,000 times 1,000, which means a million, that military drone warfare that's being built.
00:06:36.940 By the way, when you look at—did you see the Russia drones that came out just released
00:06:42.180 two or three days ago?
00:06:43.680 Did you see these black drones that were shown?
00:06:45.860 Rob, I don't know if you have this or not.
00:06:47.860 Russia drones were just released, I think, three days ago, two days ago.
00:06:52.220 Okay, two days ago.
00:06:54.020 And Russia appears to be launching—go a little bit lower, be launching.
00:06:59.740 Oh, from the pickup truck, the Ford pickup trucks?
00:07:02.200 Is that what you're talking about?
00:07:02.680 No, this is not the one, Rob.
00:07:04.000 If you go on X, type in the same phrase you put on there and just put it on X and see what
00:07:09.580 comes up.
00:07:10.060 Russia drones and X and see what it—what shows us.
00:07:13.260 You'll see the way—
00:07:15.880 Right here?
00:07:16.620 The Black B drone group?
00:07:18.600 July 22nd.
00:07:19.700 Is that the one?
00:07:20.560 I don't know if that's the one.
00:07:21.640 Go a little bit lower, Rob, to see what we see.
00:07:25.440 There were these drones that were just absolutely—I mean, you can see the—go a little bit lower,
00:07:30.860 Rob.
00:07:33.140 Yeah, I have to find it.
00:07:35.160 Oh, is that the one?
00:07:36.480 What is that right there, Rob?
00:07:37.440 The third one?
00:07:38.280 Russia flaunts its massive drone—that's the one right there, July 22nd.
00:07:41.980 Russia flaunts its massive drone war machine on state TV unveiling—yeah, this is the one.
00:07:48.080 Press play on this one if you can.
00:07:50.200 It's giving you a hard time.
00:07:51.080 Yeah, but hang on one second.
00:07:52.120 I can download it and play it.
00:07:53.700 There we go.
00:07:53.820 These Russians never want us to see these videos.
00:07:55.780 Look at this.
00:07:56.140 This is it.
00:08:00.520 So they want to play ball.
00:08:03.900 Yeah, they're not joking around.
00:08:05.380 No.
00:08:05.460 It's funny because they got—those Shahed drones are from Iran.
00:08:09.480 They're Iranian technology.
00:08:10.780 These drones?
00:08:11.420 Yeah.
00:08:11.760 Are Iranian technology?
00:08:13.080 Oh, yeah, yeah.
00:08:13.720 Iran were the ones that—very famously, Shahed drone is Iran basically set up these production facilities in Russia.
00:08:22.600 They sent CUDS force operatives to help train them on how to use—because Russia has a lot of very sophisticated—it's kind of like the United States, where they have sophisticated weapon systems.
00:08:34.720 But they had this gap in drone technology, and Iran happened to have the capability and the know-how for these type of explosive drones, and they provided that to Russia.
00:08:48.500 Russia has now since run with it.
00:08:51.280 Yeah, so these guys right here—pull it—zoom a little bit.
00:08:54.960 Yeah, Iran.
00:08:55.560 So place of origin, Iran.
00:08:56.860 Interesting.
00:08:57.280 Iran, North Korea, Communist Chinese Party, all of our allies are funding and helping Russia.
00:09:07.380 They're all getting together and doing everything they can to help Russia, which is part of the reason why I am kind of of the mind that I'm like, maybe it's not such a bad idea for us in the West if all of our enemies—and I consider them our enemies.
00:09:21.620 I think they don't want us to do well—if they're all backing Russia, putting resources in, I would say that's a pretty good argument and evidence for why—or what I would say is a strong evidence for why we should support Ukraine to the degree that it's in American interest.
00:09:38.900 That's interesting.
00:09:46.780 What else is Iran known for building outside of this?
00:09:50.580 What else is their specialty?
00:09:52.360 Oh, they get everything from, like, old Soviet Russian equipment, Chinese equipment.
00:09:57.400 They get everything from them.
00:09:58.520 What do they produce, though?
00:10:00.340 As far as I know, the drone is their big, like, claim to fame.
00:10:03.460 That's the one, their claim to fame.
00:10:04.920 Manufacturing military weapons, including various types of missiles, armored vehicles, aircraft, and naval vessels.
00:10:11.080 They do also—I should say, actually, that's—maybe that's not accurate.
00:10:14.780 They do a lot for the Houthis.
00:10:16.620 So all of the ballistic missiles that the Houthis use, their anti-ship missiles that they fire in the Red Sea, for instance, all of that is Iranian technology that the Iranians ship to the Houthis.
00:10:28.400 Hi, I'm Chris Cappy.
