Valuetainment - “They Used To Call Dick Cheney Hitler!” - Scott Jennings TORCHES Anti-Trump HYPOCRITES

00:00:00.000 Yeah, it's interesting because if you look at those two faces on that poll, who do you see?

00:00:05.040 You see Barack Obama and you see President Bush.

00:00:09.020 And you don't see President, you see President Trump there, but here's what happened.

00:00:13.360 Yesterday was Dick Cheney's funeral.

00:00:17.500 May he rest in peace.

00:00:18.780 He's somebody's father, he's somebody's brother, he's somebody's friend.

00:00:22.340 May he rest in peace.

00:00:23.500 He's a very, very controversial figure in politics.

00:00:28.940 Both sides have said a lot of interesting things about this guy, how vicious he was.

00:00:33.860 But when you look at who was at the funeral yesterday, who wasn't invited and who was invited but didn't show up,

00:00:42.020 will kind of tell you what's going on in America today.

00:00:45.760 Rob, is this kind of showing who was at the funeral?

00:00:47.680 Yeah, she gets into who's there and who's not.

00:00:49.500 Okay, go for it.

00:00:50.320 More than a thousand people are expected to come here to the National Cathedral to pay tribute to former Vice President Dick Cheney

00:00:58.840 and his decades of public service, including former President George W. Bush,

00:01:05.080 who of course was Commander-in-Chief when Cheney was Vice President.

00:01:10.400 He will deliver remarks and so will Cheney's daughter, former U.S. Congresswoman Liz Cheney.

00:01:16.960 Can you show pictures of who actually was there?

00:01:19.760 There's a video of Kamala Harris.

00:01:22.380 If you go to Twitter, you type in Kamala Harris and Jill Biden and you put in Cheney.

00:01:28.600 Just if you type in Cheney, Kamala Harris, you should see when they meet each other, what that interaction is like.

00:01:35.900 Rachel Maddow and Dr. Fauci.

00:01:38.400 Yeah, first of all.

00:01:39.480 Okay, there you go.

00:01:40.680 Make it a little bit bigger if you can.

00:01:41.940 And I think the hip-hop music they're playing in the background may trigger the copyright.

00:01:46.360 Right there.

00:01:46.800 Look at that.

00:01:47.860 So there is Jill.

00:01:49.360 There's President Biden.

00:01:51.200 There's Michael Pence.

00:01:53.440 Okay.

00:01:53.840 President Bush coming around with his wife.

00:01:56.600 Her hair is amazing.

00:01:57.680 Mitch McConnell hanging in there, standing up, which is great.

00:02:00.960 Al Gore.

00:02:01.500 How do you, Mitch?

00:02:02.100 Climate change, end of the world is coming there.

00:02:04.020 And then you see Kamala speaking with Jill, but doesn't shake hands with Kamala.

00:02:10.640 Maybe they did later on or before that.

00:02:12.440 So who knows?

00:02:13.020 You know, a lot of times these stories, they get out of control.

00:02:16.060 You had Rachel Maddow who was there.

00:02:18.520 And obviously the one and only, the GOAT of vaccinations, Anthony Fauci was there earlier there.

00:02:25.440 So you see this.

00:02:27.400 Who wasn't invited?

00:02:29.060 President Trump wasn't invited.

00:02:30.920 J.D. Vance wasn't invited.

00:02:32.440 Who wasn't there?

00:02:33.980 Michelle Obama wasn't there.

00:02:35.140 Okay.

00:02:35.840 Was Barack?

00:02:37.420 I don't think Barack was there.

00:02:38.880 Obama was not there.

00:02:39.880 No, he wasn't.

00:02:40.620 But I think Barack wasn't there.

00:02:42.260 This is the one event he hasn't been to.

00:02:44.380 Michelle, this is the third event he hasn't been to.

00:02:46.160 She hasn't been to.

00:02:47.380 I'm not trying to say anything.

00:02:48.040 Jimmy Carter funeral.

00:02:49.060 I don't believe she went to.

00:02:49.560 Yeah, Jimmy Carter funeral, the inauguration, and not this one.

00:02:52.000 She's not been to any one of them.

00:02:53.900 Scott, you hear stories.

00:02:56.900 There's this one story from Breitbart saying the Bush family is plotting comeback to retake GOP.

00:03:02.100 And from Trump.

00:03:03.880 What is your impression when you see something like this happening with Dick Cheney?

00:03:08.880 It's his funeral.

00:03:10.260 Trump and J.D. Vance are not there.

00:03:12.900 Michelle and Obama.

00:03:13.720 Okay, Obama should be there.

00:03:15.760 Michelle not there.

00:03:16.400 How do you process this yourself?

00:03:18.520 Well, the thing that jumped out at me was seeing Rachel Maddow at this funeral.

00:03:22.500 I mean, when I first saw yesterday, I thought, am I living on Earth, too?

00:03:25.360 Rachel Maddow is at Dick Cheney's funeral.

00:03:27.460 I mean, remember what they called Dick Cheney.

00:03:29.280 Before they called Donald Trump Hitler, they were calling Dick Cheney.

00:03:31.980 Of course.

00:03:32.340 Hitler, war criminal, needs to be in jail, and so on. 0.77

00:03:35.180 All he had to do was one thing to get Rachel Maddow there.

00:03:39.260 He voted against Trump in 2024.

00:03:41.260 I mean, that's the thing.

00:03:42.120 They hated, hated, hated, hated.

00:03:44.880 Oh, you vote against Trump?

00:03:46.260 Now we love you.

00:03:47.020 That's it.

00:03:47.440 And so, to me, the transparency of this is sort of disgusting.

00:03:52.660 Look, this is establishment Washington.

00:03:55.200 They all knew each other for years.

00:03:56.460 You've got to remember, Cheney was the youngest White House chief of staff under Ford.

00:04:01.300 He was in the House.

00:04:02.580 He was in the House leadership.

00:04:03.940 He was secretary of defense.

00:04:05.880 He was vice president for two terms.

00:04:07.680 I mean, he's been working with these guys, you know, for his entire life.

00:04:10.880 And by the way, pretty effective bureaucratic operator.

00:04:13.660 I mean, he got things done.

00:04:14.460 I mean, look, I worked for these guys, okay?

00:04:16.640 Worked in the Bush-Cheney White House.

00:04:18.420 I worked on both campaigns.

00:04:19.480 I'll tell you one thing about Dick Cheney. 0.67

00:04:20.660 The man hated radical Islamic terrorists more than anything in this world. 0.99

00:04:24.600 And that's pretty much what he dedicated himself to doing, killing them and stopping them from hurting Americans. 0.99

00:04:30.020 And so I don't think you can ever criticize that. 0.97

00:04:33.020 But this is official Washington.

00:04:34.840 And the divide is, did you stand against Trump or did you go with Trump?

00:04:38.980 Now, interestingly, even though Cheney was against him in 24, when a lot of Republicans weren't with Trump in 16, Cheney actually stepped up and said, no, I'm for Trump.

00:04:47.180 I'm voting for Trump.

00:04:48.060 And it was kind of a shot in the arm for Trump back in the 16 campaign.

00:04:51.880 In fact, I think Cheney actually went to the Republican National Convention to show his support, and Bush did not.

00:04:57.500 So he went on a little bit of a roller coaster.

00:04:59.580 Cheney voted for him and endorsed him in 16?

00:05:01.480 Yes, sir.

00:05:02.120 And I will tell you this.

00:05:03.340 I don't, you know, look, his daughter, Liz Cheney, became the biggest anti-Trump person.

00:05:08.260 I don't begrudge a man for supporting his daughter.

00:05:13.000 It doesn't surprise me.

00:05:14.820 I would be shocked if he did otherwise.

00:05:17.880 But what I find sort of just disgusting is, you know, this guy spent his entire life as a Republican, as a conservative.

00:05:24.000 He goes against Trump one time, and all of a sudden you got Rachel Maddow at your funeral.

00:05:27.880 I mean, she doesn't like Dick Cheney.

00:05:29.860 She has no use for Dick Cheney except to be a weapon against Donald Trump. 0.98

00:05:34.060 Everything revolves around Trump.

00:05:35.980 Have you and Rachel Maddow ever had any interactions together or no?

00:05:39.080 Never met her.

00:05:39.740 You've never met her?

00:05:40.540 No.

00:05:40.660 And never spoken to each other?

00:05:41.980 No.

00:05:42.380 Okay.

00:05:43.060 Interesting.

00:05:43.820 When you see this happening.

00:05:44.840 By the way, how much credence do you give to the story about the fact that President Bush and his family are reportedly planning to retake the Republican Party from Trump once he's out of the office?

00:05:53.460 According to a recent rumor steering that there's a plot to end the so-called Bush exile as part of the effort to take a – how much credibility do you give to a story like this?

00:06:03.960 Zero.

00:06:04.600 Because, look, the president or the presidential candidate controls the party.

00:06:10.620 Trump's the president.

00:06:11.500 He's the titular head of the party.

00:06:13.220 I suspect J.D. Vance will be the next nominee.

00:06:15.580 Then he'll be the titular head of the party.

00:06:17.680 That's who is in charge of the party.

00:06:19.220 Now, are there Bush people around who support Trump and are part of it?

00:06:21.880 Absolutely, and that's fine.

00:06:23.340 But the idea of an ex-president who, by the way, has been out of public life – George W. Bush has not meddled in anything.

00:06:30.460 He doesn't come out and criticize.

00:06:31.920 I mean he doesn't give speeches.

00:06:33.140 Obama does.

00:06:34.200 Clinton does.

00:06:34.960 Jimmy Carter did his whole life.

00:06:36.320 Bush retired.

00:06:37.580 He's a painter.

00:06:38.780 He's not involved in politics right now, so I don't give it any credence.

00:06:42.240 Got it.

00:06:42.340 Well, question for you.

00:06:43.260 We all remember what happened in the 2016 run-up to the election.

00:06:48.400 Trump single-handedly destroyed the Bush family and the Bush family legacy with Jeb Bush on stage.

00:06:54.920 It got so bad that Jeb Bush had to ask and beg people, please clap.

00:06:59.960 In that debate, low-energy Jeb, there was a clear fissure between the new MAGA party and the Republican party, in my opinion.

00:07:08.820 What do you recall from that when he just completely dismantled Jeb Bush?

00:07:12.100 And in essence, the Bush White House legacy.

00:07:14.620 Well, my recollection of that whole year was that it wasn't just the Bush family.

00:07:19.840 It was also the Clintons.

00:07:20.840 So he beats – it was kind of old guard establishment politics versus new people.

00:07:26.940 We're throwing out the old guard and we're going in a much different direction.

00:07:30.620 And so it was bigger than that.

00:07:32.020 It was just a rejection of the American people of the political elites that we trusted let us down some bad roads,

00:07:38.360 and we're going to punish them and put in new people.

00:07:40.960 But you remember, he didn't just run against Jeb Bush.

00:07:42.900 He ran against like 17 other people.

00:07:44.780 They were all politicians.

00:07:46.160 But a lot of those names – Huckabee, Scott Walker – they're almost irrelevant now.

00:07:50.600 Carly Fiorino, the Bush family legacy.

00:07:53.540 For Trump to take out the Bushes, the Clintons, and essentially Obama with a third term with Biden?

00:08:00.840 Yeah.

00:08:02.100 It's a trifecta.

00:08:03.460 He has been the destroyer of political legacies.

00:08:08.380 I mean that is one of his legacies as a political actor for the last 10 years, taking out entrenched things like whether it's a political dynasty,

00:08:19.860 whether it's the establishment media, whatever.

00:08:23.060 The guy has – the people that were running our politics have all basically fallen to Donald Trump, not just Democrats but Republicans too.

00:08:31.460 You know what Lee Zeldin said yesterday?

00:08:33.280 He said the most interesting thing.

00:08:35.760 He said, in every room the president is in, he's the alpha.

00:08:41.920 In every room he's in, he's the alpha.

00:08:44.380 Okay?

00:08:45.320 There is power in that statement.

00:08:47.120 It doesn't matter if he's meeting with China, if he's meeting with billionaires, if he's meeting with people richer than him,

00:08:51.960 longer experience than him in politics, he is the alpha.

00:08:54.340 And he's proven it.

00:08:55.900 In 2016, he didn't fully have that.

00:08:59.300 He just got lucky, 17, 18.

00:09:01.620 When it fully got validated was 2024.

00:09:04.820 There is no questions now.

00:09:06.940 No whatsoever.

00:09:08.620 He's the guy running it.

00:09:09.620 You have to either get behind him or –

00:09:11.040 Can I tell you a story from my book?

00:09:12.340 Sure, please.

00:09:12.920 I interviewed Scott Bessent, the Treasury Secretary.

00:09:15.300 I was in his office, and he has a picture of Lincoln over his desk, and I said,

00:09:18.020 is that your favorite Republican president?

00:09:19.480 He said, no, Teddy Roosevelt.

00:09:22.120 I said, why?

00:09:22.920 He goes, Donald Trump is the modern Teddy Roosevelt.

00:09:26.620 You ever read about Teddy Roosevelt?

00:09:28.140 Of course.

00:09:28.460 He says to me, this man would just overwhelm people with his energy and the sheer force of his personality.

00:09:37.360 And that is what Donald Trump does.

00:09:39.820 Bessent starts describing going into these meetings with people who are opposed to them on certain issues.

00:09:44.040 Trump walks into the room, and five minutes later,

00:09:45.960 he has just overwhelmed them into supporting whatever they want to do.

00:09:50.080 So what you're describing, the Treasury Secretary is telling me, like, this is how we get things done.

00:09:55.340 We bring people together, and Trump walks in and just sort of overwhelms people.

00:09:58.900 It's what Roosevelt did.

00:10:00.000 It's how he operated.

00:10:01.540 You can't really replicate it.

00:10:02.960 You either have it or you don't, and not very many people have it.

00:10:05.160 Teddy Roosevelt also got shot and proceeded to give an hour-long speech after he got shot.

00:10:11.500 But can I give you, sir?

00:10:14.100 Yes.

00:10:14.420 You were talking about Christian Bale earlier.

00:10:17.620 You were talking about Cheney.

00:10:18.400 He played Cheney.

00:10:19.880 I think you were going to mention the speech that he gave at the Oscars, I believe is what it was.

00:10:23.720 Yes, yes, yes.

00:10:24.320 Do you have that clip?

00:10:24.940 Yeah.

00:10:25.340 By the way, here's Christian Bale.

00:10:27.740 He wins the Oscar.

00:10:29.600 Here's what he had to say about a shout-out, but a different kind of a shout-out to Dick Cheney.

00:10:34.740 Go ahead, Rob.

00:10:35.180 Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role.

00:10:41.800 And I will be cornering the market on charisma-free ****.

00:10:45.980 So what do you think?

00:10:47.840 Mitch McConnell next?

00:10:49.600 That could be good, couldn't it?

00:10:50.980 I don't like this.

00:10:53.900 I'll be honest with you.

00:10:54.620 Some British guy bitching about our republic.

00:10:57.220 While he's making money.

00:10:58.300 Do you not like it just because he's British?

00:11:00.640 No, I don't like it because, A, I know these people.

00:11:03.880 Like, you've got to understand, I know these people.

00:11:05.680 B, this guy doesn't know anything about American politics.

00:11:07.500 But do you disagree that Dick Cheney, many people think he's Satan?

00:11:11.260 I agree.

00:11:12.180 But back when I was working for him, those many people were the most liberal, progressive Democrats in American politics.

00:11:17.480 And so.

00:11:17.920 Exactly.

00:11:18.820 Have you been in the same room with Dick Cheney?

00:11:21.360 I worked on both campaigns.

00:11:22.600 I worked in the Bush-Cheney White House.

00:11:24.020 What was he like?

00:11:25.220 The caricature of it was totally wrong.

00:11:26.840 He was extremely grandfatherly, almost.

00:11:31.060 And I had to brief.

00:11:31.740 I was political affairs.

00:11:32.760 I had to brief him on campaigns.

00:11:34.320 I had to brief him on what was going on in our politics.

00:11:36.880 I'm just telling you, the caricature that media paints of these guys, they've done the same thing to Trump.

00:11:43.600 I've been hanging around Trump.

00:11:45.020 What you would think about Trump is totally different than what you get in person.

00:11:49.140 The same was true of Bush.

00:11:50.140 The same was true of Cheney.

00:11:52.140 The media, they make caricatures.

00:11:54.180 You think the level of evil of Trump is bigger than Cheney?

00:11:57.460 No, I'm saying the caricatures that media presents of these guys is off base.

00:12:01.180 Because I would say when I think evil.

00:12:03.180 No, I don't think they're evil at all.

00:12:04.360 No, no, the way it's been branded, they've branded him as evil.

00:12:07.900 Yes.

00:12:08.520 They've branded him as an evil guy.

00:12:10.640 If you watch the movie, there's nothing about him you're going to sit there and say, what an impressive guy.

00:12:15.680 So Hollywood brands a Republican as evil.

00:12:18.460 Boy, there's a breaking news story.

00:12:19.460 I mean, these people are dedicated to destroying conservatives in any form.

00:12:25.940 Look, I'm old enough to remember looking out my window from the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue

00:12:29.720 and watching people marching around saying Bush is Hitler.

00:12:32.000 Now here we are and I'm watching people marching around saying Trump is Hitler.

00:12:36.580 I mean, it's the same thing.

00:12:37.220 How old were you when you were with Dick Cheney?

00:12:39.380 My 20s.

00:12:40.100 Okay.

00:12:40.360 And what was that like for you in your 20s?

00:12:42.900 While you're on the inside, you're spending time with this man, and then you're going out and –

00:12:47.320 how are you as a young man processing what they're saying about him versus you're in there with him on a daily basis?

00:12:53.140 I mean, it just doesn't match, and I knew it, and we knew it, and I think one of the frustrations that we always had was, how do you defeat this propaganda?

00:13:04.020 Like, how do you defeat these narratives?

00:13:05.880 How do you defeat these caricatures?

00:13:07.880 It's one of the reasons Republicans love Trump.

00:13:10.440 He shows up and says, you know, we don't actually have to take this.

00:13:13.040 We don't have to take this lying down.

00:13:14.640 And that was, I think, one of the frustrations with old guard politicians, that they just didn't fight back hard enough to try to defeat what Hollywood or the media and anybody else was doing to the Republican Party.

00:13:25.080 There's only one Dick Cheney.

00:13:26.300 Not a lot of people are compared to Satan.

00:13:28.240 Everyone's Hitler these days. 0.94

00:13:30.340 Can you speak to the whole concept that Dick Cheney was part of the military-industrial complex?

00:13:36.280 Why are you looking at me like I'm crazy?

00:13:37.740 I'm listening.

00:13:38.440 Okay, gotcha.

00:13:39.380 Okay, that's just a normal face.

00:13:40.720 Gotcha.

00:13:41.500 But they think that –

00:13:42.980 You watch me on TV?

00:13:43.720 Maybe I make faces at people.

00:13:44.800 That's what I do.

00:13:45.500 No, we all have them in the same way.

00:13:47.600 Tom, the military-industrial complex.

00:13:51.320 I don't know if he was part of Hattemberton or whatever it was.

00:13:53.540 He was the CEO and then on the board.

00:13:54.720 Okay.

00:13:55.300 There's a lot of people left, right, and center who are like, well, 9-11, Dick Cheney.

00:14:00.380 You've heard these stories, no?

00:14:01.920 Yeah.

00:14:02.520 Speak to that a little bit, would you?

00:14:03.780 Okay, well, here is my recollection, that on 9-11 we were attacked by radical Islamic terrorists.

00:14:09.220 And then the Bush-Cheney administration swung into action to protect Americans from further attacks.

00:14:15.280 And they – I mean that is their legacy.

00:14:18.500 And at the time, the country supported it.

00:14:21.860 I mean vast majority of the country supported it.

00:14:23.480 Over time, Democrats decided they didn't support it.

00:14:25.960 But the overriding issue was how do we keep radical Islamic terrorists from killing Americans?

00:14:31.280 Now, Cheney goes back farther than that.

00:14:32.520 He was secretary of defense during the first Persian Gulf War.

00:14:35.820 And so is he part of the military establishment in this country?

00:14:39.620 Well, yeah, he was secretary of defense.

00:14:40.900 He was vice president of the United States.

00:14:42.500 He was in office on 9-11.

00:14:44.440 Bush and Cheney were wartime leaders.

00:14:46.780 So, of course, of course they're identified with military stuff.

00:14:50.380 But their actions, in my opinion, after 9-11, I mean, you've got to remember, guys, it was – I mean, it was scary.

00:14:57.800 I mean, the thought that they could come in here and knock down those towers.

00:15:00.600 And, I mean, they were going to fly airplanes into the White House.

00:15:03.260 They flew one into the Pentagon.

00:15:04.440 I mean, it was a direct attack on America.

00:15:06.400 And I – look, it's 2025, and I know it was a long time ago.

00:15:09.040 But in my opinion, we do well to remember there are people out there that want to kill us, and they would do it today if they had the chance.

00:15:14.160 But if we think about it, though, Scott, it was – those Islamic terrorists came from Saudi Arabia, but then they lied, Cheney and the Bush administration, and they said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

00:15:24.360 And we went there, and we killed one million people, including a bunch of my brothers and sisters because I'm a veteran as well with Pat.

00:15:29.900 So I wouldn't call him Satan.

00:15:31.220 The hardest thing watching this and watching them in church was me having to pray for him because I prayed to God that he got right with God and Jesus Christ because at the end, because of the damage that he did.

00:15:41.060 You mentioned Halliburton, how are you doing all the defense contracts, and you work for Halliburton, and then you're getting paid for all those defense contracts.

00:15:48.440 And 9-11, like you said, 9-11, I was in, I'm from New York, tragic tracking thing.

00:15:52.880 All the stories, there's still a bunch of unanswered questions, especially building number seven.

00:15:56.880 We're not going to get into that.

00:15:58.180 But to act – and by the way, he pushed techniques like waterboarding and stuff, which if you're even a known terrorist and they waterboard you, you're going to admit to anything.

00:16:07.140 So they were grabbing people and saying, tell us that it was here so we could go bomb this.

00:16:11.060 No, no, no.

00:16:12.060 Waterboard, they admit it, and they go for it.

00:16:14.120 So I understand that they were – you know, you worked for them and that you were friends.

00:16:17.300 I wouldn't call him Satan, but there's a lot of damage that is done for America and for American troops and my brother's decision.

00:16:24.120 I was in during 9-11 and had to deal with all that nonsense afterwards.

00:16:27.960 So it does – some accountability has to be done for what he did and what he did to the country.

00:16:33.300 Well, Matt, first of all, thank you for serving.

00:16:36.820 Anytime.

00:16:37.200 Second, the accountability for decisions by politicians comes in elections.

00:16:42.820 So 9-11 happened.

00:16:44.160 They got reelected in 04.

00:16:45.700 But then 2008 happened and Democrats came in.

00:16:48.380 I mean some of what you're describing was a reaction of the American people in 2008.

00:16:52.380 It ushered in the Obama era.

00:16:55.120 But then, of course, the reaction to Obama was Trump.

00:16:57.700 And so, look, we may have difference of opinion about actions at the time, but my personal view is that the American people ultimately decide how they're going to react to the decisions that were made at the time, and they decide in the next election.

00:17:13.700 Same thing will happen to Trump.

00:17:14.840 In 26, they'll vote again.

00:17:16.900 In 28, we'll vote.

00:17:17.760 But it will be a reaction to the decisions that are made.

00:17:20.500 But do you agree, Scott, that once 9-11 happened, we were told, because, mind you, I was in, I remember Bush on the aircraft carrier, and he, America, and we had to get these terrible things.

00:17:29.240 Scott, I fell for it, too, but knowing that they were like, okay, Iraq, Iraq, weapons of mass destruction, and we went all in, and then the dust settled, and we were like, wait a minute. 0.99

00:17:37.900 Wait, wait, wait.

00:17:38.700 You got, so they changed the name of the war to Enduring Freedom, as if we weren't going to go, wait, time out.

00:17:45.280 Everybody's dead.

00:17:46.320 Saddam Hussein, say what you want about him, bro.

00:17:48.040 I know family members that were from, that have family in Iraq.

00:17:51.440 He was the best thing for them.

00:17:53.060 It's crazy to say that, but he kept everybody at bay.

00:17:55.560 The moment he was gone, look at all the ISIS, everything was born, and it's been a mayhem. 1.00

00:18:01.220 And then all the security, all of our spying on us and all that stuff opened up the door for them.

00:18:06.060 So I, what were you going to say?

00:18:08.800 This is the frustration that I hear from people on the right.

00:18:11.840 So clearly we can go to the left and the Democrats, and they hate Cheney, but there's people on the right, Vinny, like this.

00:18:18.040 We generally are not a fan of anything the Bush administration did.

00:18:22.720 And not to go off topic here, you know, why did we go into Iraq?

00:18:27.060 You know, they said that Netanyahu, the Israeli government, from what I understand, was basically saying for decades, Iran is the problem.

00:18:35.340 Iran is the head of the snake. 1.00

00:18:37.860 Don't go into Iraq. 1.00

00:18:39.800 And the Bush-Cheney administration was like, listen, Bibi, we got this.

00:18:44.000 We're going into Iraq.

00:18:45.200 And then Bibi had to get up on stage and be like, look, Iraq. 0.93

00:18:48.460 It's kind of like a different way around.

00:18:50.420 But there's a lot of people frustrated, like, Vinny, why the hell did we go into Iraq?

00:18:54.240 Destabilize the Middle East? 0.99

00:18:55.240 I get Afghanistan.

00:18:56.280 Let them respond.

00:18:57.020 Yeah, yeah.

00:18:57.220 Let them respond.

00:18:57.600 Well, at the time, I mean, the intelligence community was arguing to the political leadership they did have weapons of mass destruction.

00:19:05.460 Now, that turned out to be largely false.

00:19:07.660 Yeah.

00:19:07.760 But, I mean, you know, as President Bush has long said, look, if you're the president, we just suffered 9-11, and the CIA comes in and says, this is a story.

00:19:17.040 How are you going to react to it?

00:19:18.140 You make decisions based on the information you have at the time.

00:19:20.460 And that doesn't necessarily, you know, you go ahead 10, 15, 20 years, and you look back on it and say, well, this was wrong.

00:19:26.540 That was wrong.

00:19:27.160 Here were the consequences of that.

00:19:29.180 You've got to live with the consequences of your decisions.

00:19:30.880 Have you ever read his book?

00:19:32.000 Have you ever read President Bush's book?

00:19:33.900 No.

00:19:34.280 I think you should.

00:19:35.680 Is it called Decision Points?

00:19:36.620 Decision Points.

00:19:37.140 Decision Points, yeah.

00:19:37.760 If you've never read it, it's actually a good book to read because he talks about the mistakes he made, and he goes to it.

00:19:48.460 Like, he doesn't hold back.

00:19:49.840 When we have a very complicated relationship with the president because I've spent some time with him when we brought him to the event, and, you know, if you come into my office, you know, I've got a few things with different presidents.

00:20:00.360 I've got a bunch of stuff from President Trump, but I've got a letter he wrote me many, many years ago.

00:20:06.040 And he brought us to the event.

00:20:07.340 When he brought him to the event, we couldn't record.

00:20:10.140 They asked us for the recording.

00:20:11.780 We gave it to him.

00:20:12.680 He had to give it to the Library of Congress, but we couldn't keep it.

00:20:15.580 So we had to literally hand over the chip, and then, boom, we don't have the files.

00:20:19.360 And you know what he openly talked about?

00:20:22.780 He talked about issues he had with alcohol.

00:20:25.800 He talked about one day, he's like, eight years go by with my family, and I'm sitting there saying, what the hell am I doing drinking every single night?

00:20:33.700 He said, I took all my alcohol, went to the bathroom, poured all of it out.

00:20:36.040 And then he said, I made a difference in my life, made some changes.

00:20:39.460 And then from there is when he decided to go and, you know, becomes a governor and then president and all this other stuff.

00:20:44.820 But I think in the weirdest way, Vinny, you would like him.

00:20:52.620 I know this sounds weird.

00:20:53.740 When you sit down with a guy, you would sit there and, you know, body language, you can kind of tell.

00:20:58.300 I don't know about Dick Cheney.

00:20:59.160 I don't know where, you know, Dick Cheney, I don't have any, you know, you can speak more on Dick Cheney than I can.

00:21:04.180 I've never spent time with him.

00:21:05.500 But I would read this book because, to me, this man was a flawed man, just like anybody else that at one point is like, man, I made some mistakes.

00:21:13.060 He talks about exactly what you're talking about in the book.

00:21:15.820 So I think you get the audio book.

00:21:17.580 It's actually not a big book to read.

00:21:19.400 It's an easy book to read.

00:21:20.460 I think it'll give you some perspective.

00:21:21.540 When I say tourist, does he say tourist?

00:21:23.260 Tourist.

00:21:24.420 Tourist.

00:21:24.920 After you read that book, I highly encourage you to read comments.

00:21:27.320 I'm already on.

00:21:28.420 He's giving me one on the list.
