In this episode, I sit down with a good friend of mine, Nick Shirley, to talk about his journey from Cuba to now living in the United States. We talk about how he got his start in life, how he started his business, and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.
00:00:17.400You're going to get a lot of people that are going to be in your ear.
00:00:23.580Do your best to speak to those and take counsel from those who need nothing from you.
00:00:30.000you know, study people's motives on what they need from you. And then even if you know what
00:00:35.480their motives are, it could be a sincere motive. That's okay. Like the motive here is we're doing
00:00:40.600a podcast. You just came from Cuba. There's a fair exchange, but study motives because you're
00:00:47.380still young enough where people may see an opportunity with you. So protect yourself from
00:00:52.180the right influencers, the right people out there that are doing the right things financially.
00:00:56.340finally, I love the fact that you wrote down savings. One of the things that I had early on
00:01:01.020for my dad is the power of having cash in a bank. If I didn't have the cash in a bank,
00:01:06.720like, you know, I bought a land cash, $25.2 million. If I didn't have cash, I couldn't buy
00:01:12.240a $40 million property for 25. But that happened with me saving $10,000, then $25,000, then $50,000,
00:01:18.420then $100,000. So behind closed doors, you know, as much as celebrating the business,
00:01:23.460saving celebrate having savings and cash it'll give you peace of mind and you'll be able to stay
00:01:29.600as honest to what you're doing as possible be selective of sponsors like you talked about
00:01:34.280earlier who you're taking sponsorship money from you're gonna have some mistakes you're gonna make
00:01:38.860some fumbles everybody does when you do you know pick yourself up and come back up and do your
00:01:45.000thing trust yourself and your instinct um i would say i would say that at this point amazing advice
00:01:52.480I really just want to show people what's happening in the world, whether it be in Cuba or here in the United States, and just show it as transparent as possible.
00:02:00.080I think now we're getting to a point where non-controversial issues have become very controversial, and the idea that some of these ideas have become controversial is just crazy to me.
00:02:15.140like for instance all these people that are now supporting communism but they live here in the
00:02:22.160united states and they protest every weekend well if you were to do that you wouldn't if you were to
00:02:25.420go live in a communist country you wouldn't be able to do that exactly like that person i wanted
00:02:29.020to put there's a lot of like mean tweets that came my way after the cuba video and i wanted to tweet0.81
00:02:33.760like for my next trick get people to defend a country that suppresses speech has no free media
00:02:41.480and holds those that speak against the government as political prisoners.
00:02:48.220And I've gotten people to defend fraud openly.
00:02:52.180I've had them defend billions of dollars of fraud.
00:02:56.880And a Democrat has never even reached out to me and said,
00:02:58.700hey, thanks for exposing the fraud in our state.
