00:00:00.000 You ever see people, when they hit a certain age, they act a little weird?
00:00:02.440 It's almost like you don't know what's going on, but they got panic, anxiety.
00:00:05.800 They're like a little bit more fidgety.
00:00:07.720 Their temper's a little bit off.
00:00:09.220 What is the matter with you?
00:00:10.240 By the way, all of this is one number, and I'm going to give you what that one number is.
00:00:12.920 It's one magical number that sometimes messes with people's head.
00:00:16.900 So let me get right into it.
00:00:17.840 By the way, if this video gives you value, give it a thumbs up and subscribe at the end
00:00:22.280 of the video.
00:00:22.660 Let me get right into it.
00:00:23.380 My dad, for the longest time, he drove a 1978 Mercedes 240D.
00:00:28.960 It's a diesel.
00:00:29.760 He drove, and he would tell everybody all the time, the moment this engine dies, I'm
00:00:34.320 going to die. 0.95
00:00:34.820 We're going down together.
00:00:36.480 It's going to go over a half a million miles.
00:00:38.520 It's a diesel, Patrick.
00:00:39.620 You always got to buy diesel.
00:00:40.960 This guy was team diesel, right?
00:00:42.820 So one day I get a call, and my sister says, you know, the diesel shut down the middle of
00:00:48.220 the street.
00:00:48.500 I said, what?
00:00:48.860 So I call my dad.
00:00:49.400 What's going on?
00:00:50.560 Diesel's gone.
00:00:51.400 The engine completely kaput.
00:00:54.000 Gone, right?
00:00:54.760 But the moment that happens, my dad starts thinking he's also about to be gone.
00:00:59.760 Goes straight to the hospital.
00:01:01.440 Heart issues.
00:01:02.280 One month stays in the hospital because he thought he was.
00:01:04.660 That was the end of it for him.
00:01:06.500 And I'm sitting there talking to him.
00:01:07.720 I said, man, you had really convinced yourself that the expiration of this engine was the
00:01:13.320 expiration of you.
00:01:14.320 He says, well, you know, we've been together for this.
00:01:15.980 I said, but dad, it's an engine.
00:01:17.400 It's a different story.
00:01:18.140 Now watch this.
00:01:18.680 Here's what's crazy about it.
00:01:19.600 Years ago, when my dad had a heart attack in 94 and they did an open heart surgery, the
00:01:23.560 guy had done six angios, six angioplastics, three stents in his heart, 50% of his heart
00:01:28.460 is black.
00:01:28.880 The doctor said, you're lucky if you live 20 years, most likely 10 to 20 years you're 0.96
00:01:32.260 going to be living.
00:01:32.920 Anyways, he lived to 80.
00:01:34.120 The only person that made it to 80 in his life.
00:01:36.000 What's the moral of the story?
00:01:38.940 Our imagination is so powerful that it gets us to think things and create things that are
00:01:45.400 non-existent.
00:01:46.320 This could be a good thing and a bad thing, but most of the time we use our imagination
00:01:51.060 in a bad way.
00:01:51.960 So I promised you the number.
00:01:53.440 What is that magical number that messes with people?
00:01:56.560 You ready?
00:01:57.520 It's the number nine.
00:01:58.920 Why nine?
00:02:00.040 Here's why nine.
00:02:01.620 29 years old.
00:02:03.000 You're about to be 30.
00:02:04.220 That messes with people's head.
00:02:06.020 You start thinking, oh my God, my friends are married.
00:02:07.780 They have kids.
00:02:08.180 I don't have any kids.
00:02:08.880 I'm not.
00:02:09.240 What am I going to do?
00:02:10.100 I'm behind the eight ball.
00:02:10.920 Oh my God, this is crazy.
00:02:12.720 I have to figure things out.
00:02:13.720 I'm going to screw this whole thing up.
00:02:15.300 So that number nine.
00:02:16.520 39.
00:02:16.940 Oh my gosh, I'm 39 years old.
00:02:18.160 I thought I would have been a millionaire by now.
00:02:19.900 Oh, this is crazy.
00:02:21.060 What am I going to do?
00:02:21.440 I'm about to be 40 years old.
00:02:23.600 Don't give me the four.
00:02:25.260 I'm going to be 40.
00:02:26.340 I don't want to be 40.
00:02:27.480 I'm 49 years old.
00:02:28.200 Oh my gosh, I'm going to be 50.
00:02:30.620 Half a century.
00:02:32.740 Half a century years old.
00:02:34.160 What am I going to do?
00:02:34.960 59, 60.
00:02:36.000 I'm not ready for retirement.
00:02:37.480 69, 70.
00:02:38.260 Oh my gosh.
00:02:39.480 That nine messes with all of our heads because it produces two feelings.
00:02:43.740 Either one feeling it produces is helpless.
00:02:46.260 Oh my gosh.
00:02:47.540 It's the end of the world.
00:02:48.600 Whoa me.
00:02:49.280 Oh my goodness.
00:02:50.060 There's nothing I can do about it.
00:02:51.340 You act helpless.
00:02:52.740 Or number two, it ought to produce a ton of urgency.
00:02:56.740 Where it's like, you know what?
00:02:57.660 I got to get after it.
00:02:58.580 I got to do something about it.
00:03:00.000 There's no way in the world.
00:03:01.440 The next nine, I'm going to be in the position that I'm at right now.
00:03:04.140 So helpless, urgency, at the end of the day, you can look at it and say, hey, it's just
00:03:10.320 another number, right?
00:03:11.400 It's just another number.
00:03:12.360 It's number nine.
00:03:13.000 Or you can say it's the end of the world.
00:03:14.340 The whole moral of the story is this.
00:03:16.200 When you hit that age, whether it's your kid, whether it's your spouse, whether it's
00:03:19.700 your friend, whether it's one of your employees, whether it's yourself, you have to be aware
00:03:23.520 it is just another number, but you do have to be a little bit more urgent to make sure
00:03:28.220 that the next nine, you're way ahead than you thought you were going to be because that
00:03:33.000 level of urgency got you to your goals.
00:03:35.560 Make sense?
00:03:36.320 So don't let number nine scare you.
00:03:38.060 Let it drive you more than scare you.
00:03:40.260 Anyways, if you got value from this message here, give it a thumbs up, subscribe, and I
00:03:43.460 got another video I want you to watch.
00:03:45.060 It's a speech I gave seven, eight months ago.
00:03:47.400 I believe it was in Vegas or Palm Springs, and it's a message about will or want.
